So much has been said about GAP, but here's the scoop: you'll be hard pressed to find a place that wants to exceed your expectations like this place. Number one, they probably robbed one of the US mints to restore the Columbia Hotel and you can tell they put a LOT of thought into that process. The atmosphere is as hypnotic as the third night at Woodstock. The interior is amazingly cozy which is good because you're DEFINITELY going to get a food coma here. And they just opened the outdoor seating and bar which is what you're looking for when you're trying to pound down some of the great beer variety or maybe you're just looking sit on one of the awesome patio couches with a friend, loved one, or an adventurous stranger. But to get to the meat of this review, which is ironic because I'm vegan. AND SO IS A GOOD PART OF THEIR MENU. Finally we can praise Allah, Jesus, and Jehovah for some stuff your face full of falafel drizzled in MAGIC balsamic sauce VEGAN FAIRE. I mean, if I'm there, I'm usually trying to locate the head chef after my meal just to whisper sweet nothings in his ear (mostly about how much I love him for making this amazing vegan food), which my wife does not appreciate as much as I do. You don't have to be vegan to enjoy GAP, but if you are, get ready for a roller coaster ride full starting at brussels sprouts and beet salad that will make you whimper like puppy - to heavenly chick pea tacos full of guacamole wrapped in lettuce to be washed down with an organic fruit smoothie... Ok I'm going to shut up now because I'm getting super hungry and the place doesn't even open until tomorrow.

Everyone here loves the GAP, so maybe we were just there on an off-day, because we had a less than stellar experience. We sat outside and the waitress was MIA for most of our visit and we sat in the one glider that didn't work right! Our food was okay- my husband ordered pasta (a little soupy but flavor was okay), I ordered a burger and salad (not great), but the philly cheesesteak egg rolls were pretty good. We'll likely try the GAP again-maybe we'll get a more enthusiastic waitress and the overall experience will be a little better.

Let me start by saying that we visited on one of the busiest days of the year for Phoenixville (Food Truck festival), but our group showed up as the block event was winding down, so GAP had some to recover. We arrived promptly for our 5:30 reservation and walked over to the hostess to tell her who we are and she states that she can seat a table for four only. We explain to her that we have a reservation for 8 and after a minute, she gets it and sets up a table for 8, as many tables were now empty and they just needed to throw down some place settings. Seated after just a few minutes....nice. Our waitress comes over to say hello, explain how nuts the day was, how they had to shut down for 1.5 hours due to the volume, yet stressed the importance of good service (funny now after what we experienced). She takes our drink order and she is off and running. Shortly after, we all get our drinks. One of the guys in our group can put them down and drains his Corona in a few minutes. He tries to get her attention to get another and even went as far as ordering two so she didn't have to come back so often...nope, she was not doing that. I guess she thought he was kidding...maybe there's a rule of no double fisting. Have to look into that. Needless to say, he probably had 6 of them in our two hours there and it was a struggle to get any of our additional drinks the entire night. She kept telling us how backed up the bar was, but we peeked over to the bar and it was completely empty. She also kept telling us she had to go downstairs each and every time for the beers we were requesting....they were local canned craft beers on their menu, so perhaps they just ran out upstairs. We weren't getting the beers we ordered, but they were cold and wet so we just drank them for fear we would never see her again. It was comical to see her care less and less each and every time she came back to our table. It probably took her 45 minutes to ask if we wanted to order food, which we did. We were definitely a drinking bunch that night, but we wanted to eat. Food was hit or miss for our table. My wife ordered her burger medium rare and it had a pulse....I love pink and could not eat it. Hand cut sweet potato fries were great, as was the crab artichoke dip. I loved the Drunken Shrimp I ordered and the small portion was anything but small. Pesto Turkey Burger and Penne Fresco were a couple other of the winners this night. Towards the end of our meal, they even ran out of limes for the Corona. It can happen I guess, but can't say I've ever heard that one before. Throughout the evening, we watched as a two top would get sat and after 20 minutes of minimal attention, the couple would get up and leave. This happened to 3 different couples during our time there. In the end, our night was fun but so many times during our stay, we kept thinking..."let's get the hell out of here and go someplace where we can get some actual service." Because of the company and laughs, I am glad we stayed. Bring on the beach!

