Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Stale and on the thicker side crust, barely any cheese(which was hard and cold), and virtually undetected sauce(it tasted like curry, ew.....it was supposed to be a plain large pizza(nothing complicated). The pizza came an hour after I ordered it. I had to call to find out where it was. With all the glowing reviews, I surely thought we'd be getting gooey, hot, thin, gigantically proportioned pizza. For those of you who compared this to New York pizza...no! I was in New York today, and the pizza kicked ass, as usual. I'd rather eat a hot pocket or cravings, and I don't enjoy either of those, but at least cravings is thin, and hot pockets have gooey cheese.

we love luigis so much. we order sometimes 3 times a week. leo is amazing. the pizzas, the pastas, the salads, all wonderful. the best thing there is the gelato...it is just unbelievable.
(5)Jennifer G.
Hands down the best pizza in Fairmount! Their Piccolo Blue is a scaled down party size thin crust that is absolutely AMAZEBALLS. I always get 1/2 Hawaiian 1/2 pepperoni when I'm having people over and everyone loves it. For pizza by the slice I usually go with the bbq chicken or margherita - both delicious. The salads are huge and their Chicken Parm sandwich is the BEST. Free samples too!
(5)Jenny P.
Pizza is excellent! best i have had so far in the city. there are still a few places i need to try. Very happy about this since there are few good pizza places in the city. Now the guy who answered the phones was a little crabby for no reason and i think they need to be a lot nicer to their customers.
(4)B. G.
My friend and I stopped in because he wanted to grab a quick slice. As an initial matter, my friend thought the slice was good. With that said, I will never step foot in this place again. The guy behind the counter was beyond unprofessional. He was a straight up asshole. It's one thing to have an abrupt ordering protocol (e.g. Jim's, Geno's, Lorenzo's, etc), but not making eye contact and barking "who wants something" as if your customers did something wrong by trying to order food... what a joke. The only reason this place doesn't have one star is because apparently the food was decent. But guess what? There is a plethora of good pizza places in Philadelphia. In the future, I will be getting my pizza exclusively from Fairmount Pizza (20th and Fairmount).
(2)Beth R.
Good casual pizzza place in the neighborhood. The seating area is small-ish, but when I called ahead they were happy to reserve the long side table for my group of 10. I had the margherita pizza, and it was tasty. We were really happy that they let you byob here as well.

I'm amazed that Luigi's has such mediocre reviews here. If you're like me, and just a plain, cheese pizza is your thing, Luigi's is top-notch. Easily one of the best in Philadelphia. People who say Luigi's is an average Philly pizza place haven't been to other pizza places -- try going across the street to "Famous Pete's" or "Pete's Famous" -- I forget which (Philadelphia has at least one place with each name). THAT is standard Philly pizza. And it is bad. Luigi's is not as good as, say, Osteria, no, but as far as I'm concerned, for takeout/delivery pizza, only Mama Palma's is better. For actual Italian food, or even mozzarella sticks and fries, it's not particularly great, but that's why we have Angelino's right around the corner.

I dig this place. I don't remember the last time I actually saw pizza samples outside of a market or wholesaler. There's a good amount of seating (but cramped), the bathroom was clean, there were TV(s), and the soda fountains are on the outside so I enjoyed the ambiance. So I got a small steak stromboli which for the price was a great value. It was bigger than I thought it would be and came out on a pan (since I dined in). Loved the taste and I think they even had real knives and forks. I hope I'm not confusing this place with another. I hate cutting stromboli with those flimsy plastic joints. I will say this... as much as I loved it... it upset my stomach later on. I don't know if it was something I ate earlier that didn't mesh or if it was an overdose of cheese (it was quite cheesy... QUITE!), I'm not gonna make that mistake again unless I get it all to go which I did take half of it home with me. I'd like to try this place again next time I'm in the area which isn't often. I have been meaning to get to art museum so I'll have to see.

Standard Philly Italian fare. Nothing to write home about. Not great not terrible. Pizza crust is tasty and chewy, sauce accompanied cheese but nothing stood out. The bread for the Cheese steak had the perfect lightly crusted long roll. The hot peppers had zero kick. Not much in the way of variety or options in the area. Definitley not a destination spot but not a bad option when in the area.
(3)Alexandra R.
pizza was great, but was a little salty- really good delivery time. mozzarella sticks were overly breaded, but were actually hot when delivered which is a plus.
(4)Diane I.
Holy cow. Not only is the pizza very good, but the girl behind the counter is the best at customer service!
(5)tim c.
Eh, a little consistency would be nice. I called to have a margherita pie with fresh garlic delivered one night and what showed up was a sad, undercooked pie with low-moisture (read: not FRESH) mozz, a couple of limp basil leaves scattered about and no garlic. This only happened on once (though I haven't ordered delivery since) and I've never had an issue when I stopped in for a slice, which I still do on occasion. Still a better bet than your other options around here.

