Great food and atmosphere. I've only done lunch here and its quick and really good - can get in and out in 45 minutes for under 10 bucks a person. Reccomend the classic pad thai. Not overrun at lunch like many crazy lunch experiences.

I went to this place for the first time today due to all of the rave reviews and a serious craving for Thai food. I dinned on the Spicy Beef and Pumpkin Curry and it was amazing! I will have to say that the lunch portions are small and a male patron may need to add an appetizer to thoroughly satiate his appetite. I can't complain because the price was right ($7.50+tax). The ambiance was quaint, clean and cozy without the stuffiness that comes with packing in too many patrons in a confined space. The wait staff were courteous and attentive with genuine smiling faces. I will be back soon to try additional offerings on their expansive menu.

Another user asked what the spice level of my dish was. The waitress never asked or told me. Based on my own scale of 1-10 I would have to say it was a 6 if you ate the sauce by itself, but only about a 4 mixed with the rice and meat.

I didn't think this restaurant was worth all the hype. The spring rolls many reviews talked about weren't that good at all. They were really small and were mostly dough with hardly any filling. Their salad with mango and chicken, however, was pretty good. My entree was the spicy drunken noodles with shrimp. The waiter didn't ask me for a spiciness level so I asked if I could have a four. Had I not specified, I don't know how spicy it would have been. But when I got my food, I couldn't eat it. It was WAY too spicy for me. I had to share my boyfriend's entree with him. He got the red curry, which was really good. Curiously, his was listed on the menu as "spicy", like my entree was. He did not specify a spiciness level and his was tolerable. I got mine boxed to go and luckily was able to mix it with enough scrambled eggs to make it edible the next day. I drove an hour to get to this resaurant and I would never drive that far for it again. Some side notes - This was supposed to be a romantic dinner for our anniversary but this place has almost no atmosphere. No music playing and it's just echoed voices throughout the place. It's pretty small. Also, they don't serve alcohol but it is BYOB with no corking fee.

Fun exotic Thai food that leaves you wanting more. This is a great restaurant to ease the pickey eater into Thai food. I would recommend the lemongrass soup.

Don't get turned off by the ambiance. This is a great family run Thai restaurant. I love tofu and their's is freshly made. Their Phad Thai is pretty good but not fantastic. If you're into Thai you should be more adventurous anyway. Their Pineapple Curry is really good as is their Grilled Chicken with Basil. If you're in the area, give this a try. You won't be disappointed.

This place had fantastic food - home made tofu and lovely stuff in general. I had take-out the last 2 times I was there as I was in the area for work and had stuff to do back at my hotel room.

i randomly went to this restaurant for the first time last week after driving out of the city for a doctor's appointment. i love thai food and haven't found many good ones in pittsburgh, so i figured i'd try it out. i went for lunch... they have an extensive lunch menu, all entrees under $10. I had the bangkok spicy vegetable curry- very good. two days later, i went back again and ordered the spicy coconut soup... BEST noodle soup. I can't wait to go back, even though I have to drive 30 minutes to get there.

This Thai is very american and average, nothing here screams authentic. The "spicy" was very low in heat level and had no taste, it just was bland. They refused to use spices and herbs that may have brought their food to a 4 star level, and just told me to add the siracha that was on the table. I myself had the Magic Tofu, which was thin thin strips of tofu mixed with green peppers, some other veggies and served over rice. My friends had everything ranging from curries to pad thai and their opinions were all very similar, there was no actual taste to the food, it was just bland. Overall I will not go back, but it is the only Thai in the area.

I've been here multiple times. To name some of what I've tried: the peanut satay chicken appetizer, pineapple fried rice, green curry, pad thai and I'm sure others. They have a lot on their menu, so I'd love to try some new things in the future. I've tried a bite of some other dishes, and they have the potential to be very spicy! So if you aren't a fan of spicy heat, be cautious. It's always been very good! I think my favorite is the pineapple fried rice - it has delicious flavor. You want to eat all of it! Plus, it comes in a pineapple...who wouldn't like that? Service has always been pleasant.

We have dined at the GM twice in the past three years and wasn't impressed either time. As others have said the wait staff were not necessarily unfriendly, but rather disinterested and appeared to have other things on their mind despite our being the only diners in the restaurant. We ordered three dishes, one satisfactory, one very bland and one that had an odd flavor, ... what I imagine floor cleaner to taste like. At the end of the meal the third dish was cleared relatively untouched with no inquiry from the server, which I thought was odd. Our intentions were to share everything so 2 of 3 wasn't a big deal. In all it wasn't a negative experience, but not memorable either. Meh, sums it up nicely.

I used to eat here all the time, stopped in, all my food was bland. They took it back, tried to fix it but only made it worse. They insisted numerous times I take something home and despite saying no they kept insisting on a dish, and then CHARGED me for it. I don't recommend going, and I won't be back.

My mom and I ate here for dinner today. We don't usually eat Thai food, but we really enjoyed our dinner! The service was attentive and efficient, and our food was delicious. I ordered the spicy basil tofu and my mom ordered the rad na noodles. We also ordered the spring rolls. The flavor for all of it was great, but I especially loved my entree. The basil tofu was definitely spicy, and I love heat! The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. Would recommend!

Still think I've had much better thai cuisine elsewhere, nearly everwhere. Summer rolls (ones non-fried in rice paper) were as bland as bland could be and I'm not talking spices, just flavor. How is that possible??? Even I make these. Then I had pad thai with chicken. Chicken was overcooked. Meh. Would have been better without.
(2)
Nicole B.
It was average ... I'm a huge fan of Thai peanut sauce and there were only two options on the menu for that. I got Chicken Satay and Brown rice. My partner got pineapple fried rice with chicken and she enjoyed every bite of it. If I'm in the area I would stop back and try it again. The service was OK not rushed and pretty quick. The bathrooms weren't very clean either.

