We have tried the Pottsville location twice. The food is OK. I had the roasted garlic and beer wings, they were nice and crispy, but I did not taste any garlic flavor? My husband had a buffalo chicken cheesesteak. He said it was good. The service was fast and efficient. Good place to stop in if you want a drink and some munches.

Food is really good and the beers are great. By far one of the best places to eat in Pottsville, PA.

Offering a lot of the basics but to a high quality! fresh battered, onion rings, pickles, jalapenos even mozzarella. Fresh battered haddock. Great Irish themed dishes like shepherds pie, steak and mushroom pie with flaky puff pastry. The calamari is fresh battered and topped with red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese and served with a killer lemon aioli. Sit upstairs/downstairs or even on the side patio. 10 draft beer choices.

This place has good burgers but the best thing about it is they offer flights of beer. Since I'm not a huge beer drinker, it gave me a chance to try a few different ones. I ended up trying a few that I would never have ordered in a full size draft so it was nice to try the smaller size. They also have pierogi appetizers which are awesome. This place would be a four or maybe even five star place but our waitress added extra tip onto my credit card and it took management months to even get a response to me. The girl has since quit/been fired but I wonder how many other people she did that to before anyone noticed. I will def go back next time I am in town......but I will be paying cash

A note to anyone coming to Pottsville for the Yuengling Tour, they don't have a place to eat and drink on the premises. So after wetting your whistle with a few beer samples, you are sent out into downtown Pottsville with a slight buzz, jonesing for beer, having to fend for yourself. A quick Yelp search yielded a few good results and we chose The Wooden Keg based on our attire and it's proximity to the brewery. The time was between the lunch and dinner rush on a Friday afternoon so we were seated and greeted immediately. Because I was in the spirit, I was hoping to try some of the more obscure Yuengling products (maybe the Porter) but they didn't seem to have any special Yuengling brews than any other bar in Southeast PA. Also, it's an Irish pub and they had a Guinness special so I figured , "When in Ireland..." The menu was standard Irish pub fare. I ordered some wings which were above average. My friend ordered a spin dip which he enjoyed. I was tempted to continue on my usual Burger Tour of America but decided that I was on vacation so Id try something different. I tried the Shepherds Pie. It was very good but one of the rare occasions where the meal was actually bigger than the picture. I was only able to eat 1/3 of it (and I was hungry) and actually had 2 additional meals from it. I haven't had shepherds pie since my adolescence and with all due respect to my mom, this one was better. My friend wasn't as satisfied with his Steak and Mushroom pie, but I had to admit it looked really good. Ultimately, I think we got the meal you would expect to get from a little Irish Pub. Hearty but nothing fancy. Our server/bartender Jade was cute and friendly. She did a great job. The whole staff seemed to care about customer satisfaction as even the managers walked around asking how we were doing. Overall, The Wooden Keg is a great place to decompress after the Yuengling tour and a nice little spot in downtown Pottsville. I recommend it highly.

We came here for a late lunch after going on the Yuengling brewery tour. Looked like a good place for beers and some pub food. Overall the food was ok. We ordered several apps and 3 different types of wings. All were good but nothing special. I'd give the food 3.5/5. The service here was absolutely terrible. We were not greeted when we walked in. It was our first (and last) time here so we didn't know if it was a seat yourself type of place. After standing around for awhile the bartender told us to sit wherever. When we ordered our drinks we asked if they had any ciders on tap and the waitress said no. Turns out they did have several ciders in bottles but the waitress never offered that alternative. Our apps came out pretty quickly and shortly after we finished I saw 3 orders of wings come down on the dumb waiter. I then watched them sit on the end of the bar for 40 minutes without our waitress ever coming back to our table. She eventually came back over to check on our drinks and we asked about our wings. She said she would check, walked over to the 3 orders sitting on the bar, read the ticket took them back upstairs to the kitchen and told us our food would be right out. I had to tell her I saw her take the old wings back to the kitchen and that we wanted fresh wings, not the ones that sat around for 40 minutes. After the manager stared at us the entire time we ate he came over to ask us how everything was. We told him how long we waited for our food, he said sorry and that was it. The staff here simply doesn't care. We never gat napkins or utensils, the staff was on their phones the whole time, they did not use fresh glass when we ordered another round and even though we were there during happy hour (1/2 price apps and drinks) we were charged full price for the apps.

