We tried this place on Halloween last week. The place is well decorated like many other thai restaurants I've been too. The menu offers a wide selection from authentic curry, pad thai to more Americanized thai food. We got pad thai and drunken noodles - and I got a thai iced tea. The pad thai tastes very good - it has a subtle taste to it that my BF enjoyed. The shrimps are big sizes. Descent portion as well. My drunken noodle is amazing too! The noodle is simmered with flavors. Service is great in the restaurant. Although we didn't go trick or treat, we had a nice Halloween night thanks to the thai place! We will definitely come back!

Best Thai around suburbia, I drive 30 minutes to come eat here. And it's worth every second of the drive. It's a mom and pop restaurant in a strip mall, so it doesn't look super high end. But who cares, the food is delicious. I have my usual dishes, so I can only review so much because I am a creature of habit. Tom yum soup: A must have. Great light soup full of tons of veggies. Veggie spring rolls: soo crispy and flaky = soo good Drunken noodles: I get the veggie version so it's loaded with fried tofu and veggies. This dish is packed with flavor and the perfect level of spiciness. Panang curry: I'm not a fan of panang, but this is the best panang I've had even compared to some places in Philly! I recommend you give this place a shot. It's a mom and pop shop and they are super sweet. The dishes are full of flavor and they don't skimp out on anything.

Surprisingly very good food! Had the tomyum soup and appetizer crepe-both were very delicious. The soup had a strong flavor and mildy spicy. I did family style with 3 other people. We had the chicken pad thai, red-colored curry (forget the thai name), pineapple fried rice. All were excellent! The pad thai was very savory and the curry had a kick, the way I like it! The fries rice was very fresh tasting with fresh looking veggies. The decor was nice and the restaurant seemed pretty clean. The place was pretty busy, but the staff members were still nice and attentive. I was pleasantly surprised with the place.

The best Thai restaurant ever. It's unassuming when you walk in - the interior looks like every other Thai restaurant I've been to - but the food. THE FOOD. I've tried almost everything on the menu and everything is delicious. Pad Thai, drunken noodles, curries, soups, appetizers. And the price. THE PRICE. $10 at lunchtime gets an app, soup, and entree. This place is unreal and I'll be back again soon.

Surprisingly good Thai restaurant in a strip mall area. The dishes we ordered are very flavorful. We order the red curry, pad thai, and pinapple fried rice which are normal dishes in thai cuisine but they did a very good job with the flavors.

Don't ask me how I ended up out here but do note, I was starving! I absolutely adored the fresh flowers on the table and the Buddha inspired decor. I ordered off the lunch special menu and had a Cucumber salad and spring rolls. Although it was tasty, the portion was small. My entree was the Drunken Noodle with Shrimp and although I thought the noodles were cooked perfectly, the spice was just right and the vegetables were not over cooked, I was disappointed that I only had three (3) shrimps in my dish and I had to remove the shell/tail. What was that about?! My Thai Tea was ok. I would have preferred to have the tea a bit stronger.

Oh no, the pad thai is the best I've ever had and I just moved pretty much across the street from this place..... I'm going to go broke trying all the yummy menu options!!!

Rolling in from Westmoreland County on the Pa Pike, my stomach started growling after almost four hours on the road. I was near exit 312. I pulled out my trusty sidekick Mobile Yelp and dialed in "Thai Restaurant." It came back with two choices in the vicinity, so I opted for the one nearer my location. Thai Place has an unassuming name, but under its self deprecating identity lurks a very fine Thai kitchen and comfortable dining space turning out very good authentic grub. Where many other restos of this genre approach the atmospherics with dark wood and musty scents, this shop is bright, light, and airy. The owner works the front of the house enthusiastically, while the single server on the floor managed a warm smile and genuine concern for all the patrons. I ordered the Tom Yum Soup (Vegetables) and Drunken Noodles (Chicken). Both were excellent. They asked my preferred spice level between 1 and 3, and I asked for max spice. That's the way I got it, right at the point where my sinuses start to run. Love it! There were plenty of Veggies and Tofu in the soup, and even more in the Drunken Noodles. There was enough for dinner the next night. The only reason Thai Place did not reach the apex was that my Jasmine Tea arrived in a lovely lime green mug with a teabag, rather than a pot of brewing boiling water and loose tea leaves. That is the best way to achieve full bodied flavor, and requires fewer return visits to refill the mug with hot water. I get that good tea is expensive and often unappreciated, but for me it sets apart the very good from the superlative.

This is hands down THE best Thai Restaurant in the area and quite frankly, anywhere. The food is delicious and has become our go-to comfort food. Try the Red Curry and Drunken Noodles. By far the tastiest anywhere! The owners and staff are so kind and friendly and make everyone feel like family. I'd give them 10 stars if I could!

Truly authentic and amaaaazzzing Thai food! We've eaten here dozens of times, often for large family gatherings with at least 10 of us. Service is always attentively top-notch. Food is fresh, perfectly seasoned, and consistently awesome. Lunch specials include an appetizer, soup or salad, and entree - all for right around $10 - and we all leave feeling like we got a bargain! Love this place!

I am speechless. I am without speech. Usually yelp reviews are pretty accurate, but this by far is the biggest gap in my opinion versus others with yelp. Maybe they were having a bad night, but the food here was awful. I had the 8 combination dinner, the steak and chicken were obviously thawed from frozen (dry and tasted like freezer burn) and the veggies were a few days old. It literally tasted like a Lean Cuisine microwave dinner. My wife's vegetarian curry literally had 4 pieces of tofu and my Dad's beef and tofu had old and discolored bean sprouts. I only ate a few bites of my dinner, then went next door to the yogurt place to get the taste out of my mouth. Nothing was fresh, there was no fresh basil, peanuts, or cilantro on the dishes, just bland and dull looking dishes. I was out of water pretty much my entire meal because no one was filling up water glasses until we were almost finished. Again, I'm really surprised about all the great reviews, our food was terrible.

