I'm a student at Marywood and often walk to Zummo's with my friends. It is a great cafe- a hidden gem among the Dunkins and Starbucks of the area. The coffee, along with the atmosphere, is great. I personally recommend the quiches. Any type is delicious! Just be willing to spend a little more than you'd expect (but maybe I'm just speaking as a college student). Another great plus is how this business utilizes social networking. They post their menus and specials on Facebook daily, along with any other updates.

We discovered this wonderful coffee house while driving from Massachusetts to Pittsburgh. It serves delicious coffee, sandwiches, quiche and assorted pastries and has a cool little urban vibe. Don't miss peanut butter sticky buns! And if you want to stretch your legs, the neighborhood to the northeast has some beautiful old houses.

The selection of great coffees on their board is unrivaled by anyplace I've ever been( 54 countries) I feel sorry for non coffee drinkers. The neighborhood hub for meeting up with everyone. World-class selection mixed with local-yokels. Photographs of the original owners of the penny candy store(Vince Zummo and his brother Tony) from the shoe repair side are prominently placed giving a sense of history. Parking is always a cinch.

Great coffee, teas, wraps, etc. Atmosphere is relaxed and comfy. Great place to hang and read, write or work from your laptop. Saw a group of ladies playing cards last week in their back room lounge. You can also take advantage of the outdoor porch or Adirondack chairs in the front yard.

Such a cool little coffee shop. I love how they have the old homey feel. The ladies working this morning were very nice. If you want to use your credit card/debit card there is a $5.00 minimum the bagels with cream cheese was tasty. I also got just the fresh brewed coffee which was a little stronger then I am use to but no complaints

I heard about this place from a friend and found myself in love. They still use Electric City Roasting coffee beans and they have a ton of options for drip and espresso coffee. They have organic roasts and all varieties of roast intensities. The food is made daily in small batches and I wasn't lucky enough to get the quiche I wanted but did get the sweet potato and black bean soup which was great. They also have an amazing range of desserts so don't get too full!! The place is actually big so don't be fooled by the outside. Good local artwork for sale on the walls! A great find.

Hidden gem amidst residential area. Friendly service and fresh baked offerings do not disappoint. Eclectic atmosphere with some real food. Not your skinny Minnie fare. Fresh baked scones - innovative pistachio and cherry - dry, the way scones should be, easily remedied with a pat of butter. Delicious quiche - ham and red pepper, pepper and cheese - so light, but satisfyingly filling. Breakfast peanut butter bun, a twist on a cinnamon roll, was decadent, as was the carrot walnut loaf. Generous servings. And let's not forget the coffee. So rich and perfectly brewed. Definitely worth searching for...and finding!

We came here based on the Yelp reviews. I am so glad we came here! The cafe itself is soo spacious! There is a deeper area beyond the entrance and milk/sugar station. This cafe has a very homey, cafe-like feel. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular here in a heartbeat! I ordered a spinach, leek, & feta quiche. It was a decent portion and so tasty! I wish it was a bit warmer, but nonetheless, it was still delicious! I love quiche because it's a great way to consume some veggies! Their coffee is also pretty good! I really enjoyed my experience here! The staff was also super friendly!

We stopped here on our drive back to Havertown from Towanda, PA. It is a cute place with more space than you first see when you walk in. The service was quick and friendly. The lunch menu had two quiche options, two soups, two salads and two sandwiches. There were several coffee's to choose from and multiple baked goods, with gluten free options spread across the counter. The four of us left very full and happy. This is a great little spot.