After getting your culture on and doing your Rocky reenactment at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Luigi's is within easy walking distance. Being from HI, we don't have a lot of viable pizza options to compare this too, but this is probably the closest resemblance to pizza we'd had in Naples. The thin crust was flavorful, both crisp and a bit chewy. We tried it by the slice and picked them out by pointing to them so I'm not sure of their official names, but we enjoyed our pepperoni, basil & mozzarella, and roasted pepper & eggplant choices. We were only in Philly for the day, so I also don't know their cheesesteak sandwiches stack up, but I was very happy with my steak-onions-peppers-mushroom sandwich. Served on a large, crusty-yet-tender 10" roll, it would have been a meal in itself. We rounded off the meal with a canoli. Yum...
(4)Steve V.
This place is a quick neighborhood spot. Their pies are thin and greasy, but delicious. They sell slices as well and the inside is nice with plenty of seating and flat screen TVs. A large cheese pizza is $11 and can feed about 4 people. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
(3)Jonny P.
Great Caprese pizza. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone who wants a pizza... is that you?!
(4)Justin B.
Thought I'd hit up this place while waiting for my friends to get off work. I had been here before on a previous visit and it was pretty decent. This time, however, I was not a fan. I ordered 2 slices and a small salad. When I sat down, there were a lot of flies around the restaurant...and there wasn't a bug light. The salad was decent but the slices had been sitting there for a while - not the best tasting pizza I've had. Then, to make things worse, the power went out! All in all, I guess if you ordered a fresh pie, and took it home, you'd be ok. Not sure if I would, simply for the bug factor.
(1)Meg C.
I have been eating a lot of Luigi's lately. There is so much terrible pizza in Philly, that when I find one place that makes a decent slice, I eat it until I'm completely sick of it. So far most of their pizza has been okay, they use real (read: chewy) crust. Plus, they charge reasonable prices their delivery is extraordinarily fast. It has seriously never taken more than 20 minutes to get our food delivered and it is always fresh and hot. So the good things I've tried include the spinach and garlic pizza, both white and with sauce. Also, the godfather pizza is pretty great- pesto, prosciutto, tomato, ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan. Pizza is easily ruined by too much pesto, which can easily make it soggy, oily, and unpalatable. But the staff at Luigi's uses the perfect amount of the sauce. The less lovely selections have been the disappointing margherita pizza (usually my favorite flavor), the cheese wasn't as fresh as I had hoped and the flavors were a bit flat. Also, the caesar salad I ordered was so tragically overdressed I actually wiped off the leaves with a napkin. Remember: dressing on the side, people! I'll be sick of it in a few weeks, for sure, but it is okay for now.
(3)David D.
prices are bit expensive, but the pizza okay. nothing special in my opinion.
(3)Patrick M.
Live in fairmount and we have this pizza almost every friday. The sauce is great so we always get the margarita, so good! great service too!
(5)Michael S.
My uncle ordered a pie here once for my apt and it was amazing. Ive tried many, many times to replicate the goodness I got the first time from here but luigis has never pulled thru. The mediocre Pizza and cheesesteaks have never made me feen going here unless I am in a rush and want a really quick eat.
(2)Ali E.
I have to say, the crust has improved significantly in the months since my original review, as has the service. AND they play awesome 90s music on the sidewalk outside, which is a lovely addition. Definitely my go-to pizza place now, lactose intolerance be damned!
(4)Krystal A.
Best pizza in Fairmount and center city! Closest thing to NY style
(4)Jaime B.
I'm a big fan of Pizza Fresca! I grew up near their Jersey store and always went there. When they opened near my house in Philly, i was so happy. Their pizza is superb and they have so many different kinds to choose from. My personal favorite is their BBQ chicken pizza. They make a delicious Caesar salad too. The staff is super friendly and they make me keep coming back for their yummy foods and kind service.
(4)T B.
It's a traditional NY style pizza joint, nothing fancy, but their ingredients are top notch and the kitchen knows what it's doing. Margarita and Caprese pizza (as well as the plain cheese) are really really good. We just lunched at Mark Vetri's Osteria and had a very nice time, but Luigi's pizza is better at a fraction of the price. Finally -- best chicken parm sandwich ever. Chicken is hot, crispy and juicy inside, good cheese, good marinara, nice chewy Italian roll properly toasted. Everything we've had at Luigi's is good, but the chicken parm is really special.
(5)Erin F.
Luigi's sicilian style pie is my Fairmount pizza of choice, lately. Goodbye, round pie of yore! Of course, their regular round pie is a great basic pizza - I could use more sauce, personally, but that's where the sicilian style comes in handy. Their baked ziti pie is good, and my boyfriend likes their chicken steaks and calzones. Their cheese fries could use a little Whiz, but that's neither here nor there. They use real cheese, which is agreeable, but I prefer gross amounts of cheese sauce on my fries because I'm a sicko. Luigi's is only a few blocks from my house, making it our go-to for delivery and my go-to for an emergency dinner on my way home from work. I like a slice of the margherita pie. So much so that sometimes I'll eat it on my walk back. Eating pizza while walking! They also carry the Italian the lemon and orange sodas that I like. I would like to give Luigi's a 4.25 rating. When it comes to pizza, there are two categories - Tacconelli's and Other Pizza. Luigi's is basically near the top of my "Other Pizza" category. Dig it.
(4)Caroline C.
During a busy week at work, my office decided to try out Luigi's for lunch. Since then we have ordered many, many more times. I've tried their pizza, I've tried the baked pasta, I've tried their pesto pasta (not the greatest), I've tried their salads and I've tried their sandwiches. Most everything is fantastic (or at least very, very, very much better than Fairmount pizza). My 'panini' lacked a key characteristic that I associate with paninis: it was not grilled, nor were any of my coworkers' orders. The bread was great, the sandwich materials decent but definitely not what I expected. A sandwich by any other name is still a sandwich. Their rugala salad is simple but hits the spot. And you really can't go wrong with the tub of baked ziti they provide you (talk about a meal that keeps on giving, I ate this dish for days).
(4)Rachel W.
There a several things I love from Luigis: - I love the pizza (duh!) but what's great is the toppings are always plentiful, the sauce is great and the crust is always perfectly crisp. - I like the salads - they have one with egg and cheese and their house vinaigrette that's yummy (surprising for a pizza place) - When you call to place an order, you may be lucky enough to order from someone with the best Italian accent! This always makes me smile as he's so friendly and it just gets me in the Itallan food mood. - Lastly, if you get delivery, it's quick and always correct, great service.
(5)Jennifer D.
Luigi's is in my neighborhood and it is my go to a LOT OF THE TIME. They have everything. I always opt for the pizza by the slice but my husband likes the hoagies, sandwiches, and other options. They give you generous portions and the price is just awesome. I highly recommend this place! Keep in mind that they do not stay open really late.
(5)Wade G.
I love this place! Great staff, great atmosphere, great pizza. I have had pretty much every food offered here. The pizzas and salads are awesome. The other food on the menu have been average. Get the pizza!
(4)Katherine B.
Meh? I am trying to like this place, especially after building up to my husband about how much better east coast pizza is than west coast pizza, but Luigi's didn't really do it for me. It was a-ok, as pizza often is, but nothing to write home about. The sausage was ground and had a weird flavor. The cheese clumped together and was oily in kind of a bad way and not that oh-yes-yum way. On a side note, I am also somewhat perplexed by their marketing. The "fresca jester" freaks me out a little bit w/ that mask and the side of the box says "home cooking cost more... we know." Maybe I am just missing it but what does that mean? Are they saying to buy their pizza instead of cooking at home? Or their pizza costs more because it's home cooked? I'm not trying to be a nut - I am actually confused, but I guess that's neither here nor there.
(3)Ahsiya S.
I'm only writing b/c Yelp let me down on this one. 'The best pizza in the museum area' isn't saying much, and personally I prefer Colloseo. (and that's only about a 3.5 ). The appetizers we got were very mediocre (zucchini sticks, meh, jalapeno poppers were ok.) All the cheese fell off of the pizza and the toppings didn't really taste fresh. My takeaway: I'll keep my expectations low for Museum area reviews... great food certainly isn't this neighborhood's strong suit. Upside -they delivered 5 minutes earlier than promised.
(3)Stevie S.
I'm pretty impressed with the variety of pies that can be found here. Lots of veggie options too. The staff are very nice and in general it has a mom & pop sorta feel. Luigi's really has some delicious pizza and the outdoor seating is a bonus! A tad more expensive than some of the other neighborhood pizza spots but that's due to the higher quality
(4)John S.
We ordered from Luigi's this past weekend as they were recomended by Smith Playground as a delivery option. Although I had read good reviews here I wasn't sure what to expect. Delivery was set up for 12:45. They not only arrived on time, each of the 10 pizzas we ordered was hot and looked like it just came out of the oven. I have placed orders of this size with other places in the past and it semed as though the pizzas were cooked at different times. I am very, very picky with pizza as is most of my family and we were extremly pleased. We had a few plain and a few with toppings and the toppings were not only plentiful, but evenly dispersed and great tasting. I love the fact that they used fresh mushrooms, not the canned/brined mushrooms you get from most places. Great pies, if I lived closer they would definitly be my new go to spot.
(4)Corey B.
Luigi's is probably the best pizza in the Fairmount/Art Museum Area. I am a fan of pizza that sits out for hours and starts to dry up and curl until being re-animated in the oven. It's kind of like magic. It is pretty good though and is my favorite place to grab a slicey-poo in Fairmount. I cannot comment on anything else they have.
(4)Eric V.
