Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Love this place. Great food and great drinks. Only issues with it, it can be very loud during the dinner rush and the menu need consolidation, there are far too many choices. Overall I will go here every time I'm in the mood for Mexican.

Yum! drinks are great. Guacamole is made in front of you which i thought was different.
(3)Rina G.
Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia :)
(5)Mark D.
Awesome!!! The only issue with this place is that it is small. The prices are great. Since I've gone to this place, I have not been to a Taco Bell since. I go there once a month and it seems to get better everytime I go.

Came with a friend for a quick lunch before heading to Upstate, NY THEEEEE.... Nacho & Salsa are amazing!!! I can eat two bowls of salsa!! 4.99 Lunch Burrito HUGEEE 10 inch! Mango Margarita was strong n perfect.. had me tipsy!!!! PRICE IS GREAT!!!!
(5)Crys J.
The food is average....you can get better if you go downtown or to Manayunk....I give it two stars and an extra star for the 2.99 margaritas
(3)Ann B.
The server was friendly, the food was good & the company was excellent. We give it 4 sombreo's. Now if my husband would stop talking like speedy gonzalez I would be good.
(4)Yolanda B.
This is by far THE WORST Mexican food I have every had in my life. Never ever ever ever eat here!! Servers are lazy, inattentive and slow as hell! My husband and I were shocked that it was so crowded. Drinks were awesome though.
(1)Mary S.
I love this restaurant. I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. Food is fresh, hot and delicious! The margaritas are even better! This is great for a night out if you want to grab dinner and drinks. It's clean and the staff is very friend each and every time. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.
(5)Josh S.
Great mexican food at a great price ! The margaritas knock your socks off and the service cant be better. The tortilla chips and salsa are worth the trip alone. My advice for newbies : go during lunch hours 12pm-2pm and get the super lunch special. 5.99 gets you a lunch platter and most likely dinner to re-heat later that night. Been coming here for years and never had a bad experience. 3/1/12 edit : Should have been 5 stars all along... The last trip there once again proves it.
(5)Jennifer T.
Great lunch spot and great lunch specials! The service was good and the food was delicious. They serve some really traditional food and flavors and I loved their assortment of hot sauces on the table. Will definitely go back to try other stuff. **caution** portions are pretty BIG
(4)Plum D.
I go to Las Margaritas often. I am really sorry this place has been discovered. There has been a corresponding drop in quality. And it is noisy because it is popular and real Philadelphians eat there. Nevertheless, the food tastes really good, the portions are large, the drinks are generous. I order the chiles rellenos. And the fried ice cream. And a mango margarita. And I leave happy.
(4)Kev G.
Food is subpar. The prices are way high. chips were stale and salsa was flavorless. The chicken soup had a weird taste to it the steak Tacos were under filled for 2 and over filled for the other. 1 had no cilantro and 1 had no onion. Refried beans were good though. Waste of $19.
(1)Allen I.
I love this Jalisco style mexican food. I think Las Margaritas represents it well. I love the fact it's clean inside and fun and vibrant looking. The drinks are great, but the food is better. I love the chicken burritos/2 chicken quesadillas. Get the combo 10.99. Slammin', I can be full of that meal twice possibly three x. I'd recommend taking your girlfriend or dad or someone who hasn't had real mexican here, it's more appealing to the general American tastebuds.
(5)Jr F.
I didn't think this place was THAT bad. It was a little pricey, but at the same time, we're in Philadelphia. How authentic are we going to get? I like the margaritas and the ambiance was nice, but the food was subpar. I could get better Mexican out of a food truck. Stay away.
(2)Kenesha W.
I went for my birthday. The drinks are great. Chips and salsa they put on every table nice and fresh. Food is good, so many options. Portion size was Wow! Service was pretty quick. I definitely will be returning.
(4)Amy K.
If you are looking for good Mexican food, you wont find it here. Margaritas are pretty good, and the jumbo lump crab burrito and fish tacos are decent, but definitely not a place you take someone really craving authentic Mexican food.
(3)Hayden B.
Pretty good mexican restaurant. This definitley isn't Taco Bell. Pros: -Great atmosphere and friendly staff. - The food and drink prices are amazing. I got a crab taco that took up half the plate, I couldn't even finish it. - You will get your money's worth. Cons: - It wasn't the best food I've ever eaten, but for the price and portion I was satisfied. - The drinks I ordered were a little watered down.
(4)Roberto F.
Ive been here about 3 or 4 times over the past couple of years, and it has not changed much. The food is fairly descent, yet somethings overpriced. Me, and my wife ordered the nachos with cheese appetizer, and I asked for a side of crab dip. It was extremely good crab dip, but for the price of a cheesteak, french fries, and a soft drink at another location (6.50), I dont think it was woth THAT much. My main course was the fish taco, and a side of a chalupa. I will tell you this, ive had better fish tacos, and it seems as if they have a good thing going here. I was tjere for about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The waiter took extremely long, and forgot ny chalupa. It seems as if it is a holiday, friday or saturday night (I went this oast valentines day) there attention to detail with the customers is lacking. I recommend going at lunch time, or during the week. All in all it was a good experience, but nothing to brag about.
(3)Sally f.
i have a bunch of friends who love this place like crazy. so we went. i thought the food was good. not amazing but good. everyone loves the margaritas too but i dont like margaritas so i didnt get one. the service was very slow, but it was a good time.
(3)Hannah T.
Well... I just went there a week or two ago and the food was a lot better... I'd still rather go to el azteca, but my family thought it was really good.... AND They still have great corn tortillas and salsa!

