We had a great time. The appetizer and salad were good, my wife loved her entree. My vegetable Alfredo was a little disappointing, but still okay. Dessert was fantastic. Service was mixed. To be fair it was a full house valentines weekend. We'll probably go again, maybe try lunch next time.

I've been here a few times and the food is impressive. The menu sports a variety of dishes - from pasta to seafood to beef - so you're sure to find something you like. Some of the meals are complex, European-inspired affairs while others are simpler (but no less delicious). The atmosphere is warm and dim - perfect for a romantic evening. I highly recommend 201 West.

Stumbled upon 201 West looking for Italian which they are not. (Yelp had it listed as Italian). Were going to leave, but after looking over the menu, we stayed - very glad we did - wonderful menu, smart wine list, attentive service, had the Onion Soup, Stuffed Pears, Spinach salad, Steak Diane and Pork Schnitzel - all were exceptional. Wine suggestions where spot on, just a nice, relaxed dinner - we would definitely return.

Excellent restaurant off the beaten trail. Great steaks with several in-house sauce selections, excellent bar, good people. Always top on my list for Berks County dining experiences.

Love their filet burgers on Monday nights & their wine selection.

Really great food. I have had prime rib at dozens of places around the country, and this was among the best anywhere! The pork schnitzel was extremly good too. The side dishes complimented the meal so well. The staff was great. . We were too full for dessert, and we are not petite eaters. Overall, a very pleasant surprise to us.

We stay in Shillington once a year for large antique weekend and also have a problem finding a decent no chain restaurant nearby. The hotel (Best Western) never recommends any place. A friend who knows a Reading city Councilman asked for a suggestion for me. I'm glad I found this place. They really don't advertise. The place seems to get mostly locals and the staff seems to know most folks. They do have steaks, which are pricey, but the rest of the menu is almost cheap for the quantity and quality is high. EVERYTHING comes with a great house salad so no reason to order any as an appetizer. The Chicken dish I had (the Chasseuer) was A FULL breast (both sides) with great sauce. And we had fettuccine instead of potatoes that made the sauce even better. At $15.00 this was a real bargain. We'll definitely be back.

Excellent food, consistent quality and service. Neat new bar area, friendly and welcoming staff. Prices higher but well in line for finer dining. Well worth a try, 5 stars.

Nice place. We first had the small house salads that come with the meal. They were cold and tasty. I had the orange vinaigrette and she had the ranch dressing. The orange vinaigrette was very good. I had the veal parmigiana and she had the veal with wild mushrooms. Both very good. The service was good, the bathrooms clean, and the atmosphere was good.

Cheery servers and a concise menu makes 201 West one of the best spots in town for lunch. However, I must warn those with strict lunch breaks - even at less than full capacity, serving times can sometimes drag. On a few occasions when the restaurant was at roughly 60% capacity, entrees took over twenty minutes to arrive. Even for those with one-hour lunch breaks, you might be cutting it close, depending on where you're driving from!

Have to say I will never go back to this place. Food was bad server had an attitude, bartender came out to let us know how much alcohol we were drinking in out soda filled mixed drinks.

My boyfriend & I were there last night- we had an amazing meal from start to finish! We had the bang bang shrimp as our appetizer which was outstanding! I had chicken Chesapeake which was delicious and my boyfriend had the steak Dianne which he said was the best steak he's ever had. We shared peanut butter pie for dessert which was perfect. We have nothing bad to say about our experience! We will definitely be back!

Great place! Great wine! Great food! The menu is so amazing. The only trouble I had was which item did I want more. Being that Duck isn't on every menu, I went for that. So so good! My husband had the pork schnitzel and said it was the best he ever had. My mother had one of the veal dishes and my father had a filet. Everyone was extremely excited about their dishes. Oh- and the tiramisu!!!! Probably the creamiest I have ever tasted. The one area where we had a bit of an issue was our service was a bit spotty. She told us the soup of the day was a tomato cream base soup. Based on the "cream based", we ordered it. It wasn't cream based... Also, several times we would go for periods of time, needing the waitress and she would be MIA for long periods of time. We will definitely be back!

Disgrace to food. Decor is confused, drab and unappealing. Servers all act like this is their first experience. The staff bickers and rants about the restaurant like it's a schoolyard recess period (professionalism?...no). Manager walks about with a cocktail no greeting customers, but did manage to open a very large closet door conveniently near our table. For what reason? No idea but thanks for saying "excuse me" Deep fried Our Chilean Sea Bass! You're chef turned it into a big fish stick. Are you crazy? Will never, ever go back! They smothered my filet mignon in sauce instead of drizzling it properly, plus I ordered it medium and it ended up being medium well. The menu is pricey like it's finer dinning but the food is subpar. My vegetable mix was definitely from a frozen plastic bag you'd get from the grocery store (Birds Eye). I wouldn't recommend this place to my dog.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
