Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Fire and Ice has been my best dining experience in the area. The restaurant was a bit tucked away, and our GPS was clueless. But once we found it we sat outside on the patio (between garden and parking lot) on a lovely summer's evening. Our server was friendly and efficient. Serving both Hummas and honey butter with the bread as an option was a nice start- I don't do dairy and this was a good solution. The stuffed shrimp was wonderful- that sweet sauce really made it interesting, and there were giant chunks of lobster claw meat on the plate. The salad with cranberries was nice- the greens were crispy and fresh, and the orange cognac dressing was delicious (warning- does contain egg, and the server didn't seem to know much about the ingredients in the food. I only mention this because the menu specifically indicates that they are prepared to meet diner's dietary needs). We split the Crab/lobster cake and the salmon entrees. My friend preferred the crab cake which was served with rice and chef's vegetables. I though the vegetables ere overcooked and the rice bland, but she can eat dairy, so everything probably improved with the aioli which comes with the dish. I thought the almond crusted salmon with quinoa, arugula and fresh raspberries was really delicious - perfectly cooked, great flavors, fresh and light. Will definitely visit again.

We used Fire and Ice for our rehearsal dinner and to cater our wedding- and kudos to Sandy and Chef Gary! Coming from NYC, I was a bit nervous since I didn't know any place in the area, but once we signed on with Fire and Ice we had nothing to worry about. All of our guests couldn't stop talking about how good the food was (especially the Mac and cheese)- which doesn't surprise me as we have never had a bad meal at Fire and Ice. Sandy did an amazing job coordinating not just her side, but helping me plan out the wedding as well. Her expertise and knowledge made the day of the wedding (and days leading up to it) stress free. Also, her staff did a great job making sure they always stopped by to see how I was doing and if I wanted more appetizers (which obviously I did). If you are getting married in the area, I highly recommend catering from Fire and Ice! We can't wait to come back!

We ended up at Fire & Ice not necessarily out of a desire to dine there but instead because we needed to hold an after-funeral luncheon. We live in Seattle and were planning a relative's funeral in Kingston. Not having been in the area or dined at local restaurants in a number of years, we really weren't familiar with what was good or bad any longer. Some friends recommended Kevin's in Kingston, but they weren't able to accommodate us for the time frame we needed. However, the person with whom we spoke at Kevin's recommended that we call Fire & Ice, as it is also good. So, we did. And we're happy that we did. The gentleman with whom we spoke couldn't have been nicer in working with us to plan a menu that worked. They actually have a funeral luncheon menu on their web site with notably lower costs than their standard menu, as they are not in the funeral luncheon business to necessarily make a profit as much as they are to help grieving families. We worked with them to upscale the menu a bit - adding a few dollars per person to each meal, but the price was still, in our opinion, very reasonable. And, the food? It was great. We provided three options to our guests: steak tips, a breaded chicken dish (sorry, don't recall the name) and salad nicoise. Each was great, and the soup, salad and dessert were also very good. They accommodated our party of 21 in the back room, but if more had shown up - because you really don't know the party size when planning one of these events - they would have been able to quickly expand us out into the small adjoining room. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience dealing with Fire & Ice and holding our lunch there. We can highly recommend the restaurant and the experience.

Food was good, not great, though the pilaf was mushy and tasted like a box kit. Service was good and price reasonable. I like the old piano bar set up a little better. I'd go again but wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I've ate at a lot of restaurants in the area and fire and ice has the best food. Went there with the extended family for dinner and after tasting a little bit of everything, I can't wait to go there again. Food portions were above average and the environment is excellent! Highly recommend the calamari

Really terrible experience. Several times steaks have come out raw when asked for med rare. Waiter and manager assert they temp their steaks differently. Complained and received a $25 gift card, but won't be back. Both waiter and manager tried to make me feel like I have no clue how steak temps work. Have never had an issue like this at other "fine dining" establishments.

We usually only go to Fire and Ice for "special" occasions. Their Mother's Day buffet is quite good, but the place is PACKED and it is hard to move around. We've been there once for a regular dinner and found the items to be great. The salad was wonderful, it had some kind of cranberry dressing on it.