I can't believe we haven't been to this place before! The food is delicious and the ingredients fresh. The place itself feels like a piece of Thailand, beautiful and intricate decorations - not cheesy at all. Service is fast and very friendly. We had Thai butterfly, cucumber salad, tom kha as appetizers. Especially the cucumber salad was outstanding, I would come back just for that. Chicken pad Thai and drunken noodles as entrees...the pad Thai was a bit boring (add some chili flakes and additional peanuts to it), but the drunken noodles delicious. I definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go back to try the curries! ..... Updated review: the curries are now my favorite. Chu Chee curry mmhhhh, spicy and delicious!

Just going to chime in and say that the other reviews are 100% accurate. The Thai Place is the best place Thai restaurant in the area. It's small, maybe only a dozen tables but also does a decent take-out business. If you've never tried Thai food this is a great place to start.

For too long, I've lived in darkness. My Thai food options were bleak, as a wizard had once cast a plague on Center City Philly, taming the curries and watering them down to atone for sins committed long ago. My time was the saddest time... ...until now. The existence of Thai place fills my heart up with joy and candy (metaphorically, of course. Candy would surely put me into cardiac arrest.) This is one of the only Thai places in PA that mixes flavor and heat perfectly when making a Thai red curry. All too often, a restaurant will sacrifice spice for spiciness and Thai Place strikes a striking balance. The curry isn't too watery. It's great. Their Tom Yum Gai Soup is strong. The broth hits you in the face. I really like it. The Thai iced tea is as good as any I've ever had.

I've eaten here twice. The food was delicious; one of the top Thai meals I've had outside Thailand. The servers were very attentive and polite. The restaurant is somewhat plain, but it looks very clean, So why four stars? Timing; I ordered an appetizer, soup and a main dish. The appetizer and soup arrived together and I had barely started the soup when the entree arrived. So by the time I got to my main dish, it was lukewarm. I can highly recommend the Tom Yum soup, the chicken with basil and the spicy green curry; they're all very delicious. The entree portions are large enough to share.

Amazing food. I met my husband for a quick lunch since he is working in Phoenixville for a project and doesn't get much time. I normally hit Aman's (which is awesome) but wanted something different. The restaurant is cute, small and cozy and the wait staff very warm. We ordered the fried taro app and both got lunch specials. I opted for the satay, Thai salad and drunken noodles. My husband got some ground chicken patty app, cucumber salad and cashew chicken. Everything was truly great. I was also pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes. Normally when they offer a lunch special where you choose app, salad or soup and entree they are all tiny. Not so here, I had to box up what was left and trust me, I'm no petite little flower eater. Like most of the gem restaurants you'd walk or drive right by because it's jammed in a strip mall, which is a shame. Stop by, trust me, even if you've never had Thai food, you will love it!

Not bad at all! We got the beef drunken noodle, pineapple fried rice with shrimp, and the golden triangle appetizer. Everything was pretty good.

Very good Thai restaurant. The cucumber salad was good. My wife and I both liked the red curry dish - Chu Chee Curry. I also had the Pad Wood Sen which the server asked if I would like it spicier since I indicated that I like spicy food, so I had it at the 2nd level of spiciness. It was delicious and just right on the heat for me! The Gai Tom Kha was good, but I prefer it with a little red chili oil in it to give it a little more flavor. Overall a very nice experience.

My favorite Thai food in the area. I've eaten here several times with different groups of people and it's always good. I love that it's BYO. I also really like the easy parking; much better than trying to park in downtown Phoenixville.

This restaurant was my first experience with Thai food and I'm so glad it was! Really sweet, timely, helpful staff. The food is where this place shines though.. Everything I've ordered has been delicious. They also have an awesome lunch special that comes with two appetizers and a main course for under $10.00! It's dine-in only though but totally worth it. Even my take-out experiences have been great. Again, timely (even my largest order for over 4 people has been ready in 20 minutes or less) and everything tastes fresh, always! Definitely give Thai Place a try!!

  • Quinxy V.

Because of the phenomenal ratings, my sister and I drove 30 minutes to get to Thai Place on 6/18 only to walk in at 2:45 PM, wait a bit, and then be told they were closed until 5pm, despite their Yelp hours, despite their posted hours, and despite the Open sign they still had in the window. They then switched the sign to closed and put up one of those "Back at [clock face]." signs. I feel bad giving a one star review but I can't think of many worse experiences. I'd rather have had lousy food than be turned away with no food and a lot of wasted time and gas. (If someone died or was rushed to hospital I'll amend this review, but I got the impression based on the host's interaction that closing when business was slow might be normal.)

This is my very favorite Thai restaurant and I have tried many. Relaxed atmosphere , friendly prompt service and delicious Thai food. I am a sweet tooth and someone gave me a taste of their sticky black rice dessert and I was hooked, sounded odd but tasted divine. If you enjoy Thai food you can't go wrong at this place.

Always enjoy the food here. Taro app is excellent and so are the veg spring rolls. Great vegetarian choices and friendly service. One of the few places where take out is as good as eating there and that is no easy task to achieve..

