Update: I've decided I'm just not a fan of their pizza. The sauce seems to be the same on every kind of pizza and is over-seasoned. Recently ordered a Brooklyn pizza and it was basically their old world tomato pie, but bigger, with more sauce, and not much cheese. Their house dressing is one of my favorites. Still love the Mexican menu and their customer service is great. Pizza - 2 stars Service - 5 stars Mexican - 5 stars

My family used to go here a lot when I was a kid, but I recently returned for a quick early bird special dinner with my mom. I don't think I had been there in 6 or 7 years. It seems like the same old place. I used to like the pizzas, but went with a buffalo wrap. It was pretty good, nothing special. My mom got a meatball sandwich which was tasty.

The best thing about this place is the service, who are all pretty much just awesome. Everything else is pretty average. Had a salad and pepperoni pizza, which were both fine. But nothing really stood out, again, except for the service. On a side note, being someone who speaks Italian fluently and lived over there, Meglio's tauts on their menu and take out box that "in Italian Meglio means Best." In actuality, meglio just means 'better'.

Seriously good brick oven pizza. My husband got the 4 cheese (so very flavorful and cheesy with that wood oven, smoky taste) and I got the pesto plus some sausage (absolutely delicious. Fresh pesto, not-too-greasy sausage). We devoured them quickly, but they filled us up! Prices for each were between $10-$12 depending on additional toppings. Super nice and knowledgeable staff, plenty of seating, good value lunch menu, individual slices also available. Easy to find and to park. We'll definitely be back to try more pizza and some cheesesteaks!

I've personally worked at Meglio's when I was younger and I have to say the food is fresh! I've seen it being made and I was never grossed out, which a is a great sign. Now that I'm much older I appreciate Meglio's prices with the quality of their food. The brick oven pizzas are personally my favorite (as a thin crust lover). I also love all the lunch combo's, they're great! The staff is always so friendly and I've never had a bad experience here.

I don't remember why Meglio's fell off my "Go To" list a few years ago, but when I drove by it last week I realized I had not been there in quite some time. Maybe it was the new competition in Newtown that led me to other outlets for my pizza and cheesesteak fix. Maybe it was the sameness of the offerings. Regardless, it was time for a return visit. So, I went back for lunch a few days ago. The space is about the same, with the wood oven on the left, and the dining room on the right. The table layout remained the same with mostly deuces and quads around the room. At 1, the place was buzzing. A few business lunches, and some post-yoga cool downs. The menu was all about pizza, cheesesteaks and salads at lunch, although the few dinner entres looked appealing. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. It was possible to get out for under $10 @ lunch, perhaps because the shop was in an older strip center and the rent is decent. To ease my way back into their kitchen, I ordered a Chicken Cheesesteak with Fried Onions. It arrived a few minutes later loaded with the prime ingredients. The roll was soft, but fresh and pliant. The amount of chicken in the sandy was enormous, and with the cheese and onions was a lot to eat. The biggest pleasant surprise was how juicy it was. It had been taken from the grill in time to avoid dryness, and the onions complemented the meat and cheese well. I mentioned this to my lovely server, and she just smiled and said she had cooked it for me. No reason to doubt her. I won't let another half decade go by without returning for more dishes. Pizza comes next. However that turns out, I am definitely a fan of the Chicken Cheesesteak.

I must have eaten the food from Meglio hundreds of times. I am not kidding; I know, I have a problem... Back in the day, Meglio was THE ONLY place for a quality pizza in Newtown. Fast forward 20 years and the town now has a plethora of pizza places that they must compete against. What is it with all the pizza places in town by the way? Jeez, it's like a sea of pizza restaurants, banks and a sprinkle of frozen yogurt establishments. While still a solid pizza joint, it just seems that the standards have slipped the last few times I have ordered here. Although I feel the last few times have left me wanting more, I am still not yet ready to deduct a star. One doesn't deduct stars for institutions that have religiously treated me well for as long, and as many times as Meglio has. All that being said, there are two menu items that have never failed me from Meglio, and that is the Sausage Parm, as well as the awesomely priced buffalo wings....YUM! I do have a bone to pick with one other item that ISN'T on the menu: Breaded Broccoli with cheese dipping sauce. For all that is good in this world, Meglio, please bring these bad-boys outta retirement. My future cardiologist will probably thank you for pulling them off of the menu, but I would love for them to make a comeback. It has been years since I have had them and I still haven't gotten over the loss.... In summary, a long time Newtown institution that has good food and good prices that this Yelp reviewer won't give up on.

