Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

The food is excellent and the staff is very attentive. It gets very busy in there and probably could use a few more seating options for the busier nights but I love it there!

After being told how awesome this place is, I finally got to dine here. Greg and I were visiting a co worker and prior to going to there house we stopped for dinner. We called and made reservations for 2, as soon as we walked in we noticed that the place was mobbed! We were quickly seated in the loft section of the main dining room, our waiter was great, the constantly bring out bread and marinara sauce for you to eat. I had the hot Italian sandwich with a little bit of oil and no veggies, Greg has the cheese steak with sweet peppers, (large) he brought half of it home and I brought half of my sandwich home. The food was fantastic, we also shared mozz sticks. Everyone was so nice, and this place was affordable. The loft was a bit warm, but no complaints. Will return!

This is my favorite place back home. I've eaten here many times (upstairs, downstairs, large groups in the back, on a date in a booth, take out) and I've never once had a bad experience. The garlic knots are heavenly. So is the pizza. And the salads and the pasta. I have yet to try something off the menu that I am not impressed with. It's also a great friendly atmosphere. Alfie, the owner, is so great and always around to say hello. Sometimes there's an older gentleman playing the accordion as well. They are very, very accommodating and the prices can't be beat. I always recommend this place to people who haven't tried it.

I was told this place was amazing, but they were wrong. La Dolce Casa is very expensive for what you get. The staff is friendly, yes, but the food is not. The "rolls" are atrocious, basicly spongey sourdough. The pizza is very "saucy" (as in too much sauce), and their delivery service feels like you're on the receiving end of leftovers. On the plus side, when you eat in at their "restaurant", the pasta is acceptable. But then again, who can't get that right.

The food is very pricey for this town, but its still very good. Authentic Italian bread and recipes keep this place going.

Closest thing to a family restaurant in downtown Tamaqua. Most comfortable setting. Waitstaff is friendly and tolerant. Service is pretty quick. Pizza is better than adequate. Everything else on the menu has a more Italian taste and will satisfy.

I have loved this place back in the day when they were still DiMaggio's Pizza over on East Broad. The best pizza around, so good when I was in high school we had no problem waiting sometimes 2 hours for delivery on a friday night. The pizza and food is that good. They make all thier bread from scratch, well they used to back in the late 90's. I would say my favorite sandwich is the hot ham and cheese. Large amount of meat worth the value. I have eaten at this new location and had a wonderful experience, I was able to sit on the loft which provided a nice view of the resturaunt and the prep area.

I was in the Tamaqua area visiting my great aunt and I'm so glad we decided to give La Casa Dolce a try. I live in Baltimore and the food here can rival many of the restaurants in Little Italy. First the staff were incredibly friendly and the restaurant doesn't skimp on portions, refills etc. We started with a pitcher of Peroni beer that was literally filled to the brim. They bring 2 types of freshly made bread with a serving of house made marinara sauce that was delicious. Our entrees were served with house salads that included olives and hot peppers. Then the entrees came, and we realized we could have easily ordered 1 entree for the 3 of us to share. My aunt ordered the fresh veal parmigiana. I'm not a fan of veal in general, but the flavor of this dish was incredible. I find that parmigiana can be a little bland, but not this dish and the veal was perfectly cooked. My aunt asked for extra sauce for her pasta. No problem- our waitress brought her a whole soup bowl of the same marinara that was served with our bread. My mom got a chicken special (the name escapes me) that was 2 breasts of sautéed chicken served over penne with spinach and grape tomatoes in a white wine sauce. We were impressed by the nice fresh ingredients that were used in this dish, since this is the type of dish where you could just as easily be made with frozen spinach and canned tomatoes. Personally I think the dish could have used a little more seasoning, but again it was cooked to perfection and it was a great lighter pasta dish option. The winning dish of the night, however, was my Tuscan Lasagne. It was cooked rollatini style (as opposed to the casserole format). It was filled with a ground chicken and ricotta mixture that was to die for and the creamy vodka sauce was the best I've ever had. It tasted surprisingly light for a lasagne, and I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing in one sitting (the wait staff automatically bring boxes for leftovers to the table, the portions are so huge). To cap off the evening, our waitress brought us a sample of her favorite house made dessert- a chocolate mousse dessert that looked a little like a tiramisu. Even though we were stuffed, we found room for every last bite of it, it was so delicious. I'm so glad we decided to check this place out, Tamaqua will definitely become a regular stop when visiting my great aunt from now on.