I've been looking for a good pizza delivery place in the Fairmount area, and I think I finally found one! Their whole wheat pizza was great.. and delivery was extremely fast for Sunday lunch!
(4)Jerry J.
This is pretty much the best pizza I have ever had in Philly. I try to THINK of reasons to go to the art museum area as an excuse to grab a couple slices from Luigi's. My favorite is the bbq chicken pizza, but also love many of their other varieties including plain when i'm in a boring mood. They also usually have a good variety of vegetarian options which is important to some of my friends. I have never had anything other than pizza at Luigi's, but if pizza is what you want, this is the place!
(5)Brad K.
This is everything all the other reviewers were clamoring about. A neighbor told us we needed to order from here as it was good and they were the only pizza place in our neighborhood that delivers...so his plea was to order from here to keep them delivering. Well, there will not be a problem with that! The Sicilian pizza is huge (still huge because there is a sh#t ton of it still left), and it was terrific! The price was right, they were friendly on the phone, and the delivery was really fast. Maybe I am just lucky so far because all of the places we have tried have been really good. At this rate it could be a while before I get to bust out a real ball buster.
(4)Scott F.
Best pizza in fairmount area although that isn't saying a whole lot. I am going to get delivery one of these days. I like that they have free samples on the counter and overall their prices are very reasonable.
(4)Erik s.
Best pizza in the museum district hands down. Luigi's nyc style pizza beats little pete's, fairmount and city view pizza like they owe him money. Probably the top 2 places in philadelphia for pizza and the staff does not wish death upon you with their eyes like Lorezno's- in fact they are good people. The sauce has that bit of sweetness that this guy loves plus it is nyc thin crust which is the best kind of pizza ever. Their sicilian was very good too. My only complaint is their panini is non grilled glorified pizza dough but either way it tasted decent somehow.
(4)Jim K.
I love this place - a real Italian pizza shop. I especially love the Fresca Works pizza loaded with pepperoni, sausage, onions, peppers and mushrooms!
(5)Warren A.
The slice selection is pretty good, as is the pie menu. The 8" pie is a perfect size for one, if you want to wait. They have San Pellagrino Aranciata and Limonata (at $2.50 a pop!) which is a great (though expensive!) way to wash down a pie. The only thing better would be a cold one, but at least Bishops Collar is right next door. The non-pizza sides (olives... broccoli rabe, peppers... other stuff) can really round out the meal. It's the best pie/slice I've had in Philly. I know that's not saying much...
(4)Jeremy K.
Every pizza I try here is better than the last! This is definitely the best pizza in Fairmount and I no longer go anywhere else! You know it's gonna be good when the owner is speaking Italian and there are at least 15 different pies available by-the-slice. The most memorable must be the BBQ chicken pie, it is the perfect blend of bbq sauce and cheese. The standard pies are also great. I'm gonna keep trying new ones that's for sure!
(5)JEAN S.
I work a half block away from this place, and its not even the closest pizza place. They usually win my businessover Famous Pete's because they have so many varieties of slices ready to go at any given time, and some of them are loaded with veggies - green beans even! - so I don't feel too guilty about choosing pizza for lunch multiple times a week. All of the staff is really nice, the place is spotless, and they have a giant mountain of sample squares of pizza you can munch on while you decide.
(4)Joshua S.
Alright. Let me just start out by saying thank you to whoever is running the show over there at Luigi's. You are a sought after beacon of hope in an otherwise dismal pizza landscape in the Fairmount area. When I lived in Hawaii before moving here, I remember marveling to my friends about how I would shortly be devouring the most delicious pizza known to man all across the eastern seaboard while they would be stuck with nothing except Pizza Bob's on the North Shore (although Pizza Bob can dish out a hell of a basil and bay shrimp pie). I moved to Fairmount and was promptly brought to.... City View. No offense to the major player of the Fairmount area that rocks two locations, but the moment I tasted it I thought about leaving Philly forever just days after I moved here. The same for the soggy grease disc that Fairmount Pizza calls a pie. Then, one random night, I found myself in the living room of a few Bridgid's staffers and delivery came. It was a box full of awesome some might call a stromboli. Upon inquiry, I was informed of this unknown mecca that actually had good pizza in Fairmount. That place is you, Luigi's. And life has been good since we were first acquainted. Your stromboli (which garnered much debate over it's dong-likeness) was huge, cheap and delicious. There was not too much meat, dough or cheese. Just the right amount, without the orange river that runs out of most of these low rent shitty pizza joint johns. It all came together perfectly. I didn't eat it that night, only salivated and watched my hosts make quick work of it. The next day it was being delivered to my house. Then, the pizza. Jesus, it's good. Like the stromboli, it didn't overdue the ingredients (like the golf-ball sized chunks of chicken that roll off City View's dirtbag BBQ chicken pizza). I went simple. Classic. Pepperoni. perfectly crisped. I don't even know what to say. I housed the whole pie in about fifteen minutes. No regrets either. My stomach was distended, but I was in pizza heaven. I've ordered you about 9 times in these lat few weeks. I don't even care that I have eaten pizza so much in the last month. Bottom line. That shit is good! I'd give you five stars, but I've only had two things. Pepperoni pizza and stromboli. I finally got a menu and will be branching off for March into new territory. Maybe then I'll come back and hit you with the five star because you pretty much deserve it. I'm still pretty fresh to Philly, but I'm calling it my favorite pizza here thus far. Anyone who has another, please let me know. The staff is super polite. The delivery is fast. The food.... just writing the review made me order another pie. That should speak volumes in itself.
(4)Meredith K.
Finally, a palatable pizza joint in the Fairmount area. Their pizza has the golden color that pizza should have--a thousand times better than the disgusting white blob that Fairmount Pizza offers. Their sauce was good, a little sweet, a little salty, and well seasoned. The crust was a little too doughy for me, but much better than any other pizza place's in the area. You can tell that this place has a real pizza oven. The only other gripe I had was that the delivery took a little longer than it should have, but the pizza was piping hot and delicious when it got here, so I was happy.
(4)John H.
Best pizza in Fairmount area good pricing and def worth the money!! There ball park pizza not that bad just ask for sauce on it!
(5)Paul P.
I am moving out the Fairmount neighborhood and I am going to miss getting delivery from this place. Luigi's margarita pizza is amazing - it is better than the margarita pizza at Steven Star's Pizzeria Stella and it is only a quarter of the price.
(5)Max K.
pizza not good. sandwiches a little better. needs to improve if they want to succeed
(3)Scott B.
Wow. used to like this place, until their "delivery manager" called me a liar and told me that they have never delivered to my house and that they would not deliver to me now. Mapquesting it, I am 1 mile from the restaurant, definitely not out of their range. When I told him that I've had delivery from them at least 5 times, he said that it wasn't true and hung up on me. I called back and told them that I would never eat there again, and since I've never received a delivery from them I should dispute all my cc charges from them. In any case, it's a big city, with a lot of pizza, and now I'll go somewhere else.
(1)Lesley P.
Twice it was good and once the pizza was so bad it was a shock. It tasted like cardboard and I had enticed a friend to go with me because we were in a rush. I have not tried the other pizza joints in the neighb but I will in order to skip this one.
(2)John H.
I'm a fan of Luigi's from my time in Fairmount. The pizza is classic thin crust, a little greasy but not too bad. There is always variety. They are not that fast, but I usually order ahead. It is definitely better than the other pizza options in Fairmount, and the only good option for cheap food here besides Bishop's Collar.
(4)Jim Z.
The pizza is the pure grade on this place. I want to give a 4.5 but its a tough call for a 5 star. Luigi's is the classic nyc style thin crust pizza. If you look towards the pizza sauce in deciding a decent slice then Luigis is for you. It's sweet sauce that blends perfectly with the crispy cooked dough. The place is literally at the end of my block and I eat here all the time. Best pizza I have sampled in Philly. Agreed with the other viewers in the fact that the slice options are always plentiful.
(4)Harry S.
Considering what Fairmount had to offer before, Luigi's is a vast improvement. I love that they offer a great selection of slices (usually about 9-12 pies to choose from) and they'll heat them up for you (although I find they're more likely to come out lukewarm than piping hot). As for the flavor, these are as good as any pizza I've had in Philly. Thin crust with tasty toppings. If you want great pizza, you'll have to go to New Haven but if you want decent pizza, Fairmount finally has a spot.
(4)Shirley F.
Excellent service, cheap and delicious pizza, and fabulously mediocre spaghetti and meatballs (just the way I like it!). We went here for lunch before visiting East State Penitentiary. I highly recommend it for those looking to grab a quick and cheap bite before or after visiting ESP or the Art Museum. Be sure to visit Book Haven before you leave!
(5)Dave J.
Why is it so difficult to find decent pizza in the city of Philadelphia and Fairmount in particular? When this place opened I was optimistic and thought that it would surely outdo Pete's Famous. However, after several trials and variations I have determined that it's somehow worse than Pete's Famous. First off, the pizza is way too greasy and turns into a flimsy mush after a few seconds. Second, the crust is bland and dense. Third, there is way too much salt and/or garlic and the taste, even with a plain slice, hangs around in my mouth for hours. Fourth, if you get a slice of anything but plain there's a good chance that it's been sitting under the heat lamp for several hours. Only a Philadelphian, or possibly a New Jersian, could call this good pizza. I was really hoping that this place would have a decent slice, but it fails and I can't help but think that the other, more positive reviews for the restaurant, have been fooled by their own wishful thinking.

