"...Pulled into Plumsteadville, I was feelin' about half passed dead. Just need some place where I can lay my head. Say, sister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed? She just grinned, shook her head. 'No,' was all she said..." (With apologies to Bob Dylan) It may have been the heat of a near-100 degree day, or maybe the high humidity that seemed to choke the breath out of every living being, but here I was in Plumsteadville feeling slightly desert crazed and in need of hydration and restoration. The Inn materialized in front of me, a shimmering apparition. Real or not, I was stopping in for a drink and lunch. Perhaps, it was my gaunt appearance when I walked into the barroom, but it seemed no one saw me as I sat down on a corner stool. I allowed the dim coolness to resuscitate me. Finally, a bartender saw me there and came over to see what, "...it'll be." "Summer Shandy and a Bison Burger, medium, please." "I didn't see you come in, stranger. How long you been sittin' there?" "Since breakfast, but I blend in." My wink let her off the hook. From then on the service was first rate from all the black & white servers, complete with sides of small talk and Potato Salad. The Summer Shandy hit my thirsty spot dead center. It was difficult not to just gulp it down it felt/tasted so good. That squirt of lemon in the beer was an elixir. My Bison Burger Special came out closer to medium rare, but I was pleased with it, as it was full on juicy and a deep rose color. The pile of Shaved Onion, Cheese, and BBQ Sauce on Brioche Roll made for an excellent sandwich. Knife and fork was the only way to go, and allowed me to pay attention to every morsel. It was quite good. The scoop of Potato Salad was a cool change from fries. If not for the fact that I had a ways to go before the day was over, I might have lingered over a second or third drink, and become friends with the attractive keepers. I had to face the withering heat regardless of my wish to avoid it. Luckily, there was an ice cream barn right in the parking lot that was about it receive my dessert business. More on that in another review. The lunch had an epic feel to it due to the surrounding circumstance, but based on the food alone I feel no urgency to visit again. It was a solid meal, but it would have attained higher rank if the bar folk had been initially more attentive as they busied themselves with prep work for the evening crowd. The invisibility may have been part of the existential void I felt coming in, but they played their part in extending that sense longer than necessary. Still, a worthy stop on the stagecoach line between Easton and Philadelphia.

Nice decor inside. The kids Mac & Cheese was really good. Ordered the chicken parmigiana that was excellent. The French dip sandwich is sliced prime rib and is really good. This is the first time we were ever asked how we wanted the liver cooked. We ordered it medium and it was the first time we had liver that was really tender and not tough at all. It was succulent & delicious. Fantastic service too. This will definitely be a regular spot for us.

The worst service I ever exp. Food was ok...good fries....although, I will never spend a dime at this establishment out of princible. This place does not care about their customers. Very disappointing considering all the remodeling done to open the place back up. Once seated waiting 15 min until someone greeted my family. Once the order was taken waited another 15 min for drinks, although...had to hunt down a bus boy to get the drinks. Once food arrive we never seen our waitress again. They simply do not care. Do not waste ur time or money.

We went for dinner and ate in the dining room. It was early on a Friday so we were the only customers in the dining room for awhile. We overlooked the outdoor patio which had a DJ. Outdoor flowers were a great view. Clams casino were amazing. I highly recommend trying them. Surf and turf was good and the filet was cooked exactly how I ordered. Someone in my group ordered scampi in a butter/garlic sauce( modified from menu) but it tasted like a wine sauce. Everyone at our table enjoyed the fresh food and surroundings. We'll be back

Very nice atmosphere with good beer and good food. If you like history this is a historic inn with just an overall cool experience. I had the meatloaf and it was very tasty. Make it a point to come here.

Had a casual dinner with my parents in the less-formal bar area on Saturday night. I had no major complaints about our meal or experience. My parents had been before, so they recommended the burgers. We started with an order of onion petals (think a Bloomin' Onion that has been pulled apart) - which was good (I mean, it's fried onions, it can't be bad.) For my meal, I ordered the Bavarian burger. I was drawn to the sauerkraut & pretzel bun aspects of it. The burger itself was pretty good. A decent sized patty that was cooked to my liking. The pretzel bun was a great touch, too. The burger also came topped with whole grain mustard. I like mustard a lot, but this was about 1/4 cup of whole grain mustard on my bun. I should have just scraped half/most of it off, but I didn't. It was just.... so much mustard. Our server was really nice and our food came out very quickly. I was impressed with how big the menu is, going far beyond just fries & burgers.

