Had lunch at marita's today and had a wonderful time. I had a dirty Martini which was made perfect the olives were fresh not sitting around the taste was very good. All of the food we ordered was great I had the chicken flauta and my husband had steak fajita, the steak was done perfect everything was hot and fresh! The waitress was very nice and attentive we had a great time. The only thing I noticed was the red salsa didn't taste like it used to I think they added cumin and it kinda ruins it for me, I've been going there for many years and I preferred the old salsa. Never had a bad meal here.

This place has to be the worst of all U.S.! And I'm counting big chains like Taco Bell and Del Taco!! They're better than this place! Horrible food! Awful taste! Not Mexican at all!!! If I can give zero stars I would! Enchiladas should not have cheddar cheese and chile rellenos should not be deep fried!! Nothing good about this place.. I'm feeling sick just thinking about it. Give yourself a favor.. Skip this place and go to Taco Bell instead! Is definitely much better than this food!

TERRIBLE. Nothing tasted fresh, and honesty wasn't even half edible. Cheap drinks nothing else worth ordering. Taco Bell is better.

***stars are for the restaurant only, as is the case with many stroudsburg bars, this place is awful. Unless you enjoy sweaty, borderline alcohol-poisoned minors bumping against you and spilling their cheap bottom - shelf vodka cranberry all over you, avoid at all costs. Oh and the bit about minors? Yea me and half of my freshman dorm ended up there before we even hit 20, and that trend has only increased, so beware of jailbait ladies and fellas. As for the food, no complaints here. Every time my dad came up to visit me in college we ate here, he loved it. I enjoy the margaritas, the cheap tacos, and the chimichanga. I would give less stars, but my dad was such a fan and I have such fond memories of this place, especially as a drunk underage freshman ;)

This isn't Mexican...it's Mexican't! We walked in on a Sunday afternoon on sticky floors, sat at a sticky table, ate a few stale chips with what they called salsa. The red version was marinara sauce not salsa...and the green one was full of minced garlic and dry green tomato pieces. The bottled beer was fine...but after we drank them we left...never to return.

This place isn't too bad. Stay away from the fried and or frozen dishes and opt for the homemade items like the burrito or vegetable and meat skewers. For the most part the food is ok. No, Marita's this isn't an authentic Mexican Taqueria like you would find in lower Manhattan, but for the available options in Stroudsburg, you could do a lot worse. Just stick to the higher priced home cooked dishes, and don't order any type of chicken bites or breaded items, as these are all processed and frozen, and then cooked in a deep fryer. Not even real food. The beer selection here is atrocious. Miller Light and Yeungling Lager is as fancy as it gets at Marita's. I wouldn't bother drinking here unless your some ESU schlub with a fake id. Management or ownership definitely needs to improve the menu and cut out the Sysco pre-packaged high sodium processed garbage. Maybe hire a real chef and buy real real produce and meats, and get rid of the of the drunkard ESU crew that runs the joint. Marita's also needs to find a new beer distributor. I'm sorry but Sam Adams, Yuengling and Miller Lite aren't going to cut it in 2014. Even a throwback hole in the wall like Rudy's has a better beer selection than Marita's. Not much effort put into making this a better place in terms of food quality and variety by management and ownership. Which is kind of a shame considering their prime location. They just aren't in tune with the current state of this area's culinary palette, and who their actual consumer base is.

Here for lunch....just a so so. Not the best, not the worst. Friendly waitress is a plus but food is lacking creativity and flavor.

I really like Maritas. The bartenders and staff are always friendly. The prices are terrific. The tacos and and burritos are really really good ... and i love their coconut shrimp! Thurs-Sat DJ and dancing!
(4)S. S.
We went here because we saw many people walking in last Thursday night. They had a DJ and it was packed with people dancing. I must say I love to dance. Its was so much fun. The bartender nick knew what he was doing and was none stop busy pouring drinks but made it a point to get to everyone and we waited for a drink for maybe 2 minutes. If you have a little wallet this is the place to go. 50 cent beers??? really?! If you are single...this is the place to be the crowd was 60% ladies, girlys and women danced up and ready to dance. We had a blast i will be back this Thursday night for sure

FIrst time I went there, the food was flavorless and NOT FRESH. I came back another time, giving them the benefit of the doubt, and it was even worse. I even asked them if their salsa is made fresh on the premises, and the waitress said "yes". It came to to the table, and not only was it from a jar, but it was TERRIBLE. When I pointed out the problems to the waitress, she refused to make it right and was incredibly rude to us. I will never come back to this place again. Do yourself a favor and go eat at 'Holy Guacamole'. The food there is FRESH and tasty and the staff is friendly.

