High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.

Our family is looking to move to the area soon so we stopped before brunch while house hunting. Everyone was friendly enough. The place is very clean and has a great vibe. Food was excellent and the coffee was good too. This is a spot I will be frequenting when we move to the area this summer.

Super friendly staff, solid coffee/espresso, and tasty sandwiches. This place is more for the meat-eating and vegetarian types (unless just popping in for coffee). Vegans do have options, they just may be limited depending on the current menu. Only advice? Tone down the Panera-esque modern jazz.

After two recent visits (one to each location) I've gotta say my trips here are done. Similar situations both times - off days (holiday, day after) where they have too few people working and/or are out of many menu items, the people that are working are not at all friendly or will even so much as speak, the food takes forever, etc. Just plain grumpy and I don't get it. Was hoping these were isolated events but seems to be a trend here. Their sandwiches are decent, but in this day and age in Philly you can find similar in so any places it's not worth the prices or lack of customer service here.

I have not been to the Passyunk Square neighborhood in awhile, and I can't believe what I have been missing! This restaurant is a gem - something I would definitely recommend for tea/coffee or lunch! I had a Chai latte! Which was delicious and perfectly hot! For lunch I enjoyed a salad which was huge - I could have easily made two meals out of it! My lunch date ordered the grilled Caprese which looked delicious as well! We lingered over lunch and it was nice not to feel rushed. The cafe definitely attracts the work from home types madly typing away on there I-devices. They have a lovely front window seat as well as outdoor seating that is just perfect for people watching. Despite being a little on the expensive side I would certainly try this place again! Increased prices come with up and coming neighborhoods!

Great location next to another favorite of mine, Doggie Style! Nice outdoor seating for people watching with cool modern orange metal chairs and little bistro tables. The baristas look at you dead-eyed and have zero personality but they're fast and polite so who cares, really? It IS Passayunk, after all, home of so many bearded Indie hipsters and their charmingly punk rock meets boho female counterparts, so it fits with the neighborhood vibe of trying to look effortlessly bored by everything mainstream. Best iced lattes in the neighborhood.

Plenty. This joint is the "order at the counter, and your food is brought to your table" type of place. I was expecting a plenty better experience here than I had this morning. Unfortunately, it was less than par. My friend ordered a 12 ounce coffee; I ordered a 16 ounce. We received our coffees in the same mugs (instead of the paper cups) for different prices. Interesting. I also read in the reviews that yummy fruity water is available at the counter. There was none today. The credit card payment system is "high-tech" and automatically asks you at the counter, before you've received your food, how much you want to tip. I chose 15% but later realized that there was no reason to tip so big for a lack of any sort of service at this establishment. The one girl that was working the counter dropped our food at our tables without asking if we needed anything else or if we wanted a warm-up of coffee (I expected that since I was forced to leave a tip, I would've received some sort of service here). Also, we were never again spoken to by the employees the rest of the morning. While dining, we noticed that there were lots of crumbs on the floor under the tables. Additionally, when we got up to drop off our dishes in the dish bucket -- it was overflowing and there were flies circulating!! Giving the benefit of the doubt, they must have been understaffed today. The positive: The food was really yummy, made to order, fresh, and satisfying! I had a smoked salmon and egg breakfast sandwich, and my friend had the brisket sandwich. Both great!! Sadly, I'm thinking I won't be returning.

This seemed like a really cozy place to stop and get some coffee before my hair appointment. I was totally charmed upon walking in and totally turned off as soon as I interacted with the barista. As other reviews have stated, this barista wasn't the least bit friendly. We had some questions about the menu and he provided some totally smug answers. Considering that our order was average, I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The rude staff isn't worth it. You can definitely do better elsewhere. I won't be returning.

