The Spicy Sesame Tofu is superb and I do recommend it. The almond/cashew chicken tofu was very good but I wouldn't recommend getting the almonds, they seemed to take away from dish. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxing and definitely great for dinner with friends. I don't recommend the the mango slushy, it was basically mango water than an actual slushy.

You know what? I really enjoyed this place. I can't get enough of their sesame tofu, but after tonight- I'm done. The last time I ordered from them, they spilled a container of soup all over my food. The delivery guy threw out the rice and left me with half a container of soup. I contacted the restaurant and they were very rude and gave me the old "Sorry! Nothing else we can do!" Tonight I ordered several things from them and after an hour and a half I get a call from them saying they decided to close early and wouldn't be delivering my meal. Great. Thanks for waiting an hour to let me know. If only this place was run by people with even the slightest bit of common sense. Now it's time to find a new vegetarian Chinese place....

I guess we came here really early because there wasn't another table besides us. We went with the recommendations from yelp and it was pretty good. We went with the soy sauce tofu which was okay. The peanut sauce noodles was our favorite. The tofu stir fry was just okay. Service was okay. Nothing to rave about. I noticed there aren't too many vegetarian options in philly so it's worth visiting again next time I'm in town

A nice smallish 11th Street veggie joint with a comfortable vibe, friendly service, and an interesting menu. I stopped in after an appointment nearby for a late lunch. I was the sole customer and had my pick of tables and all the attention of the lovely proprietress. I went with a Scallion Pancake and the Soft Noodles with Peanut Sauce. The Pancake was hot and the heat waves off it had the aroma of spring onion. Crispy and tasty. Very nice. The Noodles were a large plate (see photo), way more than I could eat, but with a wonderful creamy sauce topped with slivers of Red and Green Pepper, Sprouts and sprinkled with Sesame Seeds. Delicious. I took half of it home, and my car smelled great the whole way. The prices seem an issue here. The apps and noodle dishes seemed fairly marked, and the "Homestyle" offerings @ $10.50 across the board were alright. I did not go for the "Main Courses," but at $15.95 for all items there, it seemed too much given the overall feel of the place. Not sure I would be drawn to that part of the menu given all the other less expensive things ahead of it. There is also a 24 count "Lunch Special" menu that is worth a look @ $6.50. Certainly a decent place for veggie lovers to fill up. Aptly named.

Awesome vegetarian Chinese food. My mother and I loved this place. We had dinner on a Saturday evening around 7. The place was totally empty. I have no idea why. The server was friendly and knowledgable of the preparation and ingredients of the dishes. I got General Tso's tofu prepared with no sugar, as I had requested, it was amazing. My mom got the Eggplant Heaven and it was most definitely as the name implies, heavenly.

Pretty average Chinese restaurant. The food we got was just OK, but would like to go back to try some more options as the menu was pretty big, also the portions were huge. The service was really nice and friendly but a bit slow. Overall nice place but not anything too spectacular.

The first time I been here was a few months prior in like early June . The service was exceptional and the decor was fabulous . However , everything was different this time . The first thing I noticed was that they switched out the tables and the cups . I came back for the sour and spicy soup but this time the soup was foamy and the vegetables in it were tough and stringy . I don't think I'll come back here , that least not in the near future .

These people....I ordered my food online, picked it up, and found out that they got my order wrong when I got home. I called them to let them know, and the response was "Oh, sorry we forgot to tell you. We ran out. We'll give you extra next time." *hang up* Ummm... thanks? seriously? the way she said it, too. There will be no next time because I won't be back. Don't give your business to places with this kind of service.

This restaurant deserves five stars because it tries to do something few restaurants do and it does it well. VL promotes healthy and non-greasy meals, so if you like a lot of colorful, flavorful food, but not a lot of salt, oil, and calories, this is for you. I had a delicious dinner that included the veggie lettuce wraps appetizer (it was served in two bowls, one that had large, hardish bowl-shaped pieces of lettuce and one that contained a delicious recipe of bean sprouts, ham-like pieces of faux meat, and some other things in a scrumptious sauce). Truthfully, I could have stopped at this point. But, I also ordered the Eggplant Heaven main meal. It included a nice portion of eggplant, green beans, fried tofu and oranges in a lovely display, along with a bowl of brown rice. I ate half of it and brought the other half home for tomorrow's lunch. My husband had the sweet and sour soup and the General Tso Vegetarian Chicken. He ate everything and was very satisfied with the flavors. The service was great, but a little slower than some places. This is a small restaurant so make sure you don't arrive famished because you may wait a bit. The restaurant is clean and conveniently located. There are a lot of drinks on the menu, but we had water and the tea they served in a pot. It was not hot enough, but when I asked for a fresh hot pot, I received one immediately. No complaints here.

I'm going with 2 on this one and while that may seem a bit harsh, I think I've just experienced better in the Philadelphia food scene in the realms of vegetarian, chinese and vegetarian-chinese. I don't want to say it's all bad. The bubble tea was actually quite tasty and the service was extremely friendly. I think my gripe is that the decore could use some serious updating and the food was not very flavorful. Actually, I found it quite bland and the presentation was also a bit lackluster. We did the honey "chicken" and I went with the szechuan tofu. The spice was almost non-existant and seemed to have a gummy texture. The honey chicken dish was just nothing to write home about. I would not flat out avoid this place in the future, it just probably wouldn't be my first choice.

I am vegetarian and went to eat dinner with my family at another Chinese restaurant near by. That restaurant offers vegetarian.. Come to realize it's all cooked with meat and they separate it in the end. Immediately found this place, food was ready fast and GREAT!

This was my first time here and I was hoping to eat something that would make me forget about meat for one day and be awesome vegetarian food. I ordered take out and was told it would be 15 min and ended up waiting 45 min. If I was on my lunch break from work, I would be so late. I ordered the lunch special with Mei fun and they forgot to pack me a spring roll and I received no utensils. The food was bland and tasted horrible. This was my first time and will be my last time eating any food from here.