Came here for a double date with friends who live in NJ. This was a halfway point for us in PA. We were actually a little worried when we pulled up that we weren't dressed well enough! Very pretty building, well kept, but felt at home in snappy casual (jeans, nice top, bottom down for him) too. Menu was extensive, drinks were good and reasonably priced. As our friends put it "this could be our spot". We got a blueberry smash (like a mojito) and a watermelon martini. For dinner we had a special mushroom ravioli with shrimp and bay scallops and asparagus. He got gemelli with vodka sauce. Both were great. Service was lovely. All around a very nice dining experience.

Stayed here over night for a wedding. There was loud live music playing until 11 pm both nights from the bar and some sort of "funk" sponsored by the inn happening in several of the hotel rooms. There were dirty towels in the room, and the lobby smells like a gym locker room. Upside is the beds are comfortable.

I'll restrict my comments to lunch - since my dinner experiences are limited for Plumbsteadville Inn. Lunch - always a nice specials list. I enjoy lunch here several times a week. Stirring at the bar is pleasant - Rene, Freddie, Deanne and Marina will usually be quick with a beer and a smirk. Highly recommended-

We have heard it's under new management. We went here with a group of 8 people Saturday afternoon for lunch and I was a little skeptical going into it, as i've read some of the reviews. But I, and the rest of my group were beyond happy. We had a great server, who was attentive and always there when you needed her. Two thumbs up there. As an appetizer our group had french onion soup (tasty!), calamari (cooked perfectly and the ringlets weren't too large!) and Spinach-artichoke dip which came with pita chips which also smelled divine. Our entrees were divine, and it wasn't that expensive. 9 dollars no upcharge for fries with a Porky Picker (or something rather) pulled pork sandwich. The roll was fabulous and the pulled pork, was so tender and tasty! My boyfriend had the buffalo Chicken wrap which he said tasted great, and he ate it pretty fast. Some people had salads, which also looked quite appetizing. One thing I will say, is the water is disgusting (even with lemon!!), we had to all upgrade to different beverages because it was so bad.

Had dinner here last night... My wife had a French Dip with homemade potato chips...quite possibly the best sandwich on the planet. I had the steak and cake dinner, which was very tasty but small portion.... For dessert my wife had a chocolates cake with chocolate mousse.... Extremely tasty.... I had the bread pudding.... Which was excellent... Server was very accommodating and was attentive... Will definitely eat there again!

Looking at a lot of the reviews the Plumsteadville Inn, I'm hoping that I'm writing to inform Yelp readers that this place has made a tremendous turnaround - or we got incredibly lucky. Either way, we had a fantastic experience here for dinner. We stopped by after work to check this place out, since I've only spent 8 years driving by this place without stopping in it was about time. Inside, this place is spacious. A large dining room, bar area, bar dining room, and we didn't even see the second floor - assuming there's more space up there. On the top floor they at least have an outdoor area for cigar smokers to light one while enjoying their cocktail. In addition, they have a nice outdoor seating area near the entrance with a fountain and several tables. For the lazy "worker bee" this place is one that is uncommonly open Mondays. The bar dining area is lined with large (55-60 inch) flat screen television sets to watch your favorite sporting events. They had live music when we stopped in to eat at 6:00 on a Wednesday, an indicator of frequent live music at the establishment. They have a good feature and signature cocktail menu, a respectable wine list, and an OK draft and bottle beer list (mostly consisting of macro brews, with a few microbrews here and there). My girlfriend had the "Bitch Fight" cocktail from their signature menu, it was refreshing and tangy. As for the food menu, it's robust. A lot of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pub fare, pastas, and meats in their own nicely organized sections on the menu. We had the lobster mac and cheese and bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers. The lobster mac and cheese was extremely creamy with some nice chunks of lobster. The scallops were done nicely with a crisp bacon wrapping and a mustard sauce; they were very enjoyable. For entrees we both ordered some "comfort food" from the bar menu. I had the chicken pot pie and my girlfriend the liver. Both dishes were quickly prepared and delicious. The chicken pot pie lacked a crispy crust, but cooked the roux out of the crust as to not corrupt the flavor. The dish had generous pieces of chicken and was very good. For the liver, the dish was topped with generous pieces of pancetta, adding to the flavor. It got very positive feedback from my girlfriend. The service here was incredible. Michael, our server, did a stellar job and purposefully stopped by at all the right times during the service: greeting, drinks, dinner order, after each dish served was served to ask about quality, and for refills. He was pleasant and one of the best servers we've had in a while. Overall, a very pleasant experience and we'll likely return. The value for the price is excellent, and you'll find the serving sizes are large.

