I've haven't been here in months, so this review might be a bit outdated. My family used to eat here all the time in the 90's and early 00's. The food was always great! We probably didn't have a bad meal in 5 years.... We stopped going here regularly in probably 2005. One meal was all it took to derail our thoughts of this place. The cook was smoking in the kitchen and there was a fingernail in one of our glasses. (We didn't notice until the end) We decided to put this in the past and tried it out a few months ago. Food was still good, but I'll never forget that one meal.

Friendly staff serving HOME made pasta. Not the tipical out of the box fare. Small bar and close sitting. Food appears to be prepared to order and the staff is more then willing to make changes you request. Do not let the sign or the out of the way location stop you from haveing a good harty family meal. Do try the specials or anything on the menu. ENJOY.

I really thought I was in the wrong place when we walked in. They immediately asked if they could help us. Then we asked to be seated and admitted we didn't have a reservation. The place wasn't busy enough really for them to ask that. Seems like the crowd all know one another. The menu is simple few Italian staple dishes. The furniture is old and dark. Vinyl tablecloths on each table. The penne with vodka sauce was passable. Not overly large portions. Service staff wasn't too attentive. They seemed to be preparing for a large group coming in. Overall just an average meal at an average place.

Went for dinner last night.food was marginal at best. Service was POOR. Our server took a good ten minutes to com to our table, it wasn't busy, took our order . The food came out quickly, but our server never came to check on us until it was time for the check. This was not the first time this has happened here but it is the last because we will not return.

A typical "red gravy" Italian place. First visit and everyone enjoyed their entrees. I will leave it at 3 stars until I give it a second try. Some of the crowd seemed a little rough the night we were there. I have no idea if that is the norm or not.

Went to Nana's with some friends last night and had a wonderful evening! The service was terrific and our waitress was very friendly and accommodating - the food was phenomenal too! I had the veal parm with homemade pasta - it was prepared perfectly and tasted delicious! I'm so glad Nana's reopened a few years ago - it's such a great place to go with friends and family as it still retains that comfortable atmosphere I remember.

Absolutely freaking awesome. Best sauce and meatballs around. I wish it were just a touch cheaper but portions are very generous and a servings is definitely two meals.

I'm am not from the moosic area. I work here though. This place was 2.5/5. It smelled and looked like someone's Nana's house (wasn't pleasant) pasta was homemade but flavorless. Meatballs were not firm (more or so mushy like)... Service was good. Food, not so much. Dim lighting.

Agree with Mountain Chick... although the food was decent, I had to literally reprimand a pair of clueless gavones sitting at an adjacent table to stop dropping f-bombs left & right! The servers were well aware there were several families with young children in the dining room, but ignored the antics of this 50-something, low-life couple... unfortunately, they seemed to be regulars!!

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