It's a little higher end than most restaurants, but it still has a semi-casual environment and the food isn't too overpriced. They also have a twilight menu if you're on a budget. The atmosphere is really well planned, and the food is great. It's a great date night location.

I love this place. I've never had a bad experience here. The servers are always very attentive. Occasionally there seems to be a shortage of servers, which can be a pain. The food is always very good. The pizzas are delicious and the appetizers are also great. It's nice that they give you nicely baked bread with hummus, oil, etc. while you're waiting for you food. Everything always seems to be fresh. The size of the desserts are perfect. Just a little something to end your meal with. On Tuesdays they offer half price bottles of wine!

'Fire & Ice' is a nice breath of fresh Back Mountain air amidst the stench of all the chain "restaurants" that have infiltrated the Valley. Every time I come home for a weekend visit, my family already knows that we're going here for dinner one night. We have our self-proclaimed table, the U-shaped booth in the bar area that is situated within the bay window. The ambiance of this place is really nice - quiet, dimly lit and pleasant service. We always start with cocktails to go along with their amazing bread, butter and hummus. Their appetizer dips are always good, as well as their salads. A favorite entree of mine, surprisingly, is their burger. It's always cooked perfectly with a beautiful bun - and the fries are good, too. They serve petite deserts, which are just perfect after going through the drinks, appetizers and entrees. Overall, this place is just a family-favorite so I don't really have anything bad to say about it. I wouldn't really recommend it for kids, since their menu is pretty adult-oriented. Plus, screaming babies and unruly children are never good when you're trying to have a nice dinner and some laughs with other people (yea, I said it). They can accommodate groups, and have a decent size bar which no one ever seems to sit at, so that's another option. I've seen people on dates here, but mostly 50-something divorcees trying to have an intimate meal. Cute, sort of. All in all, definitely give it a try if you're with a few friends and want an off-the-path place to enjoy a good meal that's actually cooked - and not from a chain restaurant mega microwave.
(5)Carrie S.
Love it. Everything is always fantastic. If you go for their early bird/twilight specials the price is cheaper than going to a chain restaurant! Such great EVERYTHING!
(5)David L.
What a nice dinner! We had no reservation on a busy Saturday night and were well taken care of by the Hostess'. Service was terrific with alot of hands on deck (well staffed). The menu is large with a variety of specials too. We tried the Chicken Pot Pie and the Lobster Mac & Cheese, both were good. A little loud in the main dining room during a busy dinner rush but overall a nice meal. We will be back!

How does this place stay in business?Been there 4 times and the food was good once. Service was atrocious . Even with a reservation we waited half hour for table and another half hour for anyone to acknowledge us.Manager had plenty of excuses.Seemed like everybody was waiting for service.Well, they(Fire&Ice)can stop waiting for us,we won't be back. Oh, the food was sucky ,too!
(1)Robyn W.
Excellent! We go there just for the soups. The french onion chicken was very delicious as well. The executive chef definitley has a lot of experience and talent in his field. The prices were perfect too. Because it is so affordable it is the one restaurant we will go to more than once in a month.

We stopped in here over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The bread at this place is amazing. We had a crab dip appetizer that was really good. Their salads were very good too. They also had a good drink selection, with Spaten Oktoberfest on tap. The entrees we had were OK, but not as good as the appetizers. My shrimp scampi wasn't really shrimp scampi, and the pasta that came with it tasted off, my guess was that the spinach wasn't washed well enough. On the positive side, the pumpkin creme brulee was very good. The service was good, and the building has always had a great ambiance. They are also open Sundays, which is really nice since its very hard to find good Sunday dining options around here. We will definitely be back.

