Had a terribly disappointing and over-priced dinner here. I would find it very hard to return. For starters, with reservations and an empty restaurant we were given a bad table by bathroom walkway. Next a janitor type worker wheeled past us pushing a broom and a bucket. Sure if you have a spill, clean it up, but please mop the floors prior to opening. Our waitress was very chatty with the males in my party and dismissive and rude towards me. This was definitely not the $$$$ classy restaurant experience I had anticipated. The food was very average. We ordered the filets, a signature dish, and again, I was given the small portion comparatively and the steak was a slight notch above what I would get at Ruby Tuesdays. There was nothing special about the sides, all just average at best. I was really shocked having eaten at high quality steak houses all over the US. I almost forgot to mention the incredibly loud live music that started playing about five feet away from us when our food was served. Again, the restaurant was close to empty and they sat us right in front of their keyboard player. I was not the only one displeased. We watched them try to seat another table near the music and they refused and insisted being as far away as possible. I was so excited to try this restaurant finally and could not have been more disappointed. They must be surviving on business lunches and people who don't know any better. I'd take AV or Posh over this place every meal of the week. Before posting this review, I checked in with others who have eaten here and all echoed my experience. None of them are YELPERS so I am stepping up to get the feedback out there. I would LOVE for this place to turn around as I want them to succeed, but until they work on what they are offering they are in a risky spot in this economy.

I've only come here for lunches. Their food is good. The prices aren't really that bad. I'd put them at more of a $$ than $$$. It's not as uptight as one might think.

Consistently the best restaurant in the area by far. We drive down from Binghamton NY at least once a week, and the drive is well worth it. Aside from the exceptional food, the owner and staff are pleasant and provide excellent service. I have to order a garden salad each visit because the vegetables are so fresh and high quality that it is so delicious I barely need dressing. The salmon (broiled) is always perfectly prepared and moist, and the filet mignon is the best I've ever had. We also have to order the lumb crab cocktail each visit. The huge fresh pieces of lump crab are to die for. This place is streamlined and run well! Definitely recomend!

We had the most amazing Sunday Brunch. We were greeted by the owner, served by an amazing waiter, sat at an immaculate table in a sun-filled room with high ceilings and enjoyed the food and experience. It is only one block from the Cathedral so was a lovely seque from Sunday Brunch to the rest of our day as tourists.

Now that our daughter is going to college in Scranton we need to find some good restaurants in the area for our weekend visits. Von Lugers seems to top most reviews so we gave it a try. Parking was a bit tough with a festival going on across the street. We parked in the creepy parking next door for 5 dollars. With a reservation we were seated promptly. Decor was a bit usual with the light colored wood and orange chairs more fitting a breakfast place. However everything else was quite great. Drinks were surprisingly good and inexpensive. I started with the wedge salad, which was a fantastic example of this steakhouse classic. Our table ordered fish, chicken, and a prime bone in ribeye. Steak was pretty awesome. Fish was also excellent. Chicken Marsala was good but not the best we ever had. Our waiter was excellent and very informative. In a city of seemingly endless family owned pizza place Lugers stands out.
(4)Ash K.
Food is mediocre and I had a hair tossed up in my salad w/ salmon.. Someone in the kitchen was clearly wearing their hair down, because it was longer than mine.
(2)Garrett F.
Simply WOW. Fantastic dry aged prime cut ribeye. Loved it. Went back the next week on back to back trips. Great staff too!

I had the best steak I've ever eaten at Carl Von Luger. I got the bone-in steak (posted picture above). I didn't really enjoy the sauce I ordered with it, but the steak didn't need a sauce. It was very tender, juicy, and just the right amount of seasoning. The scallops were good, but nothing extra special. The bacon slab is definitely worth trying.