Great new little place. Outdoor seating is superb and the live music outdoors was excellent. Gap is a gap but this one due to the outdoor piece is a lot better than most. Recommended

My boyfriend and I decided to go to the Great American Pub in Phoenixville for some apps and drinks for my birthday. We went to the inside bar and sat down. A women bartender gave us a warm greeting and asked what we would like. We order drinks and some apps (dumplings and the chicken quesadilla). Both of which were great for the price, it was happy hour. We were talking and the bartender heard it was my birthday and immediately wished me Happy Birthday and offered a free drink. That was an unexpected treat! After a bit we decided to go outside since it was such a nice day and I was having a few friends come out to meet me for Birthday Drinks. We sat at the outside lounge area near the fountain. BTW: the outside area is a great area to hang with friends; it's just fantastic and fun. As soon as we sat down a waitress came over to ask us what we would like. At this point we had drinks but we told her that we will be having a few more friends join us and asked her if she would mind if we pulled some of the furniture over to make our area bigger. She was so nice and said "absolutely, not a problem". As soon as some friends arrived our waitress ran over to see if we need anything. Before you know it we had about 15 friends join us. I thought we would be overwhelming to the waitress but she was right on top it and even had a big smile on her face. She didn't seem to mind at all. The food was 5 stars and so was all the service we received. Keep up the great work, we will be back!!! p.s. They have a smoker that they use to cook some of the items on the menu. So the next time I go back I will be ordering one of their slow roasted sandwiches, which look awesome.

Ugh. Worst food. Bad service. Wait staff is nice and don't blame them. We tried 3 times and every time was worse than the previous. Such a shame. Location is great. Place looks nice. But unless they get a handle on the food and service don't waste your time...it doesn't make the location worth it. I really really want to love this place but won't be back
(1)Kirstie L.
We were seated by an old man at a table that had the previous customers' dirty dishes on it. Had to wait awkwardly for our waiter to come and wipe everything down. Then waited close to 30 minutes before anyone came to get our order. Another waitress actually took our order. The food took at least another 30 minutes to come out. Our waiter didn't return at all. Then spent 20 minutes waiting for our check, that was again given to us by the other waitress. Before she even bothered giving us our check she spent 15 minutes unloading her whole life story on to the customers at the table behind us. The food was okay but I will never return because I received the same terrible service at the Conshohocken location.

Had a wonderful experience here celebrating my Aunt's 50th Birthday. We reserved tables upstairs for about 20ish people on a Friday night. It was very chill and sort of private, esp because we got there on the early side of dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful, always filling drinks and making sure everyone was taken care of. There is a bar upstairs which is convenient. I had the crab cake sandwich was was delicious. I also want to mention the pickles- spicy pickles- were AWESOME!! So good. Our party mostly ordered sandwiches, fries, etc and everyone was impressed. I am excited for the summer to sit and hang in their outdoor area.

My husband and I just went for the first time since the new ownership and I have to say how impressed we were with the service, the food, and how beautiful the building looks now. My husband is an incredibly picky eater (no seriously - - a total PITA to cook for) and he leaned over and said to me "I think we've found our new date night spot". Very much looking forward to spending more time at GAP-pville in the near future.

I think this is my 100th review! I feel like I should make it worthy of this momentous occasion, but I'm not sure i have it in me tonight. Great outdoor seating area and the inside is gorgeous. A live band was playing and that's always a good time. Our server had a great personality and seemed to really enjoy her job. I am the eternal DD, but my dad and hubs enjoyed the draft beer selection. Of 4 entrees, 3 were delicious. I loved my mushroom ravioli; my mom's was a penne fresca- healthy, but needed a little more flavor. We sat at a raised glider table....kind of odd. The seat backs slope, which is conducive to kicking back with a cocktail, but you certainly can't eat that way. So we had to sit with our butts at the edge of the seat...kind of awkward and uncomfortable. Watching my parents exit the table after several drinks was amusing, however.

