Not sure what's going on here. Last 2 times I've been there for dinner haven't seen the owner, and the last two dinners haven't been up to the usual good food. Also seems like they are short at least one wait staff member. Took a while to get the wine opened and order taken. Being busy is a good thing, but the food isn't the same quality. Shrimp cocktail was very good, but the "crispy" chicken livers were luke warm and soggy. The veal chop was ok, but the Wild Boar came out luke warm and had almost no taste. The green beans that came with the entree were stone cold. Never had food like this in the past, but think I have to find another spot for outdoor BYO dining in the area.

I'm really surprised by some of the lower ratings for Zacharias -- I've been there twice now and really enjoyed my meal both times. The last time I was in I had the ahi tuna and not only was it perfectly cooked, but its accompaniments were awesome. I could eat that everyday. We had the bruschetta and also some hummus as appetizers for our group. The bruschetta was great (it was a special and had a goat cheese spread on it that really set it apart) but the hummus was on the plain side. Very unmemorable. I wouldn't order that again, but I would certainly not let that stop me from going back. My friends also all seemed pleased with their meals, and in fact, this was the second time there with that group -- we were all excited to meet there again based on our first experience. The service has been consistently excellent and because it's a BYO, even though the meal prices are a little on the high side, you get out of there spending a lot less than you're expecting. I would say that Zacharias is a great place to bring a group for low key dinner. They have plenty of different menu options, so even the pickiest of eaters is likely to be pleased. It's a great atmosphere and they don't rush you along with your meal. A relaxing place to be.

nothing really special to say about this place. Food was ok , service good. However it took almost 40 minutes between apps and entrees and they weren't even that hot. Definately not worth the price

This was my first visit, and I'm hooked. Menu was extensive and eclectic. Nice touch to have small plate items. Service impeccable. Decor very cool, artsy.. Mango iced tea w/lime refreshing. Tried the crispy chicken livers which was perfectly prepared. Loved the experience.

My family has been here several times and each time it gets better and better! We were just there recently and everyone had a fabulous meal. We were very pleased. The service was excellent and we will definitely be back soon!!

We have dined here 3 times and found the service and the food to be wonderful. So nice to have a non chain to be able to go to that has fresh food. The cream of mushroom soup is ridiculous. All the menu items we tried were great. byob. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

One word review of Zacharias: Meh Having recently moved to the area, I need a good place to go for my wedding anniversary. I was expecting a bit more from this restaurant on our first trip. Having my socks blown off time and again by Amani's in Downingtown on our anniversary, the wifey and I were a tad disappointed by Zacharias. The inside is well decorated and clean, it just seems like its trying too hard to be hip(not that I'm the kind of hip, but still). I've been there twice during the week and both times it was just about empty. The service is OK, but can be really slow. The food is pretty good, but not that impressive, and doesn't match the prices very well. I would go back as a special occasions place. That is, until I find a better place nearby.

Zacharias Creek "casual" Creek Side Cafe is definitely a diamond in the rough. BYOB. A tad on the dressy side, though I rolled on up in a t-shirt and jeans and was not turned away. Roasted chicken soup with lentils was very good. The baked goat cheese app, while tasty, was a little too much for one person, so best to split this app with 2-3 people. My wife and friend each got salads that were pretty good. I had the opposite of a salad. The "pub" steak with Gorgonzola I ordered came with roasted potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms. Never had a "pub" steak before, it was awesome. Perfectly medium rare with rich and creamy Gorgonzola. The potatoes and mushrooms were also perfectly cooked. I would also say they make a kick a## creme brulee, one of the best I've had and I've sampled my fair share of brulees. Lastly, the owner stopped by our table to introduce himself, which was a nice touch.

I have tried Zacharias twice now and will not return. I think the food is way overpriced for what you get. Our entrees came out in about 5 mins. My petite fillet (and boy do they mean petite) and crab cake were served to me cold. I had to send it back. My friend's risotto was really bad, inedible. They did not offer an ice bucket for our wine and we felt as though they were rushing us out the door.