I had a really good experience here last night. It was my boyfriend's sister's birthday and we had a table for six. The dining room is small and we were the only ones there for most of dinner. Mom ordered a bunch of appetizers -- won tons, dumplings, scallion pancakes and fried tofu. I tried everything but the dumplings and the food was so tasty! I'm a vegetarian but I'm not big on Chinese food, so I didn't know what to expect, but I was pretty happy. Next, we ordered several entrees and shared them. We got both the General Tso's chicken (fake chicken made from gluten) and the sesame tofu. The dishes are really similar, so if I had to do it over again, I'd pick one or the other. I did like the tofu slightly more than the Tso's chicken, though. Both came with a ton of broccoli, which was perfectly steamed. We also ordered a noodle dish and a few others. As you would guess, we had a lot of leftovers! Veggie Lovers is a BYOB and we brought wine and beer. Perhaps the best part was that we let them know ahead of time that we were celebrating a birthday and they provided us with a really gorgeous cake. It was small, enough for six people (maybe eight if the slices were smaller) and it was light and airy angel food cake with whipped cream, melon and strawberries on top. I'm assuming it cost extra -- the owner went out and bought the cake somewhere in Chinatown. She also gave us two birthday balloons! Veggie Lovers is a great place to have dinner and an even better place to celebrate a birthday. We'll be back for sure!

I don't quite understand all the positive reviews for this place. I ordered the General Tso's tofu as most of the reviews suggested and it was kinda gross. Seems like they attempted to bake it to give it a meatier texture but it was just an epic fail. It was hard, puffy and soaking in sauce. Gross. Also extremely overpriced for the quality. No me gusta.

I dig Veggie Lovers, ate there once, had delivery once. A really sweet & friendly girl works there, good customer service. Positives: Their General Tso's Tofu is great, I had it twice. I liked their curry potatoes & cauliflower, but it lacked both salt & brightness. Dumplings were great, had them twice too. Loved the spring rolls. I'm such a freak for Chinese appetizers. Negative: Sadly, their hot & sour soup is still sitting in my fridge nearly a week since delivery. I think I had one spoonful? I compare all hot & sour soups to New Harmony's, this one was a fail. Eventually, I need to just spill it down the drain...I can't yet, it still feels wasteful. But yuck. Bad hot & sour soup COULD bring me down to 3 stars, that's how strongly I feel about it... But for another positive: Bubble. Tea. Yes, the presence of vegan bubble tea brought them up to 4 stars. New Harmony will always be my Vegan Chinatown Go-To, but I'll definitely give Veggie Lovers some repeat business, for sure!

SESAME TOFU: FOUR STARS. Because of Courtney J.'s review on Veggie Lovers, I had to try this place! I'm not a strict vegetarian, but I absolutely love eating tofu and vegetables... it just feels good not to eat meat sometimes, you know? The first time I went here was when I ordered two lunch specials for the boyfriend and me: sesame tofu and general tso's "chicken." I wasn't particularly fond of the sides (hot and sour soup was full of starch, eww), but everything else was incredibly tasty. Who knew sesame tofu could taste even better than sesame chicken?? The tofu melted in our mouths and was just so, so good. General tso's "chicken" was made with gluten, I believe, and had the same YUM effect. We even got two beautiful Lunar New Year's calendars because it was a few days before Lunar New Year! The second time, we actually dined in and although it was almost closing time, the lady boss welcomed us anyway (plus points). We had mapo tofu, sesame tofu (again, yes!), fried wontons, and miso soup. Mapo tofu had way too much starch, but it was still edible, I guess. Fried wontons tasted like it was still in the process of defrosting, and miso soup tasted like... miso soup. Blah. The only highlights of the meal were sesame tofu and miso soup, unfortunately. Next time, we'll just stick to sesame tofu and sans starch foods. Overall, if you like sesame chicken, try sesame tofu here at Veggie Lovers!

Very good and the restaurant is usually empty so it's more intimate, it's nice. And the food is very good! Thick mushroom soup was delicious among other things. Everything was very good. Although, the waitress could have been a little friendlier.

  • John G.

On 3.9.14 I ordered the "As You Wish" with hot and sour soup to go. The hot and sour soup was mediocre and tasted too much like black pepper. However, the "As You Wish" (mushroom and veggie-stuffed tofu skin) was excellent. I liked the sweet citrus and asparagus sides serve with the tofu skins. I would highly recommend this entree but would pass on the hot and sour soup.

Only ever been for lunch, and they have a great lunch special. For $5.99 you get a main course (fake chicken with broc, lo mein, etc.) + THREE sides, one of which is rice. Every time I get the hot and sour soup, egg roll and white rice. The portion sizes are great and the meals fill me up for hours. The service is very friendly, though a few times has been quite slow given we are normally the only diners there. I'm not sure I'd pay full dinner price here, but the lunch time specials are absolutely worth going for. And I love meat...so trust me when I say this place is great.

late. bland. inaccurate. never again. my pickup order which was to be ready in 15-20 minutes was ready in 45 minutes. the restaurant was only serving two tables so I couldn't understand the delay. one of the items in my order was missing the vegetables leaving me with deep-fried faux shrimp smothered in mayo. the kung pao dish was bland. (their spring rolls were good, though.) I will never ever return here.

We're regulars. ++ Tea service ++ Bubble tea available (and soymilk!) ++ GINORMOUS portions ++ Beautiful laughing Buddha on the wall I was about to do four -- but my hubs definitely would tack on the fifth star. It feels like you step into an adorable cafe - especially if you order bubble tea right off the bat, and it'll come in old tyme-y ice cream float-style glasses with those fun, neon bubble tea straws. I feel like this place embodies their Buddha print - relaxed and happy. You look at the menu. Eh, it's pretty much normal Chinese restaurant fare, although the Hubs raves about the Honey 'Chicken'. Food comes. Portions are HUGE. You realize you almost HAVE to split the entree ... or else suck it up that you're taking home two lunches worth. You think about ordering another bubble tea. But you're so full! If you want though, you can get it to go. I've done this to take it on a Chinatown bus outta town. Brilliant idea, btw. You ask for the check, because they're so nice that you probably need to get their attention to ask. They're happy to let you chill out. No pressure. The FYI is they DO take cards, BUT you need to tell them the tip BEFORE they run the card. If you think this is awkward, bring cash. The owner/manager is always running the joint, a wonderful kind woman, and you're often served by cute kids who bring you your tea and then get back to diligently doing their homework. Of veg Chinese places, this is easily always our top pick.

Tried the toon leaf pancakes. Nice change from the typical scallion pancakes. Cold sesame noodles with peanut sauce very good. Duck interesting with nice texture, taste and crispy edges. Kale and tofu nice, too. Will return.