Yikes Yelp! This was not a good experience. We thought that we would try this restaurant after they purchased it from the the old "Columbia Hotel". Cool that they turned the parking lot into a swinging (glider) tables and outdoor beer/bar area. That's when it went to bad. Our waitress explained that our order would be delayed (30 minutes) as there was problems in the kitchen. Also, they would not accept my veterans card (10% off) on 9/11!!

Great place to unwind, enjoy a good beer and a great meal. Stopped in on a busy Saturday, got seated right away outside in he courtyard and we both had cold beers inside of 3 minutes - great food - the Ribs really are the best and the shrimp salad was enormous! We will certainly return!

What a disaster. Went in and asked for a table. The manager sat us outside. I asked about the slider tables out side. Said "I think there from Florida" ok. Waiter came by seemed nice. Said he would get us water and silverware. I never saw him again . 15 minutes later ( no exaggeration I was looking at my phone)we left and went to a Thai place down the street. It looked charming. Too bad.

Was here during the week and have come back for a late Saturday night dinner. First time we had pretzel bite and brisket quesadilla which were both fantastic. We also had the buffalo chicken dip which was better than most. Had the bread pudding for dessert which waste delight of the evening. Highly recommend stopping in for a bite. Will try to update the results on my second visit soon but so far so good. Been back a few times and hasn't kept the 5 stars. I can't say I would go if asked but not my favorite place. Might be that I like their Wayne locations menu much better and have been able to find an item that hits the spot like I did the first time there. Sold 3.5 stars, just not as good as the Wayne location.

We went to Great American Pub for lunch on a beautiful Sunday and sat in the outside garden. I hadn't been there since they added this area and it is awesome! You can tell there was a lot of thought and care put into every detail, it feels like a happy little oasis away from town, very charming. The service was super attentive, quick and friendly and the ambiance was relaxed and laid back. The food was delicious and I loved the presentation. I love that there was a lot of choices for me as a vegetarian, I ended up getting the baked falafel which was super tasty, lots of spice and just the right texture. My date got the pesto turkey burger and said it was really tasty, as were his steak fries which I nibbled on! Overall, delicious food, friendly and well priced, it's a place I'll visit over and over!

First question I ask anywhere: "Are the burgers frozen?" The answer is almost always "No". I don't know why, but it seems rhetorical at this point. This place serves frozen burgers or cooks them so terribly they essentially come off as frozen. They were nice, the servers were good, and the place was clean. But if you lie and if you serve frozen burgers (or frozen quality), those are two big negatives.

Came here for lunch. There was hardly anyone there and the service was so slow. Food was kinda warm. Beer was kinda warm. My sandwich was missing the sauce. Seems like a place for old people. With all the other cool options in Phoenixville, I won't be back.

One of my favorite local restaurants. Always a great meal. Family friendly, but also great for adult dinner and drinks. We love the various seating options and the specials are always amazing. Great prices, friendly staff, convenient location. This is a must go!
(5)L F.
Brandon our server was great!!! Good food, great atmosphere - we were outside. Good music. We'll be back.
(5)Rula R.
I was totally looking forward to visit this location and it was better than what i thought it would be. excellent decoration, a very calm atmosphere, delicious reasonable priced food and very nice staff. in conclusion, I had a great time and definitely going back for more.

I was very excited to bring my sister here to try out the newly added vegan menu. It was a beautiful evening so we chose to sit outside at one of the glider tables. it was so comfortable and relaxing plus they are dog friendly so my pups got to hang out with us! My sister enjoyed the tasty check pea tacos and I had the falafel entree. The food was fresh & delicious with a lovely presentation on the plate. The place was happening and eveyone seemed to be enjoying themselves at the outdoor bar....not to mention they had great live music! I'd highly recommend the Great American Pub & Hotel to anyone who's visiting downtown Phoenixville and looking for a fun, affordable place to eat!

