It might be a front for some money laundering enterprise. It might be some guys who saw other people make pizza and thought, "that doesn't look hard." It might be that I'm too picky. But whichever, the pizza there made me not want to eat pizza again - anywhere.

We've tried sandwiches and steaks here, both to eat-in and for take-out, and we've been very happy. The food is tasty, services is friendly and the dining room is clean.

One word describes their cheese steaks and that word is Perfect. Everything was amazing. The meat was tender and tasty. The roll was fresh. There was tons of provolone and just the right amount of fried onions included. The cheesesteak from Hog Island Steaks is by far the best cheesesteak I have ever had. I also tried their wings. They were only average. The were decent sized, but cooked a tad too long and they could have used a little more sauce.

This place is not up to par quality of food is poor and to top it off I have found hairs in my food and so did my friend we called and let them know they said sorry and offered to make us new sandwiches but I declined that was enough for me I am so done with this place. Where is the health department

I was greeted by a thick veil of smoke. Everyone seemed really busy and my order was not ready in 20 minutes when I arrived. I am happy that they are busy, but I waited a full 15 minutes for my stromboli to be finished and it was not worth the wait. More on that later. My wife ordered a chicken parm and it was made from frozen chicken fingers. Hog Island's web site talks about taking pride in fresh ingredients but the chicken parm must be an exception. The sandwich tasted very much like it sat the entire 15 minutes while my stromboli baked. To their credit, Hog Island did happily substitute mozzarella, I guess chicken parm with provolone is a Philly thing. I ordered the large stromboli and it did not come with a side of sauce. I thought maybe they forgot it? I re-read the menu and side of sauce doesn't seem to be included. The stromboli itself was very thin and extremely loose, falling apart when I cut into it. The sausage was unremarkable but the peppers & onions were decent. Overall, Hog Island was below my expectations. I realize that I am judging a cheesesteak shop by their chicken parm & stromboli, but the service & atmosphere were definitely lacking. The price was right, and to be honest, I would give them another chance... but I will not be getting either of these menu items again.

Excellent place to get your fill of cheesesteaks outside of Philly. The bread is fresh, meat absolutely delicious and the only downside is they do American as standard. Prices are reasonable and they have some good lunch specials. They also added booths in their restaurant recently.

Ordered take-out via phone last night. Guy on the other end was super friendly and told us 15-20 minutes for an order of poppers, two sandwiches and a medium pie. Ready when my wife showed up in 20. Solid. The poppers were excellent....cheddar cheese people. Served with a side of ranch. I really enjoyed my chicken cheesesteak hoggie (lettuce, tomato, onion) and it was huge. My wife's small regular cheesteaak w/ friend onions did not disappoint either. I tried a bite and the meat was the best part, which it should be. Not overly cheesy and the onions were the right amount and cooked perfectly. Not greasy at all and that was the most surprising....so used to it being super messy. The roll was a bit stiff, so I would prefer a softer roll, giving more attention to what is on the outside. Otherwise, reasonable pricing. Medium plain cheese pizza, poppers and two sandwiches for $29 is a-ok by me. We'll be back again soon enough.

Great food, super friendly staff and quick delivery! What more could you want from your neighborhood pizza & cheesesteak joint?! We always order the chipotle wings and white pizza. So delicious :) Only complaint is a minor one, most of the time when we order they are out of their desserts!! Not a big deal but sometimes I'm craving something sweet. Anyway you can't go wrong with this place so give it a try!

Ordered delivery last night. Ordered a Mushroom Cheesesteak with American, a Cheesesteak with Whiz, Fried Onions, and Spinach, Mozzarella sticks, and a medium veggie pizza. The cheesesteaks are fantastic, the star of the show. They rival some of the better places in Philly, and they are packed with meat, like a Jim's Steak, not a Pat's steak (no disrespect). Great bread, nice and soft. What a Philly cheesesteak should be. The mozzarella sticks were good, pretty generic but on the upper end. The pizza was also not bad and had a great amount of veggies on it. Looking forward to ordering again sometime.

Hog Island Steaks has been churning out the best cheesesteaks in Phoenixville for a few years now. In fact, they've won several awards confirming this, including "Best of Philly" and "Best Cheesesteak in Phoenixville" from Phoenixville Patch. Now, they're looking to dazzle and amaze with their new hand tossed pizza. The first thing I noticed about this pizza is the very thin crisp crust. It's just enough to create the perfect vessel for the other ingredients. The dough itself really tasty and the cheese has a nice saltiness to it. The pepperoni is also very high-quality, and both cheese and pepperoni were generously and evenly applied. This pie is sleek and you can eat a lot of it. It really goes down easy and smooth. Why not take advantage of the killer special they have... 2 medium plain pizzas for 11.99 (toppings extra), or 2 large plain pizzas 15.99 (toppings extra). You can't beat that! When all is said and done, this pizza gets a 7 out of 8 slices on the Slice-O-Meter. I could eat a whole one in one sitting! More reviews at oneninefoursixzero.com

Best steaks in the area IMHO. They never skimp on the meat and it's so tender. You definitely get your dollars worth. Pizza is pretty good as well, but this place is called Hog Island STEAKS for a reason, it's what they do best. Jalapeno poppers are also worth a try. Haven't had anything I didn't enjoy.