I have to drop a star for the repeated poor service. It's still a solid lunch choice but if you are trying to get back to the office within an hour it won't always happen. The woman who is usually the only server there is easily distracted and much more interested in chatting with whomever stops in as opposed to the paying customers.

  • Jennifer G.

Claims to be vegan, but has cheese wontons, pizza rolls and bubble tea (that uses the non-dairy creamer with whey in it as a base). Totally not vegan and unacceptable. In addition, many main dishes have increased in price to $15.95! Not worth it AT ALL!

This place was so bad. I like vegetarian food and tofu, but not at this place. The imitation chicken tasted nothing like chicken or tofu. Also we were the only people in the restaurant and the service was still really slow.

En route to show rehearsal nearby, I decided to stop by Veggie Lovers to grab some take-out, since I had passed by multiple times but had never tried their food. I wished I had the time that day to eat in, but since I had somewhere I needed to be, I decided against that. Regardless, the staff was friendly, and even though the restaurant itself was fairly empty, the wait was not long at all and within 15 minutes (or less) my order was ready. The sesame tofu with brown rice really hit the spot! And since everything on their menu is vegetarian, I'm sure I'll be trying something new every time I stop in!

When I first told my parents I wanted to go vegetarian (okay, with some rare seafood exceptions), they nearly disowned me. "Chinese people and meat cannot be separated," they told me. "Like yin and yang, both are necessary to achieve a harmonious balance." And for a while, I almost believed them. I began to wither, finding sustenance in Mediterranean, Indian, and Italian cuisines, but nothing palatable from my own native culture. Even our tofu dishes contain meat, and when you remove it from the equation, it's hardly passable. I could feel myself and my body reacting. Eventually, I began buying items when they were NOT on sale, and I was only marginally taken over by Linsanity. Could my decision to stray from meat really be killing my inner Chinese?? By the grace of God, I found Veggie Lovers, a 100% vegetarian Chinese restaurant that does not sacrifice taste or authenticity. There are so many tasty options available here, including a killer sesame "chicken" dish that would probably fool even an actual chicken. The food actually tastes like Chinese food and not some bland, paltry imitation. Prices are low (but bring cash), the staff is sweet, and they offer some pretty fantastic green tea (though dishes, unfortunately, can be quite slow to come out). Thank you Veggie Lovers, for saving me, for making Chinese food a real option for me, and all of Philadelphia's vegetarians (plus those friends we drag to eat with us).

So I found this place by way of one of my vegetarian friends and OMG...have I ever been in love. I mean I have taken my fiance here three times. One of my girlfriends has been once and she is still raving about the meal she had. I am always indecisive when reviewing the menu. Depending on what my body is saying, I will go for that. Some days it's the Qian Dao "Shrimp" (OMG!) or the General Tso's Vegetable Protein (Seitan) whatever, and some days it's the Buddha's Feast. Oh and I cannot forget about the "steak" and onions. Of course everything is faux meat. Oh and the spring rolls!!! But my goodness. I have yet to have a bad dish The staff is friendly. Always smiling and attentive, which is a plus. Come to think of it, date night is Saturday. May have to hit this place up again.

This is the best Chinese vegetarian meal I've had in Philly so far. I had the sesame chicken set for lunch, which was $6 and came with brown rice, seaweed salad and miso soup (you can choose your own 3 sides). All the food was perfectly flavored - none of the over-greasy and salty stuff you often get at Chinese places. There was also a free flow of freshly brewed Chinese tea. I discovered upon asking that they make the mock chicken in-house with a mix of seitan and soy, which explains why it was so good. The serving is pretty big too. A great place for both vegetarians and meat-eating friends!

Tasty food. A group of 4 ordered the sesame chix, scallion pancakes, fried bananas and coconut curry tofu for dinner. Everyone was full and satisfied. Loved all but curry, it was good but not the best I've had. 2 of the 4 were not exclusive vegetarians and they still really enjoyed everything. Would def go back.

Wow! I used to order here at least every couple weeks. I loved the General Tsos Veg.Chicken, but $17.50?! I used to pay $10.99. The portions are not bigger and it seems to be a lot greaser. Unfortunately they have just lost a loyal customer.

So, recently I've had some health issues and have been on a restricted diet and I thought I'd go back to Veggie Lovers because there are plenty of things I can eat there. I got there and it was New Year's Day, so they had a special menu, which was disappointing at first because there were only a few things there I could eat, and not many of which were what I really wanted to eat. We'd driven all the way down there and paid more to park than usual, so I was trying to decide what to do. I guess the disappointment could be seen on my face, so the nice waitress talked to the owner who said since it was New Year's, I should be happy, so they let me order from the regular menu. Yeah! I ordered the same as last time...the house special soup, the basil eggplant, but then I also got the black bean "chicken". The first two were just as good as I had remembered. The black bean "chicken" was good, but prepared in a different style from the previous "chicken", as this one wasn't breaded. I really liked it though, as it had a nice texture and was cut thin. There was a large variety of veggies in this dish, which made me happy. The bean sauce was not too salty either, which has been a problem at some other places I've ordered it. So, even though we didn't get the special New Year's course, they still gave us two free bamboo calendars, which are actually really cool and both have different designs. One of them has goldfish, and the other has a Buddha. They also brought us oranges and gave us tea like last time. The service was very friendly and prompt. You really cannot beat this place. I am tempted to go there again this weekend, and I was just there on Sunday! I think this might become one of my go-to spots in Philly.

Finally checked this place out for a $5.95 lunch special. Spring roll was good. Seaweed salad was fettucine-like strips of kombu? tossed w/ soy sauce & sesame oil. Pretty basic but tasty. Got the gen. tso's chicken. kinda weird. Not spicy at all(had to eat the chili peppers in the dish to make it spicy) Also the breading had a weird consistency that was not agreeable.Gave me the runs.Good thing the portion was on the small side. I really was expecting much better. I'm willing to give this place another chance; maybe try something not deep-fried. There are a lot of choices on their menu that looked promising. Hope so.

I've returned for the lunch special 2 or 3 times, and it is an insanely good price. Sesame tofu + brown rice + spring rolls + wonton soup for $5.50???? YES. The sesame tofu is great, as are the spring rolls. The wonton soup is a bit strange, but there are other choices (hot & sour soup, miso soup, veggie salad, seaweed salad, steamed peanuts) that you can use to make your lunch combo (one entree + 3 side selections). The woman who runs/owns Veggie Lovers is incredibly sweet, and I will continue going back.

