Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Not great by far. To begin, walking through the double doors made me go from hungry to full in a split second with a oder filled smell. The sesame chicken was terrible. Some of the pieces of chicken weren't cooked. The outside of the chicken was not crispy and sort of sweet. It also came with a side of cabbage that was gross. Not recommended at all. My mom ordered a steamed chicken with vegetables and sauce dish. The sauce was inedible. It looked at tasted like straight oil. The best thing we ate was the brown rice.

Hong Kong Gourmet is basic. Their customer service is not very good. They're very hasty and make you feel rushed and not very friendly. The food is "okay" you can get just the same quality of food from China Chef, right down the road for cheaper and better customer service. One thing though is if you're trying to dine in, I would recommend this place, only cause China Chef isn't a place you want to dine in.

This place was open before my family moved into the area almost twenty years ago. It's our go-to for Chinese takeout when no one has time to cook dinner. The people who work there are all very friendly and know my parents well. Takeout orders come with fried dough strips, sauce packets, tea bags, and fortune cookies. The fortune cookies here are the best! I'm not sure if they're homemade, but they're not wrapped in plastic. Over the years, we've tried many of their dishes, but our usual order contains sauteed string beans, curry chicken or Mongolian beef, moo shoo gai pan, and mapo tofu. Some other of my favorites are shrimp-stuffed eggplant and Hawaiian chicken (canned lychees!). Their seafood tofu soup is pretty good, too. We've tried some of their specials, such as lemon chicken, but they aren't necessarily better than the other menu items. Hong Kong Gourmet has good Americanized Chinese food; the sauces aren't suspiciously thick and the amount of it is good. When we do dine in, we enjoy a good meal. The restaurant has a great atmosphere (and a lovely fish tank). The mint candies by the register are unique and definitely a must-have, too!

Good food, good service, friendly owners! If you're not into buffett's and still want a nice meal, this is where I go.

This review is for the lunch experience at Hong Kong Gourmet. The 5 Star reviews caught my attention, so even though it was a longer drive to Richboro to get to the location in Crossroads Plaza, I thought it was worth the time. Walking in, I viewed a nice dining room with the ubiquitous leatherette booths and industrial carpet, and it was bright and airy. The house was empty at 1:45, not unusual for a late lunch. There were two women working the floor. They seemed tired, but dutiful. I was pointed to a booth near the front and handed a menu. After perusing the multi-page document and seeing a fairly broad selection of dinner dishes that were appealing, I finally reached the "Lunch Special" page in the back. Although there were 24 items listed with a price range between $5.50 and $8.95, most listings were of the, "chicken/pork/beef with veggies/nuts/garlic/lobster sauce and fried rice," variety. Uninspired. All the better dishes were in other parts of the menu at much higher price points (read; dinner prices). This approach certainly made me feel that lunch was not important to this business, unless I was willing to eat dinner earlier in the day. Okay. I was there. I was put off. I would play it out. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, which had a little red pepper icon next to it. It came with Hot and Sour Soup, and Pork Fried Rice. The soup was not bad. Plenty of tofu, sprouts, and slivers of pork. Not too much vinegar. The Fried Rice was a pleasant surprise. It was fresh with chunks of pork and a nice supply of veggies. However, the Chicken came in thinly breaded cubes and rectangles, was dry tasting, and the sauce was neither sweet nor spicy. There was only a hint of flavor in the thin glurb. Pieces of Green Pepper were thrown on top of the chicken, and while it was fresh, it was monochromatic. I get that they did not want to invest heavily in my lunch, but why not a little red and yellow bell peppers, too? My read from the experience, which included non-smiling service and the delivery of my check while I was still eating, was that Hong Kong Gourmet does not want to do lunch, and is only open at those hours to catch the unwary. I deduced that the soup and rice were good because they were prepared in advance of dinner, not for the lunch crowd. Their evening victuals may well be better, but after this exposure of disinterest, why would anyone want to give them another visit? I certainly won't.

I ordered the house wonton soup, double cooked pork, chicken and mushroom and fried tofu and vegetables. I saw the wonton soup pic that was posted on this yelp page and thought it would be an authentic, thin skinned wonton, but it turns out that it was super thick skin, very little filling wonton. The wonton soup had no taste. I was very disappointed. The chicken and mushroom also had no taste. It only had a cornstarch sauce and they didn't even use chinese mushroom for the dish. Also a disappointment. I don't even know how to describe the double cooked pork. It was thinly sliced pork with a tasteless sauce and stir fried with A LOT of cabbage. The cabbage was used to make the dish look full. The deep fried tofu was the only one that had some taste to it, but it definitely not authentic. I will not be returning to this place.

I ordered lunch here once when I was at work. After going through the list of stuff they didn't have, I finally got some pork fried rice. That's it. It was really just okay. They annoyed me with their lack of options. And when I got there, I had to wait like ten minutes- but there was no one else there! Made no sense. Definitely will not be back.

Wow, so disappointing. First of all, the woman who took my order on the phone was very nice but spoke with such a thick accent it was impossible to understand a word she said. I ordered wonton soup and beef with string beans, which she apparently misunderstood completely because what I got was sauteed string beans. She repeated the order at the end of the phone call but she might as well have been speaking Norweigen for how much of what she said I was able to understand. I was in a hurry and I didn't have time to have the order re-done so I just took it. This means I paid $8.50 for a pile of string beans I could have gotten for 99 cents at Tanners, but that's my fault for not making them re-do the order. The real problem was everything was bland and utterly tasteless. I couldn't finish any of it and I will definitely not be going back. Very disappointing.

We've lived here for almost 10 years and have NEVER tried HKG. We were missing out because this is the best Chinese food I have every had. We got ours to go and everything was excellent. I'm very excited to eat there again!!

Excellent American Chinese food. It might not seem like a fancy place but it is definitely high quality. All the dishes were cooked to perfection, the Sweet and Sour chicken was crispy and the quality of the meat was excellent! The beed chow fun is very flavorful without being greasy, highly recommended.

This was an old high school hang out for me and my friends - we would have Chinese food here every Friday after school, and it never disappointed. It's one of the few Chinese restaurants that serves Hawaiian beef and chicken sticks (as appetizers). Very nice waiters and very good Chinese food!

The only thing that would make HKG better would be for them to deliver. They have yet to get our order wrong and the people who work there are unbelievably friendly. It is worth the short drive from Newtown. This is the only place we go now.

My favorite local eatery, it's your typical family-owned neighborhood chinese restaurant, with years of consistent quality and deliciousness. I've tried a lot of the menu and never had a meal here that I didn't like. If your in richboro and need a meal, this is where you should be
