As soon as you walk in, it feels like you're stepping back in time. It's sort of like walking into an old farmhouse. The ingredients are just as fresh too. The iced green tea with mint is delicious and refreshing. I ordered the taragon shrimp wrap. My colleague ordered the cajun salmon. Both were very flavorful and fresh and came with homemade french fries and you can totally tell they're made from real potatoes. Dessert is very interesting: dark chocolate goat cheese truffles in peanut butter, mint, or coconut. We tried the coconut. I recommend a taste if you like goat cheese. The service was a little slow so I took off a star, but it's definitely worth the wait.

What a jewel of a place to find in Selinsgrove. My wife and I are SU grads (class of '69) and recently visited Emma's for lunch during a recent visit to the campus. We loved all that Emma's has to offer, from it's delicious food, the free glass of wine (courtesy of a local winery), friendly staff (an SU student), wonderful iced tea and fantastic teas for purchase. I strongly recommend Emma's for anyone looking for a very good meal.

Driving in Pennsylvania on the way to Scranton, we stopped to eat at Emma's after reading the positive Yelp reviews. Yelp did not steer us wrong. Our meal was one of the best we've had in a long time. The falafel curry is a great example of Emma's talent for combining flavors. The corn chowder was delicious and the olive tapenade burger was outstanding. In addition, the mint jasmine tea was beyond refreshing. Be sure to save room for dessert. The menu is a testament to good locally sourced food prepared by an extremely talented chef.

She uses seasonal, locally grown food whenever she can. Very tasty and fresh food! Very good prices and very delicious food. Did I mention the food is fresh and good?!

Best food ever. Great selection of vegan & vegetarian options as well as meat-eating awesomeness. Not just is it as organic & local & grassfed as possible, but it is just delicious! My favorite place to eat in Selinsgrove!

A wonderful restaurant for lunch or dinner. We ate here while travelling thru the area and were pleasantly surprised. Wonderful friendly staff and excellent food. Very fresh and freshly prepared. If you are travelling the Hwy 15 corridor, take some time to get off the main hwy, visit the downtown heritage area and stop for lunch or dinner. After years of flying by Selinsgrove, we stayed overnight in the area and discovered this great little establishment.

My family and I have dined at Emma's on several occasions over the past couple of years with Saturday 7/16 being our most recent visit. We have never walked away disatisfied with our meals or with the service. The prices are reasonable and the size of the portions are generous. The only thing that I can take issue with is the badly chipped table ware.

Be prepared to spend money and appreciate your investment. I have never had a bad meal in this establishment and the staff is always pleasant and unique. Organic, locally sourced ingredients are only the tip of the delicious iceberg. In Selinsgrove, it doesn't get any better.

We were a few hours into our roadtrip heading back to the West (Washington state) and became rabidly hungry - Roy Rogers, sheetz, and McDonald's were looking good but in our hearts we knew they would be gross and instantly dissatisfying ... I can thank yelp once again for finding Emma's for me - totally on the way and 100 percent overwhelmed my expectations! This is only a 4 star because we are in a rush to get to New York and the service was a little slower paced - but I think the pace would be fine if I didn't have anything else planned for my day or night and just wanted a really good meal. If they ask you if you want bread to start with and you say no, then you are a fool. Best homemade bread I've had in a while. Have issues with salmon in pasta in your past? Let these guys reeducate your palate - their smoked salmon penne is mouthwatering. Pork chop had more fat than meat and because it was so thick the meat was a little dry but the flavor was there for sure and the potatoes that came with did not disappoint! What I thought was extraordinarily awesome is the fact that they sell their meat (they should sell their bread!) - we bought 3 lbs of bacon to hand out to friends as gifts as we make our way across the states.

Was in town for a couple of days on business and was very pleasantly surprised to find what I call clean food. First night I had the lentil walnut burger. The burger was very good but the bread was a little dry and the whole thing broke up easily. About a 3 overall. Returned the second night because it is the only option for me and I knew the place had promise. Had the falafel curry and it was really good. Could have used a little more spice but very fresh tasting. The sundried vinaigrette dressing on the side salad was awesome. 4 stars. Small place with friendly staff. Also picked up a cool tea from their wide selection to take back home to my wife.

Love the concept of this place but I have been here twice now and the food is decent. One time ordered the rueben but there was little to no meat, all bread. Another time ordered the mushroom burger but the bun was really doughy and somewhat bland.

kale salad with feta and walnuts was delicious. My colleagues got the salmon salad and loved it. Wasn't a huge fan of the hummus...I know my hummus...just didn't have much flavor.

Menu is very friendly for vegans and vegetarians. The complimentary bread was very good. The reason that I gave it only three stars was because the service was lack luster and the burger I ordered was almost all bread.

