We used to dine here all the time when we lived in Reading. Only get there occasionally now that we moved. They got a new menu and the prices went UP. My favorite thing was not on the menu any more so I asked and they had the item. Why is it not on the menu??? There for lunch. The staff could have been more attentive and not surfing on the computer. Seems to be going down hill. What a shame.

Not sure what low ratings are about ?? I never had a bad meal here. I am not a fan of the breakfast buffet but everything else I have had from soup to salad , seafood, to chicken has been awesome!

First of all, to the person who Yelped this: we immediately felt like we had crashed lunch at a nursing home. Every other patron in the diner looked to be in their 50's or older. I say this --- 50-something is hardly a nursing home age! Ahem! Okay---Now that I got that off my chest LOL! Yes, the place does attract its share of senior citizens. By senior citizens, I'm talking about people in my Dad's age group, which is 80-something. However, it also does get younger folks---even some families with kids. One thing is clear --- it does have its share of regular customers. We saw customers warmly greeted by servers---some even getting a hug from their server. Yet, newcomers like us were treated well, too. Sometimes in places that get lots of regulars, newcomers get the short shrift---not here. We came here for a late breakfast on Thanksgiving day, arriving at 11 p.m. At that point, they were beginning to set up a Thanksgiving buffet which cost $17.95 per adult. Not bad---the price I mean, I have no idea if it would have been any good. We were surprised to find that even though this is a 24/7 restaurant, they only serve breakfast for a limited time every day. We got there just right before the cut off point. Even though we were given a lunch menu, our server gladly checked to see if we could still get breakfast and brought us 1 breakfast menu for 3 people. Breakfast was okay---nothing to write home about. I got 2 fried eggs over easy with home fries, sourdough toast and bacon. As I bit into the bacon, the unusual flavor triggered a memory. I was thinking, "I've tasted something else like this". Then, one of our cross country drives popped into my mind---and then it hit me---the bacon tasted like some freshly made beef jerky we bought in Oklahoma. That pound of beef jerky got devoured way before we hit Virginia. That's what this bacon tasted like. One piece even seemed to have the consistency of beef jerky LOL. Otherwise, the eggs were cooked properly and the home fries were okay, if unremarkable. My husband had the same breakfast but with scrambled eggs and ham and my Dad got the same thing but with corned beef hash. Would we go again? Sure---but only if we miss breakfast at the hotel. The place has an old-time set up. You can even eat at a counter. You don't pay the server but rather you pay the cashier. By the cashier was a small case with baked goods. We noticed that they had baklava which told me that this place was Greek owned. They also had cupcakes---and no, I didn't get any LOL!

Decent place. Clean and pleasant. Breakfast any time. Excellent omelets; the Wyomissing Omelet is delicious. . Free wifi.

I've been coming to this place for about 6 years. They have a lot of parking. I've always been greeted with a warm smile by the host/hostess. For the price you pay you generally get a generous portion of food. The service for the most part is great. They have a large menu with many great options, some which are hard to find anywhere else. The people that own this establishment are extremely nice and makes you want to keep going back! Today I had Keith as a server and he was wonderful! He was very friendly and attentive, especially to my 2 year old.

Diners do certain things well, and someone who visits a diner should go in with appropriate expectations. For instance, don't go to a diner to get the "surf & turf". The steak and the lobster are going to be overcooked. Why even order lobster at a diner to begin with? People get the oddest meals at diners. And this is partly the diner's fault. They're known for having hundreds of menu items to cater to nearly everyone. BUT, if you understand the role of a diner, you'll know what to order, and MOST of the time, you shouldn't be disappointed. For instance, diners simply NAIL breakfast. Omelets with a side of sausage, hash browns, and toast ... well, that's a match made in heaven. Even if it's crappy, it's still good. That's the beauty of it. Don't get pasta dishes, steaks, and for the love of GOD, don't order seafood at a diner. You know it's not even close to fresh, so why take the risk? Face it, you're going to a diner for convenience. It isn't so much as the quality of food that matters. It's more that it's open at 3 a.m. and you're drunk and hungry. Other safe dishes are burgers. The server will ask you how you want the burger prepared, so just humor them and say you want it anything less than "well done." It will come out well done, but at least you sounded somewhat dignified when you placed the order. Surprisingly, the lettuce and tomato that comes with the burger will most likely be the freshest ingredients in the entire restaurant. Enjoy it :) My go-to foods at the Wyomissing Family Restaurant are appetizers (i.e. chicken fingers or mozzarella sticks), burgers, omelets, and occasionally fried calamari (yes, I know I'm breaking my own rule about avoiding seafood at all costs, but I WAS DRUNK AND LOST ALL INHIBITIONS, STOP YELLING AT ME). The service after midnight is atrocious. Even when I went to the diner after 12:00 am completely sober, the servers just assume you're drunk and think they can get away with neglecting your table. So in summary, please don't go to ANY diner expecting amazing seafood, steaks, or pastas. That's just being unrealistic. The Wyomissing Family Restaurant nails the standard diner fare, so don't stray from those select offerings! Now if only the service was up to par.