My wife and I went here despite the reviews you see below because we believe in giving a restaurant a chance and understand that people have different opinions. People - please take notice to this review and don't make the same decision we made. The atmosphere - Typical bar scene. Bar and tables downstairs with TVs and karaoke. Upstairs has more seating. We walked in and no one greeted us. Being as though we have never been here, we weren't sure if it was a seat yourself place. The bartender was nice enough to advise us that we can sit anywhere, which we did. We proceeded to go upstairs and sit a two person table tucked away in the corner. Cleanliness is NOT at the top their priorities. The windowsill was filled with dead insects that have been there for sometime due to the dust that accumulated on them. The waitress didn't seem too thrilled to take our order tonight. I ordered the turkey feta burger and fries and my wife ordered the Celtic shrimp with fries. About 30 minutes til our food came out. My wife's dish looked like it was sitting under the broiler too long because the cheese was almost burnt and the toast was very hard and burnt. My burger came out like it should. We never received any silverware nor did our waitress ask if we needed/wanted anything else. We began to eat our dinner. More than halfway through the meal, our waitress came back over to ask if we needed anything. We asked for silverware and we received a snotty okay. My wife was about halfway through her plate of fries and there was a bug. Ugh. A living bug in the fries. After this we were thoroughly disgusted with our entire experience and vowed to NEVER go back. During the entire time we never saw management to see how their patrons are enjoying the food and the service. It was the worst restaurant experience we've had and a complete waste of $30 we've ever spent.

I am not from the area, but was staying close by and wanted to try something with a local flavor (and local beers!) Stopped in on a Thursday night, the crowd was friendly, they had live music and the staff was also courteous. The manager (I assume) came by a couple times to make sure everything was okay which was nice. Had the monstrous and delicious Cobb Salad which was literally overflowing on my plate! It was full of veggies, bacon, hard-boiled egg and I got chicken on top. It was really great, later on had a cup of their potato cheese soup which also hit the spot. Food was really good and wished I could have fit in more! Overall a good bar spot with the food to match, definitely recommend to swing by.

Loud music with tables in the back. It's a fun place to drink yuengling on draft after the tour up the street. Get a burger OR the buffalo-periogies, which are deep fried and amazing. Pub food + vibe, enjoyed ourselves !

All three times that we visited this bar, the same bartender was working. She was just so miserable that it made the experience miserable. She didn't smile, and she made you feel like you were bothering her when you want a drink. The music was too loud, making it difficult to carry on a conversation. Plus, we tried the boneless wings. I didn't think any of the signature sauces were all that special. Later on that night, we both felt sick from the food.

We went there last night around 6:30, the waitress came right over,we order drinks and wings. i know they like to drown them in sauce like Josh said so I specifically told the waitress easy on the sauce, well when she brought them to the table, guess what I said what happened to the easy on the sauce, "sorry". There was that much sauce that we had to feel around in the sauce for our last few wings because they were submersed in it, they were good but we had to shake the excess sauce off. We then order burgers they were very good the fries were good no complaints there. On a Thursday & Friday they have live music I got to say the Music was so load we couldn't have a conversation, when the watress came over I couldn't hear what she was saying. We were planning to stay for a few drinks but the music was so ridiculosely loud we decided to leave. Please tone it down Wooden Keg there's no need to have the music that loud when people have to screem to one another to talk.

I thought I'd give The Wooden Keg in Pottsville a second try. To be sure my last horrible experience here wasn't a fluke, I ordered pretty much the same thing. Wings. This is supposedly a menu item they pride themselves on. Last time, the wings were swimming in so much sauce it made me nauseous. This time they arrived barely warm and so overcooked that I thought I'd choke on a petrified piece of wing schrapnel. But perhaps the real let down here was just how underwhelmingly terrible and clueless the staff was. There were 3 tables occupied when I arrived at dinner time with 4 waitresses on duty and a bartender. Every time one of them walked away to do god knows what, the other hens would talk trash on her right in front of me. Didn't matter which waitress or bartender it was. It was annoying that I could hear all of this idiotic banter. And despite the lack of crowd and surplus of staff, I still waited for drinks. Terrible. Do yourself a favor and jut go to Roma next time (No affiliation).

I've eaten at the Pottsville location twice now. Crabcake sandwich was good. A little filler but good. Fries are great pub fries. I ordered a shrimp salad and the shrimp were grilled just right but the salad was just pure iceberg lettuce, a little onion and tomato. The salad was really bad. I ate the tomatoes and shrimp and that's it. A good salad should be better than cheap iceberg lettuce. But the waitress we had both times was very good. Good bar food but not so great if you're looking for a quality meal.

I tried to explain to her that it is a two step draw for a correct pint. She looked at me and said " yea, it tried that. It didn't work". Wish they would tale the time to learn and train the whole staff!!