Went here on a Fri night around 6/7:00. I was afraid it might be crowded but it wasn't. The host was also an owner, introduced himself and was VERY kind. The service was great although the server wasn't that friendly and didn't seem like he wanted to be there. The food was AWESOME- not sure about the negative reviews but our food was great! Soup, app, entree and desert could not have been better! By the time we left, it was getting crowded. A little pricey but worth it every once in awhile. We will definately go back- next time with alcohol as it's BYO;)

We went to the restaurant for lunch with a group of co-workers. There were only 2 people working, 1- waitress and 1- cook. Restaurant only had 3 tables of 2 or 3 people and table with us(6). We should have left after there was not enough menus for our table. The food wasn't good. Service was bad. We asked the waitress that we were tight on time and to our shock the response was that our table last to have placed an order, so we will be last to be served. That's not how you treat customers. Never again will either of us go there again. Bad service, bad food.

I didn't think I would like this place given the overall ratings. We had a groupon and decided to try. I was pleasantly surprised! They served the best cream of mushroom soup I've eaten out which gives them high marks. The rest of our food was quick delicious. A pricy option in the area, it's a good choice for a splurge.

Nice little BYOB on Skippack Pike. Very unassuming from the outside, but it's worth the stop. Our server was very pleasant and extremely helpful for first time visitors like ourselves. She gave recommendations based on some things we were interested in. We ended up getting the smoked gruyere with shrimp and crab fondue (pictured), the short rib (pictured), and the grouper special (pictured). The fondue was very good on the apple, grapes, and toasted bread. My wife enjoyed the grouper, but the asparagus risotto that came with it was our favorite part of her meal. Very creamy and flavorful. My short rib was outstanding. The meat just fell apart and the mashed potatoes and garlic spinach were great, but the sauce that it was in made the whole thing perfect. This was our server's recommendation for me and I'm glad she suggested it. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for some high quality comfort food. Very good first experience.

So I've been to Zachariah's twice now. The first time was just an awful experience. My boyfriend and I had a Groupon and went with another couple. We went around 7 on a Saturday night. Not sure if it was because they were new or what but the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. We waited for almost fifteen minutes after being seated for water, any service whatsoever. We had wine to be opened (as this is a BYOB) and that didn't get opened until after we ordered because the waiter kept forgetting it. Anyway, less than impressed. The second time we went was MUCH better! I figured we'd just chalk the first experience up to bad timing and lack of waitstaff. This time we went on a weeknight and the food was delcious. We split the bruschetta for an appetizer and we each got the stuffed flank steak. It was stuffed with herbs, roasted red peppers and smoked Gouda! Served with garlic mashers and veggies. Excellent choice! The meals are a bit pricey but rightfully so as you won't find a cheesesteak or sandwich on the menu. Definitely recommend, maybe just not on a weekend!

  • Greg L.

My wife and I ate dinner here one evening and basically picked this place because of a Groupon we had. There are a lot of tables crammed into this place and it was busy the night we were there. We did have reservations and I would recommend making them, especially on weekends. The owner was very nice and even came over to talk with us a bit. Service was good as was the food. Portion sizes are about average, but my main issue here was the price. The bill was well over $100 for two appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and it just felt too high for what we got. I've had just as good dinners in the city for about the same price. I might try this place for lunch and would consider coming back if I found a good enough deal.

This is a great place with excellent flat breads and an even better cream of mushroom soup. If you don't get anything, get the soup, it really is perfection. The first time I went there, I met the owner who came out and was very friendly and personable. The food is very fresh and delicious, the only con is how pricey things are, and that's kind of a biggie. The portions are an average size but for some reason I just can't justify paying that much for one meal.

Great food but a little over priced. Horrible service. Never was asked if need something to drink. Finally got water. Never got a refill of water until ready to leave. Waitress was bad.