I understand neither the prices they charge nor their high rating on Yelp. As hard as it is to find good restaurant in Scranton, and as low as the bar falls as a result, it is meaningful that I will never return to this steakhouse/seafood restaurant. Food: We got a salad and clams, which were both about average for a nice steakhouse. The steak, however, was something that I would expect from Applebee's. I ordered their 14 oz filet medium, and when it arrived it was halfway between medium well and well done, which results in a very dry interior. Saying there was a HINT of pink is about accurate. The outside was very grizzled, lacked decent flavor beyond a charred tint. Also, what type of self-respecting steakhouse even considers, let alone strongly promoted, the lathering of eat steak in a homemade cocktail sauce-style steakhouse? For $47, I consider this an affront to steakhouses everywhere. The green beans were excellent though! Service: The service was a travesty. Our waitress clearly was not trying to serve our needs in anyway, or pay attention to us in general. I downed my water glass as soon as I arrived, and it took at least 30 minutes for her to notice, and another 20 to actually get it refilled (this repeated once more before we paid out check, still thirsty). The drink problem didn't stop there - the waitress must have misheard my very clear order for "only one red sangria," as when she came back with two glasses, we had to have a firm argument with her to have her take the extra one away. I ended up getting a martini, and it was excellent. I am fairly certain that they did not start cooking out steaks until after they had cleared out salad plates (which was 15 minutes after we finished eating them), because it took them exactly 27 minutes to bring the main course after that time. This is only a snapshot of the shoddy service that we received which dining at a supposedly upscale locale without a large crowd to explain the lack of service. Oh, and when I asked the waitress if our steak was cooked medium, she looked at it, said "yeah," and walked away. At a respectable establishment, such a question requires response of, "would you like me to bring you out a new one (sir)?" I was definitely not offered a new one, or anything additional service until she cleared out plates after we'd twitted our thumbs for another 10 minutes. Ambiance: This is definitely this place's only saving grace. We went on a Friday night, and there was a nice live jazz band playing about 30 feet away from the outside patio.

It's expensive but you get what you pay for. Filet was fantastic and the drinks were stiff. It was pouring when we finished dinner and no cabs were around so Bob, the owner, was kind enough to take us the few blocks home to keep dry. Great time. I will be back.
(5)Mandy B.
Food is great - it's definitely pricey, but you do get what you pay for in terms of quality. Service has been pretty good consistently - I've eaten there a bunch of times with no problem. My favorite time to go is for Sunday Brunch. The pricing is much cheaper than their regular menu, the portions are perfect, and the food is excellent. They've also been known to have a few musicians come to play during brunch, which is nice.

Great Uncle Peter's Steakhouse in Clarks Summit, PA. is now Carl Von Luger Steakhouse in Scranton, PA. I have enjoyed many dining experiences at Uncle Peter's and was excited about trying their new Scranton location. Well, the best way I could describe the new restaurant would be, "A Disgraceful Mad Grab For Cash". The prices remained the same as the old location, but the portion is smaller. The Bone-in Rib Steak($46)went from 26 ounce to 22 ounce. Everything is now À la carte. Old location included choice of soup or salad, potato and vegetable(which were served family style). Now you get NOTHING! Salads go from $5 - $8, single servings of potato and vegetable are $4 each. The staff is poorly trained with most having no business in what is supposed to be a "high end" restaurant. Also, my seat afforded me a view of the kitchen. It wasn't very reassuring to see the staff playing all kinds of reindeer games. I went with the clam casino appetizer($8.50). What I got was six little neck stuffed clams(not casino), served on a dish filled with orange grease. I mentioned to the waitress that it didn't look very good, she walked away. They were as bad as they looked. My wife and I decided to split the salad special($10.50), served with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. The salad arrived with a pinkish dressing. I asked if there was mayo in the dressing, the waitress checked with the kitchen and said yes. I told them I was allergic to mayo, and mayo is NEVER added to a vinaigrette(words means things). With three members of the waitstaff at our table, they offered to take the salad back and pick off the leaves that had dressing on them.....I am not kidding. My wife ate the salad, I passed. Two of us ordered the bone-in rib steak. I ordered mine "medium rare", it came out "medium well". The other steak was ordered "medium", it came out "well done". We told the waitress that the temperature on the steaks was wrong, she said sorry and walked away. We ate our steaks, knowing we would never return again. But the icing on the cake was when the owners daughter came to the table and said, "I understand your steaks weren't prepared properly, let me offer you a $5 coupon for you next visit". Let me see, you ruin a $46 steak, you ignore me when I tell you about it and you think a coupon is going to make me feel better about the disgraceful dining experience? Not a chance!
(2)Brian L.
Good atmosphere. Food was very good, though a bit pricey. The portions are very large so share your appetizers, which can make up for the price. I had the caprese (pictured). Probably a good date place. Late afternoon was near empty except for a few business types.
(4)Donald L.
One of the best steakhouses around. We stop in whenever we are in town.
(5)Daren S.
Had the New York strip, damn good piece of meat. Sat at the bar. Smooth jazz and heavy drinks. Great combination. Band was excellent. Little overpriced for the area but great service and a great piece of meat. You will not regret it. Parking was a bitch or it would be 4.5 stars.
(4)Jennifer V.
When we moved from NYC I dreaded how I would handle not having Peter Luger's a hop skip and a jump away. As you will see, I have reviewed most of the best steakhouses in NYC and I have only given two 5 stars but when we rounded the corner after getting the family haircuts...we saw it...Carl Von Luger. We ventured in with all the children, praying it wouldn't be busy on a late Saturday afternoon and we lucked out. The babies slept our entire lunch and the place was not too crowded. Well, let me just say that I couldn't have been happier with the food. First of all they had a bigger selection and better appetizers than the Bklyn Peter Lugers. We had an oustanding crab cake, superior bacon with a dipping sauce to die for and split pea soup in case the munchkins woke up. We of course had to have the porterhouse for two to compare it and just as in the original restaurant, you can cook your meat on the side and that greasy yummy goodness is poured on the most tender, delectable steak you could dream of putting in your mouth. The creamed spinach was outstanding and the homemade dessert list which destroys the small selction of our fav NYC haunt knocked the original right out of the box. The only thing missing was the homefries, but those haven't been the same lately anyway, so I didn't miss them. The owner was there, an original member of the Luger family and he was great. He was friendly and wonderful with the kids, had puzzels and coloring books and coiuldn't have been better company. We can't wait to go back and will never have to move back to NYC!