Until recently I had not tried Thai food, and now some of my favorite dishes I've discovered from this place. Their lunch specials are a great price with two appetizers and a main course. My favorites are the cucumber salad, chicken satay (Tuesdays and Thursdays), and Thai tulips. Their Chu Chee red curry is delicious! I tried it at a "one star" spiciness and now order it at "two stars." It's spicy, but comfortable and the flavor is rich and not masked by the heat. I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

This place is delicious, and I'm saying this as somebody who adores Thai cuisine and has tried a lot of it. The food is always fresh, prepared well and authentic. The owners are very nice and the staff is attentive and knowledgeable about the food. The only downfall would be the strip mall location and decor, but when it comes down to it the food is what really matters. Some favorites of mine (I am vegetarian) are the Tom Kha Gai soup, the crispy tarot root appetizer, the lettuce wrap appetizer, vegetarian green curry, and the vegetarian pad thai. I prefer this place to the other local Thai place, Thai L'elephant (even though this place is very good as well and the ambiance is definitely of a higher level. As are the prices). If you are going for the quality and flavor of the food, I recommend Thai Place.

Very delicious here. Perfect for my family to go and enjoy perfect Thai cuisine. Not too sweet or coconutty. Perfect . Excellent service. Always super friendly . Quaint and quiet usually unless you end up next to a screaming ( but adorable) child or that loud guy or woman. Can't control everything. Always a great meal with great prices.

Hands down- always good! It's my go-to place with my husband and no matter where we travel in the world, Thai Place is the gold standard. Must-haves: Tom Yum soup and Pad Woon Sen! If you have room after good size portion- try the black sweet rice. AMAZING.

This is the best Thai place near me. I fell in love with Thai food in Boston and was extremely disappointed by the quality of Thai food in PA, and then I found this place. (I have since found others, but this is the best one closest to me) Their Tom Yum is on par with what you'd find in Thailand. Flavors are authentic and we've always had wonderful service.

One of the best Thai restaurants in the greater Philadelphia area. The red curry or Chu Chee curry is absolutely amazing. Great Tom Yum soup and of course, Thai iced tea. The food is fantastic even as a carry-out. However, the curry portion sizes are a bit smaller for carry-out.

Great food. Did take out for our first ever order. Amazing food! The Meing Cum sounds weird but was one if the best things I've ever had. Chicken satay was great too. Will definitely be ordering again. My husband can't stop raving about the Drunken Noodles.

I got a three course lunch menu for $8.95? And it might have been served faster than any non-fast food meal in my life. Both pluses. Besides that, it's Thai food. I could eat Thai food all day every day and with these prices and speed and deliciousness (sorry - it's a given Thai food will always be delicious), I might make my humble, lowbrow dreams come true. I don't have many expectations of life...

This place was okay. Especially considering the location in east bumble f, pa. that being said, i'm astounded that this is rated so highly. It wasn't a horrible experience, but no way is it a 4.5 star rating. I guess I need to consider the raters when considering the opinions. Anyway, stopped in for a lunch special. Approx $8 and change for an appetizer, soup or salad, and an entree. The pricing was fair and it was a pretty big lunch menu to select from. For an appetizer, i went with chicken satay, my soup was a something tom kah coconut soup, and my entree was a penang curry. The chicken satay and soup came out together. The chicken was bbq'd a bit too much, being a little bit drier than I prefered, but it was slathered in what tasted like a satay sauce from a can. No joke, I think I have the same kung lee or whatever brand of satay dressing in my fridge right now. I would pass on the chicken satay. The soup came out looking nice. there were big slices of chicken, onions, and a single slice of tomato. The onions were all under cooked and a bit sharp, maybe this was their intent, but they were cut too large so it wasn't an easy task to align it with the spoon direction to be able to fit it in my mouth with the soup (that's what she said, freak). The soup also had a bit of a sour taste, not exactly to my liking either. The entree came in a small bowl, cause it's a soupy curry, with a bowl shaped mound of rice. It looked so bare on the plate, i had to check to make sure they didn't forget the rest of the meal. Surprisingly, it was pretty filling, thank you mr. rice. Um.. all i could say was that the curry had salt, a bit too much. I think the chef mixed the ingredients up, instead of sugar he added salt. Instead of curry powder, salt! Salt salt salt! I had to dump all the rice in to soak up the curry and balance out the flavor to make it more palatable. It wasn't a great experience, but it wasn't super horrible either. i probably wouldn't go back again if I were ever to find my self unfortunate enough to be in bumbleville phoenixville.

I was quite disappointed after seeing so many good reviews about this place. One of my favorite thai dish is pad-se-ew and that's what I ordered only to be disappointed. It tasted nothing like the ones I've had in the past. The noodles were slightly dry and there was no flavor. I suppose I may have been a little spoiled living in the DC area and having places like Crystal Thai to go to. The one thing I did like was the thai iced tea from here. I don't know anyone that can mess up that drink!

Amazing authentic Thai food!! My sister in law said we had to try this secret gem and we were skeptical at first, but boy were we wrong!! The food is incredible and so fresh! The restaurant is small, but the service is friendly and the price is unbeatable! I will be going back for seconds and thirds!

Best Thai in Phoenixville!(sorry, Thai Elephant. You were up there but have really slid since moving to Bridge street) I can recommend all their duck dishes, espec. the Chu Chee. Love their ginger chicken and basal chicken. Nice people, good ambiance. Try the lunch special.

Great Thai restaurant for the area. Phoenixville, as far as culinary adventures go, is definitely up and coming. The food here is always good - ingredients are fresh and they even have some very spicy dishes for you risk takers. Items I would recommend are the cucumber salad, any of their curry dishes and their pad woo sen. The only reason the Thai Place did not receive 5 stars is because they are closed on Mondays.