The restaurant is located in a very convenient spot and offers a wide range of menu selections, which left me confused and put off. I felt the menu lacked focus; there were sea food dishes, Italian dishes, American dishes and it was just too much for me personally. While I loved that the pasta and sauce were fresh made I wasn't getting an Italian vibe from the place so it made it hard to enjoy. Also the pasta wasn't my first choice, but since they were out of the wild boar and veal chop I had to go with the pasta... The pasta I ate was fresh and cooked properly and the vodka sauce I chose was excellent; it was seasoned properly and had a nice hint of garlic. Overall my experience at Zacharias creek was just okay and the reviews, especially Amy A's are similar to my experince. I don't think I will be returning anytime soon.

First visit tonight.... Warm and inviting with a very friendly staff. Highly recommend the bison meatballs, chicken florentine and the organic portobello mushroom. Mentioned in passing that it was my BF's birthday and was delighted that they brought out our shared dessert with a birthday candle and "happy birthday" elegantly written in chocolate. This place is an absolute delight and we will definitely be returning and recommending to our friends and family.

Good service. Pricy. Three out of the four dishes was salty. I should've shared that with the cook/chef.

Excellent experience! Great place, great food, great location, great service and had an awesome outside seating area. The owner is very nice and personable. The staff is friendly and attentive. This was my second time here and it exceeded the expectations. With a well balanced menu and the option for byob, it is one of my favorite local places. The only faults I would say was that the apps were a little pricey for the amount they had served, but the large entrees made up for it. I would recommend this place to anyone and will be back!

Our last visit to Zacharias was disappointing. The vibe has changed, and not for the better. The food was OK. The service was OK. Nothing stood out. I can't quite out my finger on what's changed, but we're in no hurry to return. When an established place starts doing offers on Groupon, it's never a good sign.

  • Jeanne E.

As usual, the chef has created an amazing special Pasta cream sauce, really a sea food dish, crab meat shrimp and mussels. Add roasted red peppers and celery to top it all off. Then some incredible cheese that I did not even know about. AMAZING Make sure you go BYOB and leave the cooking up to them. You can stay as long as you want. Ask for DJ as your server, he will make it happen.

I struggle writing this review. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. When a Groupon became available, I snagged one and made a reservation. We were greeted and did not need to wait for our table. We brought a nice Pinot Grigio since it's BYOB. We both started out with an appetizer. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad and BF ordered the mussels in a diavalo sauce. We were also brought out freshly baked bread with olive oil and an olive tapanade. My beet salad was great. The beets were fresh and the goat cheese was rich and creamy. The mussels were great. The sauce had a good amount of kick to it. However, after appetizers our meals arrived and they were underwhelming. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing tasted great. I ordered the trout served with a lemon brown butter sauce along with a sweet potato mash and green beans with shallots. The trout had little seasoning and the lemon brown butter sauce had zero flavor. The sweet potatoes were great and thankfully they were on the plate since nothing else had flavor. BF ordered the special, Rack of Lamb with green beans and fingerling potatoes. The sauce that accompanied the lamb, lacked flavor and similar to the trout needed more seasoning. It was disappointing to say the least. Service was great. No complaints there. She was fabulous and attentive. I really don't think I'll go back again, unfortunately. I really wanted to love this place, but with the underwhelming food and on the higher end prices, I can't justify gambling $80 for a meal that might leave much to be desired.

My daughter and I went to Zacharias Cafe last night for Dinner. The service was slow and the waitress was unattentive. The meal started off well, with both of us ordering a cup of their Pumpkin Bisque. It was delicious. My daughter ordered Turkey Meatballs and pasta. She said the meatballs were dry. I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca. It was 1 small filet, covered with extremely salty prosciutto and very dry provolone cheese. Not only was the chicken dry and over cooked but difficult to cut. I immediately brought my displeasure to my waitress, she asked if the chicken was dry and overcooked. Obviously they have had this problem before, then she said she would take care of the problem. When she finally returned she offered to comp a dessert to solve the problem. I have eaten at Zacharias on many occasions in the past, the waitress were professional and extremely friendly. The staff seems to have changed and so has the quality of the meals.

