What a hidden gem! While at Westminster College for an event, I used Yelp! to find a close restaurant of quality. Thanks to other Yelpers, this restaurant came up highly rated, and it was only .3 miles down the road. This restaurant is known for their fish sandwich, so all four of us ordered it. Yum! Great batter, nice and flaky, and the sweet potato fries were just scrumptious. They're served with a side of cinnamon butter, too, so dieters, this may not be your go-to meal. Lol. The restaurant is quaint, but will still hold a decent amount of patrons, and the servers are friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be going back to this place!

Nice people and very good food. Their cod sandwich is truly special. A little slow but its a day trip town, why are you in a hurry? Enjoy... and have a piece of pie for dessert. ;)

Great meal. Good price. Good portion. Nice atmosphere. Timely service. No waiting. Friendly service. I have no complaints. Also a beautiful little town to see. I hope to go back some day. The weren't that busy when I went there. Which I like.

Had the opportunity to try several dishes at the Inn. They were fair to good, the fried cod being the best. One of the few places I have gone recently, that the salad that didn't come out of a bag, which is a plus. The service is a little slow, though.

We stopped in Volant on a beautiful Friday for lunch. It was out first day in town for a family reunion - I haven't been in the area for about 5 years. We saw the Neshannock on our walk up the hill and noticed tables outside where I was going to ask to sit. However when we walked inside it was quaint with a row of booths lining the room. There is a beam in the middle of the ceiling and on one side are wooden mile markers for all of the local towns. I really wanted to get a picture and there was an empty booth on the side facing. Here is where all turned south. Hostess "follow me" Me "could we sit on this side" H "is there a reason?" Me (kind of shocked) "because I asked?" H "It's the other girl's [server] turn and they get mad if I don't seat them" Me "ok that's fine" H "well do you have a good reason" Me "no it's fine seat us wherever" We are seated. Another couple comes in just as we sit down. They are taken to the booth I asked for. Their server comes and takes drink orders. No one has come to us yet. An older lady walks past us up to the hostess and starts chatting. The drinks come to the other table. No one to us yet. After another few min the server takes food orders from the other table. We still don't have drinks or even know who/where our sever is. The older lady that's chatting walks back toward our row and stops to check in with the booth next to us eating, then walks past us and then back to the hostess. At this point- I no longer want to stay. I get up to walk out and at the hostess station I inquire if there is an owner in. The older lady says "yes is there a problem" Me "are you the owner?" OL "no but I am a manager" Me "if the owner is here I would like to speak with them" OL "well I will go tell her but she doesn't like to come out to talk to anyone" SERIOUSLY?!?!? Out comes a girl in her 20ies who looks like she is a line cook - no offense intended here - she may be the owner but did not appear so in the slightest. I told her that we were from out of town and would not be back due to the service - that it started with asking if we could sit in a specific location at which point the Hostess interrupts and contradicts me!!!! I followed be highlighting that we had yet to be approached but the table that followed us in has ordered food. I told her I just wanted to voice this problem directly to the owner. Fast forward a week later - here is the message I received from the restaurant on Facebook! m.facebook.com/story.php… Yay!!!!!!!!........you are not welcome to come back. No manners, short temper, rude to our hostess, because you could not sit in a booth. Grow up!!!!!!!

If you're in Volant, a nice place to target on a mc ride, then it's worth stopping here for lunch. The food was tasty, and everyone seemed happy with their lunch. Service was very good. 3 stars only because I reserve 4+ ratings for places worth traveling to, rather than places worth going to only if you're in the neighborhood already. Sooo, if you're ever in Volant, this is the place to eat!

Absolutely amazing! At first sight it appeared a bit dark and dead inside, but we visited during a week day at lunch during the off season. The staff was extremely friendly and personable. They made us feel very welcome. There were six in our party, and we all ordered something different. We have a variety of picky eaters, health nuts, and old fashion home cookin' lovers; everyone was pleased with their food. The desserts were delicious as well. It's easy to see and taste ALL the meals are homemade, nothing tasted canned or pre-prepared. I would absolutely eat here again!!
