Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

A reasonably priced place in the Fitler/Rittenhouse area with large portions and good hours? That's 4 stars regardless of the quality of the food. Fortunately for Gusto, I've been pretty impressed with the food as well. It may not be hand-massaged wine-infused grass-fed urban-raised beef (although I'm pretty sure at least one of the Italian meats they use has some wine flavor in it), but it's simply darn good, quite filling food. One thing I like in particular is the dough they use for the pizzas and calzones--it's got just the right amount of greasiness and tastes pretty good by itself. Service has been alright--they are a family business it seems and don't always have people at the register--but orders are ready for pickup when they say they should be (unlike some other businesses in the nearby area) and are always hot and fresh.

Tried a large cheese pizza and was not impressed. It was just overly cheesy and super greasy! The crust had decent integrity. For $10.50, the price is reasonable though. You could pay a lot more in the area, but you'd get a much better pizza (eh hem vetri)
(3)Cody Y.
Excellent neighborhood pizza at an affordable price. With dozens of great pizza places in Philadelphia, the competition is stiff. Gusto Pizzeria is one of the better pizza places in the area - excellent ingredients, a friendly staff, and reasonable prices. My friends and I ordered the Margherita pizza (16' is $15.40) with mozzarella, fresh basil, Romano cheese and red sauce. The crust is the perfect balance between thin crust and thick, with excellent tomato sauce to cheese ratio to boot. It was tasty and made quickly. Gusto offers some of the best pizza in town, and certainly the best in the nearby area. A must-try for good traditional pizza without all that hipster nonsense.

I really love this place, and not just because it's about a 3 minute walk from my apartment. Everything I've had from Gusto has been tasty and pretty affordable. This past weekend I ordered 3 large pizzas for pickup, they had them ready in 20 minutes on a Saturday night and my total was $39. Not bad at all. The ingredients are great too, they used portobello mushrooms on my mushroom pizza and the crust was on the thinner side and crispy (a huge plus for me). I absolutely would give them 5 stars if they accepted credit cards. I'd also order from them more often if they accepted credit cards.

I took two young children to Gusto last night and had a great experience. The waitress was super attentive and kind. She brought coloring books for the kids and made sure we had everything we needed before the food came. The mozzarella sticks were good and the chicken fingers were great too. Their food was average but I think it's because we didn't get their specialty... Pizza! Next time we will go back and get a pie and update our review. The prices are super reasonable and I will return!

Loved the Primavera veggie pizza. Really fresh quality ingredients. Did take out. Was promptly ready in 10 mins.
(4)Sumita R.
This place has great pricing on their daily specials. My boyfriend and I got hoagies for take out and they were huge portion sizes. The service is fast and the ingredients are fresh which is a huge plus. Can't help wishing for just a little more flavor though. Other than that, a reliable takeout or delivery place.

It's not often that you feel like you've had the best pizza of your life.. and this is one of those places where you can have the at feeling again and again and again!! A family run small business, the ambience is cozy, and the food is to die for. Even the simplest cheese pizza is wonderful, comes fresh and hot out of the oven with cheesy goodness trickling down the side. Would definitely recommend their Rustica pizza. The pesto just takes it to another level!! One of our regular no-disappointment places!
(5)Beth K.
I recently moved in right near Gusto, right around the time my inner New Yorker had pretty much given up on finding fabulous, super convenient pizza in Philly. And then: we ordered their primavera pizza. It's so good that we're eating way too much pizza lately. Plus, their Ceaser salad comes with three types of different croutons. Totally increases the value of my house.
(5)Casey L.
This pizza is phenomenal!! We ordered the veggie pizza to dine-in and brought wine since it's BYOB. Great crust, tons of cheese, and lots of delicious vegetables on top. Definitely coming back soon!
(5)Sharee W.
Really good pizza at a really good price. All the veggies tasted really fresh. I will definitely go back for more.
(4)Alisa R.
Between the friendly and accommodating service and the great pizza selection it was a great experience all around. I had the Primavera (veggie) pizza and added black olives. The veggies were fresh and the crust was on the thinner side, which I prefer.
(5)Eli C.
Excellent (Greek, I think?) pizzeria entire menu is high quality, great salads. Best pizza in that area along with Lazaro's. The vegetable calzone is quite delicious. Italian hoagie is legit. I've eaten here 50+ times and never been disappointed once. Also you can have a pleasant meal with friends and bring a bottle of wine.
(4)Stephen W.
Standout quality ingredients every time. There are a lot of pizza places nearby, but one look at the food these folks deliver and you realize there is no reason to order from anyone else.
(5)Bryce B.
BYOB, proper stemware for your first growth Bordeaux and pizza pairings. Friendly staff, cool, wine lover owner, quality ingredients. Delicious everything. Love this place. A+
(5)Amy S.
This place was really delicious. I had the chicken fingers wrap, and it was tasty! comes with a little side of chips, I would recommend that. My boyfriend got the cheesesteak, and that was good too. I took down a star because it's cash only, and I never carry cash. they do have an ATM, but meh. staff was nice! I want to go back and try their pizza.
(4)Brittany M.
Went here for lunch today and loved it! I ordered the white pizza with pesto and tomato which was delicious (and cheap!) I will definitely be going back here!
(5)Sarah S.
Four stars because they let me and my friend use their restroom. We don't know how good their food is but that bathroom was perfect especially for moderately small size of the place. The soap my favorite, it smelled so good! Honestly, I'm going to have to go back and actually eat there just for how wonderful my bathroom trip was. Seriously, thank you!!
(4)Brandon K.
Gusto is a solid place to get some hoagies. The Italian hoagie is filled with delicious meats, sharp provolone, lettuce and tomato. The pizzas are fair but not spectacular. I actually really like their curly fries. The coupons you get with your order are also a great value.
(3)Ed R.
Steak sandwiches are STILL only $5.30. Huge amount of meat for the price. I can't imagine this price will last much longer. Very comfortable neighborhood place.
(5)Andrew R.
My wife and I just had one (huge) garden salad and a meatball hoagie to split. We are stuffed and happy and only spent $16 including tip. Meatballs are spicy and salty. I'd recommended ordering it with extra sauce. Blue cheese dressing was bland. I'll be back. Just what you'd want in a neighborhood joint .