Stopped in here yesterday with a friend to have breakfast. We both ordered the pancetta hash topped with eggs. My friend had ciabatta with hers (that's how it is designed) and I opted for multi-grain toast. I also asked that the green peppers be omitted. There was no problem with either of my requests, the server was friendly and obliging. My friend ordered tea, I had a latte, which was well-made. I also picked up what Plenty calls a French Puff, which tasted very much like cake donut batter baked in a muffin cup, then rolled in cinnamon sugar (if you've ever had one, they are delicious). It was light and tender and moist. The restaurant is very clean. I will definitely return.
(4)Perry H.
Definitely like the food here, it's always tasty, but after visiting some other spots in the area I'm not sure how frequently I'll be coming back to Plenty. The prices are a bit higher than other places and I can do without the free side of smug the staff dishes up. It's nice inside, the menu has something for everyone; I just know I can get more value for my money elsewhere.
(3)Michelle C.
I've been hitting up Plenty a bit more regularly and I'm a huge fan. Ever since they changed up the space a bit and added more tables, there is a cozy, cafe type of feel. There's wifi so you can get some work done, great coffee and delicious sandwiches. There are even breakfast options. My favorite sandwich remains the tasso ham but I also order the turkey and the tuna pretty often. Careful with the turkey if you're watching your waistline - they sneak mayo on there to keep it from being too dry, but the last time I was there, mayo wasn't listed as one of the ingredients even though it was on the sandwich. The guy who has been working the counter most often during my visits has always been super pleasant. The giant jug of complimentary water flavored with fruit is a really nice touch. I just love this place. Check it out if you haven't already!
(5)Mortimer S.
Plenty has been on the decline since changing ownership and becoming a mini-chain.The excellent Tasso Ham sandwich is effectively no longer on the menu, now called the "New Orleans." I made the mistake of ordering the "New Orleans" today not realizing that it was the same ham. Imagine putting really sweet fig jam on bread, then imagine adding sliced apple to that already sweet jam. Then imagine putting spicy ham on top of that. Is that going to taste good? No it will not. Just because you put something spicy and something sweet together doesn't mean they will automatically "balance" each other. I still ate it all but that's because I didn't eat anything at all today until 5 p.m. Sometimes sweet jams like that are fine with meat but it had better be a more neutral meat like turkey. There's nothing "New Orleans" about the sandwich. They took a perfectly good sandwich, ruined it, and made it more expensive. After tax it was $11.34 which I think is just too much. Wish I would have gone to Paesano's instead or gotten a slice of pizza, etc. Portions are smaller than they originally were, prices have been raised a couple times, the renovating they did doesn't look great, the baked goods are mediocre and the chairs at the tables are small, weird and uncomfortable. It's a tie between this place and Bodhi Coffee for the city's worst chairs chosen exclusively for design aesthetic rather than functionality. I've been here "plenty" of times over the past few years and now I think I've had enough.
(2)Zachary H.
The distance between good and great is the longest stretch of road in the restaurant world. Which makes it a shame Plenty gave up that ground when the Tasso Ham sandwich was unceremoniously dropped from its chalkboard, and is the reason behind the 1 star deduction. The ingredients that warmed your soul must've burned a peppery hole through Plenty's budget; the guys behind the counter said it was 86'd into the grave because people were turned off by the heat. Plenty remains a good spot to get a sandwich, but it lost what set it apart.
(4)Melissa D.
We were looking for a place that used fresh ingredients and we found it. I ordered the Palermo, which was a salad with baby kale, figs, almonds, sauteed veggies. My boyfriend ordered the New Orleans (smoked ham, sliced apples, fig jam, on baguette). He ordered his because it was listed on the menu board that it won 'Best of Philly 2014'.. and it most definitely lived up to that rating. Both items actually exceeded expectations. I am a vegetarian and I still thought his smoked Tasso ham sandwich smelled delicious. My salad had fresh, crisp greens and I loved the figs that came on it, they were truly the highlight of the plate. We plan on coming back in to try more of the items available and I think it is great that they had a pretty wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options and even offered substitutes of hummus or tapenade on a sandwich or two to make it vegan. They also have a full espresso bar along with an assortment of teas, cold or hot brewed from what I could tell. The atmosphere was artsy and hipster, it was very clean and pristine inside, and it was pretty cool that they offered juices made at a local juice bar in south Philly for sale in bottles along with hummus and other takeout items to grab if you are looking for a quick, healthy option. The only thing I didn't like was that the counter employee was also making the food and drinks, so he was running around hectically when we ordered. He did an amazing job multitasking but I felt bad for the guy running around. I'm sure it's hard on a weekday to have enough people on hand without overstaffing though. Overall, Plenty is a great, healthy location to stop by and try something new!
(5)Jennifer L.
I work from home and sometimes I need a little change of scenery, so I come to this tiny little place on East Passyunk Ave, They don't seem to mind if I set up my laptop and work for a few hours while drinking coffee and eating a little something. The only issue is that they're often out of bagels if you get there after 9. Also, there have been days in which it gets very cold in here. But that's okay, I'll deal with those things. During warmer months I like to bring my dog with me and sit at one of the outdoor tables. Inside, make sure to sit over by the far wall (I'm sitting inside Plenty now -- is that creepy?) because there are three sets of outlets so you can plug in your computer or phone. I live around the corner and I'm glad this place is here.
(5)Morgan F.
I'm unimpressed with this joint all around. The first time I wet in they had very little on their menu. It makes sense as it seems they're farm to table, however... The name is Plenty. The second time I went I ordered just a plain ham sandwich with spicy ground mustard and 2 fancy sodas and a bag of chips for 19 goddamn dollars. Literally ham mustard and bread. I was confused surely they meant $9. No? Ok. I don't think I'll be heading in anytime soon.
(3)Jeff F.
Went there for breakfast this morning.. Had pancetta hash.. Way too salty, small, and really not worth the price. People who worked there not the friendliest bunch.. Can you say attitude?? With all the other places on Passyunk, I'll be going elsewhere..
(1)Theresa A.
Plenty has quickly become one of our favorite weekly coffee/breakfast/lunch/dinner spots and we have a lot of great things to say about them! The staff are all polite although sometimes the wait time can exceed what most people would consider normal. There is a sign on the door that they are hiring so I imagine that that has something to do with it. Doesn't bother us that much. The food is fresh and consistent--which I should know since I think I have eaten 25+ Pesto Chicken Panino Sandwiches from there (including one tonight). We have also had the brisket, Pulled Pork, Salmon, Veggie, Korean Beef, Salads, and Pancakes. YUM! Although the food is more expensive than most "delis", the fact that they accept Level Up is a huge bonus as far as we are concerned. It's a BYOB so that helps and although we usually leave some type of tip it's not a typical sit down restaurant--more like a coffee shop/deli hybrid. Overall I would say it's well worth the $10 per sandwich when I consider that all of the ingredients are local, organic, etc. (or at least I think so...) I've ordered several lattes and mochas and have only a few notes to make. I like to drink flavored lattes which is not exactly an option here (vanilla specifically). I also occasionally like whipped cream as opposed to typical milk or cream which is also not available. :( Oh well. It's not the end of the world. The only "major" complaint that I have (which is certainly not major) is that their to-go cups don't have lids...can be dangerous since it's always fresh, hot brew. Overall I will give it 4 stars--even though I rave about it so much and go there so often that it's more like 4.5 (and I usually round up).
(4)M M.
The food and drinks are good, but the customer service leaves much to be desired! I've been three times, and each time there is only one person (that I can see) working. I understand feeling overwhelmed and understaffed, but a simple "sorry about the wait" would go a long way! Today the barista literally tossed my to-go cup lids at me, and not so much as a "thank you" or even a smile. There are about ten million cafes in Philadelphia like this, so I think next time I'll go to one with better service.
(2)Ace J.
Plenty is a fantastic spot for lunch! And I'm lucky enough to live only a few blocks away. Nice staff; chill spot (a bit hipster--but hey, it's Passyunk); and quick service. Their menu is pretty straight forward, which I like. Unlike other places that offer 100s of different food, they keep it limited, making every option uniquely delicious. I got the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket panino; winner was the brisket panino! The bread was super crunchy (in a good way) and the brisket was wonderfully tasty. They don't offer many sides, but make sure you get the Mac and Cheese because it's probably the best I've ever had. ALSO: They have LevelUp. Which automatically makes me like them more!