I was here recently for dinner and it was a disappointment. The service was terrible. Our waitress barley even checked on us and to top it off They delivered my food to another table and I ended up getting someone else's food. When I told the waitress what happened she apologized for it which was nice but it took forever for my food to come out. By the time I got my food I was already frustrated and didn't even want to eat anymore. I may come here again for drinks at the bar but not sure about lunch/dinner.

Stopped in Tuesday night at 8:07 PM. The sign said the dining room closed at 9 PM. Just one other couple was in the dining room. The hostess sat us too close in the otherwise quiet room; I could literally reach over and touch them. Clearly the only waitress had already started cleaning up for the evening and she didn't let us distract her from her closing duties. We sat for a long time waiting for anyone to come around and take our order. Maybe 10 minutes or so before she took our drink and food order. I think a manager brought out our appetizer. She laughed when she saw that our drinks and water hadn't been brought to the table yet. By now we sat idle for 20 minutes. The manager apologized and went and got the cocktails after another short delay. I got the seafood chowder. It was delicious. Didn't see the waitress since taking the initial order until 15 minutes later when she came by and apologized. She said the kitchen was behind because of a big order. Odd since we were the only customers. A few minutes later she brought our food. I got chili nachos topped with almost a whole tablespoon of guacamole. It was barely ok for bar food. 10 minutes later I waved down the waitress to ask again that she bring around the salsa, sour cream and the waters we asked for initially. Oddly the other staff was friendly, pleasant and quick with smiles. But service was exceptionally awful. Really really awful. And the food, eh, some good and some not so much. And then there was the spider lurking on the wall over the table ...

They have a new outdoor bar/seating area. Its the best. Big outside bar with TVs. Comfy outdoor sofas and heaters,if needed. The food is good and the beers are cold.
(4)Katherine B.
I had dinner here tonight with a friend. We sat outside on one of the gliding tables which was awesome! It was a great environment. Music playing, people lounging and laughing! I had a great time. Service was pretty slow but it was our waitresses first day so that's expected. Overall, definitely would go again!
(4)Stephanie C.
Really bad bartender service. Took 10 minutes to even look at us and there were only 4 others at the bar. Food is okay. Typical bar food.
(2)Mike H.
Very friendly and efficient service. We came for bar food /wings so my expectations weren't high. Wings are good- beer selection was ok. Tables along the side of the building as opposed to right on bridge st. is what sealed the deal for picking this place - great little covered booths. I will def go back
(4)Friend H.
Nice looking place, but very poor service. Mediocre food, but pricey. Never again. Too many other good places in downtown Phoenixville to enjoy.
(1)Justin C.
I love their cheesesteak spring rolls! They are my favorite place to eat them anywhere. There is another restaurant in the area that claims to have the best but it's not even a contest. My wife want chili cheese fries but they didn't have them on the menu when we were there. We asked our waiter if he could take the chili cheese nachos and put them on fries. He did and it was good! The staff is always friendly and the food has great flavor. If you are a fan of smoked meat try the pulled pork!
(5)Courtney G.
The place is set up very nice and the outside area looked amazing. Unfortunately it was a little chilly outside so we ate in the dining room. The menu set up was all over the place but had a lot of good options. Two people at our table got the pasta dishes which were very good! The service was average. Will definitely be back to indulge in the outdoor area.
(3)Jay Panfil P.
One of the best dinners I have had in a long time. Service was great. Plenty of menu options nicely presented. Will certainly be going back.
(5)Eric P.
Not good! The service was horrible and the food was just ok. Our order was all brought out wrong and salads were forgotten. The waiter, a former Army graduate, could not hold his concentration and seemed to be confused at even the most basic items. He brought 3 different glasses of wine..all wrong. The filet was about 4oz and cooked poorly. We will never go back.
(1)Julie F.
It was a beautiful Thurs, and I was off early. I wanted to try this place for lunch, and enjoy it outdoors. I walked inside the front door, looking for someone who cared that I was there. There was a gentleman standing at the entrance to what must be the bar. He just looked at me, so I said, "may I see a menu"? He grabbed one and handed it to me. No conversation at all. I'm a vegetarian, and only saw a few things that would work for me. After the cold reception and a menu fit for a carnivore, I decided to move on. Yes, I was a female, dining alone, but I tip exceptionally well for good service. Their loss.