After having a few drinks, I decided to order from here because I wanted something new. By the time they delivered, I had myself a few more drinks and now was very excited about this pizza. The pizza was pretty good, sauce was delicious. It tasted like any other ordinary pizza. Pretty greasy though. At the time, I enjoyed it, but sober me probably would not have. Also ordered cheese fries which was super disappointing. I was expecting cheese whiz on my cheese fries but instead got mozzarella. Don't call them cheese fries if you're going to put mozzarella, call them mozzarella fries. All in all, it was a good place for the pizza

It's hard to believe that in all of my time living Fairmount, I've never ordered from Luigi's Pizza Fresca. Their stuffed broccoli rabe and sausage pizza immediately made its way to our favorite's list and earned Luigis a pretty high spot on our go-to delivery list. The stuffed pizzas only come in large but should probably considered a double-large. As the name would suggest, the toppings are stuffed between two crusts. The top crust seemed to be dusted with garlic, oil and parmesan cheese adding an extra magic to the pie. There was a great Italian flavor with each bite. Even the broccoli rabe tasted fresh and nicely seasoned. Despite two layers of crust and a large amount of fillings, it was still manageable to pick up or cut with a knife and fork. Unfortunately, I didn't love the eggplant parm sandwich which I also ordered and will be deducting a star from my review. It wasn't well breaded and the eggplant was just of ok quality. The sauce, cheese bread and eggplant didn't blend together as an eggplant parmesan sandwich should. Eggplant parm sandwiches are a dime a dozen in Philly, but the stuffed pizza was so amazing and unique that I won't let the sandwich get me down. Between the sandwiches and pizza, we had leftovers. The pizza tasted awesome hot & fresh, but then amazing cold out of the fridge. We ordered through Grubhub and the delivery came within about an hour on a Friday night. The prices were also reasonable. Luigi's Pizza Fresca definitely left its impression on me and I can't wait to order their stuffed pizza again.

I ordered the portobello mushroom panini and a tuna salad. I wasn't a fan of the bread, it was not toasted like a true panini. The vegetables were roasted nicely but the bread was too thick and there was too much of it. The tuna had too much mayo and after a few bites I didn't feel very well. I also wish they used mixed greens instead of iceberg lettuce in the salad. I ordered delivery - it took about 30min and the driver knew exactly where the pool was to meet me but I wasn't given any plastic ware!!! The food was in separates paper bags instead of delivered in a plastic bag which would have made it easier. Overall not impressed and will likely not eat any more than the few bites I had.

Ordered take out from here a few times now and we've been pretty happy with their pizzas. The pies are thin and offer a good crispiness, not thick and chewy like others. We also got the standard fried food fare: chicken tenders, onion rings, and fries. All were piping hot and hit the spot when we picked them up. Honestly, I think we've found our new pizza joint. Most recently, we ordered the "blue pizza" which is a massive 24"x24" pizza. HOLY CRAP. It's an insanely large pizza. The edge slices were crispy, but the ones in the middle were not as much. But we had to try it at least once! Def order this only if you're planning on feeding about a dozen people.

Great cheesesteak ! Bread is toasted just right and the meat takes the way you want a traditional cheesesteak to taste.

My previous Luigi's Pizza Fresca experience with their pizza and fries wasn't that great. But their chicken fingers were on point. So, the GF and I were in the mood for some bar bites and snacks, so decided to give them another try. Cheddar Jalapeno Poppers [$5.75] The cheddar jalapeno poppers seemed homemade and were nice - the breading was crispy and a cheddar cream cheese mixture was within. The marinara was a bit weak though, without much seasoning. Zucchini Sticks [$6.35] The zucchini fries were fresh and were also crisp. Buffalo Chicken Fingers [$7.45] The chicken fingers weren't overly breaded and were juicy. The accompanying fries weren't well seasoned, but were thin and crisp. Grilled Portobello Panini [$7.65] Portobello mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, caramelized onions The GF was in more of a vegetarian mood so went with the grilled portobello panini. The innards were decent - fresh mozz, roasted peppers, rich caramelized onions, and hearty mushrooms. However, the bread seemed like pizza dough and the sandwich as a whole could have been on the press a bit longer, if a press was even used. Cheese Fries [$3.45] I was in the mood to carbo-load, so went with some cheese fries as well. The fries were limp however and the mozzarella covering it didn't really do much to add to each bite. Overall, Luigi's Pizza Fresca has some good bar bites. Do try their chicken fingers, zucchini fries, and jalapeno poppers, but I'd skip their panini's.

Good pizza with good taste and fair price!

