    Tickets to a show at the Sellersville Theater always means one thing - dinner right next door at the Washington House before the first band goes on stage. It was a special event in that my buddy Bob was attending his first live blues concert. And there is no better band to introduce one to the only true genre of American music than the power trio of the Tinsley Ellis Band of Atlanta. My girlfriend had not been to the restaurant in years and was looking forward to both. Traffic was miserable and we arrived 10 minutes past our Open Table reservation time. Calling the restaurant in the middle of the mess a very understanding hostess who appreciated the call assured us it was no problem. The Restaurant has been undergoing massive renovations. The outdoor seating I sat at last time I was there was gone. A water main break set them back with a new completion date in a month or two. It's an elegant, historical setting to dine - reminiscent of olden days when the Inn was founded in 1864 - quaint and yet cool at the same time. We started with adult beverages - a glass of blended red wine, a nice house Chardonnay and a selection of draft beer from 8 microbrews on tap. For dinner, my lady and I split a house salad with a tasty house made garlic vinaigrette. We all had that evening's specials. My girlfriend enjoyed the Mahi Mahi with fresh asparagus and fingerling potatoes. My buddy and I had the tube pasta with asparagus, sausage and tomatoes in a white wine sauce. Delicious. Portions were perfect size. For desert, my lady and I split the warm apple crisp special with vanilla ice cream and my friend had a chocolate torte cake. Very enjoyable as there was nothing left on the plates. Service was great, down to the constant refilling of the ice water glasses. Our waitress Haley was excellent. Overall, The Washington a great warm up to any event at the Sellersville Theater. I highly recommend it.

    JoAnn fabulous server. Food excellent. Had special smoked chicken ravioli with grape tomatoes, corn/peas inn light garlic cream sauce and salad with fresh fruit, goat cheese, grilled red onion with toasted almonds. New seating area outside is beautiful and warm.

    I've been here quite a few times, usually before a show at the Sellersville theater. I went again this past weekend with several friends. We sat in the bar at a booth, and the atmosphere there is really nice. I've always enjoyed the formal dining room and the outdoor seating, too. I wouldn't say the food was great, but it was good. I had the trout with brussell sprouts and mashed potatoes, and it was good but not super flavorful. One friend had the salmon which she loved and the other had steak that he said was good but not great. I will say that almost every time I have been here the service has been a little slow, even when you tell them you are going to a show.

    My first, and probably only visit to the Washington House was unfortunately a disappointment. The appetizer was the bruschetta. Bruschetta should be on some nice Italian toasts, or something worthy to hold up the topping. Instead, some crumbly crackers are offered. The bruschetta themselves, were mixed. The classic tomato was boring, the mango was probably the best of the lot, and the olive tapenade was a little too salty with the addition of capers. I had a seasonal salad with raspberry vinaigrette. This was probably the best thing I had. Not overdressed and well enough. I ordered the New Zealand Rack Of Lamb. My plate arrives. Let's get something straight. Four, count them, four cut and separated individual lamb chops is NOT a "rack" of lamb. If someone from the Washington House is reading this and begs to differ, please go to your favorite search engine, type in "rack of lamb" and look at the various pictures that are offered. This is not what your menu offers and what turns up on the plate. I ordered my lamb chops medium. First one was rare to medium rare, the other three were medium. When you've only got 4 lambs chops, messing one up isn't so good. The side of broccolini, drowned in some garlic oil and a heaping of scallion mashed potatoes did the job, but weren't anything special. I got a dessert of rhubarb/strawberry crisp thing. It was warmed nicely and as good. The place is old and charming. Service could have been better. The young lady clearing our plates was on the ball, but our server disappeared plenty of times, including right after our plates came out. Didn't see her for a good ten minutes afterward. Next time I'm heading to the Sellersville Theater, I will surely explore other options in the area.

    Had a perfectly pleasant Father's Day brunch here last weekend. The food was really delicious and the service was excellent. I had the brie, mushroom and spinach omelette while my husband had the quiche salad. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

    Just finished some food at Washington House before The Blasters (great band!) At the Sellersville Theater right next door. Great people work at the Washington House! I've been there several times over the past years and they always are exceptional! Sat at the bar, very old, but very clean! Had a salad & clams, WOW! HIT THE SPOT! Love the history and all the charm. Will always return. Thank you, to all the folks at Washington House - keep up the Good work!