YO philly people, youse NEED to come to VEGGIE LOVERS! amazing food and wonderful service. enjoy the free tea, and definitely order the delicious scallion pancakes. such huge portions so be prepared to share... we also ordered the lettuce wraps -- again a huge portion, and it came with tons of vegetables. together with the scallion pancakes, we were already full by the time our entrees came out. the food comes out a little slow, but boy is is freshly made! everything is steaming hot and delicious. i ordered the eggplant heaven -- very good and beautifully presented. i would share this dish with someone, it's so huge. the fresh orange slices used to divide the green beans from the tofu from the eggplant lend a refreshing note to all the components of this dish -- what a great idea! this dish was a little heavy for me, but it was so good that i couldn't stop eating it. your meal ends with your server presenting you with a sectioned piece of orange and a fortune cookie. free, fresh, and a great way to end a fabulous meal!

A friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try and we are so glad we did! The food is delicious, our waitress delightful, and the menu options vast. The General Tso's "chicken" is a must-try - not too greasy and the sauce is quite lovely. This restaurant is perfect for veggie lovers.

Let me start off by saying their food is delicious. I've been here many times and had every intention of remaining a loyal customer. Unfortunately they just raised their prices big time. Things I used to order are now double the cost of what they used to be. I know their portions haven't gotten larger so I don't understand the bump in prices. I don't think I will be eating here very often.

this place is so serene and cute. While I saw a few ppl do takeout, this is definitely a place you can sit down and eat too. The food is delicious and as a "veggie lover", I think the name is a perfect fit... every single thing I had at this place was delish! I came for lunch, which is only like $6 a person... I had the vegetarian steak with onions and peppers, brown rice, a spring roll and hot and sour soup. I tried my friend's food too. As a vegetarian, it's such a luxury to be able to order anything on the menu without worrying if it's made with meat or meat by-products. Lunch Love, love, love this place... I will definitely be back next time I'm in Philly.

Food was ok, just a Lil on the bland side. Ordered hot n sour soup, but missing that hot spicy kick, fried dumplings good, n had ginger chicken with broccoli but really Cudnt taste the ginger n no ginger in platter. Not complaining tho. Will go back n try more dishes. Staff very pleasant, n restaurant appeared clean n bathroom likewise. Hot tea was good too. Only downfall for location is lack of nearby parking. But enjoy!

I came here on a Sunday night for dinner (total of 3 people) and it was empty. Upon our arrival we were seated by a cute kid. We were served tea but I refused mine since the cup had a lipstick stain on it. We ordered fried veg Chicken Nuggets ($4.25) total of 6 pieces as well as Fried Tofu ($3.50) served with chili pepper soy sauce. Both arrived in a somewhat timely manner. For the main entree I ordered "Hot Fried Special Veg. Fish in Kitchen Sauce" ($15.95). My fiance order General Tso's Veg.Chicken ($10.95) and our guest had the House Special Chow Fun ($6.95). Everything arrived separately that we didn't even eat at the same time. My fish was the last thing to arrive, by this time everyone was done eating. The whole experience was a absolute mess and you could definitely tell the lack in operating a business these people have. We also ordered a cheese steak but told the waitress to cancel it because it was too late. The food was mediocre, fish was not worth $15.95, the waitress was so clueless, dirty cups, no water served unless asked for...keeps going. Point is, I am not coming back.

Excellent vegetarian meal close to the convention center. A nice, quiet breather from the crowds. The clouds tea was wonderful, as were the lettuce wraps & miso soup.

The lunch specials are great - $5.99 for an entree, and 3 sides! So for lunch, for $6, it's great. They deliver to my office, it's wonderfully cheap, and it fills me up. The tofu is prepared well, lightly fried, soaking up all of the sauce flavors, not falling apart like other tofu. So 4 stars for the tofu. Sides are where they fall short - the hot & sour soup is lacking in flavor, and the veggie salad is literally 3 pieces of iceberg lettuce with a tomato slice. Brown rice was fine. Sadly, Philly doesn't seem to do Chinese takeout well. Veggie Lovers rises to the top of my takeout experience, but by no means is it excellent cuisine.

Visiting the city, and so I grabbed some take out. I was told to come in 20-25 minutes, which I did, but still waited an additional 25 minutes for my food. Still, the 3 out of 5 stars is for the food. I am usually a fan of eggplant, but I was not really a fan of eggplant heaven. Its was a little too bland for me. Eggplant, and green beans, separated by tofu. As for the scallion pancakes, they were pretty standard.

wandered here after realizing kingdom of vegetarians was closed.. ( at like 3 on a monday ? ) anyway got a few appetizers to go , tofu, edamame, and spring rolls. they were all DELICIOUS.. flavored wonderfully , the service was attentive, and the place is so cute and homey looking. The hostess even offered hot tea to me while I waited for my take-out order. They also sell some small flowers, and some origami that they make right there.. take special notice..the sign that says veg something in the window.. is hand made with origami stars.. how neat is that.. anyway I'm glad I stumbled in here .. I've seen this place tons of times riding by and I'll definitely be back!

