Typical old fashion burger place. It's not good for you. For me, the Food makes me feel sick after Eating sometimes. Not my favorite place to get a burger. Onion rings are great. Shakes are good too.

I liked this place. For those who don;t know it, it's a burger joint like 5 guys. Everything is order separately. I think the prices are little high for a a hog dog but i think this is the trend. I did really like the food we got 1 cheese dog, 1 regular dog,a double cheese burger, homemade chips and 2 sodas for about 20 bucks. . It was good and i didn't get sick like i do after i eat at 5 guys. I would go there again. The owner/ manger? also offered me a sample of chilli in case i wanted to try it next time on my dog. I would go again.

The food is good. The huge TV is awesome but that's the best I can say about this place. I've been there three times and I've given up completely. Every single time, they've messed up my order as well as whoever else I'm with. Three straight times.. Is that even possible? I get simple stuff too. Just cheeseburgers and fries everytime. So why do I end up with burgers with no cheese and bacon? Why is there cheese on my fries and why does it look like they were microwaved? It doesn't make any sense.

Good burgers...just good. No way are these better than 5 guys. I didn't even like the chips (BBQ), they were dissappointing. They were also very slow.

Been here twice. Thought $8 for a single patty burger, fries, and a cup of water was a little expensive. The burger and fries tasted great. Good quality food on both visits. Didn't have any problems with customer service. They brought out food to my table and accommodated my requests. Won't go out of my way to come back here, but would definitely grab a bite here if convenient.

I really like the milk shakes, but my waistline does not agree. This is a good place to go for tasty burgers, great shakes and nice fries. I have never had a bad burger here, never had a bad anything for that matter. I go, I pay, and yes it is usually more than I wanted to spend, but I don't care, I am usually there with my kid, so it is the experience. I like the ambiance here better than five guys, but each chain has it's features, advantages, and benefits. If you like free peanuts go to Five Guys, if you like a slightly warmer atmosphere, and people who will actually bring you your burger when it is done, go to Jakes. This is a 4 all day long.

Just to set the record straight, we did not have any shakes made with crickets. We did have a nice burger. Nothing exciting but it tasted like beef and was made to order so three stars for that. Fries were greasy and the employees were sitting outside smoking when we pulled in. Not the best first impression.

Great customer service at this one, the girl was courteous and kind and even delivered our food to us when it was ready. I like their fries better than Five Guys, but 5 Guys has them beat on the flavor. They do offer milkshakes which is also different. Seriously though you can't beat Charlies and its right down the street. This stop was all about convenience and location. I will never turn down a burger either!

Burger was good, milk shakes where sub standard.

No Sir, I don't like it. I've had McDonald's burgers tastier than that at half the price. They messed up all of my co-worker's orders. This was the first and last time for me. Sorry not sorry.

The first time I went to Jake's it was great! I would have given it 4 Stars. Last night though? It was cloudy and not a star to be seen. I haven't been there in a few months and things changed, especially the price. Did I really just pay $12 for a burger, fries and soda? Yup. Of course I accepted this and paid. I thought about it while waiting and it was a lot, but I was just going to eat and probably not go back. Just as I finished my burger and started in on the fries, I watched the manager, MANAGER... while wearing food service gloves, rub his hand on his shirt and apron a few times, lean against the dirty counter to talk to friends, shove his hand into what looked like the onions and 'played' with them a bit, adjusted his filthy hat, then touched all over a burger someone ordered to place it on the tray. Yeah, no thanks guys. If I want to eat that dirt and those germs, I'll just use my cat bowl here at home. It'd be cheaper and I wouldn't need to leave the house. Prometheus will be happy because I can use that $12 to get him more cat food. Though, it was a better burger than some other places I've been. The insane cost and extremely unsanitary habits of the staff will forever keep me from going back. Oh, by the way, if you don't really care about Hockey or Baseball, don't bother going during a game. They jack up the volume so the doofus manager can hear it... annoying

Fantastic burgers served here. they are big and WAY better than 5 guys! plus the have shakes! place is very clean and well lit with flat screen televisions. nice decor! the prices aren't the cheapest but the food is worth the expense!

I'm going to stick with the trend on this one. I think it's an ok burger spot with just ok food. It's true, Five Guys is right down the road and I think they offer a slightly superior product. My burger from wayback was ok, nothing special. i was happy that the patty fit on the bun and it wasn't doused in grease. I went with the junior burger, cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, pickles. It didn't have a grilled burger type taste. I'm not sure about how they prepare their patties but I wasn't wowed. The fries were also just ok. They give you a ton of them and that's nice but their texture/flavor doesn't really stack up for the price. Their homemade chips however are very tasty. One of my co-workers got the milkshake. I tried a little bit of it and it was pretty rockin. I stay away from those kinds of things but it did taste very decadent. Anyhoo, not a wasted meal by any means but I don't see a reason to come running back here. If we're all ordering again, I'll go in on it. I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't wowed either.

Eat.... eat.........Are you eating yet? No seriously, this place is good, the burgers are fresh, but more importantly they have that good smoky flavor that is so rare to find. So you know you're eating a burger still. Plus there is milk shake and sports on the big flat screens!!! I mean if there was beer, I'd set up camp and bring extra clothing.

