Treated my sister and her friend (both med students) to afternoon tea and it was lovely. They seem to seat all the afternoon tea parties by the open window overlooking Logan Square. The scones were warm and yummy. There were 5 different finger sandwiches and each was quite delicious. The clotted cream, lemon curd, and raspberry/strawberry jam were also great and the staff were happy to refill our (originally generous) servings. We each were too full and only sampled one dessert each and the staff kindly boxed up the rest to take home. Staff were attentive yet not bothersome, happy to refill our teapots with more hot water. There were two different birthday parties for younger girls flanking us and the staff seemed very accommodating and great at handling those groups as well. One lady behind us had chicken noodle soup that smelled amazing.

My favorite ambiance, a perfect martini, and pulled pork sliders. The perfect end to a perfect pamper me day. The slider barbecue sauce is clearly original, and oh so tasty. Costly, yes, but I'm worth it!

Disappointed. We went for afternoon tea (which is advertised in their website). However, the wait staff denied there was any tea service. Weird. Ended up having a capuccino each. The cappuccinos sucked big time. What a waste of money. Of course, the ambience was good. Place was clean (it better be...its the Four Seasons!). That gave the two stars.

The Swann does a good job with afternoon tea. They've updated the service recently. I like the more modern feel, although I miss the fresh flowers and the linens seemed pedestrian, but overall, it's an improved presentation. Still a comfortable, lovely room, and I usually get lucky with a prime seat overlooking the parkway. Tea selection is great, food is quite nice, but if I didn't know better, I'd swear the checkboard cookie was from a box. Also, there was no music ... Maybe because it wasnt the weekend? Regardless, my friends and I had a great time!

7 of us came here for a Sunday afternoon tea. When we were seated, it appeared they had set up 2 separate tables of 4 each. This seemed weird to us, and so we put the tables together ourselves which the staff seemed OK with. First off, we were asked to select a tea. They bring you a box with different flavors that you can smell, and then they bring you a pot for each person. We also got to select which afternoon tea we wanted, either with or without champagne. I chose the one without. The food was pretty good. The sandwiches seemed fresh, the scones with lemon curd and jam were delicious, and the pastries were also pretty good. What bothered me was that the staff never even checked in with us after they put the food and tea on the table. Not even a quick "is everything ok?". I found this to be quite weird at a place like the Four Seasons. At the moment, I didn't think of it much because we were having a good time. The bill came and gratuity was included. Great! There was also an additional 6% that was marked as "other" which we questioned. But again, it was a fun experience so we didn't bother asking about it. The day after I noticed that they had deducted much more off my bank account. The final amount would mean I had tipped them about 40%. Er, I don't think so. I called the Four Seasons and they said their bank holds an additional 20% as a default tip. And that the money would be put back into my account since our tip was included. Thought it was a weird story, and have never experienced this before. All in all, a fun experience if you're with a group of girls but I wouldn't go back there. I'd rather spend a bit more and go to Lacroix at the Rittenhouse Hotel.

Sooo... I wasn't really that impressed by the afternoon tea here. I feel like the whole reason you go to the Four Seasons is a superior experience and it just wasn't the perfect treat I was hoping for. The sandwich bread was a little stale and the egg salad definitely had been sitting out for a bit before it was served. The waiter was AWOL for most of the time, only showing up at the beginning and the end. My mother had to grab the waiter from the table next to our's to get another cocktail (and he was prompt, serving it to her w/in minutes, so that makes me think it was just our waiter as opposed to all the waiters there). All of their listed teas were flavored, but when we asked, they did have English Breakfast. That was better than flavored tea, but still not that awesome. We ran out of the "clotted" cream (I use quotations b/c that wasn't Devonshire clotted cream, that was unsweetened whipped cream; good, but not the same) and lemon curd early on, but since our waiter never showed up until the end, we didn't get a chance to have them refilled. Also, just to nitpick a little more and sound super matronly, but no tea cozy? My second cup of tea was so cold! For the record, the mushroom tea sandwiches were AWESOME. The scones were yum as well, especially w/ the cream and curd. We packed most of our desserts to go and they put it in a really lovely and sturdy bag. Also, the manager did stop by our table and we were able to get some waters from him (since our server was nowhere to be seen) and he was very nice. For these things, I'm bumping the rating up to 3 stars. However, in the grand scheme of things, if I'm going to the Four Seasons for a tea, I want to have a great experience. This was more like a great let-down. :-( Next time we have a tea, I think we'll check out The Rittenhouse Hotel's.

