Wow. I used to come here in high school, when we wanted to go somewhere really nice and somewhat fancy. The cheddar bay biscuits were so amazing back then. I always got the crab alfredo pasta and it was delicious, so creamy. I really thought my memories were just clouded by high school naivete or perhaps because this is one of the first restaurants I ever went with just friends (no parents). Went back recently a few weeks ago, and it is still really good. I thought maybe I was just being nostalgic but it's not only just how I remember, it's still delicious! Had one of the lobster entrees and it was huge, with a side of creamy pasta. Service was friendly and fast and the salads and everything seemed really fresh. It may not be the best restaurant in Reading but it's probably one of the best Red Lobsters I've ever visited.

I came in today ( Sunday, August 23 ) for a quick lunch with a girlfriend. We both decided to go with the four course meal. I ordered the clam chowder, a Caesar salad ( extra dressing ) tilapia with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli, and ended with cheesecake. The clam chowder was just okay; it was a little watery. My salad was nice, cold, and crisp. It was delicious. However, it seemed as the salad portion was VERY small. Normally by the time I finish my salad and soup combo, I'm too full to eat my entree. I get to take that home and have it for dinner. Unfortunately, that did not happen today. The fish was prepared very well. I squeezed the lemon over the tilapia and it was absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes were good as well. I took the dessert home so I can't really comment on that yet. Although our waitress was very nice, she wasn't very attentive. I had to wait quite some time for a refill on my water, ugh. That's a really big pet peeve of mine. I ate my soup. Still no water. Ate my salad. Ugh, I'm still waiting. I neatly piled all of my used dishes together. Pushed everything to the edge of the table. I'm dehydrated. I finally had to ask her for some water. It wasn't an excellent lunch, but it wasn't so awful that I wouldn't come back.

Well the food was good but the shrimp was soft not as grilled as usual. When chef Lori Wolfe was there she was very perfectionist about the food. We miss Lori!

Strange, the lobster was terrible, but the crab legs and scallops were not bad. I'm amazed at how much people like this place. I suppose if you never had real food, this place would be 4 stars. My opinion, skip red lobster, also bypass seafood shanty and goto the Hitching Post, you won't be disappointed.

I don't give chain restaurants 5 stars. I almost did in this case. The food was a bit pricey but cooked perfectly with big delicious portions. If you go o this location make sure to ask to sit is Sue's section. Sincerely on of the best servers i've ever had, chain or not. She is a champion and has truly mastered her craft.

Does anyone go to Red Lobster anymore? There was apparently once a time in Reading when there were not that many nice restaurants, because people thought of Red Lobster as a fancy date-worthy place and were willing to wait hours in a smoke-filled lobby to pay $29 for a thawed-out lobster tail. Who is this who would make his mother wait so long for chain food or think a date would be impressed? It is all frozen (I asked), except for the "live" lobsters and the fresh fish shortlist. Chains get their food from massive distribution companies, so there is no local buying and nothing organic. This is what you have to do to maintain menu sameness over hundreds of stores. In the mid-1990s, this was one of the busiest locations in the company, but the proliferation of cooler chains has given RL a lot of competition for bland, salty, fatty food in cutesy-themed, booth-filled environments. Don't other people grow tired of hearing the way-overlong script designed to upsell expensive drinks and push the sales of appetizers and desserts? These are higher profit items which management likely tracks for each employee. Servers seem to be trained to manipulate you and under pressure to sell sell sell! This makes me uncomfortable as a customer, because I have to keep saying no thanks and looking cheap. Check out their nutrition information online. One Alfredo dish I saw has 53 grams of fat, over 1200 calories, over 3000 milligrams of salt, and 91 carb grams! That is just one entree, which does not include the salad or biscuits. The Bisquick cheese biscuits have 8 grams of fat each. Every entree is two to four times the size it needs to be, so bring your takeout containers. The soups taste like they are from a can, and the pasta seems microwaved. The one good thing is the steamed broccoli, but many diners probably consider it "raw." I was told by servers that the fries were fine for vegetarians, but another time they said they had lard. I just can't understand how Red Lobster can still be swarmed on a Saturday night, when places such as Thaiwat are not even full. I guess it is the overwhelming influence of tv advertising. When you see an ad over and over, you get into your car and drive there like a zombie.

VERY much enjoyed our dinner tonight! Tried they're 4 course meal and the Potato / Bacon soup was great! Garden salad was tremendously fresh followed by the main course Pork Chops, Mashed & Rice. All was fantabulous with a warm brownie with ice cream. Our server Becka was very friendly & most helpful with any questions we had with meal selections & conversation. Becka & the meal made for a most enjoyable dinner out. At under $50 with a dinner each ..bargain! We would highly recommend this place to everyone!

we had dinner here on a weeknight at past 9pm. we had flavorful stuffed mushrooms with shrimps for appetizers and the steamed lobster legs with baked shrimps, potatoes & other seafood as entree. And i recall having a salad and fresh baked bread, too. the dinner was simply awesome! and i observed how the staff work very hard while here, which caused me to make a remark to one of the lady staff-members that 'you work hard!', and a long conversation ensued among us as the other staff members joined us as it was already past 11pm then (when they're closing for the night). Or maybe I'm just seeing how people behave differently when they're not in NYC. or probably, I'm just mad at the nastiness of some staff I see who work in food places in NYC. but whatever the reason could be for claiming these, I noticed that people in this Red Lobster restaurant have been friendlier and more authentic. i enjoyed the experience, considering the difficulty of working on the legs and other parts of the lobster before you can proceed to eat the meat.

I was not impressed with the food. My salad tasted like it was made a while ago and kept in fridge. This place is not what it was. For what you pay, not a great value.

Never a bad meal here! This is the one restaurant in Berks County that I always know I'll leave happy. The prices have gone up over the years, but the food is always tasty and the service is friendly. One of the few chains that still serves a salad with your meal at no extra charge. And the cheddar biscuits are out of this world! Just wish the wait on the weekends was shorter!
