Trio is a great restaurant. The portions are huge, prices right, and service is excellent! Did I mention it's a byo? Excellent!

I had the drunken noodles via take out twice. Really fast service. Woman who works the counter is very courteous and cute. Prices may be kind of high though. Other than that, good place. I will go again.

I love Trio. Me and my wife have been going here for almost 3 years. The atmosphere and service is wonderful. We've been there alone or with small to large groups. We like sitting out on there deck when the weather permits. My recommendations include the Thai Style Samosas, Drunken Noodles, and Crispy Tofu with Ginger. Also, My wife had a surprise birthday diner there for me this year. She reserved the third floor and had 30 family members and friends there. They were given three options for apps, entrees, and dessert on a limited menu. The food was fantastic and the service was great (even though they had to deal with a loud and obnoxious group). We have also had there take out a few times, which I think is great in terms of take out standards.

This restaurant is right around the corner so anytime we are feeling lazy and in the mood for Thai, this is our go to spot. I love their pad thai and I love their peanut sauce even more. Everything is fresh and it being super close doesnt hurt. My only reservation is that they have a very limited menu. I hope they add more options soon!

Thai food is difficult in the city, you end up getting a lot of Chinese-Malaysian fusion places. Unfortunately Trio is about the same so don't come here expecting the most authentic Thai. It's tucked away on 26th and Brown - it took about 30 minutes to find parking at 8PM on a Wednesday so consider cabbing or walking. They sat us on the rooftop deck which was great for a cool summer evening. We originally had 6 in our party but one cancelled - because of that we weren't able to do the fixed menu (really? 5 instead of 6? that's lame Trio and you lose 1/2 a star) The food was good though. Appetizers were: Vegetable samosas (excellent would definitely recommend), seafood dumplings (eh, stick to chinatown for dumplings), Tom Yum soup (good). Entrees were vegetarian pad thai (good but had a little too much fish sauce flavoring in it), chicken drunken noodles (not spicy enough @ 3/5) , crispy tofu with ginger (good), Thai Basil chicken (good but nothing to write home about), and a special seafood medley. The medley entailed a lobster tail, scallops, calamari, on egg noodles with a seafood broth on top. Overall disappointing and lacking in flavor. I think I enjoyed the restaurant more so because of the company I had and the rooftop ambience. The food was good but nothing I would necessarily rave about. Trio is BYO, but unlike others takes credit card (except Discover). Also, FYI there's a bar almost catty corner to Trio that sells beer by the 6 pack for pretty cheap.

BEST Thai food in the city! And right in my 'hood! :) Awesome place to go with the girls and some bottles of vino. The spicy Drunken noodles is my all-time favorite!! Also great for takeout and can serve as dinner and leftovers for lunch

I had an absolutely horrible meal here. I might venture to say that it was the worst meal I have had in Philly. This place isnt really Thai, but it does have a lot of Thai food. The appetizers were all awful in my opinion. The chicken satay was ok, but who can screw that up? The calamari was disgusting and for being a "salted calamari" it needed a lot of salt! I ordered one of many "specials." They offered about 7 or 8, which in my opinion is no longer special and means the chef needs some focus. I then decided on a second special which was recommended to me by the server after he tried to push the filet special on multiple people in our party. It was supposed to be half a duck with crispy skin. It turned out to be the driest piece of deep fried meat I have ever had. Something tells me the server had never even tasted this dish. The prices here reflect those of quality restaurants but the reality is this place was less satisfying than McDonald's (seriously). I left ravenously hungry and pissed that I dropped $40 on horrible food.

I'm a huge fan of Trio since they first opened in Feb 2006. Food is excellent, prices are reasonable, service is consistent and the owners are really friendly! The drunken noodles are THE BEST! I'm actually going there on Thursday for Dining Out for Life...they are donating 33% to fighting HIV/AIDS.

Contrary to the previous review, I've never had a bad meal here. Sure, it's a bit pricey for Thai food, but certainly not compared to other restaurants in the Fairmount area. Moreover, this place is hands down my favorite eating spot in the 'hood. Unlike 99% of the other places in Fairmount, which seem to always have a surfeit of drunk, frat-ish people, Trio allows me to have a quiet, classy, BYO dining experience not too far from home. I appreciate the many "specials" they offer every night - that tells me that the chef is creating new dishes based on what is fresh and in season. Service: the waitstaff here has always been extremely friendly and informative. When I finished grad school last year, I had my graduation party here, and the waitress went out of her way to make sure everyone's needs were met, even though we were a rather racous bunch that was only amplified as we drank more wine. I get take-out from here quite frequently. The tofu pad thai is my go-to dish, and it is always consistently superb, and generously portioned. In summary, I heart you, Trio. I don't care what other people think.

Hours say they are open until 10 during the week. They refused to take my carry out order at 9:28. Atrocious customer service and 100% unacceptable in my book. It may be slow, but that doesn't mean you should refuse my business when you are clearly still open. They just ensured that I will never eat there and that I will tell every single person that mentions Thai cuisine in Philly to avoid it at all costs.

Great Thai basil chicken, drunken noodles, crab cakes, ginger and tofu--I am in the process of eating my way through the menu, and I can't wait until I have completed my mission. The corn fritter is not to be missed. This is a great neighborhood BYO, and I have been coming here pretty steadily for the past 8 months or so. Trio is a very pretty place with good service and fair prices. I really like everything about it, and I love that it is right here in beautiful Fairmount!

Every year a large group of our friends (16) get together at the holidays for dinner. Every year someone always complains UNTIL this year. Since there were so many we had the the 3rd floor all to ourselves. It was delightful. The room is charming and they were able to control the temperature to our liking. Our waiter was wonderful, sadly I do not remember this name, sorry about that. He was there when we needed him but never made us feel rushed. Now to the food. YUMMY. We had people with all different tastes and they were able to accommodate. The Tom Yum soup was spot on and the drunken noodles were fabulous. Not a noodle left on the plate. The portions were a good size the price was great! The fact that it is a BYOB just adds to the value.

A great BYO option in Fairmount. I particularly like the deck on the top floor for outdoor dining. The food is consistently well prepared and a rotating list of specials add variety to the mix. They also have take-out service, which I've taken advantage of more times than I want to admit.

I've been here a few times now. The food is delicious but what gets me back is the atmosphere and the staff. Call me old for my age, but I hate having to talk over loud music or crowds at dinner. I would much prefer a quiet space. Trio is great for that and very relaxing in general. It is really spacious and I'm not sure how they stay in business since I've never seen it close to full. The staff are awesome and very accommodating. We have had different waiters/waitresses but they were all very sharp and sincere. I have been a little disappointed with the take-out (hence the four stars), but whatever - it's takeout. I've never been impressed with anyone's takeout. It's very nice having Trio two blocks from the apartment!

i did a whole report on this place. I just love it. the food is artistically delicious. it's a great hidden treasure. the only complaint is that finding street parking is horrendous; other then that, i'll definitely be back.

In total I have eaten here 2-3 times and the food honestly is worth it. However, the 2nd time I tried eating here they said they didn't take card over the phone. (I paid by card before). I would recommend this place in a heart beat.

Super yum! Very reasonable prices for amazing food and service. While many of their items are not veg or vegan friendly, they will accommodate for such diets. I recommend the portobello soup...very tasty!

The drunken noodles and pad thai are awesome! We used to go there weekly when we lived on the block, and now we are sure to go for a special treat when we are in the area. The waitstaff is great as well.

Good (not great) food, BYO, cozy outdoor dining area, great place to take a first date. Trio is not by any means the best Thai restaurant in Philly... or the best Thai food I have ever had. However, it's not as bad as some of the reviewers before me have said. I've been here a handful of times, and it's been an overall nice experience. Most recently, I brought my date there on a friday night. It wasn't busy yet, so our service was near perfect. The waitress was knowledgable and very friendly. We split the house salad, a spring mix with asian pears and candied walnuts - nothing to get excited about. Then we split the sweet corn fritters, which were pretty tasty. I had the crab cakes and my date had the drunken noodles - both good size portions, and damn good too. Overall we had a positive experience and left satisfied.

I've been to Trio on a few occasions and I have enjoyed it every time. It's a phenomenal Thai BYOB with delicious specials and a very reasonable bill at the end of the night. If you do go, try a special as a main course or an appetizer, you won't be disappointed. It also has lovely second floor outdoor seating in the summer. peace out.