By far my favorite Thai place. Dare I say, best summer rolls in PA? Green curry is also delicious. One word of advice, if you're traveling on business, they don't take AMEX, visa and MasterCard only.

Went here yesterday... I used to go here more often back in the day. This place used to be much better. It has really gone down hill. We got some sort of chicken curry dish which was very dry and bland and pretty lame. We also got fried rice and it was pretty lame. Overall, not very impressive.

Solid Thai food for Pittsburgh. We ordered tom yom soup, fried fish cakes, pad thai, and queen tilapia. Our waitress made the soup sound small (she indicated a cup size with her hands) so we ordered one each, but they turned out to be bowls, so it was too much. I had never had the tilapia before and it was overly saucy, but tasty. Not as spicy as I'd expected for Thai food which is good for someone who can't really handle spicy, but potentially disappointing for someone who can.

My husband and I decided to try this place while he was in Monroeville for work. The people were nice and friendly, but the food we got was not good at all. I got the Pad Se Eu he got the Drunken Noodles. They looked exactly the same and both were pretty gross. The flavor of mine actually wasn't too bad, but the noodles were like a gooey mess. It turns my stomach just thinking about the texture of the noodles. They were just waaay over cooked. We actually paid for our food then went and got something to eat somewhere else. I wanted it to be good so bad.

This place isn't too shabby for Thai food in the Monroeville area. It's not fine dining or elegant by any means, but it does give you reasonable portions and is a good spot to stop for lunch. While you won't be wowed by the food, you won't be disappointed, either. They have some decent appetizers to try (like the Summer Rolls...try the duck) and the Pad Thai was easy to scarf down. If you're in the area looking for a lunch stop and want some Thai food, this place is worth a try.

I tried different Thai food restaurants in the Pittsburgh area but this one is by far my favorite one. I love all things I've tried there. Every single dish is authentic. Prices are reasonable and stuff is always courteous and mindful. Love it.

I'm a fan of Thai food so my family and I decided to try this place. It's close to home and we reviewed the menu before our visit. We ordered Spring rolls, Pad Thai and the Pataya Chicken Noodle soup. The spring rolls came out fast and hot. Both the rolls and dipping sauce was bland. The only taste was of fried rice paper. We ate them anyway... The pad Thai was average at best. One of my family members summed it up best: the food is decent, it's close to home, but if I had to choose I wouldn't pick this place.

I'm not sure how exactly to gives stars. My entire family ate here on New Year's Eve (12/31) around 5:00. We enjoyed fried tofu, spring rolls, and summer rolls for appetizers. Dinners ran the gambit from drunken noodles to tofu rad prik. Everything was good- not Pusadee's Garden, but good. Exactly 36 hours later, my entire family (including my 11 month old son) came down with some rotavirus. It was a worship your bucket between your knees kind of day. For 3 days after, no one could eat anything. We are only just recovered. Now, I understand that we could have picked that virus up anywhere. But, our only commonality was The Green Mango. 5 adults and one 11 month old were very sick. I'll go back. I just won't be back for a while...

One of my favorite restaurants of all time. The food is always consistently amazing and the staff there is one of a kind! You can't go wrong with any of the curries (the pineapple curry is my favorite) and the phuket fried rice! Hands down the best thai food in Pittsburgh.

Another lunch favorite of the Penn Center crowd. The flavors of the Mango cannot be beat. The Mango Chicken Salad is just fantastic. The Thai iced tea is a real treat, too. I have had several of the duck dishes and was not disappointed on any occasion. The red and green curry are quite good, as well. The service is the wild card, but sometimes they are just that busy. . .

Nothing about this place disappoints! The food is excellent, fresh and I wish I could eat here more often. It is pretty far from where we live but we happened to be in the area and I'm really glad we were able to have dinner here. The service is quick and friendly.

The food is good. Presentation is good and taste is good. Waiters are nice and responsive. Prices are above average for a noodle place and portions were of average size. My hubby and I definitely didn't leave hungry but we also finished every single sliver of food off our plate! I like how Pittsburgh has a huge variety of Thai restaurants.

Stopped here for a quick lunch on our way into Pittsburgh. The spring rolls were average. We both took a chance and ordered salads, something we never noticed on menus at Thai places in our area. My wife really liked the Tofu and Pineapple salad. I thought her tofu was expertly fried. I loved the spicy papaya salad. The sauce was so savory and mixed well with all of the ingredients. The food was great here.

Ate lunch here on Thursday. Haven't visited in a few months so went with my favorite dish, Roasted Duck Curry. It was all that I expected, awesome!! So flavorful and even thought the dish is labeled 'spicy' it only has a little bite.

My Thai samplings across the city brought me to Monroeville and the Green Mango. I had met the owners at the Taste of Pittsburgh event at the Marriott in Cranberry and had sampled some of their curry sauces. I was convinced I needed to go check it out myself! So I went for lunch to their nondescript storefront near the Sears store (great landmark, right?) and settled in for a good lunch. The atmosphere is bland but I knew that the spice levels of their curry sauces were not so I was anxious to give it a whirl. The menu was extensive for lunch - perhaps even too much to look at and decisions become difficult when you only have so much time. I ordered and asked, as always, for it to be Thai hot. When my plate arrived my first reaction was one of disappointment. It just didn't look good and tasting it confirmed that it didn't measure up to other Thai places around. Don't get me wrong, it's not that it was bad, it just wasn't very flavorful and it surely wasn't Thai hot. In fact, it wasn't even a 5. The portion was a little small but the price was ok. Not that I won't go back but I won't drive across town to eat here. There are far better Thai places around. On a positive note, they do sell their bottled curry sauces (both red and green) in the back of the restaurant and I highly recommend picking up a couple of each (green is hotter). They also have their own Thai hot sauce for sale but I'm not a huge fan even though I've been through two bottles!! HA!