I've ordered delivery from Luigi's twice so far and, aside from one minor hiccup that they quickly worked to resolve, I've been happy with my experiences. The first time, I developed one of those cases of my eyes becoming way, way bigger than my stomach. I couldn't leave my apartment so my options were to either cook something (hahaha) or order delivery. I pulled up GrubHub, found this place in my neighborhood, and inputted my order. Half an hour later, my Italian hoagie, cheese fries and "small" pizza topped with bacon bits arrived. "Small" was a boldfaced lie. I even asked the delivery driver if he was sure it was a "small" pizza. He insisted that it was indeed a "small" pizza, but I assure you, fellow Yelpers, this pizza was "large." And there was only one of me to eat all of the above! No worries, I persevered. It all lasted a few days, too. More recently, I ordered in Saturday night with a friend. This time around, I chose a slice of plain pizza and, again, an Italian hoagie (what can I say, I'm Italian -- I really like hoagies named after my heritage.) My friend ordered an eggplant parm. When we brought our bag inside, we realized that the pizza slice was missing, so I called the restaurant to let them know. Twenty-five minutes later, the delivery driver came back, ran up to my door and let me know that there were THREE slices inside the box. !!! When I opened the box, two were plain Sicilian squares and one was a slice of white pizza. I shared one Sicilian with my friend, who was happily eating her parm platter at the time. She also enjoyed the pizza, as did I, and I appreciated the extra thought they put into it for what was a piece of the order that could easily and understandably be overlooked. That's some good service, and I'll be ordering again soon.

From their website: "For your convenience, Luigis Pizza Fresca offers Delivery Service within Center City for our Fairmount location." This is a LIE. I live in old city -- which, last I checked, is in Center City -- and they refused to deliver me my pizza. Inexcusable customer service.
(1)Joanna L.
While I am normally a big fan of Luigi's my most recent orders have been a disappointment. Perhaps whoever is making the pizza's is getting lazy, but this Sunday's order was a major letdown. I opened the box and it looked like a sloppy mess. The cheese was all over (pouring over the crust) and it was only sprinkled with a few pepperoni slices. Luigi's was my neighborhood go-to pizza joint... but it would seem time to start looking for another... :( Come on boys, step up your game!

Been here twice to pick up our pizza orders and am in love with their efficiency and variety on the menu of fresh pizza options. My favorite will always be Margharita wherever I go and it is done soo well here per their awesome tomato sauce topped with fresh basil and cheese. We ordered a pizza with 1/2 this and then 1/2 other various ingredients we were craving (bacon, mushroom, etc) and it was to die for. Our second time, we ordered 3 pizzas for dinner and our favorite 2 were the meat lovers and margharita. Unfortunately, the Godfather was lacking in the extra umph and pointed out that their crust isn't up to par with some other nyc style pizzas that we have -- that's just us though and we are hardcore tomato sauce lovers so that pizza had a lot going against it. Overall, such a cute place and awesome fast service. Pizza's were ready for us in 20-25 minutes! They also have ready made slices of lots of different delicious looking toppings.. Can't wait to stumble in one day and try those out .. maybe on a day when we don't come at peak time so parking isn't too tough.

This is one of the best pizza places in Fairmount. Very Italian with good pizza options, sandwiches, and dishes. This place is always packed with locals. I find their food very good and love that they do delivery Plus, you can order through your Yelp app! Love the convenience. My faves besides the pizza, would be the pork broccoli rabe sandwich and chicken parm dinner.
(4)Alex P.
One time I ordered from here and had diarrhea immediately following but I think that is because I did not have access to any clean drinking water. Anyway their food is really good. Its next to a gas station in case you need to have diarrhea.

Pretty good cheesesteak. Some of the pizza looked ok, but the rest looked as though it would not reheat well. Since they have a weird small little over in the front rather then the big oven to warm slices I choose against that option. I also asked when a plain pie would be done and the girl had no idea. It takes about 10 minutes for a pie sometimes a few minutes more depending on the oven hot spots. Humor me next time and go check. Maybe I'll try this place again.
(3)Kristina S.
My group stopped here to eat while waiting for our time slot for Terror Behind the Walls because they give out free samples of pizza which is awesome. I tried their white slice which was great. Since we came all the way to Philly from North Jersey we were all seriously craving cheesesteaks. When in Rome, right? I got mine with provolone, peppers and onions. Their bread is really soft but crispy at the same time and the steak is shredded. I feel like this is the way a cheesesteak should be. It was good but dry like it needed a little extra something. I tried my friend's cheesesteak because she got mushrooms instead and hers was significantly better than mine! Not sure why exactly but it wasn't dry at all and had more steak sauce and flavor to it. Also, I tried my other friends cheesesteak because he got bacon (and no cheese) on it and his was better than mine too! Really strange. When we all ordered our food and sat down our two friends who ordered first got their food in like 5 minutes. Even though we ordered right after they did, our meals took about 15 minutes (we all ordered the same thing too, cheesesteaks). So, it was kind of annoying that we had to sit there salivating while our friends ate. I think the time difference might explain why my 2 friends who ordered first had much better tasting cheesesteaks. Maybe they switched chefs between sandwiches? Maybe the steak they got was the juiciest pieces that were marinating in the sauce for the longest and ours was a new batch that didn't have the chance to marinate? I don't know man, I don't know.

My folks were in town and bright there wheels - car - with them. Since we usually roll the publci transpo, we stick with what delivers in the pizza department. But my folks suggested we take the ride and grab some better pizza we cannot usually get. After searching through reviews, lists, and what was not too far of a drive, I landed on Luigi's Pizza. I was excited to get what I expected to be better pizza. In the end, I was, however, disappointed. This was not because there pizza was bad. When your pizza place is reviewed highly and mentioned on some lists as one of the better spots in Philly, you need to bring it. Sorry Buigi's, but you lost this cheer leading competition. It was not brought. Not at all. It was about as good as our local spot, Colonial. Maybe slightly less. I gave Colonial 4 stars, and might have done the same here, but come on. You are too hyped up to only be as good as my local spot that gets so little love. You disappoint me!

