Have been here twice now. Ate the Pittsburgh Haddock sandwich both times... which is basically a "garbage sandwich" as Pittsburgh natives would call it. It was so good the first time that we had to go back for it again... and will probably at some point make our way back there again. Good service, good prices, good diner.

I must give full disclosure that I have been coming to this place since I could fit ON the table-- literally-- in a baby carrier. Whenever I get back to Hometown, the visit starts and finishes with the Beacon. The Greek influence of the owners are apparent throughout the menu-- the Greek French Toast is a treat in the morning, the Spanikopita and Stuffed Grape Leaves are great appetizers. The Moussaka is homey and comforting, the Baklava is rich and decadent (I tend to stay away from that for the sake of my waistline though!). Breakfast is served all day. Amazing in and of itself and I have done breakfast for dinner on several occasions. Breakfast does admittedly have more of that diner feel to it, but they're big portions at great prices. I recommend getting the home fries deep fried with onion. Their Belgian waffles are savory and my dad is always a sucker for the pancakes that literally go to the edge of the plates. The waitresses are on point, have the right touch of sass, and know the menu well. During lunch-- you really can't go wrong with the burgers. They have a wide variety of club sandwiches and modernized their menu a few years back to include really fresh quesadillas (a wonderful pico de gallo really brightens/lightens a dish that is essentially cheese, meat, and a tortilla), wings, wraps, etc. Their salad bar has a fantastic Greek vinaigrette and one of the few places in the area that know what Garbanzo Beans are and why they should be on a salad bar! Also don't forget a few chunks of feta cheese!! Dinner-- Here's where the Beacon sold me and keeps me coming back. HANDS DOWN I recommend any of the broiled fish dishes. I'm big on the broiled Haddock, Trout, or Salmon. If they have the special of the Cajun Potato Crusted Salmon topped with Sauteed Peppers & Onions-- do yourself a favor and just put down the menu and order it. Sauteed spinach & garlic is a great side dish (just go light on the oil!). Pork Chops are a big portion, so be prepared to be a big eater or be ready for a take home container. I'm a huge fan of the Calamari Rings for an appetizer, and their Cajun Fries come with a zesty remoulade for dipping. Desserts-- They used to have this amazing Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake that was to die for. I don't see it as much. It was very dense and moist. I never order chocolate cake when I eat out, but when the Beacon has this cake-- I do. The rice pudding is also very good and they always have a wide assortment of pies. All in all, this is small town dining done well. Sundays after church are packed, so be prepared to get their early or wait.

Good food at a fair price - try the eggs benedict and home fries with onions!

Three words: Breakfast all day. Also, Dogzilla- 8oz beef hot dog, lettuce, tomato, chili, cheddar & pepper Jack cheese, Bacon and Mayo.

There was a change in management and/or chef that has this restaurant on a downward spiral. After going back 3 or 4 times because of past experience. It is clear that service has declined.

Good typical diner.

Great service! Good food! Horrible management!!! Went in during lunch on a Monday and the mgr had a hissy fit and closed up the restaurant stating we had to go and couldn't get our food. I'll never go back!!!

My son and I were looking for something mid-afternoon after a long drive. We stopped here for the first time. It wasn't busy, service was quick and friendly. We both ordered the Blazin Burger and Gravy a fries. What a home run! The burger was fantastic. It was cooked a perfect medium as requested, the meat was delicious even without the hot buffalo sauce and jalapeños. I liked the combo of sauce, peppers and cheese more than expected. The fries were perfect and the gravy, served on the side so as not to make soggy fries, was delicious. Add two drinks and it was only $21 before tip. Now I realize it's not a fine dining establishment, it's a diner but it was clean, everyone was pleasant, the food was good and priced reasonably. For a diner, five stars.

Dry. Everything we had was dry. We had wings. Tasteless and nothing juicy. They were obviously old. Fries with cheese and bacon were partially edible. Too much cheese sauce. Thanksgiving turkey sandwich. The dressing was vivid green. Turkey was dry. Roll was dry. Awful. Turkey club was dry and it had mayo. The bacon was not cooked through. Hopeless.

We waited for a long time to get our food... Not the worst thing, cus it is a diner. But we ordered a hot pepper omlet off the menu, expecting jalapeños or something. Nope, it was banana peppers, which was like mixing eggs with vinegar and then cooking them. Gross!

Incredibly slow service, very outdated interior and exterior. The hand soap in the bathroom smells weird. The locks in the bathroom stalls need to be replaced, and there is an overabundance of toilet paper in each stall. The salad bar has zero to no options, and the lettuce is wilted and brown. Also if you use ketchup, bring your own for the bottles are nearly empty. The food is decent and cheap but definitely not worth the wait. If you are from out of town and expect prompt service, I would avoid this particular establishment.

When in the area, I always try to come here for Sunday breakfast. Their hot cakes are of very good quality and the workers are friendly. I like being able to buy a coffee with refills for only $1.25, which is half what many restaurants charge. Although this is a popular spot, I have not had to wait long for a table. I did find it unusual that their salad bar is set up so early, because if I were to have dinner here, I wouldn't want to eat something that had been left out all day. I suspect they might refresh it as needed.

After having a disappointing afternoon at Pocono Whitewater Rafting, we were looking for somewhere to eat as we made our 3 hour drive back to MD. After reading the other reviews on Yelp, we decided to give this place a try. So glad we did. At first we weren't sure what to make of it, we arrived at 7:30pm on a Saturday and the parking lot was practically empty. The waitstaff was super friendly and gave us suggestions on what to try. I ended up going with one of their specials, the spicy shrimp po boy which was very good. I can't say enough good things about this place. The food was cheap but great quality and big portions. Will definitely come back here again if ever in the area.