I've lived across the street from Trio for almost a year now, but I never went until just last night when I needed a close-by restaurant to take my visiting grandparents to. I chose Trio over someplace like Rembrandt's or London, just a few more blocks away, because it seemed quieter and a little more high-end. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Inconspicuously tucked away on the corner of Brown and Taney St's, I think its location is a main reason this place is usually pretty empty, which is kind of a shame, something my grandfather commented on-- for a place so conveniently close by in the neighborhood, why aren't there more people going there? My guess is that it's not quite that crowd living around the restaurant-- you've got mostly late 20 y/o and then old Greek and Italian families that have been there for ages, not quite the Asian fusion crowd you might expect to find a bit deeper in the city. Either way, Trio probably doesn't have an easy time with that. Upon walking in the door, I was displeased with the smell of the place, it smelled like a sponge after washing a sinkload of dishes....luckily my nose was quick to habituate. THE FOOD/DRINKS: It's a BYOB, and I was fortunate enough that my Grandparents (likely on the suggestion of my Grandfather, who enjoys drinking it up with his younger kin) brought a nice bottle of red along, not even expecting that we would uncork it that night for dinner. I think Trio could really benefit and expand their business by acquiring a liquor license and installing a bar, I know I would be there a LOT for cocktails before going out, as the only other bar on the street is a dive bar called Krupa's, which isn't really my scene...however, Trio would be right up my alley if they served. The menu featured an enticing selection of Vietnamese and Thai-influenced dishes, I went with the Beggar's Pouches for my appetizer and the Seafood Hot Pot for my entree, while my Grandmother went with two appetizers-- the Chicken Satay and Corn Fritters, and my Grandfather had the Chicken Curry. The Beggar's Pouches are one of the most popular offerings at Trio, and they had a delightfully crunchy texture...although I think it was a little too sweet from the sauce, it was very tasty. By the time my entree came out I was already kind of full, but I did my best-- it was very good. I originally ordered it after thinking of Mongolian Hot Pot, one of my absolute favorite things from my trip to China in '06. While Trio's Hot Pot is nothing like Mongolian Hot Pot, it was still a lot of fun-- scallops, calamari and shrimp with glass noodles and various greens. The Chicken Curry was VERY spicy on the curry, but apparently you can ask them to go easy if that's not your bag. THE SERVICE: I thought our waittress was as attentive as she was friendly, and I think that even if the restaurant had been a little more full than on our Tuesday night visit, she still would have handled my Grandparents and I just as adeptly. Although she sort of stumbled through the specials, and I didn't really retain what they were when she got through them all, and she spilled our wine as she poured it, you could tell she wasn't doing it out of neglect for our comfort and she still did a great job of taking care of us. THE BOTTOM LINE: I think I need to come back here with a date or something, I'd like to see the main dining area upstairs. For me, it's conveniently located, for others, finding it, and then finding parking on top of that might be a hassle. Even still, Trio has some great food, and it totally worth checking out. I know that in this review I did a fair bit of complaining, but trust me, the overall experience was a very good one.

My boyfriend and I went here on a whim on Sunday night. We live in the area, and thought we would give it a whirl! Boy were we glad we went! First of all, they have a lovely deck that sits along an ivy-covered brick wall. It's so pretty out there! Second, our server was just wonderful. So helpful with the menu, very honest. He really took care of us. Lastly, the food was impeccable. My boyfriend spent 3 months living in Thailand, and said this was the most authentic this food he had since his trip. It was that good! It's Byob, which rocks. They will mix you up a pitcher of sangria if you bring the wine. What more do you need? Needless to say, we will definitely be going back. Just lovely!

We ordered three Drunken Noodles and a soup. The food was was mediocre, lets proceed and focus on everything else for now, okay?! Our waiter, who I'm reluctance to give out his name, did not comprehend that one of us wanted a soup, and thats all what she wanted for dinner. He kept asking " And for you, just the soup?" like FOUR times. I'm not even kidding you! "Only the soup", "just the soup"," just to make sure, you only ordered soup." It didn't take long time for us to got our Three Drunken Noodles ( With chicken, duck and jumbo shrimps.) She didn't get her soup yet. At that point I wasn't sure if he did it in purpose to be funny, or he really forgot. One of the people in my group has a really low tolerance for spicy foods. He asked the waiter about the heat level in his dish to make sure it was the right for him or to even lower it for him. His Duck Drunken Noodles was so spicy he couldn't eat it. Our water glasses were not filled unless we asked for refill, which took forever. We even asked for a water carafe to make our life easier. The waiter didn't know what a "carafe " was. So we asked for a "pitcher" which came after we asked him for the second time. Prior to ordering, we asked the waiter if we can get separate check, since we were carrying only cards. The waiter said of course, it won't be a problem. Well, it was. The waiter, brought us the bill before even asking if we need anything else, some dessert for example. Anyway the bill was NOT separated!!! He said he will figure it out. 10 minutes later, he came to pickup our payment. Another 10 minutes before he came again, and asked us to go to the cashier and tell him what we got and pay it over there. Convenient?!! I'm giving Trio two stars because my shrimps drunken noodles dish was okauish. Not delicious, nor horrible, just good. And I LOVE Thai food. Once overheard" most supermodels are ...." I prefer to use not very smart. Two Yelps.

This is based on a my first and only delivery service from here. First off the delivery took 30 minutes more than the anticipated estimate. Placed order at 5:15pm, confirmation stated around 6:15pm, it was delivered at 6:30pm without a call to notify us. Second off, the noodles are just OK -- and priced at $13 ( with delivery comes to $17) it's not something I'd get again. It's not terribly authentic -- they use American broccoli and eggplant in the dish.. and as some of you may know it's traditionally made with Chinese broccoli but of course, never with eggplant that is kind of an odd addition. It's also listed as " crispy tofu" and let me tell you that was not crispy tofu.. it was soggy.. The food was pretty okay, but nothing that blew my socks off to make the money worth it. I hate to say it, but it tastes like your average corner store $5-6 Americanized stir fry which I'm not a fan of. Was looking forward to this place, but unfortunately will not be a repeat customer.

It's probably been years since our last visit to Trio. After a long bike ride and storms in the future, delivery only made sense for last Saturday night. We ordered the Drunken Noodles with beef, fresh pineapple fried rice with duck and the vegetable samosas to start. Their website prompts you to order through Grubhub so the ordering process was easy and pretty prompt. Everything came to us warm and neat. The vegetable samosas were probably our favorite part of the meal. They consisted of potato, edamame, veggies, spices and came with a Thai peanut sauce. There were two large samosas which were really easy to split between two people. I wasn't overly impressed with the rest of the meal. I thought the portions of the fried rice and Drunken Noodle to be fairly small. The rice was a little dry and we had to add our own hot sauce to help the consistency. The duck was sparse and a little fatty. The Drunken noodle was standard but nothing special. We've always been happy with our in-restaurant dining experiences, so I'd certainly be willing to give that another try, however we probably won't be ordering takeout from Trio again.

In the mood for Thai takeout, the GF and I decided to check out Trio. Located in the Fairmount area, the praise-worthy reviews appear to be on point. Beggar's Pouches [$9] Crisp dumplings filled with minced crab, shrimp, sweet chili sauce We decided to try the beggar's pouches, which were beautifully hand-wrapped. Despite this being takeout, the pouches retained their texture. Crunchy on the outside and filled with well-seasoned minced crab and shrimp, these were a great starter. Take it all in one bite though or you might have pieces all of your plate - or your shirt. Drunken Noodles [$13] Crispy tofu, vegetables, wok-seared wide-cut rice noodles, broccoli, egg, onions, bell peppers, Thai basil The drunken noodles had good chew and the bits of tofu, broccoli, carrots, peapods, peppers, onions, and egg helped to create a nice bite that wasn't too spicy. Salty, sweet, savory, and slightly sour - the Thai flavors were all there. Pineapple Fried Rice [$12] with Chicken [+ $1] Jasmine rice, cashews, pineapple chunks, Madras curry powder The GF was itching to try the pineapple fried rice, which had a nice creamy, gluttonous texture to each bite, which was studded with bits of fresh veggies, cashes, and tomatoes. Despite the creamy texture of each bite, you could still make out the bite of each grain and the bits of chicken were plentiful and juicy. Trio may be our new go-to Thai place and I'm looking forward to trying some of their more authentic dishes - as well as some pad thai, natch. Trio is also BYO - so head on over with a bottle of vino and you won't be disappointed!

Love loved this place. very cute, clean BYO with some of the best thai I've had in Philly. Their green curry and lemongrass meatballs were absurdly good. Never thought I'd have meatballs at a thai place but put lemongrass in some meaty balls and you got yourself a good evening ;-) The drunken noodles were prettier than most thai dishes with massive noodles on them and had such great flavor. We also tried the beggars pouches and the seafood hot pot with glass noodles which were both good too. Our server was nice and didn't judge us 3 small ladies throwing down every kind of bottle alcohol comes in, so that was cool. Prices are fair for the quality of the food and being in a cute transformed rowhome that was well decorated felt right for a fairmount byo. Will be back time and time again! Esepcially in the summer since it looks like they had a patio you can eat out on too!