Great steak in downtown scranton, a first!
(4)Isaque F.
I finally went in there after walking by it plenty of times. The price is on the higher end of the scale but it's def what you're paying for. i loved the veal tenderloins and if you're into pie, the pecan pie was one of the best i've had. the atmosphere of the place is great if you choose not to look out the window at old beat up scranton.

Just a terrible restaurant. Came here with family for Mother's Day and couldn't have been more disappointed. First they called an hour before to make sure we were going to use the reservation, who does that? Then we get there only to find the restaurant maybe 20% full. I'm not sure why they were concerned about us using the reservation, as only four other people came in during our excruciating dining experience. During our entire meal the waitstaff was walking back and forth with chairs and tables as they seemed to think it was an appropriate time to rearrange the seating layout. It made for one of the most distracting dining experiences I've ever encountered. In fact one of them almost hit my wife in the head with a table and just kept going as if nothing had happened. The manager seemed very concerned with the dining experience of the people he knew rather than everyone else. They seemed to be beyond clueless as to how to properly run a restaurant. The food was just ok, really nothing special at all. In fact I would go as far to say that a diner would be comparable(note: we did not get steak). They had a no substitution rule which I totally get on busy holidays, but the restaurant wasn't even that crowded. My wife asked to substitute the horseradish mashed potatoes for regular mashed potatoes which were offered on the menu as a side. We were told that she would have to order the $3 side of mashed potatoes if she wanted them. All this did was prompt her to order a $13 meal instead of the $32 meal all because they wouldn't substitute the potatoes. They should really be smarter and realize the revenue that was lost on our table. All in all a very disappointing meal and honestly not worth the price.