I had wanted to go to Zacharias for a while as I have heard some good things about it. My family and I went last night, party of 5. (4 Adults and 1 child). The service was decent, nothing great. It was not very crowded, maybe 3 or 4 tables, but the waiter did not check in very often if we needed anything. The owner (I think) came out a few times to check which was nice. Now on to the food: I had the Scallops with Mushroom Risotto. 4 Large scallops and a center of Risotto. Scallops were cooked very well and tasted good, but the risotto was undercooked and a bit crunchy. Overall I would give this entree a 3.5 due to the undercooked risotto and $29 price. We had 2 people order Filet, one with a crab cake. One ordered the filet medium, and the other medium well. The medium one came out fine, but the medium well one was pretty rare. We decided not to send it back though, just ate it since this one also had the crab cake. CRAB cake should have more crab than filling, right? Very disappointed in the crab cake with a majority of it being filling without very much crab. Overall rating of these entrees 3. We had one of the specials, rack of lamb. This tasted very good, but the portion was quite small. It had 2 bones, while most orders have at least 4. We had mentioned this and were told the pieces were larger, so the total weight was the same of the 4 bone rack with smaller pieces. OK I guess, but $32 without any salad or soup? Overall a 3 for this since it did taste good, just overpriced for the portion. I have to say the bread was very good though with the olive oil and tapenade. 5 for the bread, but that is the least important part of the meal. Overall I was disappointed with Zacharias. With an average of $30 an entree without any soup/salad there are much better places to go for the price. It was not a super fancy high end restaurant in New York City that is overpriced because it can be, this is not in a location where I feel the price is justified. We tried, but I don't think we will be going back again. I was really looking forward to a good new place to eat, but I will keep looking.

I was worried because the first thing we were told as we walked in was how short staffed they were that night. Fortunately that had no negative effect on service. For an app we shared the ginger shrimp wrapped in bacon and the calamari. Both were amazing and fresh tasting. I mean really fresh. Flavors popped and texture was wonderful on both. Our waiter pushed the tuna special which I now wish I would have tried. I got the surf N turf instead. My fiancé ordered the stuffed pepper. My steak was ok. It came medium rare as requested but was so tiny (4oz) that it was hard to really savor it. The surf part was a crab cake that consisted mostly of lump crap meat. It was delicious and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit more than the steak (which never happens for me). I also tried the stuffed pepper and while not usually my thing, I would actually order it myself -it was that good. Cooked PERFECTLY. Unfortunately we did not have time for dessert. This place has great atmosphere. While the decor is a bit dated (think 90s trapper keeper abstract art), it was nonetheless very warm and intimate. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is up there in price but portions were very small. Splitting two apps and having an entrée should not leave me still feeling hungry. I think this is the type of place where you should try new things because they really know what they're doing in that kitchen. I wouldn't go here if you are the type who orders the same thing everywhere you go. They seem to go out of their way to keep the food interesting and that is something that should be embraced out in the burbs. Bring a decent bottle to this BYOB and take your time enjoying it.

Quirky! Prices are a bit high, but the outdoor seating is nice. Great menu. 2nd time here. They just seem to miss a few points, and it leaves us scratching our heads. The menu said couscous, but they served acini de pepe. Not a bad trade, but why not mention this? We were left thinking they didn't know the difference. They had a wonderful shrimp/mussel/crabmeat special over pasta, and they inexplicably put pieces of celery in it. The waitress highlighed the creme brulee and said they light it on fire, but she served it a minute later, cold and directly from the fridge, tasting like mediocre pudding. The after-dinner mint was a piece of hard candy. None of these are major issues, but they add up to a lot of "huh?" moments. For the price, attention to detail should be much better. Check it out once, enjoy the quirks, but there are better places at this price point.

