I'd say that the food is here average. You can get the same quality meal elsewhere. It's not a place I'd go out of my way to take company. The portion sizes are pretty large and so are the prices.

Pretty Restaurant, EXTREMELY overrated. Lunch for 2: $44 plus tip: ceasar salad was good. chicken parmesan was small, thin, and the breading was like a cake, really gritty and mushy. in my opinion, FAIR at best. in actuality it was one of the top ten worst i've had. the sauce was good , if a bit sweet. the ziti served UNDER the chicken was fair. but...really? $5 extra for a spoonful? not sure if i'll be back. certainly not for lunch which was ridiculously over-priced.

Our party of 8 had a 7:45 pm reservation last night. I know it was a Friday night, but the owners did absolutely nothing to encourage the lingering group seated in the table the hostess said was intended for us, even though they had finished and paid long ago. After waiting for 45 minutes in a crowded area with absolutely no room to stand without being bumped into by both customers and staff, and no sign of being seated anytime soon, we left. We will not be returning anytime soon.

Gone here twice for family style holiday parties at work and was not disappointed. The best family style restaurants are still Maggianos and Carmine's though. The parking is fairly good as the place is cute. Has a decent bar.

Hey, La Stalla. If you're open until 10pm, why were you hovering over us, rushing us, shoving the bill at us at 9:30? It was my mom's birthday, for God's sake! I was still eating my pasta when our server (who was otherwise excellent, attentive, and extremely friendly) brought out her birthday dessert. I can't complain, it was free and a very nice gift, but it sucks to eat dessert and then go back to your main dish. I got the pasta di marco, and it was OK. I was imagining something very different. The veal was SO DRY and definitely overcooked. My mom thought it was beef when she tasted it. The "wild mushrooms" were pretty bland. The sauce was just meh. Very wine-y. Too much so. And I couldn't taste even the tiniest hint of truffle oil, and I could drink truffle oil out of the bottle, I'm so addicted to it. For the price, this dish gets half a star. Really very disappointing. The only redeeming quality was the fusilli; I did enjoy those fresh noodles. The calamari was fair. Two stars for that dish, although the $15 "double" portion wasn't THAT big. Probably worth $10. My mom commented that the squid were very small and not as tender as they used to be (she says that the old chef left to open another restaurant in town). I liked them, though. My mom got veal pulcinella, which was pretty good. Three and a half stars for that, only brought down because the portion was tiny. It doesn't come with a starch to fill you up. The mound of mozzarella on it was great for a cheese lover like me, but I imagine many people would find it too much. The veal, again, was a bit tough and lacking in flavor. The red pepper taste overpowered it. The best part of the meal was the warm bread with garlic and olive seasoned dipping oil. Yum! Three of us ate two entire bowls! We even ate the roasted garlic cloves and whole olives marinating in it. Also, the $25 bottle of Riesling was a pretty good deal. They have a whole page of $25 bottles. Overall, I think La Stalla has pretty standard Italian fare classed up with a great interior decorator and stellar wait staff. They get away with their high prices because they're in Newtown, but I doubt they'd make it in a normal town.

Was in your restaurant in Newtown on Mother's Day...We did have reservations...It was way overcrowded... Too many tables... We were in a large group. We ordered couple pitchers of Sangria. Waiter brought us 2 pitchers of Lemonade. We told him that it may be Lemonade and he insisted that it was Sangria... Then after talking to bartender he admitted that it was Lemonade and they were out of Sangria. The glasses were really dirty ... just like they weren't washed... I could feel particles of food on them... I asked for a clean glass and the waiter gave me another dirty glass... Restrooms were dirty... Needless to say that I was disappointed...

i know a lot of of people that absolutely LOVE this place! I think this place is good/average. FYI if you order the chicken parmigiana it doesn't come with pasta! The service is great though!

Came here with a clasamate for lunch. We were looking for something filling and quick. I had the cheese ravoli and calmari... What can I say it was great. My friend had the grilled chicken and said the flavors of the chicken, the grilled peppers and mozzella sandwich was very tasty. I will be returning soon...

Excellent experience. Great food and penty of it. The servers are helpful and attentive throughout the meal. And they just agreed to carry a guten-free beer for my husband, in addition to already having gluten-free pasta and cooking gluten free versions of many entrees. We'll definitely be back.

This is the best place to go in Newtown! The food, staff, and atmosphere is top notch - enjoy with family or friends.

Food here is average, nothing great. We find it too rich with heavy sauces. The setting is nice, especially outside in the summer and bar on the weekends, but we never go for the food.

I really wanted this to be more than it was. The restaurant itself is beautiful. An old farmhouse with exposed beams and open kitchen. We were disappointed with the food but enjoyed the bar and wines. Again, I wish i could say different because just the environment was certainly an experience. To be wowed by food, look elsewhere.

This review is strictly for the customer service I received recently for my first take out order. I find the food here to be definitely 5 stars. I had a Living Social deal I had purchased with the intent to use it on my birthday. I ended up giving birth on my birthday! My husband called for take out to bring to the hospital for a special birthday meal. He explained to them this was going to the hospital and please pack it well and that we will need plastic utensils. Also he asked for mashed potatoes with my chicken franchaise And they said they couldn't do that. When he picked up the food they said he couldn't use the LS deal on take out (nothing mentioned on the actual voucher regarding this. Very disappointing). Upon opening everything to eat there were no utensils and also just two pieces of chicken, not even a pasta or vegetable side. For an order that cost over $80 it was a very disappointing experience. We eat here often and have hosted a couple of special events here. This experience wasn't like any others we had there. It was sad that more care wasn't taken especially considering my husband had told them about the baby etc

I love the menu. It is also great to just meet friends for drinks and apps. The nightlife tends to be a 40+ but very happening. The restaurant area is good for people with kids before 6, or handling groups.

Yesterday my bridal shower was hosted at La Stalla. Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, the mimosas were overflowing, and the staff were spectacular. Not only do I love La Stalla for brunch, anytime; but also, without being biased, I really can't think of a better place that I have been, or that I have wanted, to host a shower/event. My sincere thanks to all of the staff for making this such a wonderful event!

