If you're looking for a typical American-Italian restaurant which offers a kids' menu with chicken fingers, hot dogs, frozen pizza or gluten free options, this is not the restaurant for you. I tried this place three times, each time loving the food but unsure about the environment and setup. Last night it finally dawned on me...it's a family sharing their passion and love of food with their visitors. No other employees, just a husband and wife. Those of you who are open minded and want to be embraced into the heart of a family's modest dining room and taste their amazing, passionately prepared dishes, this is the place for you! For anyone who has been abroad, or is an immigrant, you may know that in other countries the best dishes are not found in commercial restaurants, but in people's homes where century old recipes are lovingly shared with weary visitors. Restaurant Aida is a family style dining room where a couple, Zeni and Lia share their amazing dishes. This is an Albanian family who lived in Bologna, Italy for 17 years, then settled in the Philadelphia area. Chef Zeni prepares rich, simple dishes which will knock your socks off. Try the musaka, the stuffed eggplant, or the lasagna. These perfectly prepared dishes are savory, perfectly balanced and seasoned. Folks, this is robust, comfort food complemented perfectly by a big BYO glass of wine and great company. You may find that your party will become silent when diving into their selected dishes. The gnocchi are tender, melt in your mouth dumplings swimming in gorgeous, glistening sauces. The desserts are refined, European style layered marvels which are not overly sweet and go very well with that "end of dinner" cup of espresso or coffee. My entire family, including my foodie husband and 7 and 8 year old daughters wiped their plates clean with the home made rolls. Delish!

Ristorante Aida is located in the Mallard Creek Shopping Center in Richboro, Pa. It is a small shop run by a young family. The husband does the cooking, while the wife works the floor and assists in the kitchen. Bambino has a corner to himself to play and watch TV. If an earnest desire to please was paramount, Aida would be a 5 Star experience. I have seldom seen a server express the sweet insecurity of both expressing how wonderful she believes the food to be, and at the same moment showing her deepest hope that the customer will agree with her. Those eyes. The bathos was as rich as the creamy White Wine Lemon Butter Sauce on my Scaloppine Di Pollo (Francoise). It was a very good dish. Luckily, the two home baked rolls were big enough for me to rip them apart throughout the meal and soak up both the Olive Oil and the zesty yet silky sauce. The large plate also held the side House Salad of Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Olive Oil and Vinegar. If I had had room, the house desserts looked very appealing sitting in the front display. Maybe next time. Aida is worth another look.

I took family there twice and we enjoyed the food and family service. All fresh home made by owner.

I have always been a supporter of local, small businesses. WIth that in mind, my husband and I decided to try this relatively new, family owned restaurant. Despite the fact that there was only one other couple in the restaurant while we were there (this was a Friday night prime time), we had high hopes. Once seated, we were given delicious homemade bread with oil- We loved it and were looking forward to the rest of the meal. Since the menu mentioned homemade pasta, I ordered a spaghetti and seafood entree with a mussel saute appetizer. We received the mussels and noticed that they were not in the shell. A little different than we were used to but the sauce looked beautiful and we dug right in. The mussels were canned and so salty that I could not take a second bite (thank goodness for the bread!!!). My husband, the good sport that he is ( he eats everything!!!) dipped the bread in the sauce and left the salty little mussels alone. Looking back, I probably should've canceled my spaghetti and seafood entree because when they put that in front of me, I could smell sewage! I swear!!!! The mussels were the same salty, canned ones used in the saute, the shrimp were tiny and tasted as if they were frozen and thawed many times resulting in freezer burn and the calamari were tough, smelly rubber bands . I tried to eat around the seafood and any bit of spaghetti that was far enough away from it was actually pretty tasty, but the rest of the dish was horrible!!!! I must say, I NEVER complain and in this case, although I should've sent back this un edible dish, I didn't because I felt so bad that there was no one in the restaurant. I now understand why. It is such a shame because the sauce was actually flavorful. All in all, however, this was probably the worst food I have ever had. Sorry!!!!

This resturant recently opened near my parents house and after receiving a menu in the mail, we decided to get take-out. The food was delicious and completely authentic. The pasta is homemade and tastes like it. The gnocchi melts in your mouth and the bread is baked fresh and homemade. The cream cake we got for dessert was very moist and fresh and delicious. The resturant is small and cozy, about 9 tables for 4 people & BYOB. The owners where very nice and speak Italian, as in English is their second language which is refreshing. It was nicely decorated and the chef even came out when we picked up our food to tell us about the dishes and that everything was homemade. His enthusiasm made me excited to get home and try the food, which was as good as he described. I would definitely recommend this neighborhood spot which I'm sure will become a favorite of many, and I will certainly be back when I come visit my parents.