La Dolce or Dimaggios is a must stop place to eat by all my family.... Especially when the kids are home from Penn State, NC and Wisconsin..... Our favorite meals are the Broiled Haddock, Veal Parm, Chicken Parm, Crab Cakes, Stromboli, cheesesteaks and the Romano and Hoggie Pizza. They start by serving bread knots with sauce.... Place your order, enjoy the family bonding and then your meal. On weekends they even have music. They have a beautiful banquet room in the back. One thing we like us their delivery to the rural areas of Lewistown Valley and New Ringgold. On most Friday nights it is where we spend time with Nana and Pop. If your in Tamaqua, tell Alfie we sent you!

The food is great and it's prepared very fast. Our waitress was very friendly and went out of her way to ask if they can change an item or 2 on the menu slightly and they did. The portions were enormous. My advise is order off the specials menu. As for appetizers our waitress suggested the corn bites. Which is sort of fried creamed corn with ranch dip. AMAZING. definitely recommend this place if your in driving through Tamaqua

The best southern Italian food in Tamaqua. We have been coming here since it opened. It is a regular stop for us when we come from Long Island, New York. We have had three parties in their catering hall in the back room and the staff was very helpful, attentive and the food wonderful. Alfie the owner, is friendly, keeps the staff on their toes and makes sure everything runs smoothly. He also makes surer diners are having a good time. The portions are tremendous and the menu varied. Their garlic bread, and soft Italian bread is always a big hit. Many people come in for pizza pies or slices.

I am a very picky Italian woman, whose father was a chef. My parents owned a wonderful restaurant in the area. Not only is this restaurant wonderful because of their delicious food, it is also a very friendly establishment. Alvie is great, and a kind-hearted man, as well. I suggest the pizza with the sweet sauce ( you can have regular sauce, too). His bread is awesome. Sandwiches are delicious. Pasta dishes are wonderful. The Vodka sauce is amazing! Try it, you'll love it!

I'm well aware of Dimaggio's reputation for bread. On that front they didn't disappoint, but too much of our meal was less than stellar. First, not having Sicilian by slice on the weekend: This sucks, plain and simple. I'm sure they have a good reason by their estimation. Whatever, I was bummed. I love Sicilian and wanted to try theirs. When they brought the pizza for the kids and the bread for my wife and I, I realized something quickly: the sauce had more sugar in it than a vat of Coca-Cola. Now, I'm Italian and we all know you sugar the sauce to cut acidity. But there's a limit to things. More sugar doesn't equal more flavor. It just gets to be too much! The calamari appetizer was overcooked! Compounding the issue was the "cocktail sauce" (a descriptor I use very loosely) that came in the little packaged container with the foil lid on it. Class move! The buffalo wings ordered by my wife were breaded, which she had specifically asked the server to inquire to the kitchen about this prior to ordering. It was also SLATHERED in some sort of thick buffalo sauce that, naturally, soaked into the breading and turned the wings into a soggy, mushy mess. Not cool. My wife and I both asked for the zinfandel vinaigrette for our salads. Gel-like, cloyingly sweet...an unwise choice. I ordered the La Dolce Casa Pasta Special, fettucini w/ butterfly tail-on shrimp which was done in a lemon / garlic / butter sauce with parm. The pasta was somewhat over al dente, but the flavor of the dish was pretty good overall. I've been hearing people rave about this food for years. I don't know if I just caught them on a bad day or what, but we were pretty disappointed. Maybe I'll give them another shot to impress me with their pizza during the week.

How did Jesus feed the multitudes with just 12 loaves and fishes? He probably got the loaves at Dulce Casa in Tamaqua, then performed a miracle by finding enough fish to go with it. I kid you not, their loaves of bread are a meal and a half! They are the epitome of sweetness. They stack them high with meats and cheeses, and choice of delicioustoppings. I have rarely experienced such a good meal as I had from here. My half a hoagie filled me up. Took one to go in foil and it held up great on my bus trip. Was very pleased.

So overrated I'm stupefied, but then again I'm use to Italian food in N.Y.C.

Good choice of ready made pizza during lunch time. Dinners are good and service is fast. Home made bread is good, but I prefer a harder crispier bread. I am there once a week, growing up in Brooklyn that is a compliment.