    I ordered the Pecan crusted trout with sage brown butter and garlic mashed potatoes. My husband enjoyed the crunchy wedge of iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, red onion, bacon and bleu cheese dressing. It has been a couple of years so I don't remember what else he ordered but we were both very pleased with the high quality of ingredients they use in their fare. They also have gluten-free choices and vegetarian options. Their wine selection is very good. If you are going to a show at the Sellersville theatre, treat yourselves to a lovely meal at the Washington House first.

    Beautiful Historic building! The food, while a bit pricey, is very good. You can enjoy fine dining in one of the beautiful dining rooms or a bit more casual in one of the bar booths, either or, the service is provided by a very friendly, professional staff from the hostess to the bar staff to the wait staff. The owners make a point of being on site to ensure a great level of service...they obviously care a great deal for their patrons. Nice place to go to for Happy Hour at the bar... great specials. A varied menu that offers freshly prepared entree's and awesome desserts. If you have a special occasion this is a great place to book a private party, the ambience is lovely.

    After an afternoon spent trail riding, this beautiful historic spot turned out to be just the right choice to close out an adventure filled anniversary date. The food was excellent as were the cocktails. Next time I'm heading through town I'll definitely be stopping by.

    Went to the Washington House on a very snowy Saturday night. We arrived late for our reservation because of the weather- in fact, it was near 10:00 PM when we arrived. Well, the staff couldn't have been more pleasant. They did not act like they were inconvenienced by our lateness, they just welcomed us, showed us to our table, and provided us with our menus. Our server was helpful and very professional. All the food was very good. The salads were deliciously fresh with fresh dressing. We ordered filet and crab cakes, and both dinners were excellently prepared. The restaurant itself is in a very pretty historic building. Great ambiance! I highly recommend this restaurant for a comfortable night out.

    This place has good alcoholic drinks, but they are a bit over priced. I would not go here to eat again because even though they have well enough food it isn't worth what is costs. The atmosphere is nice, and the wait staff is friendly, but not always quick. We used to frequent here because we live down the street, but it really isn't worth it. I do plan to try their brunch at some point, and I will edit my review after that. I just haven't got around to it yet.

    UPDATE (8/13!4): The owner immediately reached out to me. I increased my star rating because of this and will DEFINITELY go and give this restaurant another shot. Will write a new review then, but this was a step in the right direction. 8/7/14 Went for lunch and was super disappointed! We were seated next to the kitchen entrance - you know, where they brew coffee (with the loudest percolator ever) and hide the dirty dishes. The place was empty, so it wasn't the only option. Not sure why they have a table there. Service was good. Menu selection seemed great - really good prices and a lot to choose from. So it's possible we just chose the wrong thing. I had one of the specials - a pork sandwich. It was super greasy and soggy. I could only eat half...and took the other half home for my dog. Ordered sweet potato fries...INEDIBLE. They were extremely burnt. Besides that, the food took forever to get to the table (although it did come out hot) - and did I mention it wasn't busy?? I didn't complain to the server because honestly, I had a gift cert, it wasn't her fault and knew I'd never come back to pay for food like this. One other note - I am handicapped (low vision/blind) and the place is extremely dark. Because of it's age, the floor slopes in odd places. And while I'm sure there's nothing they can do about it, this can be a danger to others who can't see well, use canes, etc. This isn't a criticism, just a note to other handicapped diners!

    It's a nice spot to eat outside if the weather is nice ... Maybe even if it isn't. The food was good not amazing. Super convenient if you need to eat before seeing an event at the Sellersville Theater (which we did). I give it fours stars since there was no insect zapper outside which would have made my meal more enjoyable without a fly constantly at our table. Perhaps a package deal with the theater would have been better. I would go back if I were in the area or if I was seeing another show at the theater.

    We always dine at the historic Washingon House restaurant prior to catching a show at the adjoining Sellersville Theater and have never been disappointed. The food is very good, the service is excellent, and the setting is, well, quite special! Defininitely worth the trip from Long Island, NY! The Washington House Restaurant/ Sellersville Theater experience is one of the best kept secrets on the planet! A favorite setting for a great weekend away!! Can't wait to dine there again!

