14 layer eggplant was light and tasty. Pure eggplant with tomato sauce and a little bit of cheese. Highly recommended. Their lasagna is supposed to be one of their famous dishes as well, but it is on the heartier side. Atmosphere is nice. We sat on a chilly night in the room with a fireplace. It was cozy. Also, great location right on the Delaware River. It seems like a more middle aged clientele, it's not really a hot, new restaurant. More of a conservative, nice, laid back place. Myself and my friend were the only people under 45 I'm guessing.

I don't normally write reviews, but this place was too good not to. I ate at Francisco's for the first time last night, with my parents, my husband, my brother & his girlfriend. The service was exemplary--our water glasses never empty, crumbs brushed from the table after each course, kind, attentive and helpful servers. Then there was the food. WOW. The list of specials made it impossible to choose what to eat--luckily there were enough of us that we could share and sample a bit of each others dishes. Every dish was incredible--between the asparagus & crab bisque and the lobster fra diavolo--I was in seafood (and delicious pasta) heaven. We miraculously saved some room for dessert and all split the flourless chocolate cake with gelato and the creme brulee. We were given a complementary shot of sambuca with our coffees which was another great touch. Thank you Francisco's On The River!

I was pleasantly surprised by this BYOB on River Road. This was my dinner after attending the Phillips' Mill Photography Reception, so we were in the last seating and sated with hors d'oeuvres from the earlier party. Despite the fact that we were "just having entrees," the staff was attentive and polite, though when we changed our minds about having bread, we never saw it. The food was quite good. Since I had been served the worst scampi imaginable when dining at another restaurant with the same diner, I ordered the fruitti da mare on a lark. It was beautifully prepared, spicy with well cooked pasta and tasty seafood. I missed the bread mainly because I wanted to sop that delicious sauce! Too many continental restaurants put innovation first at the expense of providing competently prepared renditions of the classics. They are classics for a reason, and on a chilly winter night in the country, a hearty and tasty meal is appreciated. Prices may be a touch high, but portions were ample, and since I enjoy wine with a meal, bringing my own bottle and avoiding the markup more than made up for it. (Remember - it's not a bargain if the food is bad.) If I am up in this neck of the river again, I will definitely stop in.

Great little Italian BYO right on the river in beautiful Washington Crossing, PA. The first thing you will notice upon entry is the cute and elegant decor, which is perfect for a romantic evening or a dinner with a large group of friends. Even though Francisco's has a great river front location, views are lost on winter evening meals as the area is pitch black after nightfall. Food is a bit pricey, but I think the quality and portion size is about on par with price. I had the pasta alla ciopinno, a pasta dish soaked in a nice white wine broth and smothered with a variety of seafood--mussels, clams, salmon, tilapia, and shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection. My only complaint was that whoever made it went a little overboard with the fresh ground pepper. Service was spot on and incident free. All in all, I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area. I do love me BYO's :-)

Lovely view of the river if you are in the front room. BYOB but no mixers if you bring liquor. I brought vodka (I didnt want wine or beer) and they had nothing to mix it with - no tonic, no cranberry, nothing. Food was good, but not great. Waitstaff very nice and responsive.

This was my first time back since it was Cafe Marcello. Food was very good, I had the Frutta di Mare, with arugula and radicchio salad. Prepared well, and the service was excellent- I will return again!!!

Although the food was fine we found the attention to customer's comfort was totally missing. We were put in a corner with absolutely no room to move. We saw many other tables and when we asked to move we were told they were reserved. We had made a reservation as well and felt there was no accommodation for our request. Apparently they have their favored customers and we weren't one of them. We felt overlooked the entire night. When a loud party left towards the beginning of our meal, haven't been given our concerns, they could have rearranged the tables to make us more comfortable or asked if we wanted to move. No effort was made to do this. There was no gesture to offer us a complimentary dessert or coffee to appease our discomfort. It was a very unsophisticated waitstaff that didn't know how to properly handle the situation. I called the following day to voice my displeasure and no one have the courtesy of returning my call. Overall it was an unpleasant dining experience. I had picked out the restaurant to take our friends on their anniversary and was totally embarrassed by the treatment we received. Food is not everything. In today's competitive market you need to address all issues.