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. A group of 23 of us went there last night for a birthday party. Our reservation was for 6.30. We ended up being seated at 7.30. When we went in to get our table at 6.30 we were told that the other party hadn't left yet and it would be 15 minutes. The hostess said she would come to the bar and let us know. We went back out to the bar, where we had all lost our seats, and waited. 15 min past..20..30..40...no hostess, no nothing. The same party was still sitting at the table. They had to ask them to leave! We finally got seated. 5 min, 10 min..no menus, bread, nothing. When we asked for menus we were told they didn't have any for us!! We also had TO ASK for some bread and olive oil! We sat there like idiots having to ask for everything. This is over an hour now that we were waiting and we were all really hungry. We spoke to the manager and he said he would give us 3 measely bottles of wine, which someone said wouldn't be enough for 23 people. They weren't. When we told him that and that we wanted more wine, he said he thought 3 bottles was "quite generous." Unreal! Generous!! We waited an hour AFTER our reservation to be seated, then waited for menus, then for bread and olive oil, then for wine glasses. The manager, Marc, was "generous" enough to give us 2 more bottles gratis. This all on top of paying $8 for the worst white wine sangria I have ever had, with 1/2 of a overripe strawberry in it and bitter as heck. I'm a bartender, I should know. The patrons are pretentious. the bartenders are mediocre, the food is so-so and overpriced, the waitstaff is horrid, and the manager acted like an idiot. I guess a party of 23 and the chance of a lot of return business wasn't enough for La Stalla.

Used my living social coupon to have a special lunch with my gal friend. It's always a wonderful atmosphere and not too busy at lunchtime. I had the pasta puttanesca that was out of this world with, bursting with flavors. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich and was very happy along with a nice glass of wine. We shared a delicious chocolate desert with some warm fudgy stuff inside which I loved. If you haven't been here in awhile go!!! Without the coupon it would have been pricey, but always nice for special accaisions.

hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the area. love the food, the staff, all of it.... however, I just wouldn't recommend brunch on major holidays. that was the only time I could say the food was average and the service, well not so good. other than that, awesome place.

I agree that the food is good, and most of what you order is a good portion. The place is pricey. I just do not understand how an Italian restaurant has the nerve to not include pasta with the shrimp or veal parm or chicken parm. I had to pay $5.00 for each portion of pasta as a side dish and it was about 5 spoonfuls. I have never been to an Italian restaurant that didn't include pasta with the entree, and I have been to a lot of Italian restaurants. I understand the concept of ala carte but not for pasta at an Italian restaurant. Pasta is so cheap that they should include it. Does anyone agree with me?

My wife and I ate here this evening, and I've come away with much mixed feelings. First, we had to wait over an hour to get seated. I figured that maybe it was a good sign so many people were willing to wait. After sitting down, we had to move twice before finally being given a table for good. Seeing we were extremely hungry and a bit disgruntled by this point, the manager brought us a complimentary vegetable appetizer dish almost immediately. This was very much needed and appreciated, and helped clear our minds of the wait and shuffle. The wait staff was on top of things, and the food was good. I ordered chicken parmigiana, and though the portion was large, it lacked sufficient cheese and sauce. I also did not realize that for $17 it would come with nothing. Not even a side of pasta! Still, I didn't leave hungry on account of the appetizer and amazing bread with olive oil. We had a cannoli for desert, which was quite good. All in all, it was not bad. Food is mostly very good, but a bit pricey. Will we be back? I don't know...

Originally built in 1929, the restored historic Lovett Barn is now home to a trattoria that caters to homemade Italian cuisine. lastallarestaurant.com/m… The pasta's and sauces are homemade, the prices are a little on the high side. The dinner menu priced for two, can be split in half for one and add $3.00. The clams casino are very good and seasoned perfectly with red pepper, onion and bacon. The Marsala dishes are exceptional, with your choice of chicken or veal. They offer a large list of ways to have your chicken or veal, like Francese, parmigiano, saltimbocca and so on. The choices of pasta entrees could drive you insane, you name it, they make it. The choices for both lunch and dinner is a wide selection from the appetizers to the salads and the great variety of entrees. The antipasto choices are more than most Italian restaurants offer. Check them out at and while visiting their site, check out their calendar for discounts and half price bottle of wine nights. They serve a Sunday buffet which is a great and tasty value.

I was here for a reunion and I have to say that this place was pretty accommodating considering how busy it was. We were outside and the food was served promptly and the staff at the outdoor bar were friendly and funny. The food was ok but no one cared..... There was a guy with a KEYTAR - yes, a KEYTAR - playing outside trying to get the group to get down with his badass style!
Great food and service. Looking forward to getting back to the area to visit again

Really should be 3.5 since it's Newtown, but the food is only "A-OK". 3 dishes we got were the tortellini & bolognese, penne carbonara, and linguine w/ clams in white wine sauce. The first 2 were good, in fact the carbonara was delicious, but the linguine was a let down due to lack of flavor. Another downer was that we were sitting near some very loud drunks, but hey it was the holidays so you kinda expect that. Would probably go again since choices are kinda limited in the area.

