Delicious food at an adorable price! Way better and even faster than fast food! You must try this place!

Breakfast is great. Love the hot dogs and chilli cheese fries! Also, the wedding soup and the pasta chilli is awesome too! They also have great orange cream milkshakes and banana milkshakes!

This really should have been my very first review on Yelp. I grew up at HDS. My mom's kitchen was full of HDS cups (kudos to you if you know what i'm talking about!) My order every time is: 2 chili-cheese hot dogs and a regular chili cheese fry. I also love the chocolate milkshakes. I live up in the city now, but when I head down to visit we stop here to eat. We also head to the one in Pgh (Crafton/Greentree) but its a little out of the way for us.. so unless an intense craving comes along, I just wait for the original New Brighton one.. kind of like a special treat. Their breakfast is great. It's kind of hard to explain the deliciousness of their food. You have to experience it for yourself. The menu consists of the essentials (lol)... hot dogs, burgers, fries, shakes, chicken/steak salad, chili, chili mac (spaghetti with chili on top) They also have Bratwurst specials for Octoberfest. But really all you need to try are the chili cheese hot dogs! 5 stars for the food & the memories :)

This place was good. However the owners are getting greedy with the profits . The dogs are getting too small , & Skimpy on the condiments. Some locations have good management, others need more training. They serve breakfast. Beware of the homefries, I usually get 3 to 5 blue potato pieces. I would consider them rotten. I guess they think if they grill them they are safe for consumption? The owners need to spend more time on location. The quality is not as good as in the past.

This was my first time here. The food was good. I really liked my chili cheese dog and chocolate milkshake. I waited in the drive through for over 25 minutes and I was a little surprised everything was so small for the price. I could have had just as good hotdogs for cheaper from somewhere else.

Hadn't eaten here in almost 4 years due to health reasons and trying goofy diets. Biting into a dog after so long was like having it for the first time all over again lol! Delicious hot dogs, good prices, I'm typically a cheese dog guy with ketchup. Orders in and out are quick. The chili cheese fries are top notch too. If you get a chance, try the the wedding soup and also the bratwursts only available in October.

I am a huge fan of Brighton Hot Dog Shoppes! I grew up in Vanport & I've been raised on Weenie World, as we call it, & if it wasn't for them and their chili my girlfriend never would have survived her broken jaw. Having said all that, if you love chili, cheese, meat & potatoes. This is the place for you! My issue is with the New Brighton location. I like this one because it features the old school counter for dining if you'd like, & I do. Twice though I've gone, sat down, & waited forever to be acknowledged. Last time I attempted to order at the counter, but the girl told me to sit down and wait for service. So I did. While sitting, waiting hungerly for nearly 10 minutes, I watched three other customers come in the door and order food. Pushing back my yet ordered meal. Finally, after 10 minutes I gave up. Marking the 1st time I've ever left a Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe hungry...

The price for 5 hotdogs with tax 5.99. The chili on top tasted freshly home made. The hot dogs were not greasy. I ate 2 and my husband 3 and we didnt feel grossed out afterwards like u do sometimes after eating hotdogs. Its great to go fishing at the BEAVER DAM PARK or go walking/swimming in the beaver river and then go eat here afterwards cuz ur starved. We always get our hotdogs to go and then go eat at the river park down the street about 2 minute drive.

First time customer. Had great service, friendly staff, and clean premises. I went for the sauerkraut dog, chili cheese dog and fries. All came up quickly, served hot and tasted good. If you like a quick lunch on the run... this is a good choice.

Grew up on this stuff...not the best hot dogs I have ever had (been to NY and various other places that had a better dog) but don't get me wrong it's a good dog.

Really enjoyed getting a taste of the local fast food/hotdog shop! I munched on a plain hotdog with mustard(my favorite)= it was yummy but small. I also enjoyed the chili cheese fries which were lacking in my eyes. The fries were very tiny and there was not enough chili or cheese. The two together were filling for a meal if I would have got plain fries i would have gone for two hot dogs. A must try in my book for any traditional hot dog/burger joint was the strawberry shake, this two was good but didn't knock my socks off. It was more icy then creamy. I would go back if i was visiting the area but would not make this place a required stop.

This is the 3rd Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe I have been to since I began adventuring in the Beaver Valley, and once again my angry stomach was left purring like a spoiled housecat. I think it is only for this month, meaning ya got today and tomorrow (eek!), but BHDS has been selling hot sausage for a limited time, and it works capably in an omelet (we were way too early for lunch). Is the hot sausage made by Oscar Meyer like the franks are? I dunno. But I can tell you that it was tender, spicy, juicy, and beefy. Hurry up! Get some hot sausage before it flies awayyyy! P.S. Contrary to what a previous reviewer said, the chili is made fresh daily. It is not "mass-produced" or processed and on this visit made for a warm, muddy, savory blanket for my side of home fries on a polar Sunday morning.