Instead of using hot sauce, this place uses chopped red chili peppers. I know this because upon ordering my asparagus dish - hold the tofu please - "Thai" spicy, and having read Yelp reviews asserting that the spice level wasn't to par - I kindly asked for a side of hot sauce. Presented in front of me was a plate of chopped stir-fried asparagus without oil oozing and slopping around my plate. The perfectly formed, succulently sweet sticky rice retained its form all the way to the bottom. And an aura of chili enveloped the table. Next to my plate of perfectly spicy, sweat-inducing food was laid a tiny bowl of chopped chili peppers. Chili peppers. Not sauce. Chili peppers. Win.

"You wanna try that Thai Place?" "Sure, what's it called?" "....Thai Place." It could've easily turned into a, "Who's on third?" situation, but crisis averted. It's as simple and delicious as its name suggests. It's Thai food, and it happens to be in a place. But feel free to get take-out and eat Thai at your place. I'll always thank this little strip mall gem for first introducing me to the world of Thai. In an otherwise cultural void known as the Philly suburbs, Thai Place stands out, delivering high quality food despite the lack of competition. Pad thai, tofu todd, crab fried rice, thai iced tea....all amazing. They also have mock chicken and mock duck available, which is fantastic. It's my go-to birthday dinner spot if I'm home with my family.

A great find in this culinary desert! We haven't been impressed with restaurants in this area, but we like Thai Place. We've come here a few times, so its easy for me to give 5 stars. You can tell Thai Place pays attention to the details. The decor, general presentation of food, and the fact the thai iced tea comes with a straw wrapper twisted into a cute origami :) Also, the staff are friendly, and the prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of food. The one concern I have about Thai food in general is the grease level. But the food at Thai Place has consistently been not greasy, even the fried foods, and quite flavorful. The last time we came here, we had fried taro root, vegetarian pad thai, and vegetarian green curry. I'd recommend all those dishes. The vegetarian pad thai was delicious. The vegetarian green curry was a bit spicy, but it came with a chock full of vegetables and tofu.

I'm going to buck the trend here, as I'm seeing alot of fondness for this place, and report that the food I got here on my most recent visit was just not that good. I ordered the ginger chicken for Doug and the green curry for myself, and both were swimming in oil. The curry was decent enough...not the best I've had but not the worst. The oil slick, however, put me off. The ginger chicken was also oily and had little flavor, to boot. I've been a fan of this place in the past, but will now have to look elsewhere for Thai when I'm in the area.

I really enjoy this place. In fact, this place has allowed me to enjoy Thai food. I do have one huge "beef" though and thus the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars: canned pineapple? Really? My favorite dish at this restaurant would be soooooooo much better with fresh pineapple rather than the canned variety on which they prepare the dish with. Will be back though and hopefully with fresh pineapple in the future.

Thai Place is on the small side and fills up quick!, but the food is worth the wait and I am happy that they are busy in these economic times. Massaman curry never disappoints.

I truly love their Penang Curry. (Green Curry is awesome for fans of spicy food.) This restaurant is owned by a very friendly family from Thailand and is easily the best Thai food I have eaten in my life. #1 highlight of the Phoenixville food scene. The take out is also quick / delicious and makes for a quick meal when the day is just too busy to cook.

This place is fantastic. The service was great. Sometimes at these mom and pop joints the servers can be a little aloof, but that was not the case here. We were greeted promptly and sat quickly. The server was very good at not just engaging me, but also my children. She treated them like they were mini adults. She came back quickly with our drinks and asked if we wanted to order anything while we were waiting on our friends. Once our friends got there we ordered some appetizers. We got the taro root and the tofu ones. Both were very good. The sauce served with the taro root was really flavorful. My friend is a vegan and this place is very vegetarian/vegan friendly. Not only to they offer quite a few veggie dishes, but they also offer mock meats as well. She ordered the mock chicken pad thai. My kids ordered the beef with tofu. They were out of the bean sprouts that normally come on the dish, but we didn't feel like it was missing anything. I ordered the monkfish dish. It was very well prepared. Normally that dish comes out spicy, but I asked them to tone it down some since I was sharing with the kiddos. They gladly accommodated my request. Everything was really delicious. I also appreciated that the background music was not too loud. It was just loud enough to here, but not overpowering. I also loved the color of the plates they served on. Kind of a soft greenish color. They also served my food on a fish shaped dish that my daughter loved. I can't wait to go back and try some other dishes. Looking at the food at the other tables has me very excited to try some new things. The prices were very reasonable. And the food did well with reheating the next day for lunch.

I can't add anything to the already glowing reviews from other yelpers. The food is very fresh and is well prepared and presented. The décor is very calming, sort of Zen, a surprise in this otherwise dismal shopping center. The service is very attentive and friendly. My first time there won't be my last.

Good tasting food and value. Having been spoiled by Jasmine in West Chester, the lack of ambience and rather typical menu disappointed a bit. But it was quick and reasonable and quite busy.

Stumbled upon gem, which is located in a strip shopping center. Enter and be welcomed but what I presume is a family-comprised staff; very polite and accomodating. Sit down and open up your linen napkin which is folded into a pretty rose (how do they do that?) and then spend the first few minutes trying to try to refold it just like them. The food was all delicious! Tulip dumplings are pretty to look at and yummy to start with. The Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups were so flavorful - one with rich coconut flavor and the other with a perfect sweet/sour lemon grass base. The panang and massaman curries are both better than average - I only wished I had bread to sop up both broths. There is no alcohol, so BYOB. We didn't know that, so we were a tad bummed. Overall, a great meal out for anyone who lives remotely close by.