I use La Stalla for entertaining family and friends on special occasions. For instance if one person has a birthday, four or five couples might celebrate at La Stalla. It used to be that all the food was excellent and the Sunday brunch was a favorite. The last couple of times I have been disappointed with the quality of the food and the increased use of "bought' food rather than created "in-house". For instance anyone can defrost those little cream puffs and mini eclairs you get in a supermarket. I object to paying premium prices to have them served to me on a plate. The Mother's Day Brunch was a real problem for us. Forget the hugely inflated price. The restaurant was overbooked so that tables were crammed together with no place to walk. The buffet was placed in a long narrow room with food displays on one side and carving and omelet station on the other. There was barely room to pass, so with the omelet station and waffles hopelessly backed up and people at the food displays, you had gridlock. There were handwritten signs 'Brunch In' and Brunch Out' to this narrow room. But if you know the layout, people in the main dining room would be at the wrong end to go in. They would have to travel to the front of the restaurant up two steps, pass the greeters podium, and down two steps to get in. Of course very few people took this long way around through the maze of tables. They entered the 'Out' door and added to the gridlock for food. The food itself was not what it used to be. The fresh mozzarella on the Caprese was now a much more manufactured quality and cut into very small pieces so that people took a few small pieces and left a platter full of large tomato slices. The only bread was bagels. No rolls. No Italian bread. No biscuits or muffins. and surely no croissants. The carving station has three meats, overdone beef, dried out pork, and I didn't want to try what I think was ham..The only eggs were omelets, So you waited in line if you wanted an egg. A watery chicken Marsala, penne with ricotta and sauce, and a fish dish. They had pancakes and waffles apparently made in the kitchen ans brought out to the waffle station.. Truly I have never seen a restaurant bring a waffle out of the kitchen and stick it in the waffle iron to reheat it in front of the customer. My mouth was watering for such a 'freshly-made' delight. On the good side, Service has always been friendly and quick Although today it was evident that all the employees were stressed by the crowd, and the complaints about the setup, the food and the price. Now I cannot have another bad experience for my groups. they will lose faith in my judgment and I have lost faith in La Stalla. I will have to find another place to go. Maybe I will come back in a few months on my own to check out a dinner and a brunch.

The cheeseballs are amazeballs! Also, they have a bocce court near the outside bar! I'm only giving it 3 stars because I don't know how the food tastes (besides the cheeseballs).

This is a great atmosphere restaurant with good italian dishes. The wait staff is always busy, and not overly attentive, but the food is good and they are accommodating to special request. The menu is vast, but not overwhelming. We have been several times and have yet to have a bad meal. I would recommend the restaurant, but don't be in a rush.

In Italian, La Stalla means "stable." As in "barn." Not really the best name for a restaurant but there is a reason behind it. The building that houses "La Stalla" was a dairy barn many moons ago. The rustic ambience creates a feeling of dining on the Tuscan Italian countryside. OK, not really, but it's a pretty cool spot. One important thing to note about this restaurant is that all food is served family style. Enough for two. Normally I would love this because it gives you the opportunity to try several dishes. But if you are only two, it means you need to agree on one dish you want to share. This can be challenging, especially if you're dining with a vegetarian, as I was, and you're not. However for a bigger group of at least four, I think this style of eating would be a bonus. We started off with the cold vegetable antipasto. It came with olives, roasted red peppers, grilled portabellas, zucchini, asparagus, green beans and some hard cheese, most likely parmesan. Not the most amazing dish, but good and more interesting than getting just a salad. They also serve nice crusty bread with olive oil for dipping. For our entree, we had the pappardelle with pesto. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was too, absolutely delicious. My one other visit to La Stalla, which was also an excellent experience, was for lunch. This is not served family style. The menu is extensive. View it at lastallarestaurant.com/d… . Reservations are only available for parties of six or more. Bonus - they have a bocce court!

As soon as we entered La Stalla, I felt this was going to be a great dinner. We ordered. Everything was going well. I got an eggplant dish for starters.....Almost started eating it, when I discovered that they rolled a slice of ham in the eggplant....YUCK. Being a vegetarian, it would suck quite a bit to eat ham. Lost my appetite instantly and didnt eat anything else. Ordering the eggplant without asking "is there any meat in it" was definitely my mistake. But, unfortunately, I have had this same dish in other restaurants and they never add any meat in it. so, my experience here was pretty bitter. I must compliment the waitstaff who decided to remove the item from our bill. Other people in our party liked the food. Sadly, I am giving this place a "1". I am sure it can do better...especially if you are a meatatarian.

All I can say is wow. Soft shell crab appetizer is amazing. tortellini bolognese is to die for - the meat sauce is one of the best I have had (next to Onda in Vegas). You can order this for 2, and eat it yourself and take the left overs home and eat it again. I also had the calamari - just average, and the pressed chicken - also very good. This place was busy and crowded on a thursday night. Great atmosphere and vibe. I usually dont leave center city when I am in town, but my friends have been bragging about this place for over a year. I finally broke down and left the city, and well worth it. Also, the prices are super-reasonable. I will return here again and again.

Maybe it's just because I'm so sick of Italian food this week, but I'm giving it 3 stars. maybe like 3.75. And I never get sick of Italian food because it's my FAVORITE but...Anyway. Came here with a huge party (about 45+) for work. Good place for a group. The seating arrangement was rather odd; they sat us all in a long long line of tables, two on each side. My co-worker described it as the Last Supper. I laughed. The bar is small but cute in the front. They have a decent amount of wine by the glass (note: I didn't see a wine list since I was in a large party). Once seated we had really good service; no excessive waiting, which was surprising for a large party. Ordered a few bottles of wine. Had the parmesan bread with warm spinach, olives, roasted bell peppers...it was good. The spinach was REALLY fresh and I loved it. I'll upload a pic soon. The salad was good. Again, fresh mixed greens. A little heavy on the dressing, but not too bad. It also had some hard chunks of cheese; I think it as parmesan. And some salami, which I think it could have done without. Next up: Fried Mozzarella. Better than a typical friend mozzarella since it was soaked in a nice marinara sauce instead of served dry with a dipping sauce. I guess logistically they had a hunk of mozzarella, then sliced it, breaded it, and fried it. These were not mozzarella sticks...Next up: a garlicky penne type pasta with broccoli. That was light and fresh. We also had the gnocchi. The tomato sauce was really good. Eggplant Parmesan next. Skipped that - not normally a fan. Then Chicken Marsala. That was good too. It was almost like I was in some region of Italy since it was served in courses. You know, when they give you the meat separately and the veggies separate, and pasta separate. So nothing is ever really on your plate at the same time. Not sure if it was just because we were in such a large party. Other family style places give you everything relatively together. Anyway. Nice place for a group. I'm sure I'll be back when I'm in town!

I've had many dinners here over the years and have always enjoyed the homemade, fresh Italian food. The menu is extensive with a ton of pasta dishes to choose from plush many chicken and veal options too. It's true that the dishes are serves family style -- each serving 2, but they do allow you to split them in hald and order for 1 (charging a little more). The last time I went, we ate outside on a beatiful summer night, and it was wonderful. I had never realized that there is also a bocce ball court on the patio. Overall, this place is a little pricey, but has some of the best Italian food in Newtown!