    This review is for the bar. I like The Washington House (TWH) but it could be so much better. The primary reason I'm giving them 3-stars is because for a restaurant of this quality to serve frozen french fries is absurd. This is a red-flag...what other short cuts are they taking. Do they use instant potatoes for their mash or frozen veggies? Secondly the craft beer selection varies to slowly with the same beers featured for many months. The craft bottle selection is good but significantly overpriced. Otherwise the basic bar burger is very good although it's served with potato chips from a bag...so disappointing.

    *NEW YEARS EVE REVIEW* This was my 4th or 5th time dining at The Washington House, but my first time as a yelper. So I kind of knew what I was going to be getting. A great meal but I was never totally blown away here. After last night, it would be impossible for me to rate this any lower than 10 stars. But since yelp will only let me do five, that will have to suffice. Since we went here for New Years, they had only a five course dinner available for $63 a person. At first glance $63 does sound like a lot of money but a) for New Years, not really and b) the amount of food you get for $63 turned out to be a steal. My table had five people (including another yelper) and I thought about critiquing each dish, but that would get too lengthy. However, I cannot do this review without mentioning a few things: The waitress, Jen, greeted us with a complementary glass of champagne. Each person at the table got their own chef created amuse-bouche. The fried feta dumpling with tomato sauce was particularly delicious. It was like a traditional "mozzarella stick" you often find, however feta of course, and very creamy. The fresh tomatoes were great compared to a sauce. Next came the appetizers. Now, this ranks up with *one of* the best things I ever ate. Which is saying a lot. For my appetizer I got the Thai Curry Steak Eggrolls filled with shitake mushrooms, peppers and cream cheese, with hot mustard sauce. Think *fried Philly cheese steak*. The mustard was amazing, and what I would imagine the high a cocaine addict must feel considering the spicy mustard seemed to zing from my mouth to my nose to my brain rendering me completely addicted. I was very impressed with my experience here, more so than any other time I had been here. Maybe it was because it was New Years and the chef's were on top of their game... maybe it was because I was able to sample so many things. I would not be surprised to see the young executive chef Andrew Loeffler going on and doing even greater things in the future. I'd give just about anything for more of those Thai Curry Steak Eggrolls.

    The Washington House is convenient to the Sellersville Theater. That's about the only good thing to say about our experience eating at the bar here last Saturday night. We got there close to 8 PM when most people who are going to a show are finishing up, so I understand the rush to get people out the door. That does NOT excuse the bartender from completely ignoring us as she made several trips back and forth past us as we patiently waited for service. She did take care of the locals sitting next to us, who were clearly not in a hurry. She found time to chat with them on several occasions during this time. Interesting. She finally came over and took our order, which was a cocktail, a beer and a water. Several minutes later, she brings the cocktail and beer. No water. She did, however, bring the locals water. I had to ask the bus person for it. Server was surprised when we mentioned we wanted to order food. Why, I don't know. I think she assumed we were just stopping in for a quick drink before the show. Once we ordered food, the service was pleasant and fairly quick. Two dishes were pretty awful. "Pierogies" were tasteless ravioli on top of tasteless sauerkraut with tasteless white sauce of some kind. The special roast pork soup with dumplings was vile. Thin, brown dishwater with nary a dumpling and scant roast pork. Seriously gross. One spoonful was enough for me. My companion ate some but only because he was really hungry. He claimed to be offended when I said it was terrible because he was still eating it, and only admitted it was disgusting when we got home. Shouldn't specials be, well, special? Fried calamari was pretty good. Maybe it was an off night or something, but we will think twice before eating here again.

    great meals. on this day i got the shrimp and scallops over mushroom risotto. big thumbs up for me. a lot of food that i really didnt have any business finishing at one sitting. the table and atmosphere was a little dark. great vibe in the whole place.

    Had a wonderful dinner last Saturday. The service, food, and atmosphere are always classy. Loved the crab cakes and veal meatballs. They were cooked to perfection. Each room is decorated very elegant. The outdoor seating in the spring and summer is also wonderful. Nice to go and enjoy a beer on a nice summer night and watch the cars go by and watching people go and enjoy a live performance.