Our area really has needed to kick it up a notch over the past few years. Downtown Yardley, while having some staples that are just plain good, has really gotten away from exciting and excellent dinner options. Enter Francisco's on the River. My husband and I found this gem on a hectic night and, thankfully, they had ONE table open for two. Reservations highly recommended. The waitstaff was awesome, the food exceptional, and the experience top notch. One recommendation: If it's a chilly night out, and the restaurant seems to be booked, make sure to bring a coat. There is no vestibule to shield you from a gusty cold draft every time the door opens, so Husband and I froze every time a new party came in.

This was our second time here and I left thinking again the food is just very ordinary. I had a Cesar salad which had no taste and then follow that with a predue chicken rosemary so very bland. The hostess and wait staff were just fine but the food was just OK not really worth coming back for.

Yikes! What a disappointment ! Went to this restaurant knowing in the past that they took great care of us on special occaisions. It was my hiusbands 60 th Bday I called the manager ahead of time (days) and let him know the situation. I requested a special room. He told me there were other requests for the room. I was fine with that. I made arrangements to come meet with him to make the evening special for my husbands 60 th Bday and he was very dismissive and treated me terribly. When we were there he never once came and acknocladged our presence at the restaurant. Someone at the table was dissatisfied with their meal and it went on deaf ears. No dissappointed in John and his behavior. We will never go to this restaurant again!!!!!

I went here with my boyfriend last week on a cold winter night and we had a great overall experience at Fransisco's. We were given a great seat in front of the fire to keep warm, and our server was knowledgable and attentive. We ordered two appetizers: scallops and mussels- scallops were excellent in a light but delicious lobster cream sauce. He ordered the Hawaiian butterfish and I got the fra diavlo seafood pasta, both very delicious, although take caution when ordering the butterfish if you have a sensitive stomach (they do warn you!). We finished off the meal with cappuccinos and a homemade coconut dessert. I loved the meal so much I am taking my mother there tomorrow night to celebrate her birthday. Would recommend this place to anyone, it's a little gem tucked away on the side of the river. Will definitely like to come back in the summer to get a nice view of the river at night.

It's difficult not to sound too effusive when telling about our fabulous experience at Francisco's on Saturday night (and, no, I'm not a relative!). I planned a surprise birthday party for my husband and invited 24 people from different cities and various ages. John, the manager, was most helpful and responsive in helping to make the night special. He patiently addressed all of my concerns ahead of time, both by phone and email, and he made sure that everything was perfectly planned. His suggestions about menu selections were crowd-pleasers; we offered people a choice of 5 entrees and all were hits with the guests. We had choices of beef, veal, fish, and pasta, so we were able to please anyone's palates and diets (we even had one gluten-free guest who was cheerfully accommodated). Guests raved about their meals throughout the evening. We dropped our wine off the day before and when we arrived at the small, private room, the tables were tastefully set with wine selections on each. The ambiance was elegant and the noise level was perfect for conversation. And, I should add, the rest of the restaurant was packed, so the kitchen and staff were able to juggle the party and others at the same time. I can't say enough about the quality of service. Our main server, Colleen, was attentive, timed everything perfectly to allow for socializing and eating, and was cheerful and helpful. I would ask for her again if I were to have another event at Francisco's. She was one of the best servers I've ever worked with. Many people commented that the night was perfect, largely due to the excellent food and the fabulous staff. We could not have asked for more. If you are looking for the perfect place near Washington's Crossing, this would be it.

The food here was decent...The whole wheat garlic bread was delicious and the meal kind of went down from there. It's a very nice setting, and the service was adiquate but I dont think the food lived up to my expectations. I would try it again, but overall was not thrilled.

I had the most amazing baby shower here today. The servers and the manager were excellent. The food was incredible. I've never been to a shower this great and I'm not just saying that because it was mine. I chose the chicken and it was awesome. The mashed potatoes and vegetables it came with were great. The salad and dessert were excellent. I had been here before and never been disappointed. Definitely a good place for your next special event.

