Thinking about Gaeta's tomato pie makes me drool. Perfect crunch. Eat it cold, warm it up, either way it's amazing.

Since the original review below, this is still my go to spot for tomato pie. It's the best around! I've also stopped limiting them to just parties, now sometimes I pick up a half or a quarter sheet just to keep in the house over the wknd. They have also started making regular round pies. I have yet to try, but I'm sure they are just as amazing. Had to pick up a tomato pie for a party. I didnt feel like driving down to CC, S. Philly, italian market, ect... to pick one up, so I put my trust in Google. After reading a ton of reviews, this was the place to get it (the best part is that its 5 minutes from my house). It was a hit! People were shocked to find out it was from this little bakery on Castor Ave and not the usually South Philly. I'm actually surprised that there arent more reviews on Yelp about this place. Maybe people just dont know about it?! Either way, TRY IT!

As stated by many ready: Without a doubt THE BEST TOMATOE PIE IN PHILADELPHIA. I didn't even like Tomatoe Pie , until Iz had a Gaetas Tomatoe Pie.

Best tomato pie i ever had and to think i found this place by complete accident thought it was a closed down bakery. What a find. Pizza is awesome and there large pizza is huge there small is like other pizza places large. The mix of italian spices makes this pizza oh so good .I order one for parties or get request to bring them to work always a favorite. And here the best part it's better to eat it cold. Coming from me that saying something because I don't like cold food.So I hope you take my advice you might accidentally fall in love with this little known gem.

Excellent tomato pie. This place is really unusual. Basically home, with some kind of oven in the back which uses almost 45 minutes to raise the tomato pie. While it is not like Chicago deep dish, it is an original of Philly which is the model of thick Sicilian tomato pie with an outstanding flavor and crusty ness. In my opinion, Chicago deep dish pie is just a whole bunch of shortening, butter, and oil added to an original Philly tomato pie recipe and then pounded with all kinds of stuff on top. Stick with the original. Here it is. Order early, they got crazy hours.

If you want a great tomato pie or cheese pizza this is the place. I never heard of this place until our neighbor let us try some of his tomato pie. We were hooked right away. The sauce and seasoning is perfect for any craving. The place itself is nothing fancy. There is no inside seating and they take cash only so you might have to stop off at the atm before you go here. We tried the medium tomato and cheese pizza last Friday and it was a hit with the kids. I did not know they had round pies too until I looked at their menu in the restaurant. The round pies are a little cheaper. We will try those on our next trip. Treat your self to their pies and you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely the best tomato pie! I've been a fan since the mid 70's when they were Scaleas in Germantown. Back then a whole pie (24 slices) was $4.50. Damn I'm getting old! The taste and quality are exactly the same. Treat yourself.

I was raised on Scalea's tomato pie too. Gaeta's is the ONLY tomato pie! I try it everywhere I go and although some come close, Gaeta's is the best. I drive 90 miles each way when I feel the need for a tomato pie.

Good tomato pie. Not great. I honestly was a bit let down after reading all the rave reviews and being referred by a co-worker who swore this was the best tomato pie ever. I found it too plain for my taste and on the dry side. It was not bad at all, just not great. I ended up goin home and drizzling some olive oil on top and adding some crushed red pepper & parm cheese, def made it much better. I'd go back for another pie, but I've definitely tasted better tomato pies with better flavored sauce that wasn't as dry.

Best tomato pie in the city. My family is from Germantown and we were raised on this stuff. No family party is complete with a Gaeta's pie!!!

Gaeta's makes, without a doubt, the best tomato pie in the city. Don't think you like tomato pie? Think again. I'd always turn up my nose when my dad brought home one from Gaeta's. Why eat tomato pie when you could eat pizza? Then I tried a piece when I was in high school and I'm still kicking myself for all of those wasted tomato pie-free years. If butter, garlic, and tomatos are your thing, you've got to try one of these tomato pies. A tip: Gaeta's is pick up only, and you might want to call ahead or get there early. These things go fast.

very old shop, takeout only, and thanks to the person who took the pix of the shop , otherwise I will never find it. not much choice there. Only tomato pie! If you never had tomato pie, you got ot try it. Once you try it, you will go back again! The bottom is like Italian bread crust brushed with olive oil and then baked. The top sauce is food milled tomato sauce a good amount of tomato , but not soggy at all. a bit of spice in it. just like Arrabbiata sauce. I love it. and my almost two years old baby ate the whole square slice ( of course I made them small pieces first) small is 6 slice (8 dollars) each topping for the small is 2dollar more.

Outstanding Tomato Pie-the crust is thin and the fresh tomato plus other ingredients make for a perfect pie. The ends and corners are my favorite!!! Two pies are perfect for parties. The white pies and the oreganot are also worth checking out.

The tomato pie at this establishment is worth its weight in gold. whenever I come into the Philadelphia area I try to make it a point that either myself or a local family member buy a full sheet of this delicious Italian delicacy. I'm sure the other things that they sell are good but be honest its just like after I met my wife there are other beautiful women out there but after her she's the only one for me. The same can be said about this tomato pie

They make an absolutely exceptional tomato pie. The tomato is flavorful and not at all acidic and the crust thin and crispy. It is delicious both as a classic tomato pie and also with the addition of cheese if you are feeling a little more like a square cheese pizza. The prices are reasonable given the size of the tomato pies. They are cooked to order and are always hot when I arrive to pick them up at the appointed time. The service is always friendly, attentive and accommodating. Love the feel and flavor of the old world bakery.
