Zook's chicken is DIVINE! My dad took me last Friday for lunch, and I made sure to place my order this week when he went back. Both times I ordered the quarter chicken, with a side of barbequed carrots, and both times they were absolutely delicious. The chicken is very tender and the meat just falls off of the bone. I definitely want to go back and try the ribs, too. Oh, and the staff is super friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Finally! They got more menu items! Its about time! My only complaint still is they need to add more side dishes. EX bbq'd greenbeans, corn, mashed pots.

I've never met a person who did not like barbecue and for those who live within reach, this is some of the best barbecue you will find. From the time we walked in to the Farmer's Market to the time we left, Zook's BBQ Barn had the largest crowd hanging around and anxious to order. With quick service, barbecued baby back ribs, chicken and roasted BBQ carrots were plated up or packaged to go. They must corn feed their pigs and chickens, because eating the very tender and meaty ribs was like eating a pork roast. They were outstanding and way up there on the best ribs I've had. The chicken drumettes were so plump and meaty, I had to look twice, hubby got these, but of course I had to snitch a few to yelp about. The flavor stands out and is so different from what you would ever find in a grocery store. Everything is sold by the pound and can be bought either fresh or cooked. If you get one of their lunch or dinner plates, it is priced and the meat comes with a quarter pound of any side or chips and pickles. This is one of the few places that had a take out menu, most of the others had no idea what I was talking about. On it they serve breakfast from 9-11, 11:30 on Saturday and it is a nice variety of breakfast sandwiches. All through the day they serve ham, ribs, chickens, turkey, wings and for sides, roasted barbecued whole carrots, roasted red skin potatoes, cole slaw or sweet potatoes that are sliced thick and roasted. For sandwiches, other than breakfast, they have BBQ pulled pork, which looked outstanding and I will try it the next time, real sliced off the roasted breast turkey and ham and cheese. They have several sizes of homemade chicken pot pies, one is in my freezer now and so many choices of uncooked meals to go, like stuffed chicken breasts, chicken Cordon Bleu, chicken or turkey tenders, ham steaks and more. Why shop anywhere else for meat or poultry when you can buy plump chickens or parts, whole turkeys or parts, Cornish hens, hams, ground chicken or turkey and rabbit. For Thanksgiving and Christmas they sell duck, goose and capon. The Farmer's Market is only open Thursday 9-6, Friday 9-7 and Saturday 9-4. Knowing they will be closed for the next four days, most vendors are scarce with their products come Saturday afternoon. However, Zook's has become popular for take out and they kept it coming. Now if you'll excuse me, today is Thursday and I need to go and make my shopping list. GadZook's I can't wait!

Best BBQ I have ever had! The pulled pork, the pulled chicken, the rotisserie chicken, the ribs, the bbq vegetable, everything is delicious! I wish they were open 7 days a week! I highly recommend Zooks, great quality and the service is good too!

I was pretty bummed when they told me that the pulled pork was sold out. But plenty of other options were still available. The pulled rib sandwich was what I ended up ordering. Not a choice that I have seen on very many BBQ joint menus, but it was damn tasty. The bun was nice and fresh. And with some local PA potato chips thrown in, how can you go wrong ? A great casual meal that leaves you with change in your pocket.

Some good stuff, the prices are getting a little high. The meat counter sells Select grade steaks at Prime prices. That is three down from Prime, truly meant for stews and soups. People should be informed about this. primesteakhouses.com/how…

This is a little hole in the wall BBQ place at the Amish Farmer's Market in Newtown. That being said, it is in the farmer's market so it's not the cleanest place in the world but I love their special. For about 6-7 dollars you get chicken or ribs with two sides and a roll. BBQ carrots ans sweet potatoes are amazing. Stop by and try this sometime!

Hands down, they have the BEST ribs around. Meat falls right off the bones- so moist. I could drink their BBQ sauce straight up. It's tangy with a small kick, not too sweet (which is how I like it). We usually get extra sauce. We recently got one of their rotisserie chickens and it was delicious as well. SO GOOD! I've always wanted to try the pulled pork. Can't wait.

Absolutely in love with this BBQ place. Granted, Bucks County is not known for its BBQ, but Zook's does a great job. Ribs are especially delicious - they put a rub on but also serve with a nice tangy (and slightly spicey) BBQ sauce. Meat just falls off the bone. They also do some great chicken - wings and thighs now.

Busy take out business at lunch but it moves fast. Had 3 knuckle size bones in the pulled rib barbecue. Not good for my teeth or that I paid for boneless meat. But it was tasty anyway.

Zook's BBQ is how I imagine my Southern Grandmother would cook, if I was from North Carolina. The food is extremely flavorful, prices are reasonable and the staff is always super friendly. I particularly love their BBQ wings and Pulled Pork lathered in their BBQ sauce. All their sides are great too, especially their carrots, I don't know what they put on them, but I bet if they gave out the recipe children everywhere would rejoice at eating their vegetables! But anything I've tried has not disappointed. If you are looking for a good hearty meal, come here early because a few times the pulled pork or ribs have run out by 2 PM. All I can say is that even my uber picky mother loves this place and if that doesn't get you here, I don't know what will!