Went here on a whim a week or so ago for a weekend lunch, and after reading the mixed reviews, we decided to give it a try anyway. Really enjoyed it, I love the atmosphere of a local inn, with that colonial stone feel to it. Decent tap list with a couple craft options, good poutine, dry meatloaf, wine flights... I'd totally come here again, but probably not for the meatloaf. Solid friendly service in a nice atmosphere, I'd definitely come back.

Went for Mother's Day brunch...messed up the reservation time and divided our party of 8 into two tables. Strike 1. Buffet was ok but not for $25/head. For the price, mediocre, overcooked, poorly seasoned food. Dry turkey at the carving station and, 'freshly made waffles' under a sunlamp. Coffee took 15 minutes to arrive, 15!! Bad. Bad. Bad. A bright spot? Our server was AMAZING. I'm sure she had a long day dealing with the overcrowded room conditions, demands, etc. but with all those challenges she remained pleasant and so accomodating. Shame the rest of the experience didn't come close to her hospitality. Advice? Slow down. Treat your customers like humans, not cattle. Serve nicely prepared and seasoned food, not steaming trays of mass produced product. (Stouffers can do it for a 10th of the price) Don't overbook, respect the reservation times of customers. And finally, don't look at them like they have two heads when a party of 8 wants to sit together, not separated into two tables across the aisle from each other.

My family and I dinned at the Plumsteadville Inn tonight in honor of my Mom's birthday. There were 5 of us. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. This isn't our first time dining at the Plumsteadville Inn and each time noise has been an issue and that trend continued tonight. Granted it wasn't quite as loud as it had been before, but it will still tough to hear what my grandfather was saying from across the small round table. At one point a staff member actually turned on music! I glared at my Mom and with my eyes said you've got to be kidding me! Thankfully someone must have complained because it was quickly turned off. The decor is outdated and reminds me of a dinning hall in a retirement community. But let's get to the food...everyone was pleased! We each had a salad or cup of soup. My salad was basic but well done. For dinner I ordered the Pub Steak - flat iron steak with mushrooms, bleu cheese, and a demi glace with baked potato and green beans. The steak was cooked perfectly at a medium doneness. It was slightly chewy but I was happy with it. Other entrees ordered were: broiled scallops, roast duck (tasted just like chicken thighs to me), fish and chips, and trout. Courtney was our server and she did a nice job.

Well, that was a dinner I wish I could take back. I ordered the swordfish special, which usually means you get the freshest food when you order a special- or so they say? The food I received was the least fresh seafood I have ever eaten. What I predict is that it was a frozen filet in plastic that was boiled, because there was no browning or grill marks on the fish. It was rubbery and tasteless. It added up to over $20 dollars. The greeting staff were very peculiar upon our arrival and seemed to think we were weird for showing up. Or at least we bothered them from zoning out. At least the waitress was a sweetheart. I would pass on this restaurant and just go to Doylestown where there are many amazing restaurants.

We used to frequent this resturant often but had not been there since it re-opened. So I decided to take my husband here to brunch for his birthday to try the "new place." When I called for reservations I was asked if I wanted the "casual or formal dining room." Since it was his birthday I asked for the formal room thinking it would be nicer. In fact, I asked for the porch which I was told was part of the formal dining. This was a joke. The noise level was horrible - we couldn't hear ourselves talk to each other. "Formal dining???" When I mentioned something to our waitress she basically had an "I don't care" attitide. She didn't offer to move us or do anything even though she knew we weren't happy. That was bad enough - now to the food. Nothing on the brunch table was labelled and some things were hard to tell what they were because the room was dark. They had a carving station with pork loin which was very dry; the bagels were pre-sliced and extremely dried out; the beef stew (we are guessing that's what it was) had very little beef in it; the chicken dish was very dried out - I could go on and on. Needless to say, it will be a long time before we go back again. We were very disappointed in the waitress attitude and the food.

I'm confused why the Plumsteadville Inn has rated so low on Yelp. I'm local and have dined here many times recently. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and they have a nice wine and beer selection, especially for this area. Plus, they make the BEST French onion soup anywhere! I'm a fan.