to preface: on tuesday 3/3 i ate a very delicious italian hoagie at 5pm, expecting it to be the last thing i could eat for a while. on wednesday 3/4 i had my wisdom teeth extracted. the next five days were a blur of felicity marathons, the midnight premiere of watchmen (mistake on a few levels), oxycodone, extreme hunger, and self-loathing. real food was not a part of my life and i missed it dearly. there's only so much apple sauce i can eat and only so much chocolate boost i can drink. the review: i met up with a college friend i'd lost touch with and after hanging out and catching up, we decided to grab some food. somehow we ended up here. i've only been here once before and for some reason that experience was less than memorable. on wednesday 3/11 las margaritas became the she-wolf that nurtured me until i felt as powerful as both romulus & remus and ready to found a great empire. they have a pretty extensive menu but i landed on the very ambiguous "mexico special". i don't recall the exact description but it was really just a chicken burrito with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream served with refried beans and rice. i forgot to ask for black beans instead of refried, which i thought i would regret. after ordering i closed my menu and politely handed it back to my server, expecting something chewable and acceptable enough. what i got was the most surprisingly delicious mexican tastiness i've encountered in recent memory. i expected the chicken to be tiny little pieces of unidentifiable shredded dark meat. what i got were large, fresh chunks of white meat chicken. without the lettuce, tomato and sour cream on top, the burrito would've been just so-so, but together it was really fresh and tasty. i was doing so well chewing (my first real attempt since the surgery), i decided to at least try the refried. i usually hate them. these tasted like God made them. the rice was just okay, but i scarfed that down too. i'm the kind of girl who orders the biggest thing on the menu and then leaves a great amount of the order sitting on the plate, destined to end up in styrofoam purgatory on the bottom shelf of my fridge. i ate everything. everything. it's lucky the server came by (finally) and retrieved the plate. no kidding. i'll say this, i don't know if it was just that i was generally food-deprived for a solid week that made me enjoy my meal so much, but i really did. thoroughly. although i didn't drink the other night, from previous experience i can tell you the margaritas are superb. i was jealous of everyone around me drinking them. this place loses points for: -service: our server only came by three times on his own (take order, deliver order, deliver check) and i was in desperate need of more water on a few occasions. we had to flag him down multiple times because we wanted refills on our drinks. we also had to flag him down so we could pay and leave. i hate that. -seating: sometimes a loud, cramped restaurant is exactly what you need. but i'm not a fan of being so close to the table next to me on a bench seat that when the lady gets up to leave i first get her vagomach about 2 centimeters from my face and then when she turns to get her purse and coat, her ass hovering precariously over my plate. -parking: this place is in a strip mall. ever since they opened retro fitness right next door, it's impossible to park in a real spot. it's not the restaurant's fault, but it's still annoying to have to be a parking space vulture when you're not even in center city.
(3)Aika T.
Love this place! Great food and best margaritas. My favorite drink is chambord margarita and you should try texans fajitas.
(5)Roy H.
Finally got back here again. I had the Enchiladas Verdes this time. They were really good, they came with rice and beans. Second person had chorizo tacos (which is what i had last time) which looked messy (greasy and drippy) but were enjoyed with a side of rice. Third person had the crabmeat tacos and they were happy. It looked like chicken to me. I don't eat seafood but was told that that is what real crab meat looks like, not that pink stuff you see at the supermarket. So, this was my third time here and i have to say that they are consistently good, big group or small. Service is good. Restaurant is clean. Food is consistently good and tasty. The only thing i would suggest is that you make sure the waiter understands your order as English is obviously a second language for some of them.
(4)Kristin E.
Great place for the margarita's and salsa/chips! The queso dip is a must try! The drink selection is great and the make frozen or on the rocks drinks and serve pitcher sizes.
(3)Jerry W.
You literally can't go wrong with this place. They have every American-Mexican dish you can imagine: taco, burrito, tamale, enchilada, quesadilla, chimichanga, fried ice cream, and they even have chalupa. Plus, they also have American and Italian food if you have picky eaters in your party. The staff is polite, attentive, and prompt, the restaurant is clean, the portions are monstrously huge, and the food is delicious. You can tell most of the food is homemade, the nachos, tortilla, and refried beans all taste from scratch. The cheese doesn't taste like the processed stuff you get at a supermarket, I suspect it's imported. The ground beef and chicken taste slow cooked and flavorful. Oh, did I mention the array of alcohol including pina colada, daiquiri, and, of course, margaritas? What more, the prices are sensible (I dare say even cheap). When we were there, the place was packed and it wasn't even dinner time yet. If you haven't gone to Las Margaritas yet, what are you waiting for?
(5)Martin R.
Started out a little rough chips were a bit stale and the salsa had regular parsley not cilantro in it. My wife ordered toqetios her favorite and I ordered the grande combo. The chicken taco was so so, the rice and beans were really good and the poblano chili relaneo was very good. It is not as good as some of the restaurants I have been to. In a pinch I would say it was overall satisfactory. Would I return? Not likely.
(3)Lise L.
I love this restaurant, I love their food, I love the crowd BUT THE BARTENDER AND HIS FUNKY ATTITUDE MUST GO! My besties and I meet up here often. We always sit in the bar area because we enjoy the camaraderie. Yes we order food but our drink orders (several Monster margaritas with shots) outweigh our food order. The bartender always subtly gave people an attitude but on this particular evening he was in rare form and blatant with his rudeness. We were so offended that we canceled our food order, paid for our drinks (which he tried to overcharge us for by $5 each! WTH?!?) and just left. Again I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT, the food is amazing, the other house staff are great but the bartender must go
(4)Alyssa C.
Pretty decent food, and comes out quick. Only complaint is some of the staff English speaking is not super great and becomes very loud!!!
(3)Christi P.
This place was good! Came here one day for some food that would really fill our bellies! We came around 4 on a Friday. It was busy but we walked in and got a table right away. The chips were crunchy and the salsa was chunky- Delicious!! We both got margaritas- my boyfriend had the coronarita and I had strawberry. Both were really good and pretty strong too! We got table-side guacamole- which was delicious! My only critique was the timing. We ordered our meals and received them before they came by to make the guacamole! So, needless to say our table was packed with food! WHOOPS! :) My fajitas were a really nice portion and my boyfriend got a combo that was scrumptious as well. Overall, affordable Mexican with large portions. I wouldn't say it was the best I ever had but it was great for the price! I would come again!
(4)Patti K.
Best Mexican food ever! The service kind of stinks, but the tasty food and delicious margaritas are well worth it!
(5)Corinne M.
The place is ok. Food is average, service is a bit slow but that's because it's fairly busy. The decor is a big gaudy, and the tables are cramped. It's an acceptable lunch spot for sure, definitely not worth the 30-45 minute weekend evening wait.
(3)Valentino G.
I love Las Margaritas, their food is alway amazing and the lunch specials are even better. I do like their chimichangas they are by far my most favorite! The drinks are definitely worth it and i always have a good time when i come here with friends or if I'm just grabbing a margarita with my girlfriend. They have plenty of different types of food that will satisfy your hunger. The first time I drank there was the day of my 21st birthday which was extremely fun. I order the chimichangas as usual cause thats my favorite dish and i also tried the frozen corinita rita, i didn't like the frozen one too much only because it tasted like a beer slushy, but they did bring out a shot of tequila and sang to me with my huge sombrero on my head; this definitely made up for the drink. The last time i went there we and my girlfriend and i got a corinita rita on the rocks it was amazing it tasted so good i would def order it again, I have tried their frozen margaritas and I would definitely order any of the margaritas. I will w=always be back to Las Margaritas.
(4)Brianna C.
a+ this place has amazing food and amazing drinks. Although sometimes there drinks make me feel very stuffed. Come here alot never let down.
(5)Tierra M.
Had dinner and drinks there! Amazing might i say, they make the guacamole right in front of you and it is fresh fresh! I had the biggest margarita in there and it was good! Strawberry it was. I recommend this place if your looking for some really authentic Mexican food done right and Margaritas! Definitely check it out!
(4)Neil S.
I don't know what the fudge they're doing in Southampton. I've eaten at the newer Las Margaritas on Second Street Pike a few times, and was never satisfied with any of the food I sampled there. I was expecting tough meat, indifferently prepared veg, and too much cheese. I don't know why, but the quality of food at this original location is far better. The salsa and chips are even fresher! It might be due to the huge turnover (20 minute wait on a MONDAY night), or maybe the owner keeps a closer eye on things over here. Regardless, at this location you will find properly prepared Tex-Mex food that relies on the quality of ingredients rather than adding a whole bunch of cheese and sour cream. This includes perfectly charred veggies with your fajitas, fantastic Mexican rice, well-seasoned beans, and burritos/tacos/what have you with good fillings. You'll also get fantastic margaritas (as the name implies) as well as other cocktails. Even though they're not made to order, I even recommend their house margaritas, as they're a perfect balance of sour, sweet, and tequila. Everything about the meal wasn't great, the steak in my fajitas was overcooked (though still juicy), the guacamole tasted jarred, and service was slow. Still, this spot is likely the best Tex-Mex in the area, and worth a visit if you're in the mood for this kind of cuisine. It's not authentic, but it hits the spot well.
(4)Mallory D.
I agree with whoever said that NE Philly people typically do not know good food (for proof please see my review on Zaccone's). I don't think this place is stellar, but I think it is the best Mexican you can get in about a 15 mile radius. The service isn't great...pretty slow actually. But I have never been disappointed in my food. I went this weekend and did a little create your own combo. Their tamals & chili rellenos are so good...everything else seems to kind of run together in my mind. Their entrees are usually swimming in cheese. Personally, I don't think that is the worst thing in the world, but if cheese isn't your thing, Las Margaritas isn't going to be your thing either. Their little bar scene is always packed. However, I thnik this is an optical illusion since the bar is the SMALLEST ever. They need to expand that. I love their margaritas. Nice, big & potent.
(4)Doug J.
Took a friend for tests at Jeanne's Hospital, and went here for lunch. OMG...best Mexican food I've had since my travels in Cabo San Lucas. Great service with lots of smiles and attention. Would go here any time I am in the area. Great spot.
(5)Jesse B.
Great Menu, reasonable price. The food is pretty awesome. Sometimes it gets a bit loud and crowded at this location. I prefer the one in Southampton, PA, just because of the crowd is less and the atmosphere is a little more upscale, but for the same price and menu. Margaritas here are to die for tho.
(4)Chrissy V.
Las Margaritas is my favorite Mexican food in the Philadelphia area. My boyfriend ordered the chimichanga lunch special and I got a chicken quesadilla. We also ordered the fajita nachos which were BOMB. They are huge though so keep that in mind when you order them. I lived in Arizona for the past five years and this restaurant is the closest I've gotten to genuine Mexican food. The servings are huge and the service is alright.
(5)Candace J.
They are making another las margarita on old York rd in front of Abington hospital and let me tell you I can't wait on top of the 6$ lunches and great late nite margaritas I don't no what's better So I love this place and Abington will too
(5)May C.
Please perform a fast before you come here and don't partake in any life changing decisions after because you will be struggling through a Mexican food coma, especially if you decided to add refried or black beans as a side dish. I give this place 3.5 stars but Yelp doesn't allow 1/2 star ratings. Place is overall "a-ok", but if you are judging only for this neighborhood area then it gets a four stars. Food is ok - for deal seekers this place is certainly one! I'd highly recommend the soft tacos here, very fresh. Service is ok/pretty good and they are fast. Craving for fish? Have the fish tacos. Craving for beef? Have the beef tacos. You get my point. Have the tacos (it comes only in soft shell). Comes with Mexican rice and salad topped with fresh avocado/tomatoes as a fresh salad "topping". Not in the mood for tacos? Go for the fajitas. For drinks - it's called Las Margaritas for a reason. Get the Strawberry Margarita, it's the special here, served in a knockout sized glass with a green cactus as a glass stem, befitting for the theme of the restaurant. Upon sitting down they serve you nachos and salsa - it's unlimited. But remember your appetite is limited so control yourself! The salsa is fresh but a tad bland for me, though I do realize they may have to tame it down for the mix of local clientele. Watch out for the green bottle of authentic Mexican habanero sauce that is with the condiment rack on the side of the table. It's good, but the hotness creeps in slowly, so top on slowly. Please don't make any comparisons to Taco Bell here. They serve fresh stuff and a kicking margarita at decent prices. The soft taco entree is shareable between two girls. If you don't plan to waste food and plan to consume your entire American super size me portion, I'd suggest you pull on your favorite Abercombie and Fitch sweatpants before you come here. This is a casual environment so it's okay, and at least your stomach won't cramp up from being restricted!
(3)Mike A.
Sensational Mexican cuisine! It's a touch expensive or I would go weekly, but their food absolutely blows away other Mexican food in the area. Keep it up guys!!
(5)Jennifer B.
The food is always good here especially anything called Diablo. Super spicy. The place is pretty authentic and convenient bc it is on the Roosevelt Blvd. I took away only one star because the wait is usually pretty long. Ambience is low key but still special.
(4)Emanuel F.
King of Mexican food in the Northeast!! Always tastes so fresh, and the atmosphere is pretty authentic. It also doubles as a nice night bar. Plus is it is kid-friendly.
(5)Jess N.
Love this place! The food and drinks are legit, but the quality of service is sometimes lacking
(3)Christina G.
This place does a good business and I must admit there are by far fewer options in NE Philly than in and around center city. It doesn't come close to my favorite Mexican places in the city, but I have yet to find a better Mexican place in NE Philly so I struggle between giving it 3 and 4 stars. One thing I don't like is that they won't seat a party until the entire party is present. We had a group of 7 and 6 of us were present and they made us wait until the 7th person showed up. Portions are enormous. After eating some chips, I usually don't even get through half of my meal. I am serious that they give you so much food that I sometimes am able to get 3 meals out of an entree. Drinks are also very large. They give you a generous amount of complimentary chips and salsa and they will keep bringing the chips until you tell them no more. Food is decent. I think their veggie menu is very good. I ordered a shrimp dish on my last visit and didn't think the shrimp tasted all that fresh. From now on, I will stick to vegetarian options. From the price and portion size, I can't imagine that the meat could be the highest quality but maybe I am wrong. With the cost of food increasing, I am amazed that they can give such large portions at their prices and still make money. The place can be a bit noisy since it is usually busy, and there always seems to be at least 1 or 2 large parties at any given time. But I enjoy coming here. Employees run around like crazy and seem like very hard workers. I would recommend this place if you are craving Mexican and happen to be in the NE.
(4)Jennifer K.
I love Mexican food and this place hit the spot. Way more food was served than I could ever eat in one sitting and it was more authentic than I was expecting... Not that I'm an expert or anything though. It's in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is cute and colorful like you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was tasty. I'll definitely be back again.
(4)Heather F.
We live right down the road and visit Las Margaritas at least once a week. While it is noisy (and sometimes chaotic, especially Friday nights) everything else makes up for that. The food is delicious (I do suggest staying away from the beef enchiladas though as the meat is very bland, the chicken burritos are the best in my opinion), the service is fast and friendly, and the margaritas make your meal. The only thing that's even better than the aforementioned: the bottomless chips and salsa.
(5)Gilbert N.
Went there for lunch with a co-worker. Good service, typical Mexican-American menu, and very affordable (cost about $10-$12 for a complete lunch meal). The portions were generous and most importantly, the food tasted good.
(4)Joey T.
Drinks are good, service isn't the best. Guaranteed you will get a ton of food but I've had better Mexican food in fact I'm positive I can make Better tasting Mexican food. Not the cleanest place and it's a bit cramped.
(3)Daria B.
We've been to this place many times. We always enjoy the food (fresh made quacamole, yummy), but I love to drug my husband there not only for that but for the huge Margaritas. Holy guacamole! They blow my brains out! Oh, I want another one right now... The only reason why I put 4 stars is the fact that they charge you a service charge for a party of 4 or more. I don't like that, especially when me and my husband had a dinner there and then two of our friends joined us at the table for a couple of drinks. Percentage from the whole bill was added as a service charge to the total. Not nice.
(4)Natalie C.
Loveeeeeee this place. Every time I go I am never dissapointed. Great service. Authentic food, even though I get the same thing every time. Burrito superior! The rice is delicious and the chips and salsa they give you when you are seated is like a cherry on top
(5)Katelyn S.
AMAZING!!! I love this place. My sister and I came here once and we were hoping up hate it because it was such a long drive but we fell in love! I bring everyone here now. The food is so good. The margaritas are so good and strong. It's a little hard to communicate with the staff but I am getting my hand gestures down! Can't wait to go back!
(5)Mantis N.
Strong margaritas, great food, large portions! I usually get their enchiladas or their crab tacos! So good.
(5)Gina T.
i have been coming to this place for years, even before it was popular. I have never had a bad meal there in the last 7 years of so... The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. The lunch specials are amazing also. These people specialize in Margaritas!!! So when you order one be prepared for deliciousness.. I would suggest the small regular size Margarita which is still pretty big, the large is just too much to finish with all the food.. I love this place, and the price is affordable.
(4)Dennis B.
This place always trumps the last meal that I have. This draws a big crowd and gets packed.........the service is e cel lent and the food is exceptional..........the drinks are also pretty good. This is a great place to try on the spur of the moment and won't be disappointed. A busy restaurant is a sign of good things..........
(4)Lauren L.
Saw 2 bugs crawling across the bar during the 2 hours I spent here. Gross. Don't want to think about what the kitchen looks like if that's the acceptable condition at the bar.
(1)Laura N.
Since I've moved to Center City Philadelphia, I miss this place more and more. Las Margaritas gives you chips and salsa as soon as you sit down at the table. The salsa is delish and the chips are salted just enough. Go during lunch time during the week if you can. The amount of food you get for the price is a steal. I usually get the chicken quesadilla. Also, you get a nice serving of rice and beans along with your meal. Overall, the service and food has always been great and I always have enough left overs for another meal the next day.
(4)Jack R.
I've been here numerous times & the food is excellente, the service is muy fantastico, & the prices are very reasonable( don't know that en espanol). My wife & I are regulars here for good reason. Always a good time & never disappointed!!
(5)Vinay M.
This place has the best tasting Mexican food in the Philly area. The chips and salsa are very good (and very filling). The margaritas are big and strong. I typically the order the Camarones a la diabla and it is delicious (but you better be able to handle some heat). My wife is vegetarian and usually gets the veggie combos (which is also very delicious). The refried beans at this place are to die for. One negative is that the service seems to have gone downhill the past year. The waiters usually don't check on you very often. Another downside is that the wait can be very long if you go on a Friday or Saturday evening. They do have a bar area but it's fairly small. The place is also a little cramped so not ideal if you have a party larger than 4.
(4)Ashley M.
I love this place. Margheritas are awesome. Food is great!. Love the Chille Rellenos! Boyfriend loved the tacos. I haven't had anything bad here.

