We walked in at 10:40 and the place was "hopping" so I'll give them but over cooked eggs just suck plain and simple. We did enjoy our first time there experience and we will be back. Our server was attentive but not when I needed her. There is plenty of help buzzing around and many employees aided. Special thanks to the attractive blonde MOD, she helped everyone. Next time if weather permits we will eat outside, not under the stairs....I felt like Harry Potter.

Unfortunately we were seated upstairs next to the waiter stand, and it was one of the most obnoxious restaurant experiences ever. The waiters have no space to maneuver so you constantly have to move out of the way for them. I don't expect college students or young adults to have the most mature conversations, but I did not enjoy hearing about their drinking escapades. You know what, I was going to give this place two stars, but now that I've written the review I am changing it. Shame on the owners for not thinking this development through. Drop the prices to compensate, or reduce the seating. Buy the place next door and expand. Hell, do something and I'll return. Go to Roots Cafe instead. Fun atmosphere, great food.

This was my first time visiting the classic diner and I was very impressed! The breakfast sandwich I had was delicious and very big! They have awesome home fries that are crispy, cooked perfectly through, and have a nice sea salt on them. I also enjoyed that they had iced coffee and flavorings for it! I will definitely be back again and again!

The location and atmosphere is really nice. A little crowded but not loud. My roommates enjoyed their sandwiches but my burger and fries were just okay. Some of the prices were a little outrageous... $4.25 to add bacon to your burger?! That has to be a typo on the menu....

My boyfriend and I recently stopped in for lunch. We were sat by the hostess and remained sitting at our table for at least 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging that we were sitting there. A male server walked passed us three times. A waitress sat in the corner eating food and looking at us, and the hostess texted on her phone. After seeing all of this, we got up and walked out. We will never set foot in there again.

Really great atmosphere. Prices are very fair, in the 10 dollars range. The menu could be a bit more adventurous and leaves you with a feeling that you could make most of the items yourself at home. But the food that comes is great quality and the ingredient combinations are great. I came on a Saturday just after opening on a cold day in January, and it was not crowded. However as this place picks up I could see it being a bit cramped. Well worth a brunch visit. They have a decent lunch menu as well. Watch for long wait times and call ahead.

The staff definitely seem to be working hard to create a positive customer experience: they had free coffee, granola and brownies; they handed out these special cards with secret discounts if you come back; and the servers and hostess were all around friendly and courteous.

I was 100% ready to not like this place when I was looking at the menu prices. They are essentially New York prices in downtown West Chester. Add bacon to your omelet 4 bucks, add cheese 2 bucks, mushrooms, 1.50 and so forth. Then the food arrived. Not only was the quality of the food amazing but the portions mostly justify the price. So I am here to write that I judged a book by its cover and I was wrong. Food was amazing, I had the french toast stuffed with peanut butter and bananas coupled with a bacon, american cheese, mushroom omelet that came with home fries (a potato) and probably the best toast ever. The french toast was crazy good. Nothing to write home about concerning the omelet except that it was quality bacon. So all in all. It is pricey but better than almost every other diner I have eaten at in West Chester (Roots is really good but small portions.).

If you're a fan of the one in Malvern, this is food wise the same thing. The menu and taste are the same, the only big difference is the setting. Located in downtown WC, it took over a very small space. That's my only real issue at this location. It has two floors but there are very few tables and it's very cramped because of the lack of size. Like the one in Malvern the food is good; getting the bacon is a must. They seemed to have worked any kinks they may have had out and it runs pretty smoothly. Food comes out quick and hot. Classic Diner is in general more expensive than other diners/brunch spots but they do here best to make it worth it with fresh ingredients and more refined cooking. They do classic dishes very well. If you're looking for adventurous dishes, head over to Market Street Grille. Thing this place does have over Malvern is that since it's located in WC, you can walk right next door and grab a drink after.

I had breakfast for lunch at the Classic Diner this afternoon. Walking in the door I was greeted with a smile and quick service. The decor is nice but the restaurant itself feels a bit small first walking in. Myself and two of my friends were brought upstairs to be seated in a larger dining area overlooking downtown West Chester. One of the other waiters said hello on our way up which is always nice. Our waitress was quick to take our drink orders and gave us just enough time to decide what we wanted. I had the eggs Benedict which was great. The eggs were done perfectly, the Canadian bacon was delicious and the English muffin was crunchy and fresh. It also came with a side of "home fries", which they put a different but tasty spin on. One of my friends ordered the scrapple and egg sandwich and subbed the toast for a bagel. It was a fairly large sandwich. My other friend ordered the Nutella strawberry French toast which looked fantastic. The presentation the chef delivers is excellent. Our waitress was attentive during the whole meal but was not overbearing. The prices were a bit higher than typical diner food but with the caliber of the dishes and the service that was provided, I am ok with paying a few extra dollars. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. The only reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is the size of the restaurant. A busy Sunday morning could make for some tight conditions.