Nothing terrible about this place, just nothing spectacular. $10 for the breakfast buffet is ridiculous though. Chunks of ham floating in a reddish-colored water and the creamed chipped beef should just be called "creamed" since there is nearly no chipped beef worth mentioning. It's not that it's terrible, it's just that it's not worth $10. Seriously, if you think this is a great restaurant you really need to get out and explore more. The best this place could ever hope to be is mediocre.

I hate to give bad reviews but this place needs some change. every time that I come here I am disappointed. the service is constantly terrible along with the food. how someone can completely ruin pancakes and bacon so much that I never want bacon again is beyond me. the waitress checked up on us a total of three times: to take our order, serve our food & to bill us. I will not be retuning due to their lack of food & terrible service

Very expensive. Very. And they can't follow orders I the back. My turkey sandwich didn't have tomato listed on the menu, but I specifically said "absolutely no tomato, please". There were tomato guts all over my sandwich, as though they had it in and then just took it off. Most pathetic $8.00 turkey sandwich. My friend ordered and inlet that came out super cold. Seriously?

We ate there last night and it was excellent! Our entrée was delicious and the salad bar was great! Our waitress was very helpful and very sweet! This was for the dinner hour and I would recommend it highly!

I can't believe Yelp editorial staff, seemingly so picky at times, allowed many of the one star reviews currently displayed. Criticizing a restaurant because of the age of other diners? Vague accusations regarding food poisoning? Seriously? This is a decent diner with some great middle eastern options. The Humus platter, stuffed grape leaves, etc all are quite good. Nice Sunday brunch buffet. Salad/Soup bar bordering on excellent. Terrific omelette options.

Very helpful and kind service in making special arrangements for a large gathering after a funeral. Not sure how the event went overall, but they were wonderful in assisting me in sending a special dessert to the group.

Ok, I don't know where the people who reviewed this place before were eating, but it couldn't have been here. I went here today and yesterday for breakfast and each time I was delighted. The waitresses were helpful and didn't mind a confusing order. The food came out relatively quickly, and was YUMMY! I loved the pancakes and eggs and toast. In conclusion: Fast, friendly service Great food Inexpensive What's not to love?

Looks like a perkins that someone opened at a retirement home. Food stinks and the place always smells like old people, which is probably because it's always full of old people.

I ordered breakfast and they microwaved my bacon. The separate plate it came on was burning hot and the bacon was rubberized. Even the waitress said most of the food is microwaved!! What kind of restaurant is too lazy to cook bacon on a skillet???
(1)Ericka W.
Pancakes were fried in grease, tasteless, and the apple topping was cold. Straight from the can. I asked the waiter about the cold topping and he Returned the dish, reheated in the microwave. Don't go here.

I'd have to say Steve W. hit the nail on the head with his review. Although this place is conveniently open 24hrs, it would probably be best not to eat here if other options are available to you. Tom and I stopped in here while waiting for a friend to come out of their appointment in the building next door. The service was alright and we were seated right away, but we immediately felt like we had crashed lunch at a nursing home. Every other patron in the diner looked to be in their 50's or older. The food was also quite bland; my fettuccini alfredo had no taste whatsoever, my string beans were overcooked, and my shrimp (while plentiful) had not a pinch of seasoning. Tom said his meatloaf was bad (and he LOVES meatloaf) although he seemed to enjoy the honey BBQ chicken wings and chicken rice soup he ordered. Although our meals were cheap ($6.99 a piece with their lunch special that runs from 11AM-3PM), I left rather hungry since I didn't eat much of it. I definitely wouldn't be back for the food (or the crowd for that matter!)

This place is terrible! I will not go here again. I ordered breakfast to go for my family because our power was out. The farmers omelet, ham and cheese omelet and 2 sides of bacon (also came w homefires and toast). I know this place was busy bc all of the power outages but that is no excuse to serve poorly prepared food. The homefries werent even warm, the "toast" was dry bread (they didnt even butter it! And the bacon was barely cooked (def microwaved! and i had to wait over a half hour just for this meal!) If i wanted to eat raw uncooked cold food I would have stayed home.

I hate giving bad reviews, but I would stay away, as others noted, this place is one of the worst diners in the area (that says allot!). Not only is it dirty but the food is questionable, both in preparation and quality.
(1)Steve W.
A perfectly mediocre dining experience. It's your run-of-the mill diner-style restaurant with a salad bar and terrifyingly wide variety of items on the menu. While I don't recommend doing this, it would theoretically be possible to get spaghetti, a gyro, crab cakes, and an omelet at 11pm on a Tuesday. Why would you do this? Who knows? But at least it's nice knowing that you can. If you value your culinary happiness, limit this place to breakfast excursions, late-night grilled cheese, and pie binges. The banana cream is actually quite good.

I have been going here for years and the quality has been steadily declining. Eating here is cheap and there are a lot of seats. The staff is pretty responsible and for the most part acceptable. The food is very inconsistent but for the most part mediocre. I would recommend staying on the breakfast menu, do not order anything that is not considered breakfast. This place is your average cheap 24 hour diner that just happens to have a large amount of seats.
