My family and I visit this place often. The waitresses are all very nice. The food is good & prices good! The turkey club & BLT are my favorite things.

I'm not sure why all the hate - this is your classic small town diner, with good diner food and only slightly kitschy decor. The old Manheim diner was a Schuylkill Haven staple until a kitchen fire ravaged the place a few years ago The lot remained empty for several years until they built this place on the spot. Just like the old Manheim, this diner serves good, cheap food (and $1.89 draft beer). I've been here several times and have always great service too. The food is a little slow getting out of the kitchen, especially if you come for brunch on Sundays, but I've always left satisfied (the portion sizes are massive). Stick with the classic diner staples - breakfast, Reubens, Rachels, meat loaf, etc - and you'll be more than satisfied. Ignore the haters - there was a rough patch when this place first opened two years ago, but it has since gotten a lot better. It is well worth your time and money.

Hadn't been to the Manheim sine before it burned to the ground; maybe 15 yrs. Had breakfast on consecutive days while home for the holidays. Breakfast served all day Sampled western omelette, veggie omelette and side show bob omelette. Excellent toast--maybe homemade bread. Coffee is average; OK to drink, but I wouldn't make a special trip. Service is not the fastest; but we were in no hurry. Omellette are solid. We all experienced clean plate syndrome, which is a rarity among the 13-18 yr old age group. Can't comment on lunch/dinner, but this is not the sort of place I would usually frequent for those meals either. Great Diner for breakfast fare.

Definitely the type of place you try because of its convenience but overall a great experience! Fast and friendly service and breakfast for four with all the trimmings for only $50! I gather from the other reviews that this may be more than the going rate for a local breakfast but breakfast in Philly will cost you twice that! I ordered the monte cristo (Grilled ham and cheese between two slices of french toast it was cooked to perfection and with a little maple syrup it was damn near perfect! Other people with me ordered the cream chipped beef and Side Show Bob (meat lovers) omelette which really should have been called the heart attack special! Although both were well received. I don't know of many other restaurants that serve 10oz mugs of beer with breakfast for less than $2, but if you know of them let me know! If for any reason I'm back in Pottsville I would definitely stop in for a bite - my only complaint: it was freezing cold in there!

Maybe I'm spoiled by the New Jersey and New York diners I've been to, but a diner with only 15-20 options for lunch or dinner is not going to cut it. I ordered a Burbon Burger and saw the cook throw the frozen patty onto the grill and that set the tone for the rest of the meal. I have not tried breakfast but don't plan to do so - I've even heard this place referred to as the "Man-slime".

Stopped for lunch the other day. Nice décor good music. Place was empty at 1PM--HUM? Maybe 4 other tables had diners. Anyway I was in a hurry ordered a Steak Sandwich and then proceeded to wait 30 minutes. Got a good size steak sandwich a short on flavor. Prior to that When I asked the waitress where the sandwich was she replied it is coming. I doubt I will stop again.

Had breakfast this morning, it was OK. I had the Greek omelet, and home fries. My husband had eggs over medium, bacon and the hash brown. My husband enjoyed his breakfast, mine was OK. My home fries tasted like dehydrated potatoes and the eggs in my omelet tasted like the scrambled eggs from the carton " not fresh". I did like my rye toast. Service was very fast and friendly. The diner was clean and the decor is cool. We will be back to try lunch and dinner.

This place is quite possibly the worst place I've ever eaten at!! How do you screw up eggs? The service was awful and the food didn't even qualify as edible. I ordered an omelette...after waiting 15 minutes our drinks and food showed up and we saw the waitress when she dropped off the check. She never came back probably because she didn't want to hear that my dog has better quality food.
(1)Sonny D.
Def a place you try out of convenience. We did on our way back from Knoebels. Good food, decent prices, clean, and good service. The kids made us make it a tradition to our yearly Knoebels trip. So for a few years now our once a year annual visit has been consistently good.
(4)Michael R.
This place was empty mid-week at 8AM. That's probably a good indicator of how good of a value it is. I had two scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage and wheat toast. My buddy had a bacon and cheese omelet, hash browns and scrapple. We both had coffee (and he had a soda). The bill was $25.00! In Pottsville...really? I didn't have time to double check the math but it was way more than I'm used to paying locally. Additionally my buddy picked up the tab so I kept my mouth shut. The wait staff was a bit rough. One waitress (she's the larger of the two) is pretty rough and has a edge to her tone. I don't know that she should be waiting tables. Perhaps washing dishes is more appropriate based on her social skills. That said the hash browns were good and the wheat toast was good. Just didn't expect to pay that much especially since my meal was right off the weekday special page. I'd pass on this place and spend your money somewhere else.

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Twice I have gone here and have been forgotten. There was a handful of people and one waitress. We placed our order and waited for over and hour and didn't even get a drink. Will never go back. Stay away.

