Your standard burger joint. Fifties diner decor and uniforms. Not very busy the night I was there. Pattymelt was good, fries were good, malt was creamy and thick. Not the best I have ever had, but certainly didn't suck.

I stopped at Johnny Rockets in Moosic on Monday with a co-worker to grab a quick bite to eat before heading back to Philly for a meeting. Johnny Rockets falls between fast-food (McDonalds, Burger King) and quick service restaurants (Ruby Tuesday, Fridays) and is similar in menu and style to a 5 Guys Burgers. The burgers are cooked to order, are a decent size and are pretty good. The waitress was friendly and did a good job keeping track of us. Johnny Rocket's is a little more expensive than 5 Guys and isn't quite as good, but 5 Guys isn't an option here so Johnny Rocket's is a decent place to go and grab a quick bite.

This Johnny rockets isn't the best Johnny rockets I have been to. I have been to 3 or 4 different JRs this location falls short. The only reason I'm giving it a 3 star instead of a 2 star review is because I have never had a bad meal here. However I have had a bad shake here. I have been to this Johnny rockets 5 times the food has been well cooked every time. I have had 3 shakes out of my 5 visits and 2 of them just tasted plain. On my latest trip all I ordered was a chocolate shake. And it tasted like coffee I took 4 sips and then didn't Finnish the rest. They seem short staffed. There was 2 waitresses and 1 cook when it was prime for lunch every other seat was filled and food took a bit for 3 The nice thing is if you just order onion rings fries or fried pickles they come quick. I like the fried pickles. If I went back. I would prob just stick to a burger and fried pickles. Keep it simple.

Terrible service! Took a few minutes to be seated when there were 2 waitresses doing nothing and about 5 other customers. The waitress was inattentive and it took 40 minutes to get two burgers!!! And they tried to up-charge us for a free add on items. Food was tasty but awful customer service!

We have been here a few times for lunch while on a road trip. The service has always been excellent -- friendly, responsive and professional. Not sure what all of the negative reviews are about?

I typically only write reviews for exceptionally good or bad service/food and this place was pretty bad. Took forever to get our food, the place was dirty and food average at best.

While my mom, niece and I were spending the day across the street at the Shoppes at Montage we came here for lunch. I have been to Johnny Rockets several times but I was less than pleased with this location. I realize they're wearing white/khaki uniforms but that it no excuse for the being filthy. The managers pants looked as if he had been wearing them for weeks and our waitress looked rather disheveled with multiple bandaids on her fingers. The food was typical. Nothing to write home about. I did enjoy the peppermint milkshake though. My burger was well seasoned but it looked like something I could have got at a fast food burger place. Just disappointed with this visit. Since it was my mom's first time, she was definitely not impressed.

We stopped here after visiting steamtown. The staff was nice but everything was slow. It took over 30 minutes to get our food. The food itself was good but nothing to go crazy over. We also had 4 kids with us but they held the kids meals until the other meals were done. I realize that this might be a standard practice but most places ask if we want the kids stuff to come first. The only way I'd come again is by myself and if I had no place to be in a rush.

In short - skip this place. Burger king is faster, makes better burgers and is cheaper. I dare say the service at burger king its as friendly. The fried pickle appetizer was undercooked and had raw batter on some of the portions. Food took a long time (25 minutes). That would have been ok if after the wait it was hot and fresh. It was neither. The burgers and fries were luke warm at best. Buns had that it on the counter not in a bag all day taste. Burgers were very overcooked. I saw that in another review and assumed it was a personal preference. I was wrong. The burgers were very overdone (you could actually crunch on some of it). Service was not attentive. You had to ask for refills. Staff overall had uncaring fake attitudes. It was not in your face but it was obvious that everyone was going through the motions at a minimum level. The shakes were good.

Burger severely over cooked and it took 20 minutes to get it. Very disappointed. Haven't been here in a while, it was much much better. Maybe it was a bad day.