Let me just say that the complimentary bread (paired with flavored butter, herb-infused olive oil and hummus) is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to this place. Not only is it delicious, it goes to show that customer satisfaction is top priority at this restaurant. The only reason I am giving the restaurant 4 stars is for the lack of vegetarian options. I usually get the risotto (as delicious as it is), but am wanting to try some more of the fabulous food fire and ice has to offer. I usually pass on the oven baked pizzas, as I come here for cuisine. The cognac salads are wonderful, though. I will be back (again and again).
(4)Jennifer L.
I think fire and ice delivers some of the consistently best food in the valley and is overlooked and underrated, everything Ive eaten here has been amazing- they have many vegetarian options. I' ve been with friends who have gotten steaks multiple times and they have absolutely raved about them. Fire and Ice is definitely worth the stop

My wife and I eat here about once a month, and we're never disappointed. The food is consistently good, as is the service. The bread, made in their wood pizza oven, is awesome and addictive. The only thing to watch for is that some dishes terms to be a little heavy on the cream. Other than that, I definitely recommend Fire and Ice!

My husband and I were visiting the area from out of town and found this place on Yelp. We stopped for dinner without a reservation and were offered seats at the bar. We took them and were very glad that we did. The bread was really great and served with butter, olive oil, and hummus for dipping. We shared a large salad and then both ordered a chicken pot pie for our meal. It was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus and carrots. The pot pie was made with free-range chicken and it was obvious that they use good quality fresh ingredients. We each ordered a drink and were both pleased. Definitely happy worth our experience here and would make it a favorite if we lived here.

Bad service, mediocre food. Some of the worst service at a restaurant I have experienced and was the only time I've had to send my food back to the kitchen. My family and I were looking forward to celebrating a special occasion dinner here after hearing positive reviews. We had an early dinner reservation on a Saturday and the restaurant was only half full. Despite it not being busy, the kitchen was extremely slow. Appetizers came out sporadically rather than together so that at any given time some at our table had food while the others did not. And it took over an hour for our entrees to arrive. During the wait, our waiter was no where to be found. No one stopped by our table to apologize for food taking longer than expected and to see if there was anything they could get us while we waited, including drinks/refills. When the food finally did arrive, it included one of the restaurant's signature hearth-baked pizza that had been sitting out at the pizza station for 20-25 minutes under a heat lamp and a lukewarm burger, both of which we sent back and asked to be removed from the bill. For a restaurant whose own menu talks about their "commitment" to the "freshest, highest quality" food, they seem to have no problem serving their customers food that's been sitting out for an extended period of time and tastes like it. The owner did stop by our table to see if there was anything he could do, like get us something else to eat. When I told him "no thanks", he got annoyed that I wouldn't let him "cook something quick". But at that point, I was so tired from the already long wait and so disappointed with the whole experience, that I had lost my appetite, and his attitude added salt to the wound. He offered a free drink from the bar, but a $5 token gesture seemed too little too late. And why not have offered to credit any of the drinks that were already consumed? It would have been better if he was proactive with his help during the hour+ we were waiting for our food when our waiter was AWOL, rather than reactive after the damage was already done. It's a shame because we've been looking for a place in the Valley with good food and service to go as a family and we thought this was going to be the place. Given the poor service, long wait time, and mediocre food on a night when the restaurant should be showcasing its best, our search continues. I won't be back.

This review is primarily for their special events services, but I do have to say that the other times I have visited Fire & Ice for dinner or lunch, the service was always impeccable. As the MOH for my sister's wedding (and my first time with such an honor), it was seriously wonderful how accomodating and helpful Sandy (the owner) was with scheduling this shower. We changed a few things here and there before the date arrived, and each time Sandy answered my questions and was prompt to let me know that the changes were accepted. When the date finally arrived, my mom, the bridesmaids, and I decorated the back room with the help of our server, John, who was dedicated to our party. He helped from start to finish, and we wanted for absolutely nothing. He was beyond attentive and very helpful throughout the process - you can tell he's done showers before because he knew exactly how the schedule (games, food, arrival of the groom) was going to go; we didn't even need to fill him in. If you schedule a party, I would VERY MUCH recommend requesting his services, because he was really fantastic. The food (paninis, sweet potato fries, salad, hummus, etc.) was excellent. Everyone was raving about the food, and I think we got a great deal, because other places have a comparable price point with less desirable food items/atmosphere. The bride was especially pleased with the sweet potato fries and maple dipping sauce. She gushed about them, and the entire bridal table agreed that they were amazing. Everything went very smoothly, and my sister was very happy. Thanks to Sandy, John, and Fire & ice for making the day so special for us!