Went on a Sunday evening for a later dinner--7:30ish. We always sit at the bar whenever we try a new place, because it is pretty much impossible to be ignored. The Great American Pub has maintained the beauty and architecture of its former life, the Columbia Hotel. +1 for that! The mister and me perused the beer list and menu. I found the macro-focused beer list uninspired (-1). The food menu is rather varied an can be described as pub-style, with a little more originality. There are several soups/sides to begin, about a dozen appetizers, a variety of hand-cut fry styles to choose from. In addition to the above, there are several made-to-order salads, lots of sandwiches/burgers, entrees (that are available in small and large), as well as pizzas and pastas. They also have a small selection of specials each day. We began with the traditional malt vinegar hand-cut fries. They were delivered in a small bowl, which was perfect for the two of us. I opted for the crabcake entree (large) and the mister ordered the brisket. Both entrees were delivered soon after we finished our appetizer. I was quite pleased with the crabcakes (two were on the plate), they were mostly crab meat with limited filler (+1) and cooked to a golden color. The cocktail sauce was just AOK and the tartar sauce (which I don't use) was actually runny, like a salad dressing (-1). The entree came with mashed potatoes and a side of broccoli. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm and definitely came from a mix (-1). The brisket is served in a skillet over a piece of thick-cut bread with a side of mac-n-cheese. My husband enjoyed it. I had a chance to taste the mac-n-cheese and it was very tasty. Service at the bar was very good and our bartender was attentive and friendly. If the Great American Pub offered more craft brews and offered more seasonal, fresh specials, I think that my review would be more like 4 stars. If you are in the area, check it out, but I would not go out of my way to dine here.
(3)Cindy B.
I was very excited to have an American Pub open in Phoenixville and was not disappointed! The atmosphere is very peaceful and the staff are very friendly! I went for their New Years buffet and was able to meet the head chef who came out to greet the guests! The food was amazing and we all had an excellent time. I look forward to returning again!
(5)Meghan C.
I love the Great American Pub! I recently visited there and had the pork quesadillas. They are to die for I highly recommend them. My friend got the brisket platter and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. They decorated so nicely for Christmas it is a great atmosphere to be in. I will defineltly be returning soon!
(5)Maximilian R.
I came in here with an old college friend of mine on a Wednesday! We came for the 25 cent wings and ended up staying for awhile! What kept us there was the crab cakes and seafood linguine , both dishes were excellent! I'll becoming back soon.
(5)Adam S.
The inside is small, the outside is the saving grace. But the outside closes at 10 on the weekends!! They claim it's a township ordinance. Go to the Pickering Creek Inn if you want to sit outside at night.
(2)Bobby S.
This place has a great vibe since they recently renovated, but the food was so-so. We ordered the cheesesteak eggrolls to start and they were fantastic, but I would not recommend the Texas Brisket. It was very tender, but the real BBQ taste is lacking. I asked the waitress how it was cooked and she believed it was cooked in a smoker, so I decided to try it. It does not taste at all like it was cooked in a smoker, and I believe it's kept in some sort of juice or something until someone orders it, which is not the way real BBQ should be kept. Keep in mind that I finished it and the mac and cheese was good, but I wouldn't order it again. I will return at some point and give another dish a try.
(4)Robert B.
Mediocre food at best.... Expensive mediocre food. Service was fine. Beer was cold, just nothing memorable. Probably won't be back. The pickles were awesome though.
(2)Michelle F.
I LOVE the Great American Pub. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is delicious. Several healthy options, gluten free or even vegan and they even have dishes my picky kids love. There really is something for everyone. The staff are wonderful. It's my favorite hangout after a busy day of work. I love the outdoor seating too. It's a great place to chill any night of the week.
(5)Vanessa M.