Great restaurant just 2 blocks away from my apartment. Ordered vegetable spring rolls, drunken noodles, vegetable fried rice, and red curry chicken. Everything was spicy and had so much flavor...we loved it! The only negative things I have to say about Trio would be that our server was a little too slow and the food took longer than expected to come out. Besides that, my family really enjoyed everything.

Cannot wait to live closer to this place! A couple of friends and I went for a lady date and were ready to eat a tonnnn of Thai food. There was an adorable outside patio that I'm really looking forward to sitting at during the summer too! We started off with the Beggar's pouches, which were kind of like crab rangoons, but no cream cheese filling. The sweet chili dipping sauce was absolutely amazing, and the pouches served perfectly to get us hungry for our meals. We all split the Green Curry, Seafood Hot Pot, and the Drunken Noodles. The green curry was absolutely my favorite. Perfectly spicy and came ladden with veggies, chicken and rice. So refreshing and such a delicious sauce. I ended up putting the sauce on every dish cause it was so perfectly coconuty and spicy. The seafood hot pot was really great! Tons of shrimp, scallops, and calamari. Veggies on the side with rice were carrots, zucchini and squash. I wish there was a sauce involved but the lightness of the noodles with the seafood was really delicious, plus, the green curry was seeping into everything :) The drunken noodles were also delicious! Very gingery and lemon-grassy. Perfect compliment to our carbo loaded meal. Definitely coming here again as it was moderately priced and a BYOB!! One and only one downside: no chopsticks :(

A nice, neighborhood place. The food was pretty good but the service was incredibly slow. To be fair, we had a party of 8. But, to be whiny, it took over 2 hrs for us to get out of there (ordering and eating at a normal pace).

I would have given 5 stars if only the service was good. I visited with my family on Friday, August 14 and while it was not so crowded the service wasn't great at all. We kept waiting for the server and finally lost the patience and had to go walk towards server and ask him to take our order. Even after taking the order, it took forever for him to just come and say that they were out of ice tea. Food again took forever to come. Food came then plates dint, plates came then fork dint. So ya was very disappointed with service. However Thai veg basil fried rice and drunken noodles were very delicious. Food was awesome no doubt but again Thai tea was awful. And the server also told not sure why the chef made it the way it was. I would debate if I should go or not again.

3 stars for BYO, decent vibe, solid thai staples. Lack of more stars for the specials menu writing checks the kitchen can't cash. The seafood medley thing we had was fairly awful. The lobster was truly inedible, the shrimp and scallops were overcooked, and the brown sauce was $5.00 take out brown sauce. The Drunken noodles, however, were quite tasty, as were the myriad of apps we had. The shrimp dumpling soup was nice as well, simple, hot, and tasted relatively fresh. Maybe I just had a bad batch, who knows. I'll definitely order from and come here again, but mainly when I gotsta have some Drunken noodles and Chicken satay.

I've gotten take-out/delivery a few times from Trio and I'm just not that big of a fan. Unfortunately there aren't many Thai places in Philly, and Trio is the only one near me that also delivers. I've gotten the seafood hotpot a few times which isn't bad - plenty of seafood (along with veggies and glass noodles) which I guess justifies the $19 price. But it's not very 'hotpot' like to me... it has no broth, just a container with meat, veg and noodles like Chinese takeout. It's tasty, but also slightly greasy and some of the seafood is little overcooked and chewy. Maybe it's better when ordered at the table? Finally, if you're looking for quick delivery, this isn't the place. It always takes a full hour (takeout is quicker). And the Grubhub delivery minimum is $20 so you can't order just for yourself (unless of course you get the hotpot). Sorry Trio, I'm just not overwhelmed. More just whelmed.

Had my birthday dinner here back in November and was extremely happy with how it turned out! We were seated at a long table on the first floor. It's the first time I've ever seen anyone dining downstairs, but worked out perfectly for our party of 13. I had called ahead of time and arranged to do the family style dinner package. For $25 per person, you get an assortment of appetizers, 4 different entrees, and dessert for everyone to share. They did a great job attending to our group and everything was delicious, as usual. I definitely recommend Trio for group dinners!

I have to say- Trio is literally a completely different restaurant when dining in as opposed to getting delivery. My party of 4 walked over last night and picked up beer on our way (yay for BYO!). There was a man standing outside the "to-go entrance" and we all thought he was just some guy waiting for his food... until he turned out to be the host and led us to our table. Maybe he was just standing outside because it was a nice night? We were seated upstairs at a private little table, which was really great. Our server was Victoria and she was extremely warm and very helpful- I would give the service 5 stars. After reading reviews, we got the beggars pouches appetizer. The main flaw with this meal was that it took over 30 minutes for these to come out. Our server apologized and said there had been a large party downstairs that had their order in right before us. We weren't too upset because there were a couple drunk girls in the restaurant that were hilarious. It was seriously like dinner and a show listening to their commentary, and they ended up giving us their half-full bottle of wine when they left. Score! I just hope they didn't drive home... After the appetizer, it took still a little longer for the entrees to come out. My boyfriend and I split the pad woonsen glass noodles with tofu and the fried rice with lemongrass meatballs. I was too worried to try the pad thai again after how lackluster it was the last time. The glass noodles had tons more fresh veggies than before and the flavors were really good in both dishes. It is a tad pricy still, and I will probably never order delivery from here again. But, for a dine-in neighborhood BYOB, I give it my seal of approval!

Great little gem in fairmount. I have been in the greater Philadelphia area for a long time now and just discovered Trio a few months ago. I have already been back 5 times; this should indicate my infatuation with this place. The food has been consistently delicious. They are pretty serious about their spices so be careful if you go to the upper portions of the spice scale. I would recommend the pad Thai, drunken noodles and the Thai samosas. I haven't veered away from these items because of how delicious they are. But I hope to go back another time and try the curries. Also once in a while they have the deviled eggs as specials and they are unbelievable. The ambiance is actually very nice and the staff is very helpful. They have a deck which I look forward to trying out in the summer time. The only problem with this place is Parking. You may have to circle a few times and park a couple blocks away. So a lot of times, I just end up double parking and doing take out. The quality of the takeout is just as good as the dine-in. I gave it 4 stars for now as I haven't tried their curries and I really think that the curries will make that push to five star

More like cheap Chinese food, it really isn't like the stuff you get even at mediocre Thai places. Highly disappointing. Drunken noodles were soaked in soy sauce. Thai basil included raw zucchini, had no basil flavour, the tofu was overly deep fried, it generally looked sad. Also, though we ordered spicy, it was not at all. I also asked for no egg and they didn't comply.

This is a spot for locals. The food was really good and Greg our server couldn't have been more attentive. We were a group of 6 and 4 of us drove there in 2 cars. Parking took 20 minutes and we were both 6 blocks away. Unless your getting there by bike, ubber or walking, it's too hard to park. We looked at the take-out menu for next time and I think that's how we will go. The food is worth the effort, as long as you don't drive there.

We made reservations and sat upstairs for the rooftop view. It was beautiful at the top and it is BYOB! We brought two bottles of wine for the four of us. We started with the Shrimp & Corn Fritters and Pancetta Shrimp Rolls with dipping sauce - both were very good. I ordered the Thai Green Curry for my entree and it was very tasty. I also tried the Drunken Noodles and that dish is great as well.

I recently moved to Fairmount area and was hungry for something other than burgers and pizza. I saw the positive reviews for Trio and thought I'd give them a try. YES! The prosciutto-shrimp spring rolls were outstanding. The Drunken Noodles with Lemongrass Meatballs were recommended and I loved them so much, I returned the next day for a repeat order.

The food I had here was totally fine. The beggar's pouches were quite good, and the pad thai was perfectly acceptable. No specific complaints about it, it just didn't blow me away. I recommend adding duck. The desserts (which I cannot recall the names of) were all very good. The atmosphere, however, is lacking. I was with a large party and we were seated upstairs. It was VERY warm, and--I kid you not--part way through the meal part of the window frame fell off. So there's obviously a poltergeist. Or someone didn't use enough Gorilla Glue. Bottom line, Trio isn't BAD, it just isn't really special. There's better Thai food in Philly, and parking in this area is a fevered nightmare.