(4)Danny O.
I've only ordered pickup from Gusto Pizzeria once... so I'm not an expert on them, but the small pepperoni pizza I ordered was one of the best I've had in Philly. It's not the typical bland pizza that you get from a lot of the other pizza shops. Very thin and tasty. The buffalo fries were also very good. Again... better than the typical food you'll get at your average pizza place in Philly. I ordered hot buffalo fries and they didn't just drown the fries in hot sauce to make them "hot," which is what often happens, to the point that you can't stand the overwhelming amount of buffalo sauce. These were very tasty with a good amount of spice. And it only took about 10 minutes or so for my order to be ready, so very efficient. But I ordered during the afternoon so probably not a peak hour. Very good experience though.
(5)Rachel Y.
Tried Gusto Pizza for the first time this past Friday night, after a full day of moving into a new apartment nearby. We ordered a white pizza with pepperoni and I kid you not, this was one of the best pizzas I've ever had, rivaled only by the classic margherita from Gusta Pizza in Florence, Italy. The white pizza was garlicky/cheesy perfection and the crust was just right. Do yourself a favor and run - don't walk - to try it yourself!!!
(5)Andy C.
I have dined in, picked up and had delivery ~25 times. Everything one could ask for in a neighborhood pizza joint. Pizza is great and cheap. Sandwiches are fresh. Delivery is prompt. Food is high quality, especially relative to prices Only gripe is that it is cash only. However, if you order through grub hub, credit cards can be used.
(5)Yeeun K.
This place is absolutely amazing. Best pizza place in Philly!! They have the most fresh, hot(you can almost burn your tongue), nice price, and good service!!!! Their mushroom pizza is my favorite but ALL of their menus are awesome!!!
(5)Brandon O.
I've ordered from Gusto for years. I love Gusto. I live 3 blocks away. The food is pretty fucking good. The delivery service is awful. I've had bad delivery experiences in the past, but I've never written about it. Today, however, is different. The camel's back goddamn broke. The dude that delivered my food, as soon as he saw me, told me to "get outside more because it's sunny". Then, i gave him a $1.50 tip on a 15.60 bill, which also includes a $1.50 delivery charge, and he said "That's it, man?" I wound up giving him 2 bucks, after which he said, "Dude, get outside." Moron doesn't realize that delivery gives him money. I'm never ordering delivery again.
(1)Nico L.
Decent little dive of a pizza joint. They are fast and that's about it. The pizza crust lacked flavor, but the sauce and toppings were great. Had a pizza Gusto and BBQ Chicken pizza. The BBQ needed a bit more chicken, but the gusto was perfect. I'd stop in here for a slice, but I won't go out of my way to go to it again
(3)Megan K.
Just moved a few blocks away and found this in a hurry. Haven't had much luck enjoying many pizzerias in Philly, but this place was pretty delish. Nothing extraordinary, but was exactly what we were looking for when we needed a last minute night in dinner.
(4)Pit P.
I work near by this place for long time before even this place opened, & I'm really pizza fan. I tried their Pizza 4 times so far, but still i don't like their test. It's really horrible.!!! Owner is ok but staffs are not cleaned. Usually if I go to Mama Palma's brick oven pizza place right around corner on 23rd & spruce St., they're really really good pizza place but problem don't open for lunch. Gusto :"The worst pizza!"
(1)Anne D.
I'm really glad we found this place after our move. They are quickly becoming our go to for Friday night take out night. We've had delicious pizza, great sandwiches and perfect apps. Their prices are great and service is friendly. Cash only so don't forget your wallet!
(5)Alexa S.
Gusto's is right around the corner from my apartment, so it's our go-to pizza and wing joint. Since it's so close I've never eaten in the small dining area and always place an order for pick-up. The pizzas are decent, not the best I've had but their calzones are top-notch. Slightly buttery crust with hints of garlic and a nice crunch, and the inside is always soft with gooey cheese and fresh veggies and/or good quality meats. I also love their wings and mozzarella cheese fries are a staple for my boyfriend, though he seems to always regret his order, not because it doesn't taste good...just the shame that comes along with scarfing down fried foods, haha. The chicken caesar wrap is also on-point, it's grilled chicken breasts with fresh lettuce, tangy dressing and parmesan cheese. The only downside to their wraps and sandwiches are the boring chips that are served as the side. Beware, it's cash only but Gusto's does offer a 10% discount to students with a valid ID - bonus!
(4)Kate R.
Gusto never lets me down. So fresh and delicious. I had a pizza-shaped void in my heart after moving here from Brooklyn-- and this is the closest you're gonna get in Philly. And what is it, $5 or $6 for a small cheese? Can't be beat. Wings are okay. Salads are average for a pizza joint. Service is usually pretty fast. But that cheese pizza... mmmm... melts my heart. I usually order in, but bonus points for BYOB :)
(5)Carl C.
I pass this place everyday on myway home and finally gave it a shot. .... I wasn't all that impressed... The people in their are super nice and the young women working were nice to look at while I waited for the slices to be cooked. Just average pizza really. I ate two pieces with toppings and was still hungry. That shouldn't be the case. $5 though.... I wavered on 2 stars but the convenience of doubl eparking and running in real quick gave them a three.
(3)Hungry D.
Went for the first time, got the Italian Sausage Calzone and the Italiano to go. Definitely can't wait to go back and try some other stuff on the menu. The calzones were large and stuffed with delicious meats and cheeses. I was impressed by the quality of ingredients, especially in the Italiano.
(4)Jordan P.
I love making pizza at home. I have total control over size, toppings, crispiness, and any last minute changes I need to make. That being said, sometimes, you need someone else to take care of you. And when that someone lives almost next door, well, all the better. I stumbled onto Gusto shortly after moving, sweaty and miserable from unpacking, when all I wanted was a little comfort in a pizza box. And Gusto delivered (well, not literally, though they do offer delivery. I live so close it would be ridiculous to get it delivered.) Since then, I've been hooked. If you happen to be in the area, the Wednesday special is a fantastic and affordable lunch treat, $5.50 for a personal pizza and can of soda. Or, grab a buddy or a date and head over Tuesdays or Thursdays for double chicken cheesesteaks (T) or cheesesteaks (R) and 2 cans of soda for $10.50. Even if you're not gunning for a daily special, the price point at Gusto is a bargain. Most of the basic pies are $8 or less for the small 12" and $10-13 for the large. They have a bunch of specialty pizzas that I've never tried, wooed instead by the flavorful pepperoni or my most recent discovery, white with pesto and tomato. Salty, garlicky, with juicy tomatoes and creamy ricotta, that white knocked it out of the park. My only issue with Gusto: The staff is hit or miss. I've had an incredibly friendly cashier and a MISERABLE few, so just hope that you're lucky that day. Bonus: Gusto, like a fine wine, gets better with age. Well, at least in the case of cold pizza the next morning. If only they were open around 8am, I could see this becoming my hangover-breakfast spot too. Oh well, a girl can dream... Cash only, y'all.