Appearances may be deceiving. The decor inside is very positive feeling and has a great environment. A place to hangout, have some coffee with no pressure to rush out. Positive experience from the door to the counter...until the cashier opened his mouth. Didn't catch his name but he seemed to be somewhat upset or pissed at the world for putting him behind this counter. Any questions asked were answered with an "Are you seriously asking that question?" tone. I guess asking if there were any flavored coffees was a direct insult on this coffee shop. 1 regular coffee and 1 hot chocolate took about 7-10 minutes, meanwhile, watched others come in and leave with their orders. It's too bad I couldn't contest the 2$ tip that was anything but deserved. Let's leave on a positive note. I'd give the bathrooms 4 stars. Moral of the story: there are tons of cafés that appreciate customer's business...food and decor aren't the only things that win over loyal customers...and looking at all the other reviews, we aren't alone. Learn a lesson

High quality, locally sourced food. Makes me happy they make sandwiches without the bread if you want. The tuna salad was elegant and delicious.

Since Plenty has changed owners, I figured it was time for a review update. Last night, I stopped in to Plenty for some dinner for my husband and I. I decided to go with two of the $10 platters-- each with two sides and a main course. Since I was feeling very indecisive, I tried a bunch of different things: Mains: Breaded baked tilapia- a little dry for my taste, but still ok Grilled chicken with chickpeas and black beans- winner of the two. Super flavorful and juicy. Love the bean and onion topping Sides: Swiss chard and rhubarb- ive been trying to eat more leafy greens lately. This side was really good, esp for someone who's never really had either of these vegetables Sauteed carrots- this side was the loser of the night. Not flavorful enough (plus, I'm accustomed to eating baby carrots not real carrots, so I was missing the sweetness of baby carrots) Roasted red potatoes- very tasty but not earth shattering-- I liked that they weren't covered in oil (like roasted potatoes can tend to be) Mashed red potatoes- by far the winner of the group-- super flavorful (and I'm sure the highest in fat content of the group, but we will ignore that) Portion wise, this is a great deal for us-- we each ate some of everything for dinner, plus I had leftovers for lunch today. The only thing I would suggest to Plenty is to make signs inside the display case to tell what each item is. I felt like I was annoying the crud out of the cashier who I had to ask what was in everything.

Tasso Ham Sandwich.... A friend recommended it when I mentioned I was headed there for lunch. The nice worker man who took my order recommended it... thanks to both of you for changing my life with that sandwich. Go there. Eat the Tasso. You won't regret it. Or I guess you can get something else - it all looked fantastic, but I can't yet comment on the life-changing-ness of the rest of the menu.

Between its artisanal market, and their impressive gourmet sandwiches and salads; Plenty makes for a perfect addition to the Passyunk Avenue. When I first walked in I couldn't help but make note of the one area that was packed with eclectic drinks, salads, yogurt parfaits, and then some! add in a fine mix of fresh baked cupcakes, honey from Bucks County, ice cream from Owowcow, farm fresh fruit, and more, and you have a cool sandwich shop where you can get some of your grocery shopping taken care of. The sandwiches and the well rounded salads are easily the main attraction. And while the sandwiches can be a bit small for the price, the quality ingredients and taste are nothing short of amazing. their meatballs are a full on mix of grass fed beef and natural pork, and its sandwich comes with tomato sauce and pecorino cheese. The ham for the ham n' cheese is hickory smoked in house, and comes topped with a house made honey mustard and gruyere cheese. add in varietes like pulled pork, whiskey chicken, and a mushroom panini; and I know you're getting hungry! And if your looking to stock up for things like Thanksgiving and sporting nights their catering packages and specialty menus makes for the perfect thing to provide that extra kick.
(4)Ravina D.
Good god I love this place. At this point I think I have eaten everything on the menu, and I have never been disappointed. I share the conviction with Liz Lemon that the sandwich is the perfect food, and this place only steels my resolve. The tuna sandwich is particularly special, I think, as is the Seoul, though paying $9 for what is in essence a banh mi kills me a little bit; luckily I'm resurrected by the deliciousness of its perfectly braised shortrib. Oh and everything in the case, though chronically underseasoned, is fabulous (even the stuff that should be boring at this point - like roasted beets - is somehow made a little bit surprising and special.)
(5)Lauren E.
Don't go here unless you have a lot of extra time on your hands. I went in a total of 5 times for coffee because it's on my walk to the subway. Overall the service is slow and very unenthusiastic. The last and final time I ever went there I was the only customer there and waited 13 minutes for an americano and a skinny latte. The first time was alright. The iced coffee tasked great and I thought it was a good price (at about $2.50). The next time, a week or so later, I went in the price was higher ($3.15 or so) I asked about the price difference and the cashier "grandfathered" me in at the "old price". I'm just thinking..."how long have you been open and the price is already increasing? sheesh!" The third and fourth times I went there I only got a drip coffee. It took a long time to cash out, and the coffee tasted old. Plus the cup/lid was leaky each time, spilling all over my hands and jacket every time I took a sip. Annoying! I already described my 5th experience. It was enough to make a person scream because it took so long. As I stood there waiting I stared at all the day-old-looking food in the case and was glad that I had never bothered to order anything. A tiny deli container of chicken salad for $8. Fergetit. It's a cute place, but I have nothing else good to say.