This vendor was always the reason why my friends and I got super excited for Newtown's Amish Farmer's Market every summer. Back in middle school and high school, I'd frequent this vendor for their BBQ meats, especially their BBQ pulled pork and BBQ pulled chicken. I remember the pulled pork being seasonal but I think the pulled chicken is available all year round. You'll know there's pulled pork for sale inside the farmer's market, if there's a pig roasting outside the market doors (At least, they used to do that when I was in high school, several several years ago). I have tried BBQ pulled meats in some of the most-highly rated BBQ restaurants in NYC and Boston, and still, nothing comes close to Zook's. Their BBQ sauce is just so perfectly seasoned and portioned (they definitely don't skimp on the sauce!), and they cook their meats to the optimal level, bringing out all the flavor while still retaining moistness and tenderness. Truly, if you're ever in Newtown, this is the place you MUST hit up. If I remember correctly the Farmer's market is only open on Sundays and Thursdays during certain hours. Then again, I haven't been back to this place in at least 4-5 years so things may have changed. My mom still brings me their BBQ pulled chicken/pork sometimes in take-out containers when she goes back to Newtown so I do know for a fact that their quality hasn't changed. Zook's continues to be the BEST at BBQ. Food: 5/5 -- BBQ to die for! Service: 5/5 -- always friendly, prompt, and helpful Atmosphere: 4/5 -- the stall gets crowded quickly cause there's always a mass of people surrounding them, waiting impatiently to order some mouth-wateringly good BBQ Overall: 5/5 -- exceptional!

Zook's BBQ Barn is in the corner of the Newtown Farmers' Market, and operated by Amish folks in full dress and accents. The market is only open Thursday thru Saturday, so plan accordingly. The BBQ is excellent across the board. From pork, chicken, and beef, through many vegetables, the most notable of which are the carrots, yams, and red potatoes. As noted in the other reviews, the approach to BBQ is different than the better known rub cuisines of Texas, Memphis, North Carolina, etc. Here the meat is smoked first until it is tender and falling off the bone. Then it is mixed with a variety of delicious, tangy sauces and allowed to steep until the meat and sauce merge and something completely new is created. I have purchased the whole chickens in the past, and they were very good. Perfect for a family dinner with a few of the original side dishes. These days, I am more lunch oriented, and go for the pulled meat sandwiches and veggies. The Pulled Pork is excellent, and the Pulled BBQ Ribs are so succulent I hate to swallow and lose the flavor orgy in my mouth. Beware small bones. The lunch special is one of the BBQ meats on a fresh roll and a side dish of your choice. The prices run from $6 to $8 for the meal. You need to ask for napkins and a fork, as they are not routinely thrown into the bag. All in all a great alternative for lunch, not to mention the overall curiosity of walking around the market and being tempted by everything else being offered by the vendors. The only complaint is the general lack of cleanliness in the market. I guess that is why Zook's is called a "Barn."

I was really anticipating Zooks. I spend a decent amount of time in Newtown. Yelp was always telling me to pay a visit. Unfortunately the farmer's market was never open ever time I was in town. Not today! I planned on and conquered a three hour hiking adventure at Tyler, with full intention of making this my lunch afterwards. I did just that. There was a $6.00 special running that I order. 1/4 chicken with two sides and a dinner roll. I went for the yams and carrots. I also opted for the dark meat (they asked). Wow. I don't know if I was just starving or what, but that was really one of the cheapest and most satisfying meals I ever had. The chicken was falling off the bone. It was so juicy and tender that I didn't even need the side of bbq they gave. The yams were definitely fresh and cooked perfectly. I also am not a huge fan of cooked carrots. I ordered them because of what they looked like, whole carrots that appeared halved and roasted. Dude...those carrots were amazing. The dinner roll was so moist and fresh. Everything about that meal satisfied me. I was even able to find a nice, quiet seat by myself, to relish in food heaven. The people working the counter are quick and friendly. You have to grab a number ticket, so don't forget to do that. The whole number thing is an extremely good idea because I could definitely see people getting into it about who's first, lol. They were pretty busy when I was there, but I didn't wait long at all. Even if I had to wait, it would have been worth it.

After searching for 2 years for a decent BBQ place in the area (we live in Ewing); we stumbled across Zook's at the Newtown Farmer's Market and have returned many times since. Our first visit was overwhelming; what do we get? Where does the line start? Look how sweet and cute the Amish are! To go or eat-in? Wait, we need to pull a number? Help! But, once you get the hang of the fast pace walk up order system (we also now know the menu by heart)- it's like you've died and gone to BBQ heaven. Ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, pulled ribs, roast chicken, wings- we've had it all. Don't forget the sides; delicious baked carrots, bbq roasted potatoes, mashed, broccoli, veggies galore. Dinner rolls come with meals- with warm butter and it's the perfect compliment to soak up all that delicious BBQ sauce on your plate. They have breakfast sandwiches as well, and I would love to visit early enough to try them. Sidenote: They are only open Thurs-Sat.

My experience here is limited to take away chicken wings. Poetry has been penned in honor of things more humble than chicken wings, although I don't know that I can muster any iambic pentameter right now. As other Yelpers have observed, the meat falls off the bone, and the wings are both moist and tender (it is regrettably easy to overcook wings). In addition to the perfect BBQ technique and timing, Zook's excels in its spicing of the wings. I would love to have their secret recipe, which adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the wings without overpowering them. Even though we just finished supper, the mere thought of Zook's wings makes me want to dash over to the Farmer's Market to wait until Zook's reopens. BTW, for two people, I usually buy about 12 wings (about 1.5 lb.)