Moving to Scranton from Miami has been a bit of a drag food-wise, but little gems like Zummo's have become a regular staple in my life. Let's talk about the food first. They're cafe menu is cantina style with at least one soup, two quiches, two sandwiches and a salad new everyday plus a regular assortment of scones, muffins, biscotti, bread pudding and sweet danishes. The regular items on the menu include are the chicken salad pita and the scones/muffins/biscotti and they are regular items for good reason. The quiches are also out of this world and a generous size is always given. I've often brought a quiche back home to my family over the holidays and even the TSA airport security always joke about snagging a piece. They also boast a wide variety of gluten-free options which can vary daily, so make sure to check out they're Facebook page for updates everyday. Of note, they actually get they're bagels shipped from New Jersey every morning instead of from National Bakery like the rest of Scranton and it definitely makes a difference. They're my boyfriend's favorite bagel in Scranton. And who can forget they're renowned chocolate chip cookies who have won best cookie in town by the local paper. During the holidays, they sell the dry mix themselves with instructions for the wet ingredients and I always try to mail my family a big jar of it. The coffee and tea selection is also great. Coffee is provided by the local roasting company Electric City and you can buy by the pound if you'd like. The menu is chalk written on a large blackboard which describes the highlights and tones of each specific coffee. You can elect to have a cup of their house which is already brewed and in a thermos, or you can try a specialty which is brewed fresh per order. The teas have a wide variety (my personal favorite is the citron green tea) and they even have a seasonal tea which is often combined with an herb from their personal garden. They also have their version of a frapaccino called a Zummie which is great for those hot summer days. Also available on the menu is a handful of fruit smoothies, however I have never tried one. It's also just a great space in general to hang out and chat with friends or hook up your computer and study. When the weather is nice, the put out chairs in their lawn so you can enjoy and bask in the summer sun. The baristas and bakers are just phenomenal and always are happy to help. They're very knowledgeable, and if you become a regular customer, they let you open a tab so you can just pay later if you forgot some cash! This comes especially handy if you just want a tea/coffee and all you have on you is a card as the card minimum is $5. TLDR; overall, highly recommend with very few negatives.

Was in town for the night and came across Zummo's. Ordered a coffee, turkey tomato quiche and a Cinnabon. The quiche was really delicious! Highly suggest. However I was disappointed by the Cinnabon, it was quite small which is unusual for a Cinnabon. I am also not a big fan of peanut butter and the Cinnabon I was given had a lot of peanut butter on it since it was on the same platter as the peanut butter Cinnabons. Nice vibe though, not sure if I would return.

Amazing place! Mixed berry scone, Zummo's oatmeal and Loyalty blend coffee. They had soy or almond milk for vegan options. Hallelujah, they brew with Chemex. Very impressed. Great hang out space!

Cute, authentic cafe with decent fresh and homemade eats. The place had great potential but I feel like my mom and I arrived too early to properly enjoy the establishment. My mom and I were making a trip down to Harrisburg super early in the morning on a Saturday. We ended up arriving right when Zummo's opened at 6:30am. I was in desperate need for a coffee after waking up at 4am so I was looking forward to their various selections. After researching breakfast/coffee places in Scranton, I was excited to try this local business. I was surprised by the number of people there for the time and it still being dark outside. Upon walking in, the baked items looked delicious. Especially the glazed smothered cinnamon buns. Going up to order, the only person manning the place was the cook. Apparently the barista wasn't coming in until 7am. I really wanted a Irish Creme Latte in honor of St. Patrick's Day coming up but the chef did not know how to make it so I would have had to wait until 7 to get it... I didn't hold this against them since I saw a help wanted sign and figured they were understaffed. My mom and I each ended up with a Chai Tea Latte, which I thought was very good. It had a nice balance of sweetness and spice. My mom and I decided to try their ham, tomato and cheese quiche and a raspberry scone to split. The quiche, unfortunately, was cold even though it was freshly made by the cook. I wish it was heated up a little but the I felt bad with how much the woman was rushing to be too concerned with it. It had great flavor though with plenty of ham and tomatoes and it was a decent size slice for about $5. You could tell with the scone that the raspberries were fresh and the taste of it was delicious. Although, the bottom was burnt which ruined it a little, it turned out fine. Overall, I think this place had great potential and I hope to give it another chance in the future. The place itself was cute and homey with friendly staff.

Top quality coffee. Hit Zummo's as we passed through Scranton. We were looking for lunch and coffee, it was a Sunday, and Zummo's came to the rescue. Great coffee, great baked goods, and excellent sandwiches. We did the beet burgers, which were very good, and the chicken sandwich, also good. Coffee was strong and well done. Will become a stopover on our fairly normal trips through Scranton.