Good-bye to this Thai! Unfriendly woman seats us, although the waiter was nice. Food doesn't look like what it's supposed to be. The spring rolls were quite bland. It's like wanting a great burger, and walking into a McDonalds!

The laksa is addictive. I never tire of it. Unfortunately it's added 5 pounds to my scale, but it's so good, I'm good with the extra pounds Service is really good. They're attentive and kind. Pad Thai, rolls... Actually everything I've eaten there has been good...but the laksa is the BEST

I've been to this place twice. I had the beef satay which I thought was pretty decent. I also had the basil fried rice which was decent and the pineapple rice which was very good. My mom went with me and had the shrimp basil. The dish advertised eggplant which was scarce and had a price that was undercooked. The shrimp was bland. It basically was a fish that consisted mostly of green peppers and several overlooked shrimp scattered here and there. It had more green peppers than anything. The atmosphere is pleasant. Not too bright or too drab. The biggest downfall outside of the basil shrimp is the wait staff. They aren't rude, but they seem disinterested in doing their job. It's hard to get a server to refill a drink, and they just seem like they'd rather be doing anything else. I may come back again, but it'll likely not be my idea.

I loved this place when I first tried it in Regent Square (no longer there). The Pad Thai and Green Curry are my two favorites. Sometimes I put them both on the same plate and let the flavors mix. I have one of those good problems: I don't get to try very many items on their menu because I crave the Pad Thai and Green Curry. But I love the Spring Rolls and peanut sauce and all the curries. The decor at this location is modern and airy. Ambiance gets 4 stars! This place is great for take-out, ads there is parking right in front of the door.

It pains me to write this review, it really does. I used to be the biggest fan of The Green Mango. I used to go every week even before the Monroeville location was open. I was ecstatic when it opened in my hometown and it was a go-to spot for me and my friends. I moved away for a couple years and found another amazing thai restaurant in my new hometown, with the most amazing food. I recently moved back and hadn't had thai in awhile, so I decided to get some takeout. Man, was I sorely disappointed. My favorite is red curry with chicken, although I've tried at least half the things on the menu. As soon as I opened my eagerly waited dish, I wanted to cry! I don't know if I was so spoiled those few years while I was gone, or if this place just went downhill, I'm not sure. My red curry was a pale, watery red, and made up 75% of my container. Very few vegetables, and even less chicken. I counted a measly 5 bites of chicken in my dish. I tasted the other dishes I ordered for my family, they were decent at least. They also only gave us a tiny container of rice for the three meals...so I had to wait another half an hour to cook enough rice for us all to eat. So, the moral of my long winded story is, I'm disappointed in you, Green Mango, and we're through.

A group of 4 girls went to lunch. We ordered 4 dinners, but the portions didn't seem any different from lunch. There was no left over at all. The food was tasty, but the service was mediocre at best. One of the dishes we ordered was Thai basil and eggplant with beef. We got one piece of eggplant with no visible Thai basil leaves. We sent it back and got 3 more pieces of eggplant. It was more like green peppers and beef. Although it tasted okay, it was disappointing. (If we had ordered beef with green pepper, it would have been alright.)

Stopped here for take out during lunch on a weekend. It was a little further from the highway on this road trip than the map led me to believe, but worth the detour. Had chicken pad thai, the usual for a new thai place. The grilled chicken was a nice touch, different than the traditional but still good, and the amount of meat was generous. The summer rolls were pretty boring. The taro bubble tea was actually a slush rather than just a milk tea, but it was tasty and reasonably priced.

I live in Monroeville and The Green Mango is one of my favorite places in the area. On my last visit (yesterday), we got the Lemongrass (Tom Yum) soup, Spicy Red Curry Chicken and Glass Noodle Salad. All were amazing, especially on a cold winter day. The server was also excellent - she recommended the Lemongrass soup WITHOUT the coconut milk for extra spice. I am still a little bit under the weather and that stuff was like a healing potion that packed a good amount of spice and heat. This place is highly recommended - very good to excellent Thai food for good price.

Came here for lunch. I started with an amazing spicy Thai soup. It was so flavorful and just the perfect amount of spice. Great way to warm up. Next I ordered the pad thai. It was very good. I definitely recommend this place.

Green Mango Monroeville, in my opinion top notch Thai food. Don't expect an elegant atmosphere but everything is clean and functional. Love the Pad Thai and Lemongrass soup. We feel that the Monroeville and Wilkins areas are very lucky to have this restaurant in the area and would do well to try it out. The restaurant is easy to get to in the close vicinity of Sears and the Sprint store. Our many experiences here have always been for lunch. In summary, definitely very good Thai food and at a really great price.

Great place that is under rated. Some people probably judge this by it's decor but the food is really good. I tend to always get pad Thai but I ventured outside my comfort zone. The Thai spring rolls are awesome. I had the paradise shrimp which worked very well over the white rice. It was a light dish and I will definitely get this again. Service is always fast and friendly. No wait at 7pm on a sat

I love Thai food, however, the recent purchase at this location was quite disappointing. I ordered a dinner portion due to not having cash, and needed to use a CC. The flavor was great, however, the portion was disappointing, I had less than a 1/8 of a chicken breast in my Yellow Curry, and there were a ton of veggies. I felt the amount of protein in this dish was less than expected.

I tried to give this place a second (actually, third) chance but it just won't happen again. The employees weren't friendly but they weren't mean either. I felt like a burden to them. They were not busy but still acted like we were the least of their worries. The food came out quickly but did not have the Thai taste like other places. This place is easy to get to which is why we go here but I think I'll go out of my way for better Thai in the future.

Some of the best Thai I've ever had...! It was interesting to see their menu have so many choices especially if you eat meat. They have a dish called Roast Duck Curry... order it even if you don't like duck. This was probably the most interesting dish on their menu. Their spring rolls were amazing and they give you four of them. Most Thai restaurants do two per order. Amazing food!