I love this place, just went her tonight for dinner had the chori pollo which i highly recommend have had it three other times always good. The chips are awesome as in the salsa and i love everything ive gotten from here. Prices are good a combo with rice and beans only 10bucks. Its hard for me to pass up a margarita, had the frozen mango tonight delicous, but got the large and couldnt finish it. I drive about 25 mins to get here from my place so not bad.
(4)Heather S.
Good stuff. Never had a bad dining experience. I always leave with lunch for the next day! AND they make some super strong Margaritas.
(4)Stephanie T.
Mexican food is one of my favorites, so this place is always a treat. The food is pretty decent, doesn't "knock your socks off", but it will satisfy any craving you have for mexican food. The salsa is very good. But where they may fall short in food, they more than make up for it at the bar. I have been going here for a few years and I have NEVER had a weak drink. I know I will always get my money's worth in this area. They serve quality alcohol and the mixed drinks are always on point. Portions are amazing and the drink menu is extensive. Mixed drinks are my favorite, and I've had my share - no disappointments here. Their menu even enticed my super masculine husband to order "girly" mixed drinks - they pack a punch!
(4)Casey L.
ok, here's the scoop on Las Margarita's. do you know El Azteca in the city? (and also one in the northeast-not as good) well Francisco from the teca and a few of the other staff opened Las Maragritas a few years back. the menu, the food and the prices are identical. seriously, it's the same restaurant. Except Las Margarita's has a liquor license. another thing to note: do not get a standard margarita, get a special one because those are the ones made to order, they are also stronger and better in every way. food is good, it's not exquisite, but it is priced right. the staff is pretty awesome and again, the drinks are good.