Lovely little coffee shop that was well worth the detour on our way from Syracuse to NYC. It has a cute college-town vibe, with plenty of little tables to work or chat. We had an enormous bowl of hearty soup, delicious coffee, and "probably the best chai latte I've ever had", according to my wife.

The space here was probably my favorite part of this place. Initially, it seems like a small, cute cafe and as you walk toward the back it opens up into another huge room! While we were here another customer told us he loves the cafe in winter because it feels like a ski lodge. I can totally see where this would be the perfect spot to spend a cozy winter day. The coffee was decent and they offer pour overs as well as regular drip. And the peanut butter rolls. Oh the peanut butter rolls. Take my word and get one. Or a few, you'll probably want more than one. We also tried an eggplant and vegetable quiche that was tasty and filling. The girls working here were not overly friendly when we stopped in, but it was also really busy and they seemed to know and acknowledge a lot of the other customers in line.

Don't even bother!!!! The place has obviously gone downhill from the reviews I have read on here. The girl behind the counter was beyond rude to my elderly mother & family. We all had the chicken salad & all 4 of us got sick - and it was the only thing we ate all day (since we were traveling). As we were finishing up our meal, the same girl came 15 feet from our table and shouted "closing" at us. It was 2:05pm - they stopped serving at 2pm. Skip the food, the bitchy counter help & do yourself a favor and keep driving!!!

Since they've changed the business I have seen a difference in this place. It has improved 10 fold, and they actually take care of their customers. Food and coffee is still great, never tasted anything bad there yet. They have longer hours on the weekend too!

Where do I even begin? You walk in and instantly cannot believe the menu of coffee selections as well as the mouth watering baked goods. The place is huge and I am a fanatic of outdoor seating. I have found a new place for coffee because the coffee is AMAZING. I am not a big fan of chain restaurants or coffee places and I love to get a real cup of coffee. And the scones are HUGE and filling! Please go here! Everything is a must try! You will not be disappointed!!

After moving to Scranton from San Francisco, I was in need for a good brew. The Cloverleaf coffee options here are good and I enjoy the rotating blends which are handpicked by the owner. The quiche is also to die for and if you're lucky they won't sell out before you get there:) The staff is hit or miss and can sometimes make for what feels like an unwelcoming experience. Otherwise, I think you'll enjoy this cup of coffee.

Coffee is better than most in a city that is surprisingly full of great non chain bold coffee options, so that's impressive. Their soups are great. Everything I've tried with the exception of a bland quiche has been delicious. It gets really hectic on weekends and the place is too small to handle the business they get (which is a good and bad thing I suppose). They have local souvenirs for sale too. Service is the normal average NEPA attitude which takes some getting used to if your not from the area. Overall pretty neat place.

Why does Scranton get to have a place like Zummo's while we in Albany have to suffer without great coffee? I drove three hours to get here, and I made sure in my couple hour visit at the cafe to try as many things as realistically possible without suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. That put me at three cups of brewed coffee from their Clover machine, an espresso, and a salad. I would have enjoyed one of their chicken salad sandwiches, but they ran out of them before my lunch date arrived. Sad. But that's the price to pay for fresh food. I love love love the small batch roasted single source beans that are individually ground and brewed to order. I love love love that those same beans (at least on the day I was there) were used for espresso. I love love love that there is a cupping bar with the coffee aroma wheel on display. I love love love that this is in an old cobbler's shop, and looks like somebody's house. Honestly, this cafe doesn't quite reach the same peaks of the best coffee houses of larger cities. But dammit it is amazing that a city as small as Scranton has a place that is as good as this. Looking forward to my next three hour drive down here.