The high reviews on yelp raised my expectations, and unfortunately, I was let down. The food was fine, the place cute (empty on a Friday night), and service was friendly, but I have to say that the sandwiches we got were overpriced. I had the smoked salmon, and my husband a turkey panini. Though the sandwiches tasted fine; the disappointment was that I have made those same exact sandwiches at home before. There was just nothing special about them. The ingredients tasted good together, but not inventive nor anything special. One of the key pieces of a sandwich is the bread, and when I saw my plate come out, I was surprised. There were two sad looking pieces of bread that looked and tasted exactly like the pepperidge farm multigrain bread we get at the supermarket. The whole thing was just not worth the $9. BUT we didn't try any sides or coffee, and the place looks like a good place to sit and relax. The two stars are for its sandwiches. I would come back to try the coffee, but would highly recommend another place for "gourmet" or "artisanal" sandwiches.

Something has changed since the last time I ate here. I'm not a fan anymore. The staff has changed, is it under new management/ownership? The were very unfriendly.. I was scoffed at when asking for a high chair and told that they do not have them. What restaurant doesn't have a high chair? The Fountain has high chairs! The food was not nearly as tasty either. Won't be going back here anytime soon.

Plenty has succeeded in making sandwiches as pretentious as possible. The pork shoulder sandwich was made with quality ingredients, which is why it's a shame the chef isn't better than he is. If one is going to use heat, please do treat it in some sort of meaningful way. Plonking uncooked chilies into a sandwich (or anything else for that matter) is a can be a dangerous decision. Why not cook them down a bit, maybe even reduce them in something...wine, beer, lime/honey, just to suggest a few. 'Oh good, they offer veg as a side', I said to myself. Mi amore and myself both decided to try the asparagus, which wound up being $10. One could start a small asparagus farm for $10...needless to say that it's insanely overpriced. The overall atmosphere screams, 'LOOK AT HOW HIP I AM...I KNOW I'M HIP, LOOK LOOK LOOK, MY SANDWICH IS MORE POLITICALLY CORRECT THAN YOURS'. I'd be fine with substantially less hipness, and substantially better food. Check this place out only if you would like to look really cool as you waste $40 on pretentious faux-gourmet fare.

This place has the best hot sandwiches! I work right down the street and on days when I didn't have enough time to put together a lunch for myself, I take a one minute stroll down the street and always order the same thing. Because it's oh so delicious. I always order the 'Smoked Brisket Panino'...it's amazing. The people who work here are always very friendly to me. The atmosphere is rustic and creatively designed. I like it. And so far, have not been let down.

No doubt the owners will know exactly who wrote this review bc this is what I order 9 times out of 10. It's getting to where they just grab the hummus platter, if they are any available, when they see me walk in. This week I did opt for the egg white sandwich on multigrain, equally fresh and delicious, and it was big enough to share, but this is about the hummus platter... This is my favorite lunch at Plenty. Its vegetarian, its fresh, nutritional and satisfying. The platter consists of cucumber, artichoke, feta cheese, greek olive and roasted peppers. The chips come with the platter but I pass on them and stick to the fresh, crunchy cucumber, and its a fair trade for one of their delicious desserts which they also make and coffee afterward. Friends have stated they have the best porchetta sandwich. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, its all made with love. Wifi is available and a few outdoor tables.

Working at home gives you the opportunity to check all that Philadelphia has to offer ... With that said, Krista P and decided to check out Plenty last week for lunch. My lunch was perfect... Clearly they make things with love here. I had the Chicken Pesto Sandwich and it was amazeee. Very fresh bread, fresh ingredients. This is the type of place that I want to go to when I am looking for a quality sandwich with quality ingredients. artisan to be exact. Honestly I haven't spent a ton of time in this neighborhood, but I definitely need to come back to plenty... and the rest of the neighborhood too....

I just tried Plenty for the first time tonight and I was delighted! It's raining so I decided to get delivery. I'm a big fan of the grub hub app so I opened it up and noticed Plenty for the first time, the menu seemed fairly priced and very delicious with no delivery fee, perfect. My boyfriend and I got the ham/gruyere panini, and one of the special dinners for $10... Meatballs with a side of mac n cheese and Brussels sprouts. The person who delivered the food was nicer than most delivery people I've encountered, thanked us for our order and seemed genuine about it. A small but appreciated sentiment! Well, the food was neatly packaged, hot, and DELICIOUS. Wow, we were amazed by how delicious everything was, we literally sat right down and inhaled it without talking. Everything was amazing, particularly the Mac n cheese. As far as delivery food goes, Plenty was extremely impressive. I can't think of anything like it I've had around here. It reminds me a bit of Grocery in center city but so much cheaper and delivers! My neighborhood already had the best food and this just adds to our reputation. I can't wait to go and eat there again!
(5)Diana L.
I love this place. It's a great little cafe to pop in for brunch, coffee/tea, or takout. I love their Parfait, my boyfriend has had sandwiches and other things that have been good. We got take out for dinner that was pretty good and they have delicious baked items. I a frequent customer...for sure.
(4)Ethan T.
Plenty is actually short for Plenty o Awesome food and service. I still visit here when I'm in the area and still receive great tasting food. I thoroughly enjoy the taste of the sandwiches and they stay true to their Passyunk staple. No complaints here.
(5)Cormack G.
Yelp brought me here and spoke truthfully in every way. The atmosphere was very nice (I went on a Wednesday night) for a down to earth, comfortable sandwich spot. I was met by a big board with about 8 sandwich choices: 4 for hot, 4 for cold. I went with the BBQ Pulled Pork, which took about 7-10 minutes to prepare. They have a modest, but well chosen selection of drinks and snacks laid out around the store space, featuring locally produced ice cream, cupcakes and cookies baked on the premises, and a case of salads, soups, and other sides. After waiting the 10 minutes (which has been complained about in prior posts, but is totally worth it), my sandwich arrived and looked perfect. The pulled pork was un-be-lievable. It tasted fresh, well seasoned, and came in quantity. The bread it came on was delicious as well! Everyone I came into contact with who worked there seemed very nice and accommodating. I was very impressed with how low-key and comforting their atmosphere was. I was so happy with my sandwich that I ordered another for lunch the next day. I got a Tasso Ham to go, the BBQ Pulled Pork, a big bag of pop chips, and two drinks for less than $25. Now THAT'S a deal. I can't recommend this place enough based on the high quality of food, laid back atmosphere, and accommodating staff.