Wonderful! Fantastic service and the food was seasonal and fresh! Made an exceptional dining experience. Pasta was made that day and the sweet potato soup was amazing! BYOB and let them cater to you for the night! We all deserve a night off! Enjoy!

Had dinner here recently and is was outstanding. I do not understand the other reviews complaining about small portion size because there was nothing small about our entrees. Service was excellent in an understated, informal yet very professional manner. Noise level was normal and the overall atmosphere is elegant without pretense. Ordered the mushroom bisque to start and is was the best we have had in a very long time. Served in what looked like a small urn rather than the standard cup helped keep it warm to the end. Crab cakes from the standard menu were large and apparently without filler. The seafood special over pasta was overloaded with mussels, extra large shrimp and scallops over a rich, creamy sauced pasta which was more than I could finish. The dessert selections were also excellent. This B.Y.O.B. In the (literal) middle of Montgomery County is worth the drive and quite reasonably priced.

I don't want to make a long winded review so let me just state the #1 problem is that the food is overpriced. I paid $33 for linguine that had mussels and shrimp and it was definitely not worth it. I was actually looking for the salt shaker to add a little flavor. The ambiance wasn't that great either. They had speakers with music playing but it was actually NPR so there was constant talk in between songs. Food -just okay. Prices-too high. Ambiance-not so hot. I will not go back

So so so good. I bought a Groupon to use for dinner even though I'd never eaten there before. I was so happy I did! Me and my boyfriend went there for dinner last night, and were a little alarmed that there wasn't a single car in the parking lot at 6:30. We were quickly seated (obviously) and the waitress explained the specials and said to let her know if we needed suggestions since they had just started their Fall menu that week. I ended up ordering the carrot soup and sweet potato and apple tart. I was really happy with the different vegetarian options they had on the menu and made a point to mention it to the waitress, who mentioned that they wanted to make sure vegetarians weren't just stuck with pasta and a salad. The carrot soup was delicious: thick and sweet and lightly spiced with a little bit of heavy cream over top. The tart was absolutely to die for. It was a flaky buttery phyllo crust with mashed sweet potatoes, slices of apples that were cooked but still perfectly crisp, caramelized onion, goat cheese, and a little balsamic on top. The tart was surrounded by a little sage butter on the plate. I ate all of it. Every last piece. I was afraid it would be too sweet, but it was really the perfect balance of sweet and savory. My boyfriend got the onion soup and veal scaloppine. He loved the onion soup and said it had a tanginess that most onion soup doesn't have, like it had been cooked with either a little tomato or vinegar. He LOVED his veal. It was veal medallions with cheese and prossiutto served with spinach and mashed potatoes. He also ate all of his dinner. We got dessert to go: an amazing chocolate layer cake thing with pistachios and chocolate mousse covered in ganache, and chocolate crepes filled with caramel and bananas. They even gave us little containers of vanilla sauce and chocolate ganache to pour over the crepes when we warmed them up at home. It was easily one of the best meals either of us ever had. The staff was incredibly friendly, the owner made a point to talk to every table (the place was packed by the time we left), and the food was so good that I won't shut up about it today. In short: Soooooo gooooooood!

    (5)
  • Emily R.

The food was extremely underwhelming. It killed me to pay $28 for watery orzo topped with a few mussels and some tiny shrimp (a special). Also the "macadamia crusted cod," there were no macadamias to be found! The place was empty when we got there -- that should've been the first clue. Had a Groupon (thankfully!) and definitely will not be returning.