I went in there with my child and husband and it was the worst experience ever! First it took the waitress about 5 minutes just to great us and than another 20 minutes to take our order. Anyone with kids knows that they don't have much time before they start throwing tantrums. The mini sliders that we ordered took 47 minutes!!! By that time I had one bite and my daughter had enough and I had to box it. No apologies were made to is and nothing was told to the manager which was inconsiderate. What pissed me off even more was that I had to change my daughter on the sink because they had no changing tables! Please do yourself a favor and go eat somewhere else with better service and the food wasn't worth it either.
(1)Stephen M.
Went here when first opened slow service good food. Tried again for my fiancé father's birthday. Had party of six called ahead said did not need reservation for party under 8. Went in and told us we could squeeze into small both or sit at separate tables. Hostess short blonde girl rolled her eyes at us and was extremely rude. Needless to say we went elsewhere. Will never go to this establishment again. We have no use for poor service.
(1)Jimi V.
The Good: - beautifully restored building - custom bar imported from Europe - very friendly and knowledgeable maître d, Marco - on site smoker with some nice and tasty sandwich options - easy parking - plenty of seating, inside and out Needs Improvement: - lackluster beer menu - need to store/serve red wine properly...out of direct sunlight...took a look at both bars (including 2nd floor bar/lounge, which is very nice) and noticed opened bottles with corks in, sitting on shelves in direct sunlight, getting warm. Sent 1 glass back ($8 per) due to rancid and bitter taste and warm temp. - lackluster wine menu...not a wine snob at all, but Yellow Tail, Woodbridge and Cupcake don't cut it at those prices Really want to see this place do well and with some minor and easy improvements it can!
(3)Jerold J.
It's a bar with bar food. Fries were good, basic bar type stuff. The service is way to slow...just opened, so maybe they'll work it out but so so slow
(3)Jessica M.
Besides the very rude, unknowledgeable waitress who gave us a very hard time about splitting our bills, then still got the bills wrong, the experience at this restaurant was pretty good. We were seating fast and food was great. I'll definitely be going back and crossing my fingers we don't get that waitress again!
(4)David G.
I came for the brisket. It had a nice texture, but a bit dry. The bark was thin on most of the pieces. Not much smoke flavor. All in all, an average non-Texan brisket . Mac & cheese was outstanding, creamy and flavorful, as was the homemade jalapeno cucumber pickles. Started off with seafood gumbo which was completely forgettable. Standard restaurant chain soup. My wife loved her fried oyster wrap with homemade chips. I highly recommend Uncle B's BBQ for brisket in the Phoenixville area. He runs a smoker outside of Fenice Creolo in the Eland Village shopping center. It's the site of the old Epicurean restaurant. Good idea to call him check on what's in the smoker that day. 610-935-1363.

Great food, fun ambiance and very accommodating and friendly staff. Came in on fourth of July and they were able to squeeze are rather large party in last minute and it was absolutely fabulous! Our waitress was fun, funny and quick! Food was delicious and that's saying a lot, considering I'm a Vegan and the place is a Pub type restaurant. Also, absolutely adore the chef! A while back I visited their other location and there was nothing on the menu that was veg friendly, but that didn't matter, he just whipped me up something special. Nothing like that kind of service!
(5)Katie M.
I call this place the Great American Disappointment. We tried it out for dinner, around 5:00pm on a Sunday. We decided to seat ourselves at a booth in the bar area (being that no one was at the door to greet us). It took a good 15 minutes for any of the severs to acknowledge our presence - quite infuriating considering that the family of 3 that strolled in behind us was served right away. It wasn't until I made irritated passive aggressive eye contact with one of the confused looking servers in the back, who then asked the other servers who had our table, that one of them jumped in and came over. After listening to her laundry list of specials, she asked if we were ready to order. We both stared at her with blank faces and informed her that we didn't even have menus! Slow service aside, the food was decent at best. The beer list is pretty weak for a place that calls itself a "pub"...not a very good impression for a place that just opened. Will probably give it another chance, maybe during peak hours.