(4)Carrie J.
Gusto makes a delicious white pizza. A definite crowd-pleaser. I usually get it with Italian sausage, but the plain white is nicely cheesy and savory. The downside is that it is cash only.
(4)Matt G.
Went tonight for dinner and was extremely impressed. I went with a bottle of wine and my girlfriend, which is an appropriate place to bring both. I was greeted by a waitress who dealt with rowdy Erin Express drunks all day, which by her demeanor you would never be able to tell. She allowed us to seat ourselves anywhere, by which we chose the window seat near the door. After ordering a Caesar salad, we were waited on hand and foot getting our wine opened and ice for our drinks. Before we knew it our oversized salad arrived. We ordered an Italian calzone the temperature started to drop as the door was still open from the beautiful day we had. Upon asking to shut the door, the curtious waitress complied and took it upon herself to turn on a space heater to accommodate our chill. Couldn't ask for more, besides the overly honest opinion that a calzone would be more than enough for the two of us, when we considered ordering more food. Most waiters/waitresses would have tried to have us order more food, resulting in a bigger tip. Overall the food was exceptionally tasty, not greasy and super filling/satisfying. The service was memorable and I will be retuning to not only eat in but also take out.
(5)Drew B.
After moving to Philadelphia, I was so surprised with the lack of tasty "New York" pizza. Gusto changed my impression entirely. The calzones and pies are delicious. Grub hub and go!
(4)A B.
Hidden gem - it doesn't look too promising from the outside (or even on the inside), but the pizza is terrific. It's BYOB, so if you can get a spot at one of the few tables, it's a good place to stop for a casual dinner or late lunch. I typically order the Pesto Zucchini or the Gusto. The toppings are always fresh, plentiful, and the crust is perfect. I was really disappointed with my Vegetable Calzone, but only because it didn't come with any marinara sauce inside - they could do a better job describing that in the menu description, or even confirming it over the phone. I've never had a calzone without sauce in it, unless it was described as a "white" calzone. Cash only can be a bit of a headache, but if it keeps the prices down, then it's fine. If you need a receipt, be sure to ask - they will hand write one for you, but they don't typically provide copies. This was problematic when I was ordering for a work function, but they were quick to offer a hand-written receipt with no complaints. The coupons are a good deal, especially the Monday night - check their website and be sure to print the coupon before you go! The service is always extremely quick, but pizzas are always hot and clearly fresh - they don't sacrifice quality for speed. Our neighborhood is missing a pizza-by-the-slice place - if Gusto started offering pizza by the slice, I'd bump it up to five stars :)
(4)Jay A.
Thier quality has gone down lately. We got the parm and a pizza and both were pretty bland.
(2)Shereen C.
Great neighbourhood joint with solid pizza. Calzone was tasty and crusty. I usually get a warm rustic Italian sandwich, though. Eggplant parm is tasty. Sausage, peppers and onion sandwich is great. The cheesesteak is pretty good also -- way better than Jim's, Pat's, etc. Mozzarella sticks are cooked just right. Everything I've had here is tasty, fresh, good. Good service, friendly and efficient. Very reasonably priced.
(4)Nicholas D.
One the best pizza places in the city! The ingredients are fresh and unique and the crust crispy. The white pesto pizza is awesome!
(5)Rajani P.
Gusto is our go to place for thin crust pizza. It never seems to take too long for delivery, and it always taste yummy. Only downside: No Whiz for their curly fries. Oh well. Cash only!
(4)Alex P.
This place is great! The waitress was so sweet and accommodating. My friend and I brought some wine and hung out for a while and we never felt rushed, even though we kept drinking long after being done our food. We got the zucchini pizza and it was DELICIOUS. The olives on it were a great touch. We're two pretty small girls and we topped off a whole 16" pie. Overall, laid back vibe, great service, very tasty pizza.
(5)Ortho D.
I lived in Philadelphia for 7 years, 2005-2012. I have had many meals at Gusto's. Almost everything on the menu is worth the price and is good. I love the bread. My first choice off their menu when I first began eating here was their calzones. They are incredible and filling; usually would make it into two separate meals. All are good and you can add and subtract what you want from them. The pizzas are wonderful as well. The curly fries are to die for. The meatball sub is also good too. My last 3 years in Philly, I lived 30 seconds away from this place. So this was my usual go to for dinner, especially since they were open til about 9pm. Just remember cash only!! Student discount is a plus as well :)
(4)Jamie S.
The chicken parm is made with grilled chicken pieces instead of fried chicken cutlet. The addition of sharp provolone gave me something else to focus on. The bread used in both sandwiches is a delicious toasted sesame, perfect for absorbing the tomato sauce and holding up to it. Having the eggplant, in the eggplant parm, in slice form rather than careless blobs is more refined. The eggplant was sweet without any hint of bitterness, nice job. The eggplant parm comes with mozz instead of provolone, which complements the eggplant better. On both sandwiches, Gusto does not skimp on the cheese. Both sandwiches are only $6 each and they are pretty big. Students get 10% off with IDs and their website has some solid coupon action including 50% off your second sandwich, check it out.
(3)August T.
We ordered two pizzas there - pepperoni and their gourmet white. Pepperoni was very good, but the white was GREAT. If you like white pizza this is the place. We even took it to go, but the 3 blocks back didn't do any harm!
(5)Eric J.