This is a great spot. Whenever I am in the Philly area, I try to get a cheesesteak. I've been to all the "best". Hog Island is every bit as good and probably even better than the others. (Philadelphia Magazine readers voted them #1) I had their lunch special - an 8 inch cheesesteak with fries and a fountain drink for $8.50. The sandwich was stuffed with freshly sliced/freshly cooked steak. The Whiz was the original Kraft brand - you can tell the difference! The fries were hot and crispy. They even keep their ketchup bottles refrigerated. The dining area is clean and the owner and his staff were very friendly. If you like cheesesteaks and are anywhere near this place, you should give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

Arguably one of the better hoagie/burger places in Phoenixville. Their western burger is always good and the "mega" fries....yesssss...the "mega" fries!!! (Insert picture of drooling Homer Simpson here).

Original cheesesteak was above average. A little dry. One half tasted better than the other oddly.

So glad this place opened! Their sandwiches are awesome and so huge that I always either split one with my guy or make two meals out of it. The rolls are soft and fresh and they put so much meat on the sandwich. I've had the chicken steak, the italian hoagie and the tuna hoagie and all are good. The pizza however, is just so so - but I give them props for trying. All in all, a good place to eat!

Hog Island has wide selection of food on the menu. They have steaks, hoagies, hoagie steaks, pizza, pizza steaks, wings, burgers, burger hoagies, buffalo wings and more. I went with the cheese burger hoagie which consisted of lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, with chopped up burger on a sandwich roll. It was good, but not enough cheese on it, and I ended up globing some Franks Red Hot on it. I'm not going to write Hog Island off just yet. With such a vast menu I'm sure they have better. Maybe next time I'll ask for a recommendation from one of the staff. The staff was nice and the shop inside had a nice open seating arrangement. Like Arnold says "I'll be back".

After two stops at this fine establishment, they are as good if not better than what they brag, "best cheesesteaks in the area". Im by no means a cheesesteak expert, having only lived in PA for 3 years. However, I do know tasty food. Their cheesesteak, in my humble opinion, is better in taste than Tony Luke's and actually even better than Max and Emma's in Delco. I've also sampled their inside out which was fabulous. The Texas tommy dog was amazing. The wife had the caesar wrap. Everything was amazing! The portions are really good. You can get two meals out of every item. This place is a great addition to the Phoenixville dining scene, and a welcome break from the pizza place complacency...Please go and support them!

Love this place, I've had cheesesteaks and hoggies. Both were fantastic! The roll is great, the deli meat was fresh and there was plenty of it on the sandwich. Only criticism is that they charge a delivery fee, but I guess thats because some people don't tip. Highly recommend

I rarely post and want to stress the excellent qualtiy of the service and their cheese steaks. The meat is tender and flavorful. Its not greased up like the other places. The bread is soft and holds the piles of meat very nicely. Fries are always fresh. I ate on site. Never take out. Was introduced bya friends and they converted me. I've tried many other places and this is hands down the best in the area.

Hands down the BEST cheesesteaks around. Maybe it was that I was so hungry but I was blown away by my beef cheesesteak with mushrooms, fried onions and provolone cheese. I'm pretty sure they laced it with crack (joke) but whatever they did, I hope they keep doing it because I will keep ordering. Love you guys and thank you for bringing real cheesesteaks to Phoenixville. A happy day for these borough residents!

I've had cheesesteaks and hoggies (hoagies) from here and have not been disappointed. They put a lot of meat on them. But I always order delivery and have never set foot inside the shop. The fries usually arrive soggy, so I've stopped ordering them. The delivery is very fast. I order from here during my weak moments. Obviously since I am the Duchess, I have more weak moments than I care to admit.... That is all.

My favorite cheesesteak place. Made with fresh ribeye cut daily, not frozen meat. Wings there are good as well. Love the steak fries. They make them fresh with your sandwich, so they're always hot. They don't just premake them and leave them sitting under heat lamps like at a fast food place. They have a big screen TV in the store that's usually tuned to ESPN, so it's pretty convenient to eat in there. But I do sometimes do takeout, and yes the fries will get soggy unless you let them air out. But if you do that, then your car will smell like fries.