We popped into the Four Seasons on a whim while in the area on Saturday. I was dying for a hot spiked beverage and I figured the Four Seasons could comply. We were surprised to see dozens of kids in costumes getting ready to perform through the Swann Lounge. The bar was packed, but many of the tables and chairs were actually situated in the hall outside the lounge. A manager assured us that we could still get service there, so we grabbed a table and commenced people-watching. There wasn't a hot cocktail on the menu but our server said they could probably do a hot toddy. It ended up being delicious and exactly what I wanted. Of course, one drink turned into a few plus a light dinner of mussels with grilled bread and a spinach and goat cheese salad. Everything was great. I'm actually really looking forward to returning some time and trying their cheesesteak, which I thought I spotted on a previous visit and confirmed via the menu this time around. It's definitely on the pricey side but I'm sure it's damn tasty. If the Swann Lounge added happy hour, I'd probably become a regular.

Exceptional brunch options and service. A bit overwhelming at first, because you know you can't eat everything, but want to!! I indulged on the shrimp cocktail shooters, lamb, beef Wellington, mushrooms, and dessert. Dessert, especially the coconut rice pudding, was awesome! I liked the portions of everything they offered. It's not an overwhelming buffet at all. Our two table attendants took time to engage us and answer any questions we had, and made our experience fantastic. You HAVE to come hungry and not hungover. Spend 1.5-2 hours here at least and make the most of the $73 piece tag. It's totally worth it, as long as you have the right company. Awesome view of Logan Fountain as well.

Truffle burger, was recommended by my wife, which was recommended to by many. Was an amazing burger loved every single texture/bite. Wife ordered roasted chicken, "it was pretty good, smaller than I expected, but pretty good." Quote wife.

This review is intended for Afternoon Tea! What a great experience. Perfect for...and I know it sounds cheesy...getting together for a girl date, putting on cute dresses, and talking over tea. You have the choice of ordering two samplers...the only difference between the two is that one comes with a cocktail and the other does not. You order your own pot (i typically go with earl grey) and are presented with a tower of tea sandwiches, seasonal scones, and desserts. So much fun! Also ask your waiter for more sandwiches because it usually goes free of charge if you tell them which one is your favorite and how much you loved it ;)

If I could I would give six stars. great food. great service. the thanksgiving buffet is worthy of a bucket list

Having planned my trip to the East Coast well before the Kings miraculous run to the Stanley Cup my first order of business after dinner was finding a place back in the city where I could watch the game without all the hassles and annoyances of a sports bar (and its associated crowd) - a tall order anywhere, but one remedied by The Four Seasons, a hotel I'd certainly never choose to stay at, but featuring the Swann Lounge where a young bartender named Michael not only agreed to turn on the Kings/Coyotes game but also allowed me to hang out after the Lounge closed to finish watching the West Coast game as it went to overtime. Generally not one to sit in a bar and drink but happy with the comfortable environs and posh stools as the game went on an additional perk of my time at Swann Lounge was the beverage service and the fact that desserts from the highly praised Fountain (a space I'd visit two days later) were available until 11:00pm - a fact I took advantage of first with a subtle and smooth beverage called The Marigold featuring Absolut Mandarin Vodka and Sauvignon Blanc with Honey Basil Syrup and Grapefruit Juice followed by an order of Banana Fritters with Morello Cherry Gelee and English Toffee Bavarian Mousse, a trio of nearly liquid bananas housed inside a crunchy coating alongside rich semifreddo that, although good, certainly did not rival the beignets at Blackfish which cost far less. Decent desserts, great drinks, great service, and certainly not a traditional place to "watch the game" I will note that at $34 after tax and tip one certainly pays for the opportunity to visit Swann Lounge but when Dustin Penner scored the game winner and I walked back to my far less swanky hotel with a smile on my face the price seemed a veritable bargain

Very comfortable lounge with a small but really nice menu. Service was wonderful and attentive. Drinks menu was not extensive but had exactly what I wanted (Chimay) and they did have some interesting looking cocktails. The ginger chicken dumplings to start off with were great; mild with just the right amount of ginger. The tuna tartare was very very scrumptious though maybe a bit if a small portion. The main course we chose was the Atlantic salmon and boy oh boy it was great. I usually eat tuna or salmon when I go out and had both and wow what a great meal.