Have a vegetarian/vegan that needs to be fed? Don't know where to go? Now you do. Too many veg places are just faux "meat" deep-fried in various incarnations. I was hoping to avoid that because as tasty as "chicken" "drummettes" are (here's looking at you, Singapore Chinese Vegetarian around the corner), they still sit like an unhealthy lead weight in your stomach. Yelp reviews saved me from a repeat assault on my internal organs with this hidden gem. No, really. It's hidden. It's right next to Vietnam Restaurant (avoid--and see my review of both it and its superior neighbor) and there's even a big tree in the way. You wouldn't likely chance upon it, which is a shame. This place used to be a teahouse (and probably many other things before that) and has been converted into a lovely, bright space. I'm not big on atmosphere influencing my reviews: if a place is a dump but has amazing food, awesome. But this place has both. It's charming, bright, clean, and new. It looks well-maintained and feels cozy without being at all claustrophobic. Our waiter and the owner (?) were both amazingly friendly and attentive without hovering. And the food. OH, the food! After much deliberation, we got steamed dumplings (appetizer) and two mains: Eggplant Heaven with string beans and tofu as well as Sweet and Sour Golden Feather Knishes (how could we resist with a ridiculous name like that?). The dumplings were ok--they tasted home-made but somewhat bland, though the dough was nice and pliant. Nothing to write home about. We sipped our bubble tea (DELISH). And then the goodies arrived. Eggplant Heaven was broken up into three sections on the plate: deliciously simmered Chinese eggplant in a sweet brown sauce, seared green beans, and crisp-fried tofu. So damn good. You know how lots of places butcher eggplant, either rendering it mushy or leaving it half-raw and bitter? Not this place. I would want this eggplant to have my children. It's AMAZING. Seriously. Everything else was also good, but the eggplant was a guaranteed come-back-for. Golden Feather Knishes (cannot get over this name) were actually... hard to describe. Basically, you can consider them fried dough puffs, but not too airy, with a filling of pureed taro root and taro root slices, in a sweet and sour sauce. They sound ridiculous; they are delicious, though perhaps should be an appetizer because that's a BIG plate of delicious-yet-cloying deep-fried saucy goodness. With the sauce on the side or maybe just less of it, we could have plowed though the plate, but these are still delicious and totally different than anything either of us had had before. TWO IMPORTANT NOTES: Make your decision from their online menu. Their own physical menu is MUCH less descriptive (ie, "House Special Thick Soup" just says that on the menu, but adds "3 kinds of mushrooms, tofu, seaweed & black moss fungus" on the website--much more useful). The other note is they're cash only. No biggie. Oh, and I guess a useful aside for some: they're vegetarian, not vegan, but seem totally aware and willing to make substitutions. No soy bubble tea, though; it's dairy-based. Everything else is already vegan or can very easily be made vegan for you. We didn't have room for dessert, but this place is a gem. Seriously, go here even if you're not a veggie. I'm so coming back, and I'm an omnivore.

I fell in love with Veggie Lovers. Even though I am not a vegetarian I really love their food. Typically, when I eat at a vegan reataurant I am still craving the texture and taste of meat. Not here. For a chinatown restaurant it is very friendly and communicable staff and very clean. I would would recommend Veggie Lovers to anyone that enjoys chinese food and is trying to be a little health conscious.

Visited veggie lovers on a weekend trip to Philly this summer. Our group consisted of a meat-loving teenage boy, a vegan 20 something, an on and off middle-aged nutritarian, and an omnivorous (yet not very healthy) middle-aged woman. Everyone loved everything we ordered! We sampled some tempeh "ribs" that were delicious, ordered several bubble teas and a mango smoothie that all surpassed our expectations. Each of our dishes were generous portions and very flavorful. We enjoyed everything we ate from the sautéed spinach to the noodle dishes and tempura veggies with a sweet dipping sauce. The staff was friendly and we were one of only two tables eating (it was just before closing). I would highly recommend! It has food that suites everybody's tastes.

Ordered delivery at 1:30 called at 3 wondering where my food was. It hadn't even been started yet. No apology said it would be 20 min I figured it would be easier than getting a refund. It is now 4:30 no food called again said 10 min!!! Again no appology or offer of recompense. All my friends gave up and left. If the food ever shows up I will be stuck with lunch for four and a bill to match. I'm pretty chill when it comes to mistakes as long as there is at least an acknowledgment of it but I was shuffled off the phone and treated like I was the inconvenience. 3hr delivery is unacceptable.

Quick takeout service, we were able to pick up our food within 20 minutes of ordering. The singapore noodles were somewhat bland, along with the friend veggie dumplings. The almond/cashew faux chicken was delicious, and had just the right amount of spice. Average prices for takeout Chinese, but they do have quite the extensive menu.

I decided to stop by veggie lovers to pick up food on the way back home after walking my bf to work. The inside is very quiet and the decor is nothing special. Although the random fish tanks through out the restaurant are a little weird.. I ordered the fried cheese wontons, Mapo tofu, and a milk tea without tapioca. The guy who was taking my order said that he would still have to charge me for full price for the milk tea, which I didn't care about. Once I got home to eat, the cheese wontons were a little too salty for my taste, but I was happy there wasnt any gross crab Rangoon inside! The Mapo tofu was filling but nothing special. It could be spicier in my opinion.. Overall the server was very nice, even offering me water while I waited. The food is decent. I may or may not come back to eat in house. We'll see!

I love this place. They are dedicated to healthy cooking and yummy vegetarian food! I love the presence of family members doing homework in the back and the friendly mom serving meals. I always feel welcome and satisfied after the delicious food! I usually order the tofu and veggies, but tonight I ordered seaweed salad for an appetizer and kale with smoked tofu. The meals also come with brown rice if you wish. It was all delicious!

Veggie Lovers absolutely knocks all of the other vegetarian Chinese places out of the water. Every one of them. New Harmony, suck it. Kingdom of Vegetarians, your food is not good. The food at Veggie Lovers is fresh, all prepared to order. They emphasize in the menu preface that nothing is frozen, from a can, or pre-made, and the care they take in preparing it really shows. The food is flavorful, light, and absent of the sickeningly sweet, greasy, heavy sauces of most Chinese food. Not to fret, though - the menu includes all of the Chinese takeout favorites and then some. I've had a variety of dishes at Veggie Lovers, but favorites include hot and sour soup (could be spicier, easily fixed with the chili oil sitting at every table), sesame chicken (the broccoli is actually crispy!), kale with bean curd (order it light on the salt), Singapore-style noodles, and spring rolls. Yes, the menu is entirely vegetarian, but even for meat-eaters, the food is leagues above your typical takeout. In fact, on a recent dining experience, I learned that Veggie Lovers has been ranked in the top 100 Chinese dining establishments in the country (out of some 41,000) by the Chinese Restaurant Foundation. Food aside, the ambiance is great. The place is clean, nicely decorated, and has a very home-y feel. The owners, a husband and wife team, are incredibly nice (as are their two kids), and the service is quick. My girlfriend and I have been coming here for about a year, and we cannot fathom eating at any other Chinese restaurant ever again.

Besides tasting their "chicken" nuggets at the Chinatown night market, this was my first time eating a substantial meal here. I ordered the sesame chicken, eggplant and tofu in hotpot and had originally ordered a stir fry potato dish, but got garlic tofu instead. I guess there was some sort of mix up, but all was good. I love take out Chinese food and when it's a vegetarian-Chinese take out, it's all the variety of flavors, textures and cheap prices without the meat! The best thing was the eggplant and tofu hot pot. The eggplant, although not very pretty looking was so tasty, along with the shiitake mushrooms and tofu, and delicious sauce it was stewed in. The sesame chicken was good, but had a thicker coating than I'm used to. The garlic tofu was simple, but good as well. Next time I'd like to order more veggie dishes instead of a tofu overload, but I will def. be back to try their takes on classic American Chinese take out, vegetarian style.

