Four stars just for the decor and setting. Very well restored portion of the Lackawanna Railroad's former headquarters with tasteful colors, period decor and comfortable seating. Food was decent with $1 tacos and various fixings for happy hour and a pretty good selection of draft and bottled beer. Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly.

Came here for dinner martinis were great and food cooked to perfection.

Nice bar and lounge. We ordered sandwiches which were good. Big bar inside. Nice upscale couples vibe. Nice outside patio off the bar has waiter service for drinks or food. A nice place to hang out. Kildare's Irish pub right across street.

I can't speak for the food because I've never eaten here but it's a perfect (historical) spot for a drink. There's an oval shaped bar, which I like and the bartender Rich is a walking historian so we enjoyed a nice conversation with him about the history of the area. There's an outdoor patio which overlooks a busy corner of Scranton and is just a few blocks away from Steamtown. I agree with the reviewers who said maybe this place isn't living up to its full potential... However, for us from out of town who occasionally visit/pass through Scranton, Trax is one of the few solid places to stop for a decent glass of wine so it works perfectly for us ;)

This place has so much potential, and just continually is disappointing. The bar service is hit or miss, and the food takes FOREVER. I've had a few martinis that were okay but the cons outweigh the pros unfortunately. *Update: I met up with a friend here following my initial review. I arrived before he did. I am very finicky about food and drink, and as such I ordered my dirty gin martini with very specific pointers as to ensure that I would get what I really wanted (extra olive juice and in-and- out on the vermouth, as I find it a bit soapy when there is more than that). In the meantime the bartender insisted on my sitting by the only other patrons at the bar (two older men), which I was clearly disinterested in. My martini arrived, light on the olive juice and heavy on the vermouth. I felt as if my requests were not only disregarded, but like there was no consideration for what I wanted that evening. Overall it was an unpleasant experience and I would recommend going elsewhere.

Stopped in for drinks, and it fit the bill nicely. They have Guinness on tap, pleasant bartenders and the decor is a step back in time. They don't push their food much so I suspect it's mainly a drink spot, so thus the rating.

Located in the Radisson Hotel, a landmark train station in downtown Scranton, is this bat/restaurant that hosts a small portion of the Scranton Nightlife for the "out of their twenties" demographic. Usually not the first choice for the youth clubbers of the local colleges. Trax has a historic decor and plentiful room with an outdoor patio overlooking the busy Lackawanna ave, and the ehh Kildares bar and restaurant across the street. Not my first choice in views but when wanting to eat outdoors this will pass. The food is not anything to seek out for and their beer selection is very limited. An average bar restaurant that does not live up to the historic decor and potential it has.

Hunting around for a kitchen open after 11pm led me here. Kind of a mistake. Friday nights used to be "their" night, particularly for happy hour, but it seems the Radisson has been in decline under its current ownership. There were fewer than ten people upon arrival, which dwindled quickly. Last call was around midnight. The reason for my downgrade is the bowl of chili I ordered. The crock was undersized, perhaps 12 ounces. More than a cup, less than a bowl, priced at $6. That would have been acceptable had it not tasted as if it was mostly ketchup. My companion had the almond cranberry chicken salad wrap, which appeared to be on the small side - I was told it was a little dry. It was served with seasoned fries, some of which had so much seasoning that they felt fuzzy. Feeling peckish later in the evening? Skip Trax.

My boyfriend and I were passing through Scranton and chose to hang out at Trax for the night, letting all of our friends know we would be available to join us should they have the time. I let our waitress Maureen know that people would be coming in & out, separate checks galore and that we'd be there for hours. She was professional, charming and made thoughtful delicious menu suggestions that worked well for a group to share. She was an all around rock star and Trax hit it out of the park. I have nothing but nice things to say about this place and our wonderful server Maureen. Next time we are in town we will definitely be back.

We decided to venture over to Trax tonight. I am pleased to report that there has been a radical change in service. There was a greeter at the door (which I have never seen in all of my years of frequenting this establishment) so we were seated quickly. Moreover, there was a myriad of servers (three servers and one in-training who was shadowing a another server). We were waited-on very quickly and professionally (she even listed-off the specials for the day). Our appetizer, fried perogies, arrived in an appropriate amount of time. And, when I asked for sour-cream or applesauce to dip them in, that too was rapidly provided. Management visited our table and inquired about our experience ... this shows that they are truly changing and genuinely care about their customers. Moreover, the place was positively tidy. Not a paper on the floor, not a smudge on the table. What a welcome change! Now, the food remains as wildly inconsistent as always (we ordered the same meals the last three times that we visited and we provided those pictures). You will see that each rodeo burger is incredible different from each other. Ditto for the cheese and heirloom tomato sandwich. This visit was the worst experience for this sandwich, by far. As you can see, it is coated in a balsamic reduction (which is nowhere in the description and I have never seen before here). I could smell the vinegar long before the plate was placed in front of me. It was impossible to pick up ... my hands looked like they were coated in motor-oil. And, the taste was simply overwhelmingly "vinegar-y." Yuck. I tried to scrape it off. (It was so thick!) But, it just spread across the sandwich. A fine-tipped drizzle for aesthetic reasons might have been acceptable (I would prefer none), but this was unbearable. That sandwich was tossed and I returned to the leftover perogies ... which were fabulous. AND, my boyfriend LOVED his rodeo burger! And the freshly made potato chips were pretty close to awesome (just a touch over-seasoned ... but I would rather over than under). As always, my boyfriend's plate was cleared after he finished his burger ... even though he was still eating his potato chips. (This has happened every single time we have ever been here). Since I would not be eating my sandwich, I removed the bag from the plate and set it in the middle of the table. This bag would not be taken so easily! Haa! Here's the bottom line: if management has made such a substantial change with their servers, if management has insisted upon a spotless environment, if our experience was this much better this time, we believe the food will soon follow. Have faith, my friends ... it seems that Trax is on it way back to its old glory!