Wow. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. For the third year in a row, I've ordered from Luigi's for a family party I throw. We order Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm, Sandwiches, Wings, Peppers / Mozzarella, etc. I feed over 30 people and have TONS of leftovers for under $350. It's unbelievable. The amount of compliments I got on the food was insane - from my 85 year old grandmother to my 2 year old son, EVERYBODY LOVES THIS FOOD. I'm grateful to have these wonderful people in our neighborhood. They are kind, friendly, reliable and reasonably priced. You simply can't find this quality anywhere else. Thank you so much Luigi's!!!!!!
(5)Steve L.
Dined in on a Friday night with a party of 5. We had antipasto (for two) which was plenty for 5! Nice presentation and very fresh... delicious. Next, we had spaghetti w/ meatballs (sauce was the highlight here... my wife spooned up every last bit). Finally - the 'Meat Stuff' stuffed pizza... very tasty... likely the best stuffed pizza I've had in Philly. Prices are very reasonable - probably a 4+ score except Nina (register/server/greeter) really won us over and made the experience a 5. We will definitely be back. BYOB friendly.
(5)Joseph W.
Pizza was pretty good. I had no complaints about it. I was actually surprised how good it was.
(4)Bob S.
Luigis is such a solid pizza joint with lots more than just pizza. And the best part is they have a good gluten free pizza offering. My wife gets a gluten free pizza (garden fresca) that is loaded with veggies (she says she doesn't even need to order a salad since it has so many veggies) and then I be my buffalo chicken pizza and we're both happy!
(5)Vivian T.
My go to pizza joint now ! I just finally tried this spot tonight. Love the perfectly cooked pizza and the amount of cheese to sauce to dough. $15 for a large pizza for delivery ... Plus tip it was $20. I was their last delivery and they were so kind to keep the kitchen open for me even after close hours. Great food , kind staff and delivery guy.
(5)Ron G.
Online ordered a pie and it was hear in 20 minutes, hot, and very good. The pizza even tasted good the next morning! It's miles ahead of any chain, but costs at least twice as much. Still worth it in my opinion. If you just have to have some good quality, good ingredient, spot-hitting pizza on the fast and delivery, please order here. It's not vetri though you snobs, don't ask for caramelized pistachio and chevre.
(4)Brittany R.
Just ordered from there for the first time two weeks ago and found myself ordering from there again. I got the chicken cheesesteak both times, I love it! I have tried so many places around Fairmount for a good chicken cheesesteak and this spot is perfect (for what I like/ chopped steak). French Fries were great as well, quick delivery!
(4)Magne S.
I'm from NJ so I've had my fair share of AMAZING pizza from the best and I'd have to say this hits home. This is the only place I get pizza from. I think their best pizza is their chicken finger pie with ranch sauce on top (you will not regret ordering this). Make sure to ask for it to be hot, only complaint I can say I have when I take out. GO!
(5)leigh s.
I've got to say, this is the BEST pizza I've ever had. In or out of philly, this restaurant is top notch as far as quality of ingredients goes. Having just ordered from a random pizza place (1:30 AM, slim pickins'), I find myself disappointed, thinking of the perfect pizza, and wondering why I'd waste time anywhere except Luigi's. 10/10 would recommend to any friend. IN FACT - I'd rather order luigis early, knowing I'll want a slice at 2 am. Assuming I'll eat it cold, it's still head and shoulders above the rest. Now THATS a compliment. Lots of love to the luigis crew, keep up the excellent work!
(5)Jennifer D.
I have tried Luigi's a couple of times now and was not impressed. The pasta sauce was too salty, the burger was way overdone and served on floppy, soggy flat bread. The regular fries were ok, but the cheese fries were not very good. Both times I had problems with delivery -- the first time they forgot our drinks and had to go back for them after taking over an hour to deliver the food in the first place; and the second time I asked for a delayed delivery because I was out, and it showed up twenty minutes before I had requested.
(2)Victoria Z.
Love this place! So conveniently close to where I live (across the street). I've only had their pizza and it never disappoints. It's pricier than other pizza places in the Fairmount neighborhood but it's worth it. The pizza here is delicious!
(5)Lou P.
One of the top pizza places in Philly. They have tons of delicious specialty slice combos. I can't wait to try out the rest of the menu!
(5)Alison P.
Pizza Fresca is my favorite pizza spot. I grew up going to the one in Marlton and are so happy it is now in our new neighborhood. I think their Godfather slice is my favorite. It has a pesto sauce, fresh slice tomatoes, and Ricotta cheese on it. I also love the chicken finger and ranch slice. Everything I've ever eaten here is so good! They're also so friendly.
(5)Chuck H.
I grew up in NY and Northern NJ and then moved to Maine for 10 years. Thank god for this place. Its nice to have real pizza again/. I am chowing down on their Chicken Parm pizza right now... Gotta go before it gets cold ;)
(4)Stephen R.
Great menu with a lot of variety. Their pizzas are very well-made and above-average. This is my go-to for delivery pizza in the city. Try the specialty pizzas - they have a lot of them and I haven't had one that I have not liked. I have not tried any of the sandwiches yet, but they all look good (many varieties of paninis). My wife and I's favorite pizza by far is the Blue Pizza. Don't order the Blue for 2 people though because it can feed an army. Get the Piccolo Blue instead, which is still bigger than a regular pie, but not ridiculous. The crust on the Blue is incredible. They cook it in a steel pan, which really gives the crust a crispy thin but also chewy texture that can't be beat. We always order a Blue when friends are over to impress them and it always works. Luigi's is what it is. An above-average gas oven neighborhood delivery pizza place. That doesn't earn 5 stars, because as long as places like Pizzeria Vetri or Osteria are making coal/wood-fired pies you'll always compare them with the standard delivery places. But Luigi's is the best I've found in Philly for a delivery pizza place. Another plus is that when you call the phone operators always speak clear English. It's never hard to understand them and get your order in without mistakes.
(4)Nazee Z.
THE BEST margarita pizza I've ever had. Tons of basil and the sauce is delicious. The crust is fluffy and soft, and just amazing. My friend got a buffalo chicken cheese steak with bacon on ti and that too was amazing! The meat was freshly cut chicken (not that gross thin sliced frozen stuff) and was tender and juicy. Another one of my friends got a cesar wrap which was the same situation, freshly cut chicken and delicious flavors. I highly recommend Luigi's, my only qualm is that they close so early! 11 o'clock on weekend :(
(5)Matt D.
Let me get the snobby, "We used to live in New Haven and they have the best pizza...ever," part of the review out of the way. Moving on to Luigi's, they are one of our neighborhood pizza haunts within pick-up and delivery range. The meatlovers and godfather are both stellar pies, and they do not skimp on toppings. The only thing they do skimp on is sauce, so if you like your pizza saucy, ask for a little extra sauce. They're pretty good about it. I find both the bbq and the buffalo chicken pies to be dry and lacking in taste, so I recommend skipping those. The service is surprisingly friendly, and the wait times are very reasonable, even during peak dinner or sport event hours. I'd put them at a solid 3.5 stars, but their website coupon for 15% off bumps this one up to 4 star territory. It's probably the best pizza in Fairmount, and if you print the coupon, it's one of the most affordable too.
(4)Margarita T.
$7/8 for a bland, limp cheesesteak is no bueno. Give me some grease for flavor, don't overcook the meat, salt and pepper the steak, find better rolls, ... anything, just do anything for a better sandwich. The marinara sauce was dumped out of can, and maybe had bits of herb added for aesthetic pleasure. C'mon, y'all, do it right or don't do it at all.
(2)Mike T.
In the mean streets of Northwest Philly, delivery options are scarce. Naturally, I turned to Yelp in search of delivery places that 1) deliver wings and 2) do not care about the lives/safety/general welfare of their delivery drivers. Luigi's fits this bill. So, I placed an order for wings and the driver risked his life to deliver them to me. I ate them. They were okay, I guess.
(3)Hannah B.
Their Blue Pizza is probably the best pizza I've had in the city. Their slices are great, their regular pizza is great. Basically, their food in general is awesome and the staff is really nice. HIGHLY recommended.
(5)Erin T.
Cheese fries were soggy and rubbery. Looked like they deep fried the French fries 2 hours before they melted cheap American cheese on them in the microwave. Straight nasty. Pizza was cold when it arrived and wings were not very meaty. I will not get take out from here again.
(1)Kate D.
Fellas what's going on over there? We heart your buffalo chicken cheesesteak but recently it's been lacking in (2) important ingredients: Blue Cheese & Hot Sauce. Twice we've ordered BCCS & you've been out of Blue Cheese & our BCCS looks like it was sprinkled with Tabasco Sauce (Yuck!). We love you & your delish food but recently not so much. Get it together!!
(3)Matthew L.
