This restaurant is a treasure. Met two friends for dinner on a thursday night. Wow, what a treat. First sat at the bar, and the friendly bartender suggested the bourbon sour. it was a perfectly prepared cocktail. I had two, would have has two more if I wasn't driving! The kale and spinach salad was perfection. I had the flank steak for my entree. It was juicy and tender. I look forward to sharing this restaurant with friends and family. heading back next week.

We really enjoyed our dinner here last night. we got there a little close to closing time, but were welcomed in and shown to a table anyway. Service was excellent, Albert took care of us and chatted about a bunch of options and requests. Food was very good. The charred octopus had a balsamic reduction and aoli that gave the dish a really nice flavor overall. The new york strip was more of a filet medallion, and served with the fingerling potatoes with parmesan... makes my mouth water just thinking about it again. Recommend

Ate at Avero for a late business lunch and was quite pleased with both the service and the food. The professional service accommodated the business conversation perfectly without hovering, yet timely with the refills and check. Like that now see the menu has been expanded to include a wider variety of Italian fare lamb, steak, chicken. This menu expansion makes Avero much more attractive as a business destination. The prices are higher than what you see at other pizza establishments however just fine for business gatherings.

We have had several awesome meals in the past 2 months here. Their chef is really cooking up much more than we expected. Don't just get pizza here, that's good, but the rest of the menu is awesome.

This was my third visit my daughter and I decided to go there because both of r boyfriend were busy so it was a last minute thing .the hostess was very kind seeing that my daughter was on crutches do to a broken ankle she sat us close so she did not have to go far. As I said it was last minute kinda felt underdressed but we were treated very kindly. The food is amazing as was the service our waiter Albert was not only very handsome he was also great. Thank u Albert we felt bad because the place closes at 9:30 and we were not done til like 9:45 but he did not rush us he told us to take r time which was great . We shared a order of wing which were very good and we each ordered the rustic pizza which is truely amazing. This is my new favorite place food is delicious and service everytime I have been there ihas been outstanding. A while ago I was working late and order a pizza to go when I got there it was not ready so I sat at the bar to wait and one of the servers I do not remember his name but I do remember he was originally from Boston could not have been any nicer he asked if I wanted any water while I waited and they just keep me company while I waited as I said go for the food and outstanding service !! U will not b disappointed

Went there tonight for the third time. Food is pretty good- especially the pizzas. Pretty expensive. It is very loud and hard to hold a conversation. The service is very slow. We were there an hour before we got our food and our waitress disappeared when we were ready to go- we waited a long time for the check. This will be our last time going.

The atmospher is very inviting, open with a nice decor package. The servers are welcoming and attentive, the presentation of the food is nice but it was lacking in flavor. We have been twice, not sure we'll go back.

Wow! We came here to celebrate our 9 yr anniversary. Not only is the food exceptionally delicious and authentic, the service was magnificent, and Joe, the chef came out to talk to us. We swapped stories about growing up in Philly, and being in Italy, and he offered that when we come back, if it's pretty quiet, he'd be happy to make some special dishes just for us. Who DOES that any more? I can't WAIT to try the lunch menu! Don't walk... Run to Avero!

Great food, generous management. Excellent beer choices. Very tastefully done Italian restaurant in an easy to reach location with good parking. And the staff is on the ball and enthusied.

Food was great, but we were there during a slow time and the food took longer than normal. Server was apologetic and knew something wasn't working in the kitchen. Great drinks and appetizers were fantastic!

Planing an event there. Best event planner ever. Incredibly accommodating. The chef, Joe, is amazing. Pizza is the least of the menu. They really make entrees well. Scallops and Saltimbocca were delish. Get On It.

Really creative and delicious cocktails at a great price. I think it's a nice place to go and sit at the bar. During my one dining room experience though, out server did not know the menu, was not personable, never refilled our water. The appetizers were delicious but the main courses were beyond disappointing: no flavor, no seasoning. After a few bites, my dining companions decided to not even take home their food because they didn't enjoy it at all. To top it off, it was a Tuesday night with no line and no crowd, but we were rushed out of the restaurant. Everything was dark and cleaned by 915... but another family came in as we were leaving. I felt like the whole staff was disappointed to have another customer.
Fantastic vegetarian pizza tonight! Excellent wine options!! Great service!!! Will definitely return!!!!