On valentines day my boyfriend and I ventured over to check Trax out. We had never been here prior. We found ourselves a seat at the bar and ordered our first round. My boy a beer and I a Melbec. It was outrageously over priced and the wine tasted as though it was gone bad. We browsed over the menu to find something we could share. We decided on the boneless wings but unfortunately we never got to try them. By the time the bartender decided to come over (an hour of looking at the menu and trying to flag her down) the kitchen was closed. At this point having gone a good half hour with out a refill I wanted to leave. However, we stayed for one more. I ordered a blue moon which ended up being a coors with a orange wedge. How does one mess this up?! We tried getting her attention till finally she came over just to tell us it was last call. When I told her of her mistake she wouldn't pour me what I actually ordered. They started closing down at 1:47am with a full bar still. I don't recommend going to Trax, especially if you're younger.

My family eats here quite frequently and begged me to go for weeks. I started by ordering water and the shrimp cocktail. I believe it cost $12. During the long wait for the shrimp (which was excusable since they were steamed), I noticed that our server was going in and out of the side door with orders for other patrons. From years past, I remember Trax having a dedicated kitchen; it was clearly not in use if it still exists. After a few sips I also realized that my tap water tasted like dirt. The plate arrived with 5 small shrimp on it that weren't anything special and cocktail sauce that had to be right out of a can. For the price, it was a comical portion. We waited between 40 and 50 additional minutes for our angus burgers to come out. I ordered mine medium rare, and the person accompanying me ordered her's well done "but not charred". Mine looked large and tasty but it came out well done so it had absolutely no flavor. It was edible. The person joining me for lunch was served a burger that looked "like a piece of charcoal". She wasn't able to finish it. The lettuce was also limp and not in a suitable condition to be served. I was hoping to move Trax into my summer rotation but I suppose I'll have to try again next year. The waitress and manager, who we spoke with briefly, couldn't have been nicer. It was just a bad experience and is certainly not worth the risk due to how expensive it is.

My wife and I tried to dine at Trax while we were staying at the hotel. But it seems the staff wasn't interested in working that night. We sat ourselves in the bar room, then proceeded to wait 45 minutes without even a glance, water, or menu from the staff...ten minutes later nothing! So, I went to speak with the manager and none were on shift to handle this. We went back to our room and ordered room service. The staff was very polite but the food was nothing more than microwaved Tyson chicken and a Sara Lee slice of pie but it came to $50+ So save your money, the hotel is a nice place to visit for the sights, but DO NOT STAY OR EAT HERE!

EXPENSIVE. Everything here is overpriced. It's not that anything is bad, it's just not worth it. Go somewhere else and save yourself money for the same quality.

I have to agree with Vince G. and Colin P. here. I am here in Scranton on business. I staying at the Radisson which is the hotel that Trax is a part of. The food is good yet the service leaves a LOT to be desired. I am moving my business to the Hilton across the street. The restaurant like the hotel has tremendous potential and that is where it seems to stay.....It's too bad. This is a gold mine of an opportunity. If you are in Scranton on business. Value your time because they don't.

Overpriced, tiny portions. They got rid of the best thing on their menu, so don't come here if you're craving wings. Music sucks and the selection of beers is lacking. This place has gone downhill over the years.

Im from CA and sometimes stop here during my visits to PA. I like the ambiance jere but the issue for me seems to be the consistency with food and drinks here. Sometimes the food is presented well and tastes great. Other times....not. Same with drinks. Too heavy of a pour on rum and cokes. Its a typical hotel bar, but like I said, if they fix the consistency issues we will have a winner here. Ill give it another try. Just OK for my experiences here.

Came in during a recent snow storm, a quick walk from the Hilton across the street. This was a good find, light, seasonal food presented as a reasonably sized portion. The service was fantastic. The decor is very nice, very historic. It was a good find and I will likely return before we fly out.