Fire and Ice has an upscale atmosphere but not to the point where it's uncomfortable. Went there for dinner and ordered from their twilight menu. As an appetizer, they serve fresh baked bread with butter, oil and rosemary, and hummus. It was delicious! My husband had to fight me for the last piece, but if you ask for more bread they'll gladly bring more for you. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie. That came with a salad and mashed potatoes and broccoli. The crust on the pot pie was so buttery, it melted in your mouth. I ordered the baked lobster crab cake. That also came with a salad, jasmine rice, and veggies. The crab cake was done perfectly, however for me there was some flavor that was a bit over powering, maybe too much green onion? Both of our salads were the orange cognac salad. It's a little tangy and comes with craisins, walnuts, and blue cheese crumbles. The prices were affordable and worth it! Can't wait to try it out again!

Special Event (baby shower) Review: I walked into a chaotic scene a bit late. What happened was a baby shower was scheduled to begin at noon, but when the hostess arrived at the restaurant at 11AM to set up, it was CLOSED and no one was inside. After multiple frantic (unanswered) calls and texts to the owner and the event planner, it was discovered that they forgot about the event. Fast forward an hour later they had finally sent someone to open up and begin cooking the food and serving drinks. Of course at this point, nothing was on time. I was impressed with how fast they did get everything ready. I suspect that some of the servers were not in fact regular servers, but random people called in to work there. The food was pretty tasty, considering, with a nice selection of vegetarian options. The hostess was beyond upset for the entire shower and this slip up ruined the day for both her and her family. Think twice before scheduling your special event at this venue, it could end up being a stressful nightmare.

Great food, great service, nice atmosphere. Excellent specials. A lot to choose from the menu is huge drink menu has great wines and great draft beers. Prices are on the higher side but never mind paying little moreover the food and service march up. And they do.
(5)Kyle K.
Solid place to eat at anytime! They have excellent food and I've never had a bad experience! The perfectly sized deserts are out of this world too!!

This is becoming one of my favorite dinner spots at home, and I got my parents hooked too. We always get a bottle of Riesling to start as we devour all the free bread that is served with some kind of (delicious) flavored butter and hummus. My favorites on the menu are: french onion soup, calamari (holy hell, so effing good), and all the risotto I can eat before wanting to vom. Love love love love!
(4)Eric E.
How do people give this place good reviews. Service is a solid one star, I get better service at a dirty Chinese restaurant. The food is bland, unseasoned, and flavorless. This place gets 2 stars simply because of the baller slaving away in front of the wood-fire pizza oven serving up amazing goat cheese, strawberry, bacon, and balsamic flatbreads. Guy is the best; I see you pizza guy. This guy single handedly saves this forsaken place with his magical bread making hands. Have people who reviewed this 4 and 5 star ever eaten at a real restaurant?

I live close by and come here often. The food is always at least good, and usually very good. The bread is awesome and comes with a variety of condiments. The desserts are also always quite good. The beer selection could use a little attention. The wine dinners that they host each month are great fun and a great value for the money, and the twilight menu is also a great deal. I've never had any problems with service here. I would definitely recommend this place.
(4)Dave B.
This place has the potential to be really great with a little polishing and TLC. I was visiting from out of town and brought a customer here because it is their favorite local restaurant. Pros: -The bread comes with three things; herb honey butter, olive oil with herbs & garlic hummus. The bread was straight from the oven and absolutely fantastic. All three condiments were also fantastic, especially the honey butter. -My customer had a fish dish and raved about it. -I ordered the NY strip. Perfectly cooked, excellent mashed potatoes, really good side veggies. -Service was polite and attentive. Cons: -Paper inserts for menus with stains on them. For a place with $20-$40 entrees, they could at least give us clean menus. -Lots of beers on tap, but they are mostly generic with just a couple of regional ales. I'm surprised they don't carry more of the local stuff. -Ordered a glass of red wine and it was totally off. I'm guessing that it had sat too long in the open bottle. For a place this pricey, I should never get something this sour. -We sat in the window area in the bar. Very cool location, but the seats are upholstered with old vinyl and need updated.