Oh my god I love this nice little place!!!! My friend and I are visiting Philly and decided to have a nice veggie meal. So I yelped (like I always do :)) and found Veggie Lovers. It is the first time I ever stepped into a REAL veggie restaurant and I after the meal I even decided to be a vegetarian myself!! We had their signature soup -- which was made of mushroom, enoki and some seaweed like kinda stuff -- and we absolutely loved it! We also had Beijing Duck which tasted like real duck but was actually made of tofu. Also I have to mention the interior decoration goes along with their food perfectly well. The teapots and small cups were sooooo cute that I was even thinking about taking one home. However, like mentioned in other comments they serve slow. I guess it was just because they had prepared our foods carefully and with love! Anyway one should definitely try it and you will fall in love!

The walk from my office to Veggie Lovers is a bit of a schlep (as the Chinese say), but it's well worth it. Just about everything is vegan, the prices are great (especially for the lunch specials), and the the food is delightfully tasty and non-greasy. The decor is not unpleasant, but it's certainly on the eclectic side-- in addition to what appear to be traditional Chinese paintings, there's also a large black-and-white poster of the U.S.presidents, and a large poster with that bizarre pro-vegetarian tract that cites "an ad on the subway trains" as its source for information about the health benefits of the diet. I've seen this peculiar manifesto in other restaurants-- Su Xing House and Loving Hut, for example-- and it always baffles me. Anyway, it's not the worst place to sit and eat-- it's certainly clean and bright-- but I prefer getting takeout. Be sure to phone in your order at least a good 25 minutes in advance of when you need it, because they tend to be a little slow even when they're not busy. As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing-- I want my food to be prepared carefully and attentively. If you do arrive before the food is ready to pick up, they'll give you a cup of tea while you wait.

We spent the day in Philly and were very happy to find this place. The waitress was fantastic. She was exceptionally friendly and easily answered all of our questions. The menu was full of great options. It was almost too hard to decide what to get. You could tell the other diners there were loving their food and everything looked delicious. We loved the zucchini dish and lettuce wraps that we got. We'll definitely stop there again to try out more of the menu when we're in Philly. Super awesome!

Ive been eating at Veg Lovers since they opened last year and it has become an addiction. The prices are incredibly low, the vegetables are always fresh, the service is always awesome, i have never had a bad experience in the 50 or so times i have eaten here. The owner is the sweetest lady who hand makes all the decorations and takes your order with a smile. Shes super friendly and whether you are just there for appetizers or a full course, she is always attentive. They keep the tea flowing here, you cant even drink a whole cup without the waiters giving you a refill. Take out is awesome as well, i live on girard and the delivery boy rides a bike up here with the food piping hot. Favorite place to eat in the city, seriously, go here. Get the fried cheese wontons or scallion pancakes and you wont be disappointed. For the full course, go with the crispy honey chicken or the pepper steak. Pro tip - if youre on a budget you can more than enough food by sticking with the appetizer menu. You can get cheese wontons, scallion pancakes, cold noodles, wonton soup and white rice for under 15$. DO IT

I live pretty close and I love this place! Fanny (the owner I presume) is a sweetheart and the food is fresh and cooked to order! Often I find it empty when I go for take-out of a casual dinner with my boyfriend. Hopefully business picks up because this place is awesome! Lunch special is particularly good. I usually get veggie chicken and broccoli with steamed peanuts, hot and sour soup, and brown rice. For 5.95! Yum! Yum!

I recently visited Veggie Lovers for lunchtime, and truly felt like this was the kind of place I want to tell others to go check out ASAP. The lunch started out with a nice pot of hot tea for myself and my lunchmate. After we checked out the menu, I decided to try the General Tso's Veggie Chicken as I've had this at a few other restaurants and hadn't come across one yet that didn't make me feel like I was sacrificing for eating the veg version. THIS one, however, was crisp on the outside, chewy inside and didn't make me feel like I was missing out at all. The sauce was thick and spicy, too. The lunch combos also come with a choice of soup and salad. I tried the miso soup to see how it compared with the ones I had in Japan (lived there for a couple years and rarely find soups as good as the ones I remember there). This miso soup was great, and didn't deprive on the konbu and tofu. I also tried the side seaweed salad, which was decent, though I prefer when they use a different variety of seaweed than the one I got because it was pretty chewy and pasta-like. The one disappointment was the Taro Shake which I was hoping would have some fresh taro, but mainly just seemed like it was taro milk with blended ice. My lunchmate had the spicy Eggplant and Tofu, with the wonton soup, which was also excellent. This is a vegetarian restaurant not only worth a visit for vegetarians but food lovers in general. Go there now!

Note: Cash Only ( but you won't need much cash) So good job to Ida G! Went on the one Yelp recommendation posted so far and almost didn't find the place. It's so little and in the shadow of Vietnam (the restaurant, not the nation). I am a vegetarian (strict) but went with an omnivore. Correction, an omnivore who has a weird dietary restriction around sugars and fruits in his foods. This restriction was totally and sweetly complied with by all of the staff. We had the steamed veggie dumplings. Wrappers and filling were house made. Wrappers were delicate and folded so prettily that we didn't want to eat them. We were glad we did, however, as they were very tasty, stuffed with veggies but not chunky and not only cabbage. Then we had the Chow Fun (based on the previous reviewer). Even better than hoped for. The noodles were wide, flat, egg noodles and they were in a dry saute. A little bit of a grilled flavor. Yum! We asked for it to be spicy and it was. Not as much green veg as my friend would have liked. Oh, also little slices of fake meat. I normally hate fake meat but these were very thinly sliced and delicious. The mushrooms were fresh and not canned. We also had the ma po tofu. Also spicy. This is one of my favorite dishes but in traditional restaurants it usually contains pork so I can't always have it. Very good silky sauce, not too sticky or runny. The tofu was really firm but tender. Lovely. The menu said with broccoli but there wasn't any on our plate. I liked it anyway. We had brown rice with our meal. Dinner came with delicious black tea, not watered down, and afterwards we were served sliced oranges (which my darling-weirdo friend wouldn't eat) with a fortune cookie. We both took home left overs, enough for a nice lunch each and we likes to EAT so that should tell you about the portion size. Total bill? ---$20 before tip! Not greasy, very fresh, very nice clean place, lovely bathroom, lovely staff, very quiet (I hope that changes), will go back as often as I can, they have a HUGE menu and I'm looking forward to trying more. Only down side, would have liked more veggies in each dish. I'm sure that only requires asking.