    Everything was just right for the five of us last night at The Washington House. Everything was very tasty and nicely prepared. We had Shrimp and bay scallops on risotto; the crusted Idaho trout; salmon in phyllo and crab and shrimp cakes with mashed potatoes. Everything was great! We all shared because it was so good. The Spring pea soup with crab meat was excellent. No dessert to comment on. There is a very good choice of wines and beers to choose from also. Warm cozy ambience and just right service topped it all off. We left feeling all warm and fuzzy.

    I came here for the New Years Eve five course meal and I admit I had reservations once looking at the menu. I can be a picky eater and I have a stomach problem that causes me to be even pickier. I had no reason to worry, the food was AMAZING and I ate things that the two year old in me would have not been the least bit interested in. We started the meal with a complimentary glass of champagne (we later also had the poinsettia champagne and cranberry juice drink-try it!) and hors d'oeuvres. We each received a small plate with three, two-bite sized hors d'oeuvres of baked phyllo, lobster canape and fried feta dumpling. All were delicious and I don't like seafood! Next, we all chose from a selection of five appetizers, I had the cornbread pancake tower which I can't wait to attempt to make myself. It was the perfect portion of pastry cake topped with spinach, red peppers and basil aioli. My pickiness did kick in as I had ordered it without the mushrooms. The other appetizers at our table were the shrimp and crab bisque and the thai currey steak eggrolls which many agreed was now one of the best foods they had ever tasted. The goodness of these eggrolls carried on to our conversation the following day. The salad we were served next was irresistible, I finished off every leaf. I'm just going to type exactly what it says on the menu and let it speak for itself: "Pistachio crusted goat cheese, clementines & herbed croutons over fancy mixed greens with raspberry balsamic vinaigrette." For the entree I chose the Roasted European Chicken Breast. It was moist and full of lemon flavor. It came with potato gratin and some nicely buttered vegetables. The steak fillet, the lamb and the veal cutlet were also big hits at our table. It was time for dessert and it was introduced with its own menu with about seven or eight difficult choices. Creme brule, chocolate peanut butter cake, cheesecake, apple strudel and a fruit pastry were all enjoyed. At the end of this great meal I was full, however, not overstuffed. The portions were perfect. The service was pretty good and I don't really have any complaints. Well, except maybe that the music in the ladies' room was too loud, but it turned out to be a good thing, because I don't like anyone to hear me pee. I'm pretty sure I just ruined my review now after talking about this delicious meal and now you have that image in your head...

    I was extremely disappointed with the quality and flavor. I had the trout with fingerling potatoes and Brussels Sprouts. The potatoes were so under cooked I could not cut them and I had crunchy and bitter Brussels sprouts. I also had something black that took several people to identify, turns out it was a purple potato. The trout was fine, just a very small portion. I was planning on sending it back but gave up waiting when my husband finished. My husband had the sausage fest. Although the portion was small he said it was just ok. We ate when we got home.

    A great place for dinner and drinks in Sellersville PA. Too bad my girl doesn't live in this town anymore. We loved going for drinks on the patio in the evening. If we are ever back in the area we'll be sure to stop by again.

    My parents decided to drive like 40 minutes away from home to take me out to dinner in Sellersville. My dad said to expect a Colonial type restaurant and I immediately knew this wouldn't be very good... not a fan of that stuff. Anyway, I was rather surprised. My dad's trout was kind of dry but tasty, my mom's crab cakes were not the best i've ever had but they had a tinge of lemon and were kind of salty so I really enjoyed it, and my favorite was my order. I got spring pea soup with jumbo lump crab and herb fried calamari which was definitely worth getting again. Their sweet potato fries were the perfect size and tasted great with sea salt. The salads were not so good though... Overall, I would give the food a 4 out of 5. The service was terrible though. I have to say that after I realized all the things that could go wrong in serving, (ie/ everything our server did), I started to really appreciate waitresses and waiters. As soon as we arrived, we were promptly seated at our table that was reserved. After that, everything went down hill... Our server took a few minutes to bring us our menus and then after that she just was never around and not very friendly. One thing that I really noticed that just about every other restaurant seems to do very well, that this place doesn't do is have you sitting around for long moments. At most restaurants, after you make your orders, your drinks come out on a timely manner and then your appetizers come out soon after and just as you're finishing your appetizers, your main course seems to come and then when you look like you're winding down, most waitresses check on you and ask if you need anything or want dessert... it didn't go like that here. She was never around if we needed something and there were huge gaps of time in between dishes. (think like 10-12mins)... crazy bad service!!! By the time I left the restaurant, I was just annoyed at how bad the service was. For the service, I guess I would give it a 2 out of 5... only because out waitress fell short of swearing us out or doing anything else unpleasant. As for the ambiance, I guess it was comfortable and the building was cute inside... although we reserved a table outside so I mostly have that to go on... nothing unusually amazing, but nothing bad, so I guess 4 out of 5. There was a group of poorly dressed, obnoxiously loud, middle aged women on a "girl's night out" thing who clearly never get out and trying to get as drunk as possible... so that kind of took away from the tranquil outdoor seating :( Basically this place is mediocre or a 3 and I would not go out of my way to come back here. As one of the reviewers said, the service, crowd, and decor isn't as good as the food... I would add to that and say the food isn't that good either... Out of all the factors, I guess the food wasn't that bad though... if you do come here, do try the spring pea soup with jumbo lump crap... its pretty good!