There's no booze here, let me just get that out of the way. It's a BYOB but I was not aware of this. That's what happens when you don't pay attention. My boyfriend and I went here based on the Yelp reviews so we were a little disappointed. We had a brand new waiter which meant long waits for refills and answers to questions. That definitely took away from our experience but I do understand the need for new hires so I tried not to let that get to me. Too much. The entrance is weird because the first floor wasn't being used but the kitchen was there. So you enter and then go upstairs. It looks like a laundry store front until you get to the dining level. We ordered the special app of fried deviled eggs filled with guacamole. These were interesting. The outside of the egg was lightly fried and the texture of this was really odd. So while I would definitely recommend ordering these, I never need to eat them again. Main courses of Pineapple Fried Rice and Drunken Noodles were good but not great. Just average, hence the score. For dessert, they came by with an iPad and photos of the desserts. Which look AND taste really good. So I would go for that. But, since it took me 40 minutes to find a mostly illegal parking spot, we might never return. All in all this was exactly what the rating explains but I like to write so there ya go.

I order from here all the time. Is the not the best THAI in town neither the cheapest, but it does the job. Its BYOB, and the food is usually pretty good.

Delivery was super fast - like, less than 30 minutes. That's unheard of and awesome. Pleasant dude who dropped it off. Best tom kha soup in Philadelphia, and the pad thai was pretty great too - not my absolute fave in all of Philly, but still really great. This might be my new favorite Thai delivery!

We stopped here for a quick dinner on a sat night before a concert at North Star. What a gem of a place!!!!! Amazing Thai and its a BYO. Fabulous. Well def be back!

Been there three times and always eat upstairs on the deck which for me is the compelling reason to go. Food is perfectly fine but there is no dish that I would single out as being the reason to go such as the artichoke at L'Angolo or the ricotta pancakes at Cafe Lift. Service is OK. If not outstanding nothing to ruin your meal. I know that this place has its rabid fans and I'm glad , but that kind of euphoria about its food and service I don't get.

Ouch, bad service from start to finish mars a mediocre, at best, BYOB meal. Things got off to a bad start when we were walking to the restaurant at 7:30 and got a call from the owner telling us our reservation was unacceptable. We used open table, that we got to from Trio's website, 8 hours before and somehow they did not see the reservation until the actual time of the reservation and they thought they gave our table away. In the end we got seated quickly in a more than half empty restaurant. I hoped that things would improve from there, but instead they went downhill. Seated at 7:40, appetizers ordered by 8:00; wrong apps delivered sloppily at 8:40, correct apps delivered at 9:05. Oh, the apps were soup and when we ordered them we were told it was "premade" and no changes were possible; what takes 30 plus minutes to ladle soup into a bowl? I also want to point out that the wrong apps were delivered with half of the soup having spilled all over the plate underneath and onto the spring rolls on the other plate. The server still tried to place this mess on the table. When our food finally came it was average at best. No special flavors or presentation in the food. I have had dishes as good from Trader Joe's frozen department. And those dishes were not as expensive and they did not take as long. The final insult comes with your credit card returned to you with an IPad and the tip is suggested on the front screen in bold; if you want to tip at another level, you have to hit "another option" while the waiter hovers over you to see what you are tipping. All in all, I am sorry I tried this place. I will not venture back. I recommend you spend your money at a restaurant that has better food, better service, and an overall experience that would be more enjoyable. Philadelphia has so many excellent BYO restaurants, it is not worth your trouble here.

Oh just a delightful, little BYO. I have ordered both take-out and sat down and ate with my number one pal. Their pad thai is so so so freaking good. Their drunken noodles are bangin. Stay away from the papaya salad--it's overpriced for what it is. (The best papaya salad is at NAM PHUONG OMG NAM PHUONG I WANT IT RN) Desserts were yummy. Also their is lovely outdoor seating but I'm a little wuss and was too cold to sit out there. Overall, a smidge pricey, but it is fast, yummy and literally a block away from where I live. See you in a couple weeks, Trio.

Best Thai food that I have had. Although I'm not a big thai food eater, I was very impressed with their selection. Wait staff was cordial and very informative. I will definitely be back.

Hm. I don't know how I feel about this place. Maybe it was the amount of time it took us to find parking. Maybe it was the couple behind us arguing in a loud whisper. Or maybe it was the green curry that took a year to come to the table and was just decent. Wasn't spicy, wasn't even somewhat spicy, and was served kinda cold. I went back a second time and ordered the pad Thai because I figured, what Thai restaurant could mess up Pad Thai? Well, it wasn't bad but it wasn't mind blowing either. It tasted like something I made myself at home. On the up side, it's BYOB. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

Ordered some takeout and got the Yelp favorites of Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles ($31). The result was underwhelming. The drunken noodles were okay as they were slightly spicy with some flavor and had a decent amount of meat. However, the Shrimp Pad Thai was pretty bland and had 4 shrimp. Not 5, not 6.... 4. Have you ever seen the movie Booty Call, because it comes to mind? --------------------------------------------------Â---------------------------- Bunz - "I ordered the shrimp fried rice, where are the shrimp?" Restaurant owner - "There's a shrimp here [points].... and a shrimp there." --------------------------------------------------Â---------------------------- it was like that. Other than that, the restaurant seemed pretty empty, but decent looking interior. Time to cook the food and have it ready to go was faster than it took for me to get there. Overall though, the price is too high for substandard Thai food in the middle of a nowhere neighborhood. The rent must be like 1000 a month there, compared to some center city place that has to earn 5 times as much just to stay alive. Food Quality/Taste = 2 Stars Portion Size Given Price = 3 Stars Price = 2 Stars Experience with Staff = 4 Stars Decor = 4 Stars ----Erwan Thai has better Thai food.---

This is my third time in trio and I love it. I love the food and the prices. It a great place to go with your friends or a date. Great that is byob. My only complain is the service. Is getting bad, the sever was not attentive to us. We had to keep on asking for him to show to our table because we needed water , desert, and the check.

Had many meals here and take out as well, always great/friendly service. Great BYOB spot and very good Thai food as well.

This is one of most dependable restaurants in the area. Service is always good, and the food is always good. Highly recommend the crispy duck and the pad thai. Both are delicious, although the drunken noodles are good too. For appetizers, the beggar's pouches can't be beat. As others have said, parking is tough in this neighborhood, so you might end up a few blocks away, but it's worth it.

Loved sitting outside on their patio Saturday night. Service was friendly and fast. Had the seafood dumplings which were good, and pad thai with duck was excellent. $55 including tip for the two of us, nice experience. Would be tough to come with a larger group because it is tight inside, but perfect spot for 2.

What a fantastic dinner! We sat on the rooftop and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious - I would recommend the most popular appetizer and the fried rice with lemongrass meatballs. Delicious. Our waiter was also amazing. He was the only one there and the place got pretty crowded, but he was so quick we couldn't even tell. It is also BYOB, so that was the cherry on top for us! A great ambiance and delicious food means we will be visiting again soon!

First of all, if you're thinking of stopping by here, you're probably better off either walking or cabbing because parking around this neighborhood is a total bust unless you've got the parking gods on your side. I ordered the Papaya Salad as a starter, as well as the Thai Green Curry with Tofu/Veggies. I've gotta say the Papaya Salad was kind of a letdown that definitely set the tone for what kind of "Thai-influenced place" this is. I feel like every Thai place , if anything, should serve a solid Tomyum soup, Mango/Papaya salad, Pad Thai and curry. The salad was just not even trying and the addition of romaine lettuce made it an awkward, culturally-confused dish. I know "fusion" is all the rage, but this is pushin' it guys. As for the curry, it was just average and maybe that's being generous because I was starving. Altogether, Trio is that place you wouldn't mind ordering take-out from when you don't feel like cooking and maybe for a convenient BYOB spot because you're too lazy to venture out into center city. Other than that, it's more of a spot where if someone asked you how it was, the appropriate answer would be something along the lines of "meh."

My boyfriend and I ate here last weekend. Although parking is horrible and practically impossible to find in this neighborhood, this place is great! The food was very tasty and enjoyable. We thought the fact that they put pumpkin in in my pad see ewe and served butternut squash with apple soup was unusual, but nevertheless, the food was very good. The soup and our main dishes were excellent! I would highly recommend this restaurant for Thai/fusion of some sort food.
Was not familiar with this restaurant until this weekend. AWESOME!!! Food was great, Service was great, and you could not beat the price. also ITS a BYO!!!! HOLLA! One app, 4 entrees, and 4 desserts (save room, you'll definitely enjoy!!) cost us a whopping $100. FANTASTIC!

Ordered delivery last night. Listed as Thai on yelp and Thai/pan Asian on their website: overall bland either way. Ordered drunken noodles-bland dry chicken, Thai basil fried rice-very bland and odd flavor profile & seafood dumpling soup-ok ,but dumplings were mostly flavorless dough. Many better options in philly. Don't understand all the great reviews on yelp.