satisfying on so many levels. will try to keep this concise: 1. incredible service. the owner is super friendly and answered all the questions we had about specific menu items. 2. HUGE MENU! I'm a picky eater, but confident I would enjoy anything I ordered here. 3. House Special Veggie Lettuce Wraps-"it comes with lettuce and you wrap them yourselves, okay?" A-Okay by me; they were DELICIOUS. bean sprouts, thin strips of tofu, ginger, etc. wrapped in lettuce; perfect appetizer in my book. 4. no MSG. the owners only offer healthy dishes that are flavorful and filling. you will leave feeling full, but not fat. 5. oh it's really cheap, too + they take visa/mastercard/discover. 6. super peaceful setting. this place is a winner, I hope it's here forever!

The food here is excellent, much better than other Chinatown vegetarian restaurants, which seem to depend heavily on fake meat made of textured soy protein. Veggie Lovers serves a variety of dishes, including many that include recognizable vegetables. I have visited four times so far. Twice I've had eggplant with tofu in garlic sauce, which was superb. The tofu was slightly crisp both times. The broth in the wonton soup tastes strongly of mushrooms, and the wontons are full of something delicious--I think it might be finely diced mushrooms. My vegetarian day used to be something of a chore, but now I look forward to it. I have decided to eat my way through the entire lunch special menu from top to bottom. Lunch specials cost around $6 and include a main dish and three side dishes, which can be rice, egg roll, salad, or one of three soups. The interior is attractive and spotlessly clean.

Decided to check out this place which opened recently, and so glad we did! Finally, a C-Town restaurant that boasts healthy vegetarian food, and lives up to expectations. I had been wanting to go here since they opened up a few weeks ago, but my boyfriend has been resisting vegetarian food since our lousy experience at Charles Plaza around the corner. Veggie Lovers turned him right around. We started with the scallion pancakes, which were nice and crunchy but not greasy at all (how?!). I had the egg drop soup, and the boyfriend had hot and sour. Mine was perfect; his was a little glutenous but still delicious. We were bursting at the seams by the time the house special chow fun arrived, but what I tried of it was so good! Noodles were perfectly chewy, colorful fresh carrots and snow peas, tofu flavorful and just the right texture. This was my first time having vegetarian moo shu. It was a little lacking in flavor (boyfriend asked for plum sauce, but they didn't have any), but still pretty good. The complimentary tea was incredible, and made me want to try their their tea service next time. This restaurant is brand new, very tastefully decorated, if not a little quiet (no music). The servers are attentive, friendly, and the owner's English is great. Prices are totally reasonable, at under $15pp with tip, assuming a family style meal. All their entrees are $9-$14. Sadly, apart from a couple of small take-out orders, we were the only customers at around 4pm on a Sunday. I really hope business picks up for these guys because they're a real gem. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because they don't take credit cards yet, and I haven't tried enough different dishes to judge. I'm fairly confident they can work their way up to a five star rating. I am a little confused about their name. Their menu says "Veggie Lovers" but the sign outside says "Veg Lovers." Rest assured they are one and the same.

Wife and I ordered very different dishes and both were as bland as could be. Even the hot pepper sauce on the table had no flavor. The soy sauce was the only thing with flavor and it was simply too salty.

I found this place on the 1st day it opened - Fri (10/8). The zen was right w/ this place. I've been to the block-away Kingdom of Vegetarians Veg Chinese many times (~50x) when I lived in the city. The Veggie Lovers owner was correct in that the food quality changed than what was authentic. My staple Singapore noodle was what I remember from an ages-ago (excellent, cheaper) KoV. I'm a voracious vegetarian & after I talked to the owner, I just knew my Veg Chinese destination next time I was in the city. I suggest that you try out different Veg restaurants to know a good place like this when you experience it -- & wish that places stay this way (or just get better) as they mature.

I have tried the food here twice and both times were great. I find the service to be really sweet actually. They seem eager to please. There are some amusing aspects of the decor and the tea menu (as in tea for skin whitening), but I think all of this adds to the experience. Yesterday I took a risk and tried the spiral seaweed with tofu and thought the flavor was great and felt so healthy aftewards.

Delicious! Ordered delivery to our hotel. The General Tsao's "chicken" was awesome, and the serving size was so plentiful that my dish lasted 3 meals :). The only downside was that there were no napkins or utensils or extras in our delivery bag. (I mean, we ordered to a hotel- obviously we needed those things haha). But the food was excellent! We WILL be eating here again - and frequently - when we move to Philly later this summer! :-D

We were craving some delicious veggie meat and boy oh boy this place had it all. The restaurant itself is quaint and decorated nicely. It was just me and my boyfriend and a few of the restaurant owners there but it wasn't awkward as some of those situations can be. The menus is very extensive! I was expecting only vegetarian general tso's but no they had veggie chicken and brocolli, veggie sweet and sour chicken, mock duck, veggie sesame chicken, veggie honey chicken. We were tempted to order three entrees! BUT the portions were huge so there was no need. They also had some neat vegetable dishes (eggplant, kale) and lots of noodle dishes. The veggie chicken and brocolli was so good! I haven't had 'chicken and brocolli' since going vegetarian and it used to be my staple. As I type this I'm staring at the fridge where my leftovers are taunting me to devour them. We got Veggie Balls and Chinese Pizza for appetizers. Again, huge portions and yummy. The veggie balls were I think fried cauliflower sprinkled with salt and pepper. Yum. So glad we stumbled upon this place. Vegetarians--go here! And then call me and invite me!

