Bren's Family Restaurant (Formerly Bishop's) is a cozy little place on the roadside of 220 in Ulster, PA. Passed the sign a few times and decided to drop in and see what the place was about. Walked in, place looks clean, looking around and the first waitress looks at me and says nothing. After standing there listening to the staff talk to regulars for a couple minutes I'm finally directed to seat myself in the dining area. The decor is diner-ish, advertisement placemats and paper Valentine's decorations. My drink order is in and I'm waiting some more to give my dinner order. Meanwhile, the regulars continue their conversation. The food was reasonably good, if a little bland (my fault for ordering turkey and dressing). The price was reasonable as well. My big knock is the service, if you frequent the place you can walk in and hug the waitresses, if you're new, bring a marching band to get their attention and keep it.

I have been here twice now once for breakfast and once for Saturday dinner. Breakfast is good and cheap I got the buffet. Now for dinner I had the prime rib it was okay not the best I've ever had. The service for the Saturday night dinner was poor. I will go back for the breakfast not for the dinner.

Went with the family for dinner and ordered the Saturday special, prime rib dinner. Although the prime rib was a little more fatty than normal, it was still really good. Cooked to order and good flavor. The dinner also comes with the hot and cold bar, which had barbeque ribs and cold shrimp on it, along with the salads and other things. I especially liked the macaroni shell salad made with dill. The only thing I didn't really care for was the mac and cheese, which I'm fussy about anyway. It has to be cheesy! It was okay, but overcooked. Overall though, it was a really good meal. The rest of the family had shrimp and scallop dinners, which they said were really good. I can say, I will be back again, at least on a Saturday, for a dinner.