The only thing that was not enjoyable about our experience was the cold draft every time someone opened the door. Other than that, everything was great. We both ordered the Tom Ka soup. It had excellent flavor with neither the spice or the coconut flavors being too intense. There was A LOT of chicken in the soup. I wish I would have ordered mine vegetarian because while I enjoy chicken, the amount was almost overpowering. My fiance had the Pad Thai and I had a noodle salad. The Pad Thai had good flavor, but was fairly average in terms of Pad Thai. My noodle salad was tasty, but had way too much cilantro in it. Overal, I enjoyed my meal and the experience, but I've had better Thai in Pittsburgh.

I don't understand the great reviews. The food wasn't good & the neither was the price. Fried spring rolls: They are tiny and very bland with filling that's non-existent. The sweet & sour sauce also had no flavor - it seemed watered down. Tofu mango salad: I was excited for a fresh & flavorful salad, but this also tasted bland. I didn't taste lime or spice in the dressing. The tofu seemed crusty & old. I barely got halfway through it & had to throw the rest out, because it tasted "off". Drunken noodles with chicken: This dish also lacked flavor & made my husband feel off as well.

Yeehaw, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. I thought the service was phenomenal and the food was also excellent. I had Tom Yum with shrimp, it was delicious sweet, sourish and spicy as heck. Then I had some fresh spring rolls, which I have to say could you use some improvement from what I have experienced in the past. They weren't up to par, a little on the bland side and only made better with the dipping sauce. My main dish was the beef rad na, Which I requested a spice level of 10 which was definitely a ten in my eyes. We also got some over the top fried rice that came in a half of a pinneapple which was also very tasty. I left this place stuffed which means it was very delicious overall. I love that this place is BYOB and they don't even charge for it, which equals awesomeness. Unless they forgot to charge me. Anywho this is a respectable joint that I wouldn't hesitate to come back to. I would also like to give my mother in law props for finally picking a non chain restaurant when we go out. Oh and she also picked up the tab which I wish she would stop doing!

My husband and I recently enjoyed dinner at The Green Mango, but I was so tempted to return today as I drove by! We had previously frequented the Regent Square location but tried this location for the first time last weekend. It was a cold and rainy night, so I risked trying the unknown for the sake of easier parking. I was delighted to be greeted by an employee that I often see in Regent Square, so I immediately felt at home. I absolutely love The Green Mango's Chicken Pad Thai and Phuket Pineapple Fried Rice. Both entrees are equally delicious, but I generally go for the Pad Thai since it's such a comfort food. I've tried Pad Thais at other restaurants in the city and in Florida (where I'm from), but The Green Mango's is by far my favorite. Needless to say, it's a great restaurant, and I recommend trying any of their locations. We dine at The Green Mango about once/month, so I'm sure I'll be dining there again sometime soon!!

As a first timer, I never had legitimate Thai food, but Green Mango sure help satisfice my appetite and experience with Thai food. Likes: Their prices are very reasonable, a lot of variety for meat eaters or vegetarians, very homy atmosphere which is great for dining with a friend or company. Dislikes: The vicinity was a bit too small and compact for my liking like you're seated close in proximity to the other diners, single servings are a bit too large, their hours are confusing, and the young hostess came across as unfriendly (even during my next few visits to the business). Overall, the Green Mango has a great unfamiliar taste of Thai cuisine for those who are willing to explore new palates rather than having your typical oriental foods, which probably consists of Chinese takeout or sushi.

Jacob F.
As frequent eaters of Chinese, Thai, and Indian cuisine, the Green Mango food had excellent taste. The many varieties of tea was unexpected but good alternative. We like to go here frequently and have always been pleased. The only downside is that the meals are a little more expensive than some other places.

Really happy we got to try this place! What we sampled: Jasmine Tea (delicious and $2.00 for a personal pot! yum) Tom Kha soup with shrimp (probably the best Tom Kha I have ever had. This is my go to order that measures up all thai restaurants. The shrimp were plentiful and the soup delicious!) Spicy Noodle Hut Special with shrimp (Ok don't balk at the 10.50 price tag because seriously this could be a meal for one! It was so good and the heat was just right) Pad Thai with chicken (my fiance ordered it and couldn't finish it because of the soup, but that meant more for me :). This was very good a nice flavor and a lot of chicken) Red curry with shrimp (So good, I am actually having the left overs today) There is not a lot of time that thai food will make me gush, but I loved this restaurant. Service was prompt and the food was delicious!

My friend and I were seated in an awkward corner and waited on by two people who both seemed distracted if not completely disinterested in us. Unfortunately the Thai spring rolls were fairly boring and I've had much better chicken satay with peanut sauce elsewhere. I was really surprised by the drunken noodles. It was as if someone spilled a whole bunch of red pepper flakes all over the dish. I knew it was supposed to be hot, but I didn't expect to be choking on the dish. I was constantly crunching down on red pepper flakes. I feel like the dish could have been reasonably tasty if I could have tasted anything other than fire. Maybe I just didn't order the right things on the menu, but I probably won't be back to test that theory.

Terrible service. I ordered a Spring Roll, which I have always received fresh and not fried. Perhaps this is different than every other spring roll I've ever had elsewhere (which by the way I am Asian and have had TONS of spring rolls). I was told that I could not turn away the fried spring roll (which on the menu does not say fried, just 'crispy') and could possibly take it home as I would be 'paying for it anyway'. I told the woman that I was not aware that they were fried and not fresh and she told me regardless I would be paying for them and failed to read the menu. I have no problem reading the menu, but I did have an issue with being told I would be paying for something I did not want. I have NEVER been treated so terribly at a restaurant and told that I could not read. I will never be visiting this establishment again. If you like terrible service, this is the place! Moderate Food The food was moderate at best. It is Thai Food in Monroeville, although after being told I would have to pay for something I did not want or ordered I should've walked out.