My wife was craving a symbolic with pineapple and mushrooms. Even though this wasn't on the menu, they made one and it was everything she wanted it to be. Hooray for Luigi's.
(5)kate d.
I have had Luigi's food a couple times now, once delivery and once pickup and after giving it two chances I have to say I see no reason to eat here. Last night my husband and I got a cheesesteak and penne a la vodka to go. The cheesesteak was so bland and flavorless and the bread was chewy and bland as well. I would almost have wished it were greasier because at least then there may have been some flavor. the fries it came with were soggy and flavorless as well. The penne vodka was not a vodka sauce at all and tasted and looked more like a melted velveeta sauce. It tasted nothing like what I expected, the sauce was really thick and cheesy/creamy in a suspect way, the pasta was overdone. The one time I got delivery I ordered their special Blue pizza because I love pan pizzas. It was really kind of soggy and greasy when it arrived (after not very long, I will give them that). The crust was not what I would expect from a good pan pizza. The pizza looks good for picking up a slice in store, but overall I think there are better places in the neighborhood with similar menus. Pete's cheesesteak was much better and Fairmount pizza was far more flavorful.
(1)Di P.
This is definitely the pizza place I prefer now that I've relocated to the Art Museum! The staff is friendly and pretty quick with your order which is great because we usually grab pizza when we're in a rush. The pizza isn't super oily and the pizza dough itself is a little bit sweet and tasty on it's own. I've also had the Freschissima salad which had grilled artichokes and string beans and sauteed shrimp (among other things) which I devoured. It's probably more like a 3 and half star when it comes to the food but I really like the people who work here-- they seem to know a lot of people in the neighborhood. Also, I love that there is outdoor seating on the warm days. Solid.
(4)Joanne T.
Love, love, love their margharita pizza. We took three starving kids here after a fun outing and surprisingly they enjoyed it. I thought they would ask for pepperoni or plain cheese but they devoured this. I love that they have olive oil on the table for dipping the crusts. I think this is probably better than nomads. sorry guys.
(5)Chanthara L.
My go to place for food in Fairmount!!! I love their pizzas and the godfather is the best I've ever eaten!! Nothing compares!! Have introduced it to several ppl and they have never gone back to another kind of pizza. The godfather rocks!! Have tried a few others and have not been disappointed ever. Great service, friendly faces and a very pro kid atmosphere!!
(5)Jon H.
Great pizza restaurant with helpful staff and good gluten free pizza! For an outsider to Philly, the cheesesteaks were great too, albeit not GF.
(5)Laura F.
My favorite place ever. Great staff, family owned italian place. Literally the best margarita pizza i've ever had. Lived in fairmount for 3 years, and had their margarita pizza most fridays...it will never get old. I dont know what it is about their sauce, it's just perfectly sweet and the right amount. YUM. Also great cheesesteak and fries. Delicious sicilian and tomato pie. ALSO they have THE BEST thick crust square pizza. to die for. I can't emphasize enough how much we love Luigi's Pizza fresca.
(5)Therese M.
Solid choice if you're looking to grab some slices to go. I was craving pizza for dinner and popped in last week. They had a variety of pizzas to choose from and I ultimately went with one slice each of Hawaiian and BBQ chicken. Both slices were huge and just what I wanted. I have a feeling I'll be stopping in / ordering from here more often.
(3)Laura D.
Ate lunch here before Made in America fest (I also live several blocks away but hadn't tried it before). A bit more upscale than Fairmount Pizza or Pete's Pizza, with a wide variety of slices, salads and sandwiches. I had one of the specials - arugala salad with grilled shrimp, mozz, artichokes and green beans. The ingredients were great and it had plenty o' shrimp (~15), but it was a little too drenched in oil for my tastes. Looked like all of their grilled veggies were shimmering in too much oil, so the beans and artichokes left little puddles throughout the salad. Other than that, it was quite tasty! I'm giving them 4 stars despite the oil (a pet peeve of mine since I try to eat healthy) since the pizza looked great, service was quick and friendly, and it was worth staying and eating there. Definitely a solid option for pizza/quite bites near the art museum.
(4)Dennis L.
This is a nice little place. They even have their own bottled soda. I had the orange/valencia soda and it was actually really good. They heat up the pizza in like a micro oven though, instead of a big clay one. That threw me off a little. The pizza wasn't too bad. I had a slice of plain (what all pizza places should be judged on) and a slice of thin crust with pizza sauce, basil, and garlic (not sure what that is called). The thin crust was pretty good, I enjoyed it, I was sad that the Margarita was sold out. Of course a fresh pie was brought out RIGHT when I got my food. The plain wasn't too bad. It definitely wasn't the greatest I had, but this is definitely a go to spot for me with the limited pizza places near by in the Fairmount area.
(4)Tara R.
The pizza here is good and dependable, I've never had a bad pie. Things can get a little soggy if you ask for extra cheese but it really isn't a necessary request. Delicious!
(4)Zack D.
Great pizza, so convenient, the service is great, I definitely will go back whenever I'm in the area!
(5)Adam A.
Great pizza and wings. For the pizza, my suggestion is to go with the Old Fashion, no cheese but it is delicious. The wings always have a good amount of meat on the bone. Only reason for 4 stars is that I can't speak to the rest of the menu because I never order anything else!
(4)Rafael G.
Luigi's is good for a quick slice or a pie to go. The restaurant itself is small and has only a few tables inside and a few outside. All I've tried is the cheese pizza and the veggie hoagie, but both were very good. Our food was ready ready incredibly fast, which welcome because I was so hungry that I was starting to get bitchy. I don't think they serve any alcohol.
(4)Ad S.
One star for the gluten free pizza. Yeah, I know gluten free is tough for pizza but this was inedible. The crust was like rubber, my jaw was sore by the second slice. I've had lots of GF bread, some of it nasty like this pizza and some of it quite good, and much closer to real bread. Luigi's, you can do better. For the rest of the food at Luigi's, including the regular pizza, I'd give 3 stars - very average. My family and I prefer Angelino's in the neighborhood.
(1)Christian F.
First, it is a go to spot for me with my kids. They love the pizza and that is really all that matters. Personally, I think it is good, but I am not going to tell people to go out of their way to get pizza there. They have good food options other than pizza and prices are reasonable. It is kept clean, but outside seating could be better and someone who works there always seems to be smoking right by the tables. Hard when you have little kids you don't want to be subjected to that. The BLUE Pizza is amazing that I will say and great for parties. Sandwiches are touch and go. Love the cheese steak wrap. Had the new Broccoli Rabe and Roast Pork with Sharp Provolone. Cheese was too thick and not melted. Pork and Broccoli were not Toni Luke's. You have to take the good with the bad. For me it is very convenient and a great spot for the kids or a quick bite when I am on the run.
(3)Sandy L.
We ate in at Luigi's today and had a good experience. It was a great alternative to eating lunch at the cafeteria in the Art Museum - literally one block away from the Perelman Building. They had a variety of slices that looked appetizing, but we opted to order a whole pizza. We tried their Garden Fresca, which was quite tasty with lots of yummy veggies. I also liked their crispy crust, although it was just a little greasy. The place had a good atmosphere and I was pretty impressed by the cleanliness of the restroom - always a good sign! We would definitely come back.
(4)Sharon U.
This pizza is certainly good for the Fairmount area, but objectively speaking it's not that great. Their crust is unimpressive and the toppings are okay. I think they charge way too much for a large pizza, which generally rings me up between $16-17 every time. I usually get pepperoni and garlic. The good thing about splurging for garlic is that they give you lots of chopped garlic, which I think is really cool (not to mention delicious). Their hours are not particularly expansive, but you can order until at least 9:30. Everyone I've dealt with there has been nice and helpful. In sum, I don't love ordering from Luigi's, but it is the lesser of the Fairmount evils.* *I've never tried Angelino's because it is never open on Sunday, which is always when I want pizza.
(3)Nicole L.
Came here for a girlfriend's bday and I was fairly underwhelmed by the whole experience. Definitely a very casual sit-down by-the-slice place with sticky tables and raucous folks hanging out by the windows. The pizza was incredibly tasteless and lukewarm even after waiting for ten minutes to have it warmed up in their oven. On the flip side, the staff were incredibly nice about offering us table service after explaining that they didn't normally do that, plus the girl that helped us out was incredibly attentive to what we needed. Overall, not sure if this is a place that I'll return to.