Is one Pizza enough? This is the pizza lover's perennial question. Technically, we should only eat portions the size of our fist. But when the pizza is as delicious as Gusto's, a fist sized portion sounds like puritanical bullshit that should go the way of witch trials. The service is exemplary. The waitresses are personable and helpful. I suspect this is so because the owner seem to be a genuinely nice guy ready to smile and chat about anything. You can choose between a small or large pizza. The menu boasts quite a few topping options. And the wait isn't too long. Unlike every other restaurant straddling Rittenhouse, the prices are reasonable. But the location is snug. I could hear the group next to me gossip about some poor medical student who was caught cheating on an exam. I really didn't want this to be my soundtrack to me cheesy, meaty, bready perfection.
(4)hiro m.
pizza margherita is great. i get is every time. regular pizzas here are good too, but really, get the mergherita every time. the music they play is off the owner-cum-pizza maker's ipod and is pretty trippy. there's a 10% student discount on an already cheap price.
(5)Grace S.
Eating in, the crust is very crunchy and the actual bread crunches as you take each bite. Hot out of the oven, the pizzas are very tasty. Tonight I tried the BBQ chicken, the gusto (sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and prosciutto) and a sausage, eggplant and red onion pizza. The bbq chicken is tasty but boy do they pour on that bbq sauce. They also keep the tomato sauce on there so if you find this crazy, make sure you tell the waitress how you like your bbq pizza. The sausage was a little disappointing but the eggplant and onions were yummy. The gusto was a never-again for me--where was the prosciutto?? and I find that artichoke hearts on pizza with tons of cheese and tomato sauce don't really go well together. I find the tomato sauce they use to be quite yummy with lots of tomato flavor and a little sour. The broccoli bites are filled with melted cheese and broccoli but there is too much fried "stuff" on the outside and so I feel like I'm just eating fried breading with orange green stuff in the middle. The salads are as basic as you can get. The caesar has nothing on it except bad croutons (slightly stale with no flavor) with very heavy dressing and the greek salad had romaine lettuce, feta, bad kalamata olives, red onions and anchovies. If you want a proper salad with your pizza, go to Mama Palma. Also, this place does great prompt delivery even to University City, which is great for school functions or parties! There isn't much seating inside and it feels like a typical pizzeria (super casual and you can see the employees working with the big ovens), and I think most people just take out here.
(3)Matthew E.
Fresh ingredients. Pizza is good, maybe even a little better than good. But this place absolutely shines with their calzones. You will not be disappointed in the buffalo chicken calzone, which I'm not even sure is even on the menu, but one of the best bread-cheese-combo-items I've had in a really long time.
(4)C J.
For me restaurants are about service and food. Gusto does an amazing job on both. The waitress that is usually there is great. She always has a sunny disposition and brings water out for our dog, when we sit outside. The pizza is very tasty and my friends highly recommend their salads. If you want a relaxed, tasty experience, visit Gusto.
(5)Ethan S.
I'll start this off by saying that I like pizza with a thicker, NY-style crust. A lot of pizza places in Philly (Gusto included) tend to make their pizza crust very thin. While this isn't a bad thing, it's not what I prefer. With that said, if that's your style (or if you order any of the non-pizza things), Gusto's a great, quick, clean place to get some food from.
(3)Libby G.
Just ordered from here for the first time the other day, the girl who answered the phone/took my order was kinda rude and sounded miserable but the delivery was quick and the pizza was perfect. So glad that I finally found a great delivery place near my work!
(5)Jenn V.
Ordered here on a whim the other night - called in a pizza order for a Large white pie with ricotta, tomatos, and spinach. Pick-up time was quick for a Saturday night (25 minutes) and we found coupons online for $2 off a large pie! Arrived and noticed they didn't add the ricotta to the order- they didn't charge us for it, and we didn't feel like waiting longer for it to either be remade or added to the already made pie so we didnt say anything. Overall, the pizza was pretty good - lots of cheese to compensate for lack of red sauce on a white pie and the ingredients tasted very fresh. The price wasnt bad, especially with the coupon. Overall, I will probably try it again in hopes they can get the order right and can redeem themselves- I can always use another neighborhood pizza place on my list.
(3)Emily W.
This is one of my go-to places in Philly- it's quick, they have a student discount, and they don't skimp on the veggies on the pizzas and sandwiches. My absolute favorite there is the grilled chicken Italian sandwich "vegetarian style." It's loaded with bitter broccoli rabe that is balanced by the sweet and tangy roasted red peppers and fresh mozzarella (or provolone). It also comes on Italian style Carangi sesame seed bread which just sets it over the top. The margherita and Gusto pizzas are my second two favorite things- they don't skimp on the fresh mozz. on the margherita and they give you lots of veggies on the Gusto- a rarity for veggie pizzas these days. And for the most part, the service is wonderful. There's just this one cranky lady who always seems to be having a bad day. If you're looking for a quick bite or a casual BYO experience with friends, this is a perfect choice. It's clean and chill. If you're looking for a pizza joint that serves wood-fired pizzas with exotic ingredients and one of those complex, well-nurtured pizza crusts, this probably isn't the place for you.
(4)Marissa N.
First meal in Philly! As we unpacked boxes we ordered the primavera and the gusto both were delicious. They could have been more generous with the toppings but the sauce was flavorful and the dough was the perfect mix of golden crunch with soft chewy innards......mmmmm innards. I drafted this review and then the leftovers were great later in the day and I found myself lamenting that when I rolled off of the air mattress in the morning and the box was empty. I never lament over old pizza so I had to change it to 5 *****.
(5)Laura B.
Very nice pizza; fast delivery which makes it a winner in my book.
(4)Justin P.
I moved to San Francisco in May, and the one thing I miss about Philly is Gusto. At first, I couldn't eat one of their huge calzones in one sitting, but after a few tries I learned that I could. I recommend the sausage calzone or maybe the spinach and zuccini. Both are delicious. Stick to the calzones. I probably spent over a thousand dollars on their calzones in the two years that I lived a block away. Why don't you open an SF branch, Gusto?
(5)Lauren K.
The pizza at Gusto is great! The have a wide variety of ingredients (all of which are fresh). We usually order take-out which is always ready in about 15 minutes but the few times I have eaten there the service has been friendly and efficient. It's also a BYO!!
(4)Sarah R.