Good Thai fast-food, but skimpy portions - at least at lunch. For an extra three dollars, I only received four pieces of shrimp. The noodles seemed heavy and soggy. My food came out about three minutes after I ordered during a fairly busy lunch hour -- which makes me think that the pre-cooked noodles get covered in pre-made sauce and sent out the door. Good for a quick fix of Thai food- not great. Angkor in Greentree is still the best in the Burgh.

Once upon a time, I lived in Regent Square. Life was good and as was the Green Mango, just a short walk away from my apartment. But, then, just like everyone else, I changed and moved away. However, I always liked the Green Mango and their awesome Pineapple Curry Chicken. Unfortunately, Regent Square chased out this great restaurant to the Monroeville area. The good news is that everything is still great. And, get this, they actually have seating room now! This is still my favorite Thai place of all the cities I've had Thai!

While we are usually Nicky's Thai fans when we are craving Thai food, I had heard that Green Mango was good and wanted to give it a try. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with what I had! For appetizers we had the Spring Rolls and Beef Somosa's. Spring Rolls were pretty good and I really liked the flavor of the Beef Somosa's. They had curry in them, along with peas and carrots, an interesting and flavorful combo. For entrees we had Drunken Noodles, Beef Pad Thai and I had the Pineapple Curry...it was amazing. The curry had just the right amount of heat and the coconut milk broth was so delicious. I would highly recommend that and will definitely be back to get it! Both the Drunken Noodles and Beef Pad Thai were also very tasty. While I still favor the atmosphere and overall experience of Nicky's more than The Green Mango, I will definitely be back when I am craving some Thai and want to stay local in the Monroeville area.

I've been here a few times now, and generally it's an A-OK place in my book. Recently though had some spicy fried rice with veggies and chicken. Very underwhelmed. Especially since I'm pretty sure they just reheated my dish as one area of the rice was ice cold :( Besides the mistake above, their drunken noodles are quite yummy and will keep me coming back.

I love the Green mango. I like this location just as much as the Regent Square location and since they are in a little shopping center it's easier to park and there's a Starbucks next door for a little after dinner latte or coffee. Their Pineapple curry is the bomb and I can barely bring myself to order anything else because I love it so much. My wife loves their Pad Thai which is slightly sweet and nothing short of amazing. Their Spring Rolls are delicious as well as pretty much any of their appetizers, I have yet to have a bad one. Its a great local Thai place with great consistant food and customer experience.

Just ordered basil eggplant and my dish came with just two pieces of eggplant. Disappointing. If this is typical of a lunch portion, skip it.

After reading all the raving reviews about this place, I decided to order some take out to try it out. I went with the classic pad thai and Spicy Pad Phet Nuea (spicy lean ground beef with bell pepper, basil, and green beans). Both dishes which I am familiar with at most Thai restaurants. The Pad Phet Nuea was more for the boyfriend since its a bit more healthier compared to other dishes on the menu. Here is my take on it, and perhaps I hold a pretty high standard for Thai food. The tofu in the classic pad thai are cut into small cubes that are fried. It was a bit dry and very chewy (as if its been sitting for a while). The flavor was a bit more plain then what I am compared to. The Pad Phet Nuea was delicious. Normally there isnt green bean in it, but I was okay with that. They do put a little more sauce so I got to mix that with rice and loved it. Otherwise, the plates are a bit pricey for Thai food in my opinion, most dishes are 11.50 to 13.50 with seafood items from 14 to 16 bucks. Good portions since I still have some leftover in the fridge for lunch tomorrow :) I MAY try to come back to this place to give it another chance, but i wasnt impressed. Also, if you need chopsticks and plastic ware for your take out, make sure you ask for it before you walk out the door!

Quick review. Not very friendly. I'd say thank you, and never receive a reply. No smiles, nothing. Spring Rolls: Dry and tasteless. Chicken Curry (Red): Awesome! Nice heat and fantastic taste. Dessert: Sticky rice. Ok, I guess. Should have ordered a mango smoothie. Decent price. Will go again for the curry.

My first Thai food experience. Awesome food. I hope my rating is justified. The spring rolls yrock. Friendly staff. I will go back soon.

Best Thai food around! I've been to this location as well as the Braddock Avenue location multiple times, as well as various other Thai restaurants in and around Pittsburgh. I'm always trying to get that perfect dish, the one that compares to the chicken basil at Green Mango! Some of my favorite dishes include: summer rolls (I always ask for spicy sauce, not the sweet one served with it), green curry with chicken, chicken basil, chang mei noodles, basil fried rice, drunken noodles, lemongrass soup, ginger tea--actually, I've never had a meal I didn't love. Neither has my family! The only complaint I have is that when they are swamped the food may arrive at various times (2 dishes, then 5 minutes later 3 dishes). But it is always hot and fresh!

Good spring rolls. Pad Prick King was great as was the Paradise Shrimp. Service was great. Really miss the one that closed in Regent Square! Don't miss the coconut ice cream for dessert.

Always a great meal at the Green Mango! This restaurant never disappoints. Some of my favorite entrees are: pumpkin or pineapple curry, pad Thai, queen tilapia, basil fried rice. We always finish a meal off with their delicious sticky rice (with mangoes when in season!). We visited here in January 2013.

I live in DC now, and anytime I'm in Pittsburgh, I stop in for Basil Fried Rice and Summer Rolls. This is my favorite Thai food in the world. I'm sad they closed all their locations in the city, and while I'll always be a fan, Monroeville makes it a lot more difficult to visit.

We wanted to try this place for a while and finally had a chance to stop in for lunch with my wife. The service was a little slow but very friendly. We had two appetizers the Samosas and the spring rolls. Those were crispy and tasty. Unfortunately the Pad Thai was not up to our expectations. We've been to almost every Thai restaurant in Pittsburgh and this Pad Thai ranks near the bottom. Next time I would try the curry as I'm sure they have other entrees that are better.

