Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
We recently visited Applebees location in Warminster, PA to celebrate my wife's birthday. With my daughter being allergic to seafood and nuts I made a phone call in advance of the visit to ensure that she can be accommodated. I was told on the phone that Applebees can accommodate my daughter and cook the meal using separate cookware. Also, the Applebees website claims that people with allergies can eat there safely and even has allergen-free menu. However, when we told our server at the restaurant about the allergies she called up a Manager and he said that the restaurant cannot guarantee the food to be free of allergens because the seafood is cooked in the same cookware as all other foods. The Manager did absolutely the right thing being upfront about this. However, our night was ruined because we could not take a chance with our daughter. if Applebees really wants to be a friendly restaurant for people with food allergies they should: 1. Have a separate cookware that does not mix seafood with other food 2. Improve communications with the Customers on the phone and on the website

A sentimental favorite because the Mister used to come here with his daughter. Once a month, we return to honor her memory and toast her life. Is the food exquisite or even memorable? Not really, but we make do by using the following guidelines: Order the 2 for 20 deal (app plus 2 entrees). For the app, the Mister likes the spinach artichoke dip and chips. For entrees, we try to stick with the chicken dishes. Lately, I have ordered the tequila chicken, sans sauce, cheese, rice and chips. Applebee's has been very happy to substitute mixed veggies for the deletions, so I end up with a healthful dinner of a grilled chicken breast with (fat-free) pico de gallo and steamed veggies. Additionally, the Weight Watcher's selections tend to be among the better choices. Good, prompt service, too.

Was here once a few months ago with my bf. We were having a really fun time at the bar talking, watching the game & relaxing. But then, we noticed that the manager starts whispering to the bartender. And then she (bartender) starts asking everyone if they want anything else & starts pushing checks. She said to the patron next to me "sorry but I have to give these out." A few minutes later, I hear the manager talking about how he wants to start moving people out so there's enough room at the bar when the "firehouse crowd comes in." Seriously no disrespect to those who save lives, but really? You're gonna try to force paying customers out? Will never go back.

This place can not handle large crowds. We have tried to use this place more than a few times, the servers get overwhelmed and start lashing out at their customers with rude comments. Pass by and find another place.

Your pretty standard chain here, nothing too extreme either way about it. So just a few random notes about this specific location of Applebee's. There is no drink purchase necessary to get the half off appetizers at this location. I've been to other locations of Applebee's where they force you to order a drink in order to get the half off appetizers. This falls into the plus category for me. They have these devices on table where you can place your order. You just click on the options you want and such, and then it goes off to the kitchen and your server comes out with the food. Now we came on a pretty dead evening, so our waiter still came over and checked on us a lot, so we never got to see how this came into play during a busy night. But still, it's a cool feature and nice to see Applebee's is experimenting with marrying technology with service. Personally, at Applebee's I'd stick with the appetizers and basic American dishes, the further away you stray from this (pastas, seafood, steaks), the more likely you are to walk away disappointed with your meal. Service here has been mostly positive, but hiccups now and then. By far and away the best deal here in my opinion is half priced appetizers for late night. Food (B-), Pricing (D+), Atmosphere (B-), Service (B)

Ugh. This was mediocre at best. From the service to the food, I will not return. I went there with my mom and six year old for lunch. The server was friendly but did not hear me several times. She was unfamiliar with the menu. I ordered the chicken mushroom thing with new potatoes. When the dish came out it was appalling. The potatoes were fried to a crisp, not fit to eat. AND covered or caked in salt. When they brought new ones, still fried like big home fries. This on a diet entree claiming under 550 calories. Gross. Rest of the meal ok. My mom's quesadilla had little filling, very old Pico de gallo. Disappointing. My husband and I used to frequent this place regularly years ago. A lot has changed.

Went to this location last night for date. We ordered drinks, a honey bbq chicken breast sandwich for myself and a chicken-based salad for her. Afterwards, we split a brownie with ice cream dessert and washed it down with hot tea for each of us. In general, we had a pleasant time conversing and the food itself was alright. The time spent with my date is what prompted me to give this place three stars instead of two.

The apples are not falling from the tree and re-growing everywhere. Let's face it, they came about, after T.G.I. Friday's and we all for a short time enjoyed the change, but did we really? Now with so many chains, I am frankly tired of them all! They all offer similar menu's and young kids needing a place to work, even on the grill line. Simple food and easy to fix. I was never big on Applebee's.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Now with so many chains, I am frankly tired of them all! They all offer similar menu's and young kids needing a place to work, even on the grill line. Simple food and easy to fix. I was never big on Applebee's.