Stayed at a hotel nearby with my 16 year old son on our way to Camp Woodward. Found this little gem and dragged him there. I had the hummus (excellent and love that it is served with fresh veggies) and he had the cheese sticks (unconventional) and loved them. I had the portabella mushroom sandwich and he had the burger as mains - both excellent. Service was terrific and timely. I am an easy sell on a restaurant like this, but the fact that my picky and pretty typical 16 year old also really liked it, is a testament!! Only critique I have is the decor - a bit drab. Food is fresh and so the decor should be. Ditch the brown, ugly table coverings for something lighter and fresher.

Loved Emma's!! They have an excellent tea selection (there's a separate tea menu) and I enjoyed my food as well. I ordered an iced cherry blossom green tea, a hummus plate, and the lentil walnut burger. Cute interior as well, the front room surrounded by windows is the best.

Food was freakin fantastic. Was so fresh. Everything felt home made. Had the falafel curry, and the walnut burger. Would definitely come back next time I am in this area.

Everything tasted super fresh and yummy! I had the plum BBQ tempeh and it was absolutely amazing! Plus our server was really nice and I was pleased with there extensive tea selection. So happy I found this gem of a restaurant knowing that all their ingredients come from good places.

The stuff we loved : Duck Ruben Sandwich, a Mushroom Pizza, Stewed Lamb Soup, Smoked Salmon Penne, Hummus, Falafels and Pita bread, and a couple of salads. All the food was brilliant. The ingredients were fresh. They weren't lying when they said it's as close to the farm to table experience as you can get anywhere. They've got a decent selection of dishes from different cuisines. I loved that they have a large section of vegetarian and seafood dishes. The Crumbled Pecan Pie was a wonderful end to a brilliant dining experience at Emma's, en route to Niagra Falls. Emma's is a farm to table kinda homely place with wonderful unique offerings If you're ever going that way, stop by here for your meal. You won't be disappointed.

Vegetable lasagna is unbelievable! Maybe it was the free samples of local white & red wines but it was the best I have ever had! Atmosphere is ok, but did I mention free wine samples???

Stopped at Emma's and was pleased to find home cooked food while in the road. The service was great and we loved the kale salad, fresh soup and homemade spivey mustard. Will definitely return.

Visiting from Ohio. Love this place! Delicious food, tons of vegetarian/vegan options!!! :) Great service, good music, lovely atmosphere. Such a delightful experience.

5 of us ate here and no one was happy. I think the chef forgot the seasonings that night. The falafel was acceptable but the lentil walnut burger and the mushroom burger had no taste. We cook vegan meals every day and know it can taste great! The duck lasagna was ok. The service was great!

The service was terrible, we waited over an hour for our food when the place was almost empty and when we finally got it it was cold and they messed up the order. Also our waitress did not have good hospitality skills at all. The food was below average but it seemed to be healthy at least

We just had a fantastic meal at Emma's! The Northern Lights salad had the most delicious salmon. We found out that the owner smokes the salmon herself. The burger was filling, yet light! The whole wheat roll was a great topper to the deliciously grilled seasoned grass-fed beef. The fries were delightfully, perfectly crispy and salted to perfection. The whole grain pita pizzas were delicious as well! The homemade buttermilk dressing was the perfect sauce for the salmon pizza. Our father thoroughly enjoyed the Porky Pita Pizza with sausage made by the owner. Incredible meal with a super friendly staff.

I've had the pleasure of enjoying Emma's food in her restaurant so many times, and each meal has been awesome - delicious, creative, health-supportive, fresh, local, and lovingly prepared. Can't ask for much more than that! I also was lucky enough to have Emma cater my wedding. It was FANTASTIC, and my friends and family are still raving. The food was beautiful and scrumptious, and she and her team were true professionals from start to finish. I recommend Emma's Food for Life for life!

I'm a pescaterian from South Florida where you can find countless restaurants, plenty of which have exceptional menu choices that accommodate specialized or restrictive diets, ie vegetarian, vegan, organic or gluten free. You realize just how spoiled you are when visiting a smaller town that has significantly less dining options, so to have a gem like this not too far from where we stayed in Lewisburg was great. We had the falafel app, cheese and vegetable pizza, salad with smoked salmon and the bean wrap, and nothing was disappointing. I strongly recommend this quaint and unexpected find to meat lovers and non-meat eaters alike.

I have no idea how someone could justify going to the Subway across the street for lunch. I'm sure it's a fine Subway, but Emma's has amazing locally sourced food at really reasonable prices and it would be a travesty too not pay the $2 more at Emma's for an amazing flavor experience you'll savor for a week. There's something for everyone on the menu and if our selections were any indication it's all good. l'd offer that Emma's could compete with any big city gem near where I live. People of Selinsgrove, I urge you to treasure this place and visit often :-). Emma would make a fortune if she opened a place in Baltimore!