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night with 2 other couples. Where is Gordon Ramsay when you need him? 1: Hell's Kitchen - If you've ever watched him on Hell's Kitchen, you know he is relentless about the risotto that goes out of his kitchen. Zacharias' could use him as their risotto was neither cooked nor creamy. 2: Kitchen Nightmare - the woman at the table next to us pulled out her cell phone to use it as a flashlight to show the hair in her food!! I had the onion soup which was pretty bland. There was a dash of cheese in the soup which did not really do anything for it. For me, one of the joys of onion soup is the cheese. My husband had the Caesar salad which had the dressing on top as you would do yourself at home, and not tossed. This is perhaps just a preference but he wasn't thrilled. We then shared the 'surf & turf' item on the menu. While the filet was pretty good and cooked to our liking, the crab cake certainly was not lump crab - it was more crab imperial-like. My husband didn't like it that he didn't even finish his half of the crab cake. I've never seen him not eat something on his plate! Our friends meals were not great - rotten salad, under-cooked and cold risotto (see above), and separated cream sauce on pasta (perhaps from reheating in a microwave?) Lastly, the waiter was really frustrating. I will just chalk it up to a bad communicator - not a good critique for someone in the service industry. Needless to say, we will NOT be returning to Zacharias' nor will we be recommending this establishment to anyone!

The worst! Six of us went for dinner. Two dinners were (in the diner's words) "ok". The main course for one was "bland" but she had to send back the slimy salad. Two risottos were both cold and crunchy. My pasta carbonara was reheated in a microwave so the sauce separated into oily, tasteless glop. We left, and had to go somewhere else to eat. Without question, my worst dining experience in memory. Enter at your own risk.

#1 Incredibly friendly staff and owners! #2 Incredible food at a great price! #3 THE DESSERTS ARE AMAZING!!!! #4 A great setting and very relaxing #5 THE WORLDS BEST CAKES!! I frequent this restaurant for lunch during the week. I do half an entree and salad which is amazing. I can't tell you how often I come here to relax during a stressful day. It really helps change my mood. I prefer the portobello panini. A few weeks ago I went with a friend for diner and boy was I impressed. We didn't bring any wine even though its BYOB. I actually forgot it was. The food was delicious. I got a mussel pasta dish wich was excellent. Then I got a chocolate dessert.. I can't recall the name but they all looked equally delicious. I wanted to save the best for last. The cakes here are ridiculously good. Talk about moist and flavorful. How this establishment received any bad reviews shocks me. I suppose some people just love to complain and live life as negative as possible. Well not me sir. I would give this 10 stars if I could. Next time you go in ask to see the dessert tray! You won't regret it... unless you are on a diet lol.

Had dinner here last night. Everything tasted great. They have a nice selection of Tapenades and what I would consider Mediterranean influenced choices which are quite good. This was our second time here, the waiter remembered us and sat us at the same table. Felt very welcomed. The only issue was our entrees came out lukewarm. They offered to reheat but I was afraid that would kill the quality. They very graciously gave us dessert at no charge. The experience was a good one. We will be back.

Looking for a casual place to have lunch, my friend and I settled on Zacharia's. this was our first visit and it won't be our last! We arrived at 1:30 for lunch and even though the last seating is for 2pm, we were warmly greeted, the wait staff was accommodating--even turning on the fireplace--and never rushed us out of the restaurant. We ended up enjoying our wine while we shared multiple items. My friend ordered the soup special which was a cream of artichoke. It was less heavy than what I envisioned but the flavors were wonderful and comforting. We also ordered the beet and goat cheese salad, and antipasti misti as well as another special, "creamy bruschetta" which was crusty Italian bread with a goat cheese spread and topped with a fresh, flavorful bruschetta. Everything was excellent; no complaints! Since they have their own in house pastry chef, we had to try a sweet treat. The chocolate mousse was a work of art with a very light and airy mousse, layered between paper thin sheets of dark chocolate, served with an assortment of berries macerated an orange liquor. It was the perfect ending to the meal. The ambiance was comfortable, trendy, and very bright. The only reason I did not rate it a full 5 stars was because we did not try any of the items from a very extensive sandwich and entree list. We cannot wait to return!