This was our first time to Avero and it will be our last. We were greeted warmly at the door, but then left unattended at the bar for ten minutes...when there were maybe fifteen customers in the whole place. Our bartender/waitress did not smile and seemed bored with her night. We did not let that bother us, looking forward to some good "craft pizza". Disappointment followed. Two of the three of us ordered pizzas from a woefully uninspired and short list of offerings. The pizza was not bad (what pizza is truly bad), but I'd have been happier with any pizza joint in the area. Two things were noteworthy and led to us knowing we'd not return. (1) The "Wood Oven Shrimp and Vegetable Spiedini, over local greens, balsamic vinaigrette" had 4 lonely charred shrimp on a wooden skewer. Vegetables were a piece of zucchini I think and a mushroom on the skewer. It was not "over" local greens, it was a bowl of local greens. It was a salad pure and simple...for $19. And it was saturated in dressing. (2) It was my daughter's birthday, as noted when I reserved via Open Table. When the desserts came the waitress looked at the birthday girl and asked, "Would you like a birthday candle on that?" Huh? A laughable comment if on "Modern Family". Plain stupid in real life. Don't go. Save yourself some money and go to the pizza joint of your choosing.

We went with friends, we didn't choose this place. As we walk in from the outside we realized right was this was not a Saturday night place. It had kids, a huge TV and people were not dressed for a Saturday night out. We all started with the grilled octopus. Our friends told us it was the same one from Savona, as the chef here was the one from Savona. We later found out he was actually the sous chef, but whatever. The dish was a bit chewy for my taste, but I liked it overall. I ordered the lamb chops. They were fine, not great. My husband ordered the steak, which had to be sent back because it was over done. The manager came out to make sure the 2nd was to his liking. Our friends got scallops, pasta and a pizza. I only tried the pasta, which the waitress fussed that it was homemade. Really? It was BLAH. Our friends seemed to like their meal. The next day, however they text us to say the meal was not as good as the company. So I guess they didn't really like it either. I guess if you went with the idea of this being a pizza place it could have been good. We didn't.

Just went here for the first time and it was delightful. Atmosphere was friendly, warm, cozy, & inviting but still had some interesting, trendy/modern artwork on the wall. The staff were all friendly and we had fast, attentive service, but not too attentive if you know what I mean (they didn't hover, but when we needed drink refills or to be checked on regarding our food, they were there at the appropriate times, so timing was appropriate). They had a different stout (from Oregon) that my husband had never tried before, (and he's known for trying many new beers), and he really loved this one. I had an original cocktail I'd never seen or heard of before and it was great (apple cider, basil, cinnamon, rum, and mint....). Plus there seemed to be a lot of original looking cocktails to choose from on the menu. The fresh brushetta served with the bread was very tasty, (I'd eat it alone in a salad!) The creamy mushroom soup was delicious- had great flavor and was thick, smooth & creamy (but not too creamy or thick consistency- it was just right) and the portion size of it was an actual bowl, (not a cup). My husband had the calamari & he loved both the food & the sauces. The calamari was nice because it was only lightly breaded & fried (we don't like overly breaded/fried stuff because too much breading & grease takes away from the actual food). So the calamari was great because it had good flavor with the right amount of breading and not greasy- light & crispy. My husband's petite filet mignons were cooked perfectly, had good flavor and the sides of brussels sprouts and potatoes were very well done and tasty. My husband even liked the brussel sprouts, & he WON'T eat them at home when I roast them with olive oil and seasonings.) But he liked these. We had the tiramisu & mini cannoli's for dessert, and they were both excellent. Some of the best tiramisu I've had- light, creamy, with great flavor. The only thing I found average was my dinner of pork sausage cheese cavatelli, but I may have picked the wrong entree for me. I don't like really greasy foods, so maybe I should've steered away from ordering a meal with cheese and pork sausage in it, because it was a little too greasy for me. The cavatelli was good- seemed fresh with a good texture/consistency, and the flavor of the meal was good. I think it was just the cheese with pork sausage grease that was too much for me. But we'd both love to go back to try the pizzas and salads because they looked really good from what we saw served. Overall my husband's experience was perfect, and if I had stuck with the soup and salad or pizza, I think mine would've been too.

Wow! What a menu! Extremely difficult to decide on what to get here. The Marguerita pizza was excellent. Tasted like the handcrafted pizzas at Vetri and Nomad in the city. The sauce, cheese ratio was perfect and the flavor was delicious. The Sachetti purses were wonderful too...with spinach, fontina and prosciutto. Cooked to perfection. Can't wait to go back and try the wild mushroom and black truffle pizza as well as the veal pizza. Great meal at reasonable prices.

I attended a entrepreneurial networking event at Avero Bar Italiano. We enjoyed horderves and pizzas along with a drink of our choice. The samplings of food, wine and service were all excellent. I look forward to going back to enjoy a full meal.