The only reason I rated this place 3 stars was because of previous experiences. After my recent experience, I should rate this place a 1 or 2. To start off, I love their pizza, cheesesteaks, and cheese fries!!The Cannolis are another favorite of mine. They are the best things on the menu! To follow, I like the Special K sandwiches( chicken, provolone cheese, and red pepper on a roll or wrap), and the salads. They are okay, and I'd recommend them with the understanding that they are nothing special! Now to my current visit, I ordered take out. The onion rings were crispy, but clearly frozen and tasteless. They tasted fried and microwaved. They were a bit chewy. My meal came with soup. The soup was clearly out of a can. I could have opened up a can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle and gotten the same soup. The main entree I ordered was the Rigatoni Vodka. It was filled with pruschutto and sundries tomatoes. It tasted fairly god, but later in the day my stomach began to turn and I got food poisoning. Bottom line is I would go back just for the cheesesteak and pizza, but never again for anything else!

The wood fired pizza is incredible. The cheese steaks are excellent. The rest of the pizzeria fare they sell is generally very good. But the Mexican items they offer are nothing more than OK. I will occasionally get tacos for a change of pace but always regret not getting the wood fired plain with extra garlic.

This used to be my go-to place for cheesesteak sandwiches and Sicilian pizzas during my middle school and high school years (which was almost a decade ago -- yes, they've been around that long!). I haven't been back in at least 5 years but I remember their cheesesteaks being pretty darn awesome. In all those years, I only sat down to eat once and I remember the service being decently prompt, friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere is decent -- just your typical, small, family-owned pizzeria. Although there's plenty of seating, I remember during peak hours and holidays, they'd fill up quickly. I've only ever ordered three things from them: cheesesteaks, regular pizzas, and plain Sicilian pizzas. I'd highly recommend their cheesesteaks! They chop the beef finely and mix it with just the right amount and right kind of cheese to get a prime cheesesteak sandwich. Their regular oven-baked pizzas are ok; There's nothing really all that special about them. I'd almost prefer chain pizza stores' pizza to Meglio's pizza. At least Domino's, Papa John's, and Pizza Hut have their distinctive flavor profiles. Meglio's pizza just tastes... "flat," by pizza standards. If you do want to order pizza here, though, I recommend getting the Sicilian. The taste is still nothing to gawk at, but the way they make the dough for the Sicilian is great! It's crunchy on the bottom and edges while still retaining fluffiness throughout. Still, though, cheesesteaks was and always will be the reason I went to Meglio. Food: 3/5 -- pizzas are decent; cheesesteak is fantastic! Service: 3/5 -- good Atmosphere: 3/5 -- like any other family-owned pizza place, though maybe with a bit more seating Overall: 3/5 -- good

Meglio's wood-fired pizzas lack a lot of the characteristics I really love about wood-fired pizza. The crust was rather one-dimensional in the flavor department, and was a slightly sweet, cracker-like affair I didn't much care for. Furthermore, the crust was devoid of bubbles and the delicate char normally associated with a scorching wood-fired oven. Still, the sauce (especially the tomato pie variant) and toppings of a Meglio's wood-fired pie made the pizza fairly enjoyable. The price per pie of a wood-fired pizza was under $10, so I'm not complaining too much for mediocre pizza. That said, the normal pies are good. They have a light hand with cheese, which actually allows all the components of the pizza to stand out from a flavor viewpoint. The cheese itself has a slightly sharp bite without being overbearing. The sauce is tomatoey and zesty, with the perfect amount of acidity (easily the best part of a Meglio pie). Toppings are competently prepared and of a high quality, and Meglio isn't too heavy on the wallet. Overall, worth a stop for the normal pizza if you're in the area. The wood-fired pizza is decent, but you need to manage your expectations prior.