An exceptional dining experience.. A gem! Wonderful service, diverse menu, warm and inviting ambience. our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu, and our food was delicious, from a peach and goat cheese salad to Fettucine Bolognese, Farfalle with sausage, fresh tomatoes, porcini mushrooms and olives. served in a timely manner without being rushed. the desserts are homemade and ours were fantastic.. Save room !

As soon as you stop here, you can see what makes this place stand out: a lovely view of the river, at least outside winter and if you are seated within the glass-enclosed front porch. We did, and it was delightful, cheerful and spotless. The staff is perky and friendly, but Josh B.'s comments in his closing graf are spot-on. Not just one, but two waitresses would chime together about how this or that is absolutely the greatest, best ever, unbelievably good and so on, but with no specifics. All they needed were pompoms to complete the cheerleading effect. Southern Italian food is supposed to be America's favorite, and by that popular standard we had nothing but pleasant dishes. However, if you prefer the more elegant northerly Italian offerings of, say, the excellent Il Melograno's in nearby Doylestown, Francisco's may come off as culinarily less exciting. Indeed, it was the nonstandard dishes that excelled. Shrimp bisque, if not outright memorable, was very good, and the Hawaiian butterfish was simply scrumptious. Lasagne, that old standby, used superior ingredients and is stacked high -- a tad clumsy to cut through but very nicely prepared, and you won't need to eat another thing for hours. Another warhorse, tiramisu dessert, is homemade and equally enjoyable. Even the standard bread (garlic bread is extra) and butter were above average, and we enjoyed the espresso. If you are a big fan of southern Italian eats and lovely romantic views, you'll probably fall in love with, and maybe at, Francisco's. A thirtyish married couple next to us was holding hands and cooing like starstruck teenagers, so this may be just the place to create or rekindle that special relationship. And what a great place to make your guests feel renewed! So we'll almost certainly be back now and then, provided we can get seating on the porch. As to the reported practice -- outrageous if true -- of asking diners to vacate their table after two hours during rushed periods, best is to go weekdays when there are plenty of extra tables to be had. If we go weekends, we will do so only if they agree in advance not to ask us to vacate our table to make room for others. You may wish to do the same.

I happened to walk in without a reservation and was seated right away at one of the best tables, in a windowed corner overlooking the Delaware river. I wouldn't recommend this walk-in method, though. Most people I overheard talk say it gets busy and the owner said several times to callers that reservations were recommended. This place is BYOB if you want wine, which I didn't know, and was sorely missing from my meal. Certainly not their fault, nor mine since I'm not from around this area. I had an arugula and radicchio salad with shaved Parmesan and a lime vinaigrette. Beautiful presentation. I little heavy on the citrus, but otherwise a great tasting salad. For my main course, I had a med-rare Ahi over a bed capellini. There were sauteed grape tomatoes, green and black olives, pine nuts, and capers. Essentially, a slightly stepped up version of a picatta pasta dish. The Ahi was a perfect medium rare, although, for some reason the flavor was very flat; not the typically fresh and bright flavor of you tend to get with Ahi. This dish was rather disappointing. The portion was good and the dish was filling and ok, but far from impressive. For dessert I had chocolate mousse pie and a latte. The chocolate mousse was sublime! The chocolate was perfectly light and airy in both flavor and texture. It had a very atypical oreo cookie crust where the oreo was not the usual compressed crumbs, but rather like a thin, moist dough. The only complaint about the latte was that it was served in a stemmed glass which made it tough to hold, although it was a great compliment to the mousse. I would say that the waitress/owner needs to do a better job describing their menu, and more so with the specials. I overheard too many other tables ask about something and it was described as 'great' or 'really good.' A fish should be described by the firmness and flavor of it's flesh, the soup by what kind of base it is and what other flavors are pronounced or blended with other flavors or components. Other than that, the service was quite good; friendly and well timed.