It makes me so sad to write this, as this used to be one of my favorite places. I used to go here nearly once a week with my husband for great Mexican food and margaritas. They have a whole section on their menu for vegetarians, and I've had everything they offer, and it was always delicious. Unfortunately, however, it doesn't seem to be a big deal to them if there is a chunk of chicken in the vegetarian entrees. This has happened to me twice, once in April, and once last night. It took me a while to go back after the incident in April, but I decided to give them a second chance. After last night, forget it. The waiter was very apologetic, and brought me out more beans (which was where the chicken was this time, the first time it was hidden in a spinach burrito) but needless to say I no longer felt much like eating. To top it off, no adjustment was made to our bill either time. I am not one to make a scene, so we paid and left. I am so disappointed to have lost one of my favorite restaurants, but I won't be going back. Vegetarians beware!
(1)Jennifer W.
GREAT FOOD!!! Love this place! The prices are great and the portions are huge! The chips and salsa that they give on the table are awesome! The nachos grande are also excellent! There is definitely something on the menu that will please anyone! I usually get the 4 enchiladas smothered in sauce and cheese, lettuce, and sour cream!!! YUM!!!! I have been here a few times and will keep going back!
(5)Mark B.
The best Mexican food you can get, period. Writing this review is making me hungry for Las Margaritas now!!
(5)Don L.
Whether you dine on a weeknight or the weekend, be sure to arrive early enough to sit in the bar and enjoy one of Francisco's amazing Margaritas served with the flair and theartrical precision of a rare pro. This really makes the 15-20 minute wait fly by on the weekends. The dining area is clean, bright and hand painted with traditional Mexican colors and country scenes. I've eaten the very best Mexican food the world has to offer and this place hold its own agaist them all. Service is impeccable, prices are reasonable and the staff is flat out warm like family. I can't say enough about this place except that I'm glad I can walk home in a pinch.
(5)Renata Z.
This is one of the best places in that area. Always busy. Weekend nights often need to wait to be seated but that's took me like 5-15 min no longer. I love what they serve there. Tried many different dishes and never had even single complain. And drinks are great too. Also prices are not high. 5 stars!
(5)Irina L.
Stopped on a spur of the moment, to support the national tequila day, and we ended up enjoying a couple of amazing margaritas, bar nibbles and shared a huge quesadilla. The staff is super friendly and open-minded: they made a custom jalapeno margarita, which is not on the menu, but turned out fab! Loved their decor: nice mix of kitchy and southwest accents, and the huge exhibit of scull bottles at the bar is pretty cool. Mind the high bar stools - they slide like crazy on the tile floor: desperately need some "grip" glued to the bottom.
(4)Sean M.
I enjoyed my meal here very good food outside of Northern Liberties. They are punctual and I can always get a table here. The only thing that I don't care for is the loud colors. I know they are Mexican and all but the colors are a little much for me. If you want some quality mexican food than make your way over.
(4)Julie J.
It's an awesome place to have a good time with the girls. Margaritas are the best and food is delish and affortable!!!! Also, it's also a great place to celebrate your birthday and the give you a Mexican hat to sing along happy birthday in spanish! Love it
(5)Faith U.
Stay away! Honestly, I was looking forward to my food. It was either this restaurant or chipotle. I found 2 bugs not only in the salsa but the chicken nachos. The cheese for the nachos was runny and the chicken tasted stale.
(1)Monica Y.
Average place for Tex Mex. Reasonably price menu. Awesome margaritas! Their food portions are huge! You'll definitely have some leftovers to take home.
(3)Serena R.
I recently went for the very first time the other day and I had the 16oz Strawberry Margarita (José is my choice of tequila), now I'm no light weight, but that margarita had me tilting crazy!!! The food is freaking SUPERB!!!! RE-FRIED BEANS WITH XTRA CHZ PLZ!!! It's good to know that there are actual authentic Mexican restaurants in Philly!
(5)Linda F.
Love this place. Great food and atmosphere. The wait for a table can be a while but it's worth it. The mango margaritas are delicious!
(4)Miles W.
Great food and atmosphere but they put onions in everything. My girl is allergic to onions and were probably not going back since almost every order has some sort of onion powder premixed into it.
(4)Jen W.
Food: I loved the food. My friend and I ordered the grande special (a crap ton of food!), jefe special, spinach dip, and guacamole dip. Salsa and chips are served as you ponder over your order. The spinach dip was amazing! All the food was delicious however it was incredibly salty. We also ordered a lime margarita and mango margarita. They definitely did not skimp on the alcohol because we were tipsy! Service: the place was really busy when we arrived (Thursday night 6:30pm). It was our first time here so I was hoping we didn't wait too long. We waited around 30 minutes but luckily our food didn't take long. Atmosphere: the place is pretty small and results in being crowded but it was nice enough. The cactus decors were quite cute. However they should invest in a bigger restaurant. The experience was great and I will come back again!
(4)Tara S.
Always have a good meal here and it is always requested by family when they come and visit me. Love the Mexican Flag dish one of my favorites.
(5)Leigh O.
I'll be the one to say it. The food here sucks. I think these million awesome reviews had to have been left by people who had a few drinks first and that skewed their taste buds. I will say that I did enjoy the drinks, but for me the drive from West Philly just wasn't worth it for the overall experience. Our crab dip was so watered down it was hard to get any on the chip because it kept sliding off. I had to add salt and pepper because there was NO flavor to the dip at all. Most of all I tried to keep it safe by order a simple chicken quesadilla. After what felt like hours of waiting it comes out I take one bite and spit it out. The cheese it it was not only ridiculously thick, but solidified. Not even melted. Seriously? I took it to my nephews and they said it was the most amazing grilled cheese sandwich they ever had. Think about it.
(1)RM M.
Went at about 9:45 on a Wednesday night and found out they close at 10 - We asked if it was fine to stay and they told us just the kitchen closed then but they would make us whatever we wanted - We had the carne asada tacos (must have had a pound of cilantro on them) and Quesadillas but they ended up bringing fajitas instead - Food was excellent - huge, huge portions - and not expensive at all (i think about 11 each) - Everyone in there was speaking spanish - patrons included - so if you have issues with understanding accents you way want to avoid - the sever and the bartender were super nice - spoke in a spanish english mix to everyone - and the atmosphere was extremely upbeat and happy, especially for that late on a weeknight - would highly recommend -
(4)Quiana C.
Went there for my very first time last night with my husband, despite the mixed reviews. Yes it was crowded, yes it was loud, yes the bar is small, but yes the food was delicious, yes our waiter was nice and attentive, and yes the chips were fresh, warm and delicious. I agree a tad bland but that's most likely because they have Americanized their dishes. I had a strawberry margarita that was huge and strong and put me on my a**. For my entree I had the los amigos and my husband had the enchiladas verdes both huge and delicious. For desert I had the brownie bottom pie (warning: its not just the brownie, it also comes with fried ice cream with a ton of whipped cream and chocolate drizzle) but that BROWNIE melts in your mouth its light fluffy and warm. My husband had the fried ice cream, which he enjoyed, if you've never had fried ice cream there is coconut in it, it doesn't list it on then menu so if u don't like or are allergic to it don't order the fried ice cream. Overall I enjoyed myself, its 9mins from my house and I will def. return.
(5)Tom C.
Ok, I am a recent Texas transplant and this is not good. The selection of beers is a sight for sore eyes yes, but the food is not good.
(2)Nora D.
Comfortable atmosphere, great prices, friendly service, decent food... my only complaint about this place is that you will definitely have to WAIT for a table if you go on the weekend...
(4)Pamela V.
A good mexican place and one of the few in the northeast area of philly
(4)John C.
Just recently joined up with Yelp, and sadly, I haven't been to this place in a couple months, but I just thought I would throw my two cents in. (I haven't been there since 2/2012, so take this review with that in mind). The food is EXCELLENT. It is so easy to just throw together fast and cheap Mexican food, and it's so obvious that this place actually cares about what you eat. The service was prompt, drinks were always refilled, and the server gave us plenty of space when we needed it. The combo's are a great deal and you will be plenty full by the end of the meal. Highly recommended!
(5)Brie D.
I wish I wasn't forced to make a rating on this sad pathetic "Mexican" restaurant. If negatives were a choice that'd be the one I make. This place is a joke. The only thing that was good were the margaritas. I ordered nachos. They had everything and the kitchen sink on them..except no nachos? It was a soggy mess! It looked like something out of Napoleon Dynamite. I thought this was a "restaurant" not a mess from a high school cafeteria. We complained that the "nachos" just weren't editable...(not mention they switched our waiter mid order). The manager screamed at us saying "what a nice restaurant it is". Who are you trying to convince ..me? Or yourself? He threatened to call the police..even though I didn't touch my meal! I paid for my lame excuse of a meal. On top of it the bathroom was foul and overflowed with water! My question is to all the people who have given this place 5 stars...I'd love to see your idea of 1 star. I've seen better service at a McDonalds.
(1)Michele H.
Writing this review makes me hungry for it!! Their taco salad is amazing, their tacos are divine and the margaritas are pretty authentic! The wait at nights is pretty rough, I usually go at an off-time for lunch. The staff is okay they don't say much but I don't ask for suggestions cause I know what I want so I never had to expirence that. Sometimes it can be hard to hear but its a small space. Nice for a girls lunch, my boyfriend hates it, he thinks the decor is tacky but seriously you don't go there to look at the paintings on the walls and the upholstery and when your drunk off margaritas you don't care.
(4)Stephanie W.
Love, love, love this place! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the wait is bordering on unbearable most nights. Fortunately, once you get seated and see the prices, then get a taste of the homemade tortilla chips and salsa, you forget all about standing in a freezing huddle in the doorway for an hour! If that isn't enough to warm you up, just order one of their Margaritas (I prefer mine frozen) and you'll be in seventh heaven. I would go back more often, but I'm not a very patient woman so I try to make it there every couple months.
(4)Jason K.
The food quality has gone downhill since I first started coming here a couple of years ago. They still serve ok tasting food but overall, it used to be much better. The rice is very mushy and buttery, the refried beans are too salty, the chile relleno tasted old and the sauce must've been some prefab canned sauce because it didn't have the same fresh and clean tastes before. The chicken burrito was bland but the tacos and fajitas are still great and they offer guacamole made fresh - all very hefty portions. The service is always great, friendly, and fast; and the bar is a good place to hang out and grab a beer while waiting for a table.
(2)Judy V.
Had a late dinner with a girlfriend of mines here for the first time on a Thursday night. I always thought "Thirsty Thursdays" was just an internet meme of some sort, but I learned otherwise at Las Margaritas. It was PACKED, especially at the bar. They were churning out drinks like no tomorrow. I usually don't prefer very crowded places, but the atmosphere was very fun and the decor was eclectic so I didn't really mind. The food was great. Very authentic. Since I was driving, I opted for no margaritas but did get a sip of my friend's. Yum! I just wish their waitresses were more educated about the menu. Ours had to run to the chef for every question. Other than that, great place to grab Mexican food and drinks.
(5)Candice G.
Really good food. Fast service. Great prices. We'll be back!
(4)Veronica B.
The food here is so good. I can never finish what's on my plate. My favorite was the Crab Quesadilla. Yum! The drinks are also awesome. I would suggest going not on a Friday/Saturday night because they are always packed after 5 p.m. Hey, even this review is making me hungry for some of their food...
(5)Michael L.
I lived in Arizona for 2 years. Even the breakfast cereal had salsa and tortillas in it. This is as close to authentic mexican your getting in the northeast. Well, since Tacos Lucas closed anyway. For the record, I love the carnitas. And who the hell orders nachos. They come for FREE! I will vouch for this place. Oh, and they run coupons in the NE Times every other week!
(4)Maureen M.
Yes, their margaritas are good - strong, nice sweet and sour balance, inexpensive. Good guacamole, love their cheese enchiladas! Tres leches cake and fried ice cream are nice for dessert too. Service is really hit or miss, but everyone is always happy and smiling!
(4)Annie S.
Food is horrible and service is even worse, servers just care about making tip money and don't care how the service is. They are so busy making tip money they don't care if the food they spilled on your clothes gets ruined. I went wearing my fav expensive jacket and hung it up on the chair someone spilled shit load of sauce/salsa on it and didn't even care to inform, when I come home I see the jacket is all messed up. This place always smells like fish, greasey food margaritas hardly has any liquor. Seriously people stop thinking abt making money n care abt making service better
(1)Lisa C.
its delicious! the margarita's are bangin! I usually get the chicken chimicangas and they are like CRACK! only thing is...when its busy, prepare to wait and its crowded! go early.
(4)Lindsey B.
Words aren't needed the wait is usually insanely long but the food makes up for it. I usually sit with my gf's at the bar when we can't handle the wait.
(5)Jay K.
Vegetarian Review: The enchiladas and burritos are AMAZING! Its as authentic as it gets, the vibe is great and the decorations are fantastic too! I definitely recommend the Pick 2 or 3 combos, and try the Cheese enchiladas and bean burritos!
(5)Irish L.
Great place! I've never had a bad meal here! It's also vegan friendly which is a plus since my dad is one! So he can join us here! Portions are huge and the prices are great. I will say that the queso is not the greatest but everything else I've had has been delicious!! There's usually a wait but that's because it's so good and everyone knows it! Wait has never been longer than 30 min. Today was only 15 :)
(5)Suzanne S.
So I'm not one to judge Mexican food seeing as though the only thing I like are Nachos, Salsa, and Guacamole (all are good here) but I will say their margaritas and martinis are some of the best ever. Mexicans know how to make an alcoholic drink a drink. Aside from their margaritas, the pomegranate, apple, and chocolate martinis are all great. The shrimp cocktail is also very good because it is more like a ceviche. It is in a tomato sauce and mixed with chunks of avocado, serves in a monster glass. Their deserts are also yummy.
(4)Jude L.
Love las margaritas, although at times it can feel slightly claustrophobic and get a little loud, the food is phenomenal.
(4)Naryah M.
I love this place. The margaritas are on point! Get the monster and you're good to go. Nice for girls night drinks. Actually, good for any night of drinking. . Food is horrendous though lol. I like the crab dip. That's about it. In many opinion, the drinks keeps this place alive.
(3)Mia M.
Love love love it! One of my favorite places to eat! The Chips & Salsa are unlimited, fresh & free! The Margaritas are always nice & strong and the come in a nice big glass. Authentic Mexican waiters that are always super friendly and more than happy to explain menu items. And with lunch special starting @ $4.99 what is there to complain about?? Must haves are the "Chori-Pollo" a big piece of grilled chicken breast with a mound of ground up chorizo (spicy mexican sausage) sitting right in the middle. Served with 2 warm tortillas, yellow rice & a guacamole salad. Delish! I also love the Chicken Quesadillas & the Camarone Verata are to die for! Def give this place a try!
(4)Mandy H.
For the Northeast, Las Margaritas is as good as it gets. I work nearby and you can't beat the lunch specials here. I usually get the chicken and steak fajitas, which are big enough have some left over for dinner. Also, they have huge Margaritas that I've been known to imbibe on a Thursday or Friday at lunch. Keeps things interesting. The chips and salsa a free if you eat in. The service honestly isn't the best, it usually takes a while for the food to come out, especially if you're eating with more than 4 people, so plan to take a long lunch.
(4)Thomas R.
The food is good but the service is horrible. The last two times it took approximately 30 minutes each time just to place our order. There are better establishments around.
(2)Renea R.
After trying Las Margaritas for the first time last night I am definitely a fan! When we arrived the place was packed and so we had to wait for about 10-15 minutes before being seated. Once inside we were promptly greeted by our friendly waitress who took our drink orders and brought them to us very quickly. My friends and I each tried a different flavor of their margaritas and each was delicious (and HUGE!) I also got a Pina Colada, which was equally tasty. The drinks are reasonably priced, large, and strong. The menu is quite large with lots of great and authentic options. I ended up getting the Enchiladas Poblanas and was very happy with the quality of the food. It was definitely of a more upscale Mexican experience than I've had at other places. The pricing is a little expensive (my meal was around $11) but the portions are quite large. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and the food came out quickly despite how busy they were. The restaurant itself is cute and the bathroom was very nice. The only major downside that kept me from listing this restaurant as 5 star was the fact that they messed up our checks. We asked to split the bill and it did not go well. First of all, they put some items on the wrong check and then double charged us for an extra $8 drink that we didn't have. Luckily I caught the mistake the waitress rushed to fix it. She brought me back change and apologized for the error. Overall I am a huge fan of Las Margaritas and I will be going there often now that I discovered it!
(4)Elizabeth S.
Muy delicioso!! The chips and salsa are delicious, as are the huge margaritas! I have tried just about all flavors and they're pretty fabulous. It's always packed in here, which is great because I know that all of the ingredients are fresh. My favorite entree is the taco salad. I'm salivating just thinking about it. HUGE portions and fresh food. The only thing that I don't love about Las Margaritas is that every dish has refried beans, and you don't have an option to have black beans or pinto beans instead. I'd rather have a black bean burrito than a refried bean burrito, so that's the only negative. Otherwise this is an excellent place for small and large groups, and almost any occasion.
(4)Denise H.
When this place was just a small Mexican joint on Bustleton Avenue with no liquor license, it was always packed. Only the locals knew of it's existence so they had to expand and boy, did they! The quality of food is the same but it's bigger, brighter and now has the special margaritas and a nice selection of beers. Have Francisco make you one of his specialty drinks at the bar and he will be glad to recommend something to compliment it on the menu. The service here is top notch and it's a great place to go with friends. It's a tame party atmosphere - lively good music and friendly people. I have always walked out full and happy. P.S. The chicken nachos rock
(4)John M.
Consistently good food. Consistently good drinks. Solid service. A favorite Mexican restaurant in the northeast! Love the salsa.
(4)Ashley C.
I been to this place many times. I called ahead for three people and still had to wait 30 minutes but I'm guessing since it was a Saturday night (7pm) but the food is great and for the price you get a good amount. And their drinks are to die for, they are not cheap on the alcohol! I had a small strawberry banana slushy drink and it was GOOOOOOD! The best part is when you have a birthday , the whole place sings happy birthday and they put this Big sombrero on your head and give you a double shot of patron
(5)J W.
I would like to give this place more stars but it is a freakin' jungle on saturdays. This place is too small for that many customers. We basically had dinner with the couple sitting at the table next to us. Its tight in there. Dont think about having a private conversation. Well, it is so loud in there anyway. Too bad. Another thing was that while we were waiting for a table we ordered some margaritas. There was maybe a 1/4 of a shot in a 16 oz glass. It didnt taste like anything just watery. I usually dont drink that much but that was just a weak margarita. Plus there was no special going on. It was pretty expensive. Although I enjoyed the enchiladas and my husband enjoyed the jumbo burrito. It was very tasty which is why I wish it wouldnt be so chaotic. We might go back for the food since there are not that many mexican restaurant options in the NE but certainly not on a saturday.
(3)Joe W.
Great Mexican food at a good price. It's very rare that I have a problem here, but it has happened. I suggest the chicken tacos margarita. Just the right amount of spice. The margaritas are better than most places
(4)Michael G.
My family and I love Las Margaritas. The food is consistently good and the drinks are very tasty. I personally like the Camarones Diablo and its added spicy hotness. My family has it's regular dishes we like to order - chicken quesadilla, veggie quesadilla, chicken burrito, chicken soft taco, and the queso with beef and salsa - YUM! even the fried ice cream is a treat. This place always seems to be packed at rush hours, and is quite noisy but a lot of fun, too!
(5)Michael B.
I went to Las Margarita's for one reason. I wanted a Margarita. Not an alcoholic slushy, but a true Margarita. One like this: 1 ounce tequila Dash of Triple Sec Juice of 1/2 lime or lemon Pour over crushed ice, stir. Rub the rim of a stem glass with rind of lemon or lime, spin in salt--pour, and sip So, I ordered a margarita, and I figured I'd get a late lunch too, so I got the Tacos De Camaron (Shrimp tacos). The tacos were good. Not great, not terrible, but good. The margarita was a damned premix poured over ice in a cactus themed plastic cup, with an orange slice garnish. WHAT THE HELL? Read the recipe I posted again for how to make a Margarita. Is what I got even close? I went for one reason, one drink, and seeing how the name of the place is the name of the drink I wanted, I went in with high expectations. They failed to meet my expectations. They'd get 0 stars if I was allowed, and if I could technically do that. They get 2 because the tacos deserve 3, but the drink brought it down to two.
(2)Jiji T.
Some of the best Mexican food I've had. I miss stoping by with the wife to grab a beer and quesadillas. They need to start one in the city. Service is always good too. Good food and a chill place to grab a drink.
(5)Kelly H.
Best guacamole in town!!!
(5)Michelle N.
As a resident of Northeast Philly, this restaurant confirms my long time belief that people in NEPhilly love crap. Not only do they love crap, People RAVE about this place. They say how great the food is and how fabulous the margaritas are. Well, like usual, I disagree. But I don't like tasteless meat and super sour mix laden margaritas . If you do, or are like the majority of NE Philly inbred residents that have sex with your brother or sister, then hey, go to Las Margaritas. Carnitas - no flavor. Pulled chicken in quesidillas and on soggy nacho slop plate - no flavor. Crab in crab tacos - salty as balls after basketball. I don't get it. I really don't get it. I keep trying restaurants in NEPhilly and I keep getting what I am expecting...crap.
(1)Jason J.
Was here once but it was a good experience, quick and friendly wait staff and the food was a good price and VERY tasty!
(5)Deborah R.
The best chicken soft tacos in the city, the pork and beef ones are very good also. The refried beans and rice are very good too. Very crowded on a Saturday night, but worth the wait. Very good guacamole. Haven't been here in a while, but the food is just as good as I remember. Used to come to this place all the time when it was El Cancun on Bustleton Avenue. Consistently good food and friendly service.
(5)Jill T.
Camarones del Diablo is amazing!!!! So is the Pollo del Diablo, but if you can't handle spicy don't get it! It's no joke!! So good, and so spicy... my mouth is watering as I type! The margaritas here are fantastic, and really, really strong! In the Northeast- this place is ACES!
(5)Erika S.
One can't really have a complaint about this place. Its fun, with toe-tapping music and great food! I've frequented this place in the last few years because its probably the best Mexican restaurant close to where I live. They provide you with your standard chips and dip while you wait on your main dish. Nothing too extravagant on their menu that you can't find at any other Mexican joint, but its all about the atmosphere and effort they put into you having an enjoyable time, I think. This place gives you a good feeling and its always been a joy to stop in there for a quick dinner.
(4)Greg D.
Best Mexican food in the northeast. Great prices on their lunch specials as well.
(5)Felicia C.
Very good food, but soooo filling! You will always end up taking at least half of your food home. The margaritas are very large and strong. Lots of fun! Also, it gets VERY LOUD in there, so prepare yourself.
(5)Ben V.
This place is a staple of modern Northeast Philly dining...and it only gets two stars. I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
(2)Shannon Y.
This place is a good place to stop for a quick dinner that fulfills a specific craving for me. I've had and loved authentic Mexican fare but I sometimes just crave the Americanized stuff I grew up with. Las Margaritas delivers that at a fair price, with decent quality and accompanied by margaritas that are tasty and strong. The enchiladas are cheesy and the chips are crispy and fresh. You definitely won't find anything worthy of a Michelin star here, but you will leave satisfied and, if you like margaritas, more than a little buzzed. My only complaint is that the wait staff always assumes that my boyfriend is paying and thanks him, even when I have handed them the check presenter full of cash myself. It's a small annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.
(4)James M.
This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant around and it's starting to gain cult status around the Northeast. Prices are fantastic you really can't beat them especially at lunch time. Portions are out of this world you most likely wont finish your meal and will always leave with something to eat later. The salsa is awesome probably go through at least 3 bottles and 3 bowls of chips every time I go here. Every time I got I try something different on the menu and have never been disappointed by what I received my favorite dish of all was the Burrito Superior just get it trust me you'll love it. The Margaritas are pretty awesome too. If you haven't been here you have to at least try it out once you'll most likely leave happy.
(4)Sarah J.
My favorite Mexican place ! Love to go around lunch time when they have their lunch specials, what a deal. They start you off with Fresh tortilla chips and salsa, that's enough to want you coming back. I usually get the house margarita or their daiquiris. My boyfriend likes the Coronita-ritas and they are delicious as well! They are definitely not shy with their tequila. I usually get the chicken quesidiallas which comes with re fried beans and some guacamole, its heaven! Its usually always crowded no matter what time of the day it is but i never had to wait too long. This place is very authentic from their decor to their drinks and food, never a dull time. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Mexican food and good drinks.
(4)Jess S.
Great prices, fairly solid Mexican fare, and great margaritas. Gets crowded on a weekend night but they're a great lunch spot: solid specials, plus its nice and quiet at that time. Reasonably Veg friendly, and you'll always have leftovers - last time I was there we got nachos and a dinner veg quesadilla for 16 bucks, and I had enough leftovers for 2 more meals. PS - my rating considers this place far from true latino food - we're not talking la lupe or veracruzana or tierra colombiana here. But for what it is (a fun gathering place with friends who want some cheap grub), it's solid, and I always have a good time