I've heard about this place from many friends, so I wanted to try it out. Some of the best italian food I've had in bucks county. However, I would suggest going here with a larger group of people (at least 4-5) since they serve portions for 2 and it's great to order a few entrees and pass them around the table. I went here for my bf's brother's graduation dinner with his family, and it was the perfect amount of food for us. The waiter was a little clueless, but he was young and I think he had mentioned that he just started working there recently, so we cut him a break. The prices aren't actually too bad, considering how much food you actually get. We had a chicken dish and a seafood dish, and both were equally good. Also, despite the review I saw below, I thought the eggplant appetizer was excellent. It is a thin slice of eggplant rolled around a thin slice of ham and some cheeses, but I think the ham brings out the flavor of the eggplant. (and I do remember it saying it had ham in it on the menu). Just sayin. The inside is pretty and they do have outdoor seating, which I would like to try one of these days since I've only ever sat inside.

Was hungry for Italian food and La Stalla came highly recommended. Sitting at a table, you can almost imagine you are in Italy. The food was good as was the service. Ordered an appetizer and two entrees and our bill was just 50.00-- not bad at all! Especially because we munched on the leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day!

Had dinner on this Fat Tuesday evening. Hearty dishes that's what I can say! We actually had a party of 20 people and ordered the following dinner package: - Appitizers: Special Garlic Bread (comes with tender mushrooms and grilled jalapinio peppers, interesting taste but good) + Tender Calamari battered and fried (taste a bit mild but it comes with salsa dip) - Traditional Ceasar Salad (good) - 2 kinds of pastas (red and white) - 3 meaty dishes: pan-seared pork chops (with grilled hot cherry peppers and tender mushrooms, all veggines are surprisingly spicy and hot, very interesting!), Veal (breaded and pan fried), and Chicken (breaded and pan fried) - Desert Platter (ice cream, banana split, and slice of fruit pies) - Australian Wine If I have to say something less satisfactory that would be the restroom, only one toilet seat in each restroom considering a restaurant with a capacity of approximately 100+- people.

Been here 3 times over the past year or so. The best time I had was sitting outside on a summer night. The service is always good. Food was good 2 out of the 3 times I went. I would not recommend the pork that is one of thier daily specials (Tuesday or Thursday, I cant remember which). Not only was the pork cooked to death, but it was quite expensive, if my memory serves me correct it was $55 or so. I have had probably 10 other dishes and they were all great.

We were there for lunch and got to sit outside on a gorgeous day. The food beginning with the arugula salad was delicious. I had the lamb chops while the rest of the family chose various pastas. All the food was very well done and carried a rustic authenticity. The bread and seasoned olive oil commented the meal superbly. Service was prompt and timely but there weren't too many people so not a surprise. I would definitely go back.

I am giving it 3 stars because of the service. The service is very slow and the menu is over priced. The positives are they have out door seating, the ambiance is nice and the food is good but not great. I have been here twice & after giving it a second chance I'm still not impressed enough to give more than 3 stars.

This is one of those times when I really wanted to like a place but the small details that they can't perfect just render it a two star experience and exercise in just refueling. I came in for lunch today with my boyfriend. The ambiance seemed very nice and we were seated by the row of windows. We were brought warm bread which was delicious. It kind of went downhill from there. Flies started appearing and were flying all around while we waited for our food. We counted 7 of them. We asked to change our table to a more internal part of the restaurant and it was a little better. Flies in a restaurant (especially a "fine dining" place) are not a good sign. They forgot my pasta fagioli soup which which I found to be strange since there were just a few customers and it was not like they were overwhelmed. They did give it to me with my main meal with apologies and it was pretty good and did not charge me for it. Main dish (chicken with peppers and Gorgonzola) was ok. Coffee was pretty good. Also had two kinds of music playing at the same time which is a pet peeve of mine. Basically ok food but with stars taken off due to the flies and the absence of small but important details. I wonder how the service is when they are busy. Not sure if I will be back.

My mother in law and our family recently hosted a transitional repast for my father in laws passing, we chose La Stalla for the 100 guests and family, even though the procession arrived late the staff were very accommodating. Many of our guests flew in , the food was outstanding, some of our guests had previously been turned off by "bad calamari " at other restaurants, they tried it again here and had nothing but praise at the taste and texture , each course arrived in a timely fashion no rush to finish even though we had basically taken over the main dining room and an adjacent smaller room ( keep in mind they still had the regular diners to serve) the family style service combined with a warm atmosphere has always been a place to dine with good company, plus being out of the city the parking is abundant and free

With pleanty of Italian dinig options in the area La Stalla is still top and absolutly consistant with the level of food they put out. Service is outstanding (our go to waiter is Kevin - can not say enought good things). Menu is smiple with great option for family style dining or individual. Nice inside bar for a drink before dinner. In the nice weather the outdoor dining and bar really make for the perfect place to get out and relax with a drink or killer meal. Our family eats here on a regular basis (with 2 kids under 3) and it never disapoints.

The food is very good and the decor is lovely. They have very good portion sizes and ate very generous with bread. Everything about the meal itself was great, but where it drops the two stars is with its service. The meal took well over 2 hours which was incredibly long by our standards. While I do recommend the food I must warn anyone who goes to clear their calender.

I've been here twice now for family dinners. Very pretty family style restaurant. I have tried a variety of food items including: Mozzarella In Carrozza Eggplant Rollatini La Stalla Antipasto Di Casa Penne Alla Vodka Tagliatelle Alla Romana Chicken Saltlnbocca Alia Romana Veal Parmigiana Chicken Sorrentino The food is delicious! The service is friendly and decent for a large group. Need more help serving drinks and filling up water glasses.

Possibly one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Fantastic food, great ambiance with a rustic Italian feel inside. The chicken parm is top notch and their homemade tomato sauce is delicious. The service is rather slow but once the food arrives you'll quickly forget how long you've waited. La Stalla really provides a great Italian experience from the interior of the restaurant to the bocce ball court outside. I highly recommend dining here as the food never disappoints!