I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars, but, so it goes. Gusto is a great lunch in-and-out, and a solid choice for a casual quick dinner. It's cheap, too! As other reviewers have mentioned, they give a 10% student discount - be sure to present your ID when you order. The portions are generous for the price. My standby orders: Red pie with portobello - mushrooms are marinated and not over-cooked. Sometimes I get portobello with eggplant and other veggies, but the portobellos are awesome on their own. Chicken finger wrap - great, simple, tasty. Comes with chips. Broccoli bites - Chopped broccoli and cheese, deep fried. Comes with marinara dipping sauce. Ok, these things aren't that special. They probably come out of a frozen-food bag, but if you need to spend an extra few bucks to real the delivery minimum (probably $10, but I can't remember), they're a pretty decent option. Gusto does have table service, but they do a much bigger business with delivery and carry-out. The service has always been fine for me. The waiters/waitresses (whoever is answering the phones for orders) are pleasant, if a little harried. They're also cash-only, but there is an ATM on site. Note: Philly's finest PPA officers and letter carriers camp out here during inclement weather - dine in on weekday afternoons, observe, and someday you, too, can be just as surly!

Hands down best pizza in Philly. If you're looking for a delicious pizza to carry out or have delivered, Gusto should be your go-to. The sauce is like crack--soooo addicting! And the rest of the ingredients are fresh, and the pizza is almost always delivered before their stated time. As boring as this may sound, the plain cheese is amazing--the white pizzas aren't as good, in my opinion.
(5)Stephanie P.
Dear Gusto, I really do like your food, but lately, in the last two times I've ordered from you, the service has been a little subpar. The first time, I received a plain pizza -- supposed to be pepperoni... alright, I can understand mixing "p" for pepperoni with "p" for plain, but what happened tonight is beyond explanation. We called, ordered a cheesesteak and a grilled chicken sandwich... an order we've placed before several times. Get our order home and we have a cheesesteak, and something that looks like bits of grilled chicken with provolone cheese on bread... that's it. If you check your online menu, it says your grilled chicken sandwich is, "topped with broccoli rabe, roasted peppers, and choice of sharp provolone or fresh mozzrella cheese," funny that's what I've gotten every other time I've ordered. So we call, and the girl who picks up the phone says that on the paper menu what we are describing is the "Italian chicken sandwich" and because the menu changes so often it's hard to update your online menu. Well what if I had an old, outdated paper menu at home? She continues to say that what we got is the grilled chicken sandwich. Okay, fine. Ever heard of the old adage, the customer is always right? Guess not. Now I have to go find things to add to my sandwich to make it a little more appetizing (something I wasn't really up for tonight considering I ordered out in the first place). Thanks. I'll be taking my business elsewhere when I need a quick dinner from now on.
(2)Kathleen D.
I've never had a bad meal at Gusto. I love their pesto chicken wrap, buffalo chicken cheesesteak wrap, and the spinach/ricotta white pizza. Delivery is always speedy and food is reasonably priced. Friendly staff and definitely my first choice for takeout.
(5)Kiki R.
I would've given this four stars, but the service was terrible and unfriendly. The waitress didn't take our drink orders, but just came up to us without greeting and demanded our food order. We had just gotten there and had barely picked up the menu. Then she ignored us for the duration of the meal. I would've been okay with this if it had been crowded, but we were the only ones in the restaurant. The pizza, on the other hand, was fabulous. We got the margherita and it was fresh, savory and had a great sauce. The mozzarella cheese was fantastic - not nasty, tasteless chain pizzeria cheese. It definitely reminded me of my time spent in Italy. The price was pretty reasonable, too. My companion and I shared a small pie, which was just perfect. I'll definitely eat from here again, but I'll probably get takeout.
(3)Chrystelle B.
I've eaten food from here a few times. Their salads are phenomenal: I've tried the antipasto salad and the chicken caesar. The antipasto one is basically an italian hoagie as a salad. The chicken in the caesar salad is always cooked perfectly. Their signature gusto pizza was incredibly disappointing. I felt it was incredibly overpriced for what we actually received. The crust had no flavor and there were hardly any toppings. Will come back for the salads and will probably branch out to their wraps and sandwiches, but I don't think I will be getting pizza from here again.
(3)Lesley G.
Two words: BROCCOLI BITES! Yes, I know that they are standard fare at most of our fair city's Italian joints. But Gusto gives you TEN pieces per order. I like to get two or three orders if I'm having a bunch of people over so that everyone can enjoy the fried gooey broccoli goodness. The roast pork sandwich is pretty great. Super salty but delicious. Pizza is standard. Prices are fair. All said, I'm glad this place is around the corner.
(4)Parisa S.
I love Gusto. The pizza here tastes much healthier and much fresher than any other pizza I've had in Philly. Pizza with less-than-typical guilt is something I always appreciate. Fast delivery, fresh ingredients, friendly service. The only downside is it's cash only.
(5)Leslie B.
It's 3pm on a Sunday. I'm trying to pretend my headache is from caffeine, but it's from too much beer last night. My boyfriend is almost unable to move from lack of food. We don't even have to say it, we already know. It's Gusto time. We sit in front of the window and the waitress with blonde, curly hair (whose name it would be too awkward for me to ask by this point) is wearing an Eagles jersey or a Phillies shirt. She only asks if we want curly fries (she already knows we both want chicken finger wraps, yum), and we usually do. She gets my drink order mixed up with my roommate who comes here often as well and sort of looks like me. She brings us cups of ice and straws for our sodas. We leave satisfied and much more alive than we were when we came in. We don't stray from this pattern too often, but occasionally we order pizza. It's good, but eat it all now; it doesn't reheat well. The fries (curly and regular) and onion rings are probably the most reasonably-priced and always-good option in the area.
(4)David M.
I wanted to like this place so much. It's so cheap and so close to where I live. The reviews were decent. I got takeout, and the small pizza with sausage cost me only $7. Things were looking up! And then I took a bite. It only cost me $7, but it should have been $5. And that probably would have been a stretch. The sausage was that tasteless type that I usually find comes in the flat, larger ovals (as opposed to: A) the small meatball-looking type [Domino's is probably the famous pizza that has this style] or B) sausage that looks like a full sausage was just cooked and diced, maintaining that uneven curve around the edges). The dough was cardboard-y. The cheese was lame. The sauce was sweet but not in a good, interesting way - more in that "is this ketchup?" way. I don't know, maybe I got it on an off night or something, but it was not good.
(1)Fred G.