We went to The Green Mango for the first time today. We were there for lunch and the menu seemed pretty extensive. We ordered the spring rolls and samosas and the tom yum soup. The appetizers were a little oily but tasted fine, nothing extraordinary. The soup was pretty good, especially on a cold winter. Me and my husband shared a vegetarian spicy basil fried rice and it was pretty good. The one thing I wasn't impressed about was the service. We were seated at a two person table in the corner which was pretty cramped to begin with. Within 2 minutes of getting our soup and appetizers we got our fried rice. By the time we finished with our appetizers and moved on to the fried rice, it got cold. They should have waited till we were done with the first course to get the entree out. We also ordered some hot ginger tea. While the tea was very flavorful, the sugar was pre added and we usually don't take sugar with our tea. Overall, the food was decent and so were the prices and portions. I would definitely go back hoping for a little better service.

Ling, your food is beyond good. It is amazing!!! My three teenager girls now want to go for their birthdays. Thanks for the salad you surprised me with! You deserve 100 stars. Your place is worth every cent. I know everything is original, fresh and delectable. Thanks for your passion!!!!!!!

I went to The Green Mango on Friday for dinner and had a wonderful time. My husband and I started out with the spring rolls for an appetizer. They were perfectly cooked and packed full of flavor. The skin was crispy and the veggies inside were fresh. For dinner, I had the Shrimp Pad Thai and my husband had the Basil Chicken. Both meals were awesome! I normally order Pad Thai whenever we eat at a Thai restaurant, but this one was by far the best I have ever had. My husband also really enjoyed his meal.

Very good Thai food! I always go for the Panang Tofu (lightly fried). The spring rolls are awesome, and they have great bubble drinks! Prices are good and it's a convenient and clean location.

The day before going here, I went to the Smiling Banana Leaf, and because of it, i needed to find a Thai restaurant near my house. That is when I found the Green Mango. I am a fan, but it did not compare to the Smiling Banana Leaf. First off, there was no peanut sauce, which disappointed me. However, the food was very good. I got the seafood delight, and it was a decent portion and was very good. It was very dead when I went, but it seems like a place that could get hopping on a Friday night. I am going to have to go back on a Friday or Saturday. PLEASE GET PEANUT SAUCE.

Great food and pretty cheap. I have had over a dozen different items from their and all were great. I always start out with summer rolls.

I was hungry. I was in Monroeville, which is why I choose The Green Mango. I arrived around 4 pm which was when the lunch menu was in effect. The prices were around 7 dollars a plate and there was a ton to choose from. I got the fried rice with chicken and an order of spring rolls. I am not big on Thai, so I had to pick something which I knew I would like. The spring rolls were delicious. The dipping sauce was heaven. The fried rice was nothing special and the chicken tasted like it was left over from something else they cooked earlier in the day. The service here is great and the business is very clean. The only things I did not like about this place were they do not have Coke/Pepsi products, and that there was a bee problem where I sat. Jay ended up killing 2 bee's while we were there. I am sure if there was a Yelp insect badge he would have earned it at the Green Mango.

This place is delicious! I love that they don't ask how hot you want the food. The noodles are great and the Tom Yum soup is hands down the best I have ever had. The restaurant is clean and the staff is wonderful.

Really good! I was in town visiting relatives and was super surprised by how delicious the food was at green mango. The duck summer rolls were great, especially with their house sauce, the chicken in all the chicken dishes we had was super tender and flavorful. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant. As a FYI, the restaurant is byob (which surprised us).

Doesn't the name just scream awesome? (Yes, Cate, it does.) I'm a huge fan of The Green Mango not only because of the name but because both the food and service are equally wonderful. I ordered the Satay for an appetizer, Chicken Pad Thai for my main dish, and a Thai Iced Tea for my beverage. Everything tasted wonderful. I've been to enough Thai restaurants to know what's good. My waiter made sure I was taken care of and was helpful with recommendations. I was full at the end of my meal but wanted seconds mainly so I could experience goodness all over again. This is another one of my favorite spots!

This is really some of the best Thai you can find in Pittsburgh. The food is consistently top notch and it's reasonably priced. The service is excellent and very consistent. I almost always order the Tofu Pad Thai because it's fantastic, but the Jasmine Fried Rice is also very good and the spring rolls are some of my favorites that I've had anywhere. This restaurant seems to do more take out business than eat in, so there's very rarely a wait for a table. Definitely worth stopping by!

My lady and I stopped at this restaurant after finding that our intended destination in Monroeville closed for renovations. The reviews on Yelp were good so we figured why not stop here since we were so close. The prices here were fair for lunch and I definitely didn't feel like we over payed. I'm no expert on Thai, but this wasn't my first Thai rodeo either. Their spring rolls were terrific and the sauce that came with them, which they say is an in house recipe, was good as well. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and I liked it, but at the same time wish I ordered something else on the menu that I may have liked more. It was good, but it certainly didn't live up to the shining reviews I had read just ten minutes earlier. I didn't see the actual dinner menu, but I'm assuming that it's laid out the same way it is on their website, which was organized by type of dish. Unfortunately their lunch menu could really use some revamping in terms of how it is laid out. The descriptions are nice, but there seems to be no order to the way they're listed. It's just a bunch of entrees thrown onto a piece of laminated paper. It's not a huge deal, but after seeing their website and then being handed a menu that looked like it was from a completely different restaurant was a little odd. If I were stuck in Monroeville for some reason and someone told me I had to eat at the mall food court or The Green Mango, I'd probably choose The Green Mango, but if I were at home and given the option of a ten minute drive to McDonalds or the hour trip to The Green Mango, I'd order a couple McChicken sandwiches and a small fry. Because I feel it's worth noting, The Green Mango does not serve alcohol, but BYOB is fine and there is no corking fee.

Awesome Thai restaurant...a Mecca of delicious Thai cuisine in a region of Pittsburgh that's almost completely occupied by chain restaurants. At the Green Mango, service is friendly and prompt, food is delicious and the decor is simple and clean. I come here as often as I can.