    Went here for St. Patty's Day. Not what I expected. They had a few little cheap trinkets decorating the table. Not enough choices for real kind of food you want. Like a good corned beef and cabbage. Cook was too frilly and portions way too small. Potatos smelled and tasted musty. The beer was good. Wait staff was friendly but service was very slow. Glad I wasn't going to the Theatre next door! I see some good reviews so maybe I will try it again.

    We are new members of the Sellersville Theater. On Wednesday, 6/26/13, we had dinner at the Washington House Restaurant prior to the Billy Cox Band of Gypsys show at the Sellersville Theater, which is right next door. Man, did we have a great dining experience! Our server was great, & so was our corner table by the window. We started with the Jumbo Lump Crab Dip appetizer, which was FANTASTIC! Next, my wife ordered the Phyllo Wrapped Canadian Salmon, & I had the Jumbo Lump Crab & Shrimp Cakes. We couldn't have enjoyed them more. We finished off our meal by sharing the Banana Walnut Bread Pudding with cinnamon caramel ice cream dessert & cappuccino. I don't remember EVER enjoying a dessert more than this one. Great job, Washington House - can't wait to return for another great meal!

    Washington Place is where I end up before going to the Sellersville Theater next door. It can sometimes be a crowded nightmare, but this Wednesday night the show wasn't that popular and I found a seat at the bar. Craft beer selection here is quite good and I was quite pleased to see they had a stout from Free Will brewing in neighborhood Perkasie. To eat I had the house salad tossed with ranch dressing. Ingredients were fresh, including very nice heirloom cherry tomatoes, as well as a house made ranch dressing that did not overpower the salad. For dinner I ordered an appetizer steak frite, a 4 oz filet with a side of parmesan crusted fries. The steak came with a balsamic reduction and the parmesan fries were accompanied by a basil aioli. Very good and I appreciate such a small portion. Dessert was a pumpkin cheesecake which was passable, but paired well with the Southampton Pumpkin Ale. The coffee unfortunately was pretty pedestrian. Good food, decent service, not the cheapest meal but well worth it.

    We ate at the Washington House in Sellersville (Bucks County), PA. It's about an hour drive from the Main Line where we live and I have to say that it was pretty good and I would recommend it if you happen to live in or are travelling through the northern suburbs of Philadelphia. From the Main Line, it's not worth the drive, especially at today's gas prices. We went because we were with friends who dropped off their son at a social event in the area. So, it was a good chance to check out the Washington House, as well as Sellersville which is one of those cute older towns outside Philadelphia. But as good as it was, it was not THAT special that it was worth such a schlep. But on to the food ... We started with a yummy bruschetta sampler--three different kinds in a creative presentation. I had the Asian style salmon as my main course. I enjoyed it, especially the vegetables that went along with it. My wife had the seafood risotto which she quite liked. Our companions both had veal sausage meatballs. I didn't taste them, but they said they were good. There's a nice wine list as well. We decided to get dessert. The peanut butter mousse was amazing. The strawberry tarte was only OK--the strawberries were too large and the custard part was too thin. All in all, it was a nice evening, but too far from most parts of Philadelphia other than the northern suburbs.

    We were hoping to find another local gem, but unfortunately we failed. The food was fine, but not great. My "medium" steak was actually well done, and my husband's seafood platter lacked flavor. The server wasn't attentive, but we have no regrets - we just won't be back.