It's not bad, which in the long run really won't cut it in this area, not with the competition nearby. You can't have Five Guys just blocks away from you and put out a half-hearted effort. I could mention that we ordered online, and through that process they managed to get some of the condiments wrong on my wife's burger. Maybe we can chalk that up to inexperience in the beginning. But I have to think it's hard to mix up an order when it is printed out in black and white in front of you. The wife reported that she liked her burger despite the condiment mixup. She felt it was not as greasy as Five Guys. This may be both a blessing and a curse. I went for a turkey burger. It ranks among the "not bad" realm. It needs a lot more to be great. As far as sides go, surprisingly the hand made chips were better than the fries. Again, the fries are simply "not bad". They're also not great. The chips, however, are worth a second trip. The side salads were a little on the bitter and soggy side. I might give it a second shot, but just for a burger and some chips.

Eh. Basically my reaction. I was excited to try this place for the first time. However, I wish that we would have just gone to Five Guys. We ordered fries to split, which were pretty good. The ratio of cheese to fries was pretty off. I love Cheez-Wiz more than most, but it was too much cheese for so little fries. As much as I like Five Guys, I wish that cheese was an option for fries, but honestly, their fries don't really need it. That's a different review. Onto the burger. We both ordered the special burger that was 2 patties with Cheez-Wiz and a buttered bun. The buns were upside down, which made it hard to eat. I ordered mine with grilled onions and green peppers, which I assumed would be fresh, peppers. No, they were not and they were from a jar, and did not taste good at all. The burgers were on the large side, but they were so greasy, that it was not the delicious experience I would have wanted. I'm not sure if the reviewers that really liked this place have been anywhere else. I will probably not return to this place, and will just go to Five Guys if I want a hamburger when I'm on Baltimore Pike.

The bad news...the burger I ate tasted like I ate cotton and stale peanut butter. The good news...Five Guys is not too far down the street! My wife wanted to try somewhere "new", so we went here. The fries were actually good. But, the burger was bland, and plain old not good. My taste buds disliked it, and my stomach and internal digestion system couldn't get rid of it fast enough, I nearly ran a few stop lights to make it to my bathroom. Now that I think back, it kinda tasted undercooked, but I kept looking at the burger and it looked thoroughly cooked. So, that may just be a testament to their nasty meat. My wife also had a chicken burger which looked like they pulled it out of a bag of "Processed Chicken Product" from a supermarket. And they even messed up my son's order. And it took a pretty long time to cook him a new burger...which is weird considering there were about 8 people working, and only 3 or 4 tables being used. ...but the fries were good. Like I said, save your money and get a juicy Five Guys Burger!!!

Definitely way better than most of these reviews make it seem. Deserving of more than a measly 3 stars, that's for sure. A better burger than Five Guys, in my opinion. That said, it's different... just not as big, greasy and overly heavy as Five Guys... a plus in my book. They are freshly made, and you can get a double without feeling like you need 911 on speed dial. Pricewise, it's comparable, maybe a little cheaper, but right in line with what you'd expect - feels like a decent value. Service was fast and Delco friendly... what I'd expect from any comparable burger place. The place was clean and nice and had a huge TV on the wall with the Phillies on, so there's a bonus. The ability to order ahead online is a plus, which I didn't utilize, but will try in the future. If only they would deliver...

Way too overpriced, and the food was not good. Service was not horrible, but very slow to only be getting french fries. We bought one hot dog, two drinks and two orders of fries and it ended up being like $23!!! Way to much for generic food. I will not be going back unfortunately, and I really wanted to support this local biz.

The Springfield location of Jake's Wayback Burgers recently opened and we took advantage of a coupon we got in the mail to try it out. How it measured up on our first visit: BURGERS: Really good. Neater/less messy than Five Guys. They reminded me a little more of Zac's or similar. Nice selection of toppings although of course nothing is really going to compare to Five Guys in that arena, at least not when it comes to FREE toppings. All in all, I thought the burgers were equally as good or better than Five Guys, but the husband still prefers Five Guys. SIDE ITEMS: Fries and onion rings were good but not really outstanding. Homemade chips were the best side we tried. Chocolate malt was delicious. Ultimately, Five Guys fries win, but the shakes/malts are a credit to Jake's. PRICE: Comparable to Five Guys. Perhaps slightly cheaper. SERVICE: Everyone was really friendly but I think this location, being so new, is still working out the kinks. They seemed a little confused while preparing the food (we watched them switch things around in the baskets under the heat lamps quite a few times) and everything just seemed to be happening really slowly. Certainly that will improve as everyone gets more experienced though.

Other reviews for jakes just are not fair. The burgers are juicy and delicious. The fries are very good, and the shakes are the best part of the meal. Also, the service couldn't have been more friendly. Once you order, they bring you your order instead of you hearing names being called during your entire meal

So I bought the groupon here for 7 bucks for 14 dollars worth of food which is a great deal. The place was clean, all the chairs were pushed in and everything. The place was empty and I mean empty and it was 530 on a Wednesday... I told them everything I wanted on my burgers and they forgot to put the mushrooms after I saw the receipt. I told them right away and the kid at the register must have been new and didn't know anything about the register. Which is okay bc I know I worked registers before and I'll cut him some slack. So he called over someone else and I told them straight out. "I don't mind paying for the mushrooms. What is it like a dollar..." We'll they couldn't just charge me for mushrooms without a burger which I find very unbelievable. And I know at the pizza place I worked out. I would have said sry" I forgot to add your mushrooms. Don't worry about it. Ill take care of you and not charged you." Not this place. They wouldn't give them to me no matter what which ticked me off. I told them mushrooms and the kid at the register never denied it to. It was their mistake so their customer service sucks but the food was great. So that's why they get 3 stars and why they didn't get a tip from me either.