The meatballs here alone are worth the four stars. Don't get the fries. They are ALWAYS soggy! Pizza is pretty good too. My office uses these guys to cater quite a lot and the food arrives prompt and hot.

Great brick oven pizza! Great service! Reasonable price! what more can you ask for!! BEST PIZZA IN NEWTOWN (not doubt in my mind about that)

I ordered a slice and cheese steak. The slice was thin, didn't feel like I got the money's worth. Cheese steak was just ok, the bread was soft but nothing that would blow your mind. It could be because I already had all the great cheese steaks.

Very rude! Tried to call late at night to understand when they'd take the last order and the person picking up the phone mumbled that they were closing up. Then the "gentleman" decides to hang up without saying anything else. I decided to call back and he rudely tells me that they are closing up and YELLS that they are closing up and people are coming to clean the hoods. I understand that I called a half hour before they closed but that's why I wanted to ask first, but never got the chance. However, I would have expected somebody in a sales business to understand the importance of being nice to every customer regardless of the situation. Just an overall lack of good customer service, so I wouldn't be able to say how good the food is because I'll never eat there after this experience

Coworkers and I usually split a pizza and a cheese steak. Couldnt see the cheese in the sandwich but was mixed i with the meat. Can't beat fresh bread toasted in the oven! Got the fra diavolo by mistake (devil hot), couldn't finish it but still good. Good service.

2 Stars because the pizza 'sauce' was good. (also this was my first time there) It was empty when we arrived, knew what I wanted to order. (been craving a Margherita pizza) Decent enough service, decent enough price. But for Fire Oven Pizza to be anything but crispy crust...eh, no thanks. Soggy, not a crunch to be found crust!! Customer Service lacks on departure. Didn't have that 'we value your patronage' kind of vibe. ps) BTW: Pizza is my favorite food

I'm giving this a 3 just for the ambience, typical pizza place, but wished it looked more like a romantic Italian restaurant. Salad, garlic bread and tomato pie all good.

The calzones here are amazing...definitely something you want to share with a friend (or beautiful girlfriend). The calories and the sheer size of the thing are something not to be attempted alone. The cheesesteaks here are solid, though not spectacular and the service is good. My cousin works here and he still eats the food after working there...that's as good an endorsement I can give to any restaurant like this.

Best pizza for miles around. Seriously, does NOT get any better. White, regular, margharita, anything. Meglio is the best.

sad to say i have to give this one a 1 star review. the food is decent, my husband and i used to eat her about once a week, simply because it was convenient and they had friendly staff. ironically most of their wait staff are studying nursing. Then my health declined and i had to get a service dog. I even called ahead to let them know i would be bringing my new service dog to the restaurant and asked when it might be less crowded since she is fairly large. (its a small restaurant). i got told it would be no problem and to try to arrive before 5pm. i arrived at 4:00 and in direct violation of the law, i was told that i was unwelcome. That the dog that means i get to stay out of a wheelchair a little longer could not be in the restaurant, and neither could my father's hearing ear dog. (he has been deaf since age 6 and had a service dog for over 10 years ) they said they only allowed people who were blind to have service dogs, never mind the ADA or the Federal or State laws that say otherwise.Never mind that she had on her vest (not legally required) or her ID card (ditto) or the brochure from the STATE GOVERNOR saying they cant do that. discrimination against their disabled patrons? their food isnt good enough to put up with it.

I love Meglio's, but I just got CRAZY sick / food poisoning from one of their chicken cheese steaks. My wife and I ordered delivery and our food was there within ten minutes, which I guess should have set off an alarm, but we were just happy to have our food so quickly. I got violently ill for 24 hours (I'm starting to feel a little better now); I had given my cat a piece of the chicken and he threw it up in the middle of the night, too. I recommend going there in person to get your food. We're going to be staying away for a little while, though.