I've been looking for a decent Mexican restaurant in the area for a while and had yet to find one until now! Finally!! The place was packed so my bf and I had about a 25 minute wait. We got seats at the bar and ordered a frozen lime margarita and a mojito. The mojito my bf had was awesome! I would opt for the on the rocks margaritas as the frozen ones are pre-made and come out of a slushy machine (not my cup of tea)-- It was still pretty strong though. We were seated after finishing our drinks and I had no idea what to get off the HUGE menu. We ordered the san jose special which was 3 different enchiladas with mexican rice and a quesadilla and taco. I'm a huge enchilada fan and these were delish. The quesadilla was huge for a cheap $4.50. Chips and salsa were fresh-- I always eat way too many before my entree!! DEFINITELY will be back here. Happy hour is M-F 5-7pm--discounted margs and domestic beer.

we used to love this place went here today and no real bartender everyone who waits tables makes drinks. We decided to try the southhampton location and it is worse. What a shame they had a great thing going now everyone suffers because of both places

I am quite the Las Margaritas fan! I come here on a regular basis. First off they start you off with chips and salsa, and the salsa is very very good! I usually order a bowl cheese. The bowl of cheese is like a bowl of melted america cheese, soooo good! I usually get the combo meal which is very reasonably priced. Also the drinks here are very inexpensive. Always a plus!