It isn't often that I find food that needs nothing. I try to objectively assume that there is always room for improvement. Plenty has shattered that belief and ruined me for all other sandwiches ever. When I say that I wept as I ate their Tasso Ham Panini, it is no exaggeration. It was by all means and without a doubt the best sandwich I've ever eaten. I didn't want it to end. It will be a dangerous life I lead from now on, what with having them right down the block. So I'm back for dinner and I have the Brisket Panini, and it is like having an out of body experience. I can hear no sounds while eating it. Nothing can penetrate the wave of bliss I'm feeling. I want everyone I know to try this, I want to shout it from the rooftops! PLENTY IS HERE, NEVER HAVE AN AVERAGE SANDWICH AGAIN!!!! Everything is locally sourced. The meats are cured, butchered and prepared in house. The sauces are all made in house. Unbelievable. After the Brisket, I can't understand for the life of me why anybody would waste their money at Geno's or Pat's for a boring old cheesesteak, when they can have the Holy Grail of beef and bread right here at Plenty. Thank you, for bringing your amazing culinary creations into my life.
(5)Marc M.
I went there and had a wonderful experience. The people are very friendly and the coffee is amazing. This will be my new coffee spot for sure.

So I had to do some laundry down the street and had some time to kill and I was hungry. I looked up some places and this was the winner according to Yelp and my friend said it was pretty good. It was empty inside so it gave me a chance to look around and take in the neat decor, the counter was the coolest!! After asking what the best selling sandwich I decided to go the chicken pesto. It was very good, the chicken was shredded which was nice to find in a sandwich. The only thing I didn't like about it was that there was no choice in bread, just white rolls. The bread was pretty good though! I also grabbed some cole slaw as I've been on a kick lately. It was just okay, kind of bland. They had a full coffee bar which I'm looking forward to going back and trying. Also, I noticed there was wifi. There were a few tables inside and outside and I will definitely be going back to study! As for the service, I give it 5 stars! I was lucky enough to meet the owner who was very helpful. He carried good conversation while ringing me out and was genuinely interested in what I had to say. It's always nice to go into a place that feels like you know the person and they actually care versus just want your business.
(3)Carlo D.
If you never had a roasted turkey sandwich before I suggest you go here and try it. No doubt will definitely be one of your new favorite sandwiches. The people are strange the friendly and the service is second to none I had a great time there and I'll be going back again and again.

We left before eating after a mouse ran across the floor!

I wanted a sandwich or salad around 7pm and my friend suggested that we should go grab one at "Plenty" in Passyunk. I didn't know much about this place so we parked our car in South Philly.. walked into a very welcoming gentleman (didn't get his name) who took our order. I ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich and it was very delicious! The bread was soft and the chicken was tender! They have a cute wooden table in the middle of the place and a stool seating near the window for people watching. Very fun! I'll be coming back in the future. PS: They also sell packaged salads, cheeses, teas, etc.

My father has a problem. A SANDWICH problem. Over a year ago, while my Dad was visiting me on a day trip, I took him for a walk all through Passyunk, my hood. We popped into Plenty, which was then a relatively new and awesome Food Joint that was doing beautiful prepared foods, sandwiches and paninis theat would knock your block off, and WowCow ice cream (which is of Little Baby's level). My Dad loves 2 things besides me: hot dogs (for christmas I got him a hot dog tasting "tour", buying up links from 4 different gourmet butchers throughout Philadelphia), and sandwiches. This, I do not understand and have learned not to think too hard about, but I WILL indulge his fetish.. He is not a foodie by any stretch, but when he listens to my own foodie geek suggestions, he ends up happy in the mouth AND the tummy, and gets really hyped about stuff he digs. So, something about the Tasso Ham panini on Plenty's menu caught his eye. I chose to drag him in here rather than any of the other Passyunk Ave, choices honestly because I had a crush on the guy working behind the counter. But my Dad, who isn't accustomed to paying $9 for a sandwich, went CRAZY for this goddamn ham. He raved about it like it had come to his house, knocked on his door, and gave him a massage. Exactly one week later when he traveled to my apt. from NY again, he asked if we could take a walk to get another sandwich. He then proceeded to extol the praises of his sandwich and of the shop in general to the guy I had goo goo eyes for. I timed his soliloquy; he yapped for 7 minutes nonstop, deterring customers behind him, explaining how "we don't have sandwich shops like this in NY; even the Jewish Delis with the sandwiches big as your head - they got NOTHIN' on this..." and I was mortified but entertained. I let go of the idea of EVER having a date with this guy, even though I HAD dropped off my number earlier like a smooth operator. Now, a year later, Plenty has changed ownership but has kept everything the same.....EXCEPT they've added a coffee bar and breakfast! M-Fing BREAKFAST, biotch!!!! It's a small and concise menu, b-fast sandwiches from $5-7, the high end boasting a smoked brisket w/ eggs. You heard me. La Colombe rounds it out, and after visiting to test this new addition the other day, I was reminded how awesome Plenty is. Last night, approaching the early evening, my Dad reminded me that he hadn't eaten all day. I knew he'd be dropping me off soon and I offered to sing by Hot Diggity. He said "Nah, nah. I'm ok..." but I felt bad and was determined to have him leaving Philadelphia satiated. I called up Plenty at 10 to 8, and after realizing I had 10 minutes to act, I asked if it would be ok if I ordered the Ham. They were totally cool and not bothered by my tardiness and when we swung through a I went in, the man working (so handsome - new crush here) remembered me and poo pooed my apologies for holing up their closing time. I briefly told him of my father's ham passion, and hurried out spewing 'thank you's' as I exited, triumphantly hoisting the sandwich like the Stanley Cup. .....AND that concludes this episode of "Sandwich Stories".