I have been eating at Thai Place for at least 8 years now, and I can say with 100% certainty that I have never had a disappointing dish. Everyone I've recommended this place to has had the same thing to say about it: incredible food. I've had many different entres, including various curries, drunken noodles, pad thai, me grob (sp?), etc. And everything is extremely flavorful and fresh. I hate going to thai joints where you know they're using a bag of frozen veggies in their stuff. The family who owns Thai Place is super friendly. To the reviewers who gave it any less than 5 stars... Seriously? I'm sure if I read your other yelp reviews, you'd have the same snooty, uppity remarks about every other restaurant you go to. Your self-important, condescending attituds are getting a little over-the-top.

The best Thai food in the area. I have been a regular here for years. The food is so beautifully prepared and the sauces are bright and spicy. Love the thai curries. They are all wonderful. I especially love their Thai Spring rolls, salads and soups for starters. For dinner it is a BYOB so that makes it a nicely priced dinner spot for friends.

This is one of the best Thai places I've been to, which is impressive since I've lived in L.A. for a while. But seriously, although it's location is not ideal for the downtown Phoenixville traveller, as a local I highly recommend it. The curry is always consistent and delicious. The staff is always friendly and always remember us even when it's been a while since our last visit. Definitely check them out!

Best Thai food in the Greater Philly area, no doubt. Delicious food and always friendly people! The strip mall location is meaningless unless you're looking for something to complain about. The atmosphere inside is very nice.

Why haven't I reviewed this thai place before (pun intended)?! I've been here more than a handful of times, and each time is a different and pleasant experience! I've had khao pad (delicious!) and the curry which was so, so, so good. I've had the green curry and the country curry which is substantially hotter. At least on one occasion, the staff warned me that it was hot, so I got it scaled down a bit (no, I'm not a wuss, but, yes I was thankful that I could actually enjoy eating my food!) Many times I've been waited on by the owners who will always make sure that you have plenty of water in your glass and that everything is OK. Just like the Terminator...I'll be back.

This place is the real deal. One time I picked up my order and a dining couple left at the same time and said they wanted to move from Maryland just so they could eat Thai Place all the time. Everything on the menu is delicious. The friendly staff is able to make any changes you want to any of the dishes (I always order dishes without tofu) and the service for pick-up is fast. I've never eaten there but that's only because it's such a convenient location. Probably my favorite restaurant in the area.

Hiding in a strip mall with an unassuming storefront, Thai Place (unassuming name!) has food you might not guess is as good as it is. "What's that Thai place you were talking about?" "You mean Thai Place?" "Yes, the Thai place, what is the name????" Argh! Cheap too. We split a cucumber salad and each had a curry dish, and it was $27. We love BYOBs too, because we always know the wine will be good, and affordable. We chose a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, which is great with Thai, but another great one would be Verdejo from Rueda, Spain, yum yum yum, perfect if you love Sauv Blanc. What made us drive straight there a few nights ago was seeing that they have mock duck and mock chicken made of seitan, and it is tender and delicious. (I am a vegetarian-trying-to-be-vegan but am not supposed to have soy, which is a total pain, but I am finding my way around this, thanks to seitan and Thai restaurants.) I have never seen more than 3 curries on a Thai menu, usually red, green, and mussaman, but there were more here, including one made without coconut milk, which was delicious, but man, that was a hot one. We did not make any heat requests, but I would say that one dish was mild and the other was medium, fine with us. We loved the beautiful celery green plates and the elephant decor and were geekily taking lots of pictures. The only other things I would advise is to turn the lights down a little and add candles to the tables. Service was friendly and well-paced, and people were constantly coming in to pick up their takeout. I can't tell which is better, this place or Thai L'Elephant -- I am just jealous that Phoenixville has two Thai restaurants that are this good.

They go cheap on ingredients. Papaya salad has no dry shrimp. Pad Thai don't have those minced pickled veggie. Spring roll was like mall food. Not a fan.

Good flavorful food, courteous service and good ambience. Taste beats nearby thai restaurants I've tried, definitely intend to visit again. The one item that kinda ticked me off was a mandatory 18% gratuity on the bill. I usually tip 20% so the amount wasnt the problem, but for a party of 3, imposing the 18% tip wasnt exactly 'legal' as far as I know. That being said, the quality of food warrants a hippocratic stance

Worth the money, simple, comfortable, very good food! The food is just as good as bigger restaurants with more "ambience", and sometimes that's just what we want. Only problem has been uneven service- sometimes exceptional- sometimes not- depending on who is working... Oh and the glasses are small and usually overpacked with ice- requiring ridiculous numbers of refills.

We had heard lots of good things about this restaurant and finally tried it. Excellent! I had som tum and Tom yum; my husband had a curry rated three stars for heat, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Simply put...this place has amazing food. My wife and I went there on a Friday evening and had a wonderful time. Everything from the location of the restaurant to the decor does not do justice to how great the food really is. I would best describe this place as a diamond in the rough. For the appetizer we got ground chicken wrapped in egg roll wrapper, deep fried and served with sweet chilli sauce. For dinner I was craving something really spicy and so I went with drunken noodles and my wife opted for rice with vegetables. The drunken noodles were just the thing I was craving...and the spicyness too. But beware the spice is not for the light hearted nor is it too hot if that's your thing. My wife's dish was pretty good as well. For dessert we got the mango ice cream and the only thing it had going for it was that it's homemade. I would have liked it to a creamy and it was more crystalized. Enjoy and happy eating!