BEST. BACON. EVER. I live in California but spend my summers in Pennsylvania. And every time I visit PA, I have to make a stop at Classic Diner-- several stops if I'm here for more than a weekend. They restaurant itself (I've only been to this location twice) is adorable and right in the heart of West Chester. Their food is always plated so well that I almost feel bad eating it. Almost. I've only ever gotten the two egg platter with classic bacon, which comes with home fries and toast, and I always add a side of avocado. Their other food looks great, but I always splurge for the same thing. Why fix what's not broken?

Another brunch place has arrived on the scenes of West Chester, PA As your typical twenty-something female, I guess you can say you can never have too many options as far as brunch is concerned. Luckily for me I have more options than Classic Diner. Classic Diner is housed in the remains of Jack's Steak & Shakes. Unlike Jack's, Classic is often crammed to the gills. The distance between tables never really bothers me if the food steps up to the plate. Additionally, if you're lucky enough to sit by the window, you simultaneously get a lovely view of Gay street and the strange feeling of being watched, probably only shared by mannequins. (I like to call these two tables Classic's "display tables") The price at Classic is even steeper than the other high-class brunch alternatives. The caveat is that the food is not as good as the competition's. As an eggs benedict fan, I have gotten variations of the benny each time I went. I met each time a rubbery version of a poached egg and a very, very salty hollandaise. The combination is strangely delicious and though I feel a bit overwhelmed by spice and salt when I eat there, I still enjoy the food enough to happily finish my plate. The real saving grace here, folks, is the absolutely DELICIOUS coffee that they serve. The coffee alone has kept Classic in my top 3 brunch locations. Also, anything they serve with lump crab is really good, but also very pricy. CONCLUSION: Drink your coffee while on display! quality: good enough for jazz! price: I think they buy their eggs from the guys that fix my car

I am a fan of the Classic Diner in Malvern. The West Cheater location not so much. If you do not like being in close quarters with the tables next to you, this is going to be an unpleasant experience. We have been there three times and only once was I comfortable. That was when we were seated outside. When one is inside, especially upstairs, there are constant interruptions when one is seated. Every time guest or staff had to pass ones table, ones gets bumped or someone's body part is striking you. I found it annoying. It is impossible to carry on a private conversation since you are so close to others. The food is not as good as Malvern and the service is very snarky. Typical for most of the places in town. This is not a place to go when it is busy. Try it on non rush hours.

I will agree with the others reviews concerning table spacing. To go as far as to say "uncomfortable" is ridiculous. If you want to have a private table, book reservations at a restaurant offering that service or even more practical STAY HOME. The food here is excellent. I would return. I had the filet and eggs, my girlfriend had a omelette and were completely satisfied. The service was also good.

Disappointed is how I would sum it up. I liked the Malvern restaurant but not this one, even though it is too expensive also. Pros: Really good bacon! Thick cuts, yum! Cons: Small, cramped and kind of cold inside Service is spotty Prices are expensive. $15 for a spinach tomato and cheese omelette, add $4.00 for a side of bacon! Ouch!!! No daily specials. Sorry, but I won't be coming back. My top 2 for breakfast in WC are Market street grill and Roots cafe. They are both 5 star in my book!

I visited The Classic Diner's West Chester location due the referral of a friend's experience at that Malvern location. I have to say I very much enjoyed the food even though I feel it was priced a couple of dollars too high. What I really DIDN'T enjoy was the ridiculously cramped table configuration upstairs. We opted to sit upstairs because the downstairs was freezing.....something the staff acknowledged they were aware of. As the server and hostess told us, the owners have configured the tables. I'm not sure if it was to squeeze more people in to reduce wait time or just to turn over more diners, but, it is a FAIL. The servers seriously can't even get to the tables in the corner without brushing up against the people seated in the middle aisle. And it's VERY uncomfortable to be trying to eat and have people's purses, coats and rear-ends brush you when they are sitting down or leaving. All in all, there are other places to eat a great breakfast in WC. Unless they warm up the downstairs or reconfigure the upstairs to actually accommodate diners, I'm not sure I'll return.

