Members of the Chester County Trail Club and Meetup Group went, after a fine evening's hike at Valley Forge, to Sal's Pizza Box for a casual birthday party. We enjoyed it. Prices are comparable to many pizza places around Chester County. The pizza chefs here are very good. It is a nice, family-run place with an obvious interest in making customers happy. The craft beer drinkers in the group were pleased with the massive selection (fridges in the entrance way; still more fridges in the dining room). Two vegans in the group once again got a great pizza and those who tried it liked it. A test of good pizza is the way it works without cheese. Mushroom fans will like the local Portobellos. Fresh, juicy and rich, they work well with spinach and the red sauce. Open late. You can eat in or take the pizza home. The aroma is so tempting it's unlikely it'll arrive home intact. Really cool, friendly people work here and they've stood the test of time. Glad to have this local pizza shop. Thank you very much for your kind hospitality. We'll come back on a Wednesday soon!

Great dough- so fresh- plus perfect balance of cheese and sauce. We moved to Phoenixville from Philly and were used to great Pizza. I like this place better than Lazaro's and Gianfranco's. Plus nice staff.

The staff here is fantastic. Really nice people who will have a conversation with you, and the convenience of being a place that sells beer is also really nice. The pizza? Solid. Nothing earth-shattering, but not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

Great pizza, fast delivery, and both the phone people and the delivery people are good at the customer service. Phone people are courteous and friendly. Delivery people are also friendly - even when I'm drunk and screw up the tip calculations on the credit card receipt. I ordered a mushroom-garlic-sausage pizza last night and they asked if I wanted fresh garlic - yay! Also, they quoted me 30-45 minutes and I'm pretty sure the guy arrived in 20 minutes, max. This is pretty normal (but then again we live about 1 mile away from them, so we're close).

The only thing that was palatable was the French fries, which had no salt. Probably a good thing as they don't know how to use seasoning here. We ordered the vegetable pizza, the broccoli bites, French fries, and mozzarella sticks. Everything came from the freezer or a jar. I get that a fast service pizza place needs to take some shortcuts. But using sodden frozen spinach that winds up in unappetizing clumps on your pizza AND which results in a soggy pizza? Inexcusable when every other pizza place invests in the fresh bagged stuff. Not much more price wise ,doesn't require any more prep work, and doesn't make your vegetable pizza inedible. The broccoli was frozen as well, so it was tasteless and mushy. Again, buy some fresh precut. Vegetable pizza probably isn't your best seller, but you can also use the spinach and broccoli for other things. Like maybe try using something other than green lettuce ( my guess is cellophane) in your salads. A pizza place needs to have at a minimum, good crust or good sauce. It was initially hard to tell about the crust, since it was soggy. Warm up in the oven the next day didn't improve it much. The sauce was flavorless, and the pie itself was laden with cheese. Not something I usually complain about, but as it was already soggy, it didn't need to be loaded down with anything else. The cheese wasn't that good, either. Probably the same pre-shredded stuff other pizza places buy. But together the flaccid toppings, flavorless sauce, soggy crust, and sub par cheese conspired to make it a horrid pizza. The broccoli bites were shaped like cut broccoli, but actually was batter shaped into a floret with a little broccoli and some cheese. Both the broccoli bites and the mozzarella sticks were served with the flavorless sauce, so not only were they greasy and heavily battered, there was nothing to dunk them in that would help. If you are really desperate for delivery, go Pat's, which is marginally better and at least has spinach salads and fresh vegetables. If you are driving, try Vecchia and let me know how it is.

I gotta go 1 star on this. I feel guilty because on the one hand the order (delivery) was hot and fresh. It was as though we were there and it was brought to our table. The problem was that in the past, and to be honest its been over a year, Sals had the best Pie in town. The hot, fresh pizza they delivered was, and I say this with much Phoenixville experience, mediocre. It was no better than any of the other mediocre Phoenixville pizzas I've had. (For all you native Phoenixvillers out there, it's not about you. Good pizza is good pizza and Sals used to have good pizza) What the hell is wrong with this town? Can't anybody make a decent pie, and be profitable? I am sure that anyone in Phoenixville would pay the extra cost required to have a better pizza. I hear Vecchia is fabulous but they don't deliver. I just don't get it.

Best Sicilian pizza in the area and they also make a pretty darn good hoagie. They also have a great selection of beer.

We used to get cheesesteaks and fries, great portions for the money but nothing out of this world. Their pizza on the other hand if you can get it hot and fresh (which is usually if you pick it up, as it is for most places) it is delicious!!

Friendly staff, with always-on cool Spanish-language TV -- and it's a good place to buy a six-pack, with a decent (tho' small) selection -- but stay away from the pizza. It's pretty lousy. I once ordered a garlic pizza and I think they just opened a jar of canned garlic and dumped it on top of a plain pie. Cheese pies are OK if you are not picky, but anything else is dangerous.

I have lived a block away from Sal's pizza box for most of my life, so this may be a bit biased! I've been a customer here for at least the past 12 years, probably a few more than that. I normally stop in for either some convenient beer, at a bit expensive prices, or for some quick food. They actually have a pretty good selection of beers, but as others have said, they are a bit pricey. Then again, there is not much else in the immediate vicinity for acquiring alcohol. The pizza is pretty good. I typically get single slices, if you're there before 9pm they have a selection of different types of toppings on the available slices. I highly recommend the Garlic Sticks with side of sauce, though these used to be cheaper. The food is also a bit expensive, but again, no other pizza places for a few blocks in every direction, and I imagine their rent is expensive. I've never had their food delivered. Staff is friendly, the core staff has been the same for as long as I can remember and we often chit-chat. Small indoor area for seating, and the benched seats aren't too comfy.

Update - I went there the other day to get some beer for a guest who was coming over - Pizza Box charges $3-$4 a BOTTLE for even the most average beer! I didn't see any 6 packs. I walked right out and went to Franco Ristorante where I purchased a 6 of Stella Artois for $12 or so. No reason to go to Pizza Box ever again!

I've been here several times and every time i have come i ordered a slice of pizza which i enjoyed. The staff is friendly. They have a small selection of beer but can be pretty pricey. Parking here can be quite messy.

Horrible!!! We read all good reviews about this place so we ordered for a delivery, a pizza and a grape soda. When the guy got here he handed us a pizza and said we never ordered a soda. He left and we open up the pizza and all the toppings are on one side of the box. We then call them back and say what the pizza was like and they said they will bring us another one. So we threw out the first one because it will cold also. They call back saying we have to come pick it up because they are busy!! We asked them to just refund us our money. We checked out account and try charged us again. Called us back and asked if it went through Okay? We said no we were charged again and she said she will try again and never heard anything back from her again!! Still waiting on our money

My place of choice for pizza and cheesesteaks in the Phoenixville area. The hoagies are good too, but served a little strangely, like open-face.