Emma's is LOVE! In PA visiting Penn State (WE ARE- PENN STATE!) for wife's graduation. Stayed in B&B in SElinsgrove, saw Emma's and made a mad dash! Wife had the Cajun seared Salmon- gave me a taste- WOWSERS! Fabulously done to a 'T'. My Grass-fed Olive Tapenade burger on spent grain bun kicked my beef-o-meter into HIGH GEAR- the GRASS-FED BEEF taste ROCKS! The Olive Tapenade was supportive w/o being overpowering- on a perfectly done burger (medium rare). Spent grain is way-yy softer and nuttier tasting than any other bread I'd had until then. I wish I would never have to eat another burger other than Emma's! This gem is very much worth the 60-mile drive from State College, PA home of Penn State (PSU). Of course, we were already STAYING in Selinsgrove, and if Emma's wasn't closed Sunday's and Monday's we would have raided her kitchen yet again. Alas, that will have to wait until the fall when we return for our visit to Gettysburg.

Amazing! Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I'm not super into all the frills, I just want good food that is GOOD for YOU. This place has it all! I got the Olive Tapenade Burger, split the falafel for starters, and had a brownie sundae for dessert. Everything is fresh and locally sourced. The bread they use is made fresh in house and is better than any bread I've ever had. I'm from lewisburg but I live in the Philly suburbs now, and I wish there was a place like this closer to home! I will definitely back. Tell all your friends about this place!

This has to be one of the tastiest meals my family has ever had. We started off w the Falafel, w excellent tahini. My son ordered the seared salmon and we were all fighting over it. I never thought I liked salmon until eating here. My husband had a summer chicken salad and the chicken tasted how chicken used to taste, moist delicious and just yum! My Greek salad was very crisp w seasonal vegetables, not to mention our black bean soup made us beg for the recipe. For desert we had the berry cobbler and zucchini chocolate cake. It was so good my husband went back and hugged the cooks. I wish there was one of these as a chain, how food should be!

What a gem! First time I've been to Selinsgrove in years, and had a truly excellent meal. 3 in our party, enjoyed excellent bread made in house, with pumpkin butter; a very fresh salad, as good as if it was picked fresh from my own garden, and we tried the Grilled Vegetable Pesto Lasagna special, the pork chop special and the regular entree of mushroom lasagna. All were delicious without exception. First time in years I have seen a 3-page menu of teas! Tea nirvana! Also had the berry crumble dessert special, also delicious, with fresh whipped cream. Across the board hits, run, don't walk to Emma's NOW! You won't be sorry.

Excellent experience! Can't beat a place with great staff, relaxed atmosphere and tasty food for all : plenty of meat and cheese, but plenty of dairy-free, gluten-free and well, vegan. Also, they have an entire menu just for the tea selection. Recommended by a local, we were so impressed that that the family decided that it is a "must-visit" every time we're in the area from out-of-town.

Great place - good, interesting food, happy, frendly staff - have been in 49 states and this is tops overall.like it better than even "le be fin" which had great food but a snooty, expensive atmosphere

Emma's is located a few blocks from our home and we frequently walk there for dinner at our children's requests. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing, the wait staff has never been less than extremely pleasant and the complimentary glass of wine from Shade Mountain Winery is a nice addition to any meal. Emma's uses fresh, local produce and meat whenever possible and you can really taste the difference, especially when it comes to the burgers. The olive tepanade burger is out of this world! The homemade bun that the burger comes on is worth eating just by itself. The cinnamon butter and fresh bread that are served in place of plain rolls are also wonderful. When we announce that we are going out to eat, the kids beg us to go to Emma's. My daughter loves their lemonade and my son loves their mint tea. I have also never seen a bowl of macaroni and cheese quite as big as the one that my daughter received the last time we were there (I think it may have been an entire box). It can take a little longer than most places to get your food but the atmosphere is pleasant enough and the food is good enough that we have never minded the wait. They have also have items for sale (teas, wine, Selinsgrove merchandise) that you can peruse while your food is being prepared. I am very thankful to have a wonderful establishment like Emma's so close. They have turned our family into loyal customers for life.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but I just couldn't. I love that this place exists. It's so hard to eat healthy when I travel, I was pleasantly surprised to find this in such a small town. They source all natural ingredients, and are probably the only place within 20 miles to tell you what is gluten free. That said, the food was just okay. The chicken soup was REALLY salty and the burrito was eh. I'm rooting for them. But they're not where they need to be tastewise.

  • Veg L.

As a (mostly) vegan, I've eaten something like 100 vegan burritos in my time. Most of the time, I enjoy them a lot. They're hard to make *bad*, ya know? Well seasoned beans + some veggies and perhaps a good salsa and your options are good or better. This is why I was so shocked at the awful piece of crap that graced my plate during my one (and only, forever) meal at Emma's. The beans were dry and flavorless, the "vegan sour cream" - which is again easy to make delicious - was stomach-turningly awful, like wouldn't feed it to my dog awful, and despite the promise of a whole wheat wrap it came on a white one (a minor complaint, I realize). I just don't understand how you could f*ck up a vegan black bean burrito. But they did.