I stopped in Saturday before meeting a friend in Newtown. The staff was friendly and they seemed to know a lot of their customers. This is typically a good sign for me, as poorly run eateries rarely ever last long. The restaurant is cozy and there were a lot of people there at the time. The front area and the bar area get pretty tight after 6pm. The menu consists mostly of Italian standards. There were a few exceptions. Overall, the quality of the food and the ingredients was good. However, most of the dishes are a bit heavy-handed for my taste. They are a bit "bulky", as in too much food. The extra ingredients make the main ingredient disappear (my chicken had too much mozzarella and too many stalks of asparagus. Overall, however, the dish was good. The service is great and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I would be ok with less food and more attention to the details as far as the food.

Been here twice over the last six months and enjoyed each time. It's mine and my husband go to place for a nice dinner out without the the kids. Always friendly attentive service too. Highly recommend.

I have never not had a good meal here and that's saying something considering we come to La Stalla at least once a month. The fish is fresh, the pasta is amazing and the desserts are fabulous. The waitstaff are also great. They pay attention and have never messed up one of my orders. All in all a great place to eat out!

Just fabulous! Our server Dan was perfect- the ambiance was so inviting- both couple and family friendly- gosh I would def go with my girlfriends as well for that matter. All was delish as always- I had shrimp gamborno- excellent. Husband had veal parm and fettuccine alfredo- had enough for 2nd meal at home! Reasonable priced- fresh quality cuisine and the place was clean. oh, I am still working off the bread! Loved it! Always loved it there- it had been a few months and it is still amazing!

The old stable is now populated by diners enjoying the bucolic, high beamed ceiling, stone floors and exposed kitchen. If outdoor dining in nice weather is your thing, you can be easily accommodated next to the boccie court and outdoor bar. It seems I am there most often for special community events, and the layout works well for isolating small groups in places that do not overly interfere with the regular dinner patrons. The food is family style Italian, meaning if there are more than 3 of you, many of the dishes come piled high and placed centrally on the table where everyone can partake. The food has always been solid, both meats, fowl and pasta. The service is much better than average, with black and whites hustling around to be sure everyone is getting what they expect in a timely and friendly, while professional manner. The last event buffet consisted of Chicken Francaise, Vodka Rigatoni, Eggplant Rolatini, Grilled Veggies, Italian Bread. All worth the price of admission. Sure glad someone thinks enough of their guests to schedule a social/political event in such pleasant surroundings.

Food amazing!!!!! Butttt As soon as we walked in we talked to a more than flustered hostess. Then just decided to grab seats at the outside bar. Lovely. Good wine. Butt the bartender kinda forgot about us and that was no fun. Besides all this the music is so weird. It switches all the time. Rap country house pop. I was confused. I watched a hostess playfully insult someone for smoking a cigarette next to an ash tray.... Idk. Weird. Great food just a awkward experience.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner last night with friends. The appetizers were amazing and entrees were even better.I had the salmon as my main course and it was the best I have had in a long time. The crowd is always upbeat and fun. It's been a while since i was last there but everything was so perfect last night promised myself to have dinner here again sometime soon.

Terrific restaurant - fresh food - great atmosphere - excellent staff. We have been here many times and it is our go to place for large family (7+) gatherings. The menu is good for kids to senior citizens. My wife and I like this for date night dinners as well.

STAY AWAY, Unless you are the owners friend or family, expect bad, little or no service at all. The owner seated two of his friends / regular's before our party and another party that was waiting with us at the bar when we were there on Friday night. Not only did the owner walk up to the hostess and say these are my friends seat them ahead of everyone, he was drinking and parting with his friends in the corner directly behind the hostess station. He could have cared less about paying customers. He kept bragging to everyone that his grandmothers 90th birthday was tonight. As a customer, I really don't care that your having a family party at your location, what i do care about is being treated like a second class citizen who's money isn't green. And I can assure you, mine is green but LA Stalla will not be seeing anymore of my money anytime soon. Check out the saloon a 1/4 mile away, much better food and much better service.

Food is excellent. Service continues to suffer. Was seated on their outdoor (barely enclosed) patio during the recent Polar Vortex - you know, those days it was barely 8 degrees? Let's just say, even with their heat pumping into the patio, a heavy coat was required for dinner. To make matters worse, I sit down and immediately my pants are soaking wet (not my doing!). I stand up to realize there is a hole in the patio enclosure and snow had been melting and dripping onto my seat. We took it upon ourselves to move to the next table, and when the server arrived we explained why we moved our seat. No apology, just a reply of "it's okay, that table is also set for 2" - as in, we moved ourselves to an appropriate alternate dining location - no mention or concern about me sitting in a freezing puddle. I'm not looking for freebies because the dining room is freezing and I got a wet bum from sitting on their chair. However, most dining establishments of this caliber would offer a free appetizer or dessert in addition to an apology from not only the server, but the manager. I guess the food is good enough we keep coming back, even though we are constantly disappointed in their service. This is one of those places I'll come back to for the gnocchi which is my favorite, however I will NO LONGER bring friends, family, or business partners. P.S. Limited beer menu - not sure why they aren't on the craft beer bandwagon...

This Italian restaurant, in my opinion, is way way way overrated. The pasta dishes here lack any depth of flavor, and I still have yet to have a properly-cooked piece of meat here. Nonetheless, the apps are well-executed and the service is on-point. Sitting outdoors is also a plus, too, but the food is just not totally worth coming back for; it is sort of forgetful.

Wonderful friendly place with the BEST food in the area. Ask for the special of the day and go with the fish. Say hi to Louie for me. His influence in the kitchen is invaluable.