I wanted to write this review after seeing so many negative ones. I hope that potential diners take these bad reviews with a grain of salt, they are not justified in my opinion after two visits here, one just a few days ago, and one in 2014. Several reviews mentioned cost, it may be considered high to some but you have to consider the area. These prices are comparable to what others are charging nearby, and some of the other establishments are not BYOB. Also, each time I've dined here I was able to get a groupon that actually made this place a bargain! I noticed that several other tables also had coupons to use, and the other restaurants nearby do not have these offers. As far as the food, one reviewer stated that the chefs were "competent" and that is a good description. But you need to also consider the ingredients, and in my experience they are very good( I've had both fish and shellfish here and can assure you mine was not frozen as one reviewer stated) Several reviews mentioned the salads and they are very nicely composed and completely fresh, big enough to share as well. For diners looking to challenge themselves, or interested in seeing chef's interpretations or exotic cuisines, this is not the place. But if you want a simple, well executed, mediterranean influenced meal, this is a great choice. In my experience the wait staff has been very good. On my most recent visit I looked at the dessert tray and was tempted( we were told all items are made in house and they looked it too) but was so full that I could not eat another bite. If you live nearby or visit this area from time to time, keep on the lookout for groupons and try Francisco's!

Nice atmosphere. Pleasant service. Delicious red mashed potatoes. Lamb rack did not taste like lamb (never had lamb without the distinct lamb flavor) and no rosemary as stated on menu. Pasta dish tasted like a jar of capers and nothing else. We will not return. Great salad and toasted house bread though.

We had a retirement party at this location for 30 people and couldn't be happier with our selection. We live out of town and John was excellent to plan with coming out of town. The staff went above and beyond during the event, we had multiple guests commenting on how good the serving was. I had the pork sirloin, which was excellent. The mashed potato sides where I thought the highlight of the food, in addition to the opening antipasti veggies. I would go back to this place Again, and highly recommend for special events. Our event was a lunch and was able to rent the whole restaurant for a very reasonable price.

The restaurant gets 5 full stars for taste of food so if you are looking for somewhere that blows your taste buds away this is it. The only reason I dock them a star is because of this: The price is a little bit high for me, but I am in my early 30s and I truly appreciate great food for reasonable;e prices. I will say that the pricing is somewhat level with other similar establishments of this kind in this area. We really enjoyed the scallop appetizer but for $13 you would think there would be more than 3 of them on the plate (but they tasted fantastic). The goat cheese and walnut salad was plentiful (for two people) and it tasted very fresh. I had the lobster ravioli which was very good. If you want a good pasta dish this is it. the honest best part was the tomato-based sauce it was in. The sauce was so far away from a traditional red "tomatoey" commercialized sauce and was so much more tasteful, and buttery. My wife even used the homemade wheat garlic bread (very good) to mop it up off my plate! My wife had the dish called "Bob's plate" which was a about $30 and consisted of fettuccine covered with a red, light sauce and two of the following: shrimp, scallops, and salmon pieces. All in all, the food tasted great, as stated at the beginning, but I would have appriciated just a slightly lower cost for the meal...maybe I'm cheap! It is definitely worth trying if you have not been and you live within 10-12 miles. Note - It has evening hours during week and weekend that I can tell and it IS BYOB.

Went back recently and found subpar food quality. Lukewarm pasta dishes as well as coffee during a busy night. Best to go on a week night when the kitchen isn't swamped. Desert cakes probably supermarket quality, nothing exciting and bland. Maybe the owner is spread a little too thin between here and his other locations? Francisco's is loosing its luster!

Tried this place twice before. Wanted to like it since it's so close to home. However the fish options are mostly frozen or low cost options. For example tilapia,farm raised salmon, butterfish, and cod are their main entrees. Their food is overpriced and tasteless. Their wait staff is also mixed. Some are really helpful and others are pushing all the options like " you want bottled water, and wheat garlic bread" which are all up charges. Stay away from this pathetic attempt at a gourmet restaurant.

Amazing dinner as usual...Francisco went out of his way to go to his other restaurant to ensure that my father got the dish of his request that was not on the menu tonight...the Hawaiian fish was amazing and so was my appetizer---the scallops in a lobster cream sauce This was a special on the menu.