Had lunch with family today. Had a triple decker turkey & bacon sandwich with fries. Large sandwich with good crisp French fries, I could not finish all the sandwich and took the rest home for tonight. The two kids had grilled cheese with fries and a ice cream dessert. They ate everything and gave it two thumbs up. Wife had a Rachael sandwich and said it was too big but very good. Server was polite and always there to top off the drinks and napkins. 50's style diner with good food and clean appearance.
(4)Stephanie M.
My boyfriend and I usually come here on the way to his parents house. It's the halfway point and they serve beer. When you have 3 kids finding a place that serves beer is a must. Anyway, usually when we come here there is nothing good or bad about the food. It's just something to feed the children to keep them from complaining. This last time we went...I think someone spilled a bottle of baby oil all over the entire floor. I'm not kidding...every square foot of that place was a slippery hazard. I was scared to walk on the floor and had to hold on to the furniture to get around. Other than that one experience I have no complaints. We will more than likely go again...but like I said...beer.
(3)Amanda B.
I'll give this three stars, it would have gotten four but my southern fried chicken was very small and had barely any meat on the leg, and none on the wing (literally, no meat at all on the wing). However, the fries, corn, bread and spaghetti sides I got were all fantastic. I was also with 4 other people, and they all enjoyed their food immensely, and two of them go there all the time. The waitress was very nice, always getting us new coffee and drinks, and checking in on us all the time, but the wait for the food was a bit slow. A table that came in after we did, got their food before we did, which I thought was odd, but we did take a bit long to decide on our food. The diner looks nice outside, and inside. Very nice atmosphere and I was very much enjoying the oldies music playing.
(3)Vanessa W.
Wow I am kind of shocked at the overall poor reviews of this place - we had a great meal! It's a new diner styled like the old ones with fun retro decor. I got breakfast for dinner and my waffles were tasty. Bacon was especially good. Finished it off with a great piece of pie. Server was friendly and attentive til later in the meal, but she was also busy. We were just passing through, but I would go again if I find myself in that area.
(4)Charles P.
Stopped on way from NY to Georgia. Was not sure due to some of the reviews but glad we did. Waitresses were friendly and attentive. I had roast beef dinner and it was very, very good. Large chunks of tender beef with homemade mashed potatoes and a delicious gravy. My partner had the fresh flounder. It was also very good. Salad was a bit average and the green beans overcooked, but rest of meal was great. We will plan on stopping again on way back north.
(4)Morgan B.
The food here isn't great. Some of the service isn't either. I came here with a large group once, and when we asked to push two tables together, a grouchy waitress told us we couldn't, leaving us in separate booths. Luckily, she reached the end of her shift soon after we ordered. Our new waitress, Virginia, was fantastic. Honestly, I think she's one of the best waitresses I've had anywhere in my life. Below average diner with inconsistent service. Eh?
(3)Joe S.
Ok food. Not great service. But nice to see a decent diner near pville
(2)Krissy K.
I wasn't terribly impressed with the food, the waitress was really nice, but forgot part of my order. Not saying I would never go back, but definitely won't be a 1st choice.
(2)Erica R.
Okay food, poor service. I've met people here for business meetings. And personally for breakfast. Okay but not at all great.
(2)Brian S.
I'll make this simple for you: DO NOT GO HERE! What a great looking dinner on the outside, what a mess on the inside. I decided to stop here on a road trip up north. I was a single person and sat at the bar. Let me explain, it was busy. OK, I understand and don't mind waiting a little bit. I ordered an omelet and a coffee. The coffee came out quickly, yea! But that was about it. I waited, and waited and waited for my omelet. THE WHOLE TIME! No kidding, the waiters where complaining and moaning about how busy they were, and somehow were attempting to assign tables by themselves. I overhead them say about 5 times, that group over there has been sitting there for 15-20 minutes and no one has taken their order yet. I also got to view the dirty kitchen were two very busy cooks were yelling out "WE ARE out of this, and out of that.. Its too busy... " Meanwhile they were busy sweating in all the food. About 10 minutes after I got there a guy shows up and takes a seat next to me. Does the same thing, orders his food and a coffee. About 30 minutes later (no lie), his food comes out! .. So about 45 minutes in I have no food and the guy next to me does, makes no sense at all. I politely ask the waiter if my food was coming up and she tried, very politely to ask the cooks. They look at this print out full of tickets and somewhere about 10 down is mine. They curse at the waiter and tell her its going to be a while (to put it politely). So after waisting over an hour of my trip I just put a $1 down on the counter for the coffee and walked out. So, If you are still reading. NEVER EAT HERE. Summary: Management doesn't care, waiters don't care, kitchen looked unsanitary.
(1)Naomi S.
Food was disgusting. Rice pudding was gloppy/gluey with a terrible chemical taste. It took the one waitress, who was exceptionally nice (she should get her own star) FOREVER to wait on us. And even though we only got a grilled cheese, it was a 20 minute wait for the food. I would NEVER go back there EVER.
(1)MELANIE S.
WHOA..........Don't even waste your time or money. The wait staff doesn't even fall into the pitiful catagory. The fat guy that claims to be a manager prefers to munch his way through the day then resolve the diner's problems. The food is God awful! Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with the Manheim....I would love to see that episode!!!! Bottom line.....not worth the food poisoning and trip to the emergency room!
(1)Michael D.
The scenery is very nice (shiny, sparkling clean retro '50s/60s vibe), but the service is terrible. I don't know whether it's the waitresses, the kitchen staff, or both, but it takes forever to get your food, and the food is only your standard dining fare.
(2)Meghan B.