Not sure how this place packs em in, except that the are very few other mexican restaurants in the NE. I've given this place 4 chances and not once walked away satisfied. Last visit was about 1 month ago and they were packed. Service sucked, the food was worse, and I almost choked on the dryness and tastelessness of their taco. Come on, how do u manage to screw up a basic condiment of the Mexican delicacy? To top it off, the waiters breath could kill a dragon! Other meals there have been consistently poor. Taco Bell has one up on this joint!
(1)Michael D.
Las magritas is a great place to fran some good cheap Mexican food. They have a pick two meal for 10 bucks. Also some of the best margaritas I ever had. Only down fall is Tue resturant is small and always packed so not good for a private meal. Others then that its really good
(4)Mark G.
Food was horrible service don't even get me started the place smells bad and the waiters only care about money
(1)Kate M.
So I went to Mexico this past May and, to tell you the truth, I still don't feel like I'm qualified to comment on the authenticity of Mexican food. That said, I'm pretty sure Las Margaritas uses American cheese in their dishes, so... maybe not so authentic? I really don't give a damn though, because the food is still super yummy. My go to meal is the jumbo crab burrito. It's freaking huge. Kind of pricey, I think it's $16-$18, but I've never gotten any less than 3 full meals out of it. Especially since I usually fill up on chips and salsa before the meal comes out. This place probably isn't somewhere worth going out of your way for, but it has a special place in my heart. If you're around, stop in. I hear the margaritas are a-okay!
(4)Faye B.
This place is great. Delicious, fresh, inexpensive mexican food. I always leave stuffed! Nothing fancy here, just good food, good service, good price. Great place when craving Mexican!
(4)Walt B.
Excellent Mexican food at a great price. Drinks can make your meal a little pricey, but that is typical of any place. They have a great inexpensive lunch menu.
(5)Christine A.
Best mexican food in NE Philly. Note that I did not say it's the best mexican food ever, or even in Philadelphia. The food is solid and served in nice sized portions, though not necessarily authentic mexican. Service is spotty - sometimes stellar, other times dismal. There's a reason for the name: try the margaritas.
(3)Samantha F.
There is really nothing bad to say about this place. Chips and salsa=amazing. Food is delish and large portions, I often leave feeling like I could explode because I simply cannot stop myself from finishing my meal down to those fabulous rice and beans...mmmm....MARGARITAS are soooo goood and the price is right! I drink those bad boys by the pitcher and I am tipsy off of two(glasses not pitchers)! Hands down one of my favorite places in the northeast! If you have not been you dont know what you are missing! My friends travel far and wide to join me here because they are addicted as well.
(5)Angelo R.
The service was ok, I felt that the waiter could've been more attentive. The food was average all in all
(3)Alexandra R.
the food is served in huge portions, and the drinks are amazing. the food, especially the ground beef, is under seasoned, which makes the huge portion of it undesirable.
(3)Jen R.
Now that El Azteca is closed, this will be my new Mexican spot. The food was good and plentiful. There was great music in the background. The service is really fast. It seems they get really busy so they make sure to clear tables fast to sit the next customers. You are served tortilla chips and salsa as soon as you sit. Beware, they are very addicting. Leave space for the amount of food you are about to get with your meal. I had the Carnitas. It comes with rice, beans, a small salad with guacamole on top, and of course the juicy chunks of pork all on the same plate. The food was very good but I couldn't finish it all. I have some left over for lunch :) The place is decorated with paintings of Mexican tradition. It is very colorful but fun. Las Margaritas is located at the back of a shopping plaza. There is plenty of free parking. Its a great spot to grab something quick to eat while shopping.