I've heard so many great things about this place. So, I had to try. It's not too far away from work. I drove around 4 times. Finally found parking. Got in and waited for a bit to be seated. Had to asked the waiter in the middle of the restaurant. I got seated upstairs in the terrance. It was alittle nippy but ok. My son and I ordered the dumpling. This I must say was delicately moist and soft. Perfect combination of shirmp mixture and wonton wrap (green and regular). A chinese dish not thai. But oh so good. Served on top of a mixture of greens and soy dipping sauce. I ordered the special of the day. Fish something served on couscous and curry sauce. This sauce is thick and flavorful. Great with the fish. As for the couscous it was ok for me. I'd personally rather rice but its just me. My son ordered the curry chicken. That was also good too. On the smaller portion but good. Thai tea was alittle bland for my taste but ok. The desert was the topper. A red velvet cake that was so good I had to steal a bit from my son. lol. I ordered the bread pudding and I must say I've only had good bread pudding in New Orleans but their bread pudding is just as good as my experience in the creole town. Next time I will probably order dessert first and then my dinner. I think the portions are alittle small for the price but the dessert was perfect. Kudos to my waiter Patrick (I think)? Gave me the 411 on the name of Trio and what kind of food it is. Asian Fusion style. lol

Love this place. Noodles are great and you can never beat a BYOB. I go all the time and am always thrilled with the service and shocked about how great the price is when you aren't paying for drinks. Organize a lot of group friend dinners there.

Trio is pretty tasty. First, follow the advice of your fellow Yelpers and SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT. I had the pleasure of consuming a slice of pumpkin cheesecake that tasted more like pumpkin (but not pie) and less like the abomination of sugar and cheese you find elsewhere. Second, the tofu in the Tofu with Ginger is really crispy without being overly oily, but do ask for extra vegetables...otherwise you're likely to get a plate with some ginger and fried tofu and some errant vegetables seeking shelter under a pile of tofu triangles. Third, the vegetables and shrimp in the curry were crispy and had that sort of "farm-to-the-table" freshness...too bad everything was drowned in overly coconut milked curry sauce.

Trio serves fine Thai cuisine and is a staple of the Fairmount neighborhood. My wife and I get take-out from Trio about once a month and occasionally dine. Don't let the empty ground floor fool you. Most of their seating is upstairs and probably packed. We love the pad-thai and drunken noodle. Friendly staff and good service.

Trio was exactly as I had expected. Cute neighborhood joint on the corner, BYO benefits, average Thai food (damn you, Philadelphia). Menu was small and strange. Would I like pad thai, or did I want a strip steak? How about Ahi tuna over mashed potatoes, or a simple green curry? Ended up sharing drunken noodles with chicken and the green curry with tofu. Noodles were a good portion, as they usually are, but my boyfriend complained about the lack of ingredients. Unfortunately I'd have to say the same about the curry. The flavor was there, but somehow the vegetables were missing. Too much green pepper (cheap) and not enough eggplant or tofu (there were maybe four triangles in the whole dish). Servers were very sweet, especially after I spilled my wine all over the white tablecloth (I don't know how it happened! It was only my first glass!) and the desserts were introduced to us via iPad, which was something I had not expected. An introduction to what 2012 will bring, I suppose. I don't hang out in Fairmount, ever. It's entirely too far away from where I live and we were just grabbing a bite to eat before my brothers played a gig at the North Star. Next time I find myself in the area, though? I'd go somewhere else.

Great little BYO Thai restaurant in Fairmount. We have eaten both in the restaurant as a couple and with friends, and have equally done take-out. Easy to make a reservation, nice outdoor seating and great food, and fast delivery for take out. Our favorites are the Pad Thai and the Drunken noodles, along with the Beggar's pouches for an app.
(4)
Mary G.
Brought our own bottle of wine and they take it back and make it into sangria. I shared the beggar pouches and they were good but not easy to eat. They actually look like pouches. I got the drunken noodles with duck and had it not spicy. I split the thai basil fried rice as well. Everything was so good!

What a great restaurant! Friendly neighborhood feel and attentive staff at this byo. There is always an owner there to make sure you are having a comfortable dining experience, and he always asks for opinions on how they can make things better. The Pad Thai is to die for, and the appetizers are wonderful. Try the Beggars Pouches! With daily specials and a willingness to make your food as spicy as you want it, this is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Be prepared, however, it can be hard to find parking in this neighborhood as it's mostly residential.

Previously, my husband and I had tried Trio a number of times but were disappointed. We gave them one last shot around March/April of this year and were totally surprised. The dishes are quite excellent now. They load the dishes with colorful, fresh veggies (which they definitely didn't do before). The flavors overall are very much improved. Before, I felt they were way too expensive for what was served, but now that the food is so much better, it seems more reasonable. My husband and I usually get takeout and have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Our favorite dishes are the drunken noodles and the green chicken curry.

I was craving for a decent asian meal and after checking out menu's for a dozen of restaurants, I picked Trio. The menu looked well rounded and yummy so I made reservations. Once we showed up we were promptly taken to our table located on the 2nd floor. It's a nice and cozy restaurant with dim lighting for a touch of romance but the utensils were a little "overused". Server came over poured our ice water and told us the specials mind you he didn't even introduce himself from the get go so I had no idea what his name was. At the time there were about 3 tables including ours. We looked over the menu and decided to share the appetizer special: stuffed calamari with shrimp and pork Entrees were Pork chop with peach sauce and Seafood hot clay pot Then the horrific service began. We didn't wait long for the appetizer to be served. It was a little on the bland side but was cooked well. After the appetizer we waited for a good 20 minutes for our entrees. Pork chop was suppose to be cooked to order but it was completely overdone and tough. The Seafood clay pot surprisingly was very tasty and the seafood was cooked perfectly. After our server cleared our plates I would assume he would ask if we were interested in dessert or if we wanted to see the dessert menu but nope. He took our plates and left. 20 minutes later we are sitting twiddling our thumbs and at this point VERY ANNOYED he still didn't come to our table to offer us either dessert or the check. We finally waved him down and asked for our check until then he asked if he can interest us in dessert. Overall: Restaurant is nice and cozy and food was tasty but because of their service I will not be back again. For a restaurant to state this on their website : "Trio offers Pan-Asian cuisine with a heavy Thai influence, along with the warm service and hospitality that you would expect from a cozy neighborhood BYOB.". I did not receive what the restaurant was striving for to give their customers.

We chose this place because it was BYOB in walking distance and we've been on the hunt for a good Thai place. I got the duck, and the plum sauce was just about the most delicious thing that I've ever tasted. I even had to pull the oh-so-classy maneuver and scrape my plate with my spoon to make sure I didn't let any of it go to waste. The two of us try to venture to new places for date nights, but sometimes we can't resist the appeal of a reasonably priced yet delectable, always-leave-ya-wanting-more, meal. Needless to say, we've been back-- and have loved it every time!

YUM - best Thai take-out! It's a regular spot for my husband and I. Drunken noodles, tom yum soup and seafood dumplings are the best!

Really great gem in Fairmount. Some of the best thai food I've had in a long time. Yummy soup with lemmongrass and shrimp. Very nice dining area upstairs, and a little deck off the back. Too bad it was raining tonight but I look forward to having some dinner out there sometime. Would be a great date restaurant.

Trio may be Philadelphia's best kept secret. In fact, I'm hesitating to write anything more about the amazing experience my boyfriend and I had over this past weekend. BACKGROUND: As if Trio's food wasn't stand-alone awesome enough, they had donated a gift certificate to a raffle last year for "The Dude Hates Cancer" for the Leukemia Society's grand prize. Lucky me, I had won the raffle and was able to enjoy brunch here before we went off to the Art Museum. BRUNCH: My boyfriend and I really weren't expecting much to be honest. I mean, how could a place that specializes in Thai food be that good in making brunch food? Umm...boy I was wrong. My boyfriend had gotten a side of thick-cut bacon coated with some kind of delicious a honey glaze. A "religious experience," he proclaimed. It all could have stopped there, but it didn't. This glorious bacon accompanied a Crab Cake, Quail Egg on Prosciutto dish. The crab cake was done beautifully. Not overburdened by breadcrumbs. You could really taste the beauty of the crab meat. The side of "house fries" this dish came with were legit potatoes that were kind of like potato chips. These potatoes were neither French Fries nor Potato Chips. Totally a "discuss amongst yourselves" moment. This life-changing experience didn't just stop there. It continued on with the most mouth-watering blueberry and ricotta pancakes that have ever touched my lips. I hate using the word moist *shivers*, but there really is no other way to describe this gooey delicious party going on in my mouth. SERVICE: Our waiter was wonderful and spent some time talking to me and my boyfriend about the area (as we're both from out-of-town). He gave us advice on where to get a bottle of wine on a Sunday. And, our way out the Chef even popped out to greet us (totally unexpected) and wished us a great trip to the Art Museum (wait how did he know?). Trio, I heart you. My boyfriend and I went to numerous "Best Thing I Ever Ate" and Iron Chef restaurants on this trip, and dammit, you stand up as the clear winner. I love you forever, Colleen.