Decent Thai place with basic offerings. The Green Mango scores high for offering a distinct alternative to all the crappy chains in the area. For me their fare is watered down for the western palate.

This is one of my favorite "ethnic" Pittsburgh restaurants. The waitstaff are always pleasant and quick. They have several appetizers, such as spring and summer rolls, fried tofu with peanut sauce, and satay. My friends and I usually get one to share before moving on to the main course. If I'm in a hurry or not very hungry, I simply order the delicious Tom Kha (soup with coconut milk) with shrimp and a side of rice. It is cheap and is fantastic if you have a cold. Some of my favorite dinner entrees are the tofu Lak Sa (a noodle dish with yellow curry and coconut milk), the pumpkin curry with beef, and the drunken noodles. All are flavorful, reasonably priced, and large servings! I always take something home. A word of caution, thai food can be spicy so order carefully if you get heartburn. The Green Mango has a nice selection of teas that they serve to you in an individual pot at your table. Their smoothies are also very good!

Definitely 5 stars!!! Each and every time we stop here we always leave happy. What's nice about this place is the menu & the price. If your not sure about what something is, just ask, everyone here is always friendly and glad to help. My boyfriend is a huge curry fan, he has ordered a few different ones, but his favorite is the Pumpkin Curry. My #1 pick is the Drunken Noodles w\ shrimp. Just be aware, If the menu states a dinner as spicy be sure you specify how spicy you want your meal to be. The drunken noodles is definitely a spicy one! And last but not least, my favorite part about coming here is the Bubble Tea! They have several flavors to choose from & are made to perfection each time. I really enjoy the Honeydew & coconut flavors.

I've been here a number of times and never been disappointed. The panang curry is delicious, very creamy and flavorful. The red and green curries are also pretty good. Atmosphere-wise, it's a simple, laid-back restaurant. The decor is nicely done with pictures from areas in Asia. The staff are friendly and courteous.

Awsome Thai food and Thai tea. Most authentic Thai food I have had up here. Prices are very reasonable the restaurant is well kept and quiet they offer BYOB and no un quirking fee. I got the pad Thai reg and on a second occasion I got is spicy and yes they can turn up the heat no prob and still maintain the flavor!!!

We used the Green Mango to cater a party we threw and we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience - or the food! Chef Ling personally cooked all the food herself and even threw in a few extras for free. She was collegial in working on a menu that fit our budget, and her staff kindly helped walk all the food to my car in the cold. Though our guests finished much of the food (including the persimmon sticky rice -- too bad for us!), what was left to us we found delicious, fresh, and flavorful.

We finally tried this spot last evening and were quite impressed. I had the pumpkin curry which I liked lot, and my wife had the King Beef which is truly "fit for a king" (thus the name that Ling Robinson gave her sauce). Portion sizes were a bit on the large size, but not too large (especially when you can take home a doggie bag and make a delicious lunch out of the King Beef)! BYOB is a plus. Ling spent quite a bit of time at our table talking and recommending things for us to try. Service is a bit laid back, so I you're in a hurry, go elsewhere. We shall return!

Nice, laid-back restaurant with good food in a basic strip mall. It is sandwiched between a microbrewery and a Starbucks, but aren't the hidden gems always in strip malls? Food was good and filling. The waitress was attentive when she needed to be and unobtrusive otherwise. We all had a hard time selecting from the fairly extensive menu but eventually decided on a chicken pad thai, a green curry with chicken, and a tofu dish with eggplant and bell peppers (it appears the menu on the website is a bit out-of-date). Food arrived promptly. Other reviews had mentioned that the tofu is made in house; whether it is or not, it was really good, crispy on the outside and light as air. I didn't think there was quite enough eggplant, but I could eat eggplant all day every day so that isn't saying much. Another review had mentioned that the fish sauce was overpowering in the pad thai, but aside from the first bite, it was reported that it was not noticeable. The green curry also went over well, but the spring rolls were not the best I've ever had - the outside was a little too thick and the filling a little sparse. Thai iced teas were pretty good. My only gripe was that the appetizers seemed pricey. I wondered how many they were meant to serve - a 6-piece order of samosas, for example, might be great for a group of friends out on the town, but for the suburban strip-mall atmosphere, it seems like it would make more sense to pare down the size and price accordingly, as the biggest group I saw at the restaurant was a family of four. Overall, I enjoyed the restaurant and while I may not return to this specific location, I will probably check out the Regent's Square location. If this location is closer to you, I would definitely recommend.

Great food and atmosphere. I've only done lunch here and its quick and really good - can get in and out in 45 minutes for under 10 bucks a person. Reccomend the classic pad thai. Not overrun at lunch like many crazy lunch experiences.
(5)Tracy C.
(5)Keith H.
Another user asked what the spice level of my dish was. The waitress never asked or told me. Based on my own scale of 1-10 I would have to say it was a 6 if you ate the sauce by itself, but only about a 4 mixed with the rice and meat.
(5)Maggie J.