    What a great place! We had dinner reservations here at 7:45 on a Friday night. We got there and our table wasn't quite ready, but that was fine because we got a drink at the bar. I had a "poinsettia"--champagne and cranberry juice, and it was very good! The wine list was extensive and they had a good amount of beers as well. I had a glass of beaujolais nouveau with dinner that was great! The table was ready in about 15 minutes. The restaurant is in a great old house, and the decor is fantastic! They had a Christmas tree set up in the corner. Once we got seated, our waitress came over right away, and she was very nice and attentive! I got one of the specials, a pork tenderloin dish and their soup of the day, a chipolte potato soup. Both were amazingly good! The other dishes around the table looked great as well. There was lamb, seafood pasta, and fish. They also have a selection of sandwiches, but no one at my table had any of them. The specials were reasonably priced. Mine was $19.95 and it was worth it! Dessert was great as well! I had Linzer torte, which I had never had before! There was also a fresh fruit tart, a chocolate cake, and a few other selections. Being around the holidays, each family got a sealed envelope that you can bring back after Jan. 2 to be opened by your server. It can have anything from a free appetizer to a $200 gift card. I can't wait to go back!

    This is the traditional staple in our area. When you want to dine out and eat the best traditional fare with a solid Beer and Wine list, this is where you go. The ST94.com theatre is right next door to make it easy to grab a bite before the show. There is nothing on the menu that I don't like. Actually, everything is incredible, delectable and seriously heavenly so just go - take my word that you will be thrilled with the choice. Celebrations, dining out with friends - this is a great place with good food and the atmosphere is nice too. Sometimes it can get loud, but you won't mind when your food arrives. It makes you forget about everything else going on around you.

    We ate there last night and had a superb meal. The food couldn't have been better, and the service was very good. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The noise level in the dining room we ate in was rather high, however, but that didn't prevent us from having a great time.

    Really nice place to have dinner or just drinks. Great old fashion style. The burgers were excellent and the pumkin cheese cake was out of this world. Highly recommend.

    I have eaten here a half dozen times, usually because I am attending a music show at the Sellersville Theater next door. I love this restaurant! Great old building, good food, nice staff, fair prices. The bar is a nice room, too. Highly recommended.

    Had a wonderful meal Friday night! You must try the crab chips! Nice quiet homey atmosphere, and top notch food! Our waitress Kelly was very knowledgable of the menu and wine pairings and made great recommendations... We will definitely be back!

    I highly recommend this bar and restaurant! Stopped in here for dinner to avoid rush hour traffic back to Jersey and what a surprise! This bar and restaurant is also located next to the Sellersville theatre and would be great for a pre-show drink or dinner. We sat inside and the antique bar atmosphere was superb! We were welcomed and seated immediately and were updated on the current draft last and given waters before our waiter came and informed us of the daily specials as well. We were in time for buy one get one apps and enjoyed the calamari with kalamata olive and feta as well as the special mussels with leeks and bacon. Both for only $11! Amazing quality and unbelievable pricing (at least what I'm used to paying in South Jersey). I had the vegetarian zucchini sandwich and my boyfriend had the blackened salmon po boy sandwich, we had trouble deciding whose sandwich was better! Apparently they plan on reopening the inn in 2016 and inn patrons will receive discounts to the restaurant and theatre as well. All in all we enjoyed or experience and will definitely stop in again if in the area!

    Lovely outdoor seating. Menu had enticing items. They served the Improved Caesar Salad with brown, mushy old avocado. It was so mushy how did they cut it? Really foul. Salad went back to the kitchen. The Spanish fries had black, burnt to a crisp onions. Had to pick through them. Not impressed on a first visit. Not likely to return. I'll stick with Jarrettown Hotel.