What a fine & welcome addition to the Upper Main Line! This lovely, romantic (curtains lend to the intimacy of this otherwise large space) Italian /Pizza restaurant bar has quickly become a favorite go-to place for many. The staff is extremely friendly, professional & helpful in the decision-making process. With a little information from you, they'll gladly help you decide what cocktails, apps & entrees to order. We had bellinis & a coupla other fruity drinks, Mmmm, Delish!!! The portobello mushroom soup was very nice, flavorful with lotsa mushrooms garnishing the top. We split the Margherita pizza & a wonderful pasta dish. My only complaint would be the lack of cheese on the pizza. I like a good plain pizza with LOTSA cheese. The Margherita was offered up as the closest thing to it so we went with it. And I've had Margheritas at several different pizza restaurants, some of whom overdo it with the "gourmet" concept of less (cheese) is more, relying solely on the bread/crust, sauce, a li'l basil & the occasional dollop of cheese. This is SOOOO WRONG. Just give me MY CHEESE, LOL. So Avero, to sum it up, Wonderful food, atmosphere, & a friendly, accommodating staff. The pizza tastes great, crust is nice, soft & chewy & the sauce is tasty, but please think about either adding a "REGULAR" plain cheese (EMPHASIS on the CHEESE) pizza or at least adding A LOT more cheese to the Margherita. I would hate (as a plain pizza girl) to have to order a pepperoni or some other pizza JUST to get MORE CHEESE. This is my only criticism. Again, I believe Avero is a FABULOUS & Very Welcome Addition to the Main Line Restaurant scene. I will certainly be recommending this new fave to family & friends alike.

This cute BYOB in the heart of Wayne is the perfect place for Friday night dinner. I went with a few girlfriends and we started our meal with a cheese and meat platter with honey that was sweet and paired well with the accompanying cheeses; it was a great first course. I had one of the specials that night, a lasagna, which I couldn't help but devour and I even left my plate spotless...it was great comfort food for the cold, wintry night! The ambience was great, and as we were leaving, the place started to get a bit too crowded, which is always a good sign. If you don't mind the noise and the crowd, this place is for you. I will be back to try some more dishes!
Love, love, love this place! My husband and I first discovered Avero around January of 2014 while scoping out restaurants to use for our June rehearsal dinner. We had lunch at Avero and liked it so much we decided to book it on the spot. The management was so accommodating to what we wanted, they even invited us in for a "drink tasting," which was one of my husband's favorite activities during the whole wedding planning process. While there they also whipped up some meals for us to sample so we could nail down the menu, and nothing disappointed. Some of our favorites include the garlic bread Cesar, sacchette pasta made in house, tiramisu, meatballs, south philly pizza, the list is endless! We honestly haven't tried anything we didn't like here. The rehearsal ended up being a huge success, with everyone raving about food and drinks. One of our groomsmen even questioned how we were going to top the rehearsal dinner on the wedding day! Lastly, we went back recently for my husband's birthday. They must've recognized our name from the reservation (it's somewhat unique) and our server, Jeremy (who was AWESOME!) greeted us and asked if we would like to have the his and her cocktails we had at our rehearsal (I never mentioned we had it there prior this). The chef even sent out a complimentary dessert (pumpkin bread pudding with Amaretto sauce) that wasn't even on the menu yet. Needless to say, it was amazing. I really hope the word gets out about Avero. Not only is the food amazing, but they truly treat you like family there. Go see for yourself!

My boyfriend and I bought a groupon for this restaurant and actually decided to go on Valentine's Day (i was amazed this wasn't excluded by the group). I was very impressed with both the food and service, especially considering Valentine's Day meals are usually awful. There was a little bit of a back-up in the kitchen, so we were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time, but it gave us a chance to check out the cocktail list at the bar. We both ordered a specialty drink which was delicious. We were seated at a cute table by the window and immediately greeted by one of the nicest waitresses I've ever had. We ordered the fried artichokes (absolutely divine) and split a wood-fired pepperoni pizza and the saccheti pasta dish. All three dishes were delicious. We both agreed we would go back and try some of the other dishes. My only qualm was the dessert. We did the cannoli tasting for two. Though delicious, the cannolis were super tiny and the desert was a bit overpriced at 8.50. I saw some of the other desserts and they looked very good and worth the price. Overall, for what we ate and drank, $70 wasn't bad for a meal. I would definitely recommend to friends and family, and I can't wait for them to open up their outside seating.
My sister and I stopped here after reading a couple of the reviews. The pictures looked really good too. I wanted to order a speciality cocktail drink but none of them sounded good. They had a lot of liqueurs in the cocktail drinks which I'm not a fan of. The scallops were a little too salty and the 5 cheese pizza tasted like someone poured bacon grease on the pizza. I wasn't impressed with the meals. My sister really liked the mushroom soup though. The cannolis were fantastic!

3.5 stars max for average food. I was very disappointed in that I had been to Avero a while back for a private event and the food for that was terrific. Came here last night for Happy Hour - which was great for the $4 drink specials (vodka drinks or beer or a few house wines) and 1/2 price pizzas/flatbreads. I ordered a chicken picatta entree and it was just LOADED with capers - even after I had asked for "light on the capers". I can not imagine what the "normal" amount of capers would have been? Anyhow it made the dish exceedingly salty/vinegary. The drinks were fine and service was fine, too (not crowded at 4:45 PM on a Wednesday). Not sure I'll be rushing back here.