The white, tomato, pesto is to die for. The crisp is thin, but not too thin, just right!
(4)gigi n.
I think this is a little secret of Spruce and 22nd streets! Amazing sandwiches and pizza. It is also a BYOB place so take a beer to go with your sandwich or your pizza. The quality is good and everything has flavor so enjoy. They are open late ;-)
(4)Jaclyn B.
The food is usually quite good and not at all greasy. Fast service.
(3)Cullen F.
BEST chicken caesar salad! Pizza is very good if you get extra sauce. Trust me, ask for extra sauce. The EMO/Hipster phone clerks really are not my favorite, but I always take out or have it delivered. The crust is better here than most places in philly, and the sauce is a tangy san marzano, that really is delicious. They take checks or cash, no credit. Sandwiches are just ok. Spinach Feta wrap is excellent. So is the Caesar wrap.
(4)Amit K.
Not much more to be said about the quality of the food that hasn't already been said. It's simply great pizza with fast and easy delivery. I ordered the Italian Sausage and it was great. Maybe not the best for people who enjoy thicker crusts as this is pretty much New York style and less thick than chains like Domino's and Papa Johns, etc. Some tips would be to definitely check the website as they have a bunch of coupons that can save you a couple bucks. Additionally, although it is Cash only for dining in or ordering from them directly on the phone, you CAN use credit if you order via grubhub.com . The only downside to doing this is that you wont be able to use any of the coupons. I'm definitely looking forward to trying more of their pies.
(4)Anthony J.
FAIL! I read all these great reviews while trying to find a good place for buffalo chicken pizza, but I got my pizza and it's sloppy and half put together with hardly any buffalo sauce and an overload of pizza sauce! It was gross and had no blu cheese! Horrible pizza!!
(1)Heather C.
I LOVE neighborhood spot Gusto. The veggie calzone is delish, and the red sauce that comes one the pizza and with the calzones is to die for. The BBQ chicken pizza is tasty when you're looking for something more unusual. Service is prompt. Eating in is a no frills BYOB experience. Perfect cheap/quick dinner or lunch spot.
(5)Gregory L.
If this is the best pizza Philly has to offer, I'm moving back to NYC. Various yelp reviews swayed me to try out Gusto instead of heading to Pietro's for pizza last weekend. My girlfriend and I swung by the store for a six pack before heading to this BYOB. There was another couple at the single table outside, so we had the place to ourselves. I must say I was underwhelmed by the pizza - as my girlfriend put it, it couldn't figure out what it wanted to be. Gourmet pizza? Cheap greasy pizza? This was somewhere in between. We had the margherita pizza. The sauce tasted straight out of the can (not necessarily a bad thing for your cheap pizzas), the mozz was pretty good, and there was some fresh basil scattered around. The crust was probably the biggest disappoinment - it had a certain crunch that I associate more with the outside of a loaf of bread than I do with the middle of a pizza crust. Maybe its just my preference but this was kind of like a thick cracker that just didn't cut it for me. Add in a salad and we spent $25, which all things considered ain't bad. I will probably try again at least once more to try a non-pizza item - but with much lower expectations.
(3)Phil D.
Sorry Gusto but a mi no me gusto. The pizza is like bad school cafeteria pizza, the heroes likewise...they actually use super thin slices of cheap provolone on the heroes, and everything tastes and smells like mediocre Chinese takeout. Weird, because the place looks fine but after 2 tries I'm moving on.
(1)Sylvia M.
I'm surprised this has a 3.5 rating!!! Are you kidding me? This might be the best Pizzeria in Philadelphia that is quick, cheap and down to earth! Come on! You can't get any cheaper pizza that tastes as good as this place. I've been here numerous times. It's BYOB! I've had everything from appetizers, pizza and wings. My boyfriend and I ended up at this place because we were trying to find the best wings in town... we tried theirs and honestly, we stopped the search. Everytime we get a craving we come here. I think they have a Monday special, buy a large pizza and get a 2nd one free... AMAZING! Dining in is a must. It's adorable in there but also easy enough to take out. PS they only take cash.. the only bummer!
(5)Karen C.
Favorite pizzeria in Philadelphia! As good as I remember. A little more sauce on the Margarita pizza than I remember, but the sauce is tangy and tomatoe-y. Despite the extra sauce, the crust was crisp and held up with all the toppings....even the center!
(4)Boris M.
Good morning. I lived down street from Gusto 5 years. 6 years. I probably buy something from these people 50 time. I much prefer pepperoni an mushrooms pizza and broccoli rob chicken sandwich. They make my belly warm when I am file . Sometimes the people aren't friendly. They take my money and no look at me eye. The pizza sauce is wo good I cry when I eat. I sometimes eat Gusto and watch American Idle.
(4)Christopher R.
This shares the title with Paolo's for my favorite pizzeria in Center City. If its my call on where to order from I will always choose Gusto--even though I live directly above a perfectly good pizza place. The pies are all thin crust and about halfway to what you might call "gourmet pizza." I've tried the Margherita, Primavera and Gusto specialty pies and even though they aren't mind-blowingly good, I have yet to even come close to disappointment. The calzones and sandwiches are equally delicious. I would recommend the spinach & zucchini calzone or grilled chicken sandwich with broccoli rabe, roasted peppers & sharp provolone. I'm the type of guy who will order and consume an entire thing of cheese fries or pizza fries with a sandwich but the fare here is large and filling enough that I'm willing to abstain. The thing I might like most about Gusto is that if you order on a nice day, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful walk to go pick up your food. BYOB and cash only. (They have an ATM inside, though.)
(4)Everett W.
Their pizza is better than the national chains, but not spectacular. I'm blown away by folks saying it's a good deal. I get it's in a fancy hood so will cost more than South Philly pizza, but I don't think what you get is worth the price. If you're shooting for baseline cheese pizza, it's almost comparable. Add a topping or two and forget it. And boy is Gusto cheap with the toppings. You're lucky to have a few pieces of what topping you choose on each slice. Sometimes not so lucky. I recently tried ordering a double topping on a large pie thinking I was just expecting too much. I received two pepperonis per slice on my $20+ dollar pie? I really really wanted to like their chicken breast and chicken steak sandwiches, which are made with breast meat. But they are always sooo dry, even when they're loaded with gravy (red sauce), I stopped trying. I live nearby and I really did keep trying it as I really wanted to like my local joint. But I found the service hit or miss. One counter staffer on most nights is super nice. Another on other nights is short, snippy and somehow I always pay more for the same thing when she's working. Given their prices, I'd go for either a corner shop a few blocks north (with no delivery fee) for lower end, or brick oven a block away for higher end.