    Wow!! This was extremely surprising!!! We have lived in Sellersville for over 14 years and never came here. Today, I thought it would be nice to take my dad here for Father's Day brunch. We were led outside to a bunch of tables set for 2 or 4 with white flowers surrounding us. We sat down and we were immediately welcomed by our waitess, Haley. She explained the specials menu very well! We ordered the sweet potatoe fries and fried herb calamari for the appetizer. The sweet potatoes were VERY good, melted in my mouth!! The calamari was also a very nice treat, it was crispy and had an amazing presentation. They also gave you a good amount!!! (More than what I was expecting) My dad ordered the sandwich on the specials and I ordered the grilled European chicken. It was presented very pretty and elegant, had a nice flavor of lemon and the peas and tomatoes that were mixed in the rice really added to the overall flavor. Haley continued to check on us to make sure everything was okay, and she even brought over some rice crackers for me. (I'm gluten sensitive) During our meal she came over to check on us again and we asked how old the building was. She said it was 300 years old and used to be an old rest stop!! She was extremely informative and knew a lot about where she worked! Bravo to that!!!! We later ordered the limoncello creme brulee. It was perfect for 2!!! Exactly how I was expecting, creamy, sweet, and delicious. When we were ready to pay the bill she gave us a small pamphlet about the restaurant. Our experience was lovely and we will definitely be returning in the future! Thank you!

    I've been to the Washington House about 3 times now. The first time I went, it was for Sunday brunch. Not only was it delicious, but, the portions were very reasonable. Since then, I have been here twice for dinner and I have come away with a different opinion. The first time, I ordered the duck leg, and a duck leg is what I got. The last time I looked at a leg, it had a thigh attached to it, but, not this time. I will admit it was tasty, but, at somewhere around $25, it was way over priced. My last visit was last weekend. I ordered the chicken, artichoke, pasta in cream sauce. This one was a bit unusual in that it had lemon in the cream sauce. Cream and lemon is a tough combination to pull off. I'd say it was o,k., but, nothing to rave about. However, once again, the portion was ridiculously small. I doubt there was more than 5 small thin medallion size pieces of chicken in the serving and only a hand full of pasta.

    There are few other options in the area. The food is OK in the pub. The food in the restaurant tends to be pricey...BUT I have now attended two wine tastings at WH and am very impressed. ( go here: washingtonhouse.net/Tast… ) The value is outstanding for the quality of wine paired with the food. Take the opportunity to make a reservation - you won't be disappointed.

    I really wanted to give this place 4 stars and prove to myself that maybe you can't take the restaurant out of Hicksville, USA, but you can take the Hick out the restaurant. I was wrong, you can't take the Hick out of a restaurant in Hicksville. The service/crowd/decor does not do the food proud. OK, the bar: A dingy, old, tchotchke decorated bar area, with half of their stools without all of their leg supports, rock back and forth, or were actually the original chairs from the 1700's. The bartender was friendly, but pre-occupied chatting with regulars, a full bar, full bar tables, all handled by one person. So I had to wait close to ten minutes to order one drink. The dining room: So after that one drink, we moved to the dining room. Decorated to look like your Grandma's house, and the crowd's age to match, again we encountered snail paced service. Fortunately I am a good conversationalist ;-) so slow service didn't bother me as it did others. The food: This saved me from a 2 star rating. The seared tuna special, requested rare and prepared perfectly, was fresh, tasty, and only some veins running through it, almost perfect sushi grade. It was served with a soy glazed cabbage and rice. Very nice, 9/10 quality. My friend had the European chicken, sage infused, tasted very good, but I did not "get" the addition of the sweet potato chips to the dish that already had rice with it. Whatever, what do hicks know anyway. A 4 star rating for the food, 2 stars for the decor, condition of the bar stools, and the slow service.

    If you are looking for an overpriced place to eat before taking in a show at the Sellersville theater than this is your place. The historic Washington House adds a bit of class to downtown Sellersville. However, at the prices they charge you really should get better than average food. Service is hit or miss. They are lucky they sit next to the theater IMO.

    I think that this was probably my favorite place to eat until I moved. The service is VERY good (except for one waitress). The food is delicious! I've never had a bad meal here. We went for my birthday last year, and I got a free dessert. I sure do miss the Washington House. Whenever I go back to PA for a visit, this is the first place I will be going to eat! You also can't beat the atmosphere. It's very quiet and romantic. We went there for Valentine's Day. It was the perfect way to celebrate!