We found ourselves at Zacharias through the basic process of heading up Skippack Pike and stopping at the first place that looked inviting. It was a Friday night, and when we got close enough to see the restaurant, it was clear that we were under-dressed, but as the previous reviewer said, the folks at Zacharias were very welcoming. We asked to see a menu (we're vegetarian and like to be sure we'll find something before we commit), and the gentleman at the podium was more than happy to run through their vegetarian options with us. Not only did they have a vegetarian tart which sounded delicious, but the host explained that they would be happy to make several of the other entrees vegetarian upon request. Despite there being a good crowd, we were seated immediately. A tasty selection of pastries and cookies on display beside the open kitchen caught our attention. It took some time for our waiter to appear, but he was very friendly when he did arrive. (This pattern would continue throughout the night, with long periods of inattention followed by very friendly banter when he returned. It's possible that he was just stretched a bit too thin.) To start, my wife tried the beet and blood orange salad, and I went for the hummus plate. My hummus plate was tasty and had enough grilled pita for a family of four. My wife enjoyed the salad but said she would have preferred more vinegar and less citrus. For dinner, neither of us could resist the potato and goat cheese tart. As delicious as they were striking, the tarts were a loose construction of flaky pie crust, a layer of creamy goat cheese, grilled asparagus, and roasted potatoes, topped with arugula and a sharp dressing. The crust was out of this world, and the potatoes were about as perfectly seasoned as I've had. The creamy goat cheese really pulled it all together. It was great to watch this assembled in the open kitchen, with each element of the dish finishing at the same moment. The tarts were quite filling and we had to give the pastry a pass, but we'll definitely return.

We have eaten here several times for both lunch and dinner. I find it difficult to complain about the food, but the service could use some improvement. The owner is very hands-on in the restaurant, and he is not afraid to make that well known. Each and every time we visited Zacharias Creekside, he found a reason to approach our table and introduce himself. He has always been friendly, but his unhealthy appearance and sweaty shirt made it difficult to enjoy our meal. This is a tough review to write, seeing as I like the restaurant overall, but I dread seeing this man every time we go. When I get home from his restaurant, I feel as though a long walk or a trip to the gym is in order. I am concerned that no one else has managed to comment on this issue, as I have spoken to several other locals who share the same discomfort with his appearance. I'm glad that he cares so much about his restaurant, but I wish that he could maybe stay behind the hostess table in the future.

Me and my wife had lunch there the other day and it was a very nice experience. The food here is very tasty and you could tell that it was made from fresh ingredients. For appetizer we decided to have Red Pepper & Walnut Purée and boy that was really tasty. It had a hummus consistency and topped with some tiny sliced roasted peppers. It came with some grilled pita (plenty for two or even three) bread. I recommend it. My wife had the crab cake and I had the dry aged steak burger. Both sandwiched came out in the right temperature and was wrapped in round onion style bread. Interesting because you don't normally see that but I think the waitress explained that they were out of the regular bread. Both sandwiches tasted great, nothing mind blowing, but enough to say that I would like to come back and try something else. They even have their own pastry chef so we had to try their dessert. The waitress mentioned that they had some local ice cream that were made from a farm nearby so I had to try that. A nice portion in a cup with some fresh fruit was so good. I love vanilla bean ice cream. My wife picked the chocolate cake with some type of peanut crunch in the middle...not bad. The service was great and she was very helpful in explaining the items on the menu. I would definitely come back.

Zacharias is one of our favorite restaurants. The menu changes seasonally and always has delicious and interesting choices. We eat regularly at well-known restaurants in Philadelphia and Zacharias beats most of them in food, comfort and ambiance. Our most recent dinner included delicious flank steak remoulade and tender, moist pork chop along with wonderful beet salad and their usual bread with great olive tampanade. We enjoy saving money by bringing our own bottle and spending a little more on absolutely delicious food.