Lots of great sandwiches and friendly service!
(5)Ted S.
The meat they use on their sandwiches is outstanding, excessively fresh and seasoned perfectly, you have to try this place! Highly recommend Tasso ham panini, Meatball sandwich (pork and beef), and the Free range chicken-salad sandwich.
(5)Chris S.
I heard that the original owners moved which makes complete sense because now the food for the most part is over priced, they changed the bread, portions are small, and the sandwiches are not consistent. The old owners were great. New ones not so much.....
(2)Meg B.
Their sandwiches are consistently delicious, and I love their old-school coffee rewards system. The people who work here have to be the host, the barista, and in the kitchen which is definitely a lot for one person to handle! I have waited for a bit longer than I'd like before, but for my perfectly prepared latte and mouthwatering brisket sandwich it is well worth the wait. Management should give the workers the tools to serve customers a bit more efficiently. I come about once a week, great place to work on your laptop as well!
(4)PJ B.
Amazing. Glad there is a place close to me like this in South Philly and wish I stopped in sooner. The food reminds me of Tria. I love that this is a byob but is also like a market. I liked the interior and furniture - makes it a nice place to sit down to eat. Ate here friday and owners?? were very nice. I brought some beer over from the bottle shop close by and then ordered the beef brisket panini. I also tried the lentil salad and one of their cheeses, all excellent. Also, I thought the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. A great niche for a neighborhood that needs more outside of the box thinking. I put it in a similar category as Ultimo Coffee; both are places that I am very happy exist in South Philly.
(5)Risa M.
Delicious sandwiches! Coffee on point! Friendly staff and a great seat for people watching. What more can I say...
(5)Sabrina H.
I've been to Plenty on a number of occasions since they've opened. I've ordered take-out and dined in. Plenty is the epitome of a quaint, delicious, and fresh spot to grab a yummy meal! The chicken pesto sandwich is by far my favorite on the menu and not to be missed. The meatball sandwich is the fiancé's favorite! On my most recent visit, I had the opportunity to chat with the owner who is always friendly, accommodating, and seems to take great pride in his food and customer service. I am so excited they're expanding their offerings and can't wait to try all the new things on their menu. I can't recommend Plenty enough! Go get some now!
(5)Steve C.
This is an update to a previous review. They have really gone out of their way to respond to customer feedback and have improved some of the average options. Way to go! Guaranteed good lunch!!!
(4)Jill G.
I just love it when you go somewhere thinking *I just need to eat. I sorta don't care if it's good or not,* and then the place is really good. That's exactly what happened when we grabbed a late lunch here. It's a deli setup, but there's a large table to sit and eat. The employees were all super nice, and the food was so tasty. I got their tasso ham sandwich with Cajun mayo. I'm used to my heritage namesake being spuriously added to almost anything, but this mayo was h-o-t! My friends all loved their sandwiches and soups. The food is fresh, the cooks clearly care about their ingredients & customers, and the prices aren't that bad!
(4)David G.
A perfect place to grab a quick dinner, a bite to eat, or even just a few items to knock your homecooked dinner up a notch. Since it's opening, it's become part of our regular rotation. Hard to believe something open for such a short period of time has come to feel so essential. So far we've had the turkey, cous cous, cauliflower, gravlox, beet salad, and everything's been dynamite. The house-cured, organic and sustainable gravlox and the turkey, which somehow retains its moisture reheated, deserve special mention. Although the sandwiches are a tad on the pricey side, both the portabella panini and gravlox are worth every penny. That it's a beautifully renovated, sunny place with equally sunny service completes the package. 5 stars indeed.
(5)Johnny B.
We split the Whiskey Chicken sandwich and the Tasso Ham sandwich and loved every bite. We paired our sammies with a bag of Sweet Potato chips, a bottle of birch and a bottle of root beer. Plenty of whole range chicken and in house cured meats abound, along with prepared salads, local handmade ice-creams from wow cow and other deli delights in sight. What a quiet, healthy and reasonably priced sandwich shop. Thanks Plenty

If this is what pretentiousness tastes like, I'm all for it! One of the things I'm most critical of for any sandwich is the bread. The quality of bread Plenty uses for their sandwiches are superb. In fact I was talking to the owner about it, and he told me the story behind it. The bread is made right down the street by a Cambodian guy who was formerly a homeless immigrant in Paris. He was taken in by a Parisian baker out of kindness and learned to bake from him. After that, he worked for almost 20 years at high end Parisian hotels baking. Needless to say the experience and craftsmanship learned over the years is omnipresent in the bread. Ok, onto the sandwiches themselves. Thus far I've tried the Tasso Ham, Porchetta, and the beef brisket. All were superb in my opinion. The tasso ham is quite spicy, and quite delicious. For those complaining that it is too hot, they need to learn what they are ordering in the first place. Tasso Ham is creole in origin, so when I ordered this, I expected it to have some kick. And boy was I not disappointed! Fantastic. Onto the beef brisket. The brisket was done very well. The onions that top it are superb and contain lots of flavor. I'm not sure how they cook them, but they definitely stand out. The brisket itself was very good, not dry, and just the right amount of smoke flavor. And finally for the piece de resistance--the porchetta. By far and away my favorite sandwich. This sandwich really hits home to me. The pork was succulent and excellently seasoned. In fact, I think this sandwich rivals Tommy DiNic's. The fact that all of the meats are organic and locally grown is an added bonus. The prices good for what you get---quality ingredients and quality prepared food. Plenty will be seeing plenty of me over the next several months.
(5)Anthony P.
Me and my girlfriend stopped in for lunch one day and were very surprised by just how good the paninis are. Great addition to the neighborhood that we hope to visit again and again.
(4)Nicklaus A.
went to the passyunk location to pick up breakfast sandwiches last saturday - got the pancetta hash - f***er was good as s***, for real. nice price too. tasty bread, lovely balance of flavors. so good. definitely recommended.
(4)Sarah C.
Had a delicious salmon sandwich and Mexican coke (real sugar, not the high fructose found in the american version). The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh with high quality ingredients and they have some great local honey, canned goods and other treats for purchase. Plenty also offers their sandwiches at Ultimo nearby and the goat cheese and pepper sandwich is one of my favorites. Great find!
(4)Steve P.
I'm glad I live close to Plenty! Between Chickie's, Cosmi's and Paesano's I'm not quite sure where to go when I'm craving an amazing sandwich, but Plenty offers something a little different from all the rest. They offer an interesting twist on many traditional sandwiches that you'll just have to try for yourself. I've tried the Tasso ham, Pulled Pork, Tuna, Chicken Salad, Brussels Sprouts, and the Cauliflower at this point. All were extremely well prepared and delicious on numerous occasions. We usually eat there or pickup, so I can't speak to their delivery side, but if you find yourself on Passyunk, give it a try. It's also a great spot to grab a sandwich on the way to a game or a flight out of town.
(5)John G.
Just tried the new Matambre sandwich and was blown away! When I asked how the flank steak was so tender, I learned that it was prepared in an Argentinian style (pounded flat and roasted, rolled up with a hard boiled egg). Together the spinach, garlic, and red wine reduction complemented the steak perfectly. My father enjoyed a juicy pulled pork sandwich as well. An incredibly tasty and satisfying lunch!