I've been passing by this place for months, but since my vegetarian brother was visiting I finally went in. I'm so glad I did! For a small, family owned restaurant, the menu is wonderfully extensive. We went two nights in a row and tried out as much as we could. Night 1: curry chicken with potato and wonton soup My brother said the curry chicken with potato was the best meal he'd had in a long time. The wonton soup was tasty, though not as delicious as some of the meat-filled wontons I've had in the past. Night 2: spring rolls, scallion pancake, corn and vegetable soup, vegetarian duck, and vegetarian chicken with broccoli and ginger. The vegetarian duck was amazing! I'd be satisfied eating it instead of real duck any time. The vegetarian chicken with broccoli and ginger was solid too. The corn and vegetable soup was moderately sized for two people, but just tasted very healthy and nice. I would have all of the food again. It comes out amazingly quickly, and the tea is great too. Both times we went, the place was empty, which was surprising. It was pretty late, but a place as good as this should be busier! The decor is beautiful and calming. The second night, it was just the wife at the register, the husband serving, and the son sitting at a table doing his homework. There's a note in the menu about how people say eating at Veggie Lover's is like eating a meal at home, and I definitely got that vibe. I will be back, even when I don't have vegetarian friends/family with me.

Food was super good. Loved it. Definitely will go back. Only problem that didn't get this restaurant five stars was the service. A little on the slow side, but hey, maybe there is sometimes in the day we can all slow down and not rush right?

I went to Veggie Lovers today for lunch after seeing a menu at my job. I was happy to see that they offer sweet and sour "chicken", something I haven't had since going vegan (now pescetarian) so I ordered the lunch special. The "chicken" itself was really rubbery so wasn't happy with that, the sauce and the breading however gave me the taste I like that S&S chicken offers so it was still somewhat satisfying. The spring roll was good, tasted just like the spring rolls offered at Suh Xing House for those familiar and the won ton soup was just ok. I think the fact that Suh Xing is my favorite and only vegetarian Chinese restaurant that I'd eaten at prior to veggie lovers, there was a bit of a comparison. However one thing I liked about Suh Xing is how much the food tasted exactly like the real thing minus the meat which of course the substitute meat brings a different flavor but Veggie Lovers didn't do well with making the flavors just as good in my opinion. I'd still go back to get the S& S Chicken if I had a craving for it but I don't see me going out of the way to get here too often.

Not a vegetarian, but decided to give it a whirl. Very happy to say the least; this place is really good. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Their noodle dishes (I forget which one I ordered off the top of my head) were delicious as well as filling. However, as good as their food is, their "bubble drinks" are even better. I ordered the honeydew one and it was amazing. I have been back 8-10 times jsut for that drink alone. If you are not a vegetarian you should still give it a shot. You will be pleasnatly surprised.

I visited this restaurant quite often while my fiancee and I were dating. We also would go there together every once in a while for lunch and dinner, as well as get take out. The food is quite good, well prepared. The staff is friendly and courteous, and the service is relatively normal paced for a restaurant. I am not a vegetarian, so I can't comment on the quality of tofu or what have you, but every once in a while if you want something different and healthy, this is the place to go.

Great place. I'm not even vegetarian and I loved it! Bottom line: good food, good service, even better price. Went here for lunch, got the lunch special ($6-7 each for an entree plus 3 sides, choose from: wonton soup, miso soup, and I think the 3rd soup was sweet and sour, white rice, brown rice, steamed peanuts, veggie salad, seaweed salad, steamed peanuts, or a springroll). The wonton soup was good. Not really a traditional wonton soup at all, but the broth was good and the wontons were quite tasty and unique! (Then again I've never been to a vegetarian Chinese place before). For entrees, I got the Sesame veggie chicken and my friend got the Peking style noodles. The veggie chicken was phenomenal. To be honest, and I don't know what this says about the other Chinese food I eat, but if I hadn't known, I wouldn't have been able to tell from the taste that it was vegetarian. Hahaha. And my friend said she liked her noodle dish. We also got an appetizer of scallion pancakes which were good. Not greasy at all. Although I could have gone for a little stronger of a scallion flavor. They were good though. Overall we were stuffed. I'm a big eater, and had leftovers to take home. Service was friendly and the food came out at a good pace. We liked the free tea too. Was tempted to try a coconut milkshake or one of their other concoctions but decided against it. Time to pay. $15 for all that food?! Yeah. We gave a nice tip because our waitress (also quite possibly the owner) was really sweet, so all in all $10 a person for a very filling and delicious and healthy lunch? I think so. I will be returning. Oh, and last note, a review below says they are cash only. They must have gotten a card machine since, because I paid with card, no problem.

I used to really like this place, but it's been off the past few times I've ordered. The food's been greasy and the delivery service has been poor. On one delivery the driver somehow got lost and arrived an hour late, and today one of the containers had come open and spilled into the bag and there were no utensils or napkins included. Hoping this is just a temporary thing.

I am in no sense of the word a vegetarian but I had a fantastic meal here and will definitely go again. This restaraunt uses a great business plan...good food, good portions, good service, and good price. You can't really go wrong with that!

I've eaten here a number of times and its been good each time. The lunch special is a AWESOME deal, around $7.99 for an entree and 3 sides! I've tried the garlic broccoli and the vegetarian general tso's "chicken" both were delicious. A must try if you are in the area. The staff is also SUPER nice.

You will not be disappointed if you eat here! We ordered the "Slim" tea (verbana and lemon grass) - it tasted smooth and sweet. The service was excellent - our waitress kept filling up our teapot with this nectar of the gods. The restaurant was clean. There were not too many people there for a Friday night, which made it all the better for us! We also ordered the Lettuce Wrap for an appetizer... fresh, julienne vegetables with a delicious sauce. Our entrees were the bean curd and mixed vegetables and the Sesame Tofu...both were full of veggies and were too much for us to finish at the restaurant.

pretty good place if you're looking for run of the mill "fake meat" type fair. i'd like to see them expand their menu a little. not everything vegan and vegetarian needs to be tofu or fake chicken. but the service is good and the price is reasonable.

This place is a real find for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The menu is quite extensive, the service is so friendly and the flavors and ingredients are wonderful. I have found my new "go to" restaurant! You must give it a try - you won't be sorry!

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME, period. We have eaten there twice and ordered take-out once. The portions are humongous (enough for a meal, then enough for leftovers to take to work for 1-2 days so you don't have to worry about lunch), contrary to the tiny bill you'll get at the end. We have not yet tried a dish that we didn't like, and we have been very pleased with the attentive service when dining in. They have many wonderful dishes that utilize fresh vegetables, but if mock meat is your thing, they have plenty of choices there too. Give this place a shot - you won't be disappointed.

Seriously a vegetarian/vegan's godsend. This is my first thought when I'm in center city and looking for the satisfaction of a large hot meal. I try to come during lunch hours for the cheaper menu, but it's still worth trying the cheese wontons and awesome tea selection!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
