I had dinner with my husband this week at the Great American Pub in Paoli and we had a wonderful experience! We started out with the calamari and the cheesesteak egg rolls for our appetizers. I ordered the chicken arugula salad and my husband got the brisket nachos. The food was out within no time after putting in our order! I couldn't believe how fast we got our food! We really loved all the TVs throughout the restaurant so we could sit and enjoy dinner while watching the Eagles play on the big screens. They have a huge selection of craft beers and I have to say, one of the best Moscow Mules I've ever had! We will definitely be going back!! The food was great and the service was awesome! I would recommend this place to anyone!!

We were there for the Eagles/Dallas game. Food was average to poor, beer was so so. Service: our waitress was a Giants fan and announced it proudly. The only thing worse was that the Eagles lost!

I always enjoyed meeting my friends here for a quick beer and something to eat. Staff is good, prices are fair, and food is decent. I wouldn't expect great if you go here, but I can't say I've ever been unhappy with my experience.

My family just attempted to have lunch here, and it was probably one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Once our food came out, very delayed for being only one of two tables, the fries were room tempt and somewhat soggy, we ordered Maryland crab fries, two ingredients that should have been on there to justify the added cost were old bay seasoning and crab meat, the old bay was barley there and the crab was a little sprinkle on top at best. My brisket sandwich was as dry as a Nun... It tasted as if it were made several days ago and was reheated when I ordered it. Then we noticed our high chair had several missing or loose bolts, we asked for a new one, after that the waiter couldn't just grab a new one, he has to try to fix it first, which put an awkward hold on our conversation for a few minutes. Then what made me decide to do what I hardly ever do, send food back. The amount of flies around this restaurant this day was unbelievable. Once the flies got stuck in my wife's Mac and cheese, that was it, I felt bad doing it, but the food had to go back, the food was sub-par and now bugs were all around and over. After they good went back, the waiter made his first appearance to the table to check on us, and to tell us that what was clearly a flies' wing was a basil flake... Basil flakes? In Mac and cheese?! But that is not why I took time out of my day to write this, the coup de grace was a combination of the following: the bill came out, I was expecting to pay for the ice teas we drank, but that's all. But the waiter told me that he had to charge us something, so he was charging the Maryland Crab fries... That we didn't eat... Literally looked at and felt that they were not hot and crispy, I had to pay for it. At this point I'm upset but not over the edge... The bill was sent out, $14.40 (ish) I sent a $20 bill. I was expecting $5.60 back, but the waiter committed one of the very few deadly sins of waiting, he tipped himself. I receive just a $5 bill. Is that going to send me to the poor house? Am I really worried about the 60 cents? No, it's the principle of it. He didn't show up once to refill drinks or check on us, nothing and he takes it upon himself to not give full change back, with those kind of balls you need to be a bull fighter, not a waiter. This place did an awful job making a good first impression, I couldn't suggest anyone go there.

I've really never had a great experience here. It is always empty, which is nice for quick seating and food delivery. Staff has always been very nice and helpful. Beer selection is decent, as expected at a pub. The food is really what brings this establishment down to only two stars for me. GO WITH STRAIGHT PUB FOOD HERE--burgers, fries, mozzarella sticks, etc. otherwise you will be surely disappointed. We ordered the spinach crab dip once and it was a weird yellow cheese with flavorless crab meat, if it was even in there. Crab cake sandwich was decent. My boyfriend got the pulled pork and said he likes it as well. The pizza is not very flavorful--I got the margherita once. It wasn't bad per se but I'd rather hit up a local pizza joint for probably what would be a third of the cost.

I frequent this place with friends for drinks and with my parents for lunch - the crowd definitely varies by the time of day! My favorite dishes are the lobster ravioli and the crab nachos! They have a smoker, and do a decent barbecue as well! The bartenders are attentive and knowledgable. If you're a beer drinker be warned. They have no more than 8-10 beers on tap and it's mostly the old faithfuls (Miller, Bud, Lager, and Guinness). If you enjoy craft drafts you'll want to try the Flying Pig - just up King street! Prices are totally fair for the quality and service! I am looking forward to this chain's new location in Phoenixville!