The atmosphere, the staff, and the food were great, but the cost was astronomical. I'd go back in a heartbeat if it were not the most expensive restaurant I've ever been to. I was wondering why it was so empty on a Friday night and now I know why. Hey, if you want a nice quiet meal and don't mind the price, it's a really nice place but be prepared to pay top price for everything. I won't be back, there are too many places out there where the food is just as good for a lot less money. And I had a coupon... Someone should adjust the price to $$$$$

Meh. Tuesday night dinner, on travel, sat at the bar; slightly dis-interested barkeep managed to break away from whatever else she was doing to take my drink ... then food order. Had lots of time to make my selection, which was odd given there was essentially no one else in the place, my thought being the service keeps repeat business away. Ordered the mussels - which were good, although there were 2 mussels in the order that were inedible (did not steam open) which was significant given that there were only abut 15 to begin with, an indifferent value for the cost. The spinach-kale salad was really very tasty. Asked for bread to go with the mussle broth, Ms Barkeep told me in an unconvincing manner "we're out of bread" which is very strange for an itialian restaurant? Anyway, they kept making pizzas as I watched, which was puzzling. Pizza crust is essentially bread, right? Long waits between order, service, check and credit slip resulted in lower tip from me. I just did not get the impression that my business mattered. Will not be back - even tho this is walking distance from my hotel this week.
I was so disappointed. My friend and I had been wanting to go here for a while. The decor is very luxe but unpretentious. I ordered a glass of wine and it was obvious the bottle was a little old and not in a good way. It tasted like it had been open for a while and gone sour. Then comes food. We ordered the meatballs, vegetarian white pizza, crab salad, and arugula salad. Pizza was good- maybe they should just stick to that. The meatballs tasted rubbery- probably left out and then reheated. Crab salad was tasty but too oily. Arugula salad was supposed to come with goat cheese, however it was missing. When we mentioned that, we were told they ran out of goat cheese. This is rude- we should have been told that BEFORE they brought the salad over. The waitress acted like she had been caught red handed and did not do much to remedy the mistake. She also asked if my friend wanted a different cheese but then had no idea what other cheeses they offered. My friend asked for feta and instead of telling her they didn't have it they just dumped a bunch of parmesan on top. Service was meh. Our waitress came multiple times but was lacking personality and menu knowledge. I probably won't be back.

Avero was a great dining experience! From the minute we walked in the door until we walked out we had GREAT service. Claire was our server. She truly made our experience the best it could be. In terms of food we had the octopus and the calamari to start. Both were very delicious. The octopus was our favorite as it was marinated and simply grilled to perfection. The calamari was very good with unique polenta breading. We had the South Philly Pizza. The pizza was perfectly cooked as we asked for it well done. I was skeptical about broccoli rabe on a pizza but it truly worked very well. I hope the locals take to this place so i can go back often.

Nice looking restaurant, but the atmosphere and music were a mismatch. Poorly-trained wait staff had no idea about wine or their specials. So so food. We had fried calamari, Caesar salad, chicken parmigiana and Marsala. Spaghetti and meatballs. We would go back to try the pizza, but would not reorder entrees.

There's somebody new on the block in Wayne and their name is Avero and they have incredible potential. The lovely wife and I attended a fantastic Yelp Elite Event here in late March. We were so impressed we made 7:00 PM OpenTable reservations here for last night (Saturday). So we showed up on time and were seated immediately. Anything I could say about the atmosphere here is irrelevant because it is about to change drastically and within days. They will have new booths, drapes and dividers making the current large room feel like several smaller more intimate spaces. It should also change the acoustics. It sounds great and I can't wait. If you like to enjoy an adult libation or two this is your place. They have a very large beer list and an incredible specialty drink list. I had an Italian Manhattan ($9) that was described as having a touch of burnt orange. Check out my pic and note that the orange twist is actually charred! Delicious. My wife enjoyed a Bourbon Sour that blew her away. While we were perusing the menu we were served beautifully plated and OMG delicious bread. Check out the sea salt and crushed black pepper in my pic. Of course the bread was baked in the wood fired oven. We decided to take more advantage of the oven and split a small pizza for an appetizer. The one we choose was appropriately named "Spring"- with prosciutto, asparagus, smoked mozzarella, and farmer's egg for $15. This light white pizza was cooked perfectly with just a slight char and a touch of that wonderful wood smoke flavor. Entrees were next and my wife choose the Day Boat Scallops with wild morel mushrooms and toasted pine nuts for $25. As you can see from my pic they were plated beautifully and she proclaimed them delicious. I choose Short Rib Ravioli with burgundy black truffle, Chianti, and whipped ricotta for $16. I found the portion size a little small but they were incredibly tasty with that slow cooked short rib flavor coming through with every bite. Service here was just fine last night with no problems. Our young waiter was efficient and two different managers stopped by to check on us. We understand that with the new furnishings will come a Grand Reopening! We'll be back for what we expect will be another fine four star experience.