This place is just awful. Their driver told me they keep their grilled chicken in a sink. Most of their waitresses have a terrible attitude. Their managers are rude and make comments about you if you come in when they want to close over an hour and a half before their posted business hours say they are due to close. Honestly what kid of business doesn't honor their posted hours? Their wood fired pizza will be burnt on one half and undercooked/raw on the other half, not to mention a sauce that tastes like sugar that is poorly distributed on the pizza. This place has gone way down hill and I couldn't bring myself to reccomend it to even my worst enemy. Go elsewhere for your own good, unless you want to over pay for poor rude service, horrible sanitation/health procedures, and poor business practices.

Best pizza in the world? No. Best pizza I have ever had? No. Best pizza in Newtown? You bet! The young people that work there are really nice and make you feel so welcome.

The pizza here is really yummy. You can smell the wood burning oven when you walk in. The staff is really nice as well! You want to make sure you order pizza off the green menu ( which is the wood fired pizzas). Haven't had the other pizza that isn't wood fired. The margharita pizza is really good, and their ingerdients are very fresh. make sure you ask them to make the pizza well done as the bottom always tends to be chewy and slightly underdone ( and i like the bottom if my pizzas a little welldone) so ask them to keep it in a little longer. Also ask them for some extra sauce on the pizza. I know it's just a light sauce but there isn't enough sauce on it for my Taste. I have had a chicken cheesesteak from here which really wansnt that good. The roll was soggy and the meat was dry. Just stick with the pizzas from here and you will be happy!

The pizza here is really yummy. I love a good, saucy, thin crust pizza, and they hit the nail on the head. The margharita pizza is really good, and their ingerdients are very fresh. Just make sure you ask them to make the pizza well done as the dough tends to be chewy and slightly underdone if you don't ask them to cook it longer.

In was in the area on business and asked everyone where is the best pizza place around. It was unanimous, everyone said go to Meglio's and I am glad I did. Friendly staff, nice dining area, fast service, reasonable and clean. They have a real wood burning brick oven. I ordered the Margarita pie and it was outstanding. Perfecto. They have a nice menu and looking at what the lunch crowd was ordering everything looked good. It is no wonder why this place has been voted as Buck County's best (says so on the menu). I will definitely come back to this place again.

Nice small-town feel stop. Local people will love it. You'll feel like a local if you stop in. Too loud and too small for a meeting. Cheese steaks and pizza are great.

Ok, I don't consider myself a pizza connoisseur, but I'm close. This pizza is NOT as good as everyone else says. Every time I've had it the crust is burnt, hard, and gross. Beside the bad crust situation, the actual pizza is rather tasteless. Go to Newtown Pizza--it's way better!

  • A R.

Went back after many years hoping to have a good pizza. What a disappointment! The salad was mostly iceberg lettuce with croutons. We ordered a Margarita with onions and spinach. The spinach tasted freezer burned and the pizza was tasteless. Now I know why I stopped coming! The worst pizza in Newtown!!

Good pizza. They use good ingredients and with the brick oven, the pizza tastes great! However, they need to work on their salads. A salad consisting of mostly Iceberg lettuce is just plain terrible.

  • Tony L.

Flat out, I love this place. They have very good pizza, excellent chicken cheese steaks, fantastic soups, all for a fair price in a kid-friendly atmosphere. Never once have I been disappointed in their service. Are there better places for fancy pizza? Sure, but not in the Newtown/Yardley area. And I'm not dragging my kids to Center City or NYC for pizza. By the way, I'm a beef/steak guy through and through but I get the Buffalo chicken cheesesteak regularly and they have a grilled veggie sandwich with provolone that even I would order. My wife loves their chicken salad sandwich. I've been a repeat customer for about a decade now.

i might be biased because i live in newtown, but i'm a big fan of meglio's pizza. great balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings. their other food is solid as well, but i usually order a medium pie. if you're in the area and looking for some good food, meglio's is one of the best places newtown has to offer.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