This review is for sunday brunch only. I think yelpers are confused (as was I) about 4S brunch not being at the Fountain restaurant. anyway, brunch is amazing. everything wonderfully prepared, which can be unusual for a buffet. my favorite was the seafood and the dessert. service was attentive but casual. despite the price tag and my diet, i will hesitate reserving this place only for special occasions.
(5)Christina L.
The brunch food is incredible. Pancakes made to order, tons of seafood, cheeses, you name it. There's even a selection of gluten-free pastries. I know it's the Four Seasons, but your super pricey brunch doesn't come with a single mimosa? That seems a bit much. Just be aware: they will deliver the drinks freely to your table, but you're paying for each one.

Afternoon tea review only. Super cutesy for a girls day outing / bridal or baby shower. Very reasonably priced for what you get, although my comparison is the SF Ritz-Carlton that charges $90+ per person for the same thing. The sandwiches and scones were delicious and surprisingly very filling. Good, although slightly slow service. FYI: If you have 6+ people, they will automatically charge you 21% gratuity (which is a little steep for afternoon tea, IMO).
(4)Lydia K.
it's located in the four seasons hotel so it better live up to the four seasons reputation, right? it does. i came here on a date for dessert (but they also serve lunch, afternoon tea, there's a bar too, sunday brunch buffet) and i LOVED the whole experience. He had apple pie (crust was flaky, filling was not mushy, not overly sweet, just enough spice) and coffee. i had a fruit tart (tart was delish) and chamomile tea (i asked for honey and they gave me this really cute mini-pot of french honey). the ambiance was really nice and it wasn't really crowded. i really appreciated the dessert time since the dinner time was such a dud.

Came with my mom for afternoon tea. Having gone to A Taste of Britain in Wayne, PA for many years, we wanted to try something new. The Four Seasons offers a tea for $30 that includes your choice of tea, six tiny tea sandwiches, two small scones + jam / lemon curd / clotted cream, and mini pastries. The Swann Lounge's atmosphere is pretty boring, not what you would expect for a place serving afternoon tea. While the restaurant was accommodating to my mother's needs (she is a vegetarian), almost everything about the experience was disappointing and was not what you would expect from the Four Seasons, nor anywhere else with that price point. The service was terribly slow and inattentive. The six very tiny sandwiches that were brought out were stale and topped with wilted garnishes. The egg salad sandwich had obviously been sitting out because the egg had congealed onto the stale bread. One of the servers / busboys told us that the chef likes to keep the sandwiches in the fridge (as in they are not made fresh to order), and our server did nothing when we told him we were disappointed by the lack of fresh sandwiches. Keeping sandwiches in the fridge is fine, as long as they still TASTE FRESH when you serve them!! The scones were decent, but fairly bland. The jam and lemon curd to go with the scones were too sweet and not flavorful enough either. The pastries were definitely not homemade, and were also stale. Lastly, the tea was not hot! No one came back to refill our tea pots with hot water either. $30 for afternoon tea with poor service and entirely stale / not homemade food is absurd. Skip the Four Seasons!

This review is for Afternoon Tea in the Swann Lounge at the Four Seasons Hotel. This tea used to be 5 star but after many years of coming here they have changed the format of the tea service and the change is definitely for the worse. Gone are the cute mismatched china sets, the old timey tea sets with cosy and strainer. Gone are the couches that made you feel like you were having tea in a comfortable parlor. Gone are the dainty cucumber sandwiches and the chocolate covered strawberries. This new tea is served at a restaurant table with plain white restaurant china and a modern teapot that contains its own strainer. Much more efficient but so lacking in charm! The tea sandwiches have been replaced by an assortment of "canapes" and the desserts no longer include those aforementioned chocolate covered strawberries that I loved. :( Moreover, the service here has gone so far downhill. At the end of our meal we were even given someone else's check! No longer will I be able to say that the Four Seasons has the best afternoon tea in the city. Next time we will try something different.