Got take out and arrived right as they were packing the food. It was a quick walk home so I wasn't worried about the food becoming soggy. We each got an entree and split Vegetable Samosas, which I say were good but they seemed pretty bland, the peanut sauce was delicious though. My Girlfriend chose the Pineapple Fried Rice with Tofu and Vegetables. I thought it was ok because it was seriously lacking spice. I got the Drunken Noodles with Chicken. I thought mine was my dish was better than the pineapple fried rice, but once again there was a complete lack of spice. When I eat Thai I am expecting a very distinct taste followed by a very hot spice. This did not exist. I won't be going back for a long time.

A gf raved about Trio to me and I was up to try it. I do like thai food in general. Looking at the website the menu didn't have a ton of options that peaked my interest. I ended up ordering the beggars pouches and the sweet corn fritters. The beggars pouches didn't agree well with me after i started eating the 2nd one. Maybe it was the sauce it came with. I preferred the corn fritters but I couldn't tolerate that too much either- I did prefer the sauce of this though. I think it was probably more because they were fried. Staying away from the usual, i avoided the pad thai. Not interested in the salmon or anything with chicken. The seafood hot pot looked interested but I was trying to stay within budget. I ended up getting the crispy tofu ginger dish. It wasn't that bad actually. I enjoyed the tofu a lot. Which it had more sauce though. I ate with the white rice it came with. The dish was not WOW'ing in any way. I can't say I'd go back to this place. It's not a bad place, just not noteworthy. If I lived close by i may try another item on the menu.

My boyfriend has pretty much turned Thai because of how often he eats Thai food. The combination of that and how close Trio was to my old apartment, found us there one weeknight. I had ordered delivery pad thai from Trio before, and it was pretty good. Not amazing, but solid. So I was hoping that eating in would be even better. We both started with a soup. I got pumpkin, which was the best thing of the night, and he got coconut, which he gets at almost every Thai restaurant. Compared to similar soups elsewhere, his was mediocre. For an appetizer we got the vegetable samosas. These were pretty good, crispy but not too fried, with a nice filling and a good peanut sauce. I then got the seared ahi tuna, which had almost no flavor. I never feel the need to season my food, and so when I had to ask the waiter for soy sauce, it was a big deal. While there was nothing bad about the dish, there really wasn't anything good either. He got the drunken noodles which they are famous for, and asked them to make it a 4 out of 5 on the spicy scale...which was probably a bit too brazen...which was probably why he didn't enjoy it. The below par food coupled with the below par service has made it our only trip there thus far. Unfortunate, since it was so close to my old apartment. The owners also own Isabel, which I feel similarly about. Decent food, less than decent service.

multi level BYO. my friend and i tried the beggar's pouches, house salad, pineapple fried rice, and chicken thai basil. beggar's pouches: served nice and hot, even the two of us that don't like seafood much enjoyed them. a bit awkward to eat so if you're on a first date, don't get them. house salad: it's impossible for me to say no to a salad with pear and sugared walnuts in it. the balsamic vinaigrette dressing was just the right amount. pineapple fried rice: the chicken in it took on the flavor of the curry, but tasted kinda bland. this was a really dry dish. neither of us were expecting the yellow curry -- was imagining something else. chicken thai basil: this dish is what helps me decide if a thai place is worth returning to. i enjoyed the bok choy that accompanied but this had hardly any sauce and GARLIC CHUNKS in it. please tell me why. garlic flavoring competes far too much with the other flavors. if you are into that be my guest! but otherwise i'll only be back to try the samosas, desserts, and drink some vino.

W found this place via Yelp after we went through Terror Behind the Walls and wanted to get dinner somewhere within walking distance. We arrived without reservations and they said it was going to be a 5-10 minute wait even though the restaurant was empty for the most part. But we were in no rush so we just looked over the menu while we waited. The waitress came up to tell us the specials of the day, but honestly there was just too many specials so my eyes started to glaze over half way through. She was really nice though. Ended up sharing the salad kak and corn fritters. The salad was alright but I would definitely recommend getting the corn fritters! I think W ordered the green curry for and I got chicken pad thai. Pad thai was on the sweet side (but I also didn't add any of the lime to it) but it was very good and filling. Green curry was spicy so I only tried a little, but it didn't seem too bad if you're into coconut and spicy flavors. I think my favorite part was sitting out on the outside deck. They have pretty lights surrounding the deck and it's a very nice atmosphere to eat in. Unfortunately, we got a wonky table so every now and then our table would tip from side to side, and it's wooden so it was like being in boat that was gently rocking back and forth. If we could give half stars, I would rate 3.5 stars.

We have been here twice in the last month, since we can walk from our condo. We sat outside both times, so cannot comment on the inside part of the restaurant. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. I had the drunken noodles with tofu and vegetables both times. These were mildly spicy, but you can ask them to make it a little spicier if you want a little more heat. Very good, but I think Chaaba's in Manayunk are a little better. My husband had the Pad Thai and thought it was very good.

Trio is a delicious, cute BYO right in my neighborhood! We ordered a bunch of apps and the Pineapple Fried Rice and they were all delicious (samosas, beggar's pouches, and potato cake things). -.5 star for service...wasn't slow, but our waiter was just really strange. Very reasonably priced I would definitely recommend it, especially if you live around Fairmount!

Great experience at this neighborhood Thai restaurant. The atmosphere is very cute & the food was great. I recommend the drunken noodles & also I believe the "seafood hot pot." The staff was friendly & I would definitely return in warmer weather to sit on the roof.
Got delivery from here on a gloomy, rainy Sunday and it was totally worth it. The drunken noodle is AMAZING and the seafood steamed dumplings were great. Delivery was fast too!!! Definitely ordering from them again!

Why haven't I been here before?! BYO, intimate, great service, delicious food. My special lady got the special cauliflower curry soup (spicy, hearty, perfect for the winter). She also got the pan roasted salmon from the menu (slightly fishy, but good). I ordered off the restaurant week menu..(cheap, I know!) we split Thai vegetable samosas (fried, but tasty..best samosas we've had). Next was the Crispy Beggars Pouches (fried again, but ridiculous good). I ordered the fish of the day.. no clue what it was (started with a C, hope that helps haha).. it was AWESOME. Light, tasty sauce, perfect veggies. But thats not all, I got a dessert too! Carrot Cake.. G-Dam was that good.

Bigger than you'd think Thai, but good for all pallets Reasonable price I don't really venture to this side of town often, except for the occasional trip to the Northstar. On a Friday we were visiting friends who live down the block, and headed there with a group of 7. The place looks pretty tiny when you walk in, but they have 3 floors of seating and were able to accomodate our sizable group without issue. The staff was supre friendly and accommodating, as we were served by no less than four people and I never saw the bottom of my water glass. On a recommendation, I ordered the Drunken Noodles with shrimp. They utilize a star rating for heat, 1 to 5. The noodles are listed at 1, but I upped it to 3 and they were damn near perfect. Not overly spicy as to overwhelm the dish, but definitely better than a 1. If you like your food hot (as I do,) I might go with a 4. The noodles are really good too, thick enough to absorb a lot of the sauce. Overall the bill for a group of 7 came to just a hair above $150. Nobody got desert, and it's a BYO, so it's definitely reasonable if you want some great food without a back-breaking bill at the end!
Meh is a good description for this restaurant. After reading the reviews when we moved into the neighborhood, we were very excited to have a Thai restaurant (our favorite type of food) so close. The food was bland, and there was nothing good about the experience. For decent Thai we have had to venture outside of Fairmount, although we have really tried to like the restaurant for its proximity.

I ate here for the first time yesterday, having no idea what to expect, and was blown away by Trio's brunch selection. I ordered the huevos rancheros. The dish was different than any other place I've had it. The tortillas were in strips, resembling chinese wontons. They were awesome, and stayed crunchy throughout the meal. The huevos were cheesy and spicy, and delicious. To round out the meal, I ordered a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice .....mmmmmmm. I will definitely be coming back to Trio to try the rest of the dishes!

Okay the food itself is pretty good. I'd give 3-4 but.... 1 - Even if their dinner sized dishes weren't lunch sized it would still be overpriced. 2 - Amount of rice given for take-out offensively miniscule. Has happened every time when purchasing multiple dishes for take-out. It probably cost them more to buy the tiny non-standard size take-out countainers than it would be to give a decent proportion of rice. Skimping on the rice this badly just doesn't make sense for anyone - customer or restaurant.

Solid Thai staples in a restaurant that it off the beaten path a bit. We had the drunken noodles and thai basil chicken, and the thai samosas and all were excellent. The waiter was very friendly and quick.