The fiancee and I have tried the Pub out a few times at this point, and we constantly leave without anything to say but "meh." First, the place is large, which is great when they're busy, but each time we've been there it's been practically empty. Also, it's definitely a place for the "older" crowd - at 30 and 31, we were the youngest people in the entire establishment, and clearly didn't fit in with the 50+ year olds starting their weekends with 6+ beers each. The beer list is good, but served way too cold. I'm not what you would even call a "beer snob," but their kegs are served right around freezing, which makes excellent beers basically taste like Coors Light. The food is good, which earns a star: brisket burger was solid (albeit light on the brisket), and the truffle fries and chips are really great. The staff was friendly and attentive, although with how empty the place was, it would be pretty impossible for her NOT to be checking on us every 5-10 minutes. After giving it a few tries, we'll probably stick to the Flying Pig (Malvern, just down King Rd) or TJ's (Paoli, about 1/2 mile away on Lancaster Ave.). Both places blow TGAP out of the water in nearly every category.

July 29, 2015 will be my last visit to this pub. Kimberly, the waitress with the worst attitude in the universe, gets blatantly rude when asked for separate bills. She rolls her eyes, grabs the check and stomps away like a petulant child. I've complained to management about this before, but her behavior does not change and she remains employed. Also, the dining area was fly-infested. Not sure which was more unpleasant, the fly infestation or Kimberly. Either way, I won't be back.

Went to lunch today (Friday 11/7 at 11:40ish) with a group of 7 coworkers from a local, large company. Though we have had many group lunches there before, we were very disappointed in the service and the food today. First, the place was empty...I saw a tumble weed roll by. We were asked when we walked in to be seated, snottily, by our future waitress, if we had a reservation. We said no, and she grudgingly seated us in a large booth, which was quite comfortable and if anything else was good about our visit, I would have enjoyed it thoroughly. Then, we asked to have separate checks, which was met with a barely veiled aggressive stare down from our waitress. Like, are you kidding me? At check time, she grudgingly split it EVENLY between the 7 of us, which completely defeated the purpose, and it was not at all what we wanted. Mind you, there are 25+ restaurants in the local area that will provide separate checks to groups without blinking an eye. And, the 25+ local restaurants that have identical cuisine have MUCH better food. The Palm Beach salad, along with the Tuscan Chicken Wrap (which should have been called the romaine lettuce wrap; chicken was nowhere to be found) were in dire need of dressing or some kind of sauce. The roast beef sandwich was very dry. Italian Pork was OK and the Cobb Burger was fine. All things being equal, if our server was not passive-aggressive, we would have tipped generously and would definitely return as this was a place we frequented. Everybody knows that if you give separate checks (and if you provide good service), you get better tips. We have had group, company-sponsored lunches there before, but never again!

My wife and I came in 2 hours before closing, but the restaurant was empty so we considerately asked if the kitchen was still open. One of the three people behind the bar answered yes. After having seated ourselves, 15 minutes had gone by and we still hadn't even gotten menus. I attempted to make eye contact with the bar staff to see whether we were being ignored purposely or if it was simple forgetfulness. After failing to make eye contact for about 3 minutes, and not wanting spit or snot in our food courtesy of a vindictive wait staff who clearly did not want us there, we opted just to leave. The icing on the cake was that on our way out, a bartender sarcastically thanked us for coming. We would have been happier if they just lied to us and said the kitchen was closed, rather than to waste our time. I'd say we would never come here again, but technically we haven't even been here once.

Great American Pub is going downhill. This has always been one of our favorite places to eat but in the last 6 months the food has started getting more expensive an charging extra for everything. The waitresses though very nice have gotten incredibly slow! I never had this issue in the past.if the place was busier I'd understand but slow service when there are only 3 full tables is not ok.
(3)Michael K.
Under new management. Had the sliced roast beef with aus jus. Stellar. Also had a sample of the beef brisket that was smoked 10 hrs! Will be back again!