Since I moved to NJ in 1993, I've been looking for a great Mexican restaurant. Finally, after 17 years, I found it! I grew up in San Diego and that means I was exposed to variety of great authentic Mexican food. Therefore, my standards are very high. I ordered the Camarones Vallarta and it is so delicious. It's very flavorful, but not salty. Usually, after eating Mexican food, I always feel thirsty. As soon as I get home, I would drink a few glasses of water to quench my thirst. I didn't feel this way at all after eating here. The portions are HUGE! I asked the server to give me a "to-go" container as I intended to finish the rest of my dinner the following day. Their prices aren't bad either. The service is phenomenal. The servers are very nice and friendly. I would drive an hour again just to eat here. That's how great this place is...
(5)Stephanie S.
I read below that someone said the old owners of El Azteca opened up this place. I'm not sure where you heard that, but I met the owners before the place was even open. The one guy still manages the place. They have a chain of these, and they are actually from Mexico. I got take out from here once, and I ordered one of those choose your own combo plates. I felt like I got a bowl full of mush. Everything was all the same ingredients just put together in different ways and called different items. It was a bowl of mushy beans, cheese, tomatoes, and tortillas. It wasn't very appetizing.
(1)Juanita P.
If a place is called Las Margaritas, they'd better have phenomenal margaritas and this place lived up to it's name. They serve big portions of food so you get your money's worth. If you come from Mexico, CA or TX, you'll have higher standards when it comes to authentic food so I recommend to order anything else other than the tacos because the carne asada lacks flavor and is dry. I have to rate a 4 out of 5 because it would be unfair to rate based on West Coast standards. For what I can find in Philly, this is the spot to get your fix. I love Las Margaritas' cheese enchiladas... mmm, sooo cheesy. I also like their camarones del diablo.
(4)Daria M.
A friend and I started going here awhile ago but kept feeling weird after. I finally realized how much frickin sodium is in the food! The beer selection is great (yeah modelo!) but the food is lacking. Plus they have had run ins with the health department inspection violations in the past and their wait staff was variable......sometimes you'd get someone helpful but sometimes you get someone with a bad attitude. Just beware, if you plan to eat here a lot, you might want to be hitting the retro fitness next door beforehand. :p Oh, and we ordered pick up once and they messed it up to the point we had to go back so make sure and check your food if you order, especially if you have any kind of special request.
(1)SC W.
My favorite Mexican restaurant, portions are LARGE and cheap, and the food is delicious, they have genuine Mexicans working at this restaurant, I only gave it 4 stars because there's not really any space to wait for seating, but besides that this place is awesome!
(4)C B.
This isn't any taco bell, or on the boarder for that matter. Great Mexican food, service, and atmosphere. If you are going on the weekend be prepared to wait; however, I know they have another location at 2nd Street Pike and Street Road. Love it here, love it, love it!
(4)Tracey J.
I love their food! Not too crazy about the cheese they serve with their food, but overall it's great! The margaritas make you understand why it has its name. They are the best I've tasted!
(5)Jimmy V.
The food is decent but not great. The biggest issue is the wait and lack of room inside to do so. On a weeknight maybe worth while but the weekend its just far to crowded to be worth it.
(2)Abel M.
I have to say this is one of the better mexican restaurants in the area. It's small and local but the food rivals that of any chain food restaurant and is very good. If you like to drink there's a small bar where you can order drinks as well but the food is the highlight here. It's a great place to go eat with family and friends. I also see plenty of people here bring their dates here to eat as well. The only drawback here for me is that a lot of mexican dishes use a lot of cheese in their ingredients and I happen to be lactose intolerant. That being said while delicious I often go for the less tasty dishes with a minimal amount of cheese instead.
(4)Lenny D.
big drinks and big meals.
(4)Moira M.
I don't love Las Margaritas, but it'll do when I am in the mood for some fajitas and don't feel like driving too far.
(2)Corey P.
Mexican food is my absolute favorite type of ethnic food. I have tried numerous Mexican restaurants, but Las Margaritas is the one that keeps me coming back for more. It is close to my home, has very reasonable prices, the food is served in large portions, and is absolutely delicious. The margaritas are reasonably priced, and are very satisfying. The complimentary tortilla chips are always fresh and warm, and the salsa is always freshly homemade. The time between ordering your food and receiving it can be a little lengthy, but the weight staff keeps you satisfied with frequent drink and chips/ salsa refills. If you are looking for a great lunch special, they serve half of the items on the menu for only $5 during lunch hours. Because it is the complete package, Las Margaritas is one of my top 5 go-to restaurants.
(5)Brian P.
the food here is authentic Mexican , Mexican chefs actually do the cooking for a real traditional Mexican feast , I've tried almost everything on the menu, and never had a complaint !
(5)Kris K.
Good prices and huge portions. The dinner crowd is thick so you should be prepared to wait a while. The bar area isn't very large, but the margaritas are pretty tasty (the night we went) and the sangria is pleasant. Not the best mexican but not the worst. I am partial to all the great offerings in the DC area where I live, but don't mind going here when I visit family in the area.
(3)Marissa E.
I've been going to Las Margaritas since it was a hole in the wall on Bustleton called El Cancun. The food is good, the margaritas are strong (if you don't get the pre-made ones), the portions are generous - two or three meals at least - and the beer selection is awesome. This place may not be totally "authentic" but they use much higher quality cuts of meat than those that are, and there's something for just about everyone on the menu. Even the non-Mexican items on the menu are delicious; they do a mean pasta dish with shrimp, and they don't skimp on the seafood. However, the experience is a lot different during rush times. I try to avoid Las Margaritas on weekends and even some weeknights because it gets PACKED. The service does suffer at times; the waiter I had tonight wasn't very good, but I think the language barrier and the noise level had something to do with it. When it's busy, expect to wait a while for your food while you fill up on chips and salsa. Since there's a huge menu, a few items are weak. My dad had the chicken and chorizo tacos and said they were dry, but they do the classic Mexican dishes very well. My only real complaint is that most of the dishes on the vegetarian menu are mostly cheese-based rather than having a lot of veggies. Las Margaritas is definitely not vegan-friendly, but how many vegans are going out to eat in the Northeast anyway?
(4)Sharon K.
Great Mexican food for the price. Not fancy, but I've enjoyed the many dishes I've eaten here. Comfortable service. Noise level is usually high because it's usually packed with happy diners.
(5)Marcos S.
I'm a regular here :) enchiladas verde are amazing, I get the same dish every time and my frozen monster mango margarita! One will have u nice and buzzed. Most definitely get your money's worth here.
(5)Aasima A.
So good! Yummy, tastes fresh, and HUGE portions! They serve homemade torillas while you wait for your food with different kinds of sauce. They give you the typical salsa, but they also have another red sauce and a super spicey green sauce, both are yum. Seafood is good, and so are the veggie dishes. And everythimng tastes fresh and moist, not like they got it out of a can. Like I said portions are huge, so I have never had dessert there, but maybe one day I'll have the courage. Would definitely recommend. If you keep your eyes open sometimes the paper will have coupons for this place, but they are few and far between.
(5)Arseny R.
Great place, many options and big plates. Maybe not so authentic, but definitely a good place for a filling and tasty meal.
(4)Cristin S.
Whenever I'm in the mood for Mexican and don't feel like driving all the way out to Warminster for Rey Azteca, this place hits the spot. Their margaritas are awesome -- strong, sweet, sour, perfect. Get a pitcher to split between 2 people and you'll both go home buzzed. Well worth the $33. I always, always get the Nachos Grande here. They come on this enormous plate. Ground beef smothered in queso sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, sour cream drizzle, shredded cheese.... omg. I can hardly finish half a plate but they're amazing. Probably the best plate of nachos I've had, anywhere I've ever eaten (including Rey Azteca). I recently orderd these nachos via takeout one night, and was pleased to see how they packaged them. I was expecting that by the time I got them home, they would be a soggy mess I'd have to tackle with a fork. Instead, the beef, queso, and chips came assembled in one container, while all the other toppings (lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, sour cream, shredded cheese) came assembled in a separate container. So you could put it together however you wanted once you got home, and it really saved on the sogginess factor. I was impressed. I also like their crunchy beef tacos. Their salsa is pretty good. My husband likes the "special tacos" with carnitas or carne asada. One of them comes with this fabulous green salsa, it's slightly spicy but not really salsa verde. It's different somehow. I don't recommend the jalapeno poppers, they were big but wayyyy too cream-cheesy. I also was not a huge fan of their chicken enchiladas -- the sauce tastes like canned sauce (not my favorite, ick). Their sangria is also very good!
(4)Evan V.
While the food is decent I've come to realize they don't care about their customers. I made a reservations for 10 people at 7:45 and instead of writing it down all the guy is moan about how everyone has to be there on time. We showed up at 7:30 and the hostess said it will be about 15 minutes, fair enough. We got seated at almost 9 o clock. All the manager had to say was 'well its the hostesses fault' even though its always the same guy managing the resturaunt and obviously the guy I talked to he pinned it on some 19 year hostess. They gave 10 people one plate of nachos to try and make up for cramming us in a makeshift booth. Needless to say I'll never be back
(2)Katie M.
The margaritas are very very yummy but most of the food is a bit bland. However the crab tacos are quite tasty. The service is a bit slow but very friendly
(3)Laura R.
Authentic Mexican. I got the enchilada supreme that I loved ! The entree is huge and can definitely feeds two people . My friend had the Diablo shrimp entree and the spicy warning is not enough for how hot it was ! I like spicy and hot but this was on another level . Too hott in my opinion . Margaritas were great. I will definitely go back .
(4)Brian A.
Very good food, they also have a sister restaurant in Abington called señor salsa you should check that one out.
(5)Jason V.
This is one of our "go-to" destinations because of their consistently delicious food and top-notch margaritas. The one con is that the place can be crazy, noisy and extremely busy on the weekends especially. The service is good; we've been there dozens of times over the years and can probably count on one hand the times we've had less than stellar service. It is also a tad on the expensive side, but as long as they keep the portion sizes and quality on the high side, that's ok, I guess. Pros: good food and drinks, service Cons: noisy when busy, tad overpriced
(4)Katlyn H.
I love their strawberry margaritas. The food and portions are very generous as well. The only bad thing is that they always seem so busy so there's a lot of waiting. But that could be a good thing if it's always crowded right? I love their steaks and fresh chips! I've been a few times with more than ten people and they are very accommodating for groups.
(4)Elliot P.
Well maybe If I never had Mexican food in my life I'd like this place. But I have, and some excellent Mexican food at that. I ordered a carne asada. It tasted like dog food with a hint of tapatio. Not good. Service was slow and forgetful and many mistakes. Apparently the margaritas were good. I wouldn't know. The crowd here is young, loud, and annoying. It was like a sunday night. Plus I later realized that I had been scammed because they charged an automatic gratuity because I had a party of 6 and then i left an additional tip. My fault for not realizing that at the time. I wonder if that happens all the time and these awful waiters actually believe that someone would tip them 33%. The worst part is that I brought the family here who don't know how great Mexican food can be. This place isn't just a bad experience, but for a lot of people who have never had Mexican food before, it's turning them off to the entire cuisine. I know next time I have Mexican now it will have to be for my birthday or something.
(1)Rita G.
Love this place! Always go here when craving Mexican food! The food on their menu isn't the stuff you get at taco bell, this is the real deal. the portions are huge and are definitely made for sharing! so bring 2 or 3 of your friends and load up on the amazing food and great atmosphere! they do get really crowded though, so the earlier you show up, the better.
(4)Mackie E.
Always an above average meal here. The margaritas and piña coladas have never disappointed. I enjoy the lunch specials too! They're usually a good deal also. I usually get the fajitas for $7 which makes you not want dinner. My only disappointment here is the guacamole. I love guacamole and wish theirs was better. It's never salted and it always tastes like it could use more cilantro. I would've gladly given this place 5 stars if it could get it's guac together. Overall, good, cheap Mexican food that leaves you feeling ready for a nap.
(4)Chantel S.
Delicious food! I was about 7 months pregnant when we stopped in to eat. The place was packed but we were seated pretty fast for a table of 4. We ordered table side guac and of course had the free salsa and chips. Both were very good. Being that I was with child I had a virgin mango margarita. It was sooo good. I cannot imagine what it taste like with tequila. The server was very nice. She was patient with us, since the menu is huge we had a hard time figuring out what dish to order, and answered all of our questions with a smile. I had the taquitos and my husband ordered a combo meal where he picked 3 different things. ie burrito, taco, quesadilla, enchilada, etc. He enjoyed his food but was even more excited about the amount of food he was given. It was a lot! My taquitos were good however, we did take out a couple of weeks ago and i ordered the burrito de casa. It came with one chicken and one steak burrito. It was so tasty! It was seasoned just right and the rice and beans were delicious! If you want a good Mexican place to eat at Las Margaritas is it
(4)Gloss G.
Cons- Super crowded & stuffy, very loud & LOTS of "rift-raft" from all over Philly. Usually a VERY long wait for dinner..especially Thurs-Sun. Pros- Very nice servers, tasty, strong margaritas..good food and plentiful for the price.
(3)Vinu J.
Congested, small, and booths are too small. Tacos are okay. I can get better food at the local taco stands. It did not impress me. I need some space.
(3)Joanna R.
The table side guacamole is good, but pricey. yummy and cheap margaritas. The dinner combos are a great deal. Can be pretty crowded (cramped wise) and loud on the weekends, however they usually seat you pretty fast.
(4)Rose M R.
I absolutely love this place! Very clean & what I love the most is that it's family oriented! It can get just a bit loud on the weekend but nothing outrageous! The food IS AMAZING & COMPLETELY FRESH! The waitresses are very nice!!
(5)Miss WineandDine P.
Poor excuse for Mexican food. Clearly, people do my respect authentic Mexican cuisine by choosing to serve cans beans!
(1)Jessica S.
By far one of my most favorite Mexican restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia! The margaritas are absolutely amazing. The amount of food for the price is absolutely great for family and friend get togethers. They do have a happy hour, which I suggest you to get there early because high top tables snd the bar fills up very quickly. Hours fly by while sipping margaritas and eating there free chips and salsa! Great family and hang out restaurant overall A+!
(5)Lydia T.
Love this place! Always go here when craving good food. Try their Everything Nachos which is more than enough for 2-3 people.
(5)Francisco M.
Best authentic Mexican restaurant in Philadelphia. You must have the mango frozen margarita, the first time I had this was at this places yrs ago. Now, you can find the mango frozen margaritas at other places, but is not the same as here. This is the real deal. Best Mexican restaurant in the city for sure.
(5)Sade B.
Based on the food Im giving this place four stars. It was packed and uncomfortable with someone's ass beside my face but I'll go back earlier. I ordered the steak and chorizo soft shell tacos and it was delicious. It had a lot of flavor and plenty of meat.
(4)Tara L.
I love this place!! Amazing margaritas and delicious food! And not expensive at all. Really love the complimentary chips and salsa
(5)Jack H.
I love the Mexican food from this place. More authentic than On the Border. Plus their frozen strawberry mango margaritas are GREAT!
(4)Shaniece M.
Very cheap but also very good drinks are good service is as well. Kid friendly and also great for that happy hour drink.
(4)Ryan S.
This place is phenomenal. From the food to the price to the service, everything is top notch and extremely authentic. Highly recommended to anyone who wants great Mexican food. Be prepared to watch 10-20 minutes to be seated though. This place is always packed.
(5)Nonafenders U.
You will experience a large portion of nicely seasoned, Americanized Mexican food. It is good, it is not fancy, it is really reasonably priced, except for the stupid, not "Large" chips and salsa, for which they are charging a ridiculous $3.50 EACH. You can buy a family-super-size bag of supermarket chips for less, and the amount of salsa was stingy. If you don't like to read and have a tendency to be indecisive, or show up to this restaurant for your first visit and you are famished, the menu is going to make you absolutely bonkers and you will starve. It is WAAAAY TOOO BIIIG, and even repeats itself with multiple items! Everything is called a Special. It's maddening. Guacamole good, real (not fake green watery paste), heavy on onion. The side of hot sauce - where was the heat? The sour cream - weird texture, not smooth enough. Carnitas with tortillas had generous chunks of meat and was surprisingly lean. There weren't enough tortillas, sadly. The rice texture was decent, but with some rather pedestrian carrot-corn-green bean veg. added in. The refried beans were smooth and salty and lovely. Fajita quesadilla with steak was a delicious surprise. The meat had a nice char flavor, the onions were well caramelized, and the corn I was dreading (because, why is it there?) was actually a nicely balanced addition. It also came with rice and a fresh little salad. Yay! The Grande Special is loco. A beef enchilada (no detectable chile flavor, though nicely seasoned beef), a pork tamal (mmm, bigger, please), a chile relleño (a bit watery - the batter didn't stick, the chile sauce had no flavor, really), a chicken taco (totally disintegrated in the hands, only had lettuce and cheese shreds), and a bonus, unexpected refried bean tostada (just OK). Oh, yeah AND Mexi rice and refried beans and a small salad with guac. and sour cream, and also some salsa verde and it was A LOT of food. They missed nothing in our take-out order, though I was nervous because over the phone they seemed super-distracted. They didn't charge Philly take-out tax. The fiancé said it was crowded, noisy and chaotic inside. It was Friday, May 1st, FYI. Don't expect cilantro, chipotle, ancho, serrano, habañero, etc. Expect only pickled jalapeños (maybe fresh), if that. Expect lots of onions. Expect good, but not knock-your-socks-off flavors. We got maybe 6 or 7 meals out of the above, and overall enjoyed it.
(3)Lea S.
Everything I've ordered is delicious. Always hot and wait staff is always friendly. The Con would be that the food and drinks are so good that its always a crowd. Which means longer than usual wait times. Even waiting by the bar gets cramped. Pro we all know how good their food is so we wait..... My favorite things from them right now are shrimp Quesadilla and chicken nachos try them and thank me later :-) !!
(4)Eileen K.
I am not a big fan of Mexican food but everyone I know loves this place. It is always crowded somewhat of a wait. The Margaritas are excellent! Which is why its a great place for girls nights out. They give you a big portion of food and the prices are very reasonable. Great for lunch or dinner.
(4)Tanya M.
Service ok, but the food is amazing!! Super delicious and huge portions for a fair price. Big margaritas that are plenty strong. Usually a bit of a wait but has a great bar. Quac is made table side to taste. This is our new go to place
(5)Natalie D.
This place has the best Mexican food in Philadelphia I love bringing some home too because it taste even better.
(5)Seth F.
Awesome!! Everything is great from the bean dip to the cocktails!! Great Service to boot. A complete package
(5)Marissa N.
Ridiculous amount of food for a reasonable price. The service was also pretty quick. They were quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. We were brought some chips and salsa, they were delicious. I didn't take a picture of the platters. It would have been nice to have even a bit of iceberg lettuce as a garnish or some tomato. We didn't sample any meats, went all bean and cheese. I'm not sure but it seemed like a lot of american cheese stuffed in the poblano and enchilada. If you want a lot of food for your money head on over.
(3)B W.
This place is just the best. Yes, if you go on a weekend, you're going to have to wait for a table. Have a mango margarita while you wait and the time will fly by. The food is always delicious. You can't go wrong with the nachos, I haven't been able to order anything else because they are just so good that nothing else can tempt me. The wait staff is polite and I've never had an issue.
(5)Natasha S.
Love this place! The drinks are awesome and strong. Chips and salsa are popping! Never disappointed when I leave here tipsy, lol!
(5)Erin M.
Awesome bartenders. My margherita is always the way I like it- not weak! Plenty of choices on the menu. I have never been disappointed. I have to mention this. My husband and I went here for lunch a while back. A woman came in and asked the manager is he could spare a meal for her as she had not eaten in days. It was obvious. She wasn't a "fake." I saw that he gave her a nice platter of tacos, rice and beans. A true Christian thing to do. 4 stars for quality food and service
(4)Chris S.
Hornitos margaritas are awesome and very large, and you have to get the crab burrito. It sounds strange, but it's out if this world.
(4)Michael F.
Quick and clean Mexcian food with solid lunch specials. I like the Speedy Gonzales. $6 covers me well until Dinner. When they say a dish contains cheese, be ready for it to be cheesy. Full of cheese that is, not corny. Given is proximity to work for me, I've found myself here on multiple occasions for lunch and enjoyed each trip. I've only had one drink, a margarita (remember, usually go for lunch and have to go back to work) and can say it was solid. They have some awesome happy hours posted, especially for earlier in the week. I've been looking for an excuse to go and hope to find one soon. Until then, I'll be back for another lunch in a week or two!
(4)David D.
Really good Mexican at a great price. The lunch specials are totally worth it. You get large proportions for a great price.
(4)Zanna H.
Giving them back a star because I have gone back a couple of times since and it was better in the quality of the food and really quick service as well. Be warned though that since this is the only Mexican restaurant in the immediate area it get packed most nights and weekends. So expect waits, but that is why they have a bar. ;)
(3)Jarod S.
I've been coming here for a few years now and find the food to be really good... Sometimes even great! Great atmosphere and always friendly service. Be sure to prepare yourself to wait since this place has become pretty popular over years.
(3)Alicia L.
I was truly surprised. The chicken quesdillas were great and the chicken taste as if it was slow cooked in a special sauce. I also ordered a house salad.....made of shredded lettuce and they only had 3 dressings but that wasnt a problem for me.....they had ranch. The chips and dip seemed to be freshly made in house. We also ordered chicken and beef burritos that were good as well. Now the margaritas were surprisingly sweet and strong and 1 will get you to your tipsy level. The mango strawberry and peach were really strong, the banana was just OK. The prices are great and on the door I read margaritas are 2.99 during happy hour. I'll be going back next week!
(5)Cara B.
I go here with my friends a couple times a month. The quesadilla and burrittos are my addiction, along with margaritas...who doesnt love a margarita. Although I think they are getting less strong over some of my past visits. It's really hit or miss with them. Their Lunch Special is awesome, you get a huge delicious filling meal for an extremely low price. It is a small restaurant so depending on the time you go it may be crowded/ have a wait. Typically on saturday and friday nights, especially saturday nights. I live close to here and its always me and my friends go to place to grab food and a drink for a reasonable price. Highly recommend it.