This place is excellent. I had French onion soup to start which was perfectly seasoned with a lot of well caramelized delicious cheese on top. My mistake was a 14 ounce New York strip, dry aged, and it was cooked to perfection. It was well caramelize on the outside very juicy and flavorful on the inside, it was the best steak I've had in a long long time. I would say that it is on par with a copper grill or even better than a Ruth's Chris steak. I also had sautéed mushrooms and sweet potato fries to accompany my meal and they were both very delicious as well their beer selection was excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only complaint is the 1930s jazz piano that they had playing in the background, though that does match the ambience that they're going for in that restaurant, it's not my favorite.
(4)Ed R.
Not too familiar with its history but this is a great find in NEPA. A little pricey but high quality steak and service
(4)Sha P.
This was the second time we tried this place and were disappointed. First of all the the host was rude walking us in. He silently motioned us to follow him without a word. We are seated and There are 4 other tables in the dining room, one was getting ready to leave. There was a red lipstick mark on my menu. I guess there were running out of menus and had to give me the gross dirty one. The bigs tables of 8 and 4 got a lot of attention from the wait staff. The two servers walked in 4 or 5 times and asked them if everything was ok and if they needed anything. We made eye contact with the servers but none of them came to our table to even take our drink orders. After 15-20 minutes of being ignored by the servers we got up to leave. The woman at the table next to us( an older couple) sees us leaving and says: I totally understand, we've been waiting for a long time and no one acknowledges us. That's it for us. Never going back. Food is not that great anyway.
(1)Marisa M.
The oysters are fantastic! In my opinion, the freshest in the area. I got the open faced turkey for my lunch, it was just ok. My husband got the steak sandwich with horseradish sauce which was excellent. Service was fantastic, very friendly!! Love the retro decor!
(4)Nicolas D.
Right from the second we walked in until we left we had an amazing experience at this establishment. The food was delicious (the 8 oz filet mignon melted in my mouth), the carrot ginger soup was light and very good, we shared the bacon appetizer as well as the sushi grade sesame crusted tuna. My friends shared the salmon and raved about its freshness and taste. I don't want to overshadow the main courses, but the star of the night was the chocolate peanut butter pie.... I wish I had time to take a photo but we loved it so much, we just couldn't wait. All desserts are made in house, the proprietor came around and chatted with us a bit and told us about the place. On Friday nights they have live music in the place, and so the atmosphere I'm sure is lovely. This place is not to be missed for seafood/steak lovers. One of the finer gems in Scranton, PA. Enjoy a meal here and then walk to the Cultural center to catch a Broadway show. That sounds like an amazing evening to me!
(5)Nicole J.
Rude staff, hit or miss food and lackluster ambiance. I was dining every 2 weeks or more bc there are so few options downtown. The service got so bad that i couldn't take it anymore. They're also clearly playing off the name "Lugers".. The only thing similar to Peter Luger in Brooklyn (the real Luger's) is the uniform that the staff wears.
(1)Ernie P.
Took our team of 10 to this restaurant and the service was terrific and the food was excellent. We will come here again.
(5)william t.
Was at the restaurant with big meat eaters, prime rib and a filet. I ordered the linguine with seafood. Next time I will get the meat. The linguine was undercooked and the seafood was decidedly warm but not served hot. Disappointed.
(3)Chris C.
Great food. GREAT service from Gina. All her suggestions were perfect. From the bacon app to the wine. Can't wait to go back when she is working!!
(5)Michael C.
Porterhouse rare- only way to go. The best porterhouse I've had across the US. Drive all the way from Boston!
(5)Big O.
Bobby the owner is a first class guy. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you realize that you just enjoyed one heck of a meal. The porterhouse is out of this world and consistently that way. More than I can say for my other favorite steakhouse which would be the original Peter Luger' s in Brooklyn.
(5)Gail S.
-----Sorry to say I can't rate because my husband, daughter and I tryed to get a table at5:30 tonight and we turned away but to my astonishment 3 men behind us we seated without a reservation as long as they would leave by 7!!!! Really disappointed that th

Sat outside... great time. Excellent steak. Great calamari. The dessert was really good I had some chocolate mousse crumb pie... I'm frikken stuffed.
(4)Julie F.
Great food and great service. It is affiliated with Peter Lugar's a reputable steak restaurant in New York. While it is expensive it is well worth it. However I wish they would jazz up the plates a little bit. When you order a filet, you get just that, a filet, lonely on a plate. It looks kind of sad for how much you're paying for it. However, the food is awesome. Definitely suggest the filet and the mashed potatoes!
(5)Michael B.
A finer restaurant in the heart of downtown Scranton. While it's prices see expensive I will say the steaks in which they pride themselves upon do show up and earn the reasoning behind their pride. I find it to be a suitable replacement for those not willing to pay for the name tag price associated with A Ruth Chris steakhouse. Do remember to dress beyond casual for you may get turned away at the door if not abiding by the demanded dress code.
(4)Alexander K.
We came to this steak house after finishing our competition at the Hilton nearby. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered various items, namely the porterhouse for 4. I'm not sure why it took so long to come out (30-40 minutes?), as we were only one of three tables seated at around 4 PM. However, it was cooked as requested, medium rare. The texture was excellent, and the steak didn't require excessive chewing. The crust on it was seasoned and charred well; the pieces near the edges of the porterhouse were cooked more thoroughly, but that is to be expected when cooking such a large piece of meat. The sides that came with the steak were tasty as well; this included the frites, mashed potato, creamed spinach, and mushrooms/onions. We also had the scallops; a bit pricey for 3 large scallops but they were executed magnificently. The sear was spot on, and the texture was not rubbery at all; the biggest sign that seafood has been cooked properly. Would we come here again? For sure.