We went to the Swann for Sunday Brunch for my mother's birthday. Having heard how great it is I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately I was seriously let down. Our hostess seated us and starting pouring waters. The first glass she poured had something floating in it, mine was the fourth glass poured and there was something floating in mine as well. When I pointed out the two glasses she replaced just those two glasses as if somehow whatever it was had magically skipped the other two glasses. Whatever, things happen and it was probably just some dust. Our out of rotation drink orders left her a bit confused, once again not a big deal, it was our fault for not going in order. The crystal was spotted, but I'm probably just nit-picking about that. The bottom of our cups of coffee were filled with grounds, they seriously looked like an unstirred cup of instant. Individually those aren't big deals, combined they lead to a bad first impression, especially at a high end place that is supposed to have good service. The small dessert plate they brought out for my mom was the bright spot, with "happy birthday" scrolled in chocolate at the bottom. The variety of food is amazing everything from breakfast to anti-pasta to sushi to leg of lamb, but the quality was very average. I know it is hard to have a high quality buffet style meal but at $100 a head (with drinks) your expectation level has to be raised. Maybe they need to scale down the variety and kick up the quality. The only thing worth the price of admission were the shrimp and the crab cocktails and the dessert display and you would have to eat an awful lot of shrimp and rice pudding to make up for the price. I have been to places that cost a quarter as much and have had better experiences, with equal quality food and better service. If this was one of those regular restaurants, with a regular price tag, I would have been blow away but if you are going to have a $$$$ price tag you need to offer a **** experience and the Swann did not do that.

This was the single most fabulous brunch I have EVER been to. The selection, the quality, the preparations, the service, and the decor, were all top notch. So why 4 stars? The Price, I just can not in good conscience give it 1 more star after paying ~$70 per person before Champagne! If they offered the first glass complimentary it would have bumped it up to 5 stars. Regardless for special occasions brunch is a good way to keep that obnoxious relative from getting too blitz (especially if she is paying her own way). And in the end I do still highly recommend it here. BTW parking is another $25 so be warned.

We had dinner here on a Saturday night when we found ourselves looking for somewhere to eat. Without reservations to get into our first choices it actually turned into a nice relaxing experience sitting at what looks like the drink type tables near the entrance for a slow meal while kicking back. The next morning we deiced to give brunch a try before checking out. The brunch itself is fabulous. One of the best I have been to outside of the Ritz in Grand Cayman (which is on a plant of its own and if Yelp allowed reviews for that country I would need to give it six stars somehow). There was a great variety of food and all was top notch. The downside, however, was the price. Cayman is expensive, enough where you can feel it in your pocket, and here the brunch at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia, which is no where near the size and quality of what I would rate the absolute best I have ever been to, is actually more expensive. It would be an easy five stars if the price were more reasonable.

I brought a friend to brunch for her 50th birthday. We were greated warmly and seated at my request, at one of their best tables. The selection of food seems impressive, yet, its just ok. I had the shrimp which was large, yet tough. The crab claws were dry. The beef wellington was cool. I do believe I had to pay addional for the mamosas we had. I will not go back, while the price stays that high. However, we were there for close to two hours, which was lovely.

Been wanting to check out the, "With Love Beer Garden" they have hosted every Thursday in August. Although it was not raining, the event was moved inside so I got to check out the Swann Lounge. Great space, with a small bar, but lots of tables in the lounge area. The vibe was after upscale office happy hour. The space is very pretty, and would be a great spot for a first date. Drinks were on the expensive side, so we only stayed for one drink. It's in walking distance of my work, so I may be back....just wish I could have made one of their outdoor beer gardens....
(4)Matt K.
The Swann is a typical big city hotel bar. Elegant and beautiful decor, excellent service and well-made drinks. Not as inventive as many of the new breed of bars, but you aren't coming in here for the latest and greatest recipes, you're coming in here for the ambience and service. I didn't eat anything today, but my cocktail was perfect.
(4)Steve D.
Initially, we were impressed by the loveliness of the decor and the wonderful ambiance of the main dining area, where you could hear the romantic sound of the piano man. However, rather than being seated in the main room, which had many open tables, my girlfriend and I were led into the LAST open table in a very, very crowded side room, where the sound of the piano was completely drowned out by the clamor of other guests, many of whom were audibly intoxicated. Further, we were given restaurant week menus that were NOT the ones advertised at the time we made our reservations. These new menus had no vegetarian options! To Swann Lounge's credit, the staff were helpful and friendly (they let my gf order vegetarian) and the food was incredible.