Strolling down Passyunk Ave today, my boyfriend and I were browsing the neighborhood brunch spots to grab a bite to eat. Passing Plenty, we both remembered hearing good things so we decided to wait the 15 minutes until they opened at 12pm... Fast forward 25 minutes or so, and in we went. We were both craving breakfast-y food so we fixated on the breakfast menu. Plenty offers around 5 breakfast options, different variations of egg sandwiches and a greek yogurt. However when my boyfriend went to order, his first request to change the fried egg to scrambled (which is offered in other breakfast options) was responded with the cashier asking a fellow coworker "are we still doing no order modifications?" um okay... She then went to check with the cook if they were even serving the breakfast menu, they weren't. The cashier then pulled down the breakfast menu.. Us knowing that we wanted breakfast decided to go elsewhere but my boyfriend proceeded to pick up a chocolate bar and went to get a drink out of the beverage cooler to which the one coworker said to the other "I guess I'll wait all day to finish this transaction". Mind you, we were the only potential diners at Plenty during this entire "transaction". His grabbing of a drink took probably 25 seconds and our entire experience maybe 4 minutes. Not that it needs to be justified.. Their sandwiches may be good but I wouldn't know as I will never be returning. I'll stick to Paesano's where the sandwiches AND customer service are great.

You know I stopped by this place on a whim because I was in that neighborhood. I asked the owner's. a young couple how long they have been open. The attractive young woman 'jesse' I think her name was said only a few days. I had a sandwich which was heated up in the back and a side of escarole and got a few things to. This place is perfect for a person who likes fresh food daily. I practically live at the grocery store and shop for enough food for two days at a time. (I know it's a bit OCD but I don't give a shit) Food was great!!!!! Sooooooooooooooo. I decided to come home and write a review to find some douche wrote a review giving the place issues. "elevated deli food" and premade....nothing tasted pre-made to me. "My panini didn't come with anything" Christ almighty Dave, what the hell you want, fries, side salad. Spend an extra $1 and get a bag of chips cheap skate . LOLOLOL I have to laugh at people sometimes. Do people think before they write something about an establishment. Obviously the shop is new and I am sure opening a takeout/coffee/gourmet food shop is easy as cake...hmmmm investing, picking a menu, hiring, getting inspections, lets not forget the risk. Betcha Stephen Starr never has any kinks... I remember five years ago where PLENTY was, I could get a crack rock for goodness sake, now I can grab dinner to go on my way home and lunch for the next day. Crack is getting harder to find btw....buts that's another issue in itself. Bottom line... I go to a place for their food, their prices, their customer service and their convenience. Place gets my vote
(5)Jennifer M.
Very very yummy. The man owner is nice too. The bread for the sandwiches is amazing. I had a yellow fin tuna hoagie. It was amazing! So fresh and local tasting. If this place was close to me, I would be in trouble. Lol.
(4)Jared S.
Pretty much amazing. Great concept. Great location (though I haven't actually been there I just looked at the map). Great staff. Great product. I was looking for somewhere to get delivery from on a Saturday afternoon after a loooong night of celebration. I had heard about plenty some time ago from a friend who I don't consider to be particularly knowledgeable in food so I had put it on the back back burner of my mind. I came across the amazing reviews on yelp, saw they delivered and I was all set. Called them up and the woman on the phone was very patient explaining menu items and offers to me as well as very informed about their products. Me and a friend ended up going with one tasso ham panini, one pulled pork sandwich, a side of mac and cheese, a side of green beans and bacon, and a side of some kinda brussel sprout casserole. All were phenomenal. The tasso ham was so great. Everything was cooked to perfection and retained just the right amount of flavor and texture. The food is hearty and plentiful as the name would suggest, but you never really find yourself overwhelmed by grease or fat. It is used sparingly yet liberally at the same time. Paradoxical. Anyways, HIGHLY recommend. The prices are not cheap, but they're not astronomical either. I'll have to venture to the actual storefront soon to see the whole package, but from what I experienced this past Saturday I have no doubts that the entire operation is top notch.
(5)Cassidi B.
Soups are sooo good!! The people who work/own it are amazing!
(5)Jaime K.
Wow, this place has delicious take out. We ordered a pork and chicken salad sandwich. The ingredients were cooked to perfection with a lot of loving care. I still think about the sandwiches... Staff was incredibly friendly. Can't wait to return.
(5)Kevin W.
If you want a quality sandwhich without much hassle, this is the place. Think of it as gourmet take out with super friendly service.
(5)Charles C.
When I think about Plenty, the first word that comes to mind is quality. Everything I saw on the menu was free range, organic, and grass-fed. The sandwiches I've tried have all been delicious. The service is prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. I always look forward to my next visit. Plenty never disappoints.
(5)Kyle T.
Stopped here yesterday for lunch. I had the portabella panini, which was toasted and crispy to perfection. My lunchmate had some spicy meat panini which she enjoyed, though it was a bit spicier than she had anticipated. They had some amazing looking sides, such as that insanely tempting mashed potato plate, as well as salads, but I was good and only had a panini, which was exactly enough in my battle against overeating.
(4)Alison S.
Great for a quick, tasty lunch. Sat outside with the dog. $8 for a bean quesadilla and a bottle o water. Yum.