Thanks to the incredible UYE that happened here I just had to book Avero for a good occasion in the future. And that finally came when I took my dad out to an early Father's Day dinner since we were in for an awesome wedding weekend. And overall Avero managed to deliver a lot of solid positives. Since last visit Avero added a lot of new booths, drapes, and dividers that succeeded in providing a few more intimate sitting areas to the expansive main dining hall. Add in a solid happy hour, a few chef tasting menu options, a well rounded beer and cocktail menu, and accommodating service; and they definitely have a few extra bonuses to make the visit worthwhile. The big emphasis on Avero's menu is wood fired pizzas, handmade pasta, and locally sourced ingredients; and the trifecta definitely managed to shine throughout. While I was disappointed to see the foie gras and proscuitto wrapped asparagus that the elite event crew feasted upon off the menu, I did enjoy savoring their delicious calamari again, even if the sauce was a touch more spicier than I remembered. Since I missed out on trying the bulk of their pizzas last time a pie was in order. And the special Spring Pizza that was topped with proscuitto, asparagus, smoked mozzarella, and farmers egg delivered big time. Since I also had to sample their pasta offerings and was craving seafood I decided to go with the fettuccine frutti di mare which delivered the best of both worlds. With gulf shrimp, pei mussels, buttery scallops, and fettuccine that was hand crafted to perfection swimming in marinara sauce, it managed to deliver a perfect bite after bite by the fork full. With offerings like that and a menu that features all kind of impressive appetizers, bistro inspired Italian fare, pizzas, and pasta, Avero has plenty of things to make it worth the visit.

This restaurant has easily become a staple and one of our favorites since it opened! The artisan pizzas are some of the best I've ever had, especially the margarita! The crust is chewy, the sauce perfectly seasoned and tasty and the cheese and basil are fresh. It doesn't get much better than this! I think the pizzas are a definite highlight here and I recommend this restaurant for its pizza alone. Appetizers are almost always a win, but he entrees can be hit or miss. For that reason, I have given this restaurant a 3-star rating. Because the pizzas are so good, you would expect the same level quality with main courses, however that isn't always the case. I recommend playing it safe and have a pizza and appetizer. I highly recommend coming here for Happy Hour! The bar tenders are helpful and nice, serve a mean cocktail. When you sit at the bar, they give you free pizza. You just can't beat that!

Overall it was a nice experience. We had the tuna, meatballs and octopus for starters and the pepperoni and sausage pizza and the risotto as entrees. Octopus was a tad disappointing. It was a bit salty. I love octopus so was really looking forward to this. The tuna was very good though. Pizza was real good and risotto was very rich. Very tasty but very rich. I'd say price wise it was slightly high on drinks but fair on food. Overall is was quite good but it didn't blow me out of the water.

I chose this restaurant because they were in the gluten free category search on Yelp. Not so much gluten free. They were accommodating but had very limited choices for gf, which the manager had to explain. The server could not. Cesar salad was excellent. Our entrees were salty: eggplant parm, gf chicken penne pasta, pork tenderloin. The scallops were the best. Dessert was excellent also. Expected a lot more from this place. I always see many cars parked outside after work. Maybe it's a better spot for happy hour. Lastly, and why the two star... Hair on bread plate and light colored cloth napkins. Gross! We were so hungry we stayed but it was an uncomfortable experience all around.

I had heard mixed reviews about this place from friends and family, but after hearing of some recent renovations and menu changes we decided to give it a go, and we couldn't be happier! We enjoyed a late Saturday lunch here and to say that the food was excellent is an understatement. My lunch date and I split the lunch portion of the green Alfredo which was nothing short of perfect. Had it been socially acceptable to lick the plate clean I would have! I wish I had gotten the dinner portion and had it all to myself! We also shared the vegetarian pizza which featured a nice thin wood fired crust, lots of cheese and loaded with fresh veggies - easily one of the better gourmet pizzas in the area! The restaurant is beautifully decorated - the space is warm and inviting and instantly makes you forget its part of a strip mall. The open layout probably gets a bit loud when the restaurant is busy, but for the 10 or so tables filled around 2pm it was just fine. The service was impeccable - just attentive enough, but not at all pushy which was nice given how long we lingered over our wine! The prices were perfectly reasonable for a nice lunch for two I think about $50 with two glasses of wine each. I'd recommend this as a date spot - much nicer than Bertuccis or Landmark and much higher quality at a similar price. Don't miss out!