Hadn't been here in quite a while, since it was Casey's. My first visit a few weeks ago was pleasant. Service from the bartender was great, burger was good. Went back yesterday - service at the bar was really disappointing. Food was OK. French onion soup was delicious, and seemed home-made, though the cheese was really thick and difficult to manage. Salad was meh - dressing left a lot to be desired. I will continue to go back because the food is pretty good and it's convenient and easy for an 'older', single person who doesn't feel up to the noise of The Flying Pig to grab a meal and a drink.

My husband and I are generally easy to please. We went for the first time last night. The Maryland crab fries were way overpriced for not a very large serving and the dipping cheese was gross. My husband's burger was ok (Cobb burger) but my brisket burger was really tough and dry, I couldn't eat it. Lots of small thing irritated us, like our snarky waitress, the onions in my burger were sliced way too thick so that I reeked of onions all night, the death-metal music playing (really???)... Will definitely NOT go back and we live 2 mins away. Drive a few minutes to Landmark in Wayne and get a real burger and the best crab fries ever. ..or TJs even closer. I predict this place won't last long.

Brother CAN COOK!! THE best chef I have ever been graced to eat his food! My wife and I went there today for our wedding anniversary. For a starter we had homemade veggie potstickers & cheesesteak spring rolls. Best I've ever had. They are not store bought or frozen but FRESH. Beautiful veggies, potato cake with truffle oil, & a side of ghost peppers! THEN the trio of meat: pork chop, ribs & filet! Happy anniversary to us! We also had great service! Will definitely return.

My boyfriend and his friends go here pretty regularly, and I'm always happy to come along. We usually sit at the bar, and the bartenders are super-friendly, and on top of things! They have your next pint before you finish your current one. For a bar... the food is amazing. As the token vegetarian, I can't eat a lot of what they serve, but their veggie burger is NEVER a bad move... and the pizzas get the job done too. Its not fried-nasty bar food... nor would i call it a gastro-pub, but its more like a nice place to have a few drinks and a solid bite. There's always a comfy corner that you can take over, and the prices are super-fair. I really enjoy this little main line watering hole.
(4)Bradford G.
The food is fine. Not pub food but a decent American menu. Alcohol selection is fine. It's all fine. Problem is fine doesn't cut it. The problem is this place as no character. It could be any chain restaurant and bar. It needs some je ne sais quois. That's French my friends for something distinctive and attractive. By way of example, down the street is the Pig. I'm not saying it is the bomb but they have a style. It's unusual brews, good food without doing anything crazy, and of course pigs. Everywhere. Go to GAP if you're just getting a drink or a quick bite, but if you want something more, you'll need to wait.

Went here a few times after work, the food selection is pretty good. Also a good variety of beers. The decor inside is a little fancy, but not overly so. The fish and chips, and a few apps I got were pretty good. However, during busy times (ie; Friday/Saturday night) don't expect to be able to even find a parking spot.
(3)Ryan K.
My wife and I were quite pleased with our experience and surprised to see the lackluster reviews on Yelp--and we were excited to contribute a positive review. First, the decor is pleasant, almost classy. After visiting a few dingy, classless pubs in the area, we were very happy to find this place clean, with attractive decor--a place for adults to have a nice meal and some good drinks with friends. We are also very happy with the menu and the quality of food. My wife's grouper was very good, my burger was also excellent, as were the homemade chips and french fries. Dessert was also very good; we had an apple cobbler ala mode, which was tasty and not overly sweet. We will go back again!

I don't expect much from a pub and this place lived up to my expectations. Stopped in here for lunch with some coworkers and the place was busy but not packed. We were quickly seated but it took close to 15 minutes before a waitress came and took our order. They have a nice variety on the menu including soups, salads, pizzas, pastas, burgers, sandwiches, etc. Description of many items sounded good but food was just OK. I had the bubba chicken sandwich and it didn't have a lot of flavor, but I did like the fact that the bacon on it was crispy. The three other people I was with said their meals were just OK as well and lacked some flavor. One had a burger and the other two had the pork burrito special. Might stop in here again for lunch if I was in the area, but definitely wouldn't crave the place or go out of my way to come here.

Good food, great service, nice place to eat. But if you like dark places, this is the place for you. Really wish they would pay the electric bill.