This is the best coffee shop in Scranton, as well as anywhere I've been. Seriously. I've been known to visit twice a day for several years. Menu items for lunch are daily specials - a soup, a quiche, a salad, a sandwich and though chicken salad is always on the menu, the bread it's on rotates daily between wrap, pita, multigrain pita, roll, croissant, etc. Baked goods are delicious and a selection of biscotti, cookies, muffins, scones, pound cake and bread pudding are almost always available. Occasionally a pie or cake is also offered. You never know what delectable items might be waiting for you, so it is best to go early and often. And of course, the coffee... simply the best coffee I've ever had the pleasure of sipping. There is always at least one truly outstanding bean on the Clover menu. (Clover is a small batch brewing system wherein coffee is produced from freshly ground beans and brewed in a matter of a minute). The house coffee is exceptional as well, and all other drinks available are top notch.

This is the best coffee I've had in Pennsylvania. In fact, it rivals (or is even better than) the coffee from the best independently owned Seattle coffee houses. I've been to Seattle twice, which deserves its reputation as the "coffee capital" of the U.S.--not at all because it's the birthplace of Starbucks, but because of the amazing independent coffee roasters. Seattle coffee is top notch.....as is Zummo's. I was overjoyed to find not only a quality local coffee roaster, but a fantastic cup of coffee within a 15 minute drive of my home. Zummo's brews coffee the way it was meant to taste. They take coffee seriously here and it shows. Zummo's lacks any of the pretentiousness and inaccessibility that coffee newbies might find in other cafes, too. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and the entire atmosphere to be very laid back...like a great coffeeshop should be. Another advantage is that the sandwiches are out of this world, especially the celebrated chicken salad pita...which thankfully is right there on the regular menu. They even make their own mozzarella on the premises. In addition to Mansour's Market and Anthology Bookstore, this is a great place to stop for lunch....but the coffee is what puts Zummo's in the category of THE place to go for lunch in the Scranton area. Numerous types of baked goods, a variety of Electric City Roasting Company beans for purchase, amazing coffee...if you're in the area, don't miss it.

I was between a 3 and 4 stars, but I'm in a generous mood, so... A friend and I thought it might be fun to make a day trip to Scranton, and found Zummo's through Yelp. Having read the previous reviews, I kinda assumed that it would be some kind of a "coffee nirvana." Well the environment is nice and cozy (I think while we were there, every single person who walked in knew somebody in the coffeehouse). The baristas were helpful, and were nice enough to allow my friend to get a small sample of their house best. We both got cappucinos, which were great, but nothing extraordinary, to be honest. We also ordered some bread pudding to share, which really was more like coffee crumb cake than bread pudding. It was yummy either way. Because the coffee didn't quite knock our socks off, we opted not to purchase any coffee roasts for home. But it was a great place, nonetheless. This definitely seems to be a town's favorite.

Exactly as advertised: Clean, friendly, brisk service and top-notch food. The chicken salad pita (we had it grilled, per recommendation) was terrific, and the avocado/lettuce/cucumber/feta on a baguette wasn't bad either. Water came in a great big glass -- SO much nicer than the stupid paper Dixie cup that makes you feel like a child for wanting tap water. Chocolate-chip cookie was solid too. We didn't try the peach-and-cream-cheese crepes, but they looked delicious.

I grew up in the country but I am a devoted city mouse these days, and going to Dickson for a wedding felt akin to camping. The stress of the event left me needing a reliable cup of coffee and some food before the ceremony, and Yelp recommended Zummos in Scranton. The area is beautiful! The parking was streetside but easy enough to manage, and the building was quaint and homey. I already liked it. Then I saw they only had one sandwich: the chicken salad pita. If you're going to only offer one thing then it better be good and this was FANTASTIC (I recommend getting it toasted). They also helped me choose a coffee from their Clover selection and it was the balm I needed. Mellow and smooth, even myy coffee-hating husband could appreciate it (and I drink my coffee black!) Zummo's is the place to go for a taste of craftsmanship.

Zummo's offers a creative, fresh menu full of healthy and/or indulgent selections. The chicken salad pita is a constant on the menu and is a consistently delicious lunch option. The quiche is outstanding. The filling varies each day, but it is always fluffy and flavorful, surrounded by a flaky crust. The bread pudding is the best I have ever had. It is made with various pastries so each bite is a delicious surprise, not to mention the portion is HUGE. Zummo's is definitely one of my favorite spots in Scranton.