We had dijnner there on Saturday night. There were 9 of us and there was something wrong with everyone's dinner. Two prime ribs came out luke warm (tell you later about that), two pasta dishes came with the wrong noodle (asked the waitress and she told us we were wrong - it was the right noodle and it wasn't- she then told us that they ran out of angel hair pasta, pasta with chicken parm was not hot, macaroni and cheese for my grandson was bland and no taste - he didn't eat it, chicken marsala lacking something, and my dish was okay not alot of vegetables for a vegetarian dish. We called over the manager who was the general manager and he told us that prime rib is served at room temperature. He was not at all sorry and did nothing to make us happy. The water, coffee, etc. never got refilled unless we flagged down the waitress. She was not at all nice or helpful. One prime rib was sent back and it came out 2 minutes later - the same piece only it was microwaved (we were told that) and the other prime rib was sent back with instructions not to microwave and send out a new piece. By the time it came, we were all done. We decided not to order dessert even though we were celebrating 2 birthdays that evening. When we got the check nothing was taken off for all the problems but the 15% was automatically added on for the waitress. The manager was not at all apologic and lacked management skills. None of the party plan to return to this restaurant.

Actually no stars!! My husband, daughter, son-law-and myself decided to try the Inn again since we heard it had reopened. In the past the dining had been enjoyable and the food was good not excellent, though. I called for an 8:00pm reservation for a booth on a Saturday recently. The girl who answered said there would be no problem with the time and getting a booth. I called back just to confirm they had transferred the liquor license and the girl said ( and this floored me) "What is a liquor license?" When we arrived 3 girls were trying to decifer the screen for reservations?? To get to the point --a party of 4 in the bar decided to sit in our booth--no one asked for the reservation name and thus dinner was served, etc. to them--meanwhile we were told we would have to wait an hour or more. The girls seemed not to care very much and their inexperience was very disappointing. The noise level was high--people were milling around unable to get a seat--teenagers were in and out of the front door?? maybe a private party was going on--when we were finally seated at 9:15pm we were hungry and not too choosy. Food was so-so, bread never arrived until we were 1/2 way though dinner even though we asked repeatedly, drinks were ordered together but arrived sporadically. Waitress seemed obivious to our plight. I would not recommend this place --I don't think they will stay open for very long. Save your money for a place who "cares".

The Plumsteadville Inn is an 18Th Century Bed & Breakfast, with a restaurant, a pub, banquet facilities and of course rooms for overnight guests. We dined here several times, when we used to utilize the Entertainment book. If you go to their website, before going to eat, you can download a 20% off coupon. They have a very nice menu with some great choices. I could personally eat off the appetizer menu and be happy. With selections like clams casino, oysters rockefeller, escargot, stuffed mushrooms. Lots more, but those are the ones, I would pick. I would also have their known for cream of mushroom soup. They have soups, salads, sandwiches, steaks, poultry, lamb, veal, duck, and plenty of seafood choices. They say their burger is pure ground filet mignon. If I can get past the appetizers, I'll try it and let you know or better yet, have my hubby order it and snag a bite! The food is good and the service is attentive. Prices are a bit high. Check them out @: theplumsteadvilleinn.com

Went back tonight to try again. We went opening weekend and the nite was so messed up that the manager came over to apologize and comped us the meal. Since that was back in January, we thought we'd give it another chance. We ordered drinks, which were great and reasonably priced. My husband ordered a filet mignon done medium and a Caesar salad. I ordered a shrimp and pasta dish with a side salad. The restaurant started to get busy, and the waitress got several tables at once. My husband finished his drink, and I sipped mine. No bread, no salad, no second drink due to no waitress. The next thing we know, our meal arrived. I asked the server if we could have our salad with the meal, and someone brought over bread and salad. The waitress came a bit later, and my husband finally ordered a second drink. As he ate his steak, he found the middle was uncooked, not rare, uncooked! When the waitress returned with his drink, he asked her to take the steak back, and I asked for a plate to share my meal. The waitress questioned him, saying he ordered it medium rare, and finally took it away. After that, she was even more difficult to find! When she did come back, she said she had the manager take his meal off the bill. She really wasn't nice about it, as though we were just complainers. Oh well, there are so many places nearby, I suggest trying somewhere else. For what it's worth, my meal was good, but the service and the raw steak still ruined the night.

I'm a fan.

pretty good! Fun place. We had the chicken salad and chicken pot pie. The pot pie was really good. I thought the cocktails were average, but good. Loved the off street parking and was very comfortable.

I was just informed by a FB friend that Plumsteadville Inn closed in December 2009. What a shame.