I'm kind of surprised with the reviews on this place. Its basically become my go to spot for a beer and a sandy on a Sunday or to catch a game. They usually have some specials during happy hour and on Sundays. I think the bartenders do a good job and I kind of like the atmosphere. Now, keep in mind, you're visiting a pub and you're going to get a better version of most bar food. GAP always does the trick, and conveniently, its within walking distance for me.

Although I used to frequent the Conshy one for drinking purposes, I attempted to use this one for food and have been disappointed. On two occasions the ovens have been broken making it impossible for me to get what I originally wanted to order. The food is just above average. The beer selection is also not impressive. I highly recommend instead the one in Wayne or the Conshy one. It is best to just avoid this version of the franchise. With the addition to Wegman's in the area, there is no reason to use this place to pick up a 6pack.

It looks like some of the poorer reviews here are older, so that might explain it. We've been to this GAP a number of times over the past year and have consistently been impressed by the quality of food and service! When our drinks are empty, someone comes to ask if we would like them filled!Music on Friday and Saturday nights is good and entertaining but you can carry on with your meal without being overly disturbed. I've been happy with items all over the menu, sandwiches, steaks, appetizers, and salads, and will keep coming back when I want a good meal and a beer.
(5)Nancy O.
Sorry to report that this GAP did not meet expectations. Can't really put my finger on it, because service was fine, drinks were okay, food was so-so. I guess I agree with Shawn and Bradford- this GAP has to vye with Malvern spots like the Flying Pig and McKenzies. This GAP is a great place to stop off for a cold one, after a sporting event such as speed lawn mowing or cricket. The Wayne GAP has cornered the Main Line customer base, while Paoli has captured the hearts of the regular hard-working, hard playing crowd. All in all, fine for a casual, last minute get together- not much more.

Third trip to the pub in the last 2 months today. First visit was very nice, second was OK, today was a disaster. I get the idea that this is a neighborhood pub, you will get that loud and clear as you navigate all the smokers sitting in front of the entry door, including staff. New smoker is now operational, so thought it would be a great time to try some of their bbq menu. Best recommendation - don't. The brisket was a huge hunk of fatty low grade meat. The sausage was underdone with halves of green peppers thrown on a roll. Best recommendation - drinks - OK, food- NO

We came in this past weekend with a disabled person in our party. Despite his inability to sit at the bar or hightop tables in the bar, the waitress informed us under no circumstances could he have happy hour priced beer because he was not seated in the designated section, disability or not. When this was brought to the attention of the manager, his answer was simply "what do you want me to do, give you $2 bucks back?"

i like when a waitress puts 2 beers down on the table and says "i don't know which one is which... do you think this one's the stella"? GREAT JOB. the food was pretty good here - not awesome-great, but i had a very satisfying meal. i got a fish special - black butter fish over spinach & potatoes. yum. my husband's "salad", on the other hand, just appeared to be a contest of "how many calories can you fit in this bowl?" i ordered a house salad that never came. luckily it was a no-show on the bill as well. again, GREAT JOB.
(3)Joe B.
Not a fan. The food is great, don't get me wrong...chicken wings and cheeseburgers are absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. But, I am 23 years old, and I had a bunch of people at my table that were under 21 and they wouldn't server me any alcoholic drinks. I've never experienced that anywhere before ever. They said I could go to the bar and get a drink but I politely refused, and went outside to my car and had a few shots bymyself instead. I'll go back again, but only with of-age friends.

My husband and I went there this past Saturday for lunch. It was not overly busy but fairly full. The inside is very nice and quite an improvement from the old outdated Caseys. I ordered the lettuce wraps. They were on a section of the menu called "enhancements" I have no clue what that meant but they were very good. I think the portion could have been a tad larger but we ordered onion rings to split which were AMAZING! They were so crispy and HUGE I can't wait to go again to have more! The lettuce wraps were delicious though. My husband had a roast beef sandwich which was yummy but fairly a small portion of beef on the kaiser roll. the sandwich was served with a small bag of chips. Like the kind I put in my kids lunch-where there are like 6 chips in the bag. That reminded me of a deli, not a restaurant side. our waitress was great and the hostess was nice. We will go back for sure. Go off hours for best service and a seat.