(2)Jeremy L.
Gusto is very well run, clean, and reasonably priced. It is a step-up from that hot, filthy pizzeria in [your neighborhood]. An excellent choice for take-out if you are driving north on 22nd. The staff looks like they actually enjoy working at Gusto. The bike cops eat there a lot. I usually get the Italian hoagie but you can't go wrong with the calzones, pizza, or salad.
(5)Bruce W.
Cheap and quick, and the food is pretty solid. A good go-to place for my neighborhood, though nothing special. Four stars for its consistency over the last year - it's never failed when I wanted pizza or a chicken parm sandwich right away. They have a couple good weekly specials and give a 10% across-the-board student discount. But beware: while the plain pizza is a real steal, toppings can get really expensive. My current favorite here is the chicken finger wrap. BYOB
(4)Nat P.
Have you ever seen the episode of Sex and the City, where Samantha always calls this one chinese restaurant and orders the same thing. And the girl on the phone at the chinese restaurant seems to laugh at her? Well thats my relationship with Gusto. Its like around the corner from me, so what else can I ask for. This is my fall back place when I am getting home late from work. I just call ahead and pick it up. I have never eaten there, but it seems to be semi filled on most nights. Not much to look at inside, but hey, its cheap and good eats. The sandwiches are huge. I love the Traditional Italian grinder. Yum The calzones are great too. I havent had the pizza as yet. Maybe another time. But my mainstays are the chicken caesar salad, the antipasto, and the mozzarella sticks. I know, i know, not really anything fabulous, but I dunno I just like them there. So if you see me walking out of there with a bag, you can probably figure out what i got. Don't laugh at me!
(3)Mimi H.
SO GOOD. we had to eat inside because it was hot as balls out but i dream of the day that it is not the most humid so i can sit outside and eat one of their eggplant parm sandwiches. waitress was super nice, place was clean, and we got our pizza quickly. A+ would eat again.
(4)Robin C.
Great food. I took the advice from other yelpers and tried the chicken finger wrap. Yum and for a good price too. I also got some pretty great curly fries for a really cheap price. I'm considering going there again tonight haha. The staff was really friendly and it's right around the corner so it's a great place in my boat.
(4)Tim D.
Ok so I used to have good things to say about Gusto until....I was basically told to leave because they needed my table. I wasn't even done my soda! Well miss waitress u have lost a loyal customer. $20 per week x 52 = $1000 inLOST revenue. Tell that to the owner!
(1)beth h.
i love gusto. i've only had the pizza and the salads, but they are both fabulous. The crust is perfectly thin and crispy, and they have great toppings. I would say it's a little more on the gourmet side, so if you're looking for a huge extra cheesy/greasy piece of pie got to Lorenzo's (also one of my faves). It's a small place, especially when parents insist on bringing gigantic baby strollers in, but what are ya gonna do?! service is very friendly. it's also cash only. 2 thumbs up for gusto!
(5)Chad T.
cherie c.'s review on Gusto has it right, and I wish I would have read it before ordering. The buffalo chicken cheesesteak, ordered spicy, was lame. Great bread, but the chicken was in big chunks, lightly covered in a mild sauce, and flanked by barely any cheese and just a dab of blue cheese. Laaaaaaaaame. In my book, buffalo chicken cheesesteaks are supposed to be all chopped up like their beefy cousins, should be well-mixed with the cheese, and the blue cheese should be served on the side. I could barely taste the buffalo sauce. My wife got a calzone that was under-cooked and doughy on the inside. I really wanted to like you, Gusto, but beyond being within walking-distance from home and fairly inexpensive, I don't have a lot of bones to throw your way. You're clearly not trying. No me gusta Gusto.
(2)alexis g.
Attention people who have eaten only sandwiches at Gusto: please go back for the pizza. The pizza boxes say, "pizza dough made fresh daily" or something like that and I'm pretty sure it's true. We've tried Lazaros (weird fake balled-up sausage), Mama Palma (good, but they way oversell that polenta bread stuff...which was not good... and for whatever reason I can't get over it) and (shudder) Papa Johns (nothing to say about this experience really). Now that we've had Gusto, we'll never get pizza anywhere else. This was everything a pizza should be -- Crisp crust with a chewy interior that actually tastes like something more resembling delicious yeasty bread than cardboard, yummy real toppings (portabella mushrooms, actual artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers...), and a sauce that actually has tomatoey texture and flavor. The best part: the sausage in the sausage calzone was actually sausage-y. Yes, I realize that's a lot of sausage in one sentence... but this is important. I like sausage and when I order a sausage pizza/calzone from an actual restaurant I don't want the sausage to look like something that I could get on a frozen pizza from Super Fresh.
(4)Morgan D.
I can't comment on the pizza. And i've never even been inside this place. But when i used to live in the neighborhood, i frequently ordered their cheesesteak hoagie for delviery and they get 4 stars for that. The delivery was always fast. My sandwich always showed up still warm. The lettuce, tomato, and onion were crisp and fresh. And they use delicious, crusty, seeded long rolls that add something special to what was essentially a run-of-the-mill cheesesteak. Just a solid option for delivery if you're in the area.
(4)Emma J.
What I love about this place is that it has great OTHER food and great pizza. That's a plus for my family, when two of us don't like pizza (don't look at me!). Their fries are pretty good, my mom worships their burgers and caeser salad (in fact i used to tease 'er about it...any takers? yes? no?). Only 4 stars because it seems to be impossible to get this pizza at the right temperature. When you order in it's usually too hot, and takeout is too cold. It's good, though! In terms of wheelchair accessible-ness, you can sit outside. The doorway is pretty narrow and there's a small step but if it's nice outside you shouldn't have an issue.
(4)Sarah B.
Good food, decent prices. Staff is nice and never rushes you to get outta there. Bread is delish
(4)B Y.