This is a cute, Italian, and charming restaurant in Newtown. As of today, this is my fourth time being here. One time previously for dinner, just this past week for lunch (my first visit for lunch also) and now for dinner again. The first time I came for dinner I got the Veal Parm, now I had the Penne Alla Vodka and Veal Parm. Needless to say, both were good overall. The Vodka sauce was a bit more on the watery side for what I'm used to but that might just be me, I like sauce a bit thicker. I got both portions for two (because I'm with my Boyfriend) and finished it all surprisingly. However, if you aren't that full and opt for the serving for two, you will probably not be able to finish. Also, everything is a bit more pricey because they focus on quality. Good experience every time I've been here overall. I will be back if I want some good Veal and Penne Alla Vodka and want a "nicer" night out for dinner at a "nicer" restaurant.

This place is horrible. The owner is a liar. I took my entire family here for Mothers day and the crab meat got everyone sick to the point we all vomitted on the way home. When I called the owner he said he send a gift card and never did. Hes a liar and cheap. I hope this place goes out of business. Its only still open because of its location and high prices. I know a company that has been inside their kitchen and they say its disgusting in there, don't eat here go somewhere not run by scum.

We only ordered drinks at the outside bar so I can't comment on the food. I heard La Stalla had a great "extended happy hour" on Thursday nights in the summer. There was music - no dance floor - and a lot of people standing around. Very few seats and I felt like I was hovering over people eating their dinner in some spots. There were seats at the inside bar though. The drinks we ordered were not the best but it may've just been the particular bartender that night. I'd like to try La Stalla for food but not the happy hour/nightlife it tries to have.

A real find in Newtown, Pennsylvania. We were looking for a place to host a lunch for about 30, and after looking at several restaurants we went with La Stalla. It was a great choice, Marc Masso, the owner, worked with us on price and selection to make sure what we wanted was delicious, ample and served with real flair and attention. The ambiance is great, the classic Italian cuisine exceptional. My only regret is I'm not in the area often enough to make La Stalla my go-to place for dinner. Highly recommended.

The only negative at this place for me was the young hostess in the front (tall, dark hair) she didn't seem like she was interested in where the customers wanted to sit. Now lets get to everything that is good about the place; Service great from Eric, we sat outside and he was awesome View; spectacular/ Had the live guitarist playing, he was amazing Food; Mussels Marinara, Shrimp App, Arugula Salad, Lamb Chops, Soup of the Fish Pasta meal, Mojitos = All Fantastic, and trust me, I know good food. No heart burn that night. Usually get it at over rated places that don't know what they're doing, not here. I think I seen "The Joker" in the kitchen, he is one of the best cooks to ever come out of Trenton. La Stalla is on point, spend your hard money here, opposed to a lot of junk places

After living in Philadelphia for several years, it was tough to move to the suburbs and leave all of those awesome restaurants behind. La Stalla is one of our favorite restaurants in Bucks county. The food is simply delicious and so reasonably priced! My favorite on the menu is hands down the truffle sacchetti. The sauce alone is to die for, but then you get to the inside of the pasta and an explosion of flavor happens AGAIN. The food here really is amazing. Wait staff is all very personable. They know their menu well, and the support staff is always refilling water and bread. It tends to get crazy busy here on weekends, so unless you have a reservation, expect a little bit of a wait. Their bar is very tiny and righ tby the entry way, so it tends to get a little clogged up with people waiting for tables. In the summertime, their outside deck is open which also has a bar and outdoor seating (which is lovely!). The decor is nice, although I won't take a table sitting in the direct main dining area because it is a bit too open and the tables are kind of crammed together. I prefer to sit off to the side or outside when available, but I'm also one of those people that needs a wall behind me when I go out to eat (so maybe it's just me!). The parking lot is kind of small, and in the spring Rita's is right there so you will be competing for parking with their patrons. Overall, this place is usually pretty jumpin, but in my opinion, it's because people love the food, the service, and the bang for your buck. Definitely a recommended restaurant for a night out in Newtown!

Met up with some old girlfriends from college at this spot last weekend, I have to say over all it was wonderful. La Stalla offers a rustic country meets romance atmosphere with a cozy bar and a hint of the finer dining. We started off each having a specialty martini from the drink list, which I have to say were delish! I had an espresso one myself, had I not been driving, I would have had two :) Appetizers were so tasty, we got calamari, and mussels in a marinara sauce....Perfect with their bread! Veal parmesan was my entree, I truly enjoyed it. Not over loaded with cheese or sauce, and over all very fresh. I was shocked that I was able to finish it, portions were not large though, and veal is on smaller side in general. Service was friendly and on point the whole time, we enjoyed our server, he had a great sense of humor. A great spot for sure!

Enjoyed dinner here with a friend using a Living Social Deal - What a treat! Their prices are a bit high, but the food and the atmosphere certainly delivers. I had the Bucatini San Daniel - which is a Bucatini pasta sauteed with prosciutto di Parma, walnuts and crabmeat, tossed in a white wine sauce topped with fresh arugola. I can't begin to describe how much I enjoyed my meal! Everything was fresh and delicious - and they had a great selection of wines to pair with dinner. The waitstaff was also ready to refill our bread basket and glasses of water right away. I like my Italian food to feature seafood or interesting ingredients - so their more affordable offerings aren't all that appealing to me - but I'll definitely be back here to celebrate something special or if they're listed for Living Social again for sure! Til then, I'll be more likely to sit down at Cosmos or Piccolo Trattoria. Be sure to make reservations if you're headed to La Stalla on the weekend, and be ready to search for parking! It's a very busy lot.

I recently came to La Stalla for dinner. My previous visit was in 2005. Yes, 7 years ago and my, things have changed. I was not impressed with anything here. We started off with the calamari fritti (half size portion) and it was okay. I must warn you that portion sizes are large here. Thank goodness we had only ordered the half size portion or we would have ended up with a platter of calamari. Ordering wine was a bit bizarre too. Why list wines on your menu that might not be available at the bar? The server had to constantly check to see if they had them. I ordered the gnocchi gorgonzola. As a girl that loves gnocchi, this tasted like nothing spectacular. More like grocery store bought gnocchi rather than freshly made gnocchi. My mother ordered the farfalle e gamberi (bowtie pasta with shrimp) and it was almost painful watching her eat it. She said even Olive Garden would have been better. My father ordered the 16 oz black angus strip which I sampled and tasted overcooked. We were hoping that maybe dessert would be better but our white chocolate covered bomba ice cream looked nothing like the picture on the menu. It was also topped with an excessive amount of whipped cream. Service was okay. Our waiter really just took our order and brought our dishes to us. Not much interaction. I'm not sure why everyone gives La Stalla so many stars. Our dining options in the suburbs is scarce but please at least be honest.

