Great local tavern. Good burgers, and wings. Great happy our free apps. All you can eat crab night is a favorite. The outdoor deck bar is our favorite. Live music. Heaters in the cooler evenings in the fall. Joe the owner is a gracious host. Not a fancy place but good food and a welcome atmosphere.

Went for the first eagles game of the season and sat out back. Had to sit at our table for a while before we decided to just go get a drink at the bar since there wasn't a waitress . Got our drinks and then sat back down and saw the waitress. Ordered the wings and waited until almost halftime for them. They were pretty good. Yet again didn't see the waitress for at least 20 minutes finally went up to the bar to ask for our check an found out there was a wing special that no one told us about so we paid full price. Never will return.

We were in town for a wedding and stopped here for a late night snack and beer to unwind. The patio was fabulous and we had funny, sociable bartenders who were very attentive to all of their customers. We split a burger and fries and both were great. We're looking forward to stopping by the next time were in town with family!

First time back in quite a few years. The General has gone way down hill!!! We went on a Friday night at about seven and it wasn't really busy. The place was really dirty!! The waitress's didn't seem to care if we ate there or not. Once we were seated we had to ask to get the table cleaned. They handed us menus, which were also dirty and sticky. I was with a party of three. It took over two hours to eat... Super Slow Service. This place use to be great for beer, burgers, and wings. I don't know what happened but it is gross in the General Davis and the waitress's don't seem to have any care. I gave two stars because the wings were palatable and the bottles beer was cold. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

I recently moved right down the street an this place is typically awesome. Food is really good and they have specials every day of the week. Their outside patio is a great place to be on a good night. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is that they need to cut people off sooner. I definitely recommend checking this place out. But keep in mind as the night rolls on there will be many drunk people.

I love The General's setting and ambience. 5* Food was edible, beer was cheap 4* I'll be back to re-evaluate, but for now, its my favorite local sports bar.

You can't really beat free all you can eat wings. Sure they may not be the best wings but for the price they were pretty dang good. They also run really cheap beer specials as well. If you can put up with the Monday night football this is definitely worth it. The place inside is not he biggest and with large crowds it can be difficult to navigate past the bar area but here is a lot of seating and all the seats have views of the one more of the flat screens. So this place is definitely good for groups of people wanting to watch the game and score some free grub. They have an outdoor deck and even have it open in the winter with large heaters out to keep you from freezing to death.

Great place! The clientele is friendly and the bartenders are great. They have karaoke every Thurs night and it's a lot of fun as well.

I had a bad experience on a Thursday night a few weeks ago, hoping to catch some karaoke there. (Karaoke wasn't bad, but the singer's kinda tucked away) I ordered what was called The General Davis Burger, cooked medium, which was supposed to include "layers of provolone and pepperoni" which sounded awesome. I received my quite rare burger (parts of the center were colder than room temperature), with a few pieces of provolone on in. When I questioned the waitress about the missing pepperoni, she brought it to the cook who was standing just a few feet behind us. He said "It's in there." and she relayed the message to me as if she believed it. There surely were no layers of pepperoni... and when I thought "maybe it was ground in with the beef, I did my best to taste around for any bits of pepperoni but found none. It was just a bold-faced lie. So the burger wasn't garnished right, it wasn't cooked right, and the fries were obviously microwaved. My guest that night also got a burger and fries, both of which looked and tasted microwaved as well. Sorry, GDH. I hear you've got some good buffalo wings, but unless I'm feeling hard-up for some karaoke on Thursdays, I won't be coming back to try them.

In the famous words one animated anthropomorphic fat orange feline: " Mondays suck" But all things suck a little less with spicy poultry and ale. Better yet, Uber-Cheap ale ($1.25 Miller lite - not that i drink the stuff, snob that I am) and FREE, thats right, you heard me, FREE chicken wings. I think Zanna H. downplays the caliber of these wings a bit. That is to say, the wings are slightly above average in quality to the run of the mill fair you'll find in bars. (note I say Bars, not Gastro-pubs, we are not talking Monks here) They're both meaty and crisp from being freshly deep fried while remaining not overwhelmingly hot for those few who yearn for hot wings but want to retain their taste-buds. This wings deal is Monday only, so expect a football crowd. But, if your out with the boys and are broke, hungry, and wanna watch a game this is the place to watch it; Fair warning though - their TVs are not top-of-the-line. Go get you1080p fix elsewhere, if that's your deal. Here are just few LCDs and tubes, all of which run at 480i max. Just remember don't be an ass, tip the girl that comes around and cleans tables and bartender. P.S. They have Guinness and Blue Moon on tap.

Food is ok. Nothing to write home about. Summer time eating on the deck is a fun time. Some times they have a free buffet but i never tried it. I'm giving it 4 stars only as a place to have a drink at for food i'd only give it 3 stars. I mostly stop there for a beer after work or to watch a game on the deck tv's. Staff is always nice and friendly

Stopped at the General Davis House for lunch as my friend had a "buy one get one" coupon. I read the other Yelp reviews so I was looking forward to lunch. Even though it was really a bar (with a dining room) I expected good food. My friend had a spinach salad which did look very fresh. I had a grilled chicken ceasar wrap with a side ($1.75) of cole slaw. MISTAKE! The cole slaw is the kind that comes from a twenty gallon bucket and it was not very fresh. The wrap was ok - some of the chicken was grilled nicely while other pieces had the taste and texture of canned chicken. There was no unsweetened iced tea so we opted for the Ginseng and that was good, but when we got refills, the ice that had been in our glasses had been tossed and the tea we were given was not chilled much. The General Davis House looks like a great place to go after work to hang at the bar with or without friends. But lunch? Nah . . .
(2)Jon L.
If you're out in the Northeast section of the city (just outside, actually), General Davis House is THE best deal for a Monday night guy's night out. It's all-you-eat free wings & Yuengling drafts for a buck (it might be $1.50, but I think it's $1 flat). The wings are served buffet style, and the kitchen refills the tray regularly. These are GOOD wings that I would pay for at a restaurant. Above all, the GDH is a cool bar with a great, casual vibe. The TVs are decent, and the tables are set up well to catch a game.

the outdoor deck is the place to be on any afternoon. the food is more than you can handle and the price is right. the help is attentive and friendly and there is plenty of seating. best outdoor seating in the northeast.