    Maybe not quite 3 stars but the 5 peg system is all I have to rate with. 1st the good. The place is charming, nicely decorated, has outside curb seating and a manageable menu with items from sandwich to entrees over $22. Here comes the knock. Bruschetta appetizer is a great idea and there are 3 different spreads. Why the cheapie *Keeber* toasts. They are too thin and brittle. Next was the big iceberg lettuce wedge with blue cheese, bacon and onion. It's hard to mess this up but my lettuce was bit on the floppy/rubbery side on outside leafs. Lettuce should be very cold and crisp throughout. I ordered the $8 chicken salad sandwich. I'm not complaining about the price because $8 seems like the de facto standard price nowadays. Where was the chicken salad? There is some on it but not near the $8 version I was expecting. The Sysco chips that came with it are as valuable as a parsley garnish. If you're going to a show at the theater, it makes perfect sense to eat here but after 2 times I might have to look else where.

    Went here after a show at Sellersville Theater. The place was not that busy, but the kitchen was very slow. Our server was very nice and apologized for the slow service. We ordered the wedge salad (good), the blackened salmon Po Boy (very good), and the crab cake sliders (average).

    I have been coming here for years. The food has always been great along with the service. They have a very nice beer list ( nice selection of craft and Belgium beers) I would highly recommend this restaurant

    I was here for a nice dinner before a Get The Lead Out concert. If you like Led Zeppelin then you have to see this band but enough about GTLO. We made our reservation using OpenTable - luv doing that...and we were ushered right to our table. To our pleasant surprise, on Friday's you get a sample of 4 wines for $10. Not a bad deal. My GF loved that part of the experience. Their beer list was wonderful also. I started off with a wonderful Bells Hearted IPA followed by a Left Hand Saw Tooth ESB---supurb! So on to the menu. I am on a Vegan kick right now so I wasn't sure what I would be expecting. To my surprise, they had a stuffed Poblano pepper. Yummers. It was wonderful. Highly recommended for even you animal eaters out there....lol. My GF had Asian Glazed Scottish Salmon over Fried Rice and she absolutely loved it. Kept raving about how great it was. I will stick with my Poblano Pepper. It was not Vegan because of the cheese but I ordered without cheese. For Dessert, we split the Gluten Free Decadent Chocolate Soufflé. My GF had a Bailey's coffee. She was now really ready for GTLO!! After all this, I didn't gain an ounce. Of course that might have to do with the fact that I went for a 15 mile run the next day but I choose to believe that The Washington House takes all the calories out of their food before serving. This was a wonderful dinner before a fantastic concert!!! Can't get better than this experience.

    Yes, the Washington House has that sort of "antique country" decor that some find annoying. True that the servers turn over pretty quickly, but service is generally friendly and good (if spotty at times). But if you read all the reviews here, the one consistency is the food: it's excellent. The menu changes seasonally but there are items that stay: shrimp/bay scallop risotto, wedge of iceberg salad with blue cheese and walnuts, delicious roast pork, etc I have eaten here dozens and dozens of times and only had a bad meal once -- something was not prepared correctly, I forget what the exact problem was -- and when I spoke up they immediately comped my meal as well as cooked me something delicious as replacement. There is just no place within 20 miles that compares, for consistently delicious, well-prepared dining.

    A nice n' quaint place out in the country...worth a look! I would have never found this place had I not been going to see a show at the Sellersville Theater a while ago, but from what I quickly gathered the two places are all but inextricably linked. Dinner and drinks at the Washington, show at the Theater, fun time had by all. It is the very definition of "old school", mostly in terms of ambiance. If it looks like a holdover from colonial days...well, it is. The interior is warm and inviting, and the staff is most friendly. Even if you are just getting drinks, you'll know the name of your bartender in short order. The food is inventive and changes with the seasons, and on certain days every month they have wine and beer tastings. Different happy hour specials every day as well (both food and drink). You can just do the bar food thing if you want, from wings to crab chips (godlike)! Cheaper (but no less good) sandwiches and the like round out the bar menu if you don't want to do the full dinner experience. If you find yourself fighting traffic to get downtown weekend after weekend, and wonder why...well, don't. Turn around and come here. Find something that interests you at the Theatre and make it a complete evening. Its different, to be sure...but worthy of your time.

    We decided to try this place since it's nearby and I heard good things about it. It's in a old house with traditional, "country classic" style decor. The ambiance didn't bother so much but it was something that I just didn't like about it. We considered leaving a couple of times but decided to give it a try. The food was actually pretty good. I ordered the crab and shrimp cakes. They were served with mashed potatoes and snap peas. The portion size was good and prices not bad around $23.