This restaurant is really beautiful. I really enjoyed the decor, settings and a little pretty flower on the tables. I will list the pros and cons rather than writing out a whole book - I don't have much material to work with. 1. Atmosphere is amazing. It's a great place to go with a date, bring your parents to. Candle light? check. Flower on the table? check! 2. Service is great. The waitress is definitely a sweetheart and her attention to details definitely enhanced my dining experience. 3. It's a BYO. How amazing is that? 4. Food is hit of miss. We had 3 dishes to share - samosas, veg pad thai, and thai basil chicken. The amount of food was substantial. However, nothing was special. Actually, the veg pad thai was below average. 5. It's not so cheap. The price definitely matches the setting but the food doesn't match up to the fare. Overall, I'd like to return and give it another try with a bottle of wine. It's super close to my place and I'd hate to give up on this nice BYO.

Great quiet Thai place. It's a little unorthodox, being upstairs, requiring all the people and waiters to walk up and down that tiny staircase, but the food is delicious and the staff is attentive. Great place for a date.

I'm in no rush to return to Trio. The food was just okay. My meal was served cold and was missing some of the ingredients listed on the menu-my friend ordered the same dish and had everything- I didn't have the opportunity to ask for mine to be corrected because our server became busy and never returned to ask how we were or if we needed anything additional. As a 'take out' place I'm sure Trio is fine, but as a proper restaurant it was seriously underwhelming. Next time I'll stay home and order from my local take out.

Best Thai restaurant I have ever been to! Service is superb. Food is excellent. It has a great ambience - warm colors... byo... I love coming to Trio! Neighborhood gem!! I LOVE their pad thai. We go there to celebrate special occasions, for a quick bite when we don't feel like cooking, to bring friends when they are in town, it is a restaurant that suits any occasion! They have a large room on the top level that you can rent for special occasions. They also have an outdoor area which is a deck on the back of the restaurant.

After my first visit here, I was hoping it wasn't a fluke how much I liked the food and ambiance here. It wasn't a fluke. This place is really delicious and overall very enjoyable. Both times we were with a group of 8 or more and the service was awesome. I've tried the green curry, which I'm always a sucker for at Thai places, and the pad thai with crab. The curry was scrumptious and had some good heat behind it. They let you choose how hot you want it and they seemed to get it just right. The crab pad thai was pretty good too. The portion is very large so it would be good to share and packs some pretty solid flavor in each bite. This place is one of the best Thai restaurants I've found in Philly and is always a great choice for our friend's bday dinners.

I've been meaning to get this review up for quite some time now and after having tried out Trio's brunch recently, I just had to get on and do a little raving. Let's break this down into many little reviews....the food, service, and atmosphere. One review just wouldn't suffice... Food first of course! There is one dish I get every time I go....the pineapple fried rice. Throw a little shrimp in there and it's a delicious complete meal that will not disappoint you! But would I ever let it be my only meal...no way. I always share a few things with whoever I'm with. The crab cakes and thai basil chicken are more favorites. This is definitely a place that you'd want to order a couple of apps and dishes to try out a little of everything. And as for their brunch....definitely stop in! I'm a big fan of brunch and like to mix it up and try different places, but this will absolutely become a regular spot. On to atmosphere... Great for dates, dinner with friends, special occasions...just about everything! Trio has several floors. I've always sat on the second or on the outside deck. On a comfortable day it is a great little spot! The downstairs seating isn't as appealing, but there must be a way to make a small space more inviting to sit in....maybe fewer tables? or maybe no desert display? It's a tough one. But needless to say, the rest of the restaurant is very inviting and comfortable....good ambiance for sure. If you haven't been in recently, check out the new tables designed and built by Michael, one of the owners. They are incredible! And the service... Always friendly and want to do their best. Sometimes I feel like one of the waitresses is actually going to sit down at our table and start hanging out, but I'd much rather that than someone snotty who is trying to rush you out or someone who really doesn't know what they are doing. One last thing.....if you can, definitely walk or cab it. Finding parking around Trio is not easy! If you have to drive, add a bit of time on before your dinner to search for a spot, otherwise you could get very frustrated! Overall, Trio is definitely a go-to place....one of my city favorites!

We live very close to Trio and have gone a few times now. We loved it. The food was really fresh and flavorful. I have had the drunken noodles and the pad thai along with a bunch of the appetizers. The corn fritter appetizer is so light and tasty. It's BYOB and that is always nice because it keeps the price down. The wait staff is really nice and it's so far been busy but not so much that you can't get a table. There have been a lot of big tables that we've seen too. I'm thrilled to have it so close and we'll be staples there.

Good service. I ordered the drunken noodles with vegetables and tofu and I was expecting it to be spicy, which it lacked a bit. Otherwise the noodles were good had a good first time experience

I went with my family and it was so hot that night, I wish we could have eaten on the roofdeck....so I will have to go back. The specials are excellent...and it is BYOB! A great neighborhood gem!

Bottom line: I'm not rushing back for more. Good for large groups + it's a BYOB. I didn't hear any major complaints but, in a group of 20, I also didn't hear anyone proclaim, "man, that was an awesome meal" or "I love the decor". I feel self-conscious about giving this place two stars in light of some of the rave reviews on here. For me, the food and atmosphere were meh. We were there with a very large party (20), so it's great that they can accommodate big groups - and they did so graciously with a semi-private space upstairs. I don't think the restaurant is too concerned with the decor, but being greeted at the entryway with a refrigerated bakery case, lit up with florescent bulbs, empty except for a few tiny torts, sort of dampened things for me from the get-go. The staff was really nice, the menu is limited, but we all found something to get excited about. Alex and I shared the crispy beggars' pouches, crispy duck, and green curry. The pouches reminded me of fancy crab rangoons - only less greasy, and filled with a crab/shrimp mousse of a nice consistency. Really nice presentation, but I thought the accompaniment was too sweet. I have eaten a whole lot of duck in my life. When the bird is served in tact, sometimes the skin is oozing grease. When it is served shredded, sometimes the meat is overcooked and dry. This crispy duck was served on the bone - meat was moist and tasty; the skin was thin, crispy, and crunchy. Not fatty at all. However, the coconut brown rice over which it was served was entirely without flavor, and the bok choy lay limply, overcooked and watery. At $20, I was disappointed when the curry did not move the earth. I appreciated the fresh vegetables (eggplant was nice) and the presentation, but I can't remember one thing about the way it tasted. What other people ate: the beef salad was reportedly salty; the seafood hotpot featured fresh ingredients, which were promptly made to taste like soy sauce by an unnecessarily aggressive dousing; sweet corn fritters were decent; the drunken noodles didn't get any complaints. PS. They need more chocolate on the desert menu!! No one partook, but they offered bread pudding, pecan pie, vanilla tart with raspberries, and several others, all made on premises (including homemade vanilla ice cream).

Weird restaurant. We found ourselves walking a huge flight of stairs to the main dining room. However the food was great. The pad Thai was one of the best ive had in the city. It is byo which is a huge plus.

When I checked-in here, I wrote my hopes that I finally found my thai place in the city. Unfortunately, I had spoken too soon. The place is on the corner in fairmount where its impossible to find parking. Dimly lit, it seems more of a "fancy american" version of a traditional thai restaurant but still very nice. My tom yum soup was exactly what I wanted, extremely flavorful and the chicken extremely tender. The spring rolls were crispy and filling and this is when I began to gain excitement that I finally found my place in the city. I had ordered the drunken noodle after reading all the wonderful reviews and my date ordered pad thai for a safe bet. The pad thai was amazing, completely what you would expect from such a classic dish. The drunken noodle.. the menu forgets to mention onion and carrots are included and it ended up being 60& of the dish. The noodles were cut small and the sauce was not thick or flavorful at all. It seemed like they just sauteed the vegetables, chicken and little amount of noodles in a simple spicy glaze and called it a day. Very disappointing. I give this place 3 stars because everything else is excellent, but the main event failed to deliver.

I really, really, wanted to like Trio. It's near my house, byob and thai, which are all big pluses. Unfortunately I just don't. I thought my first dining experience there 2 years ago was a fluke so I decided to give them another try with take out. Again, there was something wrong with the flavors. I ordered the green curry with tofu and vegetables. It came with very little sauce and only a few large triangle pieces of tofu, that I ended up cutting into 4 pieces each. Not used to needing a knife with curry! While it did have a lot of veggies which I would usually find a good thing, these all seemed to be prepared wrong for the dish. Long shaved pieces of carrot? 1 split head of bok choy? Tiny slivers of eggplant? Something is off with the way they prep they veggies for this dish. If that wasn't enough to disappoint, the flavor of the sauce was just off. On the menu it was marked spicy, so I was expecting the typical play of sweet and spice I have come to love in curry. Not the case with this, I found little spice in the sauce so it tasted almost sugary. If there had been enough sauce for the $12 price tag I might have over looked it and dealt with it, but for $12 I really want to just be able to eat my food, not finish the prep work.