Our concierge at the hotel recommended this place and we thought we would give it a try. His first recommendation of Ella's was spot on, so this one seemed like it would be a winner too. Maybe we hit an off night (there was nobody in the place), but I thought it was a pretty so-so place at best. First, the waiter was a little slow. Also, one of the people in my party ordered wine and they kept coming back and saying they were out of what she wanted (which annoyed her). Not to mention, the bread with the oil/parmesan and salt/pepper looked great on Yelp, but we got half a loaf with just olive oil - total let down. I ordered the Fettucinne with meatballs and it was totally mediocre. No flavor to the marinara (it tasted like tomato sauce, no spice) and the meatballs were only warm-ish. I found the whole place to be just ho-hom. If it was on my dime, I probably wouldn't even give it 3 stars.

I was super privileged to have first visited Avero for a free Yelp Elite event a while back. From that first visit, I was struck by how helpful and friendly the staff was, and how the food was super delicious. So when picking a Valentines dinner venue, Avero was a no brainer when I took into consideration that their Groupon did not black out holiday dates. Score! Avero semi-recently redid their dining area. It's intimately dark, but with plenty enough light to see your date, and your menus. Our server came over immediately after we were seated. I feel awful that I forgot to ask for her name, because she was adorable and amazing. Very enthusiastic about the menu, highlighted several of her favorite items, and managed to come off as sincere and not cheesy at all. She continued to be on top of service all night. My better half and I decided to order the calamari ($10) and the arancini (a special of the night) to start. The calamari was great, with both a delicious marinara and creamy, spicy aioli. Be careful, they fry up fairly hot peppers in with the calamari too, and if you're not careful you'll bite into one thinking it's squid! That'll wake you up. The arancini was tasty, but a little forgettable. For mains, we split the meatball margherita pizza ($15) and the casareccia with sauteed shrimp ($15). Their meatballs are a veal and ricotta mixture, and they were nicely browned on top of the pizza, giving it great texture. I even enjoyed the pizza dough flavor all by itself. But the casareccia pasta dish was the surprise star for us. It had sauteed shrimp, pancetta, pistachios and was tossed in a sundried tomato pesto sauce. I never would have picked this, but my guy did and we loved it. It wasn't an overly large portion, but the flavors were fantastic. I thought the prices at Avero were very reasonable, given the high quality of the food, the nice service, and the romantic ambience. Cocktails and glasses of wine were all around $9-$12, which is a few dollars more than I enjoy spending. But overall, everything was fantastic and yummy and I will definitely be back!

Fantastic local pizza/Italian restaurant. The grilled octopus appetizer is delicious. The south Philly pizza is incredible. Salad starts was good too, very fresh. Outstanding service and a nice, comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend this place and hope that it becomes a permanent fixture on the main line.

I decide to get this restaurant a second chance and I'm so glad I did. They fixed all of my issues that I had initially. The Atmosphere has greatly improved. they took out the goofy umbrella tables and put in booths and warm attractive curtains... It's more like "a real restaurant" now. I ordered ( or shall we say re-ordered) the pizza with truffles, mushrooms and egg. This time around I was very pleased. The crust was perfect, crispy and chewing with the wood smoked flavor really created a delightful pizza sensation. My little five-year-old daughter ordered the pizza off the kids menu which was amply sized and fantastic. The server gave me enough Diet Coke to serve an army and was very attentive. I'm looking forward to putting this restaurant into rotation.

My husband and I went for dinner last night. We booked reservations online. My husband and I shared a good salad of kale and spinach. The white bean dip was tasty, however, the soft bread that was served with the dip was not Italian style, and was not worth eating. I prefer crusty bread and or bread that would be used to make pizza.. wood fired. Isn't this place supposed to be known for their wood fired pizza??? What a disappointment in the bread/pizza department! The meatball pizza was average at best and my chicken Marsala was very salty. I had higher expectations of this restaurant since they have wood fire pizza. There is a lot of competition on the Mainline and I suggest that this establishment step up their game with the food if they want to continue to stay in business. Although the ambiance and service is good, the food is mediocre at best!

Nice little place. Recommended. Would return. Great food and service. Not too pricey either.

I was surprised to see only three reviews of this restaurant so far. It's been open a long time. I visited during lunchtime and was greeted by the very earnest and helpful host. I told him I wanted take out pizza and he was able to oblige. I ordered, was assured it would take only 5 or 6 minutes, so I left to walk around and visit the liquor store. I noticed the decor was rather spare and industrial looking, and not in a very pleasing way, at least to me. The restaurant is quite large. There is a brick oven where they cook the pizzas. The pizza, a South Philly, was ready within ten minutes. It was very good, but slightly overcooked. Parts of the bottom were blackened, which affected the taste in a not so great way. However, the ingredients on top were really good. Good chile spice, nice broccoli rabe, and nice sausage too. A "gourmet" pizza. Individual size, however, was $15. Not a great deal at all. If I visit again, I do hope they cook it properly.