Great food but absolutely horrible service except for 1 waiter (Sam) which wasn't even our waiter gave us more attention then our own waitress. The waitress tried charging and up charging us for items we didn't even order. Take out would have prob been a much better experience. And if you decide to eat in ask for Sam the only attentive waiter I've seen in the place.

Good prices and food. Lunch specials and happy hour are the best part. It gets pretty busy in the evening but I've never waited more than 15 minutes. Definitely worth it. The food is good and filling. Drinks are pretty good too

I love Las Margaritas! Great food, strong drinks, lively atmosphere. The food is delicious! Tasty, authentic Mexican food. And the staff is always friendly. I moved to New York City recently and I've yet to find a Mexican place that's comparable to Las Margaritas.

My wife and I have been here twice in the last six months and have had exceptional experiences both times! We feel that they have really good prices and delicious food! The atmosphere is a little loud and dark, but don't let that stop you from the great food

When I could eat here it was good. Can't eat much of this kind of food anymore, getting old...lol. There chips are a bit greasy but they were good. There guacamole is delicious. I would just get a bowl of it not where they make it in front of you. That cost more and doesn't taste much different. There burritos are good but sometimes they put to much onion in for me. There tacos are very good. There refried beans are very good and their rice. Best mexican food around.

Fun looking little place; banquet party room in the back and a full parking lot. My table was poorly lit, but I managed to order a Salmon Burrito - grilled salmon fillet, garlic, peppers, onions and mushrooms. Wrapped in a large tortilla, topped with low-fat cheese sauce. Served with Mexican rice and small salad. The good was very good - prices were kind of high and my server was sort of pushy and rude. Sometimes, that makes all the difference in the world. Still, not a horrible stop.

Went there with family group of seven with gand mom and a teenager! Guacamole at the table was out of sight! One tame and one spicy! The adult Texas Margaritas were great and everyone loved their food. We'll be back Only 4 stars because it's a little tight!

The food is delicious and cheap and plentiful, which is why I wanted to give it four stars. (The menu is overwhelming, and it's all so delicious that I usually do a "pick three" option so I can bring home leftovers!) The refried beans are the stuff of dreams. And if you go there for lunch, it's definitely four stars. But I made it three stars because, for dinner, it's extremely crowded and noisy inside (the tables are very close together, and the booths are pretty cramped), and a wait for a table can be really, really long. Normally I'm not that picky, but I find myself choosing to go elsewhere because it can be very unpleasant to wait an hour for a table and then be a foot away from a very loud and obnoxious group of people. Plus, the service is pretty average and can be incredibly slow. But the refried beans and the margarita pitchers nearly make it worth it.

Love love love this place! The drinks are fantastic, the service is the fastest I've ever seen in a busy restaurant, the food is delicious and huge portions for a great price. The atmosphere is nice, just be warned to come early and expect a wait from Fri-Sun in the evenings. It's worth the wait lol

I went to Las Margaritas on Friday and the food was AWESOME as always. I took my niece and great niece there for the first time and they LOVE IT. Whenever, I am near there, I will grab a bite to eat. The price is reasonable and the food was excellent.

My favorite place to go! The food is so fresh and authentic. Oh my goodness I love the chicken tortilla soup. Let's not forget about the margaritas, the best ever! You have to go early because it fills up fast in there, but if you have patience you will not be disappointed.

The pitcher of margaritas we ordered seemed watered down, but was tasty. I loved the chips and salsa provided and couldn't stop snacking on them. The atmosphere was pleasant, more for intimate gatherings than large parties but works for both. Decor was cute and theme based. The staff was attentive and the owner came out to see how everyone was doing.

Mmm, had such a delicious lunch here today. I'll be looking for an excuse to come back again soon! I had the enchilada verde and and chile relleno. I would lie to try the chimichanga maybe next time. The reason for 4 stars...weak ass margaritas!!! Only during my initial first visit here did I ever get a well made margarita where I could taste the alcohol! Generally a regular margarita is made with 1.5 - 2 shots of tequila. I can't taste any in their blended margaritas. Last time my husband and I ordered a regular margarita and the sweet and sour mix tasted off. :( This time I ordered a regular strawberry margarita, which I asked for a extra shot of tequila on the side, because the blended margaritas taste good but I haven't been able to taste the alcohol in them the last couple visits. Again, my margarita tasted like no alcohol and I question whether any was added. When I added my shot of tequila I could taste the tequila ... hmm. Then they didn't charge me for the shot of tequila so I think they just put it on the side and the margarita was virgin. I can make a better margarita at home. This is a problem. Not enough to keep me from coming back for the food though. The rice and refried beans are on point! The food is phenomenal .... I only wish the margaritas could hold a candle to it.

Had lunch here the other day and it was delicious! You get a lot of food for a great price so come here hungry. I gave it 4 stars because the seating is a bit cramped and I felt like other diners were on top of me while I was trying to eat.

Came here last night as a second time. I absolutely love it! I had fish tacos and it was just perfect. I will definitely come back for some Happy Hour as I've heard they were good.

Las Margaritas is where I go if my husband and/or mother in law (who are Mexican) aren't cooking. Of course I. can't give 5 stars because mom's homemade Mexican food will alway be the best. Las Margaritas is a really fun colorful restaurant with huge portions of authentic Mexican food. None of that Tex Mex stuff. The enchiladas and burritos are delightful. The house made chips and salsa are fresh and the maegarita specials are awesome. The ricecand beans are so perfectly cooked and the meat is always juicy. It's perfect comfort food and surprisingly inexpensive. We'll always come back!

A couple of us girls got together and decided to dive into some drinks after a movie. It was Saturday, around 4 or 5pm and definitely crowded, but not a long wait. We grabbed the first margaritas at the bar and probably 15 minutes later we had a table. The booths were cozy and the drinks were strong. My two favorite dishes on the table: Queso Fundido and the Chicken Nachos. Best friggin chicken nachos I've had in a long time. Everything was perfect about them; the layers were evenly proportioned with the cheese, chicken and peppers. The flavors were mouthwatering. And the Queso Fundido- you'll want to lick the bowl.. Several margaritas later and you're ready to go and will happily come back.

My girlfriends and I needed to find a new Mexican restaurant to go to since the best one (in our opinion) moved out of Montgomery Mall. My friends both ordered taco salads and they did enjoy their food. I had tacos and in all honesty, I cannot remember what kind of tacos I had. Normally when they are really great, I remember them...they were obviously not great. My mother came with us and she had tacos de camaron. She said it was just okay. We did order two desserts so we could split. I really wanted the brownie bottom pie. Low and behold they were out of it. So instead I decided on the fried ice cream (I have always wanted to try something new). It was scrumptious. To me Las Margaritas isn't great but it's not bad. However, it won't be a frequented haunt of ours.

I love this place the food is always on point and I have never had a bad meal!! Great price for great food!! The only issue is it's very small and can get really loud especially during the dinner rush.

I love Las Margaritas!!! I've been coming here for years and I've never once been disappointed. Some of my faves are the tableside guacamole, crab queso, Pina coladas, fajitas, quesadillas, especially the veggie quesadilla that's amazing, and their banana changes dessert OMG!!!! I always have fast and friendly service and their lunch specials are out of this world, cheaper than a fast food drive-through and 100 times better!!!! Highly recommend this place

Great Mexican spot in the Northeast, definitely recommend you stopping in. There's options for everyone and everything I've tried on the menu has been delicious. Because it's popular, it's often full and noisy. Service is friendly and typically quick despite the crowds.

Been going here for years;) can't beat the food and the staff is right on top of the game

Rude manager and staff. Gave us another tables food and argued that's what we ordered. My water glass had a previous patrons lipstick on it and my food had an after taste of dishsoap. It's always packed and busy in there and I've tried this place 3 times just because it's so popular but more and more disgusted and mad every time