(4)T E.
The brisket panini was truly wonderful!
(5)Diana M.
Stopped in early on a Sunday after tearing down old wood paneling in the house we just got in the neighborhood and grabbed a sandwich here. This place was awesome. Fresh ingredients and the bread is nice and crispy. I will be coming back.
(5)Brooks A.
Food is very good and owners (Jessie and Adam) are awesome. Great vibe. Have been there 5 or 6 times now with different people and it is always good. It's the kind of food I would make at home, but it would take me most of the night to make it. They also have "grab-n-go" dinners for $10 or so that are very convenient after a long work day. Here's what I have tried and really liked: ham and gruyere panini, brisket panini, whiskey chicken, several soups, veg moussaka, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, mashed potatoes. If you're hungry, plan on spending about $15 for your meal.
(4)Tom E.
Mouth watering and satisfying fresh food with a smile. Making this place one of my favorite stops when I am out and about.
(5)Fran S.
We have frequented Plenty off and on since it opened, and I think Plenty has run its course for us. My meals here have always been ok, and sometimes really good. The sandwiches are fine, but South Philly is a sandwich mecca and it is not hard to fine a great one. It is the inconsistence in the food that has led us to opt out of any future deliveries or take out from Plenty. This evening I decided to satisfy my desire for rotisserie chicken, so I called Plenty and had one delivered along with red bliss mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Never ordered the chicken before, but my expectations were immediately dashed as soon as I lifted the foil from the bird. I was presented with a beige colored bird - not the beautiful golden brown color I was craving. (like the rotisserie chicken from the Amish at Reading Terminal) The flavor of Plenty's chicken was bland as the skin was the only part seasoned and that was chewy and inedible. The potatoes which are a favorite of mine also lacked flavor this time around and I actually felt sorry for the poor brussel sprouts. I think we have had Plenty of Plenty and I feel comfortable that we have given them a good try. I really want to like this place, the people are always so nice, but the food I have tried is truly nothing special and given the prices not worth going back for anymore.
(2)Kate H.
We enjoyed the gravlax and chicken salad sandwiches for a casual weeknight dinner. Both were served on a great baguette and were generously sized. We also appreciated the unusual selection of sodas. The menu was simple, but there were several options we both would have happily ordered. (The menu didn't list the onions in the chicken salad, so be forewarned if you're not a fan.) The space was a little underwhelming, although we liked the darker colors and family-style seating. It nevertheless felt too sparse (could perhaps use a divider to break up the space between the dining and counter areas). The woman working behind the counter was helpful and cheerful. We will definitely be back...actually, I could use a prepared dinner for takeout tomorrow....
(4)Alina K.
Love this place for delivery. Great food and amazing quality. biggest perk is that they deliver to your door. Once of the best Turkey Hoagies and Mac and Cheese dishes.
(4)Jenni R.
OMG. I thought places like Plenty only existed in my dreams.... Went here last night for the first time and the service was outstanding! We were offered multiple samples of various sides, just because! (or maybe I was drooling more than I noticed). Their MAC and CHEESE is too die for!! No, let me be more specific: It's literally the best mac and cheese I've ever had! (Good thing my mom has no idea what yelp is....blasphemy.) Oh, and just because the service is amazing, they actually went to the back to get us the hot, fresh batch of mac and cheese : ) Also had the cauliflower with pesto....amazing! Husband got shredded bbq pork which he said was delicious; I can only attest that the whipped sweet potatoes (w/madras curry) and the HOMEADE CORNBREAD were also five stars! It's obvious they've prepared their foods to go and specially constructed them to still have moisture when reheated....cornbread was moist and sweet and nothing was even close to dry after reheating. Bottom Line: We finished our meal feeling like we'd just eaten out at one of our favorite byos, except that we got way more food and only spent $20 for both of us! I am officially declaring myself a (soon to be) regular!

Read about it on Yelp. Tried it and it is great. Fabulous sandwiches, maybe a little pricey, but definitely worth it. I've had the tasso ham and cheese and the BBQ sandwich;both excellent.

This place is excellent! The owner is super sweet and has a great attitude. All smiles and very conversational. She knows her product and clientele very well. I just got two sandwiches, the whiskey chicken and ham and cheese, and chips. We were going on a trip that afternoon and just needed a quick bite before our flight left. The sandwiches were 8-9$ and REALLY, Really really good. The ham and cheese was toasted and the chicken was chilled. We loved both of them. I had a hard time deciding what to get because everything looked so fantastic.... I'll just have to go back again! The grab and go dinners look great and are a great option for a home cooked meal when you don't have time. You can tell Jessie and Adam have passion for great flavors and quality ingredients.... I appreciate that!

Outstanding. Great to have thoughtfully prepared delivery food that isn't greasy and loaded with carbs like the usual delivery options in this neighborhood.

Delicious Food. Very friendly service. We stopped in to grab some food to take home after hearing about the opening. After spending some time deciding what to eat, we opted to stay and eat by the window seats. Everyone was just fantastic and the vibe was just right. The Caesar salad dressing was among the best we've tasted! Drop in and enjoy the great tasting food!
