Wasko's is a great food shop. It's one of those places that are constantly remembered, but unfortunately dying in a more fast-paced world. I had a prime rib sandwich, and spoke to the clerk inside for a few about my time here so far--he could tell I wasn't from Phoenixville, lol; just because I was so astounded by my surroundings and the breath taking calm, and beauty on a Wednesday afternoon. When I got home, I ripped into my sandwich, and it was delicious. Crazy delicious! I wish they were open later, a close friend/Phoenixvillian (lol) said they had wonky hours...I really wanna eat there all night though =]

Just got a couple of zeps for Wasko's and it was just like I took a trip back in time. One of the benefits of growing up where I did is that Norristown was the birthplace of zeps and Eve's Zeps were always the standard set for all other zep makers. Wasko's studied their zep making very well because the meats & provolone were perfect. The bread was bakery fresh (probably Conshy Rolls or Collegeville Bakery) and perfect. But the best part (and key in my mind) is the fresh tomatoes and onions because when you season the zep and it mixes with the juices from the tomatoes and onions it turns into an explosion of taste in your mouth. That's what I remember when I was young and that's what they delivered at Wasko's. My new favorite sandwich joint. Yum!

I've lived near this place for 2.5 years and I didn't manage to get there until today due to my work schedule and their somewhat limited hours. Boy, was I missing out! Friendly service and I got an awesome roast pork and sharp provolone sandwich. Great roll, the pork was tender and juicy and the cheese was perfect. I can't wait to go back!

Went here for lunch with some coworkers. The place isn't much to look at on the inside or out but it's definitely a don't judge a book by its cover situation. I got a hot roast pork sandwich with provolone and long hots. I have to say that it was pretty amazing. My coworkers were pleased with their sandwiches too. My only complaint is that the guy behind the counter could be a bit more hospitable. He seemed a tad cold and aloof with us. So it seems they've got sandwiches as good as you'll get at some Philly joints, and a bit of a Philly attitude to boot. He wasn't rude so I can deal with it. The place is not much to look at, the menu is limited, the hours are brief and there's almost no seating in the place (about enough for like 8 people tops) but once people try the sandwiches here they'll come back regardless because hey, this food is stinking good!

Again the best roast pork sandwich. It's so good, it is the the only thing I order from there. Get the long hot peppers with it!

Super tasty!!! I had them cater my housewarming party with Caesar Salad, Pasta Salad, and hot pork sandwiches. They were so reasonably priced, utterly delicious, and included every side that I could possibly need. People raved about them the whole night, and I hope I did a good job of turning a few more people on to them!

I have been driving past this place for years and always was going to stop in and try it out. I did so earlier this year and have been back a dozen times. I have picked up sandwiches for coworkers who can't believe how good the sandwiches are. Pork is the best. The prime rib my wife loves. My daughter's favorite is 3 lil pigs - pork, ham, bacon with Swiss. We has 5 sandwiches yesterday and homemade potato salad. Very good. Stop by and you will be returning again and again Keep up the good work Jim

I have to agree with others who were turned off by the smell. I want to smell either roast pork, or nothing at all. It wasn't pleasant and it threw me off my game enough to render me unable to generate a quick, plausible excuse to moonwalk out of the place. I got a roast pork sandwich, but could not take more than a bite It rolled around in my mouth like an unwelcome guest. What sucked is that the sandwich actually smelled awesome, but I couldn't get over the smell thing.

Really good sandwich, had the pork with sharp cheddar and peppers. Bread was very fresh, sandwich was juicy but bread held up well without falling apart. Thought it might need some condiments, I was wrong. The place was empty when I went in, but service was quick. Only caveat is they only take cash.

Atmosphere is NOT going to win this place any prizes. It's a hole-in-the-wall place on the corner of a nondescript street. But the FOOD...oh...the FOOD... Forget what you see on all the travel channels. This is the BEST roast pork/sharp provolone/broccoli rabe sandwich I've yet had (Yes, I've been to D'Nics). And the prime rib is amazing. That man is a genius. Do yourself a favor and get a sandwich or twelve. But take out, cuz there's really no place to eat inside!

This has become my new favorite place for a quick meal! Like the owner says, he's got me "hooked!" Reminds me of the old school delis from New York. After moving here, I drive by this store twice a day two and from work and never stopped in. Finally decided to give it a whirl one afternoon and walked in. I ordered a prime rib sub with sharp provolone. Even after my mile walk back in the cold, when I got it home it was still hot! I loved it! I haven't tried anything else besides that so far (once I get something I LOVE, I tend to eat that until I'm sick of it!) They have daily specials, which always sound good, and I think I'll try one next time I stop in. The owner is very friendly! He always talks to me while I wait for my sub (or zep/hoagie as you Philly natives refer to them). I come in nearly once a week - will continue to do so!