This is the best Thai place around, hands down. Sadly, I no longer live nearby. My husband and I got takeout from here weekly. We never ate inside, but have been inside numerous times to pickup our food. It is located in a strip mall, however once you get inside it is beautifully and authentically decorated. I actually am not quite sure why we never ate inside... I have eaten a variety of curries and noodle dishes here. We also occaisonally get the shrimp and pineapple fried rice, which is delicious. All of the vegetables are fresh and crisp in their sauces, no frozen and rethawed veggies here! In the curries with basil in them, it is actual strips of leaf, not dried and powdered, or even dried. This restaurant takes pride in their food and don't serve anything they wouldn't eat. We have also had some of the appetizers here, which tend toward deep-fat-fried chinese apps. Eh, I'd rather have an extra entree of their delicious specialties! My personal favorites are the Drunken Noodles, and yellow and massamun curries, medium--hot. I suspect the location is why there are more reviews for another, not-quite-as-good thai BYOB located on the main street, bridge street. Between the two I would choose this place every single time. Better food, services, price and variety! Try it, I can almost guarantee you will like it... unless you are allergic to thai food.

Yummy and spicy! That's how I'd describe this wonderful gem. It's got two very important things going for it; firstly, the food. Wonderful, exotic and delicious! I'm not an expert on Thai food to qualify this but I know good food and this is GOOD food. I had the Panang Curry and it was mysterious and elegant in my mouth. It's a midly spicy curry with lemongrass and coconut milk and I couldn't stop eating it. Secondly, the price. OMG, you can not beat the price. It's affordable, much more so than PF Changs, and way more authentic. The service was great and attentive, especially with the need for fresh, cold water to soothe the fiery palate. The decor is, in my opinion, fitting with what I'd want a Thai restaurant to look like. It's not gimmicky or highly stylized like chain restaurants either. It's located in an unassuming strip mall which has the potential to be off-putting but don't let that sway your mind or your taste buds. This place is definitely worth the visit. I'm planning on going back on a regular basis. I can't wait!!

I have lunch here rather often and dinner about 3 times in the last year or so. The Thai selection menu is limited but enough to satisfy my need. For lunch, you get to pick 3 things from the menu. I usually take the dumplings, cucumber salad and an entree. The dumpling and cucumber salad are great. The entrée is on the salty side so keep that in mind if you need to watch your blood pressure. Among many things, my two favorites are the drunken noodle and the green curie. Make sure you ask the server not to put a lot of lemon in the drunken noodle. For dinner, they have a special salad roll with coconut, peanut and other things. This dish is very unique and fun to eat. Thai ice tea is always great. For some reason, the takeout size is about 2x of the eat-in size. Many times, the owner is also the server. She's very friendly and chatty. You can ask her about the King of Thailand status that she had on the back wall and she'll give you a good story about what he did to the country. I'll continue to have my lunch here for years to come.

Delicious and reasonably priced with friendly staff. I'm not sure if this is typical at Thai places or not, but they number their menu so you're able to order something that looks good without the worry about making a fool out of yourself trying to pronounce it! :) We had the deep fried squid (good) and chicken satay (awesome) for an appetizer, and I had the steamed mussels for an entree, and then coconut ice cream for dessert. Watch out for the "spicy sauce" that comes with these mussels! The dish isn't rated as hot but HOLY CRUD that sauce has a kick with its red chiles. I was happy with every part of the meal. And they're BYOB so who can argue with that? I feel spoiled now-- two great thai places within a 10-15 minute drive for me. I would definitely recommend Thai Place, and I foresee myself returning! PS: Just make sure that when making plans with friends you specify that the actual name of the restaurant is "Thai Place". It gets confusing when you say, "hey lets check out that thai place...". ;) You may end up playing "Who's on first".

Friends living (and working) near this creatively named place have been recommending it for some time. I'm always game for Thai, so I met a friend there for lunch. It was easy to find, located in a shopping center with a Giant. The decor is nice but unremarkable and I remember hearing Thai music... Our appetizers and soups came out together. My soup was the tom yum gai, which was exotic deliciousness in a bowl. It had chicken and spices blended with lime juice and lemon grass with mushrooms, limes leaves and cilantro. I tried the todd mun chicken (deep-fried ground chicken and curry paste, served with cucumber) which was agreeable. My entree was the green curry, which had fresh chili, coconut milk, string beans, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, and lime leaves. I requested it spicy and it *WAS* (oh my jesus). I sweat up a storm and enjoyed every minute - talk about a workout! It was tasty and oh-so-special. The Thai Place is a fine example of outstanding Thai food way outside Philadelphia city limits. Our dishes were reasonably priced. Recommended!

This was a delicious dinner. We got Thai iced tea..best I've ever had... an appetizer, 2 entrees and the mango ice cream dessert for $35. E got the drunken noodles with beef, I got the ginger chicken with black mushrooms. I can't wait to go back.. E might not be in as a big hurry...I spent much of the car ride home chanting, "We found yummy Thai food! We found yummy Thai food!"