As a former Batista Extraordinare and coffee lover, I can't believe I just discovered Zummo's. The coffee's phenomenal and the atmosphere is great. It's my favorite place to take a time-out during my work day. They also have candy and treats (i.e. plastic baggies of Sweedish Fish and a big chocolate chip cookie jar near the register), so it's a win-win. Their coffee is PERFECT in a French press.

First, I'd like it to be known that this place is home to possibly the best cup of coffee in NEPA. And! Whenever I've been, the staff has been nothing but wonderful and the food has been great. But! I have to hold back on the fifth star because there is something about the atmosphere that I've found to be unsettling. (I'm not talking about ghosts. I think people who believe in ghosts are silly, and those who claim to have seen ghosts should be avoided at all costs because they just might be crazy-silly, or silly-crazy...crazy is the key component here. Noted?) Anyway, I'm not sure if it's the seating, decor, or general layout, but I've never been able to reach the level of comfort needed to hang out in a cafe for hours on end, BSing with friends, or reading, or do whatever the new cool thing it is to do in a cafe. Ah...to think back on all the really bad/embarrassing poetry I could have written if I could have just found the right chair, at the right table, pushed up against the right wall plastered with the right wallpaper, showing just the right amount of scuffs, scrapes, and peels on its surface....nightmarish.

About a year ago Clover sold their state-of-the-art coffee brewing machine to Starbucks. Until that point, only around 150 of the brewing systems were sold worldwide to cafes and coffee enthusiasts - Zummo's Cafe owns one of them. For this reason, Zummo's is on the coffee map. Zummo's sells coffee roasted by their sister company, Electric City Roasting. Every week Zummo's offers about six or seven different coffees to be brewed via Clover. Do yourself a favor and TRY CLOVER COFFEE. It may, very well, change your life - even if you don't drink coffee. The Clover coffee system brews coffee like nothing else. They also offer typical espresso and desert drinks as well as a great breakfast and lunch menu. Most everything at Zummo's is homemade, and, boy, can you taste it. Safe go-to's are the chicken salad wrap (has cranberries) and the breakfast sandwich. Make sure to see what homemade soup is offered that day - it's a good size for your money and is usually very tasty. Zummo's cares very much about coffee - ask if any coffee cuppings are being offered soon. They normally hold free cuppings once a week.

really cool place. it's spacious and has a nice open feel. The coffee is very good. It's brewed by Zummo's own roasting company (electric city roasters). They brew various coffee on the Clover Machine! There are some really passionate baristas here too.

Zummo's is serious about coffee without being snobs about it. It's amazing that the staff and owner of the best coffee shop in town are still some of the friendliest. It's a real treat to have a Clover press and well-roasted coffee in Scranton!

splendid. great coffee, some food options, large space, and plenty of tables to get some work done. can't believe this place has been here since 2004, and i've never been here. i don't get to scranton often, but when I do, this place will be on my list of places to go!

I absolutely love Zummo's! I've never had the chance to sit inside and leisurely enjoy my coffee (always get takeout) but the atmosphere in there is so adorable and inviting. The coffee is awesome, with lots of great options. The food is always amazing. They frequently have a chicken salad pita sandwich on the menu and it is so delicious! I've had their other sandwiches here and there and they are equally great, especially after toasted on a panini press. Each day they have a small assortment of salads, soups, quiche, and sandwiches on the menu. Everything always looks fresh and beautiful in presentation. There are also healthy packaged snacks and drinks, as well as a huge selection of candy. The only downside to this place is the price, though I would say it is just about the same as Starbucks. I'm fine with paying a little bit more for excellent, fresh food and coffee. The baristas are friendly and helpful, though the service tends to be a bit slow when they get busy. I think the speed might have something to do with them brewing each cup? Either way, totally worth the wait. They close at 6 during the week, which is unfortunate because If they were open all night I would probably just live there to study.