I tried their Roast Pork sandwich with provolone and broccoli rabe. It was amazing. Probably one of the best Roast Pork sandwiches I have ever had in my life. The pork was flavorful and the broccoli rabe and cheese made the sandwich even better. I think my total came to around $8 but it was definitely worth it. The sandwich was huge. Besides roast pork sandwiches, they also have prime rib sandwiches, zeps and a few other items on the menu. Keep in mind this place doesn't take credit cards, nor have an ATM on site so bring cash.

Roast pork was decent, but the ambience and the shop felt like it needed a good scrubbing. Additionally the pork wasn't left simmering in the juices. I'd revisit if they cleaned the place up a bit.

Wasko's is the real deal. Look at all the good reviews here! We ordered pickup today and got a couple roast porks and classic italians...I personally swear by the pork here and haven't even tried anything else on the menu. It's quite tasty! The Italian Hoagies were good, according to my coworkers, but not WOW! I told them to try the Roast Pork next time...I may have to try the Prime Rib sandwich next time, but if you are looking for a delicious roast pork sandwich, check out Wasko's!

The only reason I am giving them just two stars is because the place is so dirty and unkept. I was in there today and got the pork with broccoli rabe and provolone and it was excellent. However, it is difficult to get past the clutter and crap laying all over the place. Newspapers, trash, even dumb bells. I guess they guy likes to lift weights when he is not busy. But just laying there on the floor? I don't know what kind of business they do, but I would guess that if they cleaned up and made the place look nicer inside, their business would double. Also, the guy behind the counter could be a little nicer. Just very cold and sort of on the grumpy side. A little smile goes a long way.

My kind of sandwich shop! Quiet, small and tasty. I told the owner to make me something delicious. I guess I got the signature pork, pepper and sharp provolone. You can tell he carefully selects the ingredients for a balance between cost and quality, with heavier weighting towards the quality. The pork was sooooo juicy. Warning, no plastic. Cash only, but worth it!

Small family run deli. Only got a roast pork sandwich, with spinach, sharp provolone and roasted hot peppers and it was terrific. The roast pork was juicy and tender and the roll was good too. The also have a few more sandwiches and "zeps". They only have a few seats, so grab one if available or be ready to take your order to go.

Holy cannolli. Like sandwiches? Try this place. Good bread, good meat, holy ****, let's eat. My five-year-old, who's usually very picky about, well, everything, said, and I quote, "Let's eat here every day." If you're not sure what to order, and you like spicy, have a hot pork with provolone and long peppers. You'll be freaking out, it's so good. Yeah, my mouth is pretty much watering right now.

YES! YES! YES! There are already 19 other reviews of this shop (none below 4 stars) and I agree with all of them.

Does exactly what it does perfectly. We had prime rib sandwiches and roast pork sandwiches. Both perfectly done meat, flavorful, moist and really really good. Sat at the bar/table across the back, a half dozen customers all came in all obviously local and chatted with the proprietor. Friendly group, a local place. I'd love this place right down the street from me. :)

Wasko's is one of the great take out mom/pop neighborhood establishments that is tucked in a location in town that is not on Main St and you always hope stays around a long long time. The roast pork subs/zeps are excellent. Have them with the homemade hot peppers; the peppers have just enough zing to them without being overwhelming and add excellent flavor to compliment the thinly sliced fresh roast pork. The sub/zep roll is fresh and works perfectly with the roast pork/peppers; not too much pull on the bread to make the sub/zep messy and not too soft to cause the juiciness of the pork/peppers/cheese to leak through the bread. Make sure to add provolone to the mix and you have one great sandwich that you know you are going to make at home any day of the week. Also order some delicious homemade pierogies (I hade the cheese/potato) to bring home with you. They were frozen but are homemade. I placed them in salted boiling water for about 6 minutes (dont overcook them or they will fall apart in the boliing water) and then fried them in melted butter for about 2 minutes per side until they were lightly browned. They were awesome! I travel through Pa/NJ/NY/CT weekly and always seeking all types of on the go excellent bneighborhood mom/pop food (especially subs/zeps/wedges/hoagies). Wasko's is a definite stop back for excellent roast pork/peppers/cheese zeps/subs whenever I am in the Phoenixville area!

The roast pork is dee-lish. Have it with sharp provolone and greens (broccoli rabe is my choice). A great family sandwich shop. Warning: not open late! Go for lunch or before 6 PM..

I love finding little food treasures tucked into neighborhoods. I recently moved to Phoenixville and found this place the day I moved in. I had the roast pork and spinach sandwich that day and couldn't stop saying Yum. The small is big enough for leftovers. Today I went again and had a prime rib sandwich--excellent! I think I like it better than the pork, although it is pretty close. He brings in pierogies and kielbasa from Port Richmond in Philly. It is nice to have a source for fresh pierogies in my neighborhood. I highly recommend checking this place out--the owner is a nice local guy too.

I can't add anything else to what all the others have said here. The sandwiches are really delicious. The place has the ambiance of inside of a goats stomach but it is clean and the food is great. Its pretty much takeout only.
