I went here this summer with a friend for breakfast. Years ago this was called Flap Jake's and was a good place for breakfast or lunch. They used to close after lunch. They now offer dinner also. Disappointed! It was very expensive for eggs.We had very bad service and I would like to know how a cook can mess up an order of eggs and fruit but alas they did.The tiny bowl of fruit they served us contained under ripened melon and bits of rind that I would have thrown out.The eggs had raw green pepper that was still crunchy. The waiter never came back to check on us period. We came back to my house and I made us food. and a pot of coffee. I'm not going back there again to a tiny hole in a busy strip plaza that you risk your life backing up in. I will drive a little farther to Ben and Irv's and even use my coupon and get something decent. Too bad because this place is close to home ! I wanted to write an update. The owner of Jakes Eatery took the time to write me in response to my review. So this owner does care and invited me to meet him and to always bring any problems to his attention. He hoped I would give his restaurant another chance.I will post an update if I go back.

I love their breakfast here (Richboro location) Best place in town for sure. The order is always made how I want it and the food is always so delicious.

I was in the Newtown location but I didn't see that location on Yelp. Anyway I went here and it was good overall. Sat down right away it was a little empty but it was Thursday. I felt like the server was a little unknowledgeable regarding the menu but maybe I was expecting too much. When I asked if the pasta was fresh she gave a hesitant yes and it didn't taste fresh. I ordered the chicken, rice, and ginger soup not bad but a little bland and not enough ginger. For my entree I ordered the chicken over penne and pesto. It tasted decent but the pasta didn't taste fresh like I was told, the chicken was cooked well but the sauce was oily and not a ton of flavor. The chef seemed to use excessive amounts of cheese and parsley to try and give it a good flavor but I just kept thinking the sauce was bland. The portions were huge and you definitely got quantity if not the best quality. For the price though it wasn't bad and maybe I am just expecting too much from this place. I do hear their breakfasts are fantastic so I may have to try it for breakfast but I don't believe I will dine here again for lunch or dinner. Overall if you like ok food with large portions and fair prices you will enjoy Jake's! My biggest critique would be to make your portions smaller and invest in some fresher ingredients and not rely on parsley and huge amounts of cheese to flavor a dish.

I usually go to their Newtown location. Breakfast all day - I love it! All the 'Benedicts' are absolutely great. I always order extra sauce. The Crabmeat Benedict is genius - don't miss it!

Jake's has tons of loyal customers and as far as I can tell it's because there is no alternative to the diner style service and food in a cleaner and quainter atmosphere. They kinda fill the gap between a diner and a restaurant although they would prefer to be considered the latter, their menu offerings, junky furniture and mediocre service are holding them back.

Every time I've come to Jake's it's been for a hungover breakfast but for the first time last week, I came for dinner. I got the french onion soup and grilled cheese with bacon. The french onion soup was soOoOo good! Which was why I gave it 4 stars. The grilled cheese was great too but I'm mostly impressed with the soup. Jake's is always fairly priced, I will definitely be back for a simple weeknight dinner

If you plan to eat at Jakes, give yourself plenty of time and have your blood pressure under control. Same goes to people working there. Jake's is an amazing, bustling diner with really good simple food. For food quality and service I'd give Jake's a 5. But... today's poor implementation of one policy forces me to give as central a rating as possible, balancing my momentary anger with the many times I've enjoyed breakfast here. Yesterday I had chipped beef on toast. Who trusts a diner to make that & serve it fresh? Well, Jake's SOS was terrific - perfectly seasoned and with the telltale shine that confirms its freshness. Today, my blueberry pancake was delicious and others in my party enjoyed their Jakewiches - essentially handmade high quality McMuffins. However... a huge cloud darkened my experience in the form of a badly practiced policy. Jake's will not seat a party unless all are present. The policy helps tables turn quickly for better service to all. But... I arrived at 8:30 on a Sunday and was seated immediately. At 9:10 two men arrived one of whom was in a hurry. They were not permitted to be seated as a 3rd was expected, even when they asked for a visible empty table for two. Multiple tables for 4 opened up and were bussed. Still new arrivals were seated while the men fumed. Everyone I arrived with finished and departed. I still had no food. So... why can I sit and enjoy my 3rd cup of coffee watching people arrive and leave before me while others stand? Something isn't working. I told a busboy the men needed to be seated. "I don't make the policy" he said. Well an exception needs to be made as open tables are present, they are prepared to order and my party is leisurely sitting. Somehow the hostess was involved and Steve came out of the kitchen with guns blazing. He loudly defended his policy, tossed out his stresses (including "I'm about to have a heart attack," his work schedule and years of experience), and was unable to view the situation from a customer's side. I'm sorry he's stressed, I feel for the poor hostess whom I saw get burned by the coffee machine, I feel for the staff who practically run all morning, but for pity's sake, seat two guys who are in a bigger hurry to leave than you are to serve me.