The biggest disappointment about not working in Malvern anymore is that I can't make the journey up Charlestown Rd to Thai Place for lunch. The lunch special at Thai Place is perhaps the best value within miles. For $10 you can choose an appetizer, soup, and main dish. While the menu is more limited than the full dinner menu, there is enough variety that you'll never be bored. Oh, and the food is absolutely the most remarkable Thai I have ever had. Pad Woon Sen was my favorite, but the Green Curry and Cashew Chicken are also great.... heck, they're all amazing. So fresh and light, such remarkable flavors, well-balanced, and perfect portion sizing. I always walked out pleasantly stuffed and looking forward to my next trip back to Thai Place; as opposed to nearly comatose and remorseful after lunch at certain other restaurants. I really like that at Thai Place they focus on traditional dishes that are cooked by a chef who knows the cuisine and has worked to perfect his craft; they avoid the oh-to-be-hip Asian Fusion crap that many restaurants attempt. Thai Place are great at altering the spiciness of their dishes. I have tried all variations from mild to medium to hot and I can vouch that even for us borderline-albino types, they'll make it legitimately spicy if you ask. From personal experience, maximum heat at Thai Place can induce quite an episode of teary eyes and sweaty brow.

A nice little Thai restaurant with a pretty convenient location. I have been here 4 or 5 times now and I have had the Pad Thai and the Mee Grob with Shrimp. The Pad Thai wasn't too special and seems like any other Thai restaurants. Since trying that once, I discovered the Mee Grob with Shrimp. They have Mee Grob without shrimp for an appetizer but I prefer the entrée portion with the shrimp. They add a generous portion of large shrimp. Here's the description true to word: Crispy noodles with shrimp, bean curd, bean sprout, pickled garlic and homemade toffee sauce. This is SO good. My husband thinks it s a little too sweet for dinner but it's absolutely wonderful! I would have to say that I feel the price for the dish is a little steep...but they did recently raise the price on that too I have sampled from people I was with and I would not recommend the curries. I suppose it's because I prefer Indian curries, which are quit a bit thicker, so I found the Thai curries to be runny and watery. Also, the service is pretyy slow and we usually have to flag the waitress down to order and get the check. Try the Mee Grob with Shrimp!

Don't let the location fool you. This BYO restaurant may be located in a strip mall but once inside, the place is very clean, the decor and ambiance is tasteful and the food is great. I haven't found a thai restaurant in Philly that I like better. The Shrimp Pad Thai is awesome as is the BBQ Squid and Crispy Taro Root Apps. I also love the Cripsy Tamarind Duck and Garlic Squid entrees. Don't forget to try their homemade coconut cream -- the only thing that would improve it would be a sprinkling of toasted coconut on top. I've been going here since it opened and the owners never disappoint with great, friendly service -- and they always remember us.

I was shocked at home good this place was, given its location. Also, not sure why it's tagged as $$, as my girlfriend and I each got tea, an appetizer, soup and an entree for about ten bucks each.

So dissapointed! I'm new to the area and looked up thai places and found this as the higest rated one. Hubby and I tried it out for lunch and although food was decent, the staff or lack there of sucked! We waited forever to be seated and then 20 minutes before we were able to order. Our food came before any type of beverages were offered to us and when I drank all of my water, I waited another 10 mintues before I finally got up to get the pitcher to refill my own water.... And.. to top that off.. when I attempted to order a dessert... the lady told me that they cant make it because they are going to close in 10 minutes! OMFG! are you kidding me? You are a restuarant and as long as you have customers ordering.. you need to make the darn food! Soooo NOT going back!

This is probably one of my favorite Thai places around. They also have a Thai Iced Tea that beats all the other places around here that I've been. I usually like the spicy stuff that burns my face off, so if that's not for you, I can't really speak for you. But the spicy noodle dishes I've gotten here have been great. This place has been good for me as a quick lunch during work break. While it never seems to be crowded, I've never felt like I waited very long for their service.

I have eaten Thai food in big cities around the world, and Phoenixville's Thai Place measures up shockingly well. The location is an unassuming strip mall, and the interior is a little kitschy, but the service is excellent, and the food is amazing. I'm not usually one to go for boring old Pad Thai, but it is divine here. I often get duck panang, or the peanut-y Praram Rong Song, but you can pretty much choose something randomly and get a delicious result. Great choice for take-out as well. Not as dirt-cheap as some thai places can be, but that's probably a good sign.

Since we were visiting my daughter at the local college we let her pick where we would go for dinner.Since none of us know the area we resorted to Yelp. I am kind of neutral on this place. So I'm wondering after reading the reviews have many of the Yelpers reporting on this restaurant have much experience eating good Thai food? After rereading the reviews before posting this I see in fact many have not had much Thai food at all. We were disappointed in the appetizers. The fried spring rolls seemed to be 4 frozen, tiny things you would buy in a giant box from Sam's.Not even close to being worth the $4.95 charged. The tea everyone insisted we order is the same stuff I get free from a Chinese buffet. The reason the stars are not lower is this:The place is clean, pleasing to the eye.The owner very nice. The Drunken Chicken noodle was $2.00 cheaper then where we normally get this dish and it was fine. My spicy duck in a very water like broth was full of veggies and lacking much duck. If this was all I order with the rip off spring rolls this review would have been a 2 star for sure. I brought my duck home to correct the dish .I added BBQ chicken cut up ,extra sauce to thicken it,A dash of fish sauce ,fresh basil and zest of lime and it will be edible tomorrow. Not so impressed guys.

We have been coming here on occasion and found it to be a clean, friendly and above average Thai establishment. Sometimes the chicken is dry and rather flavorless, when in a curry, for example. (I had "mock duck", which I assume was seitan. It was actually tender and flavorful.) I have found the red curries to my liking in the past, too. We will go back and try a few more items, just to check it out further....