Catering review: I recently attended a bridal shower and a wedding catered by Fire & Ice. The shower was held at the restaurant and the food was set up buffet style. There were a ton of choices including 2 different types of panini (one vegetarian option), lots of fresh fruit and cheeses, stuffed mushrooms, sesame chicken skewers and more that I can't quite remember. The servers kept the delicious sangria flowing and they kept putting fresh food out on the buffet. The wedding was also set up buffet style and honestly, it was some of the best wedding food I've had. The buffet tables were set up so that a line could form on each side. There was delicious bread, hummus, assorted salads, steak, tuna steak, chicken kebobs, roasted vegetables, potatoes + some other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting. There was also a pasta station. The food was plentiful and fresh. People were getting 2 plates at a time and/or going up for seconds and there was plenty to go around. I didn't hear a single complaint about the food.
(4)Delia R.
Food is fantastic but having a couple of sixteen year old hostess' pushing the bar when there are definitely empty tables left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Their excuses fully booked, waiting staff overwhelmed and yet they had empty tables. This restaurant has excellent food that can stand on it's on without pushing the bar! Too bad they do not have a dress code!
(4)Jim M.
I have been a long time customer as the cook was the chef at my wedding reception. I have been here about 8 times since Aug when I moved back to NEPA. I can no longer recommend to friends and will no longer be going back. I had one exceptional waitress, 2 terrible ones and 5 average ones. The kitchen is generally very slow and the final insult was the 1 hour and 45 minutes we waited with my 4 and 2 year olds for dinner. The table next to me was a bigger party and was sat long after me and finished eating before my starving children were served. The food is of good quality but not at expense of inconsistent dining experience. I sadly can no longer recommend this place until they start acting like a restaurant who cares about it patrons.
(2)Kevin B.
We had reservations at another place that was closed due to weather. We called Fire and Ice in the middle of the afternoon and they managed to accommodate a group of 19 at the last minute for dinner. Food was excellent. Service was tremendous and the price was unbeatable. It worked out great for everyone in our group- from a two year old to our ninety year old guest of honor- everyone left with a smile.
(5)Chris R.
I have been here many times for both lunch and dinner. The food here has always been delicious and the service great as well. The menu is ever changing so you're not stuck with the same choices. I have sent many people here on the past and all have enjoyed the food.
(5)Charlie B.
I love this place. Good Menu, Good prices and the food is fantastic Service is wonderful and the bar is great. I'm a big fan.
(4)Jim M.
A late lunch for three was a pleasure of outdoor dining midweek. Red sangria and pumpkin spiced lagers quenched our thirst. Moist pulled pork on an odd tasting wheat roll was better sans bread. The French onion soup not served with a tradition crusty cheese cap, but had the cheese commingled with the broth, onions and toasted croutons served at the oh, the right temperature - not warm, but hot and inviting. The California turkey panini, overflowing with thick slabs of roasted turkey breast with avocados was a guest's delight.
(5)Kevin C.
The bread was fantastic. The hummus some of the best ever. Appetizers were delicious. The steak for my entree was great. The sides were not. Service was slow. Recommend reservations. Wine selection, while bountiful lacked favorites found elsewhere. Can't wait to try some other dishes. I'll be back!
(4)Ash K.
I've been here once and would definitely go back - the crab dip and loaded chips were amazing. The night I was there they also had a Sangria special, which was also great. The bartender was also personable, and their menu has a nice variety.
(4)Norm K.
Four of us had dinner here last night (12/20/09). My wife had a chicken dish which she enjoyed very much. The three others had the boneless ribs. It was a major disappointment. It tasted more like pot roast, dry and stringy, and it had an awfully sweet marinara/spaghetti sauce on the meat. I wouldn't come back to this place again. Prices are too high for what you get. It's just one more gussied up pizza joint in Northeastern PA with pretensions of things better than they are.
(2)Danielle S.
Perfectly decent, solid food. Four stars because the price is incredible and the quality and portions were great. At lunch you can add unlimited salad bar to any meal for $2.50 which includes really yummy homemade bread and butter.