Slow. I'm still waiting for the scrambled egg I ordered at the end of my breakfast. Slow is the best explanation for this place. The food is def good and staff is nice, but running around this busy, understaffed, cramped restaurant. We added one order of a scrambled egg w pork roll at the end of breakfast and it added about 20 mins to leaving after we paid the bill. Kitchen was slammed. They could have had our table of 9 out of here over 20 minutes ago and seated these other poor souls standing at the door near the cold air rushing in. Food is good. Nice menu. My kids really loved the pancakes. I loved my omelet - - the "Urban Omelet" and the egg white "Telluride Omelet" were excellent. Staff is overworked. Wait takes forever (I guess unless it's empty). Maybe come alone, sit at the bar (they have a nice small breakfast bar). My pork roll was great on the way out so that made me happy!! I was hoping to get in and out much quicker.

Jake's Eatery is a longtime establishment in Richboro, and their is a reason for that. I've been going here since it was at its old location and it was known as Flap Jakes; the food is still the same, and it always makes me feel back at home. The place now is in 'uptown' Richboro, it's pretty small inside, but still is roomy. The place has a diner feel, but much cleaner and more home-y. Good food, decent prices, good service. In terms of food, despite the fact I've been coming here for years, I've only really eaten breakfast/brunch. Usually I get an omelet, which comes with home fries and toast. Omelet is pretty good most of the times, but sometimes their is just too much egg and not enough of the filling. The home fries are okay, they are just slices of potatoes with the skins, good crispy, if not they just taste like potatoes. The price point is pretty decent, but no better than any other breakfast place you'll go to. Honestly, the main selling point here is the fact to me it feels like a small town/family owned establishment instead of a generic chain like IHOP or Dennys. I'd recommend Jake's if you're in Richboro, one of the top places to go in town for sure. Food (B), Pricing (B-), Atmosphere (C), Service (B)

I want to like this place- food is decent and the location is great for me, but the service is usually sooo slow and the place frequently has an faint unpleasant odor.

An average breakfast at best. The prices are high, the environment is cramped, and the homefries taste like mashed potatoes. There is so much better breakfast in the area and you shouldn't waste your time here. I've given this place more chances than I think I should have over the years. The best meal I've had here was a club sandwich and even something as simple as that--with bone-dry turkey--was a miss.

This review is about the Newtown restaurant. On two seprate ococcasions my wife and I had dinner at the Newtown restaurant. Both visits the gravey was too salty, It had to be returned. The second situation happened last night, I had ordered the Hot Turkey sandwhich amd te salt content was so heavy tat I could only eat the sliced Turkey. We infofmed the Waitres, who offered to change the dish but I was not willing to gamble on the replacement. Pleas review your Cooks gravy preparation. We do enjoy your restaurant and have been their a number of times for lunch MartinBradley

The stars are for the nice waitress and the quick service. I've been in this area for 10 years. I kept giving Jake's a try because there is only one other place to have breakfast in the "central part" of Richboro. I just keep getting disappointed because for such average orders, they make them worse than I would at home. "Stuffed French Toast" - (sigh) I can tell you the process: Two pieces of white bread (plain), strawberry slices in the middle then dipped in eggs (no cinnamon or nutmeg that I could taste) - THE MIDDLE IS NOT EGGED OR "TOASTED" just plain in the middle with the strawberries.... WHY JAKES? Why wouldn't both sides of each slice be french toast??? ugh... out side of the breakfast Jakewich and the average but not horrible quesedillas... there is not much going on here. But if you like plain plain plain food this is your place.

John M. Saturday night 5:30. We were the only people in the place, a little disconcerting. Food and service very good. $4.00 cosmo made wife very happy.

Very nice and clean, but food could be better.

Love the food! A big hit for our family. However the service isn't the greatest. A handful of times we had been sitting waiting before a server comes for over 15 minutes. This one is way better then the newtown one.

When I lived in Richboro, this was my regular weekend breakfast spot...I'm surprised to see that there aren't many reviews, as Saturday and Sunday mornings are always packed. However, they always manage to seat and serve you quickly, and the service is friendly and efficient. Their specials (ricotta/lemon zest/blueberry pancakes, yum) are always good, and you always know what you're gonna get (with the regular menu)at Jake's.

Jake's serves up terrific breakfast, lunch, and, dinner. Gets busy on weekends during breakfast. They make simple food taste good.

I have been to the Newtown location three times and it seems to always be packed for lunch. I never have to wait for a table and they are pretty fast with getting food to the table. I have tried three different meals and I am a big fan of the Tuna Melt. So delicious, they serve it open-faced and the cheese and tomato were a perfect blend. I will find it hard to get something else...
