America's Oldest Ice Cream Company available in Phoenixville?? Bassetts is AWESOME and Brown's Cow is *the* spot to get it. The owner, Warren Brown, is super cool and also carries a selection of gelatos and vegan frozen treats. You cannot miss out on the waffle cones that are freshly dipped on premises or the Blob-wich (ice cream sandwich). Brown's Cow is open seasonally from April - October and as the saying goes, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." I sure do miss this place in the winter, but when Brown's Cow is open for biz, you know it is spring time!

My kids and I love this place. Small old fashioned ice cream parlor. They do not make their own ( it's Bassetts which is pretty awesome!) There is limited seating inside so on the weekends it is best to sit on the benches and tables outside. They also do not take credit or debit cards so bring CASH.

I love my parents, really I do! I love them so much that every now and then I make the trek out dreaded 76 just to go and spend some quality time with them. At least, that's what I'd have them believe...... Truth be told, I go because on a warm summer night after the delicious home cooked meal has settled in my stomach my Dad comes up from the basement to smoke a cigarette and says to my Mom and I (as if he hasn't been planning it all night) "hey, you guys wanna go to get some ice cream?" I'm almost 30 years old and not ashamed to say that I still love when my Dad takes me out for ice cream! Brown's Cow hits the spot every time! Mr. Brown himself is sweet and friendly and knows a crapload about old school Phoenixville. To boot, he serves Bassetts which is the best locally made ice cream, the shop is cute and has a throwback sort of vibe. His staff is really nice and they have plenty of flavor options (vegan stuff too).

The atmosphere/decor is very retro and I like it. I ordered the Mocha Chip and it was delicious. The server was very sweet and tolerated my goofiness. The "small" is a pretty decent size...I probably should have gotten the Junior (sorry Weight Watchers). They have a variety of cones to choose from, though the "special cones" aren't made there it's still a nice touch. Will definitely go back.

This place is awesome! I've been several times and everything I've ever had there has been great. Parking can be a pain but I've never had to hunt for a spot when we were just going here. Like everyone else says, bring cash!

Browns cow is a great place in the summer. They serve Bassett's Ice Cream and offer the greatest flavors. I can come here and get Gadzooks in a chic dipped waffle cone! Win!!!!

Squee! A great family run icecream shop. Super friendly staff. Plus they make an awesome milkshake. Be forewarned though, they do not take cards.

I love this place. The mint oreo milkshake was among the best ice cream treats I have ever had. The service is great, and I feel lucky to have a place like this close to where I live. Seriously, this is very, very good.

No summer evening window shopping experience would be complete without a scoop of ice cream. Last night we were taken here by family and it was the best ice cream I've ever had. I can only speak for the "WHYY Experience" which is a delight with a chocolate covered pretzel in every bite, but I expect all the flavors were a rich and creamy as the vanilla in this excellent flavor.

Best ice cream in the area. Clean and friendly place. Can't believe the summer is almost over and I just found this place. Highly recommend.

Best ice cream in phoenixville, and you know what's even better? The pretzel cone! Absolutely delicious. I also love the decor of the place!

I love the basset's ice cream however prices are kind of steep all in all this is a great little place in town to get some ice cream for dessert.

My spouse insisted on going in to see if they had an alternative ice cream. His spidey senses were right! Tofutti soymilk ice cream (chocolate) plus two sorbets, raspberry and mango when we were there. Unexpected delight. There are better non-dairy ice creams in my opinion, like the So Delicious brand, but still wonderful to have this in a regular ice cream shop. They may want to note this in the window. We would have walked right by, thinking there was nothing vegan for us.

An okay place to get a frosty treat. Personally, I don't find the Bassett's ice cream they serve anything special. It's a typical commercial ice cream that uses guar gum, xanthan gum and soy lecithin to substitute for milk fat. Premium ice cream should be limited to milk, cream, sugar, egg, and a natural flavoring. And if you aren't serving premium ice cream, you can't be a great ice cream parlor. Basically you're paying to have standard store brand ice cream scooped into a cone or dish. Might be the best Phoenixville has to offer, but nothing all that special. Even a chain Hagan Daz would offer a better scoop. But, you could do worse. Also, Brown Cow is closed from around mid-October until May. Also, Cash Only (so not always convenient on a whim; suburbanites so seldom carry cash these days).

They have this awesome vegan chocolate tofu flavor. If you're in the area you should stop by and ask for it. It's so creamy and delicious! Who needs ice cream?

Yummy, treat yourself to a scoop of bassets ice cream, or even better an old fashioned milk shake! There is always a line, but it moves quickly.
(5)Jonathan H.
Great ice cream. They have the staple flavors but always have some interesting concoctions of their own. Samples are always available. I don't think they took credit cards, which was a little annoying, but I'm finding that more and more common. Love the store and how it's decorated. Staff was very friendly.

"How now brown cow? How now brown cow?"- Ron Burgundy The Brown serves up the hand scooped hard ice cream. I counted roughly about 30 flavors. They have classic flavors like Mint Chocolate Chip to more modern stuff like Gadzooks. I laughed when the toy train sped off at random by the door, or was it a toy trolley car? There's nothing like chomping on a tasty ice cream cone while walking around the amusements of Phoenixville.

Another 5 Star. Warren Brown (the owner) loves what he does and it shows in his small, old-time ice cream parlor. The selection is just right and the ice cream is hand made in Philadelphia and is out of this world. If you have not tried this ice cream then you have to make it a big "To Do" on your list. We always go out in downtown Phoenixville for food, fun, drinks, shopping and then Browns Cow for ice cream. That is the perfect end to a warm spring/summer night.

A nice little neighborhood joint, open in-season only. They sell Bassett's ice cream (i.e., not made in-house) at reasonable prices. I have to admit that when this place opened I was hoping for something a little more funky and unique. The ice cream really is excellent in quality though, and it's a cozy place to sit. Very family-friendly.

I really love this little ice cream parlor. It's not convenient for parking, but if you are already strolling downtown, this is spot worth a little extra walk uphill to get to. The ice creem is not homemade, but it delicious, and high quality. I get a jimmies covered waffle cone, and sit, relax and just people watch as others stroll in to the 'classic-styled' parlor There are several ice cream joints town, To me, this is by far the best.

Worst ice cream place ever!!!! Small scoops, vanilla milkshake that tastes like just milk, banana split that had about 3 oz of ice cream. Totally unimpressed, do not waste your time or money with this place. Plus over priced!!!!

Udderly Delicious as the lettering in the front window proudly proclaims! Browns is busy serving up Bassets ice cream, a local favorite, featuring your favorite standby flavors and a couple of original and locally inspired flavors like Gadzooks and WHYY! (Cheers if you get the references!) Bring your cash for a heaping scoop in a homemade hand dipped waffle cone! There is plenty of seating but it wouldn't be a summer evening without a stroll along bridge street! Friendly and fast service makes this the perfect place to stop for a summer treat!

Cool spot in downtown Phoenixville. Great variety and they even have a couple of vegan choices! Reasonable priced and friendly service. I had salted caramel and macadamia nut! Delicious!