I have to say you always worry when you don't know a restaurant personally. We went last night for our anniversary. I called ahead and reserved a table. I spoke with the EXTREMELY nice hostess and told her I would be having flowers delivered if she could take care of them till we got there. Once we arrived I was impressed how beautiful it was inside. The menu has a ton of selections from steak, seafood, veal, chicken and even a Vegetarian side. Martini's are Strong and on point. Appetizers are simply amazing. Our main course (steak) was top notch. The staff is what hit the home run for me! Each and everyone of the waitresses and waiters were the friendliest I have ever dealt with. I have eaten at restaurants all over. I have to honestly say this was the best steak and seafood house I have ever eaten at. If you haven't been here GO! When you do I recommend the soup sampler and pretty much any other item on the menu! Buy a bottle of steak sauce you will want more!
(5)Kevin R.
Never even ordered. We stopped in for brunch and sat at our table for 15 minutes with no server to bring us even water or coffee. We were sat in the front room and the two servers working that room asked another table, three, yes, three times how they were doing without even as much as a word to us. One of the servers even started cleaning an adjacent and empty table. Apparently, they weren't interested in our patronage. We left and as we got up, another table next to us also mentioned they had waited an unusually long time. This is the second lackluster experience I have had here, won't be returning. You have a long way to go to even keep up with the most mediocre restaurant choices in NYC. Don't advertise yourself as a comparable restaurant. Shameful even by Scranton standards.
(1)Nicole M.
Everything was great! We had a big party and order tons of appetizer and entrees . Probably had a taste of a little of everything . My salmon was delicious. From drinks to wine to apps , entrees and macchiato's I didn't know Scranton had such a good find! The only downfall was the dessert.
(4)Casey H.
Wow!!! I had an amazing meal last night. It's in an older building in downtown Scranton which means you are more than likely going to need to park on the street. Being that it was a Tuesday and after 6PM, parking was free. The waiter, Brian, quickly greeted us and took our drink orders. I had the pineapple upsidedown cake martini and it was delicious! My appetizer was the steamed clams which was cooked in white wine. Yummmy!! The star of the meal was definitely my 8 oz Filet Mignon.... which was hands down, the best piece of steak I've ever had. That's what wet dreams are made of.... haha jk. I would definitely return to try a few other items on their menu...
(5)Tim O.
The steak is always done to perfection and the service is always sufficient and polite. I've run through a lot of the appetizers including calamari, coconut shrimp, shrimp cocktail, and sesame tuna. It's all very good (especially the sesame tuna). The desserts? Don't get me started. The reason Von Luger's gets 4 stars is because it's exactly what you'd expect for the price. Nothing less, but certainly nothing more. Nothing that exceeds your expectations. Carmen's is stiff competition.
(4)Rich M.
The atmosphere is OK. The waiter we had was OK. Chairs could have been more comfortable, but OK. See where I'm going here, just OK. If you are going to charge Luger prices, you have to be better than OK. I have been eating at Peter Lugers for over 30 years. Carl Von Luger,, is in no way, shape or form, even close to Peter Luger quality. I had the filet, it was OK. The homemade potato chips were very good, my wife had the chicken francese, very good. THE LIPSTICK STAIN ON MY WATER GLASS, VERY VERY BAD. This was not a little lipstick, I could see the imprint of a entire lip!! I was a bartender on the weekends on 75th and 3rd avenue over 35 years ago. The first thing a waiter or bartender is suppose to do, before the ice goes in the glass, is hold it up towards the lights, and check the glass. Obviously they do not do that here. We will try it again, sometimes, restaurants just have a bad night. We have a meeting on Friday, in Scranton. We will try it for lunch.
(2)J W.
Nice place in Scranton that has excellent steak. I typically get the Rib-Eye. The wait staff is friendly, and nice. The food is cooked well and presentation is simple and right. We enjoy the french onion soup, cocoanut shrimp, Caesar salad, and the steaks. Dry aged from NYC Peter Luger's.
(4)Jorge F.
I absolutely enjoyed my time here! We stopped there this past Sunday at around 2:30 in the afternoon. We had made reservations a couple of days in advance and as soon as we arrived our table was waiting for us. No wait time. My nephew received a "transformer pack" with all types of fun stuff for him by the waitress (sometimes it's the little things). The staff was attentive, on point with the drinks, service was really enjoyable. Our appetizers, main course and dessert came out precisely when it should have. Everything tasted fantastic! My only complaint is not ordering the key lime pie, I had some of my brother in laws and it was one of the best I've had... The reason I put the time stamp at the start of this review is bc we didn't end up leaving till about 5:00 pm. I had no idea they closed at 3:00 until I made small talk on my way out with one of the waiters and not once did they rush out the door. In the end.. If you're in the area and looking for a good meal with good service, stop in.. You won't be disappointed
(4)Kerry H.
Best steak & seafood in Scranton PA
(5)Rich M.
Peter Luger is rolling over, not even close, overpriced, and not that great.
(2)Sara W.
I absolutely love this place! I go as often as I can afford. The steak is cooked to perfection each and every time and my water glass is always filled! The daily specials are unique and I'm always interested in trying something new! Seems to have a high turn around for employees. There are always new faces. The service is good and the food is out of this world!
(4)Courtney S.
I absolutely love everything about Carl Von Lugers, lunch , dinner, drinks - everything. You can't beat Carl Von Lugers lunch prices. For around 6-12 dollars you can have a delicious sandwich or something a little more sophisticated such as chicken francaise/ Marsala/ picatta & they're all fantastic. I went to lunch with a vegetarian and although their was no vegetarian sandwich they were more than happy to accommodate her. They came up with a delicious mozzarella/ tomato/ pepper sandwich. My favorite appetizer for dinner is the coconut shrimp. You can't go wrong with any entree. All desserts are delicious as well. My favorite martini is the raspberry lemonade. Definitely check CVL out! This business is a fantastic part of downtown Scranton!
(5)Daniel B.
3.5 stars, really. My medium rare T-bone steak was perfectly cooked and delicious (I couldn't get the Porterhouse because the minimum order is "steak for two" on the porterhouse (just like Peter Luger's in Brooklyn) . My wife had the seafood linguine and she said it was very good. Our appetizers were mixed results. The French Onion soup and bacon slab were very good but the Prince Edward Island mussels were sandy - they failed to thoroughly wash the mussels before steaming them. Our waiter was quick to mention that he would take them off the bill and he and the manager apologized. Everything else was fine and they were super friendly to our young child, which made for an overall fine dining experience. Only surprise was the price for the T-bone - over $20 more expensive than the porterhouse price per person. While they follow the Peter Luger regimen very well (cutting the steak off the bone into slices, tilting the sizzling plate table side to allow the Au Jus to drip, serving the steak table side with tongs, etc.), they're a bit pricey. We would like to return and invite some friends with us next time but feel we need to warn them of the sticker shock beforehand.