I came here for one of those working-dinner type meetings and it was definitely the perfect choice. We sipped on our wine and enjoyed a very nice dinner. I got the salmon and my colleague got the cucumber soup and shrimp salad. Everything was delicious. I particularly liked the cheesey flavored crackers and fruit/nut mix that they served us at the beginning. I munched on it all throughout the meeting. The server was very friendly and attentive. The prices are of course on the pricey side, but that is to be expected at the Four Seasons. I highly recommend this place for any business meetings that are to be held over food and/or drinks. Classy atmosphere and great food.

I went here for restaurant week and really really wanted to love it. Sadly, though, it didn't quite meet the mark. It started off well--there was a nice wine pairing with the menu. The shiraz was quite nice and we all enjoyed it. My friends loved the olive bread that came (hey, the bread basket is important!). After that things started to slow down--literally. Service was a little bit longer then leisurely. Right around the time you go ready to say, what's taking so long, 1st course came. I had the pork belly with grilled peach. The pork belly was good, but super chewy (perhaps pork belly normally is this way) and the grilled peach was a little under grilled. My friends had a tomato and burrata bruschetta, which was nice but nothing to write home about. For dinner, we tried the halibut cheeks and a ziti with veal meatballs. Again, good but not exciting. Again, a long wait between courses. The best part of the meal was the cake with grilled pineapple. Almost a deconstructed pineapple upside down cake, I thought. Overall--not the service I expected or the level of excitement/creativity in the food that I'd look for in a place like this.
(2)Jen L.
Just amazing. I came here for just a drink at about 8pm on a Monday night. It was not crowded at all, but there were several tables occupied. I ordered the most expensive glass of wine I have ever ordered in my life - $22 for a glass of Cabernet Savignon and my companion ordered a scotch on the rocks. The server was super-friendly, and gave me a nice healthy pour of wine right in front of me. Magically, a man brought over a little platter with two dishes of snacky stuff - some nutty crunchy mix and cheesestick crackers, which I dug right into (even though I had just eaten a full dinner). Interestingly, there is a glass of $650 cognac offered for on the menu (which is limited at that time of day to drinks and bar food). When we asked about it (like, in a way that said who the hell would ever order this $650 item) the waitress brought the bottle over so we could check it out and let me smell the stuff. It kind of smelt like the stuff I used to steal from the way-back of my parent's liquor cabinet. Anyway...$48 including tip for two drinks.....but so worth it. I'll be back for Afternoon Tea soon.

Great drinks. They have a great young mixologist that does some handy work with the spirits. Their cheesesteak is probably the best in town - seriously. Great spot - one of my favorite bars in the country and I have been all over! It's my home when in Philly.

Smiles Galore!!! Everyone around us seemed to be obsessively smiling either way I was digging it. One look at the menu for orientation, then a sip of mimosa and I was ready to see for myself. The buffet was well organized and included a table only dedicated to more traditional dishes like waffles, eggs benedict, etc. After wanting to devour many things I saw, I picked a delicious and tender piece of pork, some greens with the house vinaggrete, several white anchovies (boquerones), a piece of wheat , among other small items. The squash soup was well condimented but lack body or thickness.( I added some cream and VOILA!!!) The desserts were well made and there was something for everyone. My favorite attribute of this restaurant without a doubt, is it's workers. If they ever let you clone them, do it!!!