My date and I stopped in here for happy hour on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, they really did a nice job renovating the old barn that houses the restaurant. We stayed in the bar area and enjoyed a couple of appetizers and drinks. Everything was very tasty and the appetizers are half off for happy hour.

Update to La Stalla video. The owner saw my video online and called me. We ended up having a great conversation. He invited my family to dinner and apologize for what happen that evening. I'm so glad because the food is great and the vibe has been wonderful so I'm looking forward to returning to that vibe.

This was my second dinner while staying in Yardley for work. One of my colleagues told me that the restaurant used to be a barn so I wasn't sure what to expect. But when I walked in, I was blown away! I loved how the ceiling had exposed wood beams and the inside had a very warm cozy feeling. We got out own VIP room (which we presumed used to be where they store the hay). We decided to order our own entrees but share appetizers. For appetizers we had: - Bacon wrapped scallops (need I say more? Anything with bacon is da awesome) - Eggplant Rollatini (prosciutto + ricotta cheese ftw!) Funghi Siciliani (mushrooms were delicious with the butter sauce but I wasn't a fan of the sausage - too dry and under seasoned) - Arugola Casereccia (the arugula salad may not have been seasoned equally since I ate a piece that was drenched in salt - ugh! The mozzarella was delicious and tasty though) Since I ate an equivalent of a meal from the appetizers, I was almost entirely full before my entree arrived. I am glad I was stuffed since the dish I ordered (Penne Siciliana) was not very good. The pasta was overcooked, the sauce tasted overly salty/tangy and there was not enough mozzarella. Overall, I had a very enjoyable dining experience here. Yummy!

The food was pretty good, but the service was not. Here's a tip: when you have a party of 12 spending hundreds of dollars there, the last thing you want to do is rush them out. The waiter brought my mother-in-law's birthday cake immediately after we finished dinner with literally no time in between. Talk about inhospitable. I wouldn't go back there with a larger party. The restaurant is pretty but we are in the northeast with literally thousands of Italian restaurants to choose from--I'm going to pick the one with better service and more reasonable prices. The only reason why I'm giving it 2 stars is because the food is decent.

My family and I had a fantastic meal recently at La Stalla. It was so nice to be in a family restaurant where my wife and I were able to truly relax with our children. We had heard that the outside seating and bar area get busy on beautiful nights, so we asked to sit in the main dining room with a view of the open kitchen. The kids loved watching Ben and Louie handle all of the orders coming through. Marc and Vince were talking with lots of the customers and I thought it was great to see that they obviously value the friendships they've developed. Not to mention, the food was great!

What do you think this place is a barn? Well.... actually it is. The large family style portions will bring a smile to your face and satisfaction to your appetite. La Stalla is located in a renovated barn that was built back in 1929. The exposed wood beams and Tuscan decor really make you feel at home. I'm a fan of the open air kitchen that lets you watch as they turn out meal after meal. During the warmer months outside dining is available and is always a fun option. The menu is robust and diverse. I haven't had a below average meal at La Stalla and I don't think I ever will. With the abundance of Italian establishments in the Tri State area La Stalla rises to the top. If you go on a weekend night make sure to get there early because it gets packed.

Not crazy about this place. The menu is average and the food the same. Service was extremely slow. 20 minute wait anytime you asked for anything. I know it's a big hit for the local crowed but I'm just not getting it. Outside bar is nice. Will not be back.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Jelyn F.

(2)L F.

This place is amazing! Great service and staff are warm and friendly. Delicious antipasto and seafood. I live quite a distance, but definitely will return!

(5)Dan W.
This is the best place to go in Newtown! The food, staff, and atmosphere is top notch - enjoy with family or friends.
(5)Tracey K.
Food here is average, nothing great. We find it too rich with heavy sauces. The setting is nice, especially outside in the summer and bar on the weekends, but we never go for the food.
(3)Vincent M.
(2)Anony-mom C.
(3)Jeanne S.

(1)Barbara V.
(4)Tania Z.
hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the area. love the food, the staff, all of it.... however, I just wouldn't recommend brunch on major holidays. that was the only time I could say the food was average and the service, well not so good. other than that, awesome place.
(4)Margaret B.