Returned two years later for Sunday brunch, still mediocre all around. Food was okay, slightly basic. Our table went unattended for a substantial amount of time, until that awkward moment when all four guests are looking at each other with empty glasses. The owner was there, on the floor, but only seemed attentive to guests he personally knew. all in all, the next time I return would only be if I become best buds with the owner, get the good treatment. haha I am sure this review will be deleted by yelp. Thanks Yelp for the unbiased treatment.

It's been a little while since I've been here. I started a review a while ago, so I'm only going to comment on what I remember about my experience. The service was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We started off with tomato, mozzarella, and red peppers drizzled with olives and balsamic dressing. Will get again when I return. We parked our car in the parking deck right around the corner. May not be able to find street parking. Just an fyi.
(5)Michael G.
Everything was good, but the steak not worth the money. Will try it again.
(3)Tanya S.
I was really impressed with this place. I'm in town for work and this is the first place I ate in when I arrived. I'm hoping that what I choose tomorrow won't disappoint.... Lol I had the filet mignon and this was one of the very few times that I didn't need A1 sauce. The sautéed string beans and garlic mashed potatoes were amazing also. The service was great and they got me out quickly so that I could make it back to work on time. If I return to work here in the future, I will definitely have dinner here again.
(5)Gene T.
Exceptional dining experience each time we have been to VonLugar's. Highly recommended.
(5)Ann H.
Best restaurant within 100 miles! Soup sampler was off the charts: carrot ginger, New England clam chowder, and French onion. Steamed clams in white wine, garlic and butter is fantastic. Absolutely the best filet we've had in several years. It was tender like butter and melted in your mouth. Server said steaks were dry aged and shipped in from New York. Another must have was the Von Luger thick bacon appetizer with a great house sauce. It was our first time there but we will be back!

This was our second trip to Von Lugers. The first time was disappointing, but we wanted to give it a second chance, sometimes it might just be a bad night. Anyway, the food was well below what we expected, and very expensive. The service was ok, but the hostess was exceptionally rude. Not sure why. The place wasn't crowded and we were pleasant to her. It's very hard to enjoy your evening when it starts out with having to deal with a classless hostess. That was our last trip to Von Luger's. We've had much better steaks at Lonestar and Texas Roadhouse. A lot less expensive and a lot friendlier.