We were in the Scranton area and were looking for dinner before heading back on I-81 to go home and while there were other places close by like a Ruby Tuesday and a Long Horn Steakhouse, we chose Johnny Rockets because it was the only place that didn't have a huge line. (And that should have been the tip-off that this place was horrible.) First even though they had kid's menus and crayons clearly in site our server never offered them and we received them only after asking twice. They give you some nickels to put in their table-side jukeboxes to have songs played in the restaurant. The problem is that ours and several others all were broken and our server informed us that most had been jammed for a while and that there was no plan to ever get them fixed. The food itself was came pretty fast, with the exception of my youngest daughter's grilled cheese because the server dropped her plate and it took almost ten minutes to make another. The Kid's menu offers no other substitution for the greasy fries. So if you want your children to eat a little bit healthier their only suggestion is onion rings. We were never offered drink refills and our server disappeared until it was check time. When I saw the check I was then reminded that we could have eaten at Ruby Tuesday's, or just about any other chain restaurant, and gotten better food for less. If you are in Montage Mountain area avoid this place like that plague unless you like paying waaaaaay too much for inferior food and awful service.

Burgers are reliably pretty good with a myriad of toppings. Decor is adorably 50's. I give it 3 stars because service really makes or breaks your visit. If your server is friendly and follows the traditions of Johnny rockets (draws ketchup faces, sings and dances, etc) then it's 5 star for the experience...if not, then it's just a place for a decent hamburger.

  • Pearl J.

No stars !!!! Horrible service, horrible burger, and the exciting cheesesteak that everyone raves about here had absolutely no cheese and if you ask for cheese , then they bring you two slices of processed American cheese on a plate ! Place extremely filthy! Fries had the flavor of the week old grease from the dirty fryer ! Go back you say and give it another try - NEVER!!!!!!

  • Paul W.

Alright.... I'll try to be somewhat constructive. The place looked clean. Now onto the negatives... The food is mediocre at best. The cheese steak was crap (it made me dream of my work's cafeteria food.. A scary thought) and it was $11!!! They charge a buck for each ingredient you add to the basic meat/cheese/roll. The burger (Route 66) was passable but way too small. The milkshakes weren't good... We had to have them remake 'em. In short, if you're in the mood for a good burger, drive the 12-15 miles up the road to either Red Robin or Logan's -- both near the arena in Wilkes-Barre. Or for the same money, try Lucky's... Also on that strip. (Their chicken tenders are out of this world)

I'm going to give Johnny Rockets props just for offering Boca Burgers as an option! This makes me VERY happy:) So, this is also a shout out to the Johnny Rockets corporation as in a pinch last summer we were able to actually find something vegetarian to eat at the Johnny Rockets on the Atlantic City boardwalk. We ate at this location in Moosic en route to the Finger Lakes and were staying at the nearby TownePlace Suites so were able to walk here across the parking lot, another plus! It's obviously kid-friendly and my daughter enjoyed the singing waitstaff. I enjoyed that the waitstaff had natty dreads tucked in to their caps.

I always try to be positive about my reviews but it is very hard with this one. Right off the bat I was greeted with the smell of sewer gas by the bathrooms and there was no paper towels in the men's room. My booth seat had duck tape which had lost its sticky and reveling a big hole . My #12 was delivered with cold fries . This rocket was a dud.

The service is seriously slow, the food is similar to McDonalds quality, and the restaurant is extremely filthy. The owners should consider both a remodel, and increasing the amount of staff on hand--there was literally one waitress waiting on and serving customers.

This was my second visit. Classic burger was excellent. I enjoyed it about the same as my last 5 Guys burger. Only complaint is that it is messy to eat; rolls are a little too soft. The waitstaff breaks out into a dance every so often which is entertaining for the kids. And they make ketchup smiley faces for your fries.

  • S B.

If I could give 0 stars I would food was awful dried out burger. The worst was the waitress stuck her hands in her pants to tuck shirt in then picked up a plate to serve customers. They also put the fry basket in the garbage can bang off the sides and put back in the fryer GROSSS!!!!! Will never return to any Johnny rockets.

A great little place for a burger and shake. My nephews liked that the staff would break into dance and that we got to wear soda jerk hats! We always had decent service and good food. This was the place to go for the classic burger and vanilla shake.

YUM. Perfect place to stop in for lunch. We really like the sweet potato fries, and how they are no flat like at other places. I got the burger with the special sauce and if there was a rockets closer to me, I'd never crave big mac sauce again. Just an overall great meal. I only deducted a star because of the service. The girl attending to our table was very friendly and sociable at first but once the food came out she never checked if we needed more to drink, which we all did, because as you eat you tend to drink more.