The best pizza in Fairmount. Their selection of pizza by the slice (under $3 a slice) has toppings more reminiscent of Italy than a typical American pizza place. I would have gone 5 stars, but their cheesesteaks aren't that great.

Our first food experience in Philly and I was beyond impressed. My kids both had sausage pizza and for such a simple order out was amazing. I had a cheese steak with bacon and my husband had a cheese steak wrap. Prices were great and servings were more than enough

This place is absolutely wonderful! My boyfriend and I really wanted pizza at 10am so we decided to use yelp to find a good place near Temple (everything else we have tried has been mediocre). The website told us delivery was not available to our location, but we tried anyway. Luigi's did not hesitate to take our order. We ordered cheese fries, mozzarella sticks and our favorite PIZZA. It was delicious and very satisfying. The pizza seemed to have a garlic buttery taste over the top which we thought was different. The pizza is light on sauce, so for my next time placing an order I will ask for extra. I will definitely be a returning customer, In hopes that they will still make the delivery to templetown.

Hands down, BEST PIZZA in Philly! Closest place I can find that reminds me of new york pies. It also MUST be said that the ingredients are so FRESH, sauce is YUM, and service is great. I've gotten delivery plenty of times and we've also eaten in.

My boyfriend and I have tried many pizza places within the fairmount and rittenhouse neighborhoods. Luigis is simply the best! In addition to their pizza, everything else that we have tried on their menu have been delicious too. Luigis is an all around great place for Italian food and pizza!

Awesome slices and other Italian goodies in the heart of Fairmount! I've had several slices there, my favorite being bacon and roasted peppers. The pizza itself is super thin and crispy, how a pizza should be. I also like to get the roast pork and broccoli rabe sandwich with provolone, awesome! Overall a great spot to stop and get a quick slice, pick up a pizza for dinner or pig out on an awesome sandwich!

My girlfriends and I ordered dinner from Luigi's one weeknight last week. They ordered a portabella mushroom pizza with whole wheat crust and a salad, and I went with a grilled chicken Caesar salad with tomatoes and dressing on the side. Everything arrived as requested, with extra pieces of grilled garlic bread for everyone. Delivery was very fast. If I find out that they deliver to my neighborhood I'd definitely give them a try again.

I've been meaning to review this place forever. I live in the area and this is definitely my go-to place. Their pizza selection is very different from other places in the area. Very thin crust and interesting toppings. Also, when I order online they're super quick and always get the order correct. Things to get here: Pizza with ham/prosciutto and the Ricotta cheese. Pineapple and Ham pizza. Things to avoid: Buffalo Chicken Pizza (it is a little dry and not enough chicken)

Luigi's really disappointed me last night. I got a Margarita pizza and it barely had any cheese on it, actually we had to re-bake it and add more cheese when we came home and realized the disaster it was. It only had like three leaves of basil scattered around and i specifically said I wanted to add kalamata olives to it and they added the cheap canned black olives. We also ordered a caprese salad and the mozzarella was tasteless not to mention that it was not a caprese but a salad with lettuce. Apparently they don't know what a caprese salad is. I don't know what happened with this place.

I've had pizza form here about 4 times in about a year and I must say its one of, if not the best, pizza joints in Philly. I mean come on ! Chicken parm pizza !? Are you f'n kidding me ? It's 2 of my favorites in one bite. The chicken is actually fresh and hand breaded ... Not that disgusting process chicken finger garbage. I highly recommend the follow : BBQ chicken pizza, pepperoni or as mentioned the chicken parm. I wouldn't steer you wrong. I've never had the chance to eat-in but this place seems like it would be a cool place to hang out enjoy some grub and catch a flyers game. To go is fast and never had any mix ups, I'm usually in and out in 5 minutes. Luigi's now takes the crown over Mix (near 22nd and chestnut)

I'm pretty amped that there's good, quick pizza anywhere...especially when it's in cozy little Fairmount. Offering a crust almost as thin as any haughty New York sit-down-and-enjoy-joint and letting you take a slice at a time, Luigis is a winner. Luigi's bakes a multitude of flavors - buffalo chicken with fresh meat, a white pizza done right with bits of crispy garlic, and a whole wheat option for your health conscious 70 year old father (or grandfather), everyone is sure to be happy. And if you're not quite full enough after a slice (or two) of pizza, grab some fresh foccaccia. It's like thick pizza dough, and is served hot and wonderful. If you're kind and smile nicely, no one will care that you've eaten half of the cold pizza samples either. Promise. Oh, and for the health freaks, I guess they offer salads...but if you do get one, get a slice of homemade bread. Serious business.

Just had an amazing deluxe cheesesteak here which dare I say, was better than Pats or Genos. Great staff and quick service.

Damn good sauce. I love that they have slices of old fashioned pizza with no cheese because who needs anything else when the sauce and crust are that fantastic? The crust tastes like olive oil. Really good olive oil. They also have fantastic salads with grilled an marinated veggies. The bread that comes with it is like crack it tastes so good. The cons: Their pasta sauces are swimming with oil. 8 out of 10 times they screw up an order for a sandwich without cheese. So irritating. We order this sandwich all the time, know my husband is allergic to cheese, we ask while ordering, at the end of the order, and when picking up and they nearly always get it wrong.

Great pizza selections. Good prices. Best cannolis in Philadelphia! I love everything but come here more so for the cannolis!

Love this place. It's my neighborhood go-to. Great pies and good selection of slices to choose from. Delicious.

After waiting a full hour for our gluten free pizza to arrive (which cost over 24 dollars), a small barely warm pizza was delivered to our house. We were never told that the pizza would only come in one size, nor that the cost for the small pizza would be far more than a normal ( I order GF often). Never ordering from them again.

Best pizza in Fairmount. Favorites are the spinach pizza, margherita pizza, and chicken parm pizza (though there could be a bit more sauce on the chicken parm). And the owner is super nice and funny.

this place is still as good as ever. i find i stick to pizza (new fave - mushroom and artichoke, square pizza, it's not sicilian and it is a thinner, chewier (in a good way) crust). the salads are also really good. the paninis are a little to greasy for me. the pastas are decent as well. prices are very reasonable as well.

Their pizza is very good, and the service is quick. Like most stores around here, it's a little claustrophobic.

This is my go to pizza place. All the pizza is amazing and the delivery is fast. Whenever we have friends or family visiting from out of town, we make sure we order pizza at least once from Luigi's. We normally go with a basic pepperoni, but also love the fresca works and other specialities. You really can't go wrong with any of it.