The thing that I take most for granted living in Miami, is the abundance of incredible restaurants. This is not to say that I don't eat at them enough--because I do eat out a lot--but I just have become so accustomed to there always being a delicious food option of any variety at every price point. You want French food? There is a hole in the wall French bakery that can satisfy you with the best croissants and brie sandwiches for less than $5 (Le Royal). There is also a little brasserie in the grove that serves the best ceasar salads for $12 (Le Bouchon du Grove). Or you can splurge and enjoy a truely memorable foie gras and braised short rib burger for $30 (Db Bistro Moderne). And Cuban food? Well you can get that delicious anywhere, for either dirt cheap, cheap, or accurately priced. The only type of food that I believe Miami lacks in variety is Chinese. It's weird, Miami only does upscale Chinese. There is no greasy, grungy, make you feel sick to your stomach (but all at the same time delicious) kind of Chinese food. Then again, this could be a great step in the evolution of American eating habits, so I won't really complain--although I do crave my oil-drenched Lo Mien from time to time! But enough of my tangent and back to the point! It wasn't until this spring break that I realized just how fortunate I am as a foodie to be living in Miami. I'm back in Philadelphia for break and when my parents asked me to pick a place for dinner tonight, I suddenly realized that all the options were Italian. I love a good pasta dish and marsala sauce, but I also like to switch things up a little, and I just had Italian with Jen last night. But faced with choice of Italian or Italian, I chose my second favorite Italian restaurant (after Domani Star, where I ate last night) and decided on La Stalla located in Newtown. La Stalla is more conducive than Domani Star for large parties, so we usually eat all of our special occasion meals here. Both the food and service are predictable and consistently good, and the atmosphere is cozy and elegant. Wednesday nights are a fun night for people watching, since all the divorcees have their big "off night" from the kids and tend to post up at the bar, decked out in their most cougar-ish attire. It's dinner and a show. To start, my family always orders the Tuscan Table which is an antipasti spread complete with Sharp Aged Parmesan Cheese, Grilled Asparagus, Roasted Portobello Mushrooms, Roasted Red Peppers, Marinated Hot Peppers, Kalamata Olives, Marinated Artichoke Hearts, and Beans in Vinaigrette. This plate is also accompanied by warm Tuscan Bread and herbed dipping oil. It is usually the highlight of the meal for me because I can pick at all the different flavors while I sip my first cocktail and read over the dinner specials for the evening. My mom and I have even come just for drinks and the Tuscan Table before, because it is that good! My family's other favorite appetizer is the Mussels in Spicy Red Sauce, which are killer...enough said. Tonight I ordered one of my favorite pasta dishes here--the Penne Puttanesca, which is Penne Pasta sautéed with Kalamata Olives, Capers, Onion, Parsley, and Cherry Tomatoes in a White Wine Pomodoro Sauce. I typically like to switch out the penne pasta for a linguine, because I like twirling my pasta (silly, I know), but tonight I had the penne and it was just as delicious. The sauce is a light red sauce and the capers and olives add just the right saltiness to the dish. Bets of all, the food at La Stalla is always burn-your-mouth hot! Even the dishes are blistering hot, so there is no pressure to eat in a hurry before your food gets cold. My dad also ordered a pasta dish for his entrée and got the Farfalle e Gamberi, which is Bowtie Pasta sautéed with Shrimp, Grape Tomatoes, and Garlic in a Blush Pomodoro Sauce. I would never order a seafood pasta as my own entrée, but I had a few bites of his and loved it. The sauce was simple and delicious and they certainly weren't scant with the shrimp either! My dad and I also split a side order of Broccoli Rabe with Sautéed Garlic, which was phenomenal. They added a ton of garlic which took away from the bitterness of the legume, and it wasn't weighed down with oil so it felt nice and light. My mom dared to be different and ordered the Pork Chop Special, which was served with Roasted Potatoes and Broccoli Rabe. She was disappointed because the meat was well over-cooked and after a few bites decided to send it back and order a pasta dish as well. She ordered the Farfalle Mascarpone, which is Farfalle pasta sautéed with Mushrooms, Asparagus, and Grape Tomatoes tossed in a Creamy Mascarpone Cheese Sauce. The dish was rich, as expected, but the flavors were spot on and the pasta was perfectly cooked. It was an upscale macaroni and cheese, and it certainly delivered the same comfort. I was also impressed by how quickly they managed to get her new dish to the table. She waited no more than 8 minutes!

(1)Nelly D.
The cheeseballs are amazeballs! Also, they have a bocce court near the outside bar! I'm only giving it 3 stars because I don't know how the food tastes (besides the cheeseballs).
(3)Eli S.
(4)Heather L M.

(1)Aman S.

(4)Joe O.
We keep going back and trying new menu items. I love their veal saltimbocca. Service is great too.

had a blast last night~~~ I think??? good food... drinks... and friends!!! thanks, Dave Giff
(4)Kim H.
(4)Donna S.
(3)Ann P.
I've been here many times. Good place to go for a large group. loud and crowded. But food and service is always good.
(4)Frank G.
Excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere. A perfect place to go with your spouse and even your kids if you want. A favorite place to go of mine.
(4)Eric W.
In my opinion La Stalla is the best italian restaurant in bucks county. Everything that I've had here has been good. Service is very attentive and a good selection of wines. Great atmosphere also with outside seating in the summer.
(5)Yan Z.

Great place good mucis and fun
(5)Adam M.
(4)A B.
(5)Valerie B.
I am giving it 3 stars because of the service. The service is very slow and the menu is over priced. The positives are they have out door seating, the ambiance is nice and the food is good but not great. I have been here twice & after giving it a second chance I'm still not impressed enough to give more than 3 stars.
(3)David K.
We've been here a few times. Each time, the food and service has been excellent. Highly recommend!
(5)Patty G.
(2)Joseph H.
(4)Kristin E.
Please install changing tables in bathrooms. Everything was great but I won't be back until you consider your parental customers.
(1)George M.
(5)Samuel L.
(3)Samantha B.
Really enjoyed our meal and ambiance. Recommend sitting outside and asking for Kevin as your waiter. Amazing server that was pleasant knowledgeable about the menu. Especially the wine list.
(5)Stephanie G.
(4)Robert S.
(4)John L.
(3)Al P.
Been here twice over the last six months and enjoyed each time. It's mine and my husband go to place for a nice dinner out without the the kids. Always friendly attentive service too. Highly recommend.
(4)Hannah D.
I have never not had a good meal here and that's saying something considering we come to La Stalla at least once a month. The fish is fresh, the pasta is amazing and the desserts are fabulous. The waitstaff are also great. They pay attention and have never messed up one of my orders. All in all a great place to eat out!
(4)Donna S.
(5)Gerald S.
(4)Peter B.
(3)Michael K.
(4)Mark S.
Terrific restaurant - fresh food - great atmosphere - excellent staff. We have been here many times and it is our go to place for large family (7+) gatherings. The menu is good for kids to senior citizens. My wife and I like this for date night dinners as well.
(5)Saun F.
(1)Lindsay A.
(2)Joey R.
(3)Bob M.
Wonderful friendly place with the BEST food in the area. Ask for the special of the day and go with the fish. Say hi to Louie for me. His influence in the kitchen is invaluable.
(5)Lora N.

Second time here in 5 years. Service and food terrible both times. More expensive than going into Philly and having an awesome meal. Will not be back. Only giving 1 star because I have to.

Can't say enough about the delicious dinners I have enjoyed. The latest a moist potato encrusted Bronzino. Pasta dishes to die for! Don't miss out!

Good Italian fare, with reasonable prices. Old rustic feel to it. Great outside bar, really fun on Thursday Nights.