If you're looking for Mexican food and a beer go to Taco Bell and stop at the 6-pack shop on the way home. This place sucks! Nothing about the atmosphere was appropriate for a cantina. Decor is like a sports bar and 80's tunes rather than Spanish guitar or some other suitable music was playing. They have Sol (which we prefer over Corona) specials signs hanging in the entry so when asked for our drink order we request 2 Sols. The response? "Oh we don't have that beer here, we have Corona. I don't know why the still have those signs up." Coronas are ordered and several minutes later the server appears with 2 Corona Lights. When questioned about the incorrect beer, we are told they only have Corona Light. When our complimentary tortilla chips arrived, they were accompanied by the nastiest red "salsa" I have ever had. It had minimal flavor and resembled tomato paste. Next, we try and order shredded beef tacos. No shredded beef. When we get our ground beef tacos, all the veggies are fresh, but absolutely no spices whatsoever. No cilantro. No taco sauce. Oh, and the undisclosed price of the little cup of sour cream is a buck. Then to top it all off, the server would not leave us alone - probably sensing that her tip was already compromised. The only good thing about this meal was the green salsa. That earns the mandatory one star.

Absolutely disgusted. If you are looking for a nice enjoyable Mexican meal look elsewhere. my wife and I were patrons of the marita's location on route 940 that has been closed for a while, and were hoping to find the same experience at this location. well if you are looking for a loud obnoxious sports bar then you may fit right in with the adolescent college kids that hang out here. our waitress was very nice but that was the only good thing about the meal. the overall taste of everything on the plate was pasty and bland.

Some of my first memories were growing up and coming to eat here when I was little. I've been here hundreds of times. I've met girlfriends here, laughed here, eaten here, and even had my church youth group here. I will never go back again. Last time I was back some douchebag ESU meathead was working the door, where he wouldn't let my friend in because he HAD a hat. Not because he was wearing one, but because he was holding one. After making him walk back to the car, he wouldn't let me talk to the girls we were with (who were standing 2 feet past the podium) to see if we wanted to stay, b/c he was afraid I was going to skip out on the $5 cover. What an insult. You can take your $5, and all the future business, and shove it. In fact, if I ever come back in town, I will be finding you and telling you (once again) where you can put your $5. You're a Mexican bar. Not a dance club. You have $1 beer night. This isn't NYC. It's Stroudsburg PA. You're not exclusive. Stop acting like it. God, this place used to be awesome. So disappointing.

Average mexican food, sub par ingredients. The chicken was mealy, dry and unsatisfying. Beans were from a can, and the rice tasted like it was instant minute rice. Slow wait staff, took us about half an hour to get the bill after we finished eating.. But its a pleasant enough place to sit, recently updated dining area and bar. Overall, I'd say this is not a place to go for fans of real mexican food. You'll be disappointed.

Food: Average, Service: Inattentive Went for lunch. Dinner prices on lunch entreés was disappointing but would have been ok had the food been exceptional. Service was slow with a nearly empty place. Waitress focused more attention on patron at the bar. Jalapeño salsa served along with regular salsa and chips was a standout. By far the best part of the meal. Husband had fajitas and enjoyed them. I had chicken flauta served over cilantro rice. It was way overstuffed with cheese and not much chicken. Had to scrape off excess cheese. I only had half of it yet a full 10 hours later it was still sitting like a lump in my stomach. Won't be going back anytime soon. We seriously need a good Mexican place in the Poconos, but this isn't it.
(2)Stephanie E.
absolutely HORRIBLE!!!. the salsa tastes like thick tomato paste and water. the atmosphere is terrible. its full of noisy loud screaming boys hooting and hollering while drinking and getting drunk. they are so loud that I got a headache from it. the Mexican food taste like alpo dog food and the sauce is pasty and thick. the place looks like a dive and I would NEVER EVER GO BACK. I would never recommend this place even to my worst enemy. any good reviews must be from the workers or the hooped up guys. yuck. stay away if you want to have a pleasurable dinner. this is definitely not the place. this was my first and last time there. eeek.. horrible!!!!

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, you will not find it at Marita's. That being said, I still love this restaurant for one glorious reason: Sunday Funday. On the holy sabbath at Marita's, you can binge on $5 pitchers of beer, $1.50 tacos, and $0.30 wings. Marita's also offers hot dogs on their Sunday Funday menu, but who on EARTH orders hot dogs at a restaurant? The complimentary chips and salsa (2 kinds!) are crave-worthy. Aside from Sunday Funday, Marita's does offer some nice combo plates with very generous portions. It's a local treasure and college hangout.

I went on a Sunday. They have special like 30 cents wings, $1.50 Taco. Bad choice on the tacos. They have Ground Beef, Shredded Beff, and Chicken. I got both of the beefs, and they were terrible. They were bland and soggy. $1.50 you think that it could be at 1/4 of Taco Bell or something, nope. The wings, not bad, not great. They only have 5 flavors and weren't cover completely in sause. Some wings had no sauce, others drowning in it. The Honey BBQ, McHale, and BBQ all pretty much tasted the same. One thing I can say they have the BEST green salsa I have ever had. Lots of flavor and spice to it. I think I ate more of that on my tacos than the meat.