I recently ate here with my wife and another couple. My wife and I split the Caprese Salad. The plum tomatoes were not ripe but the mozzarello was very good. I thought there was a little too much pesto on the mozzarello and tomatoes. The Farfalle con Salsiccia e Aglio was delicious, and the sausage was cooked to perfection. My wife had the Chicken Porccini which I didn't get a chance to taste but she was pleased with the dish and the portion. Our only complaint with Francisco's is the portion size - it's too small for what they charge. Regardless, because of the flavors and textures we will return. This is a BYOB.

Francisco's on the River has a great location for a restaurant. It's all by itself, right on the Delaware river, and has great views during the day throughout the seasons. I wish the décor inside had more of an effort behind it. I realize that décor does not mean much if the food is amazing, but I was hoping for a rustic style, or maybe even a cottage-chic look for this place. It would make the dining experience that much better if it looked a bit prettier in here. Also, carpet in a restaurant is just always a no-go for me :( The food though, is very nice! Simple Mediterranean cuisine, my roasted beet and goat cheese salad with a lemon vinaigrette was crisp and the candied walnuts were a great touch. It's a simple salad, I get it all the time because I'm obsessed with beets, but you can mess it up, and this place did not. For dinner, I went with the filet pasta con gorgonzola. Filet mignon, fettuccine in a cream sauce, and gorgonzola cheese? How can you go wrong with that creamy delicious concoction!! You can't. I asked that the filet be medium rare, and it was definitely more medium than medium rare, but even with the minor mishap, still a very flavorful dish. Very good meal overall

My husband and I just went here for the first time with another couple. We did not get the river view but the small but cozy inner dining room was still very nice. Our waitress was wonderful and her recommendations were spot on. She even went so far as to suggest that my salad was a shareable size and brought it out already split on two plates for my husband and I. I had the Bronzino with crab risotto, my husband had some mango fish (can't remember the name of it!) that was a special, our friend had the eggplant parm and her husband, the "manly" lasagna. Our plates looked as if we had licked them when we were finished! My only complaint is that I felt this restaurant was a bit pricey for a BYOB. With 4 entrees, 2 salads, 1 iced tea (only drink purchased that evening), and 4 desserts...the total bill came to $163. A bit pricey considering we didn't even have coffee. I might recommend for a special occasion but I wouldn't rush back mainly due to price.

BYO, and abosolute high quality food and preparation. Dinner only and make reservations for Fri/Sat. A charming atmosphere with the river across the road. Service is always attentive. I generally do not like salads, but anything they prepare is delicious. All foods have the perfect balance of spices, which is not the norm even for touted restaurants. The most impressive aspect of Francisco's Restuarants (Florentino's in Newtown) is the amazing consistency of perfectly cooked product. Both places offer a good selection of fish and meat, but while the appetizer selection is somewhat limited, this is only due to the fact that both places have very small kitchens. These two restuarants are about 10 miles apart, but there is simply no other places worth going to in my humble opinion. There are a fair amount of choices of course, but the all lack consistency, service, or quality.

Enjoyed a fabulous dinner, with great service. There were 4 of us, and 2 had Hawaiian Butterfish and 2 had Bronzini. Both were wonderful. The Bronzini came with risotto, and the butterfish was served over spinach. We have been to Florentino's several times and I highly recommend it.

We ate here as a walk in birthday celebration dinner on a busy Saturday night. The host was very accommodating and found us a table quickly. The service was great and the food was fabulous. This is a great local place with a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. We live in a town with few really good food options so this is a great option if u are looking to stay close but have a great meal. The location on the river is beautiful too. Would be great if there was a real outdoor seating option.

I have been here several times. Never memorable...always enjoyable. Their garlic bread is outstanding and I like their sauces but the entrees are not consistent. Tonight I challenged my server that my chicken had been microwaved. She denied and disappeared. She said they don't have a microwave...maybe yes, maybe no. It was just extremely hot in the center and tough. At any rate we did not see her again and John took over. On a plus, the host...John...is one of the best I've run into in Bucks. Please will a top quality restaurant hire him. He's worth another 20% in biz. This isn't the one!