(5)Kevin D.
(4)Kim S.
This place had fantastic food - home made tofu and lovely stuff in general. I had take-out the last 2 times I was there as I was in the area for work and had stuff to do back at my hotel room.
(5)Courtney C.
i randomly went to this restaurant for the first time last week after driving out of the city for a doctor's appointment. i love thai food and haven't found many good ones in pittsburgh, so i figured i'd try it out. i went for lunch... they have an extensive lunch menu, all entrees under $10. I had the bangkok spicy vegetable curry- very good. two days later, i went back again and ordered the spicy coconut soup... BEST noodle soup. I can't wait to go back, even though I have to drive 30 minutes to get there.
(4)Anthony B.
(3)Teresa Z.
(4)Chris H.
(2)Lyon K.
I used to eat here all the time, stopped in, all my food was bland. They took it back, tried to fix it but only made it worse. They insisted numerous times I take something home and despite saying no they kept insisting on a dish, and then CHARGED me for it. I don't recommend going, and I won't be back.
(1)Madeline N.
(4)Shaan B.
Great lunch spot. Good clean food and great flavor and great prices. Typical plate is $8-12.
(3)Brenda W.
(2)Nicole B.
(3)Anil P.
The basil fried rice is amazing here. Will return for sure. The basil chicken is good too!!!
(5)Erin B.
By far my favorite Thai place. Dare I say, best summer rolls in PA? Green curry is also delicious. One word of advice, if you're traveling on business, they don't take AMEX, visa and MasterCard only.
(5)John P.
Went here yesterday... I used to go here more often back in the day. This place used to be much better. It has really gone down hill. We got some sort of chicken curry dish which was very dry and bland and pretty lame. We also got fried rice and it was pretty lame. Overall, not very impressive.
(2)Ling X.
(4)Brittany G.
(2)Vinny A.
(3)Anna N.
I tried different Thai food restaurants in the Pittsburgh area but this one is by far my favorite one. I love all things I've tried there. Every single dish is authentic. Prices are reasonable and stuff is always courteous and mindful. Love it.
(5)Krystin P.
(3)Carley D.
(2)Samantha G.
One of my favorite restaurants of all time. The food is always consistently amazing and the staff there is one of a kind! You can't go wrong with any of the curries (the pineapple curry is my favorite) and the phuket fried rice! Hands down the best thai food in Pittsburgh.
(5)Susan T.
The service is the wild card, but sometimes they are just that busy. . .
(4)pracheta t.
Nothing about this place disappoints! The food is excellent, fresh and I wish I could eat here more often. It is pretty far from where we live but we happened to be in the area and I'm really glad we were able to have dinner here. The service is quick and friendly.
(4)Kathy D.
(4)Kevin S.
(4)D S.
Freakin fantastic!! I always order to go and it's always there when I pick up. (And they never forget my silverware). :)
(5)Doug S.
Ate lunch here on Thursday. Haven't visited in a few months so went with my favorite dish, Roasted Duck Curry. It was all that I expected, awesome!! So flavorful and even thought the dish is labeled 'spicy' it only has a little bite.
(5)Gary R.
HA!

One of the better Pittsburgh Thai .... great family owned and operation place.
(5)Mark P.

(4)Amanda P.
Came here for lunch. I started with an amazing spicy Thai soup. It was so flavorful and just the perfect amount of spice. Great way to warm up. Next I ordered the pad thai. It was very good. I definitely recommend this place.
(4)Christine M.
Excellent food, excellent service, just excellent all around!
(5)Chuck W.
(4)Ben R.

Worst thai fried rice i hav ever tasted.chicken was burned n rice was not at all seems to be fresh.never going back.
(1)Elle B.

(1)Nicholas S.
(5)David S.
I've been going here for years. Excellent food and great service. Staff is always friendly and I've never had a bad meal. Parking can be trying at times. I recommend the seafood delight In basil sauce..
(5)Jennifer G.
(3)Sonia M.

Delicious authentic food!! My whole family loves it and the service is a little slow but very kind people!

(5)Tiffany N.
(3)Jacob F.
As frequent eaters of Chinese, Thai, and Indian cuisine, the Green Mango food had excellent taste. The many varieties of tea was unexpected but good alternative. We like to go here frequently and have always been pleased. The only downside is that the meals are a little more expensive than some other places.
(4)Sharon F.
(4)Sara L.
(2)Pranesh V.
The ginger tofu and basil fried rice are great! Their Thai iced tea is a bit too sweet and has a weird taste to it. Overall, it's a good place!

(1)Kurt A.

(5)Kaleigh L.

(3)Will B.
(5)Christina L.
Just ordered basil eggplant and my dish came with just two pieces of eggplant. Disappointing. If this is typical of a lunch portion, skip it.
(2)Angie L.

(3)Mark A.
My first Thai food experience. Awesome food. I hope my rating is justified. The spring rolls yrock. Friendly staff. I will go back soon.
(5)J D.
(5)Mary Lou B.
Good spring rolls. Pad Prick King was great as was the Paradise Shrimp. Service was great. Really miss the one that closed in Regent Square! Don't miss the coconut ice cream for dessert.
(4)Jason D.
(4)Rachael H.
(5)C B.
NYC Girl looking for authentic thai food in Pgh - stumbled across this place and loved it ! Curry, flat noodles , Tom yum soup = excellent ! Definitely what I expected !
(4)Adam K.
(2)Maya M.
(3)David V.
(5)Steph K.
(5)Jen L.
Very good Thai food! I always go for the Panang Tofu (lightly fried). The spring rolls are awesome, and they have great bubble drinks! Prices are good and it's a convenient and clean location.
(4)Tony J.
(4)Kevin M.
Great food and pretty cheap. I have had over a dozen different items from their and all were great. I always start out with summer rolls.
(5)Rikki M.
(3)Rachel N.
This place is delicious! I love that they don't ask how hot you want the food. The noodles are great and the Tom Yum soup is hands down the best I have ever had. The restaurant is clean and the staff is wonderful.
(5)Marjorie R.
(4)James F.
Thai food, the best i have had stateside. Great service with friendly faces.
(4)Cate G.
(5)Melissa F.
(5)Victoria C.
Great masama!
(4)Jay B.
(3)Trixie B.
Awesome Thai restaurant...a Mecca of delicious Thai cuisine in a region of Pittsburgh that's almost completely occupied by chain restaurants. At the Green Mango, service is friendly and prompt, food is delicious and the decor is simple and clean. I come here as often as I can.
(4)Jason J.
Decent Thai place with basic offerings. The Green Mango scores high for offering a distinct alternative to all the crappy chains in the area. For me their fare is watered down for the western palate.
(2)Becky Z.
(5)Jenn W.

This is a Thai restaurant. It serves Thai food. That's about it. Enjoy. Or not.
