Stopped in for coffee and possibly lunch based on previous reviews and ended up having a pretty lame experience. First, I ordered coffee and after being asked if I took sugar and replying that I would like to sweeten my own coffee the guy making the drinks added a TON of sugar (way way too much for anyone). Next, my partner orders an iced chai and he responds with "what would you like that made with?" - huh? Aren't you supposed to be a barista? Turns out, he had no idea what he was doing as he prepared water, ice and a few squirts of chai flavor - it was awful. Now for the atmosphere: crammed tables and local/regulars who are like yelling machines. Also: people smoke right outside the back entrance which was wafting in the entire time. Perhaps we caught it on a bad day, but I was disappointed.

This humble and quaint adobe on the corner of Centre Street is not one where you want to shy yourself away from! Sage is more of a cafe - and the winding staircase really does lead to a tea garden! The menu consists of creatively strewn delicious pita wraps, sandwiches and salads that can be satisfying for anyone looking for a healthier alternative that is more than just a plain salad, fruit or granola on your lunch break or if you're meeting here for lunch. It is within convenient walking distance if you work or will be close to the downtown area. Service is knowledgeable, fast, warm and very friendly. I wanted to stay longer to savor my veggie and hummus wrap but at least the after thought is still lingering on my tongue! I feel satisfied and full of energy - how I LIKE to feel after a meal. If I had more time, I would have liked to see a dessert menu. However, I saw some cookies and a frosted pound cake on the counter top. I hope that's not all there is to the dessert menu! Would return to try the tea garden. I'd be interested to see what types of selections of teas that they have to offer. A caveat though is that they are not always open - so call ahead before you bring your appetite or thirst for good tea so you won't be disappointed!

an overlooked gem of pottsville. one of the only places within a 20 mile radius to get some hand pulled espresso. Like to visit here as much as I can.

I love grabbing lunch here in Pottsville. They have great sandwiches and unusual salads. Their beef sandwich is very good as is the Sage house soup. They also have coffees and teas and homemade desserts. The menu and desserts change all the time, and I've never had a bad meal here.

Went in for an iced latte and a salad. $9. Took it to go, both were delish. Menu is soup, salad, sandwiches...perfect little lunch place. The woman at the counter was very friendly. I'll have to eat my food here next time and explore a little more... maybe the winding staircase leads to the tea garden? Let's be honest -- Roma has the best food in Pottsville, but this place is a really great, healthy alternative to pizza!

Their spicy vegetable soup is my go to comfort food when visiting family in Pottsville. Growing up, the vanilla Italian soda was my favorite treat. (I still get one before I leave!) Cute, small, and convenient.

While in Pottsville the need for coffee was much needed for our group, and Sage looked like a cool place from the outside. When we walked in it also had a really cool look to it with it's exposed Brick wall and cool spiral stair case. Unfortunately things went downhill once our coffee orders had been placed. 2 Iced Mochas, Iced Latte and an Italian Soda. One by one each of the coffee drinks found their way to the blender. That's right... the blender?? Iced and Blended are not one in the same. Oh well I thought maybe she thought we said Frozen? The Italian Soda order then came up, and once again made it's way to the blender. Alright now that's just weird I have never seen a Blended Italian Soda. Every drink sent straight to the jaws of the Oster Blender. This Blender must get some serious action in this coffee house? Overall the taste left very much to be desired as well, all the drinks were powerfully sweet, and had no espresso taste to be found. As for the Italian soda, well it was more like Italian Ice. As other reviewers had stated I'm not sure they actually know how to make coffee in this coffee house, but just do what they think is correct. Not a top spot by far for coffee in my book.