Avoid at all cost! I went there this Saturday and had possibly the worst dining experience ever and we ended up getting sick. There is barely any room both downstairs and upstairs. You're sitting on top of other people to the point that they need to move their plates when you're trying to sit down at your table. Secondly, the waitress was horrible. She took forever to take our order and had to ask twice for lemons. When she finally brought them over, she tossed them on a plate and they fell on the table. While waiting for our food, the power went out. The whole experience was laughable at this point and we didn't even have our food yet. The waitresses said something along the lines of "this happened 3 times already it's normal." Sorry, but I don't like eating my disgusting, undercooked waffle in the dark. Someone else at my table ordered a toasted bagel and since the power was out, the waitress shrugged her shoulders and basically said oh well and that she would have to wait until the power was back. That's all she ordered so only two out of the three of us had food. This is when it gets even worse. We asked for extra butter and were given little cups that were unrefrigerated and on a shelf in the wall. We should have trusted our instincts and not used it, but we really didn't think that they were oblivious enough to leave out old butter. Wrong. We got sick from this. Please don't go here. Hopefully the heath department will do something about this place soon.

We tried The Classic Diner for the first time and the food was good. I live in the borough so I can walk here but knowing that it's located next to one of the only parking lot that charges on Sundays is really unfortunate for business. We sat in the seat in the window facing the sidewalk on sunday after church and we saw a lot of people stop by, read the menu in the window and walk away. As we looked at our menus we understood why when we saw bacon for no less then $6 for any option. We just felt that everything was really pricy for the competition in the area. Although the food was very good we did not feel it was as welcoming as intended to the demographic in the area.

I love the diner in Malvern and would recommend it to anyone. The WC location is new, so I won't ding the service or food and will just say the Malvern food is excellent, but the WC location is very cramped. I am a pretty thin person and even I have trouble getting to my seat at a table upstairs. Once you are seated, you feel like you are right in the next table's conversation. I would never bring a weight conscious person here in the fear that it would make them feel bad about themselves. Probably not comfortable for tall people either.

I've eaten at the Malvern location, both breakfast and lunch. I was looking forward to having Classic Diner come to West Chester. We went for breakfast, service was ok, our server didn't offfer water, not a big deal but noticed that wasn't the case with all the other tables they were being asked if they wanted it. As for food, I'll go back again but this time for lunch. The breakfast items offered were boring. There was no special which I thought they'd have considering they are " a cut above". Why not offer a carb special ( pancake, waffle) and an egg special etc. The menu for breakfast was very basic, eggs but nothing creative or yummy. They had some good French toast dishes but overall a little disappointing. Market St. Grille has a great breakfast! They have breakfast burritos, excellent creamed chipped beef etc. I don't think Classic Diner has it better than Market St. grille for breakfast that's for sure. They decor is very nice though.

That's all she ordered so only two out of the three of us had food. This is when it gets even worse. We asked for extra butter and were given little cups that were unrefrigerated and on a shelf in the wall. We should have trusted our instincts and not used it, but we really didn't think that they were oblivious enough to leave out old butter. Wrong. We got sick from this. Please don't go here. Hopefully the heath department will do something about this place soon.

We tried The Classic Diner for the first time and the food was good. I live in the borough so I can walk here but knowing that it's located next to one of the only parking lot that charges on Sundays is really unfortunate for business. We sat in the seat in the window facing the sidewalk on sunday after church and we saw a lot of people stop by, read the menu in the window and walk away. As we looked at our menus we understood why when we saw bacon for no less then $6 for any option. We just felt that everything was really pricy for the competition in the area. Although the food was very good we did not feel it was as welcoming as intended to the demographic in the area.

Nice atmosphere on the tight side though. The sandwiches we had were excellent. The prosciutto and mozzarella on toasted Italian bread and the BLT avocado. Both recommended. Will return!!

I love the diner in Malvern and would recommend it to anyone. The WC location is new, so I won't ding the service or food and will just say the Malvern food is excellent, but the WC location is very cramped. I am a pretty thin person and even I have trouble getting to my seat at a table upstairs. Once you are seated, you feel like you are right in the next table's conversation. I would never bring a weight conscious person here in the fear that it would make them feel bad about themselves. Probably not comfortable for tall people either.

I've eaten at the Malvern location, both breakfast and lunch. I was looking forward to having Classic Diner come to West Chester. We went for breakfast, service was ok, our server didn't offfer water, not a big deal but noticed that wasn't the case with all the other tables they were being asked if they wanted it. As for food, I'll go back again but this time for lunch. The breakfast items offered were boring. There was no special which I thought they'd have considering they are " a cut above". Why not offer a carb special ( pancake, waffle) and an egg special etc. The menu for breakfast was very basic, eggs but nothing creative or yummy. They had some good French toast dishes but overall a little disappointing. Market St. Grille has a great breakfast! They have breakfast burritos, excellent creamed chipped beef etc. I don't think Classic Diner has it better than Market St. grille for breakfast that's for sure. They decor is very nice though.