I'm so conflicted. Here's a fairly new restaurant, run by a family who've apparently come over from Italy (judging by reading previous reviews). I want them to do well. But I had a strange and unsatisfactory experience, which I am writing solely in the hopes that these problems may be addressed. First of all, it's located in the middle of a bunch of other italian restaurants, so that's already against them. Secondly, upon pulling up to "Ristorante Aida", I see a neon PIZZA sign. Is this an upscale restaurant or a pizzeria? As it turns out, they're kind of both. They push their take-out options (less expensive and less options than what's available in-house) and even advertise on their menu that Delivery is optional. I feel this lack of identity will not help them in the long run. My girlfriend and I walked in and were greeted by a teenage girl dressed very casually. We were handed menus and instructed to pick our own table. This could be viewed as a good thing... at a diner, maybe, but I feel more like a welcomed guest when I am seated and taken care of. Unfortunately, this teenaged girl was our only interaction with any staff member. As a previous reviewer stated, there are only about 9 or 10 tables, each seating 4 people. The evening we went, there were only two other parties there, one of which left soon after we arrived. Very small, for sure. So you'd think it wouldn't take very long at all to get the food out. Or 15 minutes for some America's Choice tea. But, it did. I ordered a Coke and I received a 16oz retail bottle and glass with ice. I didn't bother to ask, but I'm guessing the refills are not free... The "homemade" dinner bread was burnt and very dry. The entree's portion size is surely decent, but for their price, I would expect them to come with soup or salad. On the other hand, I'm judging this based on chain restaurants who probably get their ingredients much cheaper and don't spend their time making their pastas in house; efforts which should be compensated extra for. Ah, but after all that's been taken into consideration, how was the food? It was good. Not great. My girlfriend's pasta dish was over-seasoned and my seafood risotto was a little undercooked. I was really hoping after all the oddities leading up to our meals that the food would blow us away and make us forget about everything else, but it didn't. After reading all the other high-praising reviews of this place, I have to wonder if it was just an off-night. Perhaps we'll try back in a few months and see if things improve. I would love to try what the others describe as fantastic gnocchi.

Wow! I have so many wonderful things to say about Ristorante Aida, Where do I begin... If you have a discriminating palate, have traveled Europe and enjoy Dining and not just choking down a fast, frozen or prepackaged meals then Ristorante Aida is the sweet little cozy spot for you. Yes, bring a wonderful bottle of wine or whatever libation you fancy and drink, laugh and enjoy your date/family because you will wait about an hour from the time you sit until your main dish is created, and I do mean created ,pasta is made from scratch, my son is addicted to the spaghetti and meatballs, Aidas father gives a little wiggle to the spaghetti as its being made so its a fun wiggle shape. Aidas does not prep any food including the rice, cooking real rice takes about 45 minutes, we are not talking instant rice so whether your ordering the homemade risotto with fresh green peas and baby shrimp or homemade rice pudding, its so worth the wait. My Husband is a creature of habit, when we go to eat he wants the food fast and he always orders the same dish, chicken Parmesan, I always thought chicken Parmesan always taste the same..not true, my inpatient husband is willing to wait 1 hour for Aidas "out of this world' Chicken Parmesan. Please give Ristorante Aida a try with a kind and open mind, expect to wait..Yes (all good things)!, expect to be served by a very sweet and shy teenage girl who is working hard for a better life for her family. Yes! expect to see a beautiful little toddler quietly appear. Yes! also expect to have a old world Italian delicious, homemade meal that is well worth the wait!

This restaurant was the worst place I've ever eaten in my entire life. We waited for over an hour to even get our food and when it finally came, it tasted like it came from a garbage can. My daughter had the mussels and linguine and the mussels were over cooked and crusty to the point where it made her sick to even look at it. My husband and son had the homemade ravioli that were boiled in a pound of salt because that's all you could taste. I had the cannelloni that was sitting under a heat lamp for a long, long, long time to the point where the cheese was hard and the meal was lukewarm. When we spoke to the chef, he insisted that we didn't know what we were talking about and had no idea how good food should taste. I come from a long line of Italian cooks, and believe me I know good food. This place SUCKED!!!!!! Don't waste your money on the SLOP they try to pawn off as food. It is inedible!!!! Try the other BYOB's in the area. Stay clear of this sorry excuse for a restaurant!!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