I was having coffee at Starbucks, and the staff and owner of Marita's was sitting next to me. They spent the entire time ranting about how they hated their customers! The staff was talking about how they had permission from the owner to ream out any customer they didn't like! They talked about many instances where they didn't like a customer, and how they "got even" with them. While this was going on, a couple left the starbucks speaking about how they would NEVER eat at Marita's after hearing what was said. I've worked in restaurants, and normally the policy is that all staff are to remain professional regardless of the customer's actions. Obviously that's not the case here. I would be afraid to eat there, after hearing the things that they said. Not only did they turn me off of their restaurant, but they were very unfair to the Starbucks having such a loud nasty conversation there.

I've eaten here twice and the food is awful. To begin, they refill the Cholula hot sauce bottles with something else that is the color of red kool aid. The taco salad is so salty that it is largely inedible. The salsa is bland. I don't know how they did it, but the jalapenos are bland. Greasy and salty and bland. Waitress was nice and attentive and the place is clean, there's your two stars. In a town with this many people from Mexico and South America, please hire some to run your kitchen. This chain died off back in the 90's when they were outclassed by authentic Mexican restaurants back in central PA, where they were headquartered, I believe. There's still time!

Great for casual meal and drinks. Love the ships and fresh made salsa. Food is good, basic. Would welcome more inspired options. But the beer is cold, and this is important to my husband.
(4)Nicholas C.
Id avoid this place. Came for lunch and the food was more expensive than taco bell and twice as terrible. Came one night as a designated driver and they charged me for water and told me to call the cops if I disagreed. with many places nearby I would highly recommend not going here.

I've been eating at Marita's for many years, and have noticed a decline it the atmosphere, the food, and the patrons. Marita's is more a sports bar which happens to serve Mexican named food, but it hardly earns the title "Mexican Restaurant." The food from the chips and salsa, through desert are all just mediocre at best. I'm not sure what happened to the place over the years, but since they reopened after the remodel, it's just not the same.
(2)Scott B.
This is a respectable, but not great Mexican eatery. Atmosphere is a bit weak...seems more like a sports bar than anything. The chips seemed fresh made, which is a big bonus in my book. Salsa was alright. Had a chicken burrito which was decent...neither the best nor the worst I've ever had. The burrito was served ala carte, with no side dishes (which was slightly unexpected...perhaps the menu stated that, not sure). The service was good, but by no means stellar.

After being so disapointed at the Blue Tequila I HAD to check out the new Marita's Cantina. I hadn't been to Marita's since they moved into a new building after having the old Marita's burn to the ground several years ago. We hit the door in the early afternoon, too late for the lunch crowd and too early for the dinner rush so we had the place almost to ourselves. They were smart enough to seat each party far enough away from other diners so each party that was there had semi privacy. The Chips were fresh and crunchy, the salsa was served with a seperate dish of chopped Jalapeno which could be added by the diner to the salsa to give it a little heat. (Still can't find a Mex Rest. in this area that seems to know what green chilis are) We both had the combo plate which gave us a choice of 1,2,or 3 from a Burrito, Enchalada, or Chille Rellenos. We both went for the 2 item combo. I had a Burrito and an Enchalada. My mistake was ordering both chicken so the taste of each was too close, although they both were tasty. My only complaint was that there was, believe it or not too much chicken. They were stuffed with large chunks which made them a little dry. However it was only a minor complaint. The bill total was $42 for two but we both had Tequilas which were large and tart and tasty but a little weak for such a large glassful. All in all not bad but not great. We will go back again.

Food was ok, had appearence of a college bar. Bathroom(men's) smelled of urine.
(3)Erica T.
I'm a local and I think Maritas is getting a bad rep. I've been going here for years mostly for happy hour but just went back yesterday for lunch & my friend and i really enjoyed both the service and our meals. As far as Americanized Mexican options in Stroudsburg there aren't really besides Maritas and I like it here! Best for wings, Margaritas, and anything with their shredded beef. Bottom line try it! Decide for yourself!
(4)Natalie B.
I wouldn't even give this place a star. The food isn't mediocre, it's just terrible! I make better Mexican food in my sleep. No flavor and every sauce just tastes like they opened a can of tomato sauce and poured it over everything. Don't waste your money.
(1)Shannon H.
Marita's used to be great. I grew up going to lunch or dinner here every couple of months. It was never the best Mexican or even the best Tex Mex, but it was always delicious. That was before the fire. I've been back a few times since they rebuilt. It's gone significantly downhill. The restaurant itself has zero personality. The service is terrible and the food it mediocre at best. I would go almost anywhere else in Stroudsburg if you're in town for a day.
(2)Raleigh T.
Not real Mexican food at all. The fajitas did not have fajita spice. Plus, there was hardly any green peppers and onions--just meat and tortilla, which was soggy.