Brunch at $75/pp should be truly memorable, but it wasn't. The food items were somewhere between ok (average) and mediocre (like beef wellington). There were no interesting flavors or innovative combinations. It reminded of a breakfast at an average hotel. Some foods were almost tasteless (poached eggs). The seating (soft couches and armchairs) were not good choices for dining either. It was hard to sit up and reach the tiny table. There are normal tables for large parties though. The service was very diner-like. Nothing special. Overall, I felt it was WAYYYYY overpriced. I would give it an average rating if it was $25/pp, but at $75 it's a roadside robbery.

A group of seven educated and civilized individuals decided to get dressed up, hats, gloves and all to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend. Although our time together was filled with joy and laughter, and we enjoyed each others company, the poor customer service of the Swann Lounge at the Four Seasons cast a dark cloud over the celebration. It couldn't have been the size of our party, as several waitstaff were attentively helping other tables around us. It couldn't have been our noise level, as we were no more quiet or loud then any of the other parties gathered. Perhaps as a group of African-Americans, dressed beautifully and well-spoken, the staff was overwhelmed, I cannot be sure. All the tables around us were provided with water immediately after seated, we were not provided with water until we asked for it after our tea service was delivered. Our Social tea orders were short one portion and when we questioned it we were met with an attitude. The waitstaff never came by to ask if we had everything we needed, actually it almost came across as if the waitstaff was trying to avoid us altogether. I was truly disappointed at the service of such a popular branded hotel associated with great customer service. I will never attend the tea there again, and I truly hope they recognized that their service was inadequate as we did not make a seen or a point to tell them, because we shouldn't have to.

I ate diner here in December and was not impressed. The fish was fried heavily in oil it made fiance queezie. I had to send my turkey burger back for not being well done. The staff were polite about dealing with us but at the same time did not pick up any ques we were unhappy. They did not do a good job reading us, at all.
(2)Lee S.
Elegant and wonderful just like anything at any Four Seasons Property in the world. The High Tea in the afternoon is such a treat as well.

Class all the way at this 4 Seasons Hotel Restaurant! The staff and management will go out of their way to make sure you're pleased. All of the surroundings are Elegant, just as you would expect in a 5 star restaurant. My Tuna Tar tare was perfectly seasoned. The French Onion Soup was tasty and the Gruyere Cheese was not overpowering. The Main Course was Cape May Scallops with Coconut Sticky Rice and Thinly sliced Vegetables Doused in a Lime And Lemon Juice. My Date Thoroughly enjoyed her Glazed Salmon over Haricot Verts and a Sweet Potato Carrot Mash. For Dessert, The Carrot Cake was Rich and Dense, And I had the Homemade Oreo Cookies and Cream / Bailey's Ice Cream. The Drinks Are Rather Pricey, with the Chilean Cabernet at $17/Glass, and my Dock Street IPA @ $7/Glass. This night a special event was being held. A joint venture Brew adventure between Dock Street Brewery and the 4 Seasons Hotel Staff (Swann Lounge Staff) Brewed Special Batches of Beer that was made with Real Truffle Oil. The Beer was Good, a tad too sweet for my taste. I Honestly couldn't taste the Truffles, however, it was worth the taste! The After work Crowd and Be kind of Loud & Stuffy, I suggest Dining in the front. Live music on a Baby Grand is featured daily. My Favorite spot is next to the elegant fireplace. Be Sure to try their house Cosmo @ 14/Glass! I would Valet Park at the Hotel for $30 in lieu of the "Park your Own" in an over crowded lot 2 blocks away for $27. If you have to be in Center City, The Swann Lounge is the Place to be! Enjoy! Chef Gary.

As a health-conscious vegetarian, I'm always appreciative when taken to a nice brunch, but often feel badly that I don't take full advantage of all of the decadent options that are traditionally served. This weekend we went to the Swann Lounge for Sunday Brunch, and it was a rare treat, as I was able to enjoy the robust selection of delicious, fresh, vegetarian-friendly options. The salad bar features several Mediterranean-inspired dishes (don't miss the goat cheese stuffed dates - they were amazing!) and the fresh fruit selection (including blackberries, raspberries, strawberries...) and cheeses were delicious. Although I try to keep things healthy, I never shy away from chocolate, and the peanut butter mousse cup was one of the best things I've tasted in a long time - as were the soft baked chocolate chip cookies. The music was lovely and made the day feel very special - all in all, a wonderful Sunday treat :).