I personally like my Thai a bit hotter than this place tends to make it, but the food is still excellent regardless of what I order. I return here all the time because the service is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect. 4 out of 5 for great food less hot than I'd like, plus 1 for all the other awesome stuff about this place.

Excellent food. I had take-out from Thai Place tonight with my son and his room-mate. We all ordered vegetarian. It was ready when we went to pick up our order, and the price was really reasonable. We had lettuce wraps to start, and they were so yummy. Cleverly packaged too. Then the cabbage salad, seasoned perfectly with just a bit of acid to soften the cabbage. Two main dishes fed the three of us: a curry with tofu and a mixed vegetable in a peanut sauce with tofu. Spicy, but not so hot as to spoil the flavor of the rest of the dishes. The rice was perfectly cooked, and just the right amount to soak up all the good sauce. I'd have to say I would love to go and enjoy table service, but as for a takeout meal that survived a 15 minute journey in the car, it was fantastic! I will be back.

Delicious! It's BYOB, like many places in Phoenixville. Most of their dishes are spicy, so it's best to avoid if you don't like spice. Their curry was delicious, though. A big unexpected to find a Thai Place in Phoenixville, but I was happy nonetheless!

Such a humble location. Yet such delicious food, excellent service, and an atmosphere that just permeates you with a feeling that takes you away from the shopping center through which you entered the restaurant. I have yet to eat from the dinner menu. But the soup danced in my mouth. The meats were well cooked and well seasoned. And the vegetables were delicious. And to top it off they served Thai iced tea. Which I have had the misfortune of being unable to order at many Thai places since last visiting Tampa. All in a word, great. I will return soon.

Now this is really good food from people who CARE. Does anyone realize how important CARING is when it comes to making food. You know why home cooking tastes to good? Because the person making it (usually Mom or G-Mom) cares. It's made with love and this food is made with love.

My favorite Thai restaurant. Standard Thai food, great taste and cheap. I used to go all the way to Thai Pepper(I think now called Flavors) in Wayne, which was expensive and more upscale. But the food taste at Thai Place definitely beats Thai Pepper any day.

  • Jason S.

My cousin picked up some takeout from here and it was pretty good. He didn't have a menu so he just ordered 3 pad thai(s?). 1 chicken, 1 shrimp and 1 beef. I had the beef and 2 bites of chicken. They were decent for takeout, especially with a squeeze of the lemon slice. I like that acidic kick. I preferred the beef pad thai to the chicken. I can't comment on anything else about the place other than the food. We have a menu now, so we can try other items.

I think this restaurant is very good for a small place in a typical shopping center. I'm not a huge fan of Thai food, but I enjoy it now and then, and I have had some excellent dinners and lunches here. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and will gladly adjust the dishes to your liking (more or less spicy, rice rather than noodles, vegetarian, etc.) Don't let the outside appearance or a few bad reviews deter you, this is a decent Thai restaurant.

This place is located in the middle of a somewhat shabby looking shopping center (Giant Food, Big K, Sears Hdwe.), but it's surprisingly good and quite consistent. They tend towards sweet and greasy American-style Thai food (think of apps like fried taro root or "golden triangles" of deep-fried tofu with sweet sauce), but if you stay away from fried dishes with funny names and go for traditional stuff like curries and noodle dishes, you will do pretty well. Take-out service is reliable. A little pricey for what you're getting, but in Phoenixville, beggars can't be choosers. Update (Dec. 2007): I realize that my review sounds pretty negative. Maybe I overdid the snark. This is actually quite a good place. It's a bit overpriced, in my view, and you have to be careful with what you order, but I've been going there consistently for a number of years now. I love the curries, all of them. I also really like the Drungken Noodle dish, though sometimes they get kind of chintzy with the shrimp. Anyhow, I recommend it. It's not perfect, but it's quite good. I'm just stingy with the stars, I guess.

My fiance and I go here every Friday night for dinner. The employees and wait staff are so friendly and they always say hello and ask how you are doing. The decor is always cool to look at as they have authentic things from Thailand. Everytime we go there we sometimes if not always get the same thing. The best dishes they have there are the Penang Curry which is full of flavor with a tad bit of spiceness. I am not a huge spicy food person but I love this dish because it has so much flavor and lots of yummy vegetables. Another dish that is out of this world is the Param Rong Song. It is a peanut sauce dish with watercress and chicken. I always order this each time that I go. I absoulutely love the watercress it is fantastic. Lastly, the drunken noddles are DELICIOUS! They are very mildly spicy but packed with flavor. Also, try the appetizers all of them are flavorful and delicious! I personally prefer the fried squid and Meing Cum. If you are considering trying Thai food for the first time or are looking a restaurant that serves Thai cuisine. Thai Place has what you are looking for. It is the best in Phoenixville. The staff is great and are always willing to help you make a selection. Everything is VERY good so you will not be disappointed.

Thai Place has been one of my FAVORITE restaurants since they opened. I now live 45 minutes away but will still travel here to get delicious Thai food. When I did live in the area I came here for take-out every Saturday night. I always get the Shrimp Stir-Fried with Baby Corn & Mushrooms - very light and mild for a someone new to Thai food. The Cucumber Salad is very refreshing, and their Red Curry is also great. Another reason I continue to come here is the wonderful customer service - even though they don't see me every Saturday night anymore, they ALWAYS remember my name and who I am the second they hear my take-our order! Love that! Thai Place is a MUST TRY for superb food and excellent service.

My Family loves this place. We go here more than any other Thai place in the area. The Cucumber salad is great. I really like the chicken and broccoli. We take out from here mostly, but eating in is nice as well. the people are always very nice, and the food quality is consistently good.