We just had a wonderful dinner here. The shortribs were fantastic and my fiancee had the cavatelli and raved about it. Our tri color salad was delicious as well. Martinis are bigger than most restaurants which is always awesome. Kyle our server was superb. We really enjoyed our date night but make a reservation because this place is going to be busy. Also, the chef came by to say hello which was really cool. If you want a Philly restaurant experience without leaving the mainline stop by. Claire.
We had our rehearsal dinner for our recent wedding at Avero Bar Italiano and could not have had a better experience! I got in contact with Scott, the event's manager at Avero, after a terrible experience with a different location. Scott was amazing to work with and was eager to make the experience a great one. We worked with Scott to craft a custom menu that fit our and our guests tastes and to create a wonderful atmosphere. Scott was always willing to make suggestions to add to the evening. To start off our evening, we began with a 30 minute cocktail hour as people arrived. Chicken Parm and Meatball sliders were passed around as well as two signature drinks (Blueberry Lime Mojitos and A Cherry Whiskey Smash). We got RAVE reviews on the cocktails. They were absolutely delicious! Next we moved into the private back room which was set up with floral arrangements and candles to create a very warm, fun environment. First course was calamari with a spicy dipping sauce for the tables to share. Second course was a Burrata Mozzarella with an Arugala salad. Absolutely delicious! For the main course, guests had the choice of the flank steak, zuppa di pesce, papperdelle with veal, or the mushroom risotto. Everyone loved all the options and all the food turned out delicious and fresh! Dessert was a tasting plate of various items. All the food was fresh, local, and delicious and you couldn't beat the price at $35 pp. Avero also has a great beer and wine selection and everyone was able to find something they liked. The waiters were wonderful and kept the food and drink coming at a great pace. Absolutely wonderful experience and I could not reccomend this location more for any sort of events, especially rehearsal dinners!

This is our first time here and it's a real great place. They're busy, at least it looks like that now when we are here, but I'm not complaining. The food is amazing. I just had the best marguerita pizza and it was awesome. I can't say much about the pasta but the pizza here is totally worth the visit. My friend had the meatballs, and she said it was great. The waiter was also very courteous checking in on time to time. It's busy and so a bit of a hassle but the food and service truly makes up for it.

I enjoy there food and their atmosphere, it is very nice an elegant, but they through in a bit of fun by popular music. The food is great, especially the pizza, and the staff is very attentive; however, sometimes when I eat there I real sickly afterwards, but that's just me. I would definitely recommend this place for not only adults but also children.

Went here for my mother's birthday dinner last night and I wish we would have gone somewhere else. Our server was nice but she was all over the place. It took twenty minutes for us to even receive our drinks and a whole hour before we were served our food. Although it was a Friday night, I can't understand why everything took so long. It's a small restaurant and it wasn't nearly as busy as to justify the sporadic service. The food that arrived was decent, but definitely not worth the prices they were charging. The restaurant's saving grace is the decor, but I honestly think I've had better food and better service at Macaroni Grill. I wouldn't recommend unless you're in the area and need something to do

It just wasn't that good. Service was pleasant but pushy, food was mediocre and overpriced, wine was gross.

My wife and I were in town visiting friends. We are from ny. We are food snobs. This place was excellent. Casual atmosphere but not a pizzeria joint. Food prices reasonable for the quality .we had a wood fired pizza with the works , excellent . I had the short ribs and wife had the bolognase . Both top quality. I don't drink wine, but those that did said the selection and knowledge of staff was very good. Menu is varied but not an encyclopedia of options . My only negative comment is the bar is beautiful but was unattended by a bartender. I tried to get a drink at the bar and no one around. Overall a really nice place. Would go back for sure .

Name is new. Pizza is not based on what i experienced and what i read under the other name. Still super expensive and incredibly mediocre. This place doesn't understand the equation of cost and value balance. If I had to choose between a $2 Ellios Pizza out of a box and a $20 personal from Avero, the Eliios is a better proposition. Avero pizza is waaaaay out of appropriate price point. Meh

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I look forward to sharing this restaurant with friends and family. heading back next week.

i really enjoyed this place on 1st visit so i bought the groupon for second visit. meatballs were delicious and pizza was very good. also, the margaritas at the bar were delicious and very reasonable. would definitely recommend.

(2)Sean M.

(5)Bill F.
Great food! Great Atmosphere! Wild Boar Pasta and Calamari are a must!!! The Pizza selections are fabulous!
(5)Timothy M.
Great food, generous management. Excellent beer choices. Very tastefully done Italian restaurant in an easy to reach location with good parking. And the staff is on the ball and enthusied.
(5)Matthew F.
Food was great, but we were there during a slow time and the food took longer than normal. Server was apologetic and knew something wasn't working in the kitchen. Great drinks and appetizers were fantastic!
(4)Keith L.
Planing an event there. Best event planner ever. Incredibly accommodating. The chef, Joe, is amazing. Pizza is the least of the menu. They really make entrees well. Scallops and Saltimbocca were delish. Get On It.
(5)Shannon J.