When I first started visiting my in laws in PA I didn't understand the attraction to this place and it's hot dogs. At first I was unwilling to try it because I don't ever order hotdogs when out and rarely eat them at home but trying to be flexable I decided to give it a try. Now everytime I am back visiting we head down to the hot dog shop. They appear like ball parks, nothing really special looking about them but the steamed buns are so fresh and soft and the thin chili (not meaty) with the creamy cheese sauce can't be beat. I was also shocked that I like the nacho like cheese sauce because I like real cheese on my nachos not the fake cheese sauce but again WOW. Try this PA dog, you may be surprised by your responce to this simple treat.

My mother was visiting New Brighton for her AME Church Conference. She was so thankful she could eat somewhere other than a fast food place like McDonald's. She told them that she did not want much to eat so they didn't offer her the monster fish sandwhich. She went back the next day and ordered French fries in addition to her fish sandwhich. They told her that they cut the potatoes fresh every day. Mom is picky and she says this food was tremendous! She ate every one of the French fries cause they were so good. Mom was pressed for time cause she had to catch her bus back to Pittsburgh and she says the lady presented her with a nice take out container. Mom also got a hot dog the last day. Mom says the hot dog was only $1.13 and where in the world can u get a hot dog for $1.13. Mom says they are VERY efficient. They overwhelmed her with excellent service in a good way. She keeps saying how pleased she was. Mom says the place looked immaculately clean. Mom says she ordered a small pink lemonade and they brought it to her in a small cup with quite a few ice cubes in it. Bravo they don't use crushed ice not plastic cups!

Yummy! If you didn't grow up on this food I would think twice about dining here. I have found that out of towners are usually less than impressed. They do need to work on the people they hire, but I can't imagine why a quality waitress would want to work here anyway. The prices here are so cheap and most people stick to the standard 15% tip. These poor girls probably don't get paid enough to stick around for very long. I ask that if you do dine here, please leave the waitress a nice tip!!

This place is awesome. I have only visited the New Brighton location, because I was out that way and it looked intriguing. This is an old-school hot-dog-shop/diner, with appropriately (and authentically) retro surroundings. We had hot dogs, chili-cheese fries, and milkshakes during our visit. All three were solidly delicious in an arteriosclerotic way. The hot dogs were plump and juicy, with perfectly-steamed buns. Chili and cheese toppings were standard-issue mass-produced chili and cheese sauce, but definitely tasty. My husband and I were divided about the milkshakes. I like extra-thick milkshakes that necessitate the use of a spoon. My husband likes his soupier, because he is a freak. I was thrilled with my husband's milkshake, although he was not. If you're out in the New Brighton area, this place is definitely a must. If you're in the city looking for a hot dog, this place is good but it definitely isn't worth the gas when you have D's nearby.

I just can't do it. This is the kinda place that you are told it is good so many times, it has to be, well, good. I try and try to go there, seeking some kind of divine experience, and I am always left feeling like I should of went to 7-11 and got a frozen burrito. Save this place for the nostalgia freaks, and you will be glad you saved a few bucks on pencil thin hot dogs and see thru hamburgers.

No Jag offs here. Better than the O. This is one of the last of the dying breed of what's known as the "Great American Hot Dog Shoppe and Diner." This chain is located in the burbs of Pittsburgh worth a stop if your out this way. I reviewed New Brighton locale as I prefer the atmosphere- it never changes as they 'keep it real.' The Mars location is too new and shiny for my tastes. I've went this diner as a kid and even though I mostly gave up beef.. I still HAVE to go back each time I visit 'home'. It really appeals to kids, but who doesn't want to feel like a kid again once and a while? This is a great place to bring the family as the prices are great for 'family packs' and the atmosphere is kid friendly. -Sorta 'fast food' - made to order. -The hot dogs are placed on steamed buns dressed the way ya like em'. Decent chili, kraut, cheese, Heinz ketchup, mustard, all the basics. (Not to be confused with Chicago dogs. Here the simplicity rules.) -Burgers are small but tasty -The Chedder Cheese fries are a yummy gooey mess, you need a fork! -Milk Shakes are thick and delicious. -I love their 'Frankie collector cups', I have many from over the years that I just can't part with. And don't miss the cute website starring Frankie: hotdogshoppe.com/index10…

Darn good wedding soup!

Classic! You must try the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe if you are in Western PA, it's worth hunting one down...at least for the chilli cheddar fries. They have excellent smoothies and wedding soup, too. It's a staple if you grew up in the area.