(4)Alan H.

(5)Jason M.
A great BYO option in Fairmount. I particularly like the deck on the top floor for outdoor dining. The food is consistently well prepared and a rotating list of specials add variety to the mix. They also have take-out service, which I've taken advantage of more times than I want to admit.
(4)Stevie S.

(5)Laney S.
In total I have eaten here 2-3 times and the food honestly is worth it. However, the 2nd time I tried eating here they said they didn't take card over the phone. (I paid by card before). I would recommend this place in a heart beat.
(4)Andrea G.
Super yum! Very reasonable prices for amazing food and service. While many of their items are not veg or vegan friendly, they will accommodate for such diets. I recommend the portobello soup...very tasty!
(5)Erin C.
The drunken noodles and pad thai are awesome! We used to go there weekly when we lived on the block, and now we are sure to go for a special treat when we are in the area. The waitstaff is great as well.
(5)Brian C.
(4)Joshua R.

(4)Jennifer R.

One and only one downside: no chopsticks :(
(5)Gabby M.
A nice, neighborhood place. The food was pretty good but the service was incredibly slow. To be fair, we had a party of 8. But, to be whiny, it took over 2 hrs for us to get out of there (ordering and eating at a normal pace).
(3)Bhavika P.

(4)Larissa G.

(4)Noam M.
(2)Ted K.
(4)Megan K.
(5)Thom K.
(4)Michelle C.
(3)Jayna B.
(3)C S.
I order from here all the time. Is the not the best THAI in town neither the cheapest, but it does the job. Its BYOB, and the food is usually pretty good.
(3)Kate W.
(4)Ashley S.
We stopped here for a quick dinner on a sat night before a concert at North Star. What a gem of a place!!!!! Amazing Thai and its a BYO. Fabulous. Well def be back!
(5)matthew l.
(3)Milk W.
(1)Tim M.
Nice Thai place in Fairmount. Beggars pouches are phenomenal!
(4)Erin E.
(4)Chris T.
Best Thai food that I have had. Although I'm not a big thai food eater, I was very impressed with their selection. Wait staff was cordial and very informative. I will definitely be back.
(5)Dana M.
(2)Sal W.
Food Quality/Taste = 2 Stars Portion Size Given Price = 3 Stars Price = 2 Stars Experience with Staff = 4 Stars Decor = 4 Stars ----Erwan Thai has better Thai food.---
(2)Ana Conda R.
This is my third time in trio and I love it. I love the food and the prices. It a great place to go with your friends or a date. Great that is byob. My only complain is the service. Is getting bad, the sever was not attentive to us. We had to keep on asking for him to show to our table because we needed water , desert, and the check.
(5)Trevor D.
Had many meals here and take out as well, always great/friendly service. Great BYOB spot and very good Thai food as well.
(5)P K.
(5)Kim L.
(4)Meredith M.
(5)Tina L.
(3)Angela N.
(4)Kat C.
Okay - So when you go in, you kind of feel like you're walking in someone's house and interrupting a game of scrabble but beyond the way-too-homey décor, the food is great. I had pad thai and it was PERFECT and a couple of my friends enjoyed the drunken noodles and they are still talking about how good it was (even several months later). Also, the service was good, folks were nice and so it's a great place to relax, have a meal with your girlfriends and talk all night. Definitely coming back - just sit upstairs ;) PS. It's BYOB!
(4)Abbie D.
FANTASTIC!
(5)Judy W.
(2)Alicat A.
DELICIOUS food!!!! I had their special--the blueberry gazpacho and it was to die for!!!!! Hope they make it again soon!!!
(5)Molly D.
Got the sea food special with blood orange glaze. It was so good that I ate my left overs for breakfast. Also great: the spaghetti squash soup and chocolate hazelnut mouse.
(5)Mimi L.
Asian Fusion style. lol
(5)James O.

(4)Vanessa L.
Overcharged my credit card. Management has refused to talk to me after multiple calls. We used to get take-out from Trio every week. This meal was greasy and tasted horrible as well.
(1)David R.
(5)Allison B.
(3)Kate B.
(4)Mary G.
Brought our own bottle of wine and they take it back and make it into sangria. I shared the beggar pouches and they were good but not easy to eat. They actually look like pouches. I got the drunken noodles with duck and had it not spicy. I split the thai basil fried rice as well. Everything was so good!
(4)Food Hound S.
(4)Amy W.

(1)Amanda D.
(4)Jaime K.
YUM - best Thai take-out! It's a regular spot for my husband and I. Drunken noodles, tom yum soup and seafood dumplings are the best!
(5)Kelly C.
(5)Sarah B.
A charming Thai place in a cool neighborhood. The food is pretty good, but a little overpriced. I loved eating on the deck.
(4)Colleen C.

Yum! We're definitely coming back here for seconds! The samosas are devine - best peanut sauce ever. This place is a gem.

(5)Robert G.
Just ate Pad Thai w Lemon Grass Meatballs and a app of Beggars Pouches. Wonderful meal, sat outside and it was a great value.
(5)Beth U.
I expected the spring rolls to be fresh and not fried, and the PAD WOONSEN (glass noodle dish) was just not very flavorful. I think I maybe ordered badly because a lot of people like this place.
(2)Imani G.
Great experience at this neighborhood Thai restaurant. The atmosphere is very cute & the food was great. I recommend the drunken noodles & also I believe the "seafood hot pot." The staff was friendly & I would definitely return in warmer weather to sit on the roof.

We went for restaurant week. I am not a huge seafood fan, but my boyfriend is, so we decided to give this place a try. We were there at 6PM on a Saturday and we were the only ones there till around 7PM. There were many people coming to pick up food, so I guess the take out is quite popular from there. I have the beggars pouches, which were very good. The boyfriend has the seafood rolls, and he really enjoyed them as well. For the meals, I had the softshell crabs, which were great! The boyfriend really liked them too. He couldn't decided between the Rad Naar or their other fish dish which came in a hot pot or something. He went with the Rad Naar and added the lobster to it. He was quite disappointed. It was a little bland, not much flavor. He wished he'd went with the other one. For dessert, he got the key lime pie. He said it was the best key lime pie he ever had! I had the creme brûlée and it was average, nothing special. Not sure if we would go back here, maybe for the appetizers and desserts. I would want to try some of the other dishes people mentioned on here. Might have to just have the take out then.

Got delivery from here on a gloomy, rainy Sunday and it was totally worth it. The drunken noodle is AMAZING and the seafood steamed dumplings were great. Delivery was fast too!!! Definitely ordering from them again!

Went for the red velvet cake and damn near fell in love. Will be back for an actual dinner.

So having lived in Northern CA almost entire life, and having spent a decent amount of time in Thailand, I was pretty sure that the most authentic, best tasting Thai food in the US would be found in or near San Francisco...WRONG. I found it in Philly! Myself and two of my girlfriends popped into Trio on a Saturday evening for dinner. Although we didn't have a reservation and they were busy, they squeezed us right in. Love the décor - low lighting, split level, and very clean and classy. The food blew my mind - I had pad thai. How good can pad thai be, you might be asking yourself? Answer: amazing. We also ordered some kind of basil chicken dish which was super tasty. But the real winner was the dessert - American dessert, nonetheless, but still amazing. I have never had such wonderful bread pudding. In fact, up until this dinner, I was kind of wishy washy on whether or not I even LIKED bread pudding. After Trio's bread pudding, there was no question in my mind! Another plus - it's BYO. Gotta love that! Great service, and dinner was also pretty reasonable price-wise. So if you find yourself in the Art Museum area, do yourself a favor and stop into Trio for some authentic Thai food. Don't forget to save room for dessert - you will not be disappointed.

(2)Elizabeth S.
(5)Melissa A.
Takeout via grubhub was fine. Shrimp Pad Thai: okay Sauteed Eggplant w/ Tofu: good Vegetable Samosas: alright A little overpriced, but the food wad good and the delivery took about 50 minutes. eh.
(3)Kate K.
Best Thai in the neighborhood!
(5)Chuck C.
(2)Paul N.

(3)Jake S.
Great quiet Thai place. It's a little unorthodox, being upstairs, requiring all the people and waiters to walk up and down that tiny staircase, but the food is delicious and the staff is attentive. Great place for a date.
(5)Kara M.

(5)Kristina K.

(4)Alicia M.
(5)Rebecca Z.

(4)Cat N.

(4)Sara L.
(3)Casey R.