Gusto gets 4 stars because for a BYOB in rittenhouse it just can't be beat for the price. They have really quality pizza and really cheap pizzas. You can bring some wine or beer and a couple buddies and have a great night for almost nothing. The seating area is nothing special and ery simple but again for the price, quality of the food, and the fact that it is a BYOB, you can't go wrong. I was pleasantly surprised. Just know that this is a very simple place and don't expect anything fancy.
(4)kathy t.
I recommend the pizza and the italian hoagie, but not the grilled chicken sandwiches (dry) or the fries (coated, but not in a good way). Pizza is a particular thing for most people- crust thickness and texture, sauce flavoring, cheese:sauce:crust ratio. Gusto's crust is medium thick and usually relatively crisp, which I like, and the sauce is fairly average. The pesto zucchini white pizza comes with kalamata olives and is feta-fantastic. The Gusto specialty pizza is also delicious and flavor packed (red with mushrooms, artichokes, prosciutto, and sundried tomatoes), but I don't love the type of proscuitto on it. The default mushroom is portobello, not crappy cheap white button mushrooms, or even worse, crappy cheap white button mushrooms from a can. The monster italian hoagie contains generous sliced meats and sharp provolone, along with roasted peppers, shredded romaine and red onions. Fast service- if you call ahead for pickup, a large pizza will be ready in 10-15min. I wish they did slices, but they don't have counter space available. Also I think it's BYO, student discount 10% all the time, and there are printable coupons available on the web and on their little paper takeout menu.
(4)Tobey S.
This place has the best buffalo chicken cheese steak, if your looking for simple fast service... this place is a great find. I used to live down the block and i ordered from them all the time, and they offer a student discount. I just wished they took credit or debit.
(5)Ian Y.
Stopped in for a sandwich at lunch .. Got a wrap and it was really good. Will be sure to stop in again next time I am over this side of town
(3)Colin W.
Good pizza at a reasonable price. The chicken finger wrap is excellent as well. The only downside is that you cannot get pizza by the slice.
(4)Sharp H.
Pretty wide selection for a small place that only takes cash. Yeah it has an ATM but c'mon, what is this 1970. Anyway I got an antipasto salad to go, which was just about what you'd expect - salad with some pieces of cold cuts and olives. Appreciated the bread, though. Didn't strike me as anything special but definitely a good place to pick up some food fast.
(3)Shyvonne M.
This was a great find. I don't think I've had anything bad from here yet. I really love their buffalo chicken pizza. I don't think I've liked anyone's buffalo chicken pizza before I had theirs. Their calzones are also huge and delicious. I would give them 5 stars but the cash-only thing prevents me from doing so since I hardly have cash on me. But other than that, no complaints. Great food and awesome service.
(4)Cherie C.
People told me the pizza was excellent, but I never tried it. Instead I ordered buffalo chicken and pizza fries for me and a friend. I ordered "hot" buffalo sauce, but it was really mild. There wasn't much of the sauce, either. The pizza fries had plenty of mozzarella, but the sauce was so salty that I was up all night drinking water.
(2)Irene C.
On good days, it's good, on bad days, it's VERY BAD. We ordered the Gusto's Special that has proscuitto, portebello mushrooms, sundried tomatoes (we chose to omit this), artichoke hearts. We also ordered a side order of buffalo wings. Upon delivery: Pizza was overly salty...and that's the only flavor profile I could taste. The sauce was not at tangy, overall rather bland. Proscuitto was VERY salty--sign of low grade meat--and distributed in clumps. The artichoke hearts were fibrous because they used a lot of the leaves, and not the heart itself. COLD (not lukewarm, but COLD) buffalo wings. I suspect this batch came straight from the refrigerator without being microwaved, or reheated. The sauce was congealed and gummy. Certainly not fresh. Overall: AVOID if you are not eating in, or ordering on a "busy" day (Friday, Sat)?
(2)Laura W.
I usually go for the medium cheese pizza - a great deal at $6 - always delicious and ready quickly. For some reason we have never been as happy with the taste of the large pizza. Toppings can get expensive. Make a salad at home (their house salad is not worth the price though I like the house dressing) and grab a medium cheese and you have a great meal for two. I also enjoy their chicken steak - great bread and very filling. Skip the fries.
(4)Jake P.
Keith's review interests me, because I never tried the pizza. What I can testify is that the sandwiches are very mediocre. The service is very friendly and fast, but I was a bit disheartened to see a very generic "pizza shop" menu. From the outside, Gusto always appeared to be a lil' cozier than that. It is the view, the neat inside that makes this a much better place to sit than you're typical pizza-by-the-slice hangout. The money's the same too. I just wish the food was as memorable as the locale. Chicken Cesar is where's it at.
(4)Robert P.
Yes, this place is amazing. Hands down the pizza in Philadelphia. They also have a great menu aside from pizza. The sandwiches are of great proportion and the price is as small as gets. Everything is always fresh, consistent and extremely tasty. The atmosphere is a boring pizzeria; however, it is a byob. So bring your wine and beer. This place is a great asset to the Fitler Square/Rittenhouse area of Philadelphia!
(5)Ernesta M.
The Good: The cheese and sauce were pretty good. They had those elements down. The Bad: The crust is tasteless cardboard. Also, having only portabello mushrooms and not normal buttons is a complete violation.
(1)Wendell M.
The pizza here is only good if you've never had NYC or NJ pizza. If you have had really good pizza, then you know Gusto is just plain mediocre. We had delivery, which took about 40 minutes. The main killer is their crust, which might as well be be fashioned out of pizza box itself.
(2)Sonia W.
The food was amazing! and the waitress was super nice and polite. We stayed way past our welcome but didn't feel pressure to leave from the staff. The pizza was extremely good and the toppings original (we ordered a specialty pizza). The atmosphere was casual and the food was extremely well priced. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
(4)Keith R.
The best pizza by delivery I've had in Philly in my year living here. Admittedly that is a very small sample size, but the pizza was good. Gusto's gives you a pretty big menu of unconventional pizza toppings. They have a nice tangy tomato sauce and use the right amount of cheese. The crust isn't perfect, it's a little salty, but all in all its pretty darn good. They were courteous in taking my order on the phone and got the pizza here within the specified 40 minutes of time. It was cold when it got here, but not too bad. Also tried their BBQ calzone which was good but would have been better with a more flavorful BBQ sauce.