My fiancée and I came here for Valentines Day. Service was wonderful and the food was delicious! We will definitely return!

We tried Avero on a whim to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. When we walked in we thought it was strange that it wasn't crowded since it was 7pm on a Saturday night. Once seated, we sat for 5-10 minutes waiting for our waiter. He quickly took our drink order once he came over and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. Drinks came right away and were good. My husband had the calamari for an appetizer which he said was good and I had the warm garlic bread Caesar salad... Croutons were not warm, nor were they crispy. They were, however, very tasty. We both had pizza for a main course. The white margarita pizza was okay. A little bland. My husband had the summer pizza and liked it. For dessert we had creme brûlée (good) and blood orange sorbet (amazing!!). Elvis (the new gm, maybe?) stopped over a few times to check on us and see how our meal was. Seemed like a nice guy and we watched him remedy one or two issues while we were there. Overall, I would go back to see the fall or winter menu (we ordered from the summer one) and maybe try a pizza with sauce the next time.

First time eating here, very nice atmosphere. Very clean and the staff was really nice. The glasses were cool, I really liked the shape.. It was different than most restaurants. The menu was ok, great choices to choose from but could have slightly more options. We ordered calamari as the appetizer and it was good (not the best I've had). The sauce was really good though. They brought bread out before our meals and it came with a bruschetta salsa. Very tasty!! For my entrée I ordered Chicken Marsala with linguini and mushrooms. The Chicken Marsala was good. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was too salty. Otherwise very good. For dessert I ordered the Chocolate torte. Again, was good. The presentation was beautiful. You will spend a decent amount of money here, but it's worth it. Definitely recommend eating here and will be going back for the pizza!!!
(4)Daisy G.

They appear to be closed. The phone number doesn't answer the website is down and the place is dark.

(3)T L.
Someone should adjust the price to $$$$$
(2)R B.

I went to Avero Italiano for dinner since I purchased a Groupon for this restaurant after missing the Yelp Elite event here this year. The restaurant is located right off of West Lancaster Avenue with a decent amount of parking outside. Avero has a casual Italian restaurant interior with a bar and stone stove behind the bar. The seating arrangement is a bit more private than the typical Italian restaurant. The hostess sat us down and we were welcomed by our friendly waiter Kyle. Kyle provided very good service while we were at the restaurant and ensured we were satisfied with our experience while dining here. We even received free glasses of wine due to the small wait at the bar. This was a very nice gesture and definitely added to the overall experience. Chef Joe also came around to the tables and checked to make sure everybody was enjoying their food which is a nice addition to the experience at any restaurant. From the Antipasti section of the menu, we decided to share the beef tenderloin flatbread as well as the grilled Mediterranean octopus. Both of these items were phenomenal, from the combination of flavor on the flatbread including the truffle to the well-cooked and flavored octopus. I definitely recommend both of these dishes and would absolutely get them again for myself. For our entrees, we decided to share the prosciutto arugula pizza combined with the quattro formaggi pizza which was absolutely delicious. This was a custom pizza and even the waiter and chef thought it was a great combination of their pizzas. We also ordered a specialty tagliatelle pasta with seafood such as scallops and shrimp which was pretty good. Both of these entrees just added to the overall satisfaction that this restaurant was providing to my taste buds. For dessert, we went with a sea salt caramel cake and a squash crème brûlée. I enjoyed both of these desserts with a grappa. The only disappointing part about the restaurant was the fact that there wasn't a cheese dish as well as a port offering. A cheese dish is a great way to end a meal anywhere and there are plenty of amazing quality Italian cheeses that would well represent this restaurant. And although port is not Italian it would be a great addition to the dessert menu. Regardless, the desserts and grappa were very good. Overall, Avero Italiano provided phenomenal food and great service. I highly recommend this place to anyone considering eating here.

Great pizza Meatballs and pasta Service was great and hope to get back soon

Wonderful Italian food without having to trek all the way into the city. Great spot to bring my family from out of town, but terribly loud inside.

Claire.

I really enjoyed this place. The octopus appetizer was a very generous portion and cooked very well. The wine was a nice pour and surprisingly I tried a certain red wine for the 1st time. The crab salad went well to follow the octopus. And last but definitely not least, I ended the meal with a delicious white chocolate creme brûlée. I'd definitely recommend this place, and don't forget to look out for the groupon deal we used! Oh, even the accompanying bread was a yummy blend of grains.

(5)Thomas J.

Meh
